I booked a condo for 3 nights in March through airbnb. The listing was listed by a rental company called Sugar Sands in Florida who doesn t really care about customer service. Our condo ended up having a ton of mildew/mold in the carpet, bathroom ceilings, and shower walls. I called CS after waiting on the host all day to figure something out. I snapped multiple pictures of mold and sent it to the case managers and they handled the situation in 1 hour!!!
Mold is unexceptable and the host was aware so AIRBNB refunded the full amount. I was so stressed out having my children in that condo I actually felt like Airbnb cared about us.
THANK YOU Airbnb for protecting us in this situation!

Airbnb has the most unique and friendliest corporate offices I've ever been to so far! Was an awesome experience from start to finish! All smiles and positive welcoming energy from all I've made contact with! Hope that I'll have the opportunity to partner with Airbnb again!

After the tedious account creation I booked a room and got a confirmation. 5 minutes later the host messaged me to say that she couldn t take booking. I immediately called abnb to make sure the pending charge would be removed and I was assured it would. Next morning the charge wasn t pending it was charged to my bank. I again called the non US based call center and was told the credit was issued and to give my bank a code. You guessed it. Still no credit and no one at my bank knows what the code is for.
What a joke.

Airbnb has been terrible to owners and policies mean nothing to Airbnb. The way Airbnb has and is handling cancellations has been terrible, with no regard to the owners.
They made the small business owners take the hit! Horrid! The review process is unfair and guests can say whatever they want with no due process for owners. Airbnb doesn't back or support their core customer, the owner!

I am a super host for 3 years at airbnb , I love airbnb , I made so many friends all around the world, they always had fair and nice service, always feel supported from them BUT now , not anymore, I still thinking that s not airbnb s faulted, they just hire some unprofessional manager, and I am bad luck this time to deal with him , long story short, I had issues with my room the day guest check in , I offer him full refund and he can cancel the reservation or I can pay him for two days $115 for another airbnb close by , so I can fix the room , after two day , the guest Mr. jack took all the advantage he decided to cancel the reservation, and asking for full refund, believe or not , the supervisor decided to gave him full refund and offer me $100 coupons which is not even enough for cover my Spence not about the room which been blocked from him since 1 month ago !! Very disappointed and I still waiting for their reply, and still waiting for the supervisor to close the case and I can give a review, unfortunately,he seems try to hide from me , never replied after 4days .... i have to leave here 1 star review, hopefully HQ can see the problem in the management system.

They deactivated my acct and canceled payment after they discovered criminal history from 20+ years ago...then I booked thru another company (vrbo)....paid for the same place....then I find out next day airbnb approved me, and without permission booked it for me....now i have a overbooked nightmare too deal with!!.....never again

Airbnb is one of the best run companies in the U.S. Seriously, I'm not overstating, they are amazingly responsive and versital! I've been on both sides, a traveler and a host and they have surpassed my expectations every time!! Any issue I had or request I've made has been dealt with in really smart and efficient way. I hope they take over the world!!!

I am beyond angry with Airbnb I was referred by another host and started hosting my home. I had a couple of guest who came and stayed at my home which were great experiences and everything was going well and overall please with everything. On June 1st I had a guest come stay in my home for 4 days and was expected to get paid on June 2. Unfortunately it is July 7th and I'm still waiting on my payout from that guest. I have been calling Airbnb nonstop and they have just been giving me the run around and owe me close to $600. I'm beyond disturbed with them and how they treat their host it's not my fault the guest gave false information in the payment didn't go through I did my job and host them so I deserve to get paid. PLEASE DO NOT HOST WITH AIRBNB STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!

According to Airbnb, they made a mistake paying me one transaction twice. Since I cannot check my bank record online and have to request my bank back in my home country, I asked Airbnb to provide me a bank record. They insisted that they are right and can send me screenshots of the internal Airbnb system.

Then they say that if you want evidence, go to your bank to request a letter.

They insist they can t provide a bank record.

Also, when Airbnb says they will get back to you within 24 hours, it never happens until more than a few weeks later.

Was robbed at my airbnb in Nashville, TN 1058 1st Avenue N to be exact. 600 dollars was stolen from our unit, due to gross negligence (owner never changed locks or code since purchasing unit). I turned in a police report and was stranded in Nashville for several days afterward yet airbnb did nothing. I am not even sure why they asked for the police report. They refused to take any responsibility regardless of the fact that they had zero policies and procedures for events of this nature, and it was negligence on the part of the owner that they let use their service. Will never use them again.

Had a problem with host that never responded to reservation request so then when I wanted to cancel the system charged me a fee but there was NO way to reach airbnb their number is not listed anywhere nor their email only way is to "agree" to the charge and write comment - terruble never book again!

I'm a super host on AirBnB (Jose Aas). I had a booking starting this Saturday for 9 days. A day before the guest was supposed to arrive a person called me from AirBnB. I was very surprised because it's almost impossible to get a person on the phone from AirBnB. I thought it was a scam, because the person didn't say much. I told the person to write a message on AirBnB. I didn't receive any message. Suddenly the booking for my next guest had disappeared. I had a week cancellation policy on my profile, but it looks like AirBnB didn't respect this. I'm not happy with this as we do special cleaning and preparation of this apartment now due to Covid-19. I'm considering using booking.com, if I don't get any explanation why the booking disappeared without any written confirmation from AirBnB on their platform or App.

Try Corporate office : ABB is all OFF SHORE and in serious need of training. Making money is easy for ABB but the HOST suffers and so do the GUESTS. I am hoping for a class action suite.

1. Guest agreed to pay for parking prior to booking. Guest arrived at property and refused special offer for parking as stated in listing. Although agreement was signed by Guest on ABB, off shore "ambassador" (LOL) let the guest park for free. We had photos to show guest parked in the parking lot. HOST ended up paying for guest to park since ABB allowed guest FREE PARKING.

2. Guest arrived and didn't like the apartment. Guest mislead ABB telling them there was not enough sleeping room. The apartment has 2 double beds. Guest said AC didn't work. There was no AC.
ABB let guest spend 2 nights for FREE and the HOST got no money.
ABB "ambassador" cancelled the reservation and stated that HOST cancelled, jeopardizing SUPER HOST status. Host did NOT cancel. This has not been rendered.

I sent correspondence to the corporate offices and ZERO reply except for one professional who no longer worked there and responded, suggesting another email address.

I have had the most shocking experience staying at our most recent stay. The place was unsafe, unclean and all the amenities were falsely stated. Host never responded and AirBnB's customer service was worse. It has been 3 weeks and I have been through 5 'case managers' to process a refund. All of them have no idea what the last one worked on. It is quite literally a joke.

Poor business practices. They tend to choose the side of a bad guest over a great host a lot. amazing 5 years ago. Covid has made their platform unbearable. Maybe due to massive layoffs.

As an frequent traveler, I have used Airbnb and Homeaway all over the world. I was recently told that I broken a $1400 coffee table and ordered to pay for it without regard to my statements. The host and Airbnb held me hostage. They kept my $500 security deposit and are now trying to make me pay $900 more.

This is so unfair. I am a 68 year old and had no way of breaking the table.
Pictures were produced of a broken leg after I left. I found no way to discuss this situation directly with a person at Airbnb. The web site took me in circles back to HELP.

Beware of hosts and Airbnb trying to extort additional money from guests.
Maybe staying in hotels is safer after all.

Been trying to get an answer from them. If we are a no show at the property we loose all of our payment. Why can t they answer a simple question. If the property is a total disaster and they didn t even want us there to show how bad it was; while a group of 8 adults and 4 kids are left in a parking lot wondering where they will be staying for 3 nights and 4 days. What is their compensation and why they keep closing case for they fully refunded the amount paid. What is a family to do on day of the mishap especially when there was communication with the host; and until day of everything was hunky dory. He never mentioned that the house was off the rental for months. Just took advantage of us all. We had to separate the group and spend our holidays away from each other, instead of all together.

Customer Service is BADDDD. My experience with trying to change a reservation has been so bad that I'll never book through Airbnb again. The host was unable to accept my change request due to a problem in the app, so he contacted customer service about the issue - two weeks later, he has never heard back. I also contacted customer service, and they told me that my issue was going to be escalated and that a customer service specialist would be getting in contact with me. However, I never received a response either. The issue still isn't resolved, and Airbnb is still holding my money captive.

As an Airbnb host myself I only have wonderful things to say about this organization. I feel safe as a host. They are very organized and give me a great way to make extra money. After you have to go through a few hoops to get your registration etc they even handle everything as far as taxes etc.

Booked a place in Savannah, GA for 200 USD a day. ...

Booked a place in Savannah, GA for 200 USD a day. Turned out to be located in an area of the town I would describe as torn down and actually dangerous. After a little research it turns out that we became the victim of a predatory landlord who buys dirt cheap places in these kind of areas (he claimed to own 17(!) properties in this "gorgeous" area) and rents them out to unknowing tourists making a huge margin.

We refused to check in, and the guy owning the place refused to give us back our money. What I really found problematic is the fact, that it is impossible to reclaim the full amount via the airbnb dispute resolution center, as airbnb insists on their cut of the rent, even if they obviously fail to perform any vetting of their landlords deserving the name.

Hence I will now directly reclaim the money via Amex and see what will happen.

My personal conclusion is, that a once great idea falls apart once the greed sets in. Very sad.

P.S.: here are some photographs of the lots adjacent to the place. Whoever lives in places like Detroit (like I do), might find them familiar. And Detroit actually came a long way, and I like the things I see there.

Fraudulent use of my credit card by AirBNB employee?

I was alerted by my bank that AirBNB had charged my credit card for over $1500.00 USD. I alerted my bank that this charge was fraudulent and should be charged back to the merchant,.

I then contacted AirBNB via their messaging system and reported the charge and asked them to investigate and advise what they find out. Within a couple of hours I received an acknowledgement from AirBNB that they would investigate.

Unfortunately, AirBNB offices are closed over the weekend and I did not hear back from them until the following Monday when they advised that they were closing the case and that I would receive further communications via email.

I then sent this email:
'Please advise under what circumstances did Airbnb make unauthorized charges against my card. Was the thief an Airbnb employee, Airbnb Host or Airbnb guest member? I am also extremely interested in what actions Airbnb undertakes to prevent future abuse.'

I was in turn advised by AirBNB that:'Unfortunately, we're unable to release any information regarding the reservation or the user accounts involved without a formal request from a government agency or law enforcement, such as a subpoena. '

, I have drawn these conclusions:

1. the AirBNB security management has no idea what happened in this case or is unwilling to admit it.
2. There is no indication that AirBNB has or will take preventative action.
3. Data security at AirBNB is possibly vulnerable to attack and data loss may very well be at the heart of this crime.
4. The customer service management does not operate their department over the weekends which in the case of criminal abuse or other serious issues could be very critical.

My recommendation to the reader is that under no circumstances should AirBNB be trusted with any sensitive financial data. The AirBNB employees or their members are quick to make fraudulent charges against a credit card.

Terrible customer service. Airbnb recently changed its policy now requiring a photocopy of government issued photo ID, verified phone number and a social network account. But reaching their own customer service isn't easy nor helpful. God forbid you run into a problem with your reservation, Customer Service is not there to help you.

I ve rented from Airbnb dozens of times with a total stay of multiple months... The one time you ever get a place that s not as advertised you ll regret it.. they hold the customers responsible for the bill and not the property owner... it s been 2 months I ve been trying to get back what they promised over a call (the other 50% $600+ of our reservation that we had to stay the first night through)... that $600+ is 50% of all the nights we didn t stay after being promised it would be refunded.. even after jumping through all the hoops of email documentation that took hours.. They don t have much competition yet so their customer service is horrible when it s time to deal with real concerns and issues that their customers face

Airbnb is a shady company. I cancelled my entire reservation as the house is dirty and materially different from the listing, see attached photo comparison. Airbnb refused to admit the host has anything wrong and therefore don't give my $900 reservation back. I left a negative and honest review about the host and listing, but airbnb removed it. This is the reason most of the listing have a few but positive reviews as negative ones are all removed. This company should go bankcrupt. If you want to save money and time, Don't use airbnb.

Airbnb does not value their customers. If you cancel a reservation because of COVID-19, you should receive a refund. Period! People are dying. If you travel during this pandemic, you could potentially be the reason more people die. Airbnb, I am asking you to do the right thing. Make this right.

This review is not for the office but for the concept of renting an AirBnB if you're visiting SF.

The average hotel in the city probably costs ~$200/night. You can rent an entire apartment in or near the city at that cost or less. My family and I rented an AirBnB (someone's apartment) while they were visiting for Memorial Day weekend. It was far less cramped than a hotel, allowing us to have our space. Definitely recommended for SF or bay area trips!

I reserved a home in Davenport Iowa. The listing said house. It never mentioned that this was a bedroom in an occupied home. When the host contacted me, she asked if I needed to rent a 2nd bedroom, because I had 2 adults listed on the reservation. I messaged back asking if this was a property occupied by other people. When she did not promptly reply, I cancelled the reservation. Over $500 was taken from my account, and the app said that it would be 7 days, before I would have the money back in my account. This doesn't work, because I don't have enough money this week to get another place or hotel. I tried to get this resolved with customer service, but I keep getting vague messages from them, and when I call, I get the runaround from the person on the phone saying someone will call me.

Don't do business with this company! If the listing is inaccurate, they will hold your money, and ignore you! Terrible customer service!

Most of the positive reviews on here are written by Airbnb employees!

Airbnb is terrible! They only protect the host but not the customer. When you try to reach out it s nothing but people from out of the country. What a terrible service. Never in my life have I ever been treated so poorly. The lack of empathy this company has for its customers is beyond me. I wouldn t recommend this company to anyone. Don t even go with Airbnb try using different apps. This company needs to remove from the public. Hosts need to be held accountable. Only worried about making money off consumers might as well go back to using hotels.

My account was hacked, and a $2200 room was fraudulently charged using someone else's stolen credit card. I called Airbnb immediately to resolve the issue (tangent: finding the number was nearly impossible, and hold times were outrageous).

I was told my case would be investigated and resolved in 72 hours. This period of time came and went with no response from Airbnb, so I called again (more outrageous wait times). I was again assured resolution was forthcoming, but the representative would not provide an estimated time frame.

Meanwhile, my account remained on the hook for $2200, someone else's credit card was being charged this amount, and a man in Amsterdam believed paying guests were coming to use his property.

It took 6 full days before Airbnb finally responded and cancelled the booking and charges. This is beyond unacceptable. I will never use this service again.

If I could give "0" stars I would. My friends and i had booked a vacation getaway for the first weekend in June, but had to cancel in March due to travel restrictions placed upon us due to the covid-19 crisis. Our host agreed to refund the full amount we had already paid. Airbnb refused to refund all but $65 of it saying our trip was just a couple days outside of their extenuating circumstances policy. I tried explaining that our party was comprised of military personnel and we have special travel restrictions. Airbnb still would not budge. Their response was basically, "Too bad". I would not recommend airbnb to my worst enemy.

Been using Airbnb for years and was always very happy. On May 24 I made a reservation for a 2br place in Seattle WA for June 20 to 23. When I arrived to Seattle, about 10 minutes before my checkin time I got a text from the host that the reservation is canceled because the house is flooded. We contacted Airbnb in a panic to see what could be done.
Basically they were telling us to choose another place if possible and that they would apply the money paid for the canceled place to the new place. We were not able to find a place for the same price, all the available places were much more expensive. Airbnb however didn't care, they expected us to pay the difference. After spending hours on the phone with them our case handler set out to help us find a different place. After a long while more she ended up find a place that was in the same area and 2br as well, it was $20 more. The only problem was that it turned out to be the exact same place that had canceled on us, they had just forgotten to remove the listing. We were so tired and frustrated that we checked in to a motel. The next morning we called them again and they finally agreed to pay $150 towards our much more expensive motel bill. Bottom line we had to spend $300 more on our motel. Even the $150 they said they would pay, they didn't. Bottom line, don't think you have any rights if you pay in full to reserve a place 30 days ahead of time and they end up canceling on you; you are basically out of luck at that point. Thankfully we had some money to pay for the motel, otherwise we would have had to sleep in the street...

Funny as I read through the reviews it all seems about the hosts not reliable. I would like to state we use a rental agent who uses Airbnb and my complaint with be guests who break and destroy my home. Even though they pay a deposit my agent says getting a nickel out of Airbnb is just about impossible. Our house is beautifully kept and maintained well the guest have broken the mirrors affixed to the walls, life size statues in the front garden, tvs, patio furniture, pool equipment, shower doors cigarette burns on the furniture even though house is no smoking and on and on and on and the agent says its not even worth putting in a claim because airbnb will not honor the claim all the guest has to say is we didn't do it and they are not charged after item after item being broken in my home we have decided to remove the home from airbnb Hosts beware this company wants to make money but only for themselves they have driven down the price guests pay but do not respect or honor the hosts. Don't waste your time with this deceitful company they will take their percentage charge a deposit for damage and then give it back to the guest leaving you a large bill NOT A GOOD COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH if I could give less stars I would it may be good for guests but it is not good to the hosts DON'T DON'T DON'T use this company you will regret it

They never care after they get your money , I tried to call them to tell them about the room I rent, instead of helping me they blocked my account... I think it s time for us all united and stop using this scam company... they need to know that they can not treat us like this... we pay them to stay in this business, so if we stop using them they will know who is in control... I stopped using them and all my family and friends as well all my coworkers

as you see they don t care about how much we write here, they don t even bother to answer or make any corrections... so we should really stop once and for all using them...

This property was dirty, pool not clean - Bird droppings around pool - no pumps on pools -had not been on.

Pool area had not been sprayed off with water recently. Kitchen was dusty, very antiquated.

Bases of wood fixtures beat up - missing.

Elevator stopped midway, went black 30 seconds plus.

14 TV near pool - TV in master bedroom was not working.

Below sub par condition. Photos in advertisement 2-5 years old. All covers around pool very faded.

We only received a partial refund, but paid for 2 days plus Airbnb commission. We did not stay at all. After waiting 1 hour for the home s caretaker- she had been notified 3 times about arrival time. Approaching the home the whole street had mountains of garbage on both sides. What a dump!

Instead of being able to cancel bad reservations half way through airbnb is a SCAM that like instead allows crazy horrible people on the internet who you didn t even like staying with to review you and basically unleash all their problems on you, which is ridiculous and unfair and not a nice experience. If there are any alternatives to airbnb I will be using them and hotels are far better for privacy and then they re aren t ugly jealous losers posting hatemail on your page. It s disgusting. I m appalled at airbnb and then unlike fb or something which you re protected from trolls, it stays up there! And is undeletable! Use hotels or anything really.

AirBnB continues to disappoint. It has now been 6 weeks since contacting customer service after I was harassed by a host. No one will help me resolve the issue. I have emailed, chatted on the app, called and spoke to a real human, and reached out on social media. They continue the facade of appearing to be helpful publicly on social media, but then not following through. Customer service keeps telling me to be kind while they work through my issue. My level of kindness and patience (which has been that of a saint, by the way) has no tie to Airbnb s lack of competence. There are a lot of people who are nice guys, but who are also bad at their jobs. Severely disappointed that they are not sticking by their customers. Oh, well...I m sure someone will start a new online platform soon enough.

So a word of warning for all my Airbnb user friends. Since we have been on our honeymoon I have used Airbnb a lot. When we were in the Galapagos, I ended up booking a room with someone who did not exist. We showed up at the location and it was a hotel. They knew nothing of the listing. We called the number and it was disconnected.

So, I called Airbnb at a pretty steep collect call for myself and ended up emailing them a totalof 8 times. They were timely with their response but I asked at least 3 x what would happen to this guy before they told me I would have to report him to have anything done. I emailed 2x asking how to report him, they ignored my response but they offered me a $100 gift card. I asked a final time to see if they would give me the information and no more responses.

The guys false listing is still up.

The question of the day is, why won't they make it easy to report false listings? Does it affect their ratings more than just silencing their patrons with a gift card?

So we are having a family reunion at my Fathers for Thanksgiving on the Texas coast this Thursday so I booked a house way back in July with Airbnb to make sure with so many family members coming we would have enough room, everything was confirmed and PAID in full well in advance, and today 3 days before with many family already en-route I get a cancel notice in an email and text. I talked with the owner who said they were doing repairs and I couldn't stay there now from Hurricane Harvey 2 years ago! So why did Airbnb take my money and allow this property to be available if it still had "damage" from 1.5 years ago? And why was it even allowed to be shown on this website? If I could give them a zero star rating I would, and will NEVER use this business ever again. Now I have to spend another $1,200 for an equivalent space since its short notice!! I am NOT happy!! 11/25/19 I still have not be refunded my money paid back in July 2019. Borderline FRAUD

After relying on AirBnb my last 8 trips through 5 different countries I was F U R T A D O by the AirBnb host and no one took ANY action. From a great client who has already spent almost R $ 100,000.00 on daily rates with AirBnb to a client with deadly hatred.

In the B.O. the property's caretaker said that RECURRING THEFT was happening and that I was yet another victim. Madrid police were called in to investigate the case.

AirBnb continues to advertise this property on its platform and is not concerned with LESAR new customers.

* I filed a lawsuit in Brazil against AirBnb to try to compensate the losses and the attitude of AirBnb and its lawyers is LAMENTABLE.

Until the end of my life I will advertise you negatively. Every week a new post until the end of my life or until you disappear, whichever comes first.

* From a great client who has already spent almost R $ 100,000.00 on daily rates with AirBnb to a client with deadly hatred.

I am overwhelmingly disappointed in the quality control Airbnb exhibits on their listings. My friends made a booking on a room in Richmond, BC, Canada for August 14-28, 2019 months in advance. First, they landed at the airport, and the host texted them an address different from the one previously communicated. Then, they arrived to this new address, and it was evident that the room the host directed them to was CLEARLY DIFFERENT from the room advertised. At first, this almost seemed like an upgrade, but it turns out this host was just unprofessional and greedy. After 1 night, the shower head broke. After contacting the host about a problem with the alarming number of spiders in the space, the host has not done anything to clean up the space. Airbnb has also not responded with a solution or refund. In fact, even any gesture for compensation has not been made after multiple hours have passed since my friends notified Airbnb. The entire scam was only possible due to a lack of quality control by Airbnb for their listings, and greedy hosts are allowed to continue surviving on their online service.

There was no indication on the listing that the host would be this irresponsible. The host is actually rated more than 4-stars. In addition to lack of quality control, Airbnb also allowed false advertising to take place. My friends were directed to a space that was nowhere near the quality and cleanliness depicted in the listing's photos (it was not even the same room/address). This situation is turning what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday into a logistical disaster. Besides being upset with the host, it is also disheartening that Airbnb neither cares enough about the services offered on their platform nor their clients to rectify this issue.

***There are great hosts on Airbnb. Airbnb needs to do better with reports about the bad ones.

Over 5 days now and this case manager has not called back or responded to messages in the app.. the way they have this set up makes it almost impossible for customers to resolve and issue in a timely manner. I have spent over 8 hours on the phone calling back over and over dealing with reps who can do diddly for me and have to escalate to a case mananger who then never calls back.. best part is they can t tell you when this case manager might call so guess what you have to stop the work you might be in the middle of whenever they call...

Due to the COVID-19 my group of travelers had to cancel our trip in June. We made reservations with Airbnb back in March before the madness started. We have paid a partial payment for our condo in Miami. Since we have cancelled Airbnb is only attempting to refund $91.29 out of $763.34 taken off my credit card. This is absurd due to the circumstances of the Conorna! Airbnb is attempting to cheat the group out of hundreds of dollars. According to Airbnb s policy, we have various options of refunds but they are not exercising those options. This situation with the virus is totally out of customers hands and we saved all year to take this trip and now we are being cheated out of hundreds of dollars.

When we spoke to the airbnb representative he told me and another traveler that Airbnb was in debt and attempting to pay mortgages to host sites. Which does not apply to the money they took. Our group plans to fight this all the way even if that means going to the media. He Mike the representative said because our second payment of 763.34 was not made that we did not qualify for the 50 percent refund.

When I reached out to the host site she explained that Airbnb notified her that we were refunded $854.63 which is not true. The amount does not make sense due to the factor that we didn t not pay that much in the partial payment.

I have been waiting for a supervisor to contact me since Wednesday which has not happened. This is a warning to everyone that may have to cancel a trip. Do not become a victim like my group has!

I was banned for life by AirBNB for not pre-approving a non-disabled guest with a dog. Initially I was contacted by AirBNB about this and went ahead and amended the listing to indicate I would accept pets, but discouraged it due to allergies. A few hours later I received a message from AirBNB that I had been banned for life, including duplicate accounts, etc. The ban included traveling as well as hosting. Seems like their policies are a bit extreme.

Another problem is that AirBNB didn't forward more than 5 days of hosting fees. On 08-17-2018 an AirBNB representative sent an email advising she would release the fees and that they would be received within 15 days, but they never showed up. AirBNB has subsequently blocked communication from our account. They got paid for guests that were housed and we did not.

I used AirBnb, mostly as a host, for about 3 years...

I used AirBnb, mostly as a host, for about 3 years. One day a German couple, Airbnb guests, flooded my kitchen by accidentally putting dish SOAP in my dishwasher instead of dish DETERGENT. There was ~$10,000 of damage to my wooden kitchen floors, from an estimate. Airbnb refused to cover the damage to my home. AirBnb suggested I make a homeowner's insurance claim, instead of honoring their "host guarantee." That made me furious. Then Airbnb started to ignore me for weeks.....Making me wait on hold......Making me wait for email responses......... Airbnb didn't know they were dealing with @thefakelawyer. I served and then sued Brian Chesky, CEO of AirBnb by sending a process server to this location, 888 Brannan St. in SF. I used LA county's small claims court to challenge their refusal to pay the damage for the "host guarantee."
The security guard at this address was not happy about accepting service so the process server had to do a "drop serve." Many people will tell you you cannot sue AirBnb. Not true. You just have to "drop serve" them and you can use this official office HQ location to serve them, 888 Brannan St. You can list the defendant as "Brian Chesky DBA AirBnb." That's how I sued them. Check the judgement I got for proof. After AirBnb paid the court judgement they banned me from the site forever. I sued them for the moral principle, not for the actual money. For questions on how to sue AirBnb if you have a dispute please contact me on twitter, @thefakelawyer. Thanks and good luck.

The house we rented this New Year s eve was filthy. With blood stains and other white spots on the duvets and bed sheets. I asked for a refund and it was denied for not enough evidence knowing that i sent them the photos of everything as soon as i walked into the house. This is a joke. Home Away is way better.
Never again.

I booked a room in Austin for a week. The place advertised that it was in a quiet apartment community, yet is was less than 100 feet from a six-lane freeway. It was a beautiful space with lovey hosts, but VERY loud. I canceled the reservation 20 minutes after arriving.

The hosts agreed that their ad copy was ambiguous and said that they would update their ad to better reflect the noise. According to the refund policy I would have only gotten a refund of $61, but the hosts agreed that I should get a full refund. They spent several days trying to reach an Airbnb customer service representative and navigating their website to refund my payment. They were eventually successful, and I got a refund for an additional $112.

However, even though I NEVER stayed at the property, Airbnb kept their exorbitant 12% service fees. Can you imagine canceling your hotel reservation with any hotel chain and still being charged the hotel service fees or cancelling your online shopping order and still being charged service or shipping fees?

Well, get used to it if you're going to use Airbnb. The photos, reviews, and property descriptions are rarely accurate, and you must pay in advance for your entire stay. If the property isn't what it says it is, it's your loss. Airbnb doesn't care, they get paid regardless!

Here's how Airbnb responded to my inquiry about refunding the fees because of the noise:

Hello Bonnie,

Warm greetings from Airbnb. I hope this message finds you well and you are having a great day!

My name is Trever a case manager and I will be happy to assist you anyway I can!

I am truly sorry to hear that your going through some ear pain. I can only imagine how that can be. I will be more than happy to help you out!

The only thing that I need to confirm this change is documentation of a Signed doctor s note with name of affected person and restricted travel dates. This will allow me to proceed with the full refund.

Please provide this documentation within 48 hours or the cancellations will retain penalty.

If there are any other questions or concerns you have regarding this please reply directly to this email and we will be happy to work together to come up with a solution!

Thank you for being an amazing part of Airbnb community and have a wonderful day.

Sincerely,

Trever

So let me see if I understand this correctly. I'm a responsible adult Airbnb customer, and you want me to spend more of my time and money to get a doctor s note with a diagnosis for ear pain, including "restricted travel dates," within 48 hours in order to get a refund for service fees for a property that I never used?

Please help me to understand how this makes any sense.

Btw, there's no customer service number on the Airbnb website. You have to Google to find it. Phone wait time is about 15 minutes with regular disconnects. You'll get sporadic responses to emails as well.

Consider paying extra for a hotel or find another property rental site that cares about its customers more than just the fees it collects.

Worst Customer Service ! Use a hostel or hotel instead.
I reserved a studio in Budapest and confirmed with the host, all seemed well and fine for the up coming stay. The day I went to meet the host at the flat, he didn't show up. It was raining and freezing temps. I was stuck outside with frozen fingers. He didn't pick up my calls or emails or messages from the airbnb message center. I tried to reach out to airbnb for help but they were NO help. The only "help" section was automated messaging, and ran in a dead loop. I told the system (since there was no real person or number to contact/call) my host didn't show up, it said it would message the host and would let me know if anything happens. And when I checked back later the system said "if you want to cancel and reserve another place, please do so." Like ffs! It took me hours of research and messaging to get this one place and now it expects me to find a new place just like that. I will not use airbnb again. Someone please start a competing company that actually provides customer support. This company has too much money and they just stop giving af.

If I could give negative stars I would. the airbnb experience I have had today has been the worst in all the years I have been an active airbnb customer. I was told after my money was taken and reservation accepted that the ages of my children didn't meet the rental properties guidelines. Although these restrictions where not specified at the time the reservation was made. I am now having to call and speak to several different people in order to assist me and still no airbnb representative has helped with this issue. I am so disappointed that airbnb is not taking responsibility in helping resolving this matter and still feels that its acceptable to take peoples money although I have not stepped one foot on the property I reserved. airbnb is lacking in its response time in resolving urgent issues and also in my opinion is stealing money from people during a world pandemic for services they did not supply.

D'angelo "on the west coast" ensured I would not be able to use the coupon I was emailed in the past 24 hours from now. She also would not let me speak do their manager. I'm a superhost who just deactivated 2 listings. Airbnb = meh.

They're okay, but you're definitely on your own, thank good ness I didn't have a guest destroy my house, they don't have my back.

My account was deleted my mistake with reservation...

My account was deleted my mistake with reservation for January 2015. I called 10 mins after that happened and no one could help me. A week later and 10 calls- still no answer how to get my reservation back. On Friday I talked to manager and the respond was to take care of my case by the end of the day. 3 days later- I still didn't have an agent assigned to my case. As a result I got refunded 38$ out of 100$ and that is all. I am out of the place January 2015 and 62$.
Hopefully I can figure out this situation some how. But never again I will use airbnb. The worst customer experience in my life.
