We scheduled an Airbnb home in Charleston SC in Ja...

We scheduled an Airbnb home in Charleston SC in January for May-June for family get-together. One WEEK before reservation, we were notified our reservation was cancelled by the host because host took property off Airbnb. We asked for full refund (we paid half in January and half in May). Half has been refunded. We have contacted host about remaining half, but there is no way to contact Airbnb Customer Service. Their Resolution Center online says we cannot request money from them because we are not due any money. They do not allow us to write review on Airbnb because we have not stayed on the reserved property. Very poor communication!! Lousy customer service.

My second time with AirBnb, I left the keys in the lockbox when I left, and made sure the lock box was securely locked before I left. The next day I had a review from the host accusing me of stealing her keys because she couldn't unlock her lock box. I then got a message from the AirBnB saying that the host had changed all the locks on her house and she wanted me to pay for getting the locks changed. I messaged both the host back and AirBnB support telling them that I left the keys exactly where and how I had been instructed by the host, and that there was no way I was paying for her new locks just because she couldn't get into her lock box. I haven't heard back from anyone and it's been over a week, and I'm so scared that I'm going to get a big credit card charge for the host's new house locks. I feel completely in the dark, and no one is telling me anything or keeping me in the loop.
I'm never using AirBnB again, what a nightmare!

Everything is great until you have a problem. In my case the host didn't confirm the reservation for hours and I had to come up with alternative lodging before nightfall. The host wants to give me my money back but doesn't know how and AirBnB customer service just runs you in circles saying you have to go back to the host. I guess I'll have to try to get the charge removed from my CC card. I'm sorry but this type of customer service is completely unacceptable this day and age.

Infested with ants and construction banging 7am, drilling thru concrete noise directly below my room is not a reason for refund for the 4 days I didn't stay. (I booked 7 days, couldn't tolerated it after the 3rd day.) It wasn't even the room I booked. Bait and switched. I was given an "upgrade". My check in time clearly says 1pm. I checked in 1:10pm. I tipped the guy 100 php when he gave me the keys. Then he wanted another 100 php for early check in. I asked airbnb case manager can he make me pay eventho I arrived at the scheduled time. Airbnb case manager just ignored my question (I asked 3 times). Then airbnb case manager rubs it in ."Thanks so much for understanding. I tried to offer you a coupon but it seem you don't like it." That's the kind of service you should expect from airbnb case managers. BE ADVISED airbnb charges 12%-13% fee of your total booking. Update. I gave another star. My honest review is visible to general public for the room I rented. I like airbnb just hope they would protect users from bad hosts.

I found an adorable cottage that was perfect for my stay, so I went to the website to book. After completing the steps to sign up, it told me to verify my identity with text - which I did. Then it said I already had an account and that I should log in. Following the steps to log in, it said to follow the prompts in an email that was sent to my account to reset my password. It took forever and many refreshes to receive the email, and when I did - it was in Russian. The message wasn't clear and it felt sketchy, so - instead of clicking the link, I called customer service and the auto-attendant required inputing my phone number to find my account. When I did that, the recording stated that I did NOT have an account. I don't understand! Do I have an account or don't I??? So - I cannot log in via email or phone - I guess I will not be using Air BnB!!

Worst customer service ever! Will never use this company again. Long wait times. Foreign people answering the phones that barely speak English. Don't know anything and can't get anything done. Can't transfer you to a supervisor. Supervisor has to call you back when they get the message and then they make up stories saying they tried to call you but you didn't answer. I gave them two phone numbers to try and had the phones sitting right next to me and they never rang. They claim they called. Whatever. Had to deal with it through messaging. It was a simple issue, but they refused to help resolve it. Their policy on using gift cards is very deceptive so watch out for that. Just don't do it!

I was secretly charged 368 dollars by Airbnb for no reason. I was not notified of the charge - the only reason I found out was by looking at my bank statement. After alerting airbnb of the issue, they ignored the issue for about a week. Finally after multiple requests someone got back to me saying they issued a refund , but upon checking my bank account , the refund was only for 330. I still have not received a full refund and was never told how this could have happened in the first place. This company is ridiculous and shady

A picture is worth a thousand words. This screenshot is of some of my many attempts to get a reply from Airbnb. This is in addition to multiple phone calls and emails over the last 10+ days now.
Airbnb was my favorite tool as a digital nomad, now after several weeks of HORRENDOUS customer service, I have begun searching Agoda before Airbnb. Also worth noting, Airbnb laid off tons of staff while their CEO is worth more than 3 billion dollars. Maybe it's time he felt some financial pain instead of the employees and customers??

Tired of these online companies: do not produce anything, create only a few jobs and make the founders and investors extremely rich.
Not fond of hotel or restaurant chains, but at least they built hotels and restaurants. If AirBNB disappears in the future, what is left? Nothing.

I had a problem with a rental and I could not get the needed assistance from Air B&B. They would not call me to help resolve the issues they only called at the beginning to make sure if I left the property, that I booked another AirB&B. After that they kept closing the ticket and refused to help me. I can't see any reason to continue to book through them. I have recently retired so I will be traveling a lot. They will NOT be getting my business.

Dangerous alternative to hotels, when I reported that most likely one of the guests that stays with me in the same apartment have Covid-19 they requested documentation to prove that, what a circus... The apartment that I stay in, have no doors (broken) in the bathroom, I requested to not even refund my money but to provide me a gift card that I can use in order to book something else, my request was denied, you are reading it and most likely assuming that it happened somewhere in a remote place in the world, no it happened in Boston, Ma, USA 2020. In addition to that, no supervisor available, and they answer one message every 3 hours...

What a mess! When I entered my phone as part of the profile process, the only message I received was "Sorry, we cannot send verification code to this number. Please make sure you input the correct mobile number" The number I entered is the only number I have had for the last two years. I tried several times but only got that message. I called their help line and went through a long wait to talk to a real person and that conversation lasted quite a long time. After some delays, the airbnb representative came back saying "Can you hear me?" and said it several times. Each time I replied that I could. Call was then terminated with the rep saying that he would send me an email which I have never received and at least 20 minutes have passed by. I give up!

Your company is an absolute headache to deal with. Constant errors with your app. I ve been double charged and your company didn t refund me for 10 business days. I spent hours on the phone just to speak to someone for another country, who doesn t know how to fix the issue and just says sorry. Their only suggestion is to make another account. Or my favorite one which was to change the dates to another day that didn t fit my vacation and see if that works. Lol. You guys are a joke! You ve lost me as a customer for life.

Our trip to Arizona for spring training baseball was cancelled because of the covid virus. Airbnb put out a fake notice about working with customers to get them refunds. I got on their site to officially cancel, but could not open the necessary boxes to get to the cancel site. I immediately called host Lisa, but got no answer. I left voice mails for several days, as well as numerous texts asking for a response. NEVER got one!! I later learned that you cannot navigate their website using the browser I always use, you must use google chrome. There is, of course, no mention of this on their site. I have talked to numerous people at airbnb, but get ZERO help. This is a complete scam operation. I am positive when this virus hit, they and the hosts knew they were not going to get any rentals for quite some time, so they kept our money. Upon reading all the messages here, I am certain I am right. Hopefully the better business bureau, or the attorney general will investigate this bunch of crooks!!

They talk a good game but when it comes to fulfilling their promises to hosts and guests their true colors come out. "Guests" trash a unit i rented, violate the house rules and damage the property. The host guarantee was worthless and Airbnb did nothing to help. Customer service was not only rude but also difficult to reach.

I will never stay in an airbnb nor will I use their platform again. They cost me thousands and did not fulfill their obligations.

First of all, the only 4 and 5 stars on here seem to be employees and friends of employees visiting the corporate office. Who cares what the corporate office looks like? My daughter booked a place in London for her 7 week internship. The host agreed to the dates, took her money and then 1 month out cancelled with no explanation. Simply posted room unavailable. We tried reaching out to him by Linked In. No response. Messaged through Airbnb---no response. Had to call corporate to get her money refunded. Now there are few options left, as she thought she had a place. This is very confusing and unprofessional. All they offered was a $100 credit. Seriously, look for alternatives.

I had cancelled my reservation and requested a refund of $342 due to Covid-19. 5 of the 9 ladies who were set to attend are registered nurses, including myself , currently working on the front lines at various hospitals in Ontario. As healthcare professionals we collectively made the conscious decision to postpone this affair until it is safe to congregate in groups again. We are not willing to put our friends at risk given that we are potential exposed to the virus on a daily basis. Currently we are set to receive $ 17.39. I had messaged the host ( Kashy Homes) and have received no response . It is absolutely appalling that in this time an automatic refund of 100% of the money put down is not provided . If this is the type of service that air bnb is going to provided to its customers . I want no part of this establishment . It s clear that money is the priority . Do I physically have to send a picture of our nursing badges to show you how severe this truly is . I am very disappointed in how air bnb has handled this pandemic . They cannot see or understand how this pandemic has effected guests you have hosted and what they may be going through during this difficult time. Disgusting .

I have not had any problems with airbnb yet, but they need to change some policies, such as extending the days to give qualification and stars to the host, 14 days are not enough, after 14 days expires and you can not leave your qualification. Also, they should inform the guest, if the guest do not make their qualification to the host, the host can do it on the guest, but, the host takes advantage, to say what he want about the guest. If the CEO, the airbnb read this commentary, please extend the days and inform the guest, it is important to make a qualification.

I really enjoy coming to Airbnb HQ, Even the wait to sign the NDA is OK, it gives you time to take in the vast lobby and decor. For example, three different shades of green ivy. The bike parking is more than sufficient. The cuisine and beverage service is world class. It's fun to face the atrium while riding the glass elevators.

Airbnb is a great idea and I was excited to try a new place. However after sending in copies of my Passport and Driver license my account was setup and verified. When I went to reserve a room I was told I needed to provide a copy of my Bank Statement to prove the Credit Card was actually mine. This is absolutely ridiculous considering my ID, Address and Billing information all match, I have never had any hotel ask for my Bank Statement. I'll stick with real hotels then.

Agree , it's impossible to get help. Yes they have a phone number but that department is just the call center. They take a "ticket" and someone from the escalation/ resolution team will contact us, I've been waiting 10 days with zero follow up. I call the customer service number daily and all they say is "someone will get back to you"

I am in a nightmare with Airbnb. Honestly at this time I feel so frustrated that I feel suicidal. I spent all the money we had to upgrade our place. Bought furniture and everything to make the place really comfortable for guests. After spending over $20,000, my account was blocked and I cant book any guests in the middle of Super Bowl season. Now I have a fully furnished house that I cannot really rent that way and a huge mortgage due and no income. On top of that all the guests that stayed for the past 2 months I have not even been paid $1. It s been almost 4 weeks since my account has been blocked and I call cs all day every day. No one really knows why. All they say is that they are escalating it and no response from anyone at all and no one to talk to. I am beyond frustrated, disappointed and depressed. I regret signing up to be a host much

Pray that you never have any issue with your reservation. Their support is nonexistent. Their customer service is detached from their actual company; they simply collect your information and tell you someone will call you back. Research reviews of your place outside their website.

Airbnb's mobile web is a disaster. It allowed me to do a search, but then it abruptly redirected me to a sign in page. Halfway through signing in it cut me off and redirected me to download the app. I don't want your app. Also, there is no easy way to close the menu - you can't just slide it shut. You're forced to make a selection. It's hard to go back to a previous page. It's typical of an aggressive product team that's been trained to force people to only move forward in the process.

As a superhost and landlord with them for 2+ years I have been appalled at how we have been treated. I strongly suggest not putting your property up through them. They have blatant disregard for owners, refunding full stays to guests for false claims, shutting down your account costing us thousands and ruining renters vacations citing a policy we didn't even know existed and were quite willing to fix if given the opportunity. Such a disappointment. Please dont give them any money.

My account was put on hold for no reason. I called on September 10 and they told me they would escalate my issue. I called again today and they said my issue would be escalated again. I'm trying to book 1500.00 worth of rooms and this is their response. Oh just wait few days is what was told to me. I have had no issues or no bar reviews in my profile. This company really does a piss poor job of customer service!

A site that combines haraam and nibes to be able to practice fraud on people and the place is AIRBNB. The owner of the property can do what he wants. Imagine that I wanted to book a hotel for a price. When I told the owner to ask him for some information he raised the price three times. The excuse was that he got it wrong. If I booked for you I was involved with him and with my family and customer service you can not do something for you and there are many comments saying that their booking was canceled before arrival a week or less Imagine in the seasons come to find that your reservation is canceled because the owner found someone paying the most disrespectful site with all defects The Others are better than stages

They continue to hold my deposit for a trip in August 2020 to Edinburgh, Scotland after the airline has canceled my flights, Scotland is locked down, all activities in August are canceled and we are in the midst of a Global Pandemic! Read their cancellation policy carefully, they are unlike most other B&Bs in that they only allow you 48 hours from your booking to cancel and receive a full refund. This is a predatory business that is heartless behind all the glitz and glamor of a fancy website. DO NOT do business with Air B&B, you re better off booking with a major hotel chain that will allow you to cancel with a full refund right up to the booking during this Global Pandemic. Air B&B is heartless, morally bankrupt and Not a Values based company...I will never use their service again and recommend you not use them as well.

Hello, Airbnb is breaking the law in most Countries, Cities and Counties. The Case Managers are a divergent tactic, they will bully you and talk to you condescending.

Then they just stop communicating with you. Bottomline go to the Government website where you live and research the short term rental laws.

There are currently numerous Countries and Cities that have ongoing lawsuits against Airbnb. They refuse to speak with Code Enforcement Officer. Contact the Code Enforcement Office in your local jurisdiction. They will help you because Airbnb breaks the Law and they contributed zero revenue to a City because they break the law.

Renting a cottage in Canada and we also live in Ca...

Renting a cottage in Canada and we also live in Canada. We had to contact Air BnB because when booking the cottage we were quoted in Canadian dollars by the Canadian owner of the cottage, however, due to the settings on the Air BnB website, it was in American dollars, which we didn t notice and we were charged to our credit card in USD. When
We contacted the company to find out why we were charged in USD they explained the settings have to be changed to Canadian funds. We didn t realize that, explained we are Canadians renting from a Canadian in Canada and didn t make sense to pay USD if they could just do a refund or switch it over to Canadian funds themselves. We provided the email/texts between the owner and ourselves the proof of the Canadian quote. It was taken to a manager level apparently because the agent online didn t have the authority to do the switch.
Received a response saying it was our fault not checking therefore no refund or switch to Canadian dollars.
They didn t even consider the fact this was a first time booking and since we were renting from a Canadian we assumed the sight was straight forward in Canadian. If we had realized it was an American company then we would have been vigilant. So to be punished for not being vigilant is actually very sad. When it would be super easy to just redo the booking in Canadian which is a very simple procedure and doesn t cost anything to anyone. It s bad customer service. We were not scamming. It was an honest mistake that would have taken max ten minutes to correct to have happy customers. Won t be using AirBnB again. Be aware if you are using this company for booking it isn t always a Canadian site you are logging into.

With others in hospitality and travel industries offering full refunds through at least August, no questions asked, why is Airbnb dragging their feet? We are on LOCKDOWN. It will not be safe to travel anytime soon for anyone. My reservation is for July in Boston when I had a residency scheduled for my school program - naturally my school cancelled that a few weeks ago. My flights were easily refunded. My Airbnb host refuses to refund me because "too many other people have cancelled". Well of course they did BECAUSE IT IS NOT SAFE! I am in Seattle, where we have flattened the curve BECAUSE WE ARE TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY. It is time for Airbnb to take it seriously, too.

AirBnB does not listen to their host/property owners. They have managed to set up a communication firewall between their hosts and the company. Yes you can reach some call center agent offshore who has no authority to help. I would not recommend them to anyone wanting to list their property.

You all should figure how to be more hospitable, how to HELP the homeowners, leave the care of the guest to us and how to be LESS controlling. We have 1100 plus 5 star reviews as hosts, I think we're taking care of the guest just fine.

OWNERS BEWARE!

OWNERS BEWARE!
Here is how it works with AIRBNB: you rent your $250000 home to strange people who will smoke weed, drugs or cigarettes inside your home if they want to smoke weed or cigarettes, break stuff, leave the property open without any recourse or any consequences because airbnb does not require deposit. It is a great deal for guests. it is not so great for the owners. Guests smoked marijuana at my property and I could not rent it for a few weeks. Airbnb asked my to produce an evidence of weed smoke. I sent them email from my cleaning lady who alerted me about it and her contact info to testify. They want a "material evidence of smoking marijuana" at the property. How do I produce a material evidence of the smoke?

Just look at their review ranking here, they can't keep the rating based on their own policy and standards. It's a shame. With such a metaphoric policy that doesn't mean anything and any time they can interpret it to something in their own favor!
Who are these tricksters anyways asking people for their IDs? They can not keep neither guests safety not the hosts when it comes to situation that a middle man is needed.

I'm very frustrated with Air BNB Customer Service. My listing mistakenly shows I'm a "Long Term"Host, when I've been licensed to host short term in my county. My listing is incorrect, and I haven't been able to rent my condo for months now! I've missed out on high season here in Florida, because of Air BNB's mistake. I called them and emailed weeks ago and still NO RESOLUTION and it's costing me thousands of dollars of lost income. Air BNB has been a major disappointment!

Started to use this app and I was liking it but now they have shut down my credit card for no dang reason
Maybe because I canceled out on a trip because I did not like the host the week before maybe that's it I do not know customer service is pretty sorry in the sense that they will not let things go and let me use my card it's a shame because by the time you get to where you need to go hotels are full or too pricey at this point so I had to stay in my truck over a weekend because they had shut down my card this is so stupid so if you're someone that is trying to use your card credit card beware if you're a member pan a nice price for your membership here beware because you're losing customers by the way they handled the credit card thing

DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

If I could give zero stars I would. I am having a terrible time trying to handle a matter with customer service. It is absolutely impossible to speak with someone who can actually help. All Airbnb does is send frustrating emails.

4 years as a host. Last year I grossed $50,000. Which makes airbnb $10,000 in fees. Despite superhost, and all the best reviews and hundreds of successful stays. When I had a guest damage my home with her cats pissing all over my bed, the guest lied and airbnb forced me to return half her money. The total cost was just over $3000. Airbnb only gave me $472. They closed the case and I asked to appeal. There is no appeal. Airbnb is it. You cannot call them. Only email the team that deals w real issues. They are totalitarian. Their 33 page terms of service allow them to do anything. You will never win. I left airbnb and they terminated my account. They called a guest who had just arrived and tried to talk him into leaving. He refused. They borderline threatened him to leave. He stayed. They cancelled my other guests. Fortunately I had some of their numbers and called them and they stayed w me cash. I was a huge supporter before. Now I have learned the hard way.

Competition drives better business, air bnb needs a competitor or revising. I was a host, my 2 month old bed was broken. The inspector I sent pictures too, stated it was not covered by their insurance, bc it was due to normal wear & tear, remember now, this was a 2 month bed that the guess broke. Very disappointed, I don't recommend EVER host or being a guest through this company

Airbnb has the WORST customer service of any company I ve ever been engaged with. They have a super slow responses time (days) and then when they finally respond they don t do anything to fix your problem.

I m a frequent traveler, both using AirBnb and other hotel sites.

Today AirBnb decided on deleting our review about our last stay. We stayed at a host where the description was not honest. Therefor, we gave an honest review to/about the host. AirBnb responded to us by deleting our review. This means that you can never trust all the 5-star host reviews at this so called service . I would never recommend anyone to use this service. I will never do it again! And to be honest - it should be ZERO stars here but unfortunately it is impossible.

I have been using Airbnb's services for many years and I have stayed more than 60 times with them. Within the last year I have seen a decline in Airbnb's customer support. They are slow and sometimes do not reply.
If you need any help from Airbnb support, you might be wasting your time.

We booked a home and the week before we were set t...

We booked a home and the week before we were set to go on our trip, we had a death in the family. The funeral was the weekend we were to go on our trip, so we cancelled Monday early morning right at 6am (when we found out about my Aunt's passing). We missed the host's cancellation deadline by 6 whole hours and she indicated that she would keep our deposit. FINE, we will take it up with AirBnB. So we file a claim with them and we were told that they would give us our money back if we could get them a death certificate, which we did as soon as it was available. We got the email that our money would be refunded by July 19th, and here we are on the 27th, and still haven't gotten paid. We replied to the email indicating we would get paid by the 19th, and it bounced backed because our "claim is closed?" How is it closed if the fund never reached my account?! So after 5 calls in 6 days, and many frustrating conversations later, we're still without our money we were promised. No one can give us any answers and now they are blaming my bank for our funds never arriving. I used to be an avid AirBnB user and my family loves them as well. I'm telling ALLLLL of them to never use their services again because their procedures are severely flawed. I work for a fintech company myself and have never encountered such an absurd and highly frustrating customer service experience.

I had a horrible experience regarding cockroaches....

I had a horrible experience regarding cockroaches. I was freaked out and screaming when I watched one dying and shaking in the bathroom. I thought it was an isolated incident and this is not gonna happen again. But in the next early morning, when I turned on the light I saw some are roaming around on the wall one after another. I was losing it and kept on screaming for the nightmare, but I had to get dressed as quicky as possible for the day trip but as soon as I went down to the floor, one of them ran on my feet. That was disgusting ever!! I dont remember how many of them running around in the room as they are super quick and kept on showing up and disappearing.

I did claim this nightmare to the host and Airbnb. But the host said its because of my food I ate in the room. But I have a common sense not to drop food to attract such a huge number of cockroaches. Also, the garbage box is in the living room not in my room.

This is more than unbelievable but Airbnb turned down my request, partial refund, because I did not take pics of them!!! So there is no evidence!!! Who could take a pic of something that you really really hate?!?!

I simply cannot believe all of this.

If thats only 1 showing up, I could have probably torelated it by compromising...but 5-ish of them running around in my room (and on my feet) that I pay for?? I never ever get it. Its no longer comfy room its a punishment room.

I cannot be disappointed more than this. Still, I have a flashback of the nightmare that gives me dizzy and awful sensation of disgust and puking.

Absolutely horrible customer service!!! I was notified this morning of fraud on my bank card. Someone charged over $800 on AIRBNB. I called the bank took care of that but then called AirBNB and they confirmed the account that used my card was NOT me and confirmed the card was mine and that was fraud. Instead of canceling the payment so it can be released in my bank account they are making me wait... god knows how long for someone to reach out to me. Horrible! You clearly confirmed it was fruad... cancel the charge in the account that used my card illegally!

I'm a Super Host ( 4 years hosting ) with a 4.8 rating and over 85% five stars. And I do not recommend Airbnb to anyone out there planning on becoming a host!!! Airbnb supports White Suprematism and will take your reviews down if you mention anything that reveals their true colors!!! As I host, I'm deeply saddened to know that the community I dedicate my time to is a community based on lies and repression of speech.

They cancelled my booking 4 hours before my arriving to the location. They offered another booking and guaranteed the same price and a parking spot my car. 4 hours later i had to spend $137 extra for booking, $92 for parking and 4 hours spent on the phone back and forth with customer service. I ve dealt with bad customer service but let me tell you this; this is the worst by far.

I have spent over 5-6k with this company over the years but i will never use them again. Even if i have pay double the amount i will go somewhere else. It can t get worse than this!

This company is a scam. They took over $1000 from me for a reservation. Then they claimed I had a felony on my record which I don't. I know that because I have a letter of good conduct required to do business with the government as a software engineer. They claimed they refunded it. When I called my bank, they asked for Airbnb to call them for the reverse transaction id. After calling Airbnb for the transaction id, airbnb told me my account did not exist and they would not help me. So yeah Airbnb are scam artists and they took my money because the company are scammers.

The CEO Brian Chesky mentioned they were going to refund customers in cash. I tried to click refund and it allowed only credit option. I called in and twice they escalated this and said NO. "we are given specific guidelines." This is not a business i want to work with going forward.

AVOID AIRBNB AT ALL COSTS! THE WORST CUSTOMER SUPPORT EVER!
We are (two families with 3 small children) trapped in Greece right now by a reservation on airbnb for 350 /night villa(paid) which was a contaminated dirty abandoned place, we refused check in and immediatly called airbnb customer support(they told us to leave the place and be available for next 24 hours waiting airbnb solution), we left the place in a very tens situation(5 angry persons arround us) and started looking for an accomodation soltuion at midnight in highseason. Last 24 hours we called several times airbnb, our "case manager" next day asked for photo documentaion(first customer support did not mentioned about it) to refund the paid amount, that means a kind of suicide trying to make photos with angry owner &Co watching every single move we made. So the airbnb solution was the owner has promised that he will clean the place and will waiting for us . Airbnb, are you kidding?
Meanwhile we paid about 170 each family/night for our 2 nights stay at a only available hotel we found!

As a host of numerous properties, we thought this would work well as an alternative to VRBO's new greedy process, taking the control out of our hands. This site is horrible - horrible. They have allowed guests to cancel the last 2 out of 3 bookings, tying up my dates for weeks, because the guests made up some excuse about not wanting to sign a contract (even though it is a requirement on my site and posted). We have been using this contract for 7 years with never a beef - and we have never held a damage deposit - we have perfect reviews for 7 years. Then - they penalized me for requiring a damage deposit, even though they said I could as long as I posted it. I posted it - it is in the contract - but I am not allowed to collect one - and they do not hold one. Who in their right mind is going to give out a beach property with no damage deposit. They said our "collections department will attempt to collect for damages). We never have to take part of a deposit - because we hold one. If there is no recourse (they said they would refuse them future service - a lot of good that does me), then guests have no reason to take care of a property. Now I am going in the hole by paying a penalty because I refuse to have a guest with no damage deposit. Pulling our units off of here, and we will pursue other sites we have listed on. In 7 years, I have never spent this much time on nonsense. People want to book - they sign a contract before we take money - we collect - they get their money back - we get a good review - they come back year after year and get a 10% discount on future stays. Easy process. Everyone is getting so greedy that they are ending up with immature young people who do not see how a contract is of benefit to them. If they allowed us to have a contract and required damage deposits to be released later, it would bring them a much better clientele, and they would have better than 0 to 1-star ratings.

As a host I found this organization the worst marketer for my product.

You have been warned!

Terrible customer service!
No cancellation policy that syncs with our desired cancellation policy.
No humans or management to escalate.

Air BnB (Bad & realBad) get it together!

Due to Covid19 I had to cancel a work trip where I was planning to stay at an Airbnb. Even though there were stay at home orders for both my state and the state I was traveling to, I wasn't able to get a full refund for my reservation. The condo owner gave me a full refund (even though he didn't have to), but Airbnb wouldn't refund me the "processing" fee - which is all done by a computer. I find this practice very un-ethical in the circumstances that we're in right now.
