Terms of Service

Last updated: July 9, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of trustburn.com and trustburn.org (the "Service"), operated by Trustburn. By creating an account, posting a review, or using any part of the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. The service

Trustburn is a platform where consumers can research, rate, and review businesses, and where businesses can create a company profile, respond to reviews, collect new feedback, and — on paid plans — access additional tools such as News & Press publishing, Priority Spotlight placement, dofollow links, and reputation management.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized use.

3. Reviews and user content

Reviews must reflect a genuine experience with the business being reviewed. Fake, incentivized-but-undisclosed, defamatory, or off-topic reviews are prohibited and may be removed. You retain ownership of the content you post, but by posting it you grant Trustburn a worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote it as part of the Service (including in search results and marketing). We reserve the right to moderate, edit for formatting, or remove content that violates these Terms.

4. Business accounts, listings & claiming

Anyone may add or claim a business listing that represents a company they own or are authorized to manage. Claiming a listing gives you tools to respond to reviews, update company details, and access paid features — it is not, by itself, a certification that the reviews shown are independently verified beyond our standard moderation. False claims of ownership may result in account suspension.

5. Subscriptions, paid features & billing

Trustburn offers paid business plans (Starter, Growth, Pro) billed monthly or annually, and standalone one-time purchases such as a single News & Press article or a month of Priority Spotlight placement. By purchasing a subscription, you authorize us (via Stripe) to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. You can cancel a subscription at any time from your billing settings; cancellation stops future renewals but does not retroactively refund the current billing period, except as described in our Refund Policy. Feature availability, included quotas, and pricing may change with notice.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: post false, defamatory, or fraudulent reviews or content; manipulate or attempt to manipulate ratings (including through fake accounts or paid fake reviews); scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service's normal operation; upload malware or attempt unauthorized access to any account or system; or use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

7. Intellectual property

The Trustburn name, logo, and the Service's design, code, and compiled review data are owned by Trustburn or its licensors and protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission, beyond normal use of the Service as intended.

8. Third-party links and services

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party websites and services (including payment processing via Stripe). We're not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third parties, and linking to them doesn't imply endorsement.

9. Disclaimers

The Service, including all reviews and business information, is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Reviews reflect the opinions of individual users, not Trustburn's own assessment of a business. We do our best to moderate content but cannot guarantee that every review is accurate, complete, or unbiased.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trustburn will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim arose.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Trustburn harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior, or if required by law. You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time; some obligations (like payment for services already rendered) survive termination.

13. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation via our Support channel before any formal proceeding.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll make reasonable efforts to notify active users. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
