Have not used the alarm part of the system as our city has an annual fee for permission to have an alarm. They also have a heavy fine for false alarms and with two small children that is a big possibility.
Don't know if it's my phone or the internet, but by the time I get to the doorbell camera app the people are gone from the door. So I have an expensive way to lock or unlock my front door remotely.

This is the piss poor work Vivint technicians do when they install outside camera's but not only that they came both times to my house unprepared and unorganized forgetting tools and equipment that I ordered so on top of all this we called customer service to file a complaint they didn't even apologize for anything and would not send anyone out to fix right away and hung up on me so I emailed the CEO and he NEVER responded and now we cancelled our service they want us to pay off our equipment so they can take it from us and 500 dollar early termination fee which is all Bull****. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ADT.

I have had Vivint for six years. I chose this company because of the positive and helpful customer service. Six years ago my house was burglarized, so I needed the empathy and understanding Vivint provided. Over the six years the alarm has gone off (accidents, errors, possible attempts of a break in, etc) periodically. Except for one time - everyone is entitled to an off day - the experiences have been pleasant, helpful, and timely. I go to bed each night feeling secure. I leave my house daily or for vacation knowing my house is in good hands. Thanks, Vivint!

Read the fine print, what you are sold is not what you may be expecting. Had ADT before and was fully covered all windows, doors, fire and glass breakage in every room but older equipment and pads. I told the rep, he said that it would be seamless and cost no money **if they could use the existing system** and usually ADT was a system they could use. Long story short - was not seamless - intro package did not cover all the equipment by far, no fire, no breakage, not even half the windows and doors AND they could not use ADT system. Did not find this out until second visit since on first visit installer realized what was up from my conversation, and said he had to have his supervisor take a look. So, the move cost me over $ 700, since by the time it was all laid out, 3 months had gone by and the *5 year contract* until 2019 was in. In their favor, supervisor gave me a 2 x 1 deal on the additional equipment, otherwise it would have cost me almost $ 1500.

As far as the equipment is concerned, the batteries have to be changed all the time on the door lock and window and door sensors, so have to have to longest working batteries. The panel works great and when have an alarm they call right away. I give 3 stars because of the initial not so upfront sale, which is my bad also for not reading the real fine print and going with a salesperson's word, and for the constant maintenance on the equipment.

They have lived up to every promise they made at the initial consultation. Service is great! We would not use any other company for our home security system.

I recently moved into a house with Vivint system already installed and payed off so I signed up for the monitoring service to move the system into my name with the plan of cancelling after 1 month. At the end of the month I called in to cancel and they told me they required 30 days notice of cancellation in writing via email, so I would be required to pay for an additional month of service. I sent the email as soon as I got off of the phone with them.

The next month they charged me again so I called them up and the representative said the refund should be issued in the next 3 to 5 days. Two weeks later there was still no refund so I called again (3rd call). This time the representative said that they had not received my cancellation notice. I forwarded the original email so they had proof of the date it was sent. He told me again that it would be 3 to 5 days before the refund goes through.

Two weeks later still no refund so I call again (4th call). The representative tries to tell me that the cancellation notice was less than 30 days ago so she can't issue the refund, I then relayed the conversation I had with the previous rep. and she puts me on hold for ten minutes while she searched for a note verifying what I said. She finally finds it, apologizes for missing that and again tells me the refund will be issued in 3 to 5 days.

Today (less than a week later) I see they have charged me for another month! I call again (5th call) and tell the representative that I now need a refund for two months, he goes into the notes and says "I'm sorry but the cancellation notice must be given 30 days in advance". I told him to go back and look at the email because it was sent more than 30 days ago. He found the note and again said the refund will be issued in 3 to 5 days.

I am about an inch away from reporting Vivint as fraud to my bank and to the better business bureau. If I have to make one more call I will! This whole fiasco has been crazy. I can't believe anyone would want to do business with them.

Terrible customer service! They raise the monthly bill unexpectedly and with no reason as to why. You will be on hold at least 45 minutes when you call customer service. They give you the run around. I'm glad we are out of contract because we cancelled our account. The other persons review was correct that the CEO doesn't care about your issues your having with his company. I reported them to the better business bureau. This is not how you should treat a loyal customer after 5 years of service.

Recently we had to have the smoke detector replaced. Because of the old detector continually sending out a beep that would not stop we removed the detector and stored it. It was a week or so before the tech came out to replace it. We had misplaced the old unit so he couldn't take it back with him. He gave us a number to call to get instructions on how to send the old unit back. Almost just as soon as he left we found the unit behind an obstruction in the pantry. I called the number and was told they would be sending out instructions and an RMA to send the old unit back. That has been months ago and we've received nothing and still have the old unit.

as a business owner and having security at my home I will never consider this service again. Cameras and thermostats are constantly having issues. Cameras are down and have been having issues for months and not a single camera of 6 is working. They can't even come look until late next week meaning my place of business is unsecured, yet I am still required to pay for it when services are not being rendered. I should have listened to others who said avoid like the plaque, maybe you will learn from me. Don't touch this system, you will hate it.

Over the past month and a half, we have experience...

Over the past month and a half, we have experienced numerous equipment failures, outages, resets, etc. Not once has Vivint proactively reached out to send someone to our home to ascertain the issues with the equipment. We re constantly experiencing false alarms and no alarms when he system is armed. This leaves my family in a vulrnearble position because the monitoring and equipments services are not up to par.

I expressed to the supposed customer loyalty team member that given the circumstances, given that the previous customer loyalty representative did not return my call on May 2nd, etc., that it was time for us to mutually part ways. He persistently ignored everything I said, talked over me, and kept offering me a technician, equipment replacement, and two free months! Vivint hears, but it does not listen. I told him that we d done enough talking over the past week and it was time for both parties to part ways.

He stated that I could send in a letter with the remaining balance of $621 to fulfill my contractual obligations. Really!!!! I told him it s going to cost Vivint $600 to send a tech, replace equipment, and gratis two months. For the $600 Vivint is willing to spend, Vivint should simply zero multi account out. His reply, I ve got a May 7, 8, 9 for a service appointment, which day would you like? Again, Vivint hears, it does not listen. I hung up in frustration. Needless to say I was gullible enough to sign up with Vivint thinking they were different compared to other service providers. It s clear that they are not providing a working service where my family is endangered because of their ineptitude.

To top it off, it s amazing that each time there s a complaint, someone from their Vivint Solar team shows up within a couple of hours to try to sell us solar panels. HA! Forget it. Save yourself the heartache and stay away from Vivint Home Security!

Inconsiderate service technicians! If given a time window, the technician should arrive well within that range -- NOT wait until the last minute to call and say they are coming AFTER that window. He was also unapologetic about it and didn't care about the inconvenience to you and your schedule. This is how Vivant treats their good-paying, long-time customers.

I've been with Vivint Smart Home Security since before they changed their name 8 years ago. They were good then, but now they are even better! They are quick to respond when my alarm goes off even if it's a faults alarm. The cell phone remote connection system is the best. Especially when I live in Alaska and I'm out of State (some 5200 miles away) and I need to adjust the thermostat in my house to keep my pipes from freezing. The remote connection system is also great when I'm that far away and the alarm goes off. They would contact me first then need be they would contact the authorities to verify the house is secure. One time, I was in California and my house sitter raced out of the garage man door to take the kids to school and go to work triggering off the alarm. Vivnt contacted me right away. I was able to contact the house sitter who was unable to return to the house until after work, so Vivant sent the authorities to check the house before the house sitter and kids returned from school. Once the State trooper's confirmed by calling me direct that the house was free of harm, I was able to remotely activate the alarm from CA knowing that everyone would be safe when they got home. The Vivint team stayed with me during the whole process even though it was an accidental alarm trigger. For me to know that the Vivnt team was there throughout all the steps and that the kids would have a safe return home from school was worth all my faithful years with Vivint Home Security Systems.

We have been with Vivint for a few years now and overall pretty good service. Several problems I have had are the batteries went bad the first year of service. I called and they sent batteries ONE MONTH later. That is NOT good service. In speaking with the folks that answer the phones is where I have some other complaints. They seem frivolous and light on responsibilities. They answer like I have bothered them. Our service overall has been good. but I find them very expensive at the same time. Sometimes I have to wait 2-3 weeks for a tech to arrive for service and that is too long to have to wait for security when I live in a high crime area. When contract is up I will seek other companies for better price and service.

My experience with Vivint has always been great. I once decided to bomb my home for roaches and forgot to cover the smoke detector. I immediately received a call from Vivint, explaining to them was embarrassing but they were very helpful and understanding and called off the fire department, who called me either way just to check up on me and make sure everything was alright.
Every time we accidentally trip the alarm by opening the back door without turning off the alarm first they are always there to make sure we're ok.

I would not say I am exactly happy with them. The thermostat that we used would not work half the time and finally we replaced with a regular one because it kept failing every time it got cold out. The motion sensors do not always work correctly, door lock does not lock from my phone anymore. I have had multiple service calls and have basically given up on the system. It just basically sits there doing nothing now. The camera records every minute even when no one is around the house at all. I would not recommend the system at this point.
On the plus side their people at the customer service center are really nice and easy to talk with and have a great way of doing things.

Overall, I have been pleased with the service supplied by Vivant. My only negative is that we have one keypad which is in the kitchen and when the alarm is triggered, I cannot hear the keypad from our bedroom - and the keypad is the main communication source for Vivant. I have always had a keypad in our bedroom as well as in the kitchen. I don't know why I can't have two keypads, but that is what I was told. Other than that, I am very pleased with the system.

My wife & I had a previous system which was fine as well but, we had a visitation from some people walking thru our neighborhood advertising Vivint. We liked the advertising & decided to try but became very sceptical as the technician was tearing the former system from the wall. But I like d the fact that he was very detailed in everything he was doing. Since being with Vivint, No disappointments, no complaints....well except 1 as of late . The phone app has the photo snap you can take from the Vivint Camera. Is it possible to make the camera movable? We have had a few mishaps once or twice as far as false alarms & 1 real alarm ...Vivints' response team was always there. Easy features to understand on both home & phone app. Gotta Love' Vivint. This company does knowingly take advantage of the elderly! My mother has been without the system being connected and working for 6+ months, regardless of calls into customer service. She has always had connection issues for the entirety of the 5 year contract. Her contract has been up and she called to let them know that she was changing service providers and the new company sent off notification as well. They claimed they never received and notifications and continued to charge her anyway! First they claimed that her contract was not up but when confronted with the initial sign up dates; they began claiming that she extended her contract! Proof of this? There is none!! No recording of the supposed call, nothing!! Disgusting customer service and extremely deceptive practices. They are still charging her and we've been fighting this for over two months now. Absolutely no respect for elderly veterans!

12/23/17 10pm. Our Vivint panel said that our garage door was open so my wife swiped the button to "close our garage". In fact, our garage was already closed. The Vivint equipment was malfunctioning showing the garage door was open when it was closed. Due to this malfunction our garage was actually opened instead of closed and our garage was open all night long. That night we were robbed. We had wallets, cash, keys, and Christmas presents stolen from our cars inside the garage. After all was said and done we are talking about over $4,000 in damages.

After calling the police and card companies the next morning we called Vivint expecting they would try to do something to make it right. After 45 minutes of diagnosing the issue, there was an issue with the equipment, but they told me "You should have checked your garage" and "we are not liable for the theft". ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME???? It is Vivint's equipment that malfunctioned and made us vulnerable to this theft in the first place! Why would I spend over 70 bucks a month for HOME SECURITY, only to have that system cause the theft??? After escalating to a manager I was told "we assume this malfunction has been happening for some time. If you would have told us about it, and then you were robbed, then we would be liable". As a home SECURITY company, you would think they would want to take care of their customers when they have been robbed. Even more so when it was Vivint's fault in the first place. Shame on you Vivint! We will be actively sharing our story and steering people away from your products and services!!!

If you are seriously considering this *PLEASE READ*
Had read all the reviews and it is very straight forward! They give me the equipment at no cost..... They charge me to activate it with the call center/local authorities. I sign an agreement to keep their service for 5 years at the rate I desire based on my package choice. I chose the Full Home Package. They next day had a professional show up (Derek) and complete my system within a few hours. Very very simple to use and very very effective, the only thing i have a complaint on is, they need more... like an aftermarket site you can purchase more "fun stuff" to be added. They install hundreds to thousands of these a day depending on the time of year and they design and develop their own equipment and do their own monitoring, so they are saving a ton of money by skipping the middle men. If you think about it thats pretty amazing considering they started in 1999 in a trailer selling pest control and did 1000 accounts now install more than 100,000 accounts a year, and have over 1,000,000 customers nation wide!
As far as the monitoring which is truly the most important part because the sooner the right authorities know about what is really going on they can get a quicker response, wether you have a fire, break-in, or medical emergency they even give cameras so you can see what is happening right on your phone and they are perfect for home and office use. Vivint also uses cellular technology in the Sky Control (thats their touchscreen keypad) i didn't need a phone line in the home which is good cause I don't have a one but they can also use the speaker that is built on the keypad to listen/talk into the house so they can better determine the incident! My favorite part though is using my iPhone to control my smart home! I no longer need to worry if my door is locked, or if my garage door is shut, or if my furnace has gone out, if someone breaks in, if i have a fire. So many things that this provides and all you gotta do is commit to their price, which I did the math and they are really giving everyone a very good deal because if you add up all the equipment (obviously its high retail prices, and comes fully warrantied) Which my system was close to $3000.00 minus the value of the contract $4199.4 thats $1200 for monitoring divided by 60 months comes out to $20/ month and the thermostat alone will probably save me at least that in energy cost. I know the industry very well and they are definitely the best bang for your buck company! Now i'm just excited for them to bring solar and internet to my neighborhood! *cheers* Here's to a Smart Simple Safe Living!

I am not all satisfied with your service. I have exhausted calling your office and informing that each time I make a payment and I would like to request that my receipt be sent to me via e-mail. The e-mail address that is on file for the receipt to be sent is wrong. I have tried to let you know several times but to no avail as no one is listening. Also my name is not ARACELI ACISTA, it is ARACELI ACOSTA. You all cannot even address me properly. I am anxiously looking forward to my contract expiring so that I can change to another company that can accommodate my simple requests. Each month I must go on your web site to get my bill, because not even that is sent to me via email as I have requested.

Terrible terrible terrible! Equipment never works, charge $50 for a tech to come out and fix something you're already paying for. Oh... and they lied to us to have us sign up and nobody will do anything about it. They have been ignoring my emails for a couple weeks now with these issues. If a "sales" guy named James Carpenter comes around tell him to get the hell away. He told us our house was considered a "model home" and as long as we put the sign in front of our house and post good things about vivint on social media then we would get the equipment for free. Well the first bill came.... guess what wasn't free? Yup... the equipment. I've tried calling and emailing and everyone says they've never heard of that. James Carpenter then told us he was emailing us our contract so we didn't have to keep the hard copy (which had the equipment for free on it) so we got the email. Me trusting Vivint (my mess up) i threw away the hard copy before reviewing the emailed contract. They don't believe me and refuse to help. I wish they would just make this right. So i would urge anyone not to sign up with them. In fact join my movement to inform others of this. I'd give anything to be done with this company....

I would rate Vivint about 4 stars. Everytime I call I get incredible customer service. However, a couple of hiccups along the way caused me to call the salesman who sold me the package and it was apparent he only wanted my business and had already moved on. Obviously, he didn't appreciate hearing from me and was very rude!

Horrible alarm company and their system components don't work properly while they keep telling you a software update is due out soon. Only you discover that was a lie and they fail to repair your alarm system. They stall, lie and they are to be avoided at all costs. DO NOT BUY OR GET INTO A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY! Check all the complaints and various state attorney's complaints about this shady company. The complaints are many and there have been numerous lawsuits involving their service and their contracts. AVOID VIVINT! Just get a DIY alarm system at Home Depot or Lowes. Vivint charges 300 + percent of the actual cost and value of their shoddy equipment.

This system has been pretty much useless to us. We stopped using the motion detector about a week after instalation because our animals kept setting it off and the police threatened to start charging us for false alarms. The camera was useful but after we switched Internet servers we weren't able to get it working again. I like the coded locks but the batteries run out every month with almost no warning, leaving us locked out of the house unexpectedly. We pay $70 per month for a service we have never used. The reason I gave 2 stars instead of one else is because we had an excellent technician come and fix a lot of our issues and was helpful in helping us make better choices if we want to upgrade. (Apparently after 4 years our equipment is obsolete.) I still love the coded locks, but that's all we use and I'm pretty sure I could have bought them at home Depot for a whole lot less. I also like the voice announcing when a door is open. That's the main reason I don't just rip out the whole system.

I really wanted to like Vivint. Multiple connectivity issues with the Internet service. After lots of patience and multiple attempts to resolve the problem I was finally informed by their technician that due to network changes they had made in the area that they wouldn't be able to service our home anymore. I don't live in a rural area. I was told that I would have to find a different provider and that when I cancelled the service they would credit us back for the couple of months of service that we were having so many issues. When I called Vivint to make arrangements they were unwilling to completely refund money they had promised. They felt it was okay to charge me for service time that their service wasn't working. Vivint has already robbed me of too much if my personal time trying to get this resolved.
Lesson learned
Do yourself a favor and choose a provide that values its customers.

Vivint has been an awesome experience. I feel totally safe with this system. Our smoke detectors have gone off several times due to construction dust and a Vivint respresentative has responded in just seconds of the alarm going off. The same has occurred when we forgot the system was on and set it off. Vivint response time is great. I love the new app because I can set and unarmed it so quickly whereas, it used to take awhile before it was unarmed . Great job, Team

Recently I had a situation where I burned a bag of popcorn in the microwave. It smoked up so much that it set off the alarm in the hall. Immediately Vivant responded. The only problem is ~ I wear a hearing aid and could not understand the operator...Henceforth, please hire only people who speak CLEARLY AND DISTINCTLY because in an emergency it is highly necessary.I finally understood the instructions and was able to answer the lady who responded. No problem...or rather problem already taken care of. I commend Vivant for their quick response and am pleased with the service.

When my contract came up for renewal, they went out of their way to keep me. Always polite and wanting to help. They have been great for us. We've been with for a while now. The young folks you have sent out are Christians and it shows. They are patient with us when we open a door and Haven't turned alarm off. The alarm goes off into my answering machine and weather machine. Which we can hear. The alarm for the bath and other places are around our necks which is great.

At first Vivint was great. I had a couple of problems that were corrected almost immediately. Now when I call support I wait and I wait for someone to answer at the other end. I have tried three times now and the last time I hung up after an hour of being on hold. I am being charged extra for two video cameras that I am finding out haven't worked for six months. Two of the four motion detectors don't work. I just hope someone breaks into the house from the front door maybe that switch is working.

Apparantly a Vivint salesman can tell your young child that people kick in home doors all the time. This has caused my son serious paralyzing fear and anxiety. Vivint took no ownership and refused to tell my son they were sorry or do anything to rectify the situation. DISGUSTING that a compant claiming to care for the FAMILY, refused to help.

Prior to Vivant, I have purchased cameras, used ADT, but the 'garbage' always found a way to bypass everything + still get in. Since Vivant...that has stopped. I am buying a second house for a business..I wouldn't consider using ANY other system. THANK YOU!

Had a technician out to my home today to fix the issues we have been having with cameras going completely offline and/or reconnecting and not showing picture afterwards. I have been given the run around multiple times saying it s a software issue and no equipment has been replaced. My front driveway camera is also cracked and not functioning correctly because of it and Vivint has not replaced that camera. I pay monthly for professional monitoring and access to the app to view my cameras and all other smart devices. I am being made to deal with the faulty equipment. After the technician left today I had my doorbell camera and driveway camera go offline again and couldn t view footage from those cameras. This happened at 12:40pm. The issue has not been resolved. My plan is supposed to include a lifetime warranty on equipment but they will absolutely always blame things on the software to not replace equipment.

My experience with Vivant has been great as it relates to the set up and service by technicians. However, the billing department and the customer service have been the absolute worse! They billed my account for more than 4 times my monthly rate, and then told me that it was a mistake. They were supposed to reimburse me the money and 3 months later I have not received a check. I was actually told by the customer service rep that since I had automatic draft, they can draft my account at any time and for any amount. I would have cancelled the service after this incident, but they have me locked into this contract.

When I have had technical difficulties with the system and called customer service, they have failed to communicate with the service technician. Therefore when the technician gets to the house, they have not been fully prepared to address the issue.

The response time and the monitoring have been great. That has been the only saving grace in this relationship.

I have had only one call for service in the last five years--the garage alarm went off on windy days. A technician from Vivant came out and easily diagnosed the problem and moved the sensor and there have been no issues since. I also asked, when Vivant called to renew our contract, if they could send new signs since the originals had faded and no longer lit up. They sent new signs immediately. Your service has been great!

You promised to keep my home and family safe; however your system seems to have problems on a monthly basis in my home. When this is brought up you, you blamed my phone provider. My phone provider came out and took a look and noticed that your technician rewired our phone system wrong in order to be connected to your security system (the phone tech did cost us money in order to fix the problem you caused). I called you once more to explain this to you and you said that the wrong system was placed in our house and that you would provide the correct system needed. This system has never been seen and a follow up by your staff has never been shown. I now ask to no longer have your services because your services were not being provided and there is a fee for services given that were never really there??? We relied on you to provide safety for our family and home; we gave you our hard earned money in order to get this . What a waste for services that was never really there! I would be ashamed if I were you guys!

Having had ADT for about 10 yrs before switching to Vivint, we have found Vivint to be far more responsive when there has been an alarm triggered. The response times are phenomenal and the system works just as advertised. The current system we have is the second one for us and if/when we buy a home again, Vivint will be one of the first installations that will be added.
