Terrible service. Had the smart drive stop working...

Terrible service. Had the smart drive stop working less that 6 months into service and instead of sending me a new one I had to send the old one in first in order for them to start any process. I didn t hear anything for weeks and it wasn t until I reached out that they told me it was going to be at least another 2 weeks before the issue was resolved if possible. I opted to have a new one just sent to me and when it arrived (with no instructions) I had to get back on the phone with technical support only to have them not have any record of the replacement but also not know what to do to link up the new smart drive. Meanwhile this whole time I haven t been able to look back on past video of someone damaging my personal property that occurred and would have been able to view had the system been working properly. Nobody took any responsibility and basically said there s nothing more they can do. I can t wait to cancel my service but I m sure they ll be a hefty fine on top of that! Do yourself a favor and avoid signing up and go with a company that actually knows what they re doing and puts their clients first!

We have been having trouble with the vivint applic...

We have been having trouble with the vivint application. We go out to the car and use the application to arm the system, but it can't find the house. The only solution is to disconnect the network extender from the phone, then it finds the house and arms the system. Your tech thought the application was at fault but I'm not so sure about that. But at his lead we removed the application and reinstalled it. So far things are working fine.

Pretty bad company guys. At least in my humble little opinion, I would recommend not signing up with Vivint. Basically our install technician decided to leave before finishing the job yesterday. He took off our old thermostats, put in the new Nest thermostats, but didn't bother hooking them up. Didn't realize that until late last night. He also left a nice mess for us to clean up. Also didn't install the 4 glass breaking monitors we paid for. On the plus side, I think all the doors sensors were completed and wired to the main panel. So I guess that's a positive?

Okay, so you can't always control all your employees and what they're going to do. Maybe he was just one bad apple. That was not the problem. This morning I called Vivint and asked for someone to come back and please finish the job. To my surprise the customer support person I talked with (who was very nice) said they could not have anyone out to our house for another 3 days. That's kind of crazy right? We don't have any heat. It's warming up as spring has begun, but there is still snow on the ground where I live and it gets really cold at night. When I explained that we don't have heat, and it was quite cold, she still kindly stated that 3 days was the soonest they could do it.

I did escalate the issue and talked to a manager of some sort. She too was very kind and professional, but she too said 3 days was their best. She then suggested if we can't wait 3 days, to call a heating and air company to come fix the issue. Then send the invoice to their claims department to get reimbursed. Really?

Am I being unreasonable? You have a technician not finish the job. As a result we're now without heat. To rectify the situation, the best they can do is send someone in 3 days? This all seems nuts to me.

Here's the funny part. I felt like this was not a good fit, so I called Vivint back about an hour ago and asked to cancel the service... They are now trying to find a technician that can come back today. Go figure! We'll see what happens and maybe I'm an isolated case, but if I knew what I know know, I would not have signed up.

I have to tell you I was very intrigued by the technology of Vivint. The number one thing I wanted out of my security system was access when we weren't home. We thought we got that but when it was installed the camera didn't work and then the panel didn't work. They fixed the problem with the cameras and eventually got the panel working correctly. Through all of this they kept calling me telling me I owed $200. Each time I spoke with at least two different people and they kept telling me I was right and it would be credited to my account. Eventually I began calling each time I got my bill and would talk to several different people before hearing something different but with the same conclusion. This past month I called again and got a different person tgat of course had to transfer me to a different person so I could explain my story for the 10th time. This time the person from Vivint did go the extra mile to listen to their recorded conversation about the original agreement but didn't go and listen to the 3 other calls where they told me the account would be credited. So I will pay the $200 since in this case I feel like there isn't much more I can do. Along with all of this really poor customer service they have really poor antiquated cameras that work half the time. The thermostat they offer wasn't compatible with my house. No real explanation as of why. So I went out and bought Nest thermostat and cameras and love them. In closing they have a good start but execution and customer service isn't there strong suit.

My monitor quit working and an rep came by and worked on it for a short time and repaired it quickly. He was very friendly and identified himself when he arrived and was in and out in a short period. The monitor is working fine now.

This company was advertised at Sam's Club in Lake Nona, FL as a great company, no contract. This is COMPLETELY MISLEADING. They force you to accept a 60 months contract, and "get a loan with a bank"to pay for the equipment. I've had significant problems with several pieces of the equipment since installation a year ago, when calling it takes very long time to get someone to answer and then they hang up without finishing the call. I had several false alarms because the alarm goes off for no reason. Last week during an alarm I had to return home as soon as I got the call from the monitoring service. I called back to cancel the alarm and took 9 minutes for a human being to answer. Requested to cancel the call to the police, the monitoring center never cancel. The police was home when I arrived. If you value your time and money DON'T get in business with Vivint

Technical support people have no idea what they re...

Technical support people have no idea what they re talking about. All they know is reboot the panel and unplug it and plug it back in . They don t stand behind their equipment. When something randomly stops working, you re expected to pay the fee to have someone come fix it.

Edit: Had to pay for a technician to come out and just to update my panel because it wasn t connecting to WiFi. Apparently an update went out in my city, but my panel didn t pick it up for some reason.

Frauds. A guy came by our house at 730 one night and told us we could get a 2 week free trial, to try it out and see if we liked it. So we did, and 4 days before the 2 week period was up I started to try canceling the service be ause we never used it. First, our rep (NATHAN) would not answer his phone, in fact he had my number blocked! After sitting on hold forever, I talked to multiple people. They told me that there was no proof that we got a 2 week free trial, and that it was only a 3 day trial, so sorry but you are now locked into the 5 year contract. Nathan went back on his word saying that it was only a 3 day trial too. Nathan is just your typical salesman, super nice in person, but no help, and screws you over asap. Frauds! Oh and one of the sensors has not worked from the beginning, and they wont fix it. DO NOT GET VIVINT!

Probably the worst experience I have ever had with a company. Lazy technicians that put staples through a membrane roof and leave the wiring in complete disarray. The story goes on and on but just save yourself the frustration and get security services elsewhere.

Would be zero stars if I could. Do not waste your money with this company. I have been promised things that I never received. Equipment would never work, but yet I couldn't get my contract changed because it was past the 48 hour trial period. For 4 years the equipment didn't work right. Then before the contract was up I moved....I would be hit with relocation fees unless I signed another 2 year contract with them. Then I finally get to the point where I can cancel my service, send in the written cancellation notice more than a month ahead of time, they require 30 day notice, and guess what, they still drafted my account for another month of service. There are a lot of security companies, do your research. Beware of Vivint.

If I don't get a good night's sleep it's not because I'm concerned about our security. Vivint has been a great asset to our home and this is especially the case since my wife's mother is now living with us. Since she is totally deaf we are always concerned when we leave her but with Vivint's med alert necklace and our security cameras we now feel much more comfortable leaving her for a longer period of time. This past week we were able to spend three days out of town with our daughter and during that time we were in constant video and closed caption contact with wife's mom. That's security and peace at it's best. Thanks Vivint.

Oh yeah, they've got some great technicians when you need installation work.

I just tried to schedule an appointment with a Vivint consultant. Vivint requires a credit review prior to having a consultant visit. I explained my credit was excellent and that other companies I've spoken to don't share this business strategy. Vivint would not accommodate my request without having a credit review. Buyer beware when a company's approach to your money is that aggressive!!! Needless to say, I'll be meeting with their competitors to make my solar decision.

I've been with them three and a half years and have gone through 4 control panels. And they always want to charge for the service technician to come out and replace the crappy equipment! Or they try selling you another product while they're here, saying we'll install it and not charge you for the service call. And as much as I don't care for that crap, my house is monitored AND I do get a discount on my homeowner's insurance for having a security system!

I can always count on Vivint when my alarm goes of...

I can always count on Vivint when my alarm goes off to contact me immediately to verify an alarm in progress and to send help if its a real alarm. That gives my wife and I peace of mind and allows us to sleep easily at night. That's a big deal for me as I don't wear my hearing aids when I sleep, so I am thankful I have a very reliable security company watching over me.

Terrible Security Company, system has been installed 18 months. The sales people are not the most honest, you need to be careful, ask for backup on anything they tell you in a email. From the very beginning we never we picked the wrong company, charged for equipment we were told was included, service contract in all our correspondence was to be for 36 month, now they just tried to tell us it is 42. We installed the security system in a property that is up for sell and no one is living there any longer. All of the siblings live 500 plus miles away, so we thought it would be a good idea to have something to watch over thief, fire and the water pipes in the winter, the house is in PA, so this is a common problem. FUNNY THING IS, today we found out the house has been OFFLINE for at least 5 months or more!!! So much for a security company making sure your service isn't interrupted for any reason... no phone call, nothing from the company. SO EXACTLY WHAT HAVE THEY BEEN MONITORING FOR THE PAST 5 MONTHS AT THIS ADDRESS!
Go somewhere else.... I didn't my homework deciding on a company, and we made the wrong choice....

Have had my service with VIVINT since October. Bases past experience with a different carrier, these guys are an A++. I even called today to get my bill lowered as i was not using one of the services and they worked with me without issue. Cannot get the internet as there are issues, but hey, They were up front with me from the beginning that they could not help me with that yet!!. I appreciate their honesty.

Personally, the company is the best in my opinion. To customers, the company provides dozens of different objects of interest including solar panels, home security and electrical enhancement. All of this can be used from your phone even when you are half way around the world. The solar panels cut cost, and the outlets in your home can be controlled to not waste energy. Call providers and security pick up after only 9 seconds, and are competent. For all the people who don't like the system, they either don't understand how to use it, or have had a personally bad experience with it. Its unfortunate, but they can't deny what the company does.
The company is for saving lives, and helping those who want to live more intelligently.

I called to get help with resetting the time on the thermostat and the key panel. After being on the phone about 25 minutes I was some how disconnected. As of today the time is still not correct. It should have been corrected by the service tech when he came to replace some parts a few weeks ago.

I scheduled a install with this company and it was a disaster. I recieved a confirmation email for the time and date right away. I paid for the install and equipment up front. The date of the install they made a call in the morning making sure someone over 18 would be there during the scheduled time, which was 10-12. At 1:00 I called to find out what was going on. I was told after a returned call that my time slot was 12-2, even though I have a email stating 10-2. Still no one showed by 3. I called and canceled. Why would I do business with a company, especially a alarm/security company, that does not show up when needed and lies about the situation at hand. They called later stating they didn't see a cancellation. I have yet to receive a email confirming my cancellation that was promised to be sent right away, or my money. I would warn others from doing business with a company with such low concern for the customer and low morals.

Anytime I've Needed them, they were right there.
I just like they are fantastic!!!
I have a peace with Vivint.
I absolutely love the fact that I can turn my alarm on and off away from home with my cell phone!

Absolutely abysmal customer service from start to finish. We were deceived by the salesman concerning the duration of the contract. We were told we were locking in the price for five years, but only three years were required for the contract to ensure all equipment was paid for. Of course, this was patently untrue. We COULD have signed a three year contract at the beginning and would have been able to have our price adjusted, etc after that amount of time, but instead were duped into a five year contract. Shame on me for believing the jovial, smiling liar, I suppose.

I have finally made it through my contract and called to cancel my service. I was on hold for 35 minutes only to have the customer DISservice rep hang up on me after I stated I wished to cancel. I immediately called back and sat through another 35 minute wait time. This time, the rep informed me I must email the company my request for cancellation. Flabbergasted, I said, You mean to tell me you don t have the authority to cancel an account?! She said that because of legal reasons the request needs to be reviewed by their team. Also, this review will take 30 days during which they will continue to bill me! Unbelievable! What kind of legal reasons can this company have beyond ensuring they squeeze every last possible dime out of their unsuspecting customers?! When I have cancelled other services (phone, internet, gas, electric, etc, etc), I have never had to remain on the hook for an extra MONTH while the company takes their sweet time evaluating my cancellation request.

I am so done with this dishonest company. Run away from their sales reps as far and as fast as you can!

We know that we are fully protected with Vivint Smart Home security system in place. One of my sons open the door without checking firs and the alarm went off and immediately an operator came on the line asking if everything was alright. I love, love this system.

EXPLODING PANEL! Vivint panel started heating up. I could hear weird noises and feel the wall getting warm. When I called, they said it was probably something in my house and they could send a tech to check it out but it would cost me a $49 service charge. I agreed to pay it and they said they couldn't get me a tech till the next week. 3 days later, the panel burst into flames and would have burnt my house down if I didn't use my fire extinguisher. It was the battery inside the panel that started swelling and eventually caused a fire. They referred me to Home Damage who offered me a $500 settlement and wanted me to sign a Release Form promising not to sue them or talk about what happened ever again. I had a contractor quote the job at over $1200 but Vivint only offered me $500 and a new panel. When I threatened to report them to the Attorney General and the BBB, the rep in Home Damage laughed and said "Have fun with that." Unbelievable.

Buyer beware. If you want customer service you will not get it here. Chat takes 10 minutes before someone responds. And then they pass you onto the Customer Loyalty Team which then takes another 20 minutes to respond. Don't try calling. You will be on hold from 30-40 minutes. I moved from one state to another and did not transfer service because I do not have a permanent residence. They offered a buyout amount only to take it away. Bait and switch? I have filed a complaint with the State Attorney General.

Total ripoff. They get 1 star because I can't give less. Their equipment fails constantly and they don't want to fix it. I paid for my equipment and wanted to cancel the monitoring service after paying them more than $50/mo for 3 years. Nope... they don't tell you that you're signing up to pay them for a minimum of 60 months worth of monitoring services. They did not loan me money for the equipment, they did not resolve numerous equipment issues and still stick it to you on their 60 month monitoring agreements. So... unless you are 100% certain that you will not have any job slow downs or other issues and you want to for sure be beholden to Vivint for a minimum of 60 months... do not purchase from Vivint. Far too many other better options. Never again, never Vivint.

I have had so many problems with my service. I expected to have good service but there have been too many problems. Camera fell off the panel, it's always saying my battery is low even when they have come out to change it themselves. I was on the phone with a representative she had me open the panel, something happened to cause the alarm to go off instead of her deactivating the alarm I couldn't because she had sent a signal where I could not turn the alarm off. The police came out and I was billed for a false alarm. Just too many problems.

From the sales person to the response to inadvertent alarms we have had a wonderful experience. We registered with the Police Dept. so our one police response was very fast at no cost though it does cost $100 every year to be registered.

This last Winter we had burglars in our home, and the alarm system for the windows went off. The police came and thankfully our family was alarmed when the system went off. Although we had to deal with a broken window i'm very thankful that they went off timely and perfectly! The two men are in the state prison, and I have Vivint to thank for keeping my family safe!! I don't normally do these reviews, but in this case it was very necessary. You never think you need these types of alarm systems until it happens too late. Keep up the amazing company & keeping families like mine safe!

We are extremely glad we made the switch from a monitoring service to an active live service. We have had a few mistakes on our part, never been an issue, spoke with a live person who made us verify everything before turning the alarm off, had it been a real breakin the police would have been instantly dispatched...with out having to attempt to call us on the cell before calling the police. We opted for the optional cameras, love it we can check on the activity of our house sitter when we are away via our computer. Highly recommend.

I sadly worked for this company for 2 months before I realized everything I was selling was overpriced, sketchy, ineffective, and a LIE. The reps are taught to sell by deceiving & pressuring the customer into an expensive 5 year contract with POS equipment that will NOT protect your home & family. ( I saw reps lie about the product to customers and brag about it afterwards...) I didn t have a single customer that was happy with their security system, every single person had issues with both the system AND Vivint s awful customer service... One of my customers was charged an extra 600 dollars on her credit card for NO reason and vivint never refunded her the money no matter how many times I called and tried to solve the issue, & they would not let her out of the five year contract.. I feel ashamed to have worked for a such a crooked, greedy company with NO MORALS... if you want security, ADT is a better option. Stay away from vivint.... both vivint solar and vivint security are terrible companies!!!

- if you re looking to work for vivint, they don t have any problem lying to you either. My manager ASAEL LOPEZ treated me with the utmost disrespect when I respectfully told them I couldn t work for vivint anymore because I don t believe in the product... they kicked me out of an apartment I WAS PAYING FOR (stealing over $1,000 of rent money out of my pocket)... I tried to resolve the issue with vivint customer service, but with a big middle finger in my face they sent me on my way... very toxic work environment, if you have ANY sense of morality you will be shunned and disrespected.

As a relatively long term customer, I've experienced very good service from VIVINT, as well s when it was formerly known as APEX. Customer service has always been willing and capable of assisting me and the monitoring has always been responsive and immediate. I only wish that their product lines were not so limited in expansion, especially in camera applications.

We thought the system was easy to operate and gave us a sense of security... Until we were away from home and our back door was broken in by day thieves! The alarm went off..we were notified as were the police. After a thorough search of the house the police secured the house and I reset the alarm from my phone app! Now we definitely feel secure!

On 4/19 I called to see what the price would be for an add-on outdoor wifi camera to my Sky system. I currently have an outdoor 110v outlet so no special wiring is needed to be done by the technician. Just plug it in and connect it to the Sky system and you're done. I was quoted $440.00!!
The camera cost $199 according to the customer service rep and the rest is for the technician to do the wiring. I explained several times than an outlet was in place already but he wouldn't budge off the $440

Some horrible asshat showed up at my house today, 5/18/2018 in Aurora CO (SouthShore neighborhood) I think his name was Justin, selling Vivint. I told him I wasnt interested and he began to pester and tell me I don't care about my family or their security. I ended up slamming the door on him. Other neighbors complained as well. This is at 7pm which is unacceptable. What a garbage approach from what appears to be a dogshit company. Hope this kid gets harmed physically at some point this weekend. If anyone at Vivint cares, I would be more than happy to shed some more light on this incident.

We had set alarm and locked the house and went to town. We didn't get 5 miles and they called us. We have a large dog we left inside, he set the alarm off. So instead of us going back to the house and resetting the alarm they set it for us in the staying mode. How awesome is that?....

Generally speaking I am pleased with Vivint. However, to accurately review them you need to separate Vivint into 2 parts. The representatives that handle emergencies and the technicians that handle malfunctions. First, when your alarm goes off, you can count on being called immediately by someone that cares. Before Vivint, I had another company and could have baked a cake while waiting to be contacted when my alarm went off. It's a different story with Vivint. They call immediately and it's comforting to feel protected.
Technical support is a different story. It's a crapshoot when you call. I have gotten some of the best technicians around. I also have gotten a person that was yawning while we talked. I felt like apologizing for waking them up. There is a generalized lack of communication between the different departments. Vivint has organized their technical support into different departments in order to have very knowledgeable people handle the different pieces of equipment. The problem is one department doesn't know what the other departments are doing. I had the camera department tell me they are sending me a door camera. Do to a problem, that appointment never happened. When I called to reschedule, the head of scheduling said that it was impossible and wouldn't reschedule the appointment. Eventually, things got straighten out, but not before more things got screwed up.
In summation, for protection, I would give them 10 out of ten. For technical support, it depends on the day. A popular movie misquote comes to mind, "Do you feel lucky, Punk?"

I have not had an emergence but have had a few false alarms, mainly with y Medical Alert which I have inadvertently activated. Immediately when this is activated, I get a call from Vivint asking about my safety or needs. This gives me much peace of mind,

DO NOT USE VIVINT. An absolute nightmare to deal with. I had the internet installed 6 days ago. It says I have a signal, but I cannot actually connect to the internet. Another tech came out and said it was an issue with the hub home and they would send someone out Monday or Tuesday at the latest. I call Monday and Vivint has no idea what is going on and cannot tell me anything about the problem or when/if a tech would be sent to the hub home. Then I have someone call me and tell me Thursday it would be fixed. I called today (Thursday) and they again have NO IDEA when a tech will be sent. They told me they would put me on a callback list which was extremely full and they may or may not call me back! I couldn't have dreamed of a worse company to do business with. Absolutely horrible. They want $60 of your hard earned money each month for this crap service. It's amazing.

I've never had a security system before Vivent, so I don't have any other experience to compare, but I am satisfied with the service we've received so far. I've had Vivent for 8 months with no problems. I did forget to disarm when coming home one evening & received a call from Vivent. The representative was kind and professional. We have the system with two indoor cameras and the doorbell camera. I love the doorbell camera. Being able to speak with someone who is at my house ringing the doorbell is great. We can see when packages are delivered. If we're in our backyard, we can look on our phone and see who just came to our front door (and make the decision if we want to answer it or not). :)
