This business has the WORST customer service I hav...

This business has the WORST customer service I have ever encountered. Every time I attempt to contact them, I am on hold for a minimum of 30 minutes, usually closer to an hour. Yet, if my payment is even ONE day late they call me, literally, 4 times per day, EVEN WHEN I have already made the payment. Today, after the 3rd call, I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was refused. Instead the agent put me on hold for 5 minutes and returned to say that he would "pass the note on" that my payment had already been made. Absolutely ridiculous business practices!

Uheaa has been much more helpful and understanding...

Uheaa has been much more helpful and understanding than any other student loan servicer that I have worked with (out of 4 in total). When I have needed a deferment, they were always very good about voluntarily back dating the application, so it would not harm my credit. The Customer service Reps, for me anyway, have always been very polite. Of course, I also make an extra effort to acknowledge the help I receive from over the phone reps, and the Uheaa reps I have worked with always respond kindly. I suspect that the reason there are only terrible reviews for Uheaa on Google, is that only the really angry people bother to comment, and the rest of us take just take their service for granted.

I am so sorry for anyone that is still having to put up with such lack of communication inside & outside of this place!!!

You are able to fill out paperwork online to get all your loans consolidated for free, and the paperwork isn't hard at all. I did not pay some other company to do it for me, there are links in the government websites, so it is also free!

UHEA CONSTANTLY, EVERY TIME I TALKED TO THEM MAKE THINGS WORSE BECAUSE LACK OF FOLLOW THROUGH! At 1 point they were doing auto draft from my personal account & taking half my paycheck. This happened for 3 pay periods, a month & a half. I spoke with someone there EVERY week asking why they were not sending doc's to my employer to stop the garnishment that NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED, every time they told me they sent it & would send it again. My employer told me every day that they didn't get it, I literally went into their office every day.

The only way that I was finally able to get the paperwork to my employer was by getting so PISSED OFF I didn't call I drove up there & told them I wanted to talk to my account manager. They were not able to tell me who that was but would have someone come down to talk to me. I was sent to a little tiny room, waited for 10-15 min for a phone to ring not a person to come down, but I can understand why, it has to be scary screwing people over so badly!

I demanded the doc's in a sealed envelope so I could play mail man, as my HR said to do, after half hour & 3 calls from 3 people who didn't know what they could & couldn't do, I explained that the records I was requesting were mine and I have the right to get them & share my info with anyone I wanted and that I wouldn't be going to this extreme if they were not double dipping & AGAINST THE LAW! And that they were able to get info for the garnishment doc's to my work while I was waiting for them to finish setting up the auto draft so they have the right address and 1 of the letters stopping the garnishment that supposedly were sent out every week for a month & a half would have been delivered if any were actually sent out.

Then I had to fight them to remove the negative marks on my credit expecially because they were double dipping. They had 9 open accounts on 1 reporting agency with negative marks & 1 with 18 (reporting every account twice with negative impacts), and the other did not have any.

I also had to fight with them to give my loans to the consolidation company. It took some work but VERY WORTH EVERY MOMENT! My credit score went up almost 50 points as soon as their accounts were closed, & the amount I owed went down by $1000. some how.

I've had no problem reaching UHEAA. I generally prefer email, but if I need to talk to someone I just pick a non-peak time to call (just like any service provider). Never call beginning of day or end of day, avoid the lunch hour, and NEVER call on a Monday. That's when everyone calls. I also have a sub-one percent interest rate with them on a federal loan - unheard of! Thank you, UHEAA!

0 stars from me. UHEAA has terrible customer service. Been hung up on 3 times. One kid acted frustrated when I called back (after being put on hold 15 minutes where he then hung up on me and it was now 4:45) close to the time he was supposed to be going home. Kept saying "I don't know " to my questions and says "I would ask a supervisor but I'm supposed to be getting off soon". Well excuse me for asking you to do your job where you get paid! Since when are customers put last at a CUSTOMER SERVICE job?? Can't find answers to questions anywhere and can't find anyone competent or knowledgeable to talk to. Every person who has tried answering my questions has given me a different answer, then sounded offended when I asked if they had a manager or someone I could talk to (no one ever sent me to talk to someone higher up who might know what they're talking about). I am seriously so frustrated that I am at a dead end and have no idea where to find my answers. If I had known it would be this way, I would have never accepted my loan/scholarship thing that I am now trying to work through with them. Came back to bite me in the butt.

My loan got sold to this company. I signed up for auto pay. I was autoenrolled in paperless billing. Now I have no access to any statements. I can not get to them online. When I call about the issue, they say since I have direct debit, I will not get any statements. They don't have any statement they can send me. I have been dissatisfied with their service from the time my loans were switched.

I now have a bad credit report from UHEAA even though I tried in earnest to pay my bill before it was reported. I tried to use the automated system at least 4 times to pay. It wouldn't register any number I input. I tried online. I couldn't get in. I waited on hold over an hour one day and many other days for 30-40mins+ without getting through to anyone. I finally got through today. The UHEAA rep told me that they can't reverse the bad report because they could get fined. WHAT?!! Correcting their bad report because their systems of payment are messed up so I couldn't pay my bill should be their concern not a possible fine. I was told that I should have paid with snail mail or bill pay through my bank ie that I can't rely on their systems of payment and I was talked to and treated badly. If their systems of paying aren't working, reports should never be sent and they should notify customers so we have time to use old snail mail methods.

They've designed every aspect of their experience, from the phone service to the god-awful website, to make it as difficult and frustrating as possible to simply pay your bill.
I setup automatic bill pay (which required me to mail in a form... Why the hell can't I do that over the phone or through the website?!) and it worked fine for 2 months. Then, without warning, they simply stopped charging my monthly payments.
God forbid you forget your security questions. You get 3 tries before you're locked out of your account. After that, you need to call them to get back into your account, and that means you're going to spend a full hour on hold.
But at least they're proactive about apologizing to people here, right? NO! Stop insulting us with empty apologies and fix the damn problems.
If I had known what this experience would be like, I probably would have skipped college before getting a loan through UHEAA.

Many negative reviews here so I want to share feedback for my experience today...Ana answered and was so polite, helpful and quick to get me directed where I could be helped further. Then the receptionist was just a polite and got me right over to HR. The lady in HR was just as friendly and quick to answer all my questions. I don't have a loan through this company but each employee today was a 5 star employee.

This is ridiculous! I cannot get through no matter what time of day I call! When I did finally reach someone, I requested the last possible payment date of the 28th of each month. Got everything all set up over the phone. Then I get my letter and the due date is the 22nd of the month!! This does not help me at all! I need the last payment date of the month and now I cannot get back through to anyone to fix this error! What a joke!

UHEAA continues to call multiple times per week and leave harassing voicemails despite my being in academic deferment. They are the worst loan agency I've ever dealt with, by far. On top of it all, their website is a UI disaster.

Had my loan with them, was told by my school I must start making payment within 6 months of graduating. 2 months after grad they were reporting delinquent to credit. I called them and we got it straitened out and they said if I started paying now they would remove the late payment reports, so I made a payment. They never removed it. I tried to clear it up later and they said the wont remove it even though they had promised. Just lied, and didn't care that they lied. Transfer your loan somewhere else ASAP!!

There was no miscommunication, you telling the customer one thing and doing another is lying, not miscommunication. If it was miscommunication I could understand but you would need to fix the damage that your miscommunication caused, otherwise you just lied to a customer in order to convince them to send you a payment.

We all know that American student loans are a scam, and this is one of the many companies capitalizing on that scam to profit off of high-interest student loans. It seems like no one ever applied to UHEAA directly, but we're all stuck with them because our old servicers sold our student loans on to them. Their web site is a mess, their contact system is a joke, and they cut their costs to the bone by farming all customer service out to call centers abroad where the customer service agents are reading from scripts. Unlike every other loan servicer out there, this bottom-feeding outfit requires you to renew forbearance requests every three months. The only good thing I have to say about them is that I'll soon be free of them when I pay this loan off.

Why in the world do you not give people the option to sign up for auto pay online. Fax or send a letter, just in man hours alone in a month required to process paper applications could pay a web developer for a year. On a side note my loans were sold to you and who gave you permission to change my loan terms???? Why did my minimum monthly payment that i had been paying for 12 years go down by 40%, is it so you can draw the loan term out another 10 years and make more money off me?

Miserable experience with my student loans since they were suddenly sold to UHEAA. Never had problems in 10 years and now I can't sort out even a simple IBR request on time. Customer service is ridiculous...at least 20 minute wait EVERY time. Once they answer the phone they are very nice and helpful, and seem to have enough options to help people with their issues. But overall, not yet impressed, and they will eventually affect someone's credit with their lack of sufficient number of workers.

I have had bad experiences for years with UHEAA. I couldn't possibly list all the frustrations here, but some include repeatedly calling my parents' phone number instead of mine, sending monthly wasteful paper bills when I opted into the paperless reminders, forever long hold times, and a terrible website with minimal information and no monthly statement format: just the payment or details pages. Now the mobile site is disfunctional. Try clicking "contact us" and you're redirected to a new window of the SAME home page you came from. A subtle hint not to call, perhaps?

I had a payment mailed in on the second of this month to pay off a few of the loans, and three weeks later it still hasn't been posted to my account. There was no option to wire the money electronically. By the way, you can't specify which loan to pay off via check, either. It will be applied to all loans equally and I have to call in afterwards to have the money reattributed to the ones I choose. I used the website email form to inquire about this payment by check process and received an answer WEEKS LATER in which they thanked me for my email and said it looks like my questions were answered over the phone. Indeed they were: I had to call and wait on hold because my email wasn't answered!

I am not sure why the rating for this institution is so low. I have never had a problem one with them. They are easy to contact, and very forgiving and professional. I think it may be the fact that some of these whiny kids might have to do a little work to make their payment go away or get reduced, could be hindering on their bong hit rituals lol...Anyway, just joking on the bong hit, it's not bad for you, but the booze is haha. Still trying to figure out why a federal loan servicer is consistently LESS COMPETENT than the federal freaking government. Can't do a single useful thing to manage your loan online. But oh, they say, we accept faxes--great. Because so many people in the age bracket you're dealing with (or ANYONE, for that matter) has convenient access to a fax machine.

I keep my interactions with them as minimal as possible because every single one of them makes my blood boil. Add to that that their website is clunky and absurdly complicated to access and it's just a headache and a half. You would think that in an area of SLC as developer-heavy as they are, they could at least afford a decent front-end designer to make things even slightly more user-friendly. I keep hoping my loan will get sold again, which is how I ended up dealing with these guys in the first place.

I just started a Masters program and am in need of my automated payments to stop billing my checking account. I first contact UHEAA at the beginning of August to request that the payments stop billing for the month of September for my school deferment. After attempting to contact them 3x per week and e-mailing them with no response, I removed my automatic billing information from online, hoping that would be enough to stop the payments. However, I was billed in the month of September, once I was nearly a month into the school year. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of service that UHEAA has provided and would like a response as soon as possible. I want a refund for the payment that should not have been billed and I want official correspondence acknowledging my school deferral and guaranteeing that I will not be billed without my permission again.

I have called UHEAA at least 3x per week for the last 60 days, each call with at least 20 minute wait times. I work regular business hours, so that 20 minutes is the greatest amount of time that I can wait. Before the company reviewer responds that I should e-mail, I HAVE ALSO E-MAILED UHEAA 3 times requesting that they contact me at my e-mail address or phone number and I have not received a response, and it has been way over two business days. Please search your system for my e-mail address and you will find my e-mails with my contact information. EVEN AT THIS TIME, I HAVE BEEN WAITING ON HOLD FOR 35 MINUTES FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS WEEK.

Wow, it looks like I'm not the only one who has had a customer service issue with UHEAA. My loan was taken over by them in April. Everything was great the first time I called, and I was directed to the "new UHEAA selection", so I was through and speaking with someone in less than five minutes. Fast forward to September when I was calling in regards to a letter I received from them, I was not able to get through at ALL for two weeks. I called a total of four times, each time on hold for 45+ minutes. The last time I called, I was on hold for 55 minutes before someone picked up and asked to put me on HOLD again. I'm sorry, but a company cannot blame their customer service shortcomings on "high call volumes" because I tried calling at all different times of day. Hire more customer service reps if you're shorthanded. No customer should have to wait more than 10-15 minutes TOPS to speak with a live person. I can't wait for these loans to be picked up by another company so I don't have to deal with UHEAA!

I have spoken with or otherwise emailed the staff many many times over the years for a number of reasons: from payment processing to account history to managing financial difficulty. Always polite. Always timely. Always communicative. Always helpful. Their website works well too. Nothing but positive things to say about these people.

Loved the company that had my loans before. Once UHEAA bought them back they "recalculated" my payment length/teams and stole my bank info from Nelnet and auto withdrew 3 times what I was expecting to pay. I called them and they can reverse it but instead of doing an electronic transfer back to my account they have to process something for 6 weeks and then they will mail a check out to me. While I'm waiting and after I specifically asked them to stop the next month's payment, they billed me again for 3 times the amount.

UHEAA website is terrible. It is hard to find the minimum payment owed each month. Email response is dreadfully slow. Also it takes WAY too long to process an online payment. Why can't student loan providers have a website setup similar to credit card companies? Credit card companies do a better job presenting information regarding outstanding balances and payments are processed same day. Also the customer service is a lot more responsive.

To no fault of my own. My account was updated incorrectly. Called them to bring this to their attention. Unreachable via telephone. It took 6 months to update my account to good standings. There is STILL damage to the account from their mistake. I would like to give them more stars but they have made BIG mistakes that effect me for 7-10 years of my life. Very unfair

Worst company I have ever worked with. They don't process information you send, report credit falsely, and have the slowest, most archaic technology ever. It takes a very long time if you are trying to get even the simplest information (like documentation showing that your loan is paid in full), and even with something like that, you have to speak to multiple people if you want help. It seems like they want to be horrible to work with as incentive to get people to pay off their loans and never have to deal with them again. Years ago, they seemed a lot better to work with, and I don't know if the management changed, but the people working in this office seem very unhappy due to the point of unproductively.

Until very recently, I've had no problems with UHEAA. Presently, no one can provide me information on my account - they continue to say "I don't know how that happened"...I don't even have a current statement. They refuse to have any written correspondence though initially promised an email confirming action only to be later told that it would violate company policy. I've been through the ringer for 3 months just to get my accounts shown as paid in full. Instead they keep shifting payments between accounts so I end up with odd overpayments. And, because there in an overpayment, the account can't be reflected as paid in full while my outstanding account (where the payment should have been applied) accrues interest. I've made 3 requests now to have this corrected and each time it takes 14 days. Absolute nightmare when all I wanted was to pay back the money I borrowed... Something I thought they'd want! Now that things have gone all screwy I feel they owe any borrower an explanation, yet none can be provided. Word of Caution: TAKE SCREENSHOTS AND PRINT ALL YOUR CONFIRMATIONS! I am fortunate I did because they are now saying their system "doesn't match" my record.
Also, It seems everything has to be done in an Accounting Division that no one can call and won't provide any correspondence on the actions. The lack of visibility and accountability for an agency that can influence credit scores is just shocking.

Working at this place is miserable. Typical toxic office environment. Lots of gossip and cliquey attitudes. The work is very boring and repetitive. Additionally, I feel like you are not even regarded unless you are a favorite/friend of managers or supervisors, especially if you are a new employee. They will pass right over you as if you don t matter. Based on what I ve seen while working here, I m so grateful that my student loans aren t serviced through this company. Time to move on.

Worst customer service ever! I never had any problems with Nelnet. Can I go back to them? Always on hold. Get different answers depending on who I talk to. Can't pay my bill, but they have no other options for me. It's like they want you to default on your loan. I just get the run around on everything I do with them. A little compassion and sympathy would be nice! I've cut everything I can and I still can't afford what they want for a minimum payment. I have sent in forbearance requests and get no response. What do I do now? I am so frustrated and disgusted! HELP!

My wife has tried to work with UHEAA for years now on income based repayment procedures and every time she needs to put in paperwork they seem to lose it. No communication with her. Every time she hah to get in contact with them she has panic attacks because if how many useless hours she hha to spend on the phone talking to incompetent people who never seen to follow through with their job. Also, what is their damn fax number? Good luck finding it

So, so, so, so bad. Though I have 4 other servicers who process an annual reapplication for IBR (with zero problems), UHEAA didn't process correctly and it took me A YEAR, yes, A YEAR, of literally HOURS of phone calls, including talking to 2 managers, and finally the ombudsman, to get things straight. Since my husband works from home he witnessed most of these calls and once offered to pour me a glass of wine at NOON since I was on hold for 40 minutes before calmly stating my case to another inept customer service person who couldn't help me...again. And all of this - every step, every call, every fax - was documented (by me). It was a hairpullingoutofyourhead experience. A black hole of ineptitude and despair. I know this sounds like a bit much, but it's true. This is the worst loan servicer in the history of time. Okay, fine, in the history of my time.

If I could give them a ZERO star rating I would...UHEAA is lacking in their customer service department or staffing, possibly both. I've tried contacting an actual person over the phone about ten times this week and have waited 45 minutes or longer with no person ever picking up the line to address my needs. If they are experiencing "higher than normal call volume" that tells me they do not have enough employees working to service their customers. I've tried at multiple different hours in the day, from 8:00 a.m when they first open to the afternoon and every time of the day you will get the same message. It starts to feel like they would rather re-route you over and over to more annoying hold music in hopes that you will just hang up. This is terrible customer service and someone should have been available to answer my call in the 5+ hours now I've spent in my work week trying to get a hold of someone.

You might imagine the anxiety a person feels when trying to access an unreliable site to pay back their loans, the very loans that affect their credit scores.

I've been dealing with these people for the last few months. They're nice when I talk to them, but they don't seem like they know what they're talking about. I keep receiving letters that I owe money, but I definitely don't. It takes sooo long to actually talk to someone about this. I eventually started emailing, but there hasn't been a response. Update 9/26: UHEAA reached out to me and solved my account issues and Michelle was very helpful and professional. I appreciate that they made things right. This wasn't the first or even second customer service issue with UHEAA and there still needs to be more responsive customer service reps and more account support online but I was happy with this outcome.

My loan was sold to UHEAA from ACS. I noticed some accounting data re my account on line that has led me to question the interest rate I am actually paying. It appears it may be as much as 29%. That is greatly in excess of the amount I agreed to pay when I originally made these college loans. I have never been late with a payment and it appears that I have never given UHEAA any reason to escalate my interest. I called numerous times and never was successful in reaching a human being. I wrote an email to UHEAA on their "contact us" site requesting the interest rate I am supposed to pay. I have not received an answer. This makes me suspicious.
I want a living human being capable of giving accurate answers to me to speak with me. My next step may be to compel UHEAA to provide answers to me through the Court System. I find the standard UHEAA apology to be specious. Call me. Edward R. Hanson, Jr.

I paid the "balance due" online thinking my 2 student loans were paid off. 3 months later UHEAA reported me for delinquent on my 2 loans for $3. They never contacted me one time before they reporting to the credit bureaus for 3 bucks. When I called them to ask where the $3 balance came from they told they were "fees unpaid" and that I should file a dispute with the credit bureaus.

Worst experience EVER!!! I've tried writing UHEAA TWICE and calling them. I even tried emailing them. It's been a week and a half and no response back about my student loan debt. Why is it so hard to get a simple response back? If I could give them zero stars I would. Do your self a favor and try your best to stay far, far away from this incompetent company. They don't listen to the students, their communication SUCKS and there NOT here to help you.They just want to report to the credit bureau that you're late with payments!

I had my bachelor's degree loans with UHEAA. With their AMAZING benefits I was able pay off a 10 yr loan in about 7.5 years! I now have a graduate student loan with them and have had no problems. I pay on time so they don't call me and I don't need to call them. They still have great benefits and reduced the interest rate loan. Must be difficult to be a good company offering a product most people HATE! I hate my student loan, but it's not UHEAA's fault I borrowed it! Cheers!

Buyer Beware. This is a very dishonest company that will trash your credit with errors. I've been trying to get them to correct errors they send to credit bureaus for over a year and a half. UHEAA does not care about their customers. Go literally anywhere else for a provider. They have 17 blights reported as one creditor on my report. They have been completely compensated but continue to destroy the lives of customers. Sick company with employees who don't know how to do their job.

UHEAA responds to this review like is a mistake but time shows what a garbage company they are. It's not challenging to relay correct information to bureaus. I've called and emailed repeatedly almost two years but absolutely nothing has been done.

If you receive a loan from them for 1/2 tuition in exchange for teaching in utah. Don't forget to report to them once you have completed the teaching period per the loan terms. They will happily let you forget and then come in hot as a "creditor" to make a mess of your life!

If you did forget to tell them, HOLD YOUR GROUND. The moment you finished your debt repayment teaching time the loan should have been marked paid in full per the terms. There is nothing in the agreement that says you have to tell them, it only says you have to teach for the agreed upon time. CHECK that happened years ago!

They will try to make you feel like your only options are to declare financial hardship, or pay in cash. This is garbage! Push through like we did. It took many many calls but in the end they agreed it was their mistake. After we proved completion teaching they backdated the "Credit for Teaching"

Don't let Uheaa push you around. Read your terms and stick to them. Call them out on their mistakes and DO NOT cave. Push through to the manager's manager.

After you get them to come to the table and stop playing slimy games you will have to be very persistent and follow up.

My situation is a little similar to another I have read. My loan was sold while in still in deferment and was sent a notice that a bill was going to be due. I decided to skip trying to get my deferent back and go for an income based repayment plan. I filled out the IBR forms on Studentloans.gov, which sends them to UHEAA automatically, but I also faxed the forms and I mailed the forms. I did not hear anything from them so a few days before the new payments were due I called them and talked to a service rep. The service rep said that they had the forms but were behind on processing them. The serivce rep then said that he would suspend my payments for for 60 days so that my IBR paperwork can be process. That was 18 days ago and I just got an updated statement saying my loan is past due and and had the word "delinquent" posted next to my loan, a loan I have had for 10 years and have never been delinquent on. I am freaking out and think I actually might have a stroke over this.

If I could rate it no stars I would. I have had this student loan for 10 years with no issues and the UHEAA took over this past January. WHAT A MESS!!! In the beginning I was told by their representative to not change my payment date or amount and everything would be fine. It is no September 28th and it's still a mess!! The wait time to talk to a human is over 45 minute EVERY TIME I CALL. It's 2016, wait times past 20 minutes are a pain. I have had to call over 4 times now, and have wasted countless amounts of my own time. They still have not fixed their mistakes and my loans keep saying I am not paying on time. They changed the payments date WITHOUT TELLING ME!! and told me to keep paying on the same date. This should be criminal. I didn't ask to change to this crap company!!

One day we received a letter in the mail stating our wages are going to be "Garnished"?. We had No oppertunity of making 1 payment, never even knew what a payment ever was! After being floored for what we read we called these people, We were told, "Now" , listen to this, they said our daughter dropped out of College and this was put into Default! That one was almost as shocking as the letterlwe read? When we assured them she was very much still in College "full time", and double majoring and close to being on the Deans List and doesnt graduate till the end of December 2018! The room got silent?? Terrible service, Terrible website, this company is out to make you pay as much as possible with hiding your actual owed amount. They wont show you your actual owed amount unless you view all the details and do some math. Also the processing takes up to 3 days, so if you don't pay a little over on your final amount the interest will keep building by pennies a day if you aren't checking and you will be in an endless cycle of payment. It took 45 mins one day to get on the phone with an actual rep. I NEVER review anything, but felt so strongly about this that I can't help but warn people.

Same experience as other. 45 minute wait. Set up autodraft then get a letter that I'm late. Report on my credit I was late and they didn't even have the correct address. Customer service is beyond horrible. I feel like this is fraud or something. If they don't know the answer they will hang up in your face. Don't return calls. Update - August 28th. I received a standard form letter dated August 22nd informing me of an overpayment of my account. The letter made no reference to any of the communication we've had to this point (I called in July asking for the refund process to begin). I am beginning to think that despite calling in July, zero action was taken to begin the process of my refund, despite being told it would not only be processed, but expedited. Based on the timeline it seems like no action was taken until the supervisor got involved on the 21st of August, which is disappointing. Now I feel like I was shuffled under the rug, on top of being grossly misinformed on my initial calls. I have filed a review with the BBB and a complaint with the US Department of Education.

I will also note that I have been given a contact for my case and they have apologized. They have told me that they will incorporate my case into their training and have promised to give me updates in the now established 90-day timeline. But, once again, it seems like all of this has only happened after I have posted a negative review to the BBB.

Update - August 21st. I received a voicemail from a supervisor instructing me to call back. I was informed today when I called that the refund process can take 90 days. When I was told the 21 days I was told incorrect information, they say. They were off by nearly 70 days. There is still nothing they can or are willing to do to shorten the 90 day period. This is embarrassingly slow and bad. Everyone please be careful when dealing with UHEAA and your Dept of Education Loans. You may give them a 90 day interest-free loan.

Update -- August 20th. It has been well over 21 days and I still have not received my refund. I called and they will have to check on it and call me back.

This has been the worst experience that I have had with a business or government entity, period. Hands down. I'm not sure why I am even posting here, because student loan servicing is an industry where consumers have zero choice, therefore the experience is dreadful. Nothing will change :(

And to respond to the owner below - when I called today the representative could only see that my payment was in suspended status, not referencing any of the actions that you have listed below, or whether or not they had or had not occurred.

**What is really too bad is the person I talked to did seem to be concerned with my situation, but also did not seem empowered to actually help me.**

They are taking 21 days to issue me a refund on an overpayment of my cumulative loan balances, due to an autopayment processing after my lump sum payment to pay off the total.

21 days is staggeringly slow for the "expedited" option. Here is where I would say "would not recommend" but if you are like me, I didn't choose to do business with them, my loans were simply transferred over.

So I guess just hang onto your money tightly when dealing with the slow dinosaur that is UHEAA and the US department of educations's loans. It's the only thing you have a choice / control over.

This is the worst student loan service company. I am convinced that the loan balance UHEAA had is incorrect and they are very likely over charging me. The number of loans and amounts, dates on the records they have for me do not match the FSA records, yet, they refuse to correct it. They claim that the FSA records are wrong. The customer service are not helpful at all. No one at UHEAA is helpful. I have been extremely frustrated dealing with the company. The interest rate calculations accumulate like a mortgage rate.

Not sure what happened, but I used to have no issues with these people. Now they never answer their phone. I've been on hold at times for more than forty-five minutes, waiting to talk to someone and I never ever can get anyone to answer. Sometimes when I call, a recording tells me the employees are currently in a staff meeting. When they want to talk to me, they have a machine call at 8 am on a Saturday morning that, when I answer, tells me to go to their website or call them. Was there a massive culling? Where have all their employees, who are generally affable and friendly, gone?

I wonder if I went to their downtown address, what I would find? Would someone then be able to talk to me?

EDIT: I've been on hold since 4 pm. It's almost 5, and they close. And so my hold time has done NOTHING TO HELP ME. I've emailed them using their contact us form and nothing has happened. They do not call me, except for the aforementioned Saturday at 8 am machine calling me and telling me to contact them. For years they've serviced my loans and I've loved them, and I have qualified for interest rate reductions for paying faithfully my enormous payment for my shoddy unemployable (my bad, not theirs, still, it's disgusting that naive students are guided to take out loans their future income will never be able to repay) degree, over $300 a month, and now I can't even contact anyone AT ALL WITHOUT devoting an entire five hour block of time to waiting on hold, it seems.

EDIT 2: I emailed the owner using the email address in their response. Not sure they'll see this. I'll update if they call and I get the help I need.

EDIT 3: After 58 minutes on hold, and basically 2 minutes before 5, someone answered. Was able to get help. We'll see where this takes us.
