Was fine until after I returned the car. I was charged for refueling even after I showed my receipt. I would not recommend this rental company to anyone. I rent cars all the time and I took a gamble and realized I should have stuck to SIXT.

I rented a car from Dollar Car Rental out of the DFW airport. There was a sticker on the windshield which seemed to indicate that the car was Toll Tag equipped. I did not read carefully enough. I hit tolls 6 times while I was there: $1.02, $1.02, $.31, $.55, $2.19, and $.64 - all together $5.73. THEN FOR EVERY TIME, DOLLAR RENTAL CAR CHARGED ME A $15 ADMINISTRATIVE FEE. total bill? $95.93. I will never use DOLLAR RENT A CAR again. I will never use HERTZ or THRIFY again. I will post this everywhere I can review any of the companies associated with DOLLAR. I will tell everyone I know. Tell CORPORATE that there are millions of people out here struggling through this time and CORPORATE has an opportunity to be human beings instead of greedy pigs.

Be careful when booking a lot of hidden fees. Customer service is terrible.!!!!!!! Quoted one price from going to pick up my car today at 5am only to find out that they added 380 extra dollars & never explained why. After going back & forth with the front desk lady who not only showed up 30min late to work but had the nerve to be upset cause I was asking questions. I gave up and left!!! I decided to call customer service When asking to speak to anyone like a Manager I was put on hold & then I was hung up on only after being on hold 2x both 30 & 40 minutes. NEVERRRRR once considered I m losing money for the last minute inconvience reservations I booked elsewhere and I m stranded when I booked a week in advance. BE CAREFUL !!!!! No one cares if you have a issue & damn sure not the escalation manager .. Waste of time.. !!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would ...

Dollar doesn t understand actual car RESERVATIONS ...

Dollar doesn t understand actual car RESERVATIONS and overbooks as part of their standard business practices . You can pay for an upgrade but they won t upgrade free of charge even though they don t have the cars to cover a dozen reservations. I get it if it s one or two but we are talking a dozen plus at this moment. Pay the extra and use a more customer driven company!

In January 3rd, I walked up to the Dollar car rental counter and experienced the worst customer service of my life. The rep, Brittany, asked for my credit card for incidentals so I gave it to her. She ran it and said it was declined. Then she insisted I use my debit card. I refused since she had a bad attitude and I didn t want her handling my debit card. She immediately got mad and asked if I had a problem (in a condensing tone). I said I want to cancel my booking because she was giving me a hard time. At this point, Brittany exploded! She started yelling and told me to get the F*** out of here! I asked her to control herself and to get her manager. She countinued yelling, I am the manager and I ll make sure you never rent a car from this airport again!! I asked if she was threatening me and she said, F*** Ya I m treating you! I keep it real!! I asked for a refund since at this point, there was no way I would rent from Dollar, she said, I can t give you a refund, you are f***ed!! Needless to say, I was disgusted! And there were other customers in line behind me who just left, knowing it s not worth dealing with Brittany.
It was the worst experience I ve ever had. Brittany was incompetent and hostile. Unbelievable! I will never rent a car from Dollar ever again!! I went next door to the Hertz counter to get my car. They used common sense and provided great customer service. Dollar should be ashamed of their employee, especially since there are so many rental options. Brittany is the type of employee that is detrimental to a company.

We arrived pretty late at night at the counter after booking through rental cars.
We had picked the 'wild card' which was more expensive than the economy cars and is advertise as a shot to get one of the better cars.
Upon arriving we were told we would get a gigantic truck.
As Europeans, we told the counter clerck we did not feel safe driving such a big car and the we would be ok with any other normal car - even the ones that are cheaper than the wild card.
The manager joined the discussion when the clerck told us it was the manager's choice and even when we told once again we were not feeling comfortable or safe with a big truck he wouldn't buldge. He told us we could pay 30$ a day more than the wild car to get... a small car that was cheaper than the wild card on the website.

Big issues here :
1. Clearly the wild card is not an opportunity to get a pleasant surprise but a way for the manager to give the least wanted/rented car.
2. When renting through a 3rd party, management will make absolutely 0 effort to give you a nice experience. It was not a weekend or high season and it would have been so easy to make us happy (lot was full of cars to chose from)

Thankfully, upon seeing our discomfort in the parking lot a nice lady gave us a small car instead of the truck and told us to just go. She's the only reason this place even deserves a star.

I would give them a zero rating of i could. HORRIBLE costumer service! We booked ahead of time at home and prepaid. She tacked on the insurance for the car at the counter after i told her i didn't want the insurance. When she told me the price i was shocked to see she added the insurance!!! She continued to tell me that "I Said i Wanted the The Insurance" I told her i wouldn't do that because we have our own already. When i explained i didn't want the insurance she told me she would void out the purchase but i would need to rebook the reservation, What a shady way to do business. I left without renting a car from them. That is not the way to do business. Shady as an oak tree!

I rent cars at the airport several times a month, and am usually happy with dollar, but I stood in line for over 20 minutes while one customer service agent was trying to upsell a tourist while the other blatantly ignored me. When I finally got an agent, they were short with me, at best

Avoid them at any cost, even if you end up paying few bucks more at some other rental company. They offer you a cheap car upfront and after your trip they start charging your credit card.

I rented a car in Fort Worth Dallas. These guys are bunch of thieves. They tricked me in buying a pre-paid toll @ $12.29 per day which included everything (in city tolls, processing fee etc). Later I was again charged some $30 after a month on my credit card. When you try calling their customer care, they will act like dumb enough to understand anything and they won`t even provide you a receipt for the charge. With no option left, I am disputing the transaction with my credit card.

This is a really cheap company. The representative Tray is rude and unmannerly.

They want you to get the fuel full and provide the receipt which should be of gas station within 10 miles.

If you get a violation than you will be charged $25 from dollar company as well.

They even hold $250 on your card.

Avoid it at any cost. Please pay extra and goto entreprise or hertz or budget.

If I could give 0 stars I would. We rented a car to drive to Oklahoma to visit family. We made it 30 mins and the vehicle started overheating. It s a 2018 with 28,000 miles no reason to overheat unless it hasn t been properly maintained. We called and they told us our only option was to wait for AAA to come tow the vehicle and they would send a LYFT to take us all the way back to the airport because they re too short staffed to bring another vehicle to us. They wouldn t allow us to leave the vehicle so we had to wait with it. We have called to complain and they offered no alternatives. They ve waisted hours of our time all because they don t maintain their vehicles. I will never use them again and I don t recommend anyone else does either.

Open 24/7. Quick checkout. Easy paperwork. Not the best customer service though. Also the midsize SUV I got wasn't the best. Over 35,000 miles on it and didn't drive any smooth. Overall ok deal.

My reservation was for Thrifty which is my go to car company, never have issues with them. Well the Thrifty rental desk was closed and I was directed to Dollar. They didn t charge me the price quoted on the Priceline website from my reservation, they charged 2x the amount, so when returning the car I had to get an adjustment (because of course they couldn't do it until I picked up the car). When I advised the rep she was supposed to fix it and call me that day...didnt happen. Terrible selection of cars. I had a compact reserved (which said Ford Focus or similiar)...well I ended up with a Yaris! The only cars in the economy and compact area was the Yaris, which is terribly small. I will not be using them again if I rent a car in Dallas. The rep who adjusted my payment was great, best thing about this fiasco.

Worst experience ever. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We areived at the airport and were told it would be a 4 hour wait even with a booked reservation. We had to take an Uber to our hotel and when we tried calling to check on our reservation, there is no way to contact the branch directly. We were told that they could not help us and the customer service rep HUNG UP ON ME.

By far the worst company that I have ever done business with. The employee at the counter made a mistake and added insurance when I have rejected it. I noticed it before I left and pointed it out at the exit. The employee at the exit apologized, told me to take an SUV instead and that when I returned the car they could fix it. Upon return of the car the general manager told me that they could not remove the insurance and that I have to pay for it. Will never do business with such a shady company again.

My first time visiting Texas, I stopped to grab the rental and had a miserable experience here. The line was incredibly long, which I understand the employees can't control. When it was finally my turn, the woman helping me outright lied to me about the pricing on the gas option and also the insurance options. I ended up paying for options I didn't need because she said it was required. I have never used dollar rent a car before and never will again. Buyer beware, this is not the cheap option, that is a trick to get you in line where they will upcharge you as much as they can.

Unprofessional staff. I arrived at 10 PM with a baby. 25 minutes to rent a car at the kiosk because of employee to employee, non-work-related conversations and interruptions. I returned the vehicle at 5 AM - no one to attend us, but there was a sign. After dropping off the vehicle, I took the 10/15 min ride to the airport. I realized after passing TSA that I kept the car keys in my pocket (dumb mistake). I immediately called Dollar's customer service who instructed me to overnight the keys and all would be well. I did, at a cost of $80 understanding this was my mistake. Dollar still charged me an additional $227 dollars because of this. This is the first time I will be consciously avoiding a business. I am completely comfortable in paying more with a competitor simply to avoid Dollar Rent a Car

Got to Dallas Texas from Oregon. Booked a luxury car on there website. Website says to bring the debit/ credit card that you made the reservation with you. Got to dollar rent a car and was told I need a return flight booked atleast 24 hours prior to picking up the rental or a major credit card. Mind you there website says none of this on booking my reservation. So they downgraded me after paying to a full size suv. Then I spoke to there manager then the number on the pamphlet and the manager on the pamphlet told me there system doesn't tell you any of this when renting a luxury car or higher and he was sorry but im still stuck in a suv and he would let his corporate know about the issue. Very unhappy and very unprofessional. I will not rent from a company that will not stand behind there word. You buy something and then when u fly in it's changed. Not right!!

In short, first and probably last time to rent from Dollars store . Highly recommended to look other options.. Worst experience of car renting over the years..

Over $500 charged, quoted 800# 29.99 a day economy car, had resv # for quote, dated, time, res agent name. Said the number was short 2 numbers so couldn't allow the rate. Have tried calling 800# to resolve and get held on hold 3 agents and none could help over 45mins. Will never use again. Give me my refund..

The previous reviews had me concerned. My experience was no where near like the bad ones. We declined coverage, declined toll coverage (make sure you avoid tolls or they will ding you for a lot set your gps to avoid tolls). We only paid for the rental for 3 days which was $103 for a Hyundai sonata. I would consider this place again. The car was clean and safe.

I will never use this car rental again. They will tell you that if you dont buy the toll tag they sell then you will be charged a 15.00 service fee for each tollway camera you drive under. Then they gave me a long story on if I didnt get their insurance and I had a wreck that I would be responsible for the cost of the rental while it was being fixed. No other rentals have never tried to scam me like Dollar. Never Ever will I use them.

I was told I had to add insurance even though it explicitly states in the document given to me that I did not. When I refused it the agent asked me who I had my insurance with. I finally agreed to the lowest tier available so that I could get to my destination with my husband and six year old. It was midnight to our bodies and I spent 45 minutes arguing with agent. Not what I was expecting nor want.

Worse experience ever. PLEASE READ TO SAVE A LIFE....

Worse experience ever. PLEASE READ TO SAVE A LIFE.

They do credit checks when you get there and WILL NOT give you the car if your credit is low; even after paying for the car.

I used a different card for credit check and got approved. I told them to use the card that I paid with for any extra fees, not the card that I used for the credit check..... WELL.... they listened soooo well. They used the card I told them not to use and overdrafted my account majorly.

They also asked if I needed a "toll pass"? (Something like that). I had no idea what that was (our state doesn't have that) and a verbally told them I didn't know what that was. The women asked where I was traveling and then said I should be fine. NOPE. Got a flashing light ticket even though there was no cash toll at all.

My car was literally a piece of junk for a 2017. No Bluetooth, speakers completely blown. During my trip I went to adjust my seat and pulled it back, the connector came off so you couldn't move it up or down. It was all the way back and I'm 5'2" and could barely reach my pedal. So dangerous and super uncomfortable the rest of my trip. I complained when I got there to return it and they were totally unbothered.

My car was suppose to be filled up when I got their and it was more than 3/4 filled and they charged me $30 even though it takes $25 to fill the whole tank.

So initially I thought I was only going to spend the $340. But instead I spent over $670 between the underage fees, gas and taxes.

Never going back again.

The care I rented from there was great and the price was very good as well. I coming from new jersey found it weird that i had to avoid tolls bc they don't take cash and i don't have a "tag". I think car rentals should have a solution for that. I got a Jetta and taking the car and returning it was a very simple process.

Would have been a good experience except for the fact that the front attendant lied to our faces resulting in $30 administrative fees for processing a $3 toll. The attendant asked if we would be going through any tolls and I said I didn't know but that we are heading south to Waco. She said that we would not run into any when asking if I want to prepay for tolls. However, there was a toll 5 miles down the road leaving the airport. She had to know that and lied. If you book, allow them to prepay tolls or it could cost you extra. Horrible customer service when trying to get the issue resolved. I WILL NEVER BOOK WITH DOLLAR AGAIN.

I loved going to Dollar rental great customer service at the location at the front desk .. BUT I rented a vehicle on Friday (09/13) returned it 2hrs earlier on Saturday no nobody was there to confirm I turned it in. I did check with front desk before leaving and they told me leave keys in the car on the ignition. Okay I said. Today is Monday (09/16/19) why on earth hasn t the vehicle I rented been marked by their facility it s been rcvd PLUS i get charged an EXTRA $100 per day additional until someone lays eyes one the vehicle so u mean to tell me in the last two days nobody s been up there to confirm I turned in the vehicle ???? No ones worked this weekend ??? I went Sunday lunch time was told Michelle the manager was going to take care of this by the afternoon and she would give me a call back and if I had any questions to could ca the 1-800 # and asked to get transferred to the facility .. 5 calls in and I STILL can t get thru n the manager never called me back. Oh but that I shouldn t worry because they will refund me my money What if I didn t have any funds in my account ?? Where u going to take care of my overdraft fees??? Why do I have to go out out of MY way to go back to the airport and take care of this matter??? I cannot get thru to talk to someone at the facility so I now have to wait until I get out of work to go when I should be at home with my child making dinner instead! I will never rent from here again! This makes me loose my trust in them! Two whole days my rental was returned and no one seems to be able to confirm I returned it yet oh but their so quick to charge my account $100 fee !!! I lost my trust and confidence in this facility !!! I ve rented before in other occasions loved their prices and customer service you would think me being a loyal customer I would get better treatment but nope .. loyalty means nothing to them!

I guess rental car agencies do not understand how ...

I guess rental car agencies do not understand how hospice care and emergency situations work. I am currently on emergency leave to visit my father in law. We flew in from Alaska to Texas, but our flight arrangement couldn't get us to Killeen for a whole extra day. But we could get to Dallas and drive there before an airline could get us here. I tried explaining the situation the best that I could when reserved the car. That my father in law is being released into hospice care and we do not know how it will go once he's released. That I didn't know how long I was going to be needing the car and I didn't have tickets leaving Texas yet. So we are now booking our flights out and we are flying directly from Killeen. So we've been on the phone with the company for 2 hours now. We've gotten the run around and have been told multiple different things. Then come to find out the office I thought was the Dallas office was some office in Ohio or something. The reservation was made by SATO travel, a government agency that specializes in organizing complicated travel. Long story short, all of this has added extra stress to my already stressed wife. Dollar sucks!!

This is a review for my pick up experience: The lady at the counter hassled me a lot less about add-ons and other BS than other companies I've rented with. The lady working outside in the lot was also really nice. I got a pretty nice car, with bluetooth audio and all. If I have any issues at drop-off, I will update this review (written 2/6/2020)

I had a wonderful experience with Dollar until today, two weeks after returning from my trip. I just received my $65 bill for my $5 in tolls. One charge was $15.90. A 90 cent toll with a $15 administration fee. The agent at the counter told me about paying toll fees, but said absolutely nothing about the administration fee for each separate toll. It s a shame Dollar hasn t ensured their employees explain this clearly, especially since so many people have had this same experience. I will be taking my business elsewhere next time I rent a car.

Honestly it's not even worth going through them. Some of their administrative fees are uncalled for, don't give you all the information and you might as well pay for the more well known companies at least they'll do their best to help you. They're fee on underage drivers was more than what the website states even though i was only one month away from turning 25, apparently the deposit/fee you pay online isn't refundable it's just to hold a certain price you selected. Not worth it

Everything was great except the person on the counter. He tried to sell an upgrade first then an insurance plan. I did not want any of it. He, then, lied about the insurance plan that I have to get it in a taunting manner. I interacted with 2 more people, one helpful lady around the car lot and another gentlemen when returned the car. I rent from Dollar, Thrfty, and Hertz around the country never have I ever had a problem with my card. I get to the counter at this location which I have been to before same card, and the agent advises me that they don't accept my card. I pulled up previous contracts showed them to the agent charged thousands at a time with the same card. I will be reaching out to Dollar directly because I have to spend my 30th birthday writing a negative review about some very unprofessional agents and manager that I dealt with last night. One of the agents a male decided to try to insult my intelligence by saying 'NETSPEND' cards go through and they are prepaid. My business debit card and ID crossed multiple hands, and I didn't appreciate that (Pamela the agent I was working with who started this fiasco, Darnesha-the agent that called herself helping and did not, another female clerk wanted to see it herself to "verify" that they didn't take it as she was passing by, the manager, and some guy holding a baby in the managers office also was standing over my personal information.
Now if the company has changed their debit card policy someone should've had that in writing somewhere. These Dollar/Thrifty agents criticized and ostracized me in front about 10 people who were waiting in line, and I don't appreciate it.
But the lack of professionalism and the mishandling of someone's personal information are biggest issues that I have with this location. After I pulled up previous contracts one over $1000 from last month using the same card my reservation should've been honored. What gets me with these agents is that my insurance covers the car in the event of an accident or situation not my debit card. There are very few people whose debit cards could take a hit for the cost of an entire rental car.

Dollar/Thrifty/Hertz you never have a problem charging me so why should I have to deal with poor customer service and ignorant low level employees.

This location charged my husband over $400 in error. He returned the car 3 hrs ahead of his return time, and the agent that took the car back did not notate the gas or close the ticket out until 4 hours later and this caused the over charge. Not only did Britney at the front desk have no idea what she was doing, she mis-informed my husband and said his card would have the money back within 12 hrs. This was information she got from the billing department. Once this didn t happen, my husband contacted customer service billing again and the agent Katrina wasn t able to help him, and Zack, the so called supervisor assumed the $400 Credit was a COURTESY from Dollar. Ha!! As a tenured Customer Service professional, I advised Zack to ensure he reads the notes before he gets on the phone to speak to a 7 year, faithful Dollar Rent-A-Car customer! Zack had the audacity to be annoyed at my husband and simply stated There s nothing I can do sir. You already had a courtesy $400 Credit onto your account. The LEAST he could have done would have been to TRY to do something for my husband, who isn t able to get another rental because his funds haven t been returned!! He s now STRANDED!!
Not only did this company make us feel as if our inconvenience was not their problem, despite them causing it, they also lost our business. Zack just got this reported to the Better Business Bureau, along with certified complaints to Dollar and their parent company, so their CEO s can be made aware of how we were treated.
I am sure Gary L. Paxton would not tolerate his employees losing business due to negligence and indifference!!

Rented a car through Orbitz (it said compact, ford focus or similar). Had 2 issues:

1) The actual car was not anything like Ford Focus, it was even smaller than that, choice was either Mazda 2 or Scion XA, much smaller cars.

2) In Texas there is no way to pay tolls at the tolls (great Texas system!) as the bill is sent to the car owner, but I guess they did not think about that if you are renting. We did not think we would go through any tolls so declined, very "generous" offer from Dollar Rent a Car at 12$ a day for unlimited tolls. Car rental was about $100 for 7 days, so total would be 84$ for tolls. Of course we ended up using some tolls and received a bill from DOLLARFINE, which indicated 12$ in tolls and 60$ in administrative fees, basically 15$ per each toll. Why in hell you cannot pay just for the tolls used? I tried calling Texas tollway and they could never find any bills due, that is because Dollar does this on purpose, show a low price and up charge you for every toll. DO NOT RENT THERE as these admin fees are ridiculous.

We were in Dallas, Texas because of being assigned to a new project for the company. The project was started in 5 days and the company flew us in late that night and my co-worker went online that night to secure an inexpensive rental car to pick up the next morning for use to utilize to locate a place to reside in Dallas because we would be relocating here for the next 12 to 18 months. We completed the necessary information online and it charged my coworker for the days of rental that we needed and gave her a reservation number and a time to pick. We Uber'd to the DFW Airport after check the Dollar website AND confirmation page to ensure we had all the necessary paperwork. When we arrived to the counter the agent informed us they would have to charge our credit card for $350 (place a hold on the credit card. We did not want the hold on our credit card since we needed every dollar to relocate to Dallas and secure housing immediately. When we ask the people to cancel the reservation the agent informed us they do not do reservations and we would need to contact the third party online booking agency to ask them for a refund. Once we finally located a number and spoke with the third party booking they informed us that the two-hour window had expired and they could not give us our money back. We spent another 32 minutes on hold waiting to speak with a manager or supervisor and then 16 additional minutes explaining the situation to this person. After threatening to report them to the BBB the manager stated that he would do this gracious thing for us but they normally don't offer refunds even though there confirmation email tells you everything you will need to pick up the rental car, however, it FAILS to mention that they require a $350 hold be placed on your credit card. Long story short...Dollar rental car Agents were horrible, unapologetic and basically nonchalant about the entire situation. I RECOMMEND YOU STAY AWAY FROM THIS RENTAL CAR COMPANY. The lure you in with the specials that are not specials. We ended up going down to the AVIS rental car counter and a Super nice Customer Service Agent named A'dam was able to get us the rental car we needed at an even better rate than Dollar and they did not place a $350 dollar hold on our credit card. As a matter of fact she apologized for what Dollar Rental Car took us through. The Avis Agent was an angel in disguise!

Used Dollar rental at the DFW airport. The agent told me that I had a toll pass but when I got home I was sent at $65 toll bill for $5 worth of tolls. They charged$15 per toll charge. I don't even know if I truly went through those tolls. Never using them again.

Two people working the counters with a dozen people in line, completely inept. After waiting for an hour they didn't even apologize for the wait. No urgency, no care or concern for customers. Horrendous experiemce.

Had to stand in line at the DFW Dollar Rental for quite awhile (about 4 customers ahead of me). Then they used scare tactics trying to sell insurance, toll fees, etc. First place I have rented a car and they said just go pick one out in this row. I just chose the first one in the row, which was a 2016 Accent. Someone had done a number on this poor car already. One of the wheels was warped, a big dent in the roof, the mirror in the visor was crushed, with pieces of glass falling out, and the cover for the hatchback was broken. Other than all that, the car drove ok for a compact. At $16.00 a day it was ok, but when I get the bill, there was another $83 worth of add ons. Just not the service I am use to in rental cars. Best of luck to others that rent from Dollar.

After booking a reservation online and seeing my one week total of 306$, I arrived at DFW airport. I waited in line and was greeted by a lady behind the counter. I asked if this additional charge could be taken off the reservation and I was informed that this was the minimum I could be charged for this vehicle. After signing the receipt I get back to the terminal after my trip and see that there was an additional 31$/day charge on the ticket. I said I thought this was the minimum? Minimum would be asking me if I would like to waive additional insurance. I m on a business trip, so. It only do I have insurance myself my company is covering me in case anything happens. No option was given to me to waive the insurance and no insurance of mine was ever asked for. Slimy way to make an extra 150 for your company. I will no longer use dollar rent a car.

Easy in and out with the car pickup. Lots of nice well kept cars for traveling. Usually have at least three to choose from. The staff was friendly and helpful. The process was easy and the car was in great shape with a full tank ready for the road. I wish the airport staff worked as seamless as Dollar. From picking up to dropping off the whole experience was easy.

Update: They actually charged me 30 admin fees for a 3 dollar charge, I will never rent from them again

This place is awful. It s 530 am and they have only have one person working. The line is about 10 deep and they don t have anyone outside to help get the cars. Don t these company s have a reservation system that lets them know when its going to be busy? I vowed never to use Dollar again and I made the mistake of getting sucked in by their rates again and I won t let it happen a third time.

They would not honor a prepaid reservation through Orbitz because my credit card would not card swipe through their machine. They would not use the chip, type in the card number, call for a manual auth, etc . The agent said that they had problems if a card was scratched any. When i picked up my phone to call the number on the back of the card, the manager said that there were other people in line and to leave. Dollar Rent A Car left us at the DFW airport without a rental car even after we paid with an Orbitz prepaid reservation. We are working with Orbitz to get our money back. BEWARE BOOKING WITH DOLLAR RENT A CAR BECAUSE IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU TOO!

We were in town for a family members' funeral and ...

We were in town for a family members' funeral and needed to drive the last 3 hours to the destination city. We selected this company because my mother-in-law liked them. The experience was so awful, that my husband who is really laid back even said we will NEVER rent from this company again. Sorry for the wall of text but let me go through our experience....

-I signed up for their rewards so that we could get the added spouse driver for free. I did this a few days before we arrived. The woman looks at my reservation and says she doesn't see I'm enrolled in rewards and that it takes 78 hours to get in the system. Seventy-eight... really. She wanted $15 a day for this. Enterprise offers this free rewards or not but I did research it for Dollar and took the necessary steps to be eligible.
-She offered the insurance. I advised her we already had purchased the insurance with the rental. She said that did not satisfy Texas minimum insurance requirements. I advised her that I had personal car insurance if that was in fact the case.
-She offered the prepaid gas. As I was looking up gas prices in the area she added the prepaid gas and shoved the rental agreement and pen towards me in an attempt to sign agreeing to the $40+ in prepaid gas. Their gas was $2.72 or something and GasBuddy said area prices were $2.14. She was irritated when I made her remove the gas and reprint.
-Speaking of gas, after she reprinted the non-prepaid gas rental agreement she said we had to put gas in the rental on the same day we returned it within 10 miles of the airport and keep our receipt as proof. Why we needed to get gas within 10 miles; she said it was because you could drive 70-80 miles in the car before it would go below Full. I can guarantee you we did not drive 80 miles before the tank went below full on the way out.
-When we arrived back we gave the receipt to the woman checking us in - she told us she didn't even need to see it; then when we explained why we were giving it to her she said that was not a policy. Go figure.

I get their job in retail is to up sell but outright lies during each part of the process?!? Ok - we will be going back to Enterprise or Hertz next time.

I will give them credit though for having an adequately staffed service desk and a wide variety of cars. In addition, the process was quick; the interaction with the woman giving us the car (checking out?) took less than 20 minutes from start to finish. And the woman checking us in - took less than 5 minutes.

Any management reading this that wants to see our reservation (maybe to retrain your staff) we picked up the car on 11/21 and returned it 11/24 Rental Record 173869721.

This is the worst car rental company. 1st, their h...

This is the worst car rental company. 1st, their hours say open at 5AM, but the lady Stephani walks in at 6:15AM INTERRUPTING me when I brought up that why weren't they open at 5AM, she responds with "Ma'am DON'T do that to me." and said they open at 6AM, which means they were STILL late. She argues and says the other rental company Hertz was "supposed to help" us, but when we asked the Hertz company to help, they said they could not. Online it shows a fee of $125 for services and fees, but when you show up to get your car they tell you it's a $200.00 deposit. When I asked why the difference, she says "well SHOW me that it says that", once we showed their website, she disregards the website and says "Well it's $200.00." and I asked her why the difference, she could not respond. She continued to throw more numbers at us, and continued to interrupt when we would try to ask a question, or talk. She never once apologized. There was another gentleman running late to his sisters wedding in line, he had reserved a car for 6 people, Stephani says, "Well I'll get you what I got, I don't know if I have one for 6 people." We also ended up with a SUV instead of smaller car which was reserved, so we end up having to pay more in gas as well. Thanks, Dollar! The worst customer experience, and all they want is $. Go anywhere else.

Watch out for outrageous hidden fees!

Watch out for outrageous hidden fees!
We rented a car here for the holidays to visit family. We were offered a toll tag for a price of over $20 per day. Knowing we would not accrue that much in tolls we declined. We would just pay the tolls ourselves. We were never given the opportunity.

We received a letter a few days after returning the car that toll fees were paid on our behalf. The tolls totalled $11 for taking a toll road twice yet we were being charged $101 dollars on the bill. They wanted $90 in "administrative fees". I do not understand how they can justify this outrageous fee. This is something they should make customers aware of at the counter, not just in small print on their rental agreement. Also, the rental agreement is deceptive because it says a $15 fee per use of the toll road. That is not true. There is a fee per distance and they charge $15 every single time that fee is assessed even though they are sent one bill and only have to pay it once. Totally outrageous.

Customer service said they would look into it. It took them a little over a week to get back to us and in that time they sent our bill to collections, less than two weeks from the return of the rental! They did reduce the fee to $30 but I still feel that is too much, especially with the waste of time it took me to get it reduced. I don't want to do business with company's like this so I will not be renting from them in the future. I suggest you read the rental contract carefully if you use them.

Last week was my second rental from Dollar at DFW ...

Last week was my second rental from Dollar at DFW because they were the cheapest. My organization is very cost conscious but I will not rent from them again. For the second time, I waited nearly 10 minutes before the (very nice) man was able to check me out but my return was even worse. One person was working on a Friday afternoon to check in cars. After an interminable wait while he checked in the car in front of me, I asked him to simply check me in and email my receipt. When the receipt arrived I had been charged (erroneously) $18 for fuel. I called Dollar, explained the situation and volunteered to email the gasoline receipt documenting the refill minutes before the return at a station a mile away. The person on the phone said he couldn't reverse the charge. He transferred me to Customer Service where that person told me I should have complained at the time I returned the car. I explained that I was unable to wait; he reiterated that my complaint was coming too late. After much back and forth, he finally agreed to reverse the charge but said he could not send me a new receipt - I would just have to watch my credit card bill for the credit. This is only the second critical online review I have ever written and probably still would not have done it except that Dollar has now sent me three emails asking me to review them.

When we went to return the car we were told we were good and got on the bus to the airport we stopped and doubke checked with the person who had just checked the car. Later on the bus thru the radio they told the driver to tell us we had a $300 charge, so unprofessional. The manager wasn't even going to tell us he was charging us $300 for the car smelling like smoke cuz he said I smoked in it, which I did not. I did smoke when I got out of it like 10 feet away. Then the bus driver had to turnaround so we could ask him about it and he proceeded to just say no he's charging us and wouldn't consider anything or let my mom have any chance to discuss it or have someone else check it. He was o rude and such a horrible customer service rep when my mom left she cried and became so distraught she could barely get into the airport. He was so rude I will never ever go back here again and suggest you do not either. Go to enterprises where we normally go and have never had an issue and they talk to you and have customer service skills and care about their customers. This place is the worst rental experience we've ever had, solely from the manager when we're leaving. He's a shorter rounder I guess middle Eastern or Indian or not sure but that one. He was so rude and had no customer service skills.

If I could give this business zero stars, I would....

If I could give this business zero stars, I would.
I rented from Dollar in April 2017 from the DFW location. I had the vehicle for four days. Upon returning it, the employee pointed to the roof and mumbled something about hail damage. Not only was there no noticeable damage on the vehicle, but it hadn't rained (much less hailed) the entire time I had the car. In fact, the vehicle was in a garage when I picked it up so even if there was damage, it would have been caused well before I was even in the state. (Conveniently, the garage was dark and I wouldn't have noticed the damage when I picked up the car even if I had wanted to. The staff also didn't perform an inspection of the vehicle before I rented it, so it's probably buried in the paperwork that you have to do an inspection yourself before leaving the garage.) They encouraged me to submit a damage report along with my insurance information, so I did.
My insurance denied the claim. The insurance agent said it may end up being dropped by Dollar, but lo and behold, a collection agency called me a couple weeks later saying I owed $1650(!!!!!) for the damage. I stated only that I intended to dispute the claim, and they didn't contact me for another couple months. They did eventually call back and the only reason the charges were dropped was that Dollar didn't submit photos of the damage until 500 miles after I returned the vehicle, which means they most likely tried to scam another customer(s).
In short, Dollar tried to make me pay $1650 for "damage" that I couldn't possibly have been responsible for. I will obviously never rent again from them or any business associated from them.

Reserved a convertible by Thrifty. They were closed but transferred their rentals through Dollar . First Dollar didn't have the convertible , then missed typed my CC info ( causing a decline ), then charged my Debit Card instead. Well it too was declined because obviously you charge a DC for convertibles.
Long story short , I was charged for vehicle I never got. Have to wait 5 business days for money to be put back. HORRIBLE!!

Went through 3 tolls that added up to 6.06 and got charged a $45.00 admin fee; $15.00 per tow. Instead of charging the $6.06 to my card, they send a letter in the mail so they can charge a ridiculous admin fee. Go to other rental car services.

My wife and l were lied to and told that insurance they provide for the car was non negotiable and we had to purchase, l questioned the agent because l knew this couldn't be true and was given a story of how the police would arrest me if we were pulled over. Not only did we purchase insurance for the car, the rental agent unwillingly signed us up for a second insurance coverage that l didn't know of until l called the main office. We walked out sending 94$ for 1 day rental! Turns out, these "agents" make commission off these "add ons". I will never rent from Dollar again. luckily l was able to get a refund for the 2 insurances
