Good internet service, and it's very affordable if you get one of their deals.


Oh, and the wait time to talk to a human? Over an hour. Perhaps that's because their phone system and online portals are completely worthless? Just a guess...

I called Hawaii Telecom and I got my internet service setup with a good price and everything and salesperson put my paperwork through told me it was processed and that a technician would be calling me to set up an installation time well it's been five six days have not heard anything I have emailed the sales rep I have called the sales rep I even called the customer service line and got the runaround and I have to have my internet up and working by a certain time because I work from home for the Shriner's Children's Hospital in if I don't have internet I don't get paid this is the worst service I've ever seen and I wish to God there were somewhere else I could go but spectrum is no better

Very difficult to work with. Customer service beyond awful. Simple requests take days, even weeks. Incredible lack of professionalism or care for their customers' time. Will be returning to Spectrum ASAP! Hawaiian Telcom is giving Hawaii a bad name. Hawaiian Telcom: please rename yourself as not to associate your poor service with the people and the land of Hawaii.

Their 30 day satisfaction guarantee is all a lie. I was only with them for 5 days (long story) but the time it took for me to cancel and pay them the $6.04 I owed took longer than 5 days jumping through a bunch of hoops. From installation to cancellation I've has the WORST customer service in all of Hawaii. And I ended up paying $8 because of their stupid online service fee. I would type the whole experience I had from installation to cancellation but there is a character limit on posts.

they're very bad at doing their jobs and treating people with respect. it took me four phone calls and two hours of hold time to cancel my service and now they're forcing me to drive thirty minutes to return the equipment THEY put in my house. And they won't cancel my payments until I do so. such a garbage company. this is the type of service you never expect in Hawaii. Shame on them for using the Hawaiian name in such a disgraceful manner.

Absolutely awful company. If you have a choice, which some don't, avoid this company at all costs.

I was enrolled in a bundle after the promotional period without my consent. I asked for my tv service to be discontinued and to only have internet wi-fi. I was told a supervisor/customer specialist had to call me to confirm. I was on duty and could not answer when they finally called me 3 days later. I called back and was told I had to reschedule the customer specialist call. The "rate bundle" that I did NOT request, went from $65 to $89 overnight with no notice and then suddenly to $274 at the end of the "promotional period" after I specifically requested that tv services be removed. While waiting for the new call from the customer specialist, I had to abruptly move and cancel all services and account. The services were not used after 10/24 and yet I had to pay for them until 10/29 when the equipment was returned with a current balance owing of $366.83. This is egregious. I never agreed to pay for any new bundle of services. The customer callback policy is used to extort and sell bundles of overpriced services that customers don't wish to have.

Update: So, we now had this service for almost 8 months. For the most part it has been great. $100 for internet and tons of t.v. Only 'complaint' is their 'on-demand' stuff is awful. You can't watch any t.v. or movies without paying. Which is 'ok', if you remember to setup a recording. Internet speed is NEVER above 75MBpS. I bought 300mbps. I called, but they take days to call you back and the chat is never on. I've learned to deal the speed, it works for me.

Ok, so far so good. Have had service 1+ week, Internet/hardy tv package. I work tech remotely and have noticed no issues. Reviews are making me nervous, but thus far all is good. Install guy super nice, I have tons of channels...fibeoptics available in my area. Speed had been around 200 download and 50 upload. I'll report back if anything changes.

**Update: So, we have had HI telecom for > a year. All my previous comments hold. Internet speed is never what advertised...but is 'ok'. Occasionally our streaming will buffer....maybe once a month. Seems to resolve itself with a modem reboot. I'll stay with them b/c of the price...

No one will answer the phone when you call for tech support. I've been on hold for over an hour today. Internet is VERY slow, web pages take minutes to load, no one will help when this is the case. I'm looking around at other providers where I can switch. Funny- customer service seemed GREAT when I wanted to sign up and start with them. But now that I'm already a paying customer they don't seem to care to help.

We are so grateful to him and hope that the company recognizes the outstanding service he provides their customers.

called on Feb 19th 2019... service is down, they can bring someone on Feb 26th....Now this is where it gets normal for them(Hawaiian tell)...could not find property, On their phone message says "don't answer any phone call if you suspect a spam call even if it a local number"... I get spam call all the time so, they called I didn't answer because i was at work and i usually don't answer the phone anyway.when I'm at work.... so they leave, now they won't call until you say " hay my internet is still down"... let me see if i can help...(Hawaiian tell) Now you have to get back in line after you push several keys to get to the right area...( feel if they are smart, no pun intended...Hawaiian tell should do like the good old day when you called for service, someone answered the phone and put you in line fast and convenient) ..but rather cut jobs and increased profit, so YOU do the job of someone else...now back to my venting.... it now March 7th and my service is still down, but the bills for service is still coming, Well they get something right!!! Here is my suggestions we are screwed only Hawaiian tell and spectrum that's it... Hawaiian tell should:
1. 24 hours customer service and one phone number!!!
2. There in the tech business, why don't their field unit don't use company phone?? that comes up at Hawaiian tell calling?????
3. GPS on their trucks???

Trying to contact tech. support waited 2 hours then got disconnected called back waited another 2 hours called on another phone to billing while waiting for tech. support finally after 15 minutes waiting for billing got a answer. Tech. support still had me on hold, ridicules waiting 4 hours. Really sad pay all that money every month and can't get good customer service. Good by Hawaiian Tel. Had to give 1 star

These guys are good. Especially their employees. Teron took good care of me during the install of my super fast internet, all the while, taking his shoes off, being very polite and professional. I highly recommend Teron to do your install, especially if you live in downtown SF. He knows how to treat his customers and communicates very well!

Signed up for fiber, with a promotion of 1 year free Hulu / Netflix service. Person setting up my service said he would waive my activation fee, I thought how nice of him. Turns out in doing so, I lost the 1 year promotion service, and the company wont fix it. I wonder if this is the strategy, waive the fee, later tell customers that in doing so they don't get the streaming promotion, very shady. On top of that, I asked what my "final bill after all fee's and taxes would be" and I was told the amount, when I got my actual bill, it was $10 a month more, because guess what, fee's that they did not tell me. Very, very unhappy with the unethical service.

This ISP (Internet Service Provider) does not even allow open ports which you need for a open NAT Type (Network Address Translation or Network Address Translator). TheLegend27 does not recommend this ISP to any gamer.

Unbelievably, consistently bad reception. Customer service wait times literally hours, 5 days waiting for tech to service and needed a tech to come out again w/i a month of last service call. More expensive for supposed 1gig but if service is not working or weekly rebooting and trying to get back on net.....then its zero gigs. Ppl nice but in 6 months a huge source of stress. It wasn t for me. Went back to Spectrum.....faster everything, customer service, tech to house, simpler equipment....less expensive for lesser service yet faster, better picture and reliable; haven t gotten kicked off net or rebooted yet. Only left Spectrum b/c new landlord sold me on fiber optics . Def wasn t for me.

Customer service is poor, agent was rude. Wait times are over two hours. I tried calling on Saturday at 4 pm and an automated voice message said they are open from 8am to 530 pm but there call center is now closed. My internet and televisions has been out for 4 days and she refused to send someone Until Monday from 0800 to 1200, so I guess I will also have to take off work. She also said I would see a credit for the loss in service in 2 months but I would probably have to all in, also she could not tell me how much my credit would be. She repeatedly interrupted me, it was crazy. I could not believe it. Also spectrum looks to be cheeper so I will probably switch.

I called both Spectrum and Hawaiian Telcom looking to get the best deal on just internet service. Spectrum being so big, I felt they were just trying to push and sell me product which I wasn t comfortable with so I called Hawaiian Telcom instead. The first person I spoke with was very nice and friendly. I set up an appointment but the first available was 1 1/2 wks out. I didn t know any better so I asked is there a way I could be placed on a waitlist if a cancelation spot opens up? They told me just keep calling to check. The next business day I called and a spot open up sooner so I grabbed it. Unfortunately I had to go back to my original appointment since neither my husband nor I was able to take the day off for the rescheduled appointment. Hawaiian Telcom was not able to give me a time slot rather a day slot from 8 to 5pm! That s a whole day of waiting around for the tech to come to set up my internet. Again since it was my first time I thought that was the norm. When my appointment day finally came, I called first thing at 8am to confirm a tech was coming. I was assured my appointment was set up. By 1pm my husband text saying no one has called and for me to check with them again. When I called the next person explains there was a mix up and no one was coming! I was super upset as I explained I called in the morning and confirm my appointment. The csr person was empathetic and offered $30 toward my first bill if I still chose to have set up service with them. She tried to see if there was an earlier appt but the next one was 5 days out and another 8-5 slot again! I told her I would like to talk to a supervisor. And that point she stated she was required to advise me that a supervisor will call me within 24hrs. I asked why a supervisor can not take my call now and was told they were all in a meeting? Wth?!
I decide I d call spectrum again and ended getting a better deal and went down to their store grabbed my modem and installed my internet that same day. Next day Hawaiian Telcom supervisor finally called but I told them I went to Spectrum instead and my service is already set up.

It s extremely disappointing for my first
experience as an interested customer. I was originally interested in Hawaiian Telcom for their customer service but it was obviously lacking. The extended wait time for an appt and set up is extremely ridiculous. $30 retribution for taking 2days off nowhere would recoup the time and pay lost. Waiting 24hrs to speak to a supervisor is poor customer service.

If I had known from the beginning I could get service the same day with Spectrum I would have gone with them to begin with and save myself all this grief and time wasted.

Hawaiian Telcom really needs to work on their weaknesses if they want to compete Spectrum.

We switched to Hawaiian telecom hoping for better service. I haven't been able to watch TV because the service doesn't connect in my bedroom despite having 2 netgear extenders. Customer service does not do much to help. Internet service cuts out which makes watching Netflix difficult.

Hawaiian Telcom continues to disappoint me. My DVR doesn't work and just recently my TV started working but only for 1 week. Now all I get on all TV's is the blue screen with their logo.
My efforts to contact tech support was awful. I waited over 2 hours and no tech support picked up the call. I tried calling back 3 times only to be told that a tech has to physically check the fiber optics. Oh... and they can't come out until Wednesday. What? Today is Saturday! No TV and no phone? I miss Oceanic Cable!!!!!!!!!

This company not only over charged me by $100 for their lowest internet service, they also charged me an extra month which I did not receive them continued to claim I that I didn t turn in my equipment even after I provided them with the return receipt. My internet bill was setup for $45/month, my bill came out to $286 and some change. They also sent collections on me even though my bill was paid for the right amount which was roughly $54 with tax because they wanted me to pay for 2 months of their premium package which I never signed up for and never had regardless. HawaiianTelcom is very unreliable, their customer service and business model is crooked and shady. I would NOT recommend them to anyone.

The star goes to all the technicians who have tried to help! They could actually get a 5 star rating, but I'm actually rating the "service." You can check my call history and see how many times I've called about the same problem! Since we've had rain rain, the static is back....oh surprise! WHEN will we ever get the fiberoptic cabling on Lunahelu Street in Maunawili so the problem will be solved and you can throw away your bandaids? I really want to keep my land line but have never been so close to ditching it! Your trucks all say "Always on" --that's simply not true!

Customer service is hit or miss. WHEN YOU CALL ALWAYS SAY YOU ARE CALLING TO SET UP A NEW ACCOUNT. It will put you through to the same representatives and the call will go through much faster and won t disconnect. I m not sure if their phones even connect your calls if you go through any other route in the menu.

I ve talked to some representatives that are great and go the extra mile to help you and others that were rude and dismissive. They are all people and deal with stress of workplace environments in a different way, so it depends entirely on who you get on the other side.

The internet service I ve had from them is pretty good. It isn t better or worse than any other company.

Terrible experience with them. I was going to start a service with them. The representatives that called me were pushy. Requested a SSN over the phone which is highly unprofessional and a gross disregard for privacy and security. Told me that I would need to go in person to the storefront to show an ID/Drivers License- storefront had no parking for customers whatsoever. Nearest parking lot wanted $20.00 for the first two hours. Lady at the counter was rude, snappy, and "only records ID info into the computer and takes old returned equipment" and refused to answer a question I had about the service they're about to install. This was enough to show me that their claim of being committed to Hawaii is a sham - I did not feel respected or treated like a customer at all. I am attempting to cancel the order now and the over the phone customer service in attempting to transfer me to cancellations department has disconnecred/dropped my call on me twice already. Calling a third time, the representative said that they will have someone call me back "as soon as possible." It has been about four hours since that exchange and I am still waiting for a call.

I called them and ask them what they can do for customers during covid19. 50% credit to one bill was their answer.
We were out of business for two months so we didnt use there service and yet just 50% refund for a small business with under 12 employees.
I was hoping for a at least a month credit and it would be amazing if they credit two months.
On there website they claim to care and helping with the community but it sounds bogus.
Anyways i attached my chat with their customer service person. I redline his name because he is just following policy and didnt want to hurt his reputation.

I'm having issues with my cable and internet service. The number they post for customer service: 643-6111: the phone gets picked up by the automated voice recording, but if you select you need assistance NO ONE ANSWERS. Yes, you get to listen to music, but then after 20 minutes, the music goes silent. I tried this several times, same thing. Never got hold of anyone. Finally contacted the guy who did my install (bless his heart for giving me a contact #) and he said on the weekends they are short handed. HO! When can most folks call in to report problems.... YES! weekends! A request to Hawaiian Telcom: ADD STAFF and provide your customers with the service you promise and they deserve. Thanks!

As with all "monopoly" companies, they just don't care. Takes forever to schedule an appointment, and then they give you a 9 hour window for when the tech arrives, REALLY? Now, of course, for the more competitive products like TV, they give you a smaller window. What a joke. How do I give zero stars?

Just moved into a new building they don't take Spectrum so I couldn't transfer my service I have called Hawaiian Telcom three different times and I've been priced three different quotes by three different customer service agent for the exact same package it took him 20 minutes to come back to me and then when I mention something he said no I wasn't 20 minutes I told him I've been looking at the clock he was very argumentative his name was Colin very rude unhelpful he should do something other than customer service
our building is contracted with them and I'm going to go home and I'm going to ask if that can be changed their customer service is horrible or maybe it was just him I don't know but giving me three different prices for the same thing seems a little skeptical to me I gave it one star because I had to in order to put my grumble

I've always had great customer service whenever I called customer service, repair or went to their store. Everyone that answered my phone calls were always polite, helpful and friendly. Very efficient. If I needed someone to come to my house to check something they always scheduled an appointment for me and the repairman called me when he was on the way to my house. The repairman was always polite and friendly. Thank you Hawaiian Telcom for providing excellent service.

Hawaiian Telcom's cable service is junk. If i could give no stars i would. It keeps losing signal. And goes in and out. Comes on for one second and then the signal is lost again. I unplugged and plugged the box back in. And nothing. This has been happening alot lately. I called and no one answers then phone to talk to me. Wish we didn't switch over.

Cons: TERRIBLE. CUSTOMER. SERVICE.
The woman who was helping me spoke to me the entire time with a horrible attitude and condescending voice. I ve only had this service for 3 months, I m not completely familiar with their billing invoice format. When I had a difficult time finding information she laughed and spoke down to me. As a paying customer I didn t feel I should be treated that way. When I asked to be transferred she told me no call back. Really Hawaiian telecom?! She even HUNG UP on me. I couldn t believe she hung up, it was the most ridiculous thing. Shame on Hawaiian telecom for having such terrible phone assistance for customers. I would rather pay more elsewhere and be treated professionally.

Overall: If you like to be treated poorly then Hawaiian telecom is the right provider for you.

I made an appointment multiple weeks in advance to set up bew service when I moved. Two days before my move they called to confirm my appointment. An hour after my scheduled window I called customer service and asked where they were. They looked up my ticket and found they had failed to pass it to a local provider. They also incidentially turned it off in my old unit (12 hours before I moved) and didn t tell me. When I inquired when they were going to come they could not promise me when, nor could they even gaurntee my previous service would be turned back on. I have spent more than an hour on hold at various times. I have been trying to contact a supervisor who of course, never called me back (1 hr after my initial phone call). This is hands down the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. If my building had spectrum I would use them! This is a 0 star orginization who cannot manage their own affairs then when their mistakes happen they are unable to correct them! DO NOT USE HAWAIIAN TELCOM!!!!

I ve had nothing but issues with service for the past year I ve been with these guys. Spent hours of my life on the phone resetting boxes, having failed services, and waiting on things to reboot. Today my service went out at 3pm. Spent an hour on the phone trouble shooting only to figure out one if the main boxes is failing. I work from home and need internet to do my job. They would not send a technician out this late in the day because all their workers are finishing their last jobs of the day . Instead of letting one of them work overtime to come fix my issue they are making me wait until tomorrow. I asked for someone to come first thing in the morning and they can t even offer me a time slot. Simply said it s an all day appointment and I must be home all day to wait for them but hopefully we can get someone out there by noon . Hopefully?! Yeah let s hope I don t loose thousands of dollars in business not being able to do my job. Absolutely unacceptable and terrible customer service. Needless to say I ll be cancelling my service with this poorly ran company.

I canceled my service over 1 month ago, but still got charged for the service. Tried to call for assistance, but the wait time on the phone was hour, after 45mn, I couldn t wait any longer & hang up. As you can see, the service is horrible. When you have any questions regarding your bill, you call the service #, the answer machine asks answer 20 questions & then make you wait 1 hour on the phone, if you have time & are patient to wait on the phone that long. I called couple times in the past for some other issues & the staff reluctantly answered my questions with I don t care attitude .
At the end , I had to make a trip to their office in Kapolei in person to dispute.

There is no customer service. I called last night and left my name and number for a call back. I called today at 8 am and had to leave my name and number for a call back...wait time would be 20 minutes. I called 1-1/2 hours later and left another call back request. 20 minute wait. 1/2 hour later I called and left another call back request. Another 20 minutes. I called 45 minutes later and was told I would get a call back in 5 minutes. That was about noon. It is now 6:45pm and I am still waiting for a call back. What is your problem Hawaiian Telcom?!?

Paying for 10 Mbps only getting 2 Mbps. After calling and waiting 38 minutes was given the its on your end try restarting your modem etc. Being a Electronic Technician and playing along following there steps first and nothing working figured its best just to switch to someone who knows what they are talking about and how to fix a problem, not blame there customers.

Absolutely rubbish company. Been on hold for over an hour and 30 minutes. Have been waiting on a call back for over 2 weeks. Its only a matter of time until thos company disappears and Spectrum takes over all their business. I cannot recount another time im my life where I have had such a disgusting experience with a company. Incompetent and outdated, take your business elsewhere.

If you can, than by all means avoid this company at all cost. Go with spectrum I'm telling you it's not worth whatever deal you think you might be getting. TV service keeps freezing, internet service is ok if you have your own Wi-Fi router or your going to have to rent one of their WiFi extender just so you can get decent WiFi speed and customer service seems good because the staff are friendly but don't ever seem to be able actually help you or accomplish properly anything, even something as simple as scheduling an appointment for the right time slot. If you value your time and want a service that works from day one without hassle go with Spectrum. Don't forget your were warned.

Only got the 15 Mbps first, works great, hardly any issues, especially for the price. It is way cheaper than Oceanic and no contract. I called to change my service today, due to moving, and Brandy was very helpful, friendly, and professional. Not sure why there are so many poor ratings; maybe I'm just lucky. Great job!

I switched over from oceanic cable, and have been pleased so far with my service. The 3 techs who came out were awesome, to me calling with 21 question and them helping me with my concerns. I'm not saying everything
is perfect but so far so good .

The commercial with "local man" and the haole man across the hedge is terrible. I think it is insulting to our culture in Hawaii. Why is the haole man in color and the "local man" in black and white? I think it depicts stereotypes which is insulting to us. The haole man has, and the other man does not have . . . please take it off the are!

Terrible customer service!! I went to return internet device to this location, and there was old lady who looks like 90 years old(white female with dark skin) working there. She was so rude!!! She accused us of not returning a device which we never rented from the company!! Yelling me to bring it back!! We kept explaining that we didn't rent it from beginning, but she didn't listen to us. Other lady came in and looked at their system and figured out that we didn't rent it from beginning. The old lady needs to retire!!!!! She was #@$*#!!!!

This company has given me great internet service. Their website is a little wonky.. but I've never had any problem with their customer service or my internet.

They are a better deal than Oceanic.. it really surprises me there are so many poor reviews.

I'm not even customer with Hawaiian Telcom and I already experienced BAD customer service without even speaking to someone there. And what I mean by that is that I have been waiting on the phone to speak to someone so I can purchase their service. I have waited 45 MINUTES and still NO ONE ANSWERS! so I'm done! TOO BAD SO SAD HAWAIIAN TELCOM YOU JUST LOST A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER! Haha. ZERO stars if I could.
