I applied for an apartment in a new 55+ FPI project located in Englewood, CO. At that time, I was residing in New Mexico and was unable to handle the application process in person so it took nearly two months to finally receive their approval so I could schedule my move. This was by far the most convoluted application process I have ever experienced and I have rented apartments in several cities and have applied for and been approved for 2 VA mortgages, nothing compares to FPI s application process.
I moved in at the end of December, 2016 while the building was still under construction. Immediately, I was able to see the lack of quality control and how cheap everything was. There was paint splattered on all the laminate floors, stains on the carpet and there were disgusting stains on the bottom of the toilet seat, all of which were reported to my contact person there. Keep in mind; I was the first occupant of this apartment. My monthly rent for my 2 bedroom apartment was $1,010 and it did include utilities.
My coffee maker tripped the circuit breaker at least once a week (I have owned this coffee maker for several years and lived in 2 different homes since this one and that has not happened). At one point, I worked for an appliance repair company so I am familiar with quality all the appliances are bottom of the line junk. There is no sprayer for the kitchen sink and no garbage disposal. These are just a handful of issues.
This building attracts alcoholics, drug addicts and drug dealers, a few of the residents were molested by other residents. Homeless people are invited in by residents and once, a group of teenagers gained access to the theater room and were caught watching movies at 2:30 AM. I was threatened by a resident while walking my dog alongside the building and another resident made a nasty remark about my dog. With few exceptions, the residents are horrible. I feared for my safety. There was a constant stream of police called to the building, at least twice a week; I witnessed police cars in the entrance driveway.
Fortunately for me, I was able to move last month (September, 2017). I broke my lease, however, I was told that there is a waiting list for 2 bedroom apartments and my apartment would be leased this month (October, 2017). My final walk through occurred on 9/25/17 and I was told that I would have to pay for the carpet cleaning. This really upset me since the stains were reported within a couple of days of my moving in and I paid a $300 nonrefundable pet deposit. I called this past week to find out the status of my security deposit and if my apartment had been rented, I am still awaiting a response.
There was constant turnover of staff and a lot of drama. The person who was helping me rent my apartment quit last week.
The only positive remarks I can post are: 1) the location is very convenient, even though there is free underground parking; I was able to walk just about everywhere and 2) the maintenance requests were handled in a timely manner.
I would not recommend this place to anyone and judging by the FPI reviews posted on several websites, I am not the only who feels this way.
