I just bought an S60 Cross Country from Smythe. I had a great experience. Bob Cerza was patient and down to earth. It made the whole experience very pleasant. The service department was also very professional and friendly.

Simple. Clear. Honest. I leased a beautiful new 2018 Volvo S90 T6 through Eric Kulawczyk in October 2017. All details were agreed upon by phone. When I arrived, the car was clean and ready to go. Eric took his time to go over all the features and answer all of my questions. When it came time to sign paperwork, there were ZERO surprises. This is rare in the auto sales industry. Every dollar was exactly as agreed upon. I highly recommend Smythe Volvo and Eric Kulawczyk.

I bought my first new car in 19 years and decided to go with a Volvo after driving Toyotas for over 30 years. I fell in love with the XC40 and ordered it, knowing it would be a 3 month wait. The car came in right when expected. My salesperson, Deborah Amster, was warm, professional, caring, and accessible. She answered all my questions and always followed up on any outstanding questions. The financial rep, Kevin Bergeron, was great as well. He locked us into an excellent rate for the loan. Picking up the car was also a great experience. In the past, picking up a new car has always been painful and slow--taking as much as 3 hours. Volvo was a completely different experience. I am so happy with my new Volvo!

From the moment my wife and I walked in with our 2 year old we felt welcome and not at all "in the cross hairs" like you may feel at other dealerships. Deborah (our sales person) quickly found out what was important to us and highlighted those features in their vehicles. No pushy tactics. Transparent and honest. Tom (sales manager) and Kevin (business manager) were also above and beyond accommodating to make a great deal happen.

10k Service - Easy as Pie!

I delivered my 2018 Volvo V60 to Smythe for my 10,000 mile service. After delivering my vehicle I went for breakfast, and by the time I came back my service was complete and my car was washed, without me asking. My long-time service adviser, Doug MacAdam, handled this transaction seamlessly, like always. My family currently has three Smythe Volvos, and we service each of them with Doug. Thank you!

The salesperson was fantastic (Pablo), he made the whole process very easy. Loved the fact there was no hard sell. He went the extra mile and even picked me up to get the car as I did not have a ride to the showroom. The Customer Service was extraordinary.

Always get my car serviced at Smythe, all of the advisor are great, service professionals do awesome work, very honest and fair priced. We have had several Volvo cars, including the XC90 hybrid. It is one of the few dealerships that service the electrical system of the hybrid cars.

The first experience with this dealership started alright. However, in the days subsequent to the first contact something odd happened. The sales person hang up the phone on my face, just because he didn t like my offer. Such behavior is disrespectful and unprofessional. Definitely not my car dealership.

On Thursday January 31, I called your dealership in a panic. We had purchased a Volvo last year (we love it), but had a problem opening the trunk.
I believe I had groceries that somehow were leaning up against the mechanism and interfering with the trunk opening.
I had an urgent meeting the next afternoon, and needed my laptop (which was locked in the trunk).

I was connected to one of your sales man (Steve, sorry, I do not have his last name) who was just wonderful.
He tried to walk my husband through a few steps, but when that failed, he set up a service call for first thing in the morning, A few moments later, he called again with another possible solution and it worked.

I want to let you know how service like this just fosters our loyalty to your dealership.

Story of redemption!

Made an appointment to see a vehicle and test drive it. informed them that we are driving in from Brooklyn NY. Arrived at appropriate time had me fill out test drive info sheet and sit with Rep only then to tell me that they no longer had that vehicle. as of this morning I also called this morning to confirm my appointment and was not told anything.

Update: later this evening I got a call from Smythe, Mr R. He Was very polite and apologetic for what occurred. He did ask what I was looking for and would call me back in a few days about a possible other vehicle. Whichever way it turns out I do appreciate the call.

Update 2: we worked with Robert and Jesus and were able to get a deal on a 2017 Volvo S60. Jesus was very informative and helpful through out the process and worked with us every part of the way. Was very happy with how our first situation was handled and resolved. Thank you for helping us along and getting a reliable family car.

The service advisors and technicians are top notch here. I would drive to a further dealership if I didn't feel that way, but my 7+ experiences have all been resolved beyond my expectations. Dennis, Dina, and Regina were all so helpful and clear with any technical explanations related to service decisions. In my most recent service, I used the complimentary valet service (pickup/dropoff from home) which was so convenient. I tend to ask a lot of questions and Dennis Jeffers is straightforward and clear with answering my specific questions to enable me to make informed decisions on services I need or don't based on my priorities. I can t say enough about the level of service we received from our sales person William McLaughlin at Smythe Volvo. I ve always heard that Smythe Volvo had an excellent reputation, and I got to experience it first hand. I had a particular pre-owned car in mind when I went there, and my salesman, Bob Cerza, showed it to me. He walked me through the whole car, taking his time to detail each feature. He was very kind and courteous. When I decided it was the one, the sales process was quick and smooth. When I picked up the car, Bob once again explained each feature in detail. I love my car, Volvo always speaks for its name, and now I can say Smythe does also!

I recently leased a new Volvo XC60 from Bob at Smythe Volvo. Bob spent time with me on the phone as we tried to cherry pick the perfect XC60. After that my wife and I drove for an hour (it was worth it) to meet with him at the dealership. The car was ready to be test driven and Bob worked hard getting my payment to where it needed to be. Shaun took us from there and went over all the lease numbers. Energetic, helpful, and transparent, Shaun answered all my questions in perfect detail. When we were all done Bob wouldn't even let us leave without going over the car's functions, which showed that he really cared.

I have not had this great of an experience at a dealership in a very long time.

I can't even imagine such dealership that revolves around customer service, even exists. From the second that I placed my on-line inquiry to the second my vehicle was delivered to my house... Yes I said delivered to my house... Has been nothing but a great pleasure. Since the second that Barry Chaskes responded to my inquiry till he handed me the keys to my car was simply amazing. No dealership ever offers to drop off your vehicle at home.. Not even when they are less than 3 miles away, yet Barry offered to drop of my car, 30 miles away, from the dealership, to my house. And that's not even it... He even gave me the best price on the vehicle and had the finance manager knock off a few more on some other options I wanted. If you are looking for a Volvo... Smythe Volvo is where your search should start and finish.

I dropped my car off for a quick service repair. As usual it was very clean and welcoming The service agent offered me the opportunity to go to the waiting room and have coffee even though it was a short turn around. Very pleasant experience.

Although my wife and I were quite disappointed that our brand new Volvo C-70 (less than 2600 miles) went dead and needed service, bringing it to Smythe Volvo turned out be a rewarding and excelent experience. After the car died again just one day after Volvo On Call boosted and charged the battery, we knew it was something that needed attention. I immmediatly called Smythe Volvo and spoke with Sean Flanagan (Friday afternoon) regarding the possibility of bringing the car in early Saturday morning (the next day!). He gladly said he could squeeze me in and expressed his sadness and concern over the problem we were experiencing. I explained to him that we would contact Volvo On Call early Saturday morning and, once they had it running, I would drive it over (luckily, they are only 10 minutes away from my home).

Volvo On Call arrived at my home a little after 8 a.m. and jump started the car. We agreed to leave it running for a few minutes before I drove it over. I drove to Smythe (completely uneventful) and it was riding very nice. Sean was only too happy to take the car in and attend to it almost immediately, apologizing once again. I waited in the customer's lounge while it was serviced and, in a short while, Sean said it was ready. He explained the problems and said Smythe was able to rewrite the software in the computer so this particular problem would not happen again. He also put in a brand new battery, since the old one had been discharged twice.

At this time, Steve Sargent, my original salesperson, came over to inquire about the car (and me). We chatted for a while and he could not have been nicer nor more concerned.

It should really be kept in mind that Smythe Volvo seems to be a small family and the people who lease or purchase their vehicles from them are treated as if they belong to that family. Friendliness, professionalism, courteousness are just a few of the adjectives that come to mind. They really do care about their product and the people who buy it. It just goes hand in hand with the dealership.

Kyle Jackson is an exceptional sales person who took his time and addressed all of my questions and needs. The service is simply outstanding.

Showed a car on Cargurus that they didn't even have, Lupita told me before I made my appointment that it was on the lot I made my appointment and made me drive an hour away for no reason showing me a complete different car that it said it has the upgraded premium sound system thats worth over 3k and when I went to see the car they told me the picture company they used mixed up the pictures between cars and that the car is not available....and they would not even work with me on the price on the car that I test drived that supposedly had all the premium package but everything was just a nightmare...

I dread car stuff. Sales, repairs, routine service, everything. Thankful to say that this is no longer the case thanks to Smythe Volvo! They do a phenomenal job in all aspects of their business; my family never feel anything but warm fuzzy feelings both pulling in and pulling out of the shop. Smythe Volvo made it easy for me to do business with them. I had a great experience and their service department is extremely helpful. Walked into the dealership, interested to see their electric vehicles. Walked past the receptionist, head down didn t acknowledge me. Proceeded to look at the entire collection within the showroom- was not even acknowledged. Perhaps this dealership is too busy to acknowledge potential customers.

I worked with William to purchase my CPO S60 and he was great. He told us everything he knew about the car (and history) and answered any questions we had. He was able to get us an awesome deal. We were very happy to leave with the car we wanted.

They are very expensive as compared to other Volvo dealers. Also their customer service is not lacking. I used Prestige Volvo in east hanover and they were great.

Tom Nolfi was very helpful, prompt and courteous. I enjoyed working with him. I love my Volvo. I would go back to Smythe to buy another Volvo!

It was my lucky day when Deborah at Smythe Volvo answered my phone call inquiring about a certain vehicle for sale! I did not get the vehicle i called about because i saw my dream car on the 2nd floor salesroom. She quickly got that car down to the main floor so i could see it outside. I purchased my first car, and my first Volvo with Smythe Volvo. Matt, was great, he was extremely knowledgable, and fun. He took his time with my family, and I. He answered every question, every concern, and helped me pick out an amazing vehicle. I am in love with my XC90. He made the process easy, and seamless. He did everything that he agreed to, even down to presenting my car a bow, and a note referring to a joke we made during my shopping experience. The customer service was great all the way around.

After having a less than positive experience with a nearby Volvo dealer, where I felt like my wife and I were barely acknowledged at times, I began looking for an alternative dealership to work with. Seeing all of the great reviews for Smythe I decided to give them a try and I'm glad that I did. I called and was set up with an appointment with Chris Henriksen. Chris was great to work with. I came in looking for an XC90 with a specific set of features, while Smythe did not have this on hand, they had a similar but fully loaded model on site. Chris worked with me on the price to get me closer to what I originally had in mind, and we were able to come to an agreement on the model on hand. Chris was professional and courteous throughout the entire process and did not push or hurry me to make a decision. I also worked with Ashley when I came back to sign and she was also great. Very easy to work with and explained each part of the process. I would definitely come back to Smythe for any future Volvo purchases, and plan on having my car serviced here, even if it's a little bit more out of the way.

I am now on my third lease of the XC90. My first two leases were with Kundert Volvo in which I used their Service Department up until I moved closer to Prestige. Although I was not thrilled with Kundert, I found Prestige to be a far worse Service Department. So very unprofessional! Almost to the point where I was not going to get another XC90 even though I LOVE the look of this vehicle. FORTUNATLY, I decided to give Smythe a try and was lucky enough to have worked with Deborah Amster. She was AMAZING! I have had a few trips to the Service Dept. and they are always accommodating. I recently had a wonderful experience, I can't even believe I am saying this, due to past experiences with other Volvo Dealers Service Depts, but it truly was an awesome experience thanks to Regina and Brandon. They really went above and beyond for me and it is much appreciated. Thanks SMYTHE for not dropping the ball the day I signed my Lease as the other dealer did in the past!

Just drove home my newly leased 2015 XC60...the 3rd car I have either bought of leased from Smythe (my husband purchased his used Volvo 960 there two years ago). As always it was an excellent experience! Both Kristian and Alex are professional, extremely knowledgeable, courteous, caring, friendly, very pleasant and they made the entire leasing process seamless. I had extended my previous lease because Volvo was supposed to come out with a new engine for the XC60 but this was delayed beyond the allowed lease extension time-table. The lease extension process was tedious but Kristian was with me throughout the process assisting me however I needed. Although I was disappointed that Volvo (the company) made this decision to delay the new XC60 engine, Kristian went out of his way to assist me in getting a new car and the lease extension and he worked with me to bring the monthly new lease cost to within my guidelines. Whenever I had a question or concern, Kristian immediately responded with answers. When I picked up the car, Kritian patiently and professionally sat with me and helped set up my phone, Bluetooth, went step-by-step through the Navigation module and I know if I have any further questions all I have to do is text and he will answer every one with a smile.
Actually, everyone at Smythe Volvo goes out of their way to make sure all issues are dealt with promptly and resolved. During my lease-extension period with my 2013 XC60, I had a minor fender bender and needed it repaired quickly before my extension expired. Tony got me an overnight appointment in service and Doug went above and beyond by arranging an immediate appointment at the body shop so that the repair could be promptly done before the lease extension expired. I could not have asked for or received better service.
I have never had a bad experience at Smythe and I will be purchasing (or leasing) all my future cars from Kristian and Smythe Volvo. Now that I have my new car, the only down-side is that I will not be visiting Smythe very often and I will miss that because I feel like they are all my friends and everyone there makes you feel that you are the most important customer they have!! You can't ask for more than that.

There I was with the message telling me I had a pediddle and an open window for getting the headlight replaced. Tim got me in--and out within an hour. Thanks!
For those not familiar with Jersey slang from the 50's: : Wikkie says "Padiddle, alternatively spelled pediddle, perdiddle and kadiddle, also known as Popeye due to it looking like one eye is out or squinting, is a Canadian and American slang term for a vehicle with a burnt-out headlight or brake light. Fog lights do not count as a padiddle even if used as primary lights. There is no such thing as a double padiddle. It is also the name of a nighttime travel game involving spotting such vehicles.[1][2] Cars with only one illuminated tail light are called pidadle in some areas of the country."

I went to purchase a certified preowned Volvo from Smythe Volvo. I was told by the salespeople that there was no damage on the vehicle but when I arrived I noticed there was damage on the seats. After notifying management they promptly fixed the seats and in addition they gave me a discount for the inconvenience. They delivered the car to my home to save me a trip to the dealership again to sign the paperwork. The repair was perfect. The car looks like new. I'm very satisfied with my salesperson Patrick Ruane and the manager Robert Steiman. They really stepped up to resolve my issue in a timely and professional manner. I would certainly do business with them again.

We visited Smythe Volvo a few times when looking for a car for a new driver in the family. Bob was our salesman and he really helped us through the process. I had two recent service appointments at Smythe Volvo. One was routine maintenance and the other was to check why the low tire pressure message was on after putting air in my tires. The second appointment involved replacing a front passenger side tire. Both Regina Krauza and Michael Watson were more than helpful and persistent in making sure that this repair was not only completed in a timely manner but that service warranties and additional service contracts were applied to the cost of the repair. It is this attention to detail and responsiveness to a client s inquiries that puts Smythe Volvo and these two individuals specifically, a cut above the rest.

Overall experience is satisfying. They are very professional. I think it is a good dealership. Would recommend to my friends.

I have purchased many vehicles in my life and this was one of the greatest experiences I have had. From the moment I walked in I could sense that this was not your typical car dealer. We had a great experience with Sam at Smythe Volvo as first-time car leasers. No stereotypical car salesmen here. He worked hard to get us the car we wanted at a great deal in a very short amount of time. Would highly recommend -- I didn't think leasing a car could be easy, but this definitely was.

On Friday, May 3rd, my Volvo S80 needed servicing for a small thing. Doug MacAdams made the appointment for the car the day before and early Friday morning, on May 3rd, I brought the car in and the repair was made in less than an half-hour. Smythe Volvo dealership is customer- friendly, does things in a timely fashion and the repair that was made was done in an efficient manner. The 2010 S80 is the best car I have ever owned and the dealership is 5-Star. Employee Doug MacAdams represents the dealership very well. I am sure he is a valued employee.

I have to say this has been the best car buying experience for me. I went to Smythe Volvo looking to purchase my first ever Volvo so I had tons of questions regarding the different vehicles. I was extremely grateful I got the opportunity to work with Eric K. He had all the information I needed regarding the vehicles and was able to answer my many questions. I explained I was used to driving an Audi Q5 and he suggested an XC 60 for me as it is similar in size and had all of the features I wanted and needed. I just wanted to share a truly great experience I had at Smythe Volvo this week. I found a car online that was a new arrival at this dealership. I called from out of state and was fortunate enough to connect with Eric Kulawczyk from the sales department. Eric was super helpful in relaying back everything that I wanted to know about the car. He even went the extra mile and took a video from his phone while walking around the car and emailed it to me so I could see exactly what it looked like. I must have watched that video 20 times! As far as the price, it was fair.... and the relaxed atmosphere and simple to do business with approach made me a very satisfied customer. I will gladly make the 2 hour drive back to Smythe again when my wife or in-laws are ready for a new car. Do yourself a favor and check out Smythe.

Smythe Volvo is absolutely the best Volvo dealership in the North Jersey area that I've been to. The Service department is such an absolute pleasure to deal with. The staff is friendly, courteous, understanding and go above and beyond to make sure that I am happy with the service and ensure my vehicle is back to the way it should be. Dina Thomson is my usual Service Advisor and she is fantastic. She listens to everything, understands the issues going on with my car and ensures that my vehicle is taken care of at the highest level. She is absolutely amazing and goes the extra mile for her customers each and every day. I can't thank her enough for all of her help and all of the things she has done to help me with my vehicle. In addition, Dennis and Regina in the Service Department are helpful as well and have in a time crunch have made accommodations to be sure to fit my car in for service before a trip or a vacation. This is what excellent service looks like day and day out. Every time I visit, my service expectations are always exceeded and the level of service is unlike any Volvo dealer I have been too.

Dinah in customer service is amazing. Really takes care of each customer as of it were her own proverbial family. Truly refreshing to see this kind of care.

I am from Virginia and located a Toyota Sequoia Platinum at the Smythe Volvo dealership's used vehicles. I worked with Steve Badian in sales over the phone and through email. I found him to be courteous and prompt with his follow up. I required a lot of detail due to my location and Steve provided all the information to me so I could make a buying decision while in VA. I drove up and purchased the car. I towed it back to VA. Once back home I realized that the cruise control did not function. I took it to my Toyota dealership locally and they let me know that it would require nearly $2000.00 dollars to repair. I was waiting for my virginia tags as well so when Steve called to let me know the status of the tags I shared the news on the cruise control. While he wasn't able to ensure that they would do something about the repair he assured me that he would advocate for me. I frankly figured that distance was on the side of the dealership and they would just let it go. Much to my surprise and amazement, Robert Steinman, the Pre-Owned Manager contacted me. The owner agreed to buy the part and ship it to me for installation. They even reimbursed me for my charge to diagnose the trouble with my local Toyota dealership. I simply paid to have the part installed which I felt was very reasonable.

I have owed 3 Volvo's in the past. While this wasn't a Volvo purchase I think that the follow up and integrity of the dealership should be noted. I would buy a vehicle from them again anytime.

Smythe Volvo Is the BEST! My company has been dealing with them for YEARS! Dennis is by far the best service manager we have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Always gets us in and takes care of us when we have an issue or question. Quick and easy! The guys in the parts department Roger and Scott are the best, most knowledgeable parts guys we have ever used. They always get us what we need without any issues. Mike the parts delivery driver is unreal. Always works hard to get us what we need when we need it. Whether its pick ups, drop offs, even if we forgot something he runs back and grabs it for us. He has the best attitude and is always laughing and smiling when he comes in the door. Smythe Volvo always provides the most wonderful service. Do not hesitate to use them for any of your service or purchasing needs!

This was our first time buying a car and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. From start to finish it was very well handled by the team. Shout out to Sam, he was very patient and guided us to the right model and did all the things he could to get us a very good deal. They followed all protocols needed for safety ( in these troubled times). Social distancing, masks clean setup etc. He also followed up after the purchase to make sure things are going smoothly and got all the necessary things done without me following up so big thumbs up.

Incidentally this was our visit to any Volvo dealership, we came in to do some test drives but liked the car so much we got it. Sam helped us hold the car for week as we were not prepared to get it right away.We will definitely be recommending them to everyone i know. And i am sure we will come back soon for an upgrade when our lease gets over.

After searching around for estimates to get some major engine work done on our XC70, I got to Smyth.
I found myself speaking to Tom Coward. Not only did Tom have the best price from the start, he explained to me all of the variables that might effect the price. Still the lowest, we brought the car in.
Later that day, Tom called and told me of some related issues. Here we go, I thought. Being an hour away, and the price better than looking for another car, I told him to go ahead.

Expecting the worst, we went to pick up the car the next day.
Not only was the work complete and the car ready when I was told, but Tom explained that what they had seen as an issue wasn't so bad. The price was quite a bit less than the estimate given.

Amazing, friendly, and competent service. I would recommend to anyone.

I recently worked with Eric Kulawczyk at Smythe Volvo and had an excellent experience. Between work and two small children, finding the time to spend at a car dealership is nearly impossible. Eric understood this and was quick and to the point. He was able to answer all my questions, get me the best deal on my new XC90, and got me out the door and on my way in no time, which is not common with car dealerships. The process was painless and everything was very clear, no games, no BS - which I've gotten all too often before from high end dealerships trying to take advantage of a deal. I came in to purchase a preowned Volvo that I saw on the website. My sales consultant, Alon, was super helpful as well as friendly and genuine. It was an easy transaction and my fastest car buying experience to date.
