The WORST. I moved out of my apartment on August 1...

The WORST. I moved out of my apartment on August 16th. My apartment complex confirmed someone moved in on August 17th and began water service on the 18th. I received a surprise second bill of $56.00 (mind you this apartment has 1 bathroom). I called customer service, who was terribly rude and they called me a liar, when I made it very clear that I am moving out of this apartment on the 16th.

Update:
I received a second bill, in the amount of $96. After I had paid the $56 because I didn't want this going in collections and they were refusing to refund my money. I received a second bill of $96!!! I called and e-mailed several times. The told me to just pay the $96 and they would refund the money after pulling the calls. I received a call a week later stating that they are not refunding the $96 or $56 that I paid, despite having called to turn off service prior to moving, to avoid this going into collections. I was only in this apartment for 3 months and ended up paying 5 bills. This place needs to be shut down. Since we moved to Cameron, into a 4 bedroom 4 bathroom house, our water bill is actually less and we have not had any issues with our current company. I have reported this company to the BBB. I am glad to never have to deal with these people again.

1st month of service and charged $151.00 for first month and $50- some for 2nd month. When asking why/how the first month was so high, the person on phone could not answer. After pressing she asked "have you had excessive use?" I said "ma'am it was first month - how would I know what excessive is by the looks of this month it's not matching and we were out of town for 12 days as well? "
took her 5 minutes to come back on and say "yes that was the first month" I said "I know we already said that... now can you tell me why the bill was $151.00? She clicked around for 3 minutes and then placed me on hold. I'm still on hold now. It's been 8 minutes on hold. Came back and said she doesn't know the answer for why. And they can send someone to read a meter but that won't tell me anything really. This happened at our last address with PWC. $756 bill. They said their must have been a leak. Leak never found. Something illegal happening with this company. Monopolys should be illegal

Worst customer service in the industry. Only 2 ways to pay without having to pay a hefty convenience fee (via a secure pdf, or writing a check - anything else is going to cost you). Bill due dates change every month (just a ruse to get people confused), and if you're late because of that confusion, tack on another 5 percent fee.

Associate laughs and agrees with me so I buy the unit installed it in 1 hour sent my rebate application to try and save some money during a economic collapse. I was just told. I was just given a bill for 993.10 without notice. They said I owed 5,000 for sewer line that I would have pay extra money to even connect to. This makes people not want to invest in Fayetteville. I m sure there was a better way to sue this rather than involuntarily putting a lien on someone s house and giving them a $5,000 Unwanted Loan at 7% interest for a service they did not ask for.

This was a unsatisfactory solution for the customer.

I have the same story as everyone else - energy consumption stayed the same, or reduced, and my bill ended up being even higher. Also, their deposit is RIDICULOUS. My first bill was almost $550 - with the deposit being $385! (When I moved to a new area, the new utility company charged me $0 for a deposit and only $17 for a connection fee.) When I moved out of my old place, my final bill was MORE than the previous bill -- how is that possible when the billing cycle for the last bill was only 22 days (3 of which didn't even have usage, bc I had already moved out) but the previous billing cycle was 32 days. How did I pay more money for a cycle that has 10-13 less days than the other? This makes no sense. We basically lived like cave people with no lights on the majority of the time to save on the bill, while also freezing and shivering to avoid putting on the heat - yet the bill was still high. Oh - and it gets better. The customer service rep told me VIA EMAIL that they owed me a refund - then when I followed up to see why I had not received my refund yet, they told me that they made a mistake and I actually owed them that amount. This is literally all in an email - I cannot make this up. I even attached a photo (update - for some reason it won't show when I look back on the review, I hope you all can see it). I reported them to the Commission - but I doubt anything will be done.

Where to begin. $400 to even have the power turned on, ok that's fine because I have no choice. The highest bills I have ever seen always over $200 again that's fine because I have no choice. Over a year using them and I've never been late or missed a payment. I pay online one time, and i get a confirmation number. Bills payed right? No, with no warning, no email, no phone call the power is cut. Why? Because the payment didn't go through, apparently my fault also. It took 2 phone calls, which the first customer service guy was extremely rude and snarky making me feel like a low life and the second a female had absolutely no customer service skills, to get the power back on and no one could explain why when it's done remotely at the company. On top of all this there is a Late fee because they didn't except my payment. So excuse me PWC but you have have the worst customer service/service I have ever had the displeasure of using. To bad there isn't any other option!

Besides the obvious, the website is a nightmare and after their switch to digital meters I saw a dramatic spike in utilities costs. Also the fact that as much as $60 of the bill are comprised of fees alone -not even utilities- including some used to cover Duke Energy's fine for their coal ash spill is deplorable. And for all the money they're making they still can't afford a transaction fee. Good people work here, that much I know, but the people running the show don't seem to have the Public's interest in mind.

Overall, never had an issue with the actual service, for 4 years, and the price seemed fair. The major issue I had was with auto draft. They did not pull a payment and I called them to tell them of the error. Even before auto draft, I never missed a payment. I was forced to pay a late fee, even though they said it was their glitch. Thought that was incredibly unreasonable

Worst Company I am FORCED to use. If PWC had 2 competitors fighting for our business I guaranty they would not have a 1.6 star rating! They buying electricity from DEP and SEPA to sell to us. If section 8 and low income families would quit leaving PWC hanging, PWC wouldn't have to use (across the board regulation) on every situation. I am very confused. I called today to file a claim for food spoilage since I didn't have electricity for 4 days. My neighbor said there was a form to fill out. I called to get more info only to be told there is no such thing and that they don't even have a claims dpt. I informed the rep several times that my neighbor has paperwork with PWC on it and she continued to say that they were not covering food spoilage. I went on their website only to find the form and a phone number to their claims dpt. And there was absolutely no sympathy. I don't have hundreds of dollars to replace the food and pay my high electric bill which doesn't make sense when the only thing on during the day is the AC and refrigerator.

If I could give a zero I would. How in a mostly warm state do you rationalize these rates? 10 cents per kwh all year around??? And then you monopolize an entire community of low income residents and give them no other choice of utility company or even a supplier. This is a privately owned company giving the illusion they actually care about their customers' energy needs or societal standings. The only way to not pay a fee on top of your bill is to go to the office that closes at 530. Now, people who actually work a 9-5 and pay their bills without fuel assistance cannot make these hours. $3.50 to pay on the phone or online. $1 to pay at food lion. I guess I could write a check but the check costs money too. I'm disgusted with their business practices. There are some very kind and understanding agents , I give it a their employees for working for such a low grade establishment.

2019.... I recieved a bill $40 more than usual. Billing period June 13-July 15... freon was put in my a/c unit July 5th per my request to my apartments maintenance because the temperature just didnt feel cool at all. I do not have a digital thermostat to tell me whether or not the unit is running on AUX... PWC does not credit electric accounts, but they do water and sewage... I'm utterly convinced PWC's mission is to screw over as many low income and middle class families as possible. I have many more stories of my own and that I have heard from others about both electric and water/sewage services. This institution disgusts and sickens me.

There's a reason all the reviews are 1 star. pwc is not good.
$3.50 to pay your bills any other way but in person - I don't feel like driving 30 minutes to do that. And with my small apartment, $3.50 adds 3-4% to my bill every month.
Usually slow customer service often has no idea how to ask pertinent questions, often having to do a task over. I'm the customer. I don't know how to do your job.
I'm sure they have plenty of competent employees; not sure if I ever got to interact with one.
As far as I know no shady b.s. like my apartment complex, so pwc got an extra star.

So proud of this company! Considering that there are a tremendous amount of people without power and this hurricane has been hectic for everyone.....the PwC crew is doing a terrific job! They deserve a raise and acknowledgement for the work they are doing. They have been working nonstop with little to no sleep and they managed to get things up and running as quick as they can!!! Thank you PWC employees!!!!

Wish I could give zero stars. I m not able to add payment option online and I can t get past the high call volume message when I call. Horrible. Hoke County is better. You are able to see real time power usage on the online account.

Edit: Jusy got off the phone with Paula and she was a pleasure to deal with. She stayed on the phone with me to be sure my payment went through. She also informed me that PWC is suppose to launch real time usage services in May 2019. Thank you Paula.

Was overcharged to the tune of $550 dollars over the span of 3x months. After working with my appt complex to find any kind of leak, bill was still high. I live alone and don't own a washer and live pretty modestly but was being charged for upwards of 18,000 gallons of water a month. After complaining to PWC all possible maintenance courses of action were rectified and suggesting it may be a faulty meter, I was told PWC would charge me $85 to send someone to look at the meter. I fought back and long story short after taking video evidence of the meter jumping even with the water caught... the meter was replaced. PWC credited me $86 towards the $550 bill stating that was a "favor to me, not a necessity". This battle is ongoing and has required multiple hours in person and on the phone trying to argue my case. Not one time has this "professional" organization provided a follow up call as they repeatedly claim. Customer service is non existent and it seems they are aware I don't have much of an option for utility companies.

Worst company ever. Back in 2014 I moved and called pwc to have my services disconnected. I paid my remaining balance and they said everything would be turned off. 2016 I move back to Fayetteville and they tell me that I owe over $1,800 towards that previous residence. I had to pay a large deposit, plus the $1,800 just to get service at my new house. I am under the understanding that all customer service phone calls are recorded, but yet when I ask them to look up my service calls from that address they give me excuses. Clearly so they will not have to admit their mistake. Why in the hell would they let someone go that long without paying anyway? If I owe $300 for my business account and I'm 4 days late they disconnect me, but they let some leech in my old house go to $1,800 without a disconnection?...This makes no sense to me. Worst company ever.

Only reason I gave two stars is because the other representatives were helpful. However, all of them sound like they don't want to be bothered with you. Go find a new job then!

I dont recall the name of the woman I spoke to just now, but I was calling to see if I could still pay late without penalty. (They said they extended the no penaltys for another 60 days, I should get my 3yr 400 deposit back if I pay). I explained I am sick and cannot work for a while and after responding to her saying "feel better" I was still talking and she hung up on me. Honestly shameful behavior for a professional when the automated line said I was the only person in line waiting to be spoken to.... I wasn't going to tell her my whole life story she didn't even give me a chance to say thank you.

Bill went from 162 to 320 while maintaining the same routine of working all day and I'm not even home on the weekends. Called customer service and they said it wasn't their end, i was using more electricity. I said that's not true and i said i shouldn't have to pay 320 a month when I'm not even home but to sleep.

Don't know what happened, it used to be so easy to pay online. I have been trying to pay this month's bill for the last 5 days! I receive my bill by email each month and usually just click the link and pay it. Since the beginning of 2015, it has become increasingly harder to pay the bill, but I am usually able to pay online after 2 or 3 tries. I was hoping this was just one of those IT glitch kind of things, but I am guessing that 5 days later and trying from several devices that I am going to have to actually drive downtown - I'm definitely not paying for the "convenience" of paying them. PWC, you should grateful you have no competition or your utility would be abbreviated SOL!

I don t wanna give 5 stars just yet, but I had Sunny (I think that was her name.) just set up my service.
I didn t have to do a down payment.
She was very honest and nice with me, even went so far as giving me some advice for a buying a house, and some advice on ridding me of the flu I have right now.
I hope everything goes smoothly, and the reviews I m seeing aren t gonna make me regret this.

They are a big corporation getting rich off of the citizens who are at their mercy by robbing them. When I first moved here back in 2016 I was told my deposit would be 376.00 in 2018 I temporarily had the service shut off for approximately 5 weeks, when I went to restore service I was told I had to pay a deposit again for 376.00 when I went to make the payment they then told me my deposit was 675.00. I had no choice but to pay the amount they demanded. I live in a small two bed one bath cottage with only 3 occupants but my bill is usually 370.00 or greater a month. The highest was 550.00 with no changes to our usage. I have always made my payments on time for the last 3 years only being late once. My bill has always been due on the 3d of every month. On the second of Jan 2019 they charged me a late fee. I am disabled and don't get paid till the third and the power company is aware of this. Without warning they changed my due date to the second and applied the late fee. This is morally corrupt. In short the staff is uncooperative and dangerously corrupt.

Impossible to pay your bill unless it's in person by check, and impossible to enroll in online payment system. Their automated phone system gives no customer service option other than to leave a voice message that they claim they will respond to within 24 hours. It is ridiculous that they have such antiquated technology and customer service ideals.

I'm not exactly sure how this company is up and running. We moved from our rental and paid to have the water and electric shut off then turned on at the new property.... two days later the new house had electricity but no water. Now we needed to turn on the power at the old rental to finish the yard work.... 4 days later they charged us to only turn on the WATER. This is literally the worst company I have ever dealt with because they are so pricey and unreliable.

I'm tired of resetting my microwave and stove clock. How is it 2019 in the United States and I don't have reliable electricity? I pay way too much for this and there are no alternative . Don't even get me started on their solar policy. If I wanted to install solar panels, I would still be forcibly charged for the total amount of electricity used and then be paid a paltry amount for what I would produce. Talk about a disincentive to sustainable clean energy. They have a monopoly on electricity and they know it.

Update: 17July. The power is out again. It is the middle of the summer and I now have no AC. I have a dog and a baby son. How about you get your act together, PWC, and stop endangering your customers' lives.

Get a generator, even without bad weather your power will go out every so often. Its feels like it goes out every three months. However it went out in August, September, October and now today November 21 2019. I am so sick of it. I don't understand how and why it just keeps going out. They replace our meters last month and inform us that we have been undercharged for 2 years and are retroactively charging us $750. Actually they autodrafted that amount out without any warning. I told her that the apartment complex where I live had to change my thermostat due to it was not working right which made my bill almost doubled! Paying a LOT of money for a small apartment I am barely at, for the electricity to go out consistently. They won t do anything to compensate all they say is that they re working on it. Very unprofessional and don t care about their customers. I have an immune system deficiency and with the electricity going out consistently, my thermostat doesn t stay where it needs to be, causing it to be very cold in my apartment, which causes me to get very sick and uncomfortable in my own home.

Worst company I've worked with. I guess my water meter stopped working 9 months ago. Didn't receive a courtesy call, email or letter. But now wanting to charge me all at once. What gets me is they charged me 150.00 for only 5 months, but where are they getting this number if they dont know exactly how much the water consumption was. Customer support was a joke, explained this to the manager and she hung up on me. Going there direct to try and fix this issue. Don't use this company if you have a choice. I don't in this matter, so I am currently stuck with them, but save yourself the time and trouble.

I have been with PWC for water/sewer for almost two years. It has been easy and simple. Just spent three minutes or less to have my services turned off and it was painless. To do this i spoke with Heidi (mentioned as rude in other comments). She is a bit robotic but she was prompt and courteous. Thank you Heidi!

Where to start?! Prices? Way more than California. Last summer, it was 200-500$ per month?!!!!!??? I have a 2 bedroom apt.... how does that even make sense? Staff... Horrible. No matter how nice you are they hate when customers call. Power goes out all the time. Also I ve had my power shut off by them when I failed to pay by 5pm on Friday. So I went a whole weekend with out power. I was 1 day late!! Just 1! And my bill was only like 70$ that time!? You have to pay through a third party. They aren t allowed to take payments through phone so if third party isn t working.... no power for you lol. Sorry if that s petty or rant-y... it s kist the truth. Fayetteville PWC really needs some help. Maybe an intervention? Lol
**One time a lady did help me a bit... she was nicer (black) woman. Give her props, but everyone else at the location I call is purely sadistic.
