Horrible service! Booked through Expedia tried to check in early and told rooms would be there when we came back later; got back and they had sold off our rooms - then they gave us 2 rooms with luggage already in them and 1 with dirty towels. They laughed and said too bad not our problem take it up with Expedia.

Nasty, dirty, missing the 2nd floor. The great ice machine hunt. Oh my! Not a good experience

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. And the hotel was clean and neat.

Booked through an app and it was easy to book, but when I got to the hotel, there is a $103 key and damage deposit... Something that is on the site, but you have to search to find it... Wanted a refund but got the run around about it.... Just all around bad experience

Dated rooms but I loved the size of the bathroom however the water did not get hot. The views excellent

Older building with interesting old fashioned decor. Check in was slow. Tv remote was broken and I had bed bugs. They did try to make it right by switching my room right away and giving me extra time for check out im the morning which is only reason I gave a 3. However wont be staying again due to bed bug issue.

My family and myself check in to for the fireworks. Check took almost two hours due to the fact that where short staff and everyone room was incorrect. Rooms that people book where not ready, people that booked river rooms did not get them. They where people that where put into rooms and the air did not work. The manager would not show their face. The one young had the desk was not a people person and why you are talking to her she looks the other way and shakes her head. They did not try and compensate anyone just swiping cards.

I had a Brick wall for a view rm 106, no tv remote control when I asked for one the guy told me he couldn t do anything about it, My shower was Luke warm not hot, and they took my money with false allegations when asked for proof they were unable to do so also there is no corporate office assistance no type of upper management not even on business days. They keep giving you the run around!! DONT STAY HERE RUN

I typically DON'T leave bad reviews, but this has to be known.

Cons:
1. Room I was in had no working lock! I had to move all my belongs into my car before leaving my room every time.
2. Maintenance and room service was non existent! (how is this a 4 star?). Asked for an extra blanket, nothing happened.
3. Manager had a good attitude but none of the issues I had brought up were corrected, and I typically don't complain about things.
4. Night staff were not understanding and not accommodating regarding my lock issue. They said they will keep an eye on my room, as if they would be legally liable if my stuff was stolen...right....
5. Hotel was dirty, ice machine area had a lot of mold

Pros:
1. Free parking
2. Nice view of river if you care

Just pray to god your room is fine and you don't require much service other than a bed to sleep on.

Definitely not a 4 star and definitely not worth the price I paid. Better off doing AirBNB.

I was extremely unsatisfied, to the point where I couldn't even stay the night here and ended up booking a night at a different hotel in Detroit. The hotel was very dirty, smelt like weed and I didn't feel safe. There was also a beer can left on the stairs on the way up to my room. Gross.

Made my reservations 4 months in advance for a room with 2 double beds and when I got there, they couldn't locate my reservation and I ended up in a room with one King size bed (wasn't happy). No brochures in room informing of amenities. I knew nothing about the complimentary breakfast. The facilities were nice, but got hungry late evening and there were no vending machines. Really didn't want to go out to drive to find someplace to get a snack. Thought the bar would be open at least until 1A. I really expected more for the price I paid and don't plan on staying there again.

Absolutely beautiful hotel great location and views. But staff is a hot mess they don't communicate, and we're very inefficient. I specifically told the front desk that I was having a late night and would probably sleep in past the checkout time they assured me that this wasn't a problem. Come 11am I was bombarded with phone calls and knocks at the door. Finally a guy who claimed to be maintenance came to the door but it was clear that he was Strong Arm Security under the cover as maintenance. He knocked so hard and so aggressively that I thought it was the damn police, he then demanded that I open the door and then treated me like I was some sort of criminal when I did. All of this could have been avoided if the staff simply communicated with its other shifts. Not to mention when I got there to check in the room that I was supposed to go to they switched up on me without notifying me so I went to the wrong room when I got back from the casino. So after an inefficient check in that took nearly a half hour, when I got back from the casino I had to wait another half hour to get another room. This place is great but they really need to get their staff together, they seem understaffed and don't communicate well.

No air conditioning. Wanted us to sign a waiver to that. Only 1 person running the place. Appears to be an unsafe area of town. We didnt stay, cancelled our reservations.

The air conditioning was not working and was down for and extended period of time before my reservation. The hotel did not notify any guests about this problem until guest were checking in. My room did not get below 85 degrees all night which made for a very rough night. I have tried contacting the manager quite a few times and he/she always seems to be gone. Overall very poor service and communication.

Needs to decide whether it is a upscale Boutique hotel or rent a room by the hour dive. Love the views, hated the drug party two door down. Stoners and partiers took up all the safe parking areas. Has potential to be great.

I was scheduled to start out e night after an event, I had verified a late check in time. When I arrived the front clerk could not find my reservation and when I gave him my confirmation number he told me they can't find it that way only by name. The lobby had no air conditioning so I stood there sweating, in my dress for the night out, for thirty minutes. He finally got it squared away by calling his supervisor but then proceeded to verify the room he just assigned me had been cleaned by housekeeping...I just left so I wasn't late to my concert.

Pretty run down and at the end of a very sketchy road, feels like you are going through an apocalyptic time to get to the hotel. More potholes on that one road than in all of flint I think. Once in your room its nice enough just a bit older and things are falling apart but the rooms was clean. Television was fuzzy. Riverwalk right outside was pretty nice. All in all it was acceptable for the lower price point.

The parking lot and the walkway leading from the parking lot is has no street lights and is pitch black at night. I don't like not being able to see if someone is walking up behind me. It doesn't feel safe walking from the car....anyone could get kidnapped without being seen.

Room had not been cleaned. There was a ring around the bathtub, urine on the toilet seat, and the doors/ceilings in the room were falling apart. I could not even make myself sleep in the bed so within 10minutes we were checked out and went to the holiday inn on michigan ave. More expensive but worth it for a clean room. We're still waiting on our refund. Would not go back.

Dont go here kot only will they not have your room but they will make up false allegations and charge you for them weeks later and refuse to give your money back. Horrible customer service they are crooks.

When we arrived there was a long wait to check in (at least 8-10 ppl in front of us). I used that time to read all these reviews. A group in line had a problem and their rooms weren t available. They were really upset. That plus the reviews started getting me real nervous. However, the wait went pretty quick (30 mins or so, nothing to freak out over), the check in process was smooth and fast. The worker girls were understandably frustrated with certain people but polite and keeping it together. The room was huge and clean, no problems to report. No bed bugs, no trash, door locked no problem. It was really cool actually. I like old weird stuff so the sort of old lady gaudy grey gardens vibe was fine with me, as long as it was clean and safe and I had no problems I was down with it. They held $50 and it came back in 2 days. All in all either I got lucky or there s a lot of picky people out there. It s in a cool location, cheap uber to good spots. Give it a try if you re not too fussy.

Checked in for 3 days left after an hour. No heat in my room it was 53 degrees in that room. No TV and only 1 pillow and 1 blanket on the bed. I checked out immediately and demanded a refund I was told "corporate" would be able to give me a refund I was provided with no phone number to this "corporate office" only an email address. I sent many emails detailing my experience and I have had no response. I called my bank and disputed the charge worst hotel experience I've ever had. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, I am very disappointed the way the whole situation was literally not handled by anyone.

Scam alert! You will be charged an Incidental fee "that will drop off 3-5 business days" NOPE!! Wish I read the reviews before booking. Staff seen us freeze outside to smoke and decided to charge us that fee as well. No return calls from management for any disputes. Tried 2x. No fridge, no microwave...decore is outdated and not in good condition. No hot water as well. Website photos are deceiving, staff isn't helpful. No restaurant/inside bar open. Gave another credit card (due to booking on my debit) now have both cards on file and charged on the wrong one. So basically been re checking the entire week. So called $70 room cost $98 and after all that decided upfront charge for Incidentals $103 than false charge of smoking room cost about $350. Mind you built in 1873 holes in ceiling tiles and warped wall paper. Frustrated and robbed.

Quiet, Riverside hotel in Detroit. Wake up to the waterfront.

Negative 5 stars if were allowed...they rent "do not rent" rooms to guests. No ac. Destroyed furniature. Very dim lighting. Extremely unorganized. Oh and puke in the trash cans of "clean" rooms. Sketchy at best location. Armed police and security guards inside and outside hotel should speak volumes. Staff is very unaware of what other staff members are doing. No receipts when checking out. Any and all complaints go unnoticed in my opinions. Buyer and bookers beware. Do not be fooled by the pictures I promise...

They people that I interacted with were very friendly. However, the facilities and amenities need a lot of work, especially for the price.

Rooms and halls were hot because the AC was broken.

Opened the windows to cool off, but there were no screens. A bird got in my room and "made a mess".

Outlet was broken in the bathroom.

Didn't clean my room, even though I was gone most of the day.

The lobby was nice and warm. The night staff was as helpful as he could be. But, we had no heat in our room. When questioning the night staff about the heat, he offered us a space heater due the heat being out in all the rooms. He stated someone should have told us about the heat. When we checked in, no one told us the heat was not working. We would have stayed somewhere else if we had known. There is no manager on duty for the night or for emergencies according to the night staff. The rooms are not well kept. The paint is peeling off the wall. The cover was dirty. I would not recommend this hotel!

First, I called over 7 times to confirm my reservation with no answer and no call back. Second, they said our room never got cleaned because the "rooms have been getting messed up." And she kept physically leaving the lobby to check to see if a room had been cleaned. She did this twice and we waited a pretty long time in the lobby. Third, she finally assigned a room and the walls, doors, carpet and bathroom floors were all dirty. There was still trash in the trash can from the previous guests and a towel was still hung on the back of the door like it had been used. The beds were made but there were stains on the comforter. I didn't even feel comfortable taking my shoes off. Fourth, there were damages. The smoke detector was literally hanging off the wall and the door for the bathroom wasn't lined up to the door frame so it wouldn't actually shut. Plus the phone was broke. Lastly, they charge a $100 security deposit for damages which is ridiculous since the rooms are already damaged before we get them.

I stayed at the hotel Wednesday night September 12th. Unfortunately, we checked in after dark and did not evaluate the room prior to occupancy. It was late and in a very bad area downtown and did not feel safe addressing the concerns with management.

Room number 413(next door to the Chairmans suite ) was simply filthy, unacceptable and scary. The room was hot and the air conditioning did not function only the blower fan was on(the thermostat seemed to work, but no cool air was coming from vents. I opened the windows, but had to close them shortly thereafter due to the loud thumping from the disgusting music below(or maybe a nearby room). The room never got below 70 degrees. There was a cheap plastic box fan with a missing selector switch laying against a wall in the room.

There was black mold and mildew on a loose soffit panel above the cracked sink and bathroom vanity! The panel(plywood) was delaminating and absorbing moisture constantly due to the absence of any air conditioning and NO bathroom exhaust fan. There was also mildew around the sides of the sink alcove and rust markings around most of the nails and screws holding the panels in place and the electrical receptacle as well. Wallpaper was peeling up at very edge. Excessive moisture has been a problem for a long, long time. There was an attempt to conceal the neglect(including cobwebs & piles of dust) by installing 40 watt light bulbs in the room.

The anti-scald shower valve was installed INCORRECTLY( the hot and cold supply lines were reversed). This guaranteed that I( and everyone else) would burn themselves before figuring out how to get the cold water to flow. The tub drain was just laying in the unit(broken I assume). Even all the scalding hot water couldn t kill all the mold in the shower. My wife and mother refused to shower at all.

The carpet in the unit was simply worn out. Holes in multiple areas. No attempt had been made to clean the floor and we were afraid to go barefoot in the unit. Dust, bits of trash and dirt were everywhere considerably more in the corners and edges behind furniture.

I was afraid to leave the rental car in the parking lot NO LIGHTS WHATSOEVER after dark when we checked in.. [ I noticed that employees(Michigan plates) all parked up front by the main building..] There were HUGE potholes throughout and the route was barely drivable.

The upholstery on the furniture was worn out, torn and dirty. The tops of furniture were water stained, filmy and dirty. The bathroom and closet doors were hard to open and close due to years of neglected maintenance and moisture absorption(swelling and delaminating). The filthy phone had most of buttons removed(just holes to exposed wires where buttons had been).

Took HOURS just to check in, and only had half the bedding we should have had.

So much potential. Prime real estate. Needs better upkeep to shine like the diamond this place really is.

Would not recommend for the price. I booked on Priceline and was not given a room option. After checking in, I felt ripped off! Stuck in a tiny basement room that looks NOTHING like the pictures. No mini fridge, microwave, only two pillows for a king bed, and one tiny trash can.Also, the restaurant & bar isn t even open! No room service. The river walk is pretty but that s it.

The stay was horrible.. The manager was very rude.. No air.. They constantly knocked on the door instead of calling.. At one point someone entered while I was naked! No where to park and to top it off, again no AIR.. Overall it was a very horrible experience and I will NEVER go back and don't recommend the hotel to Anyone unless you want to stay at a hotel from hell!!

This was a very bad experience. I actually checked out hours after checking in. I stayed the several years ago & it was a lovely experience. However, l was disappointed from the moment l walked in the room. There were cobwebs in the windows & the bed cover look questionable. My plan was to stay the night after attending an event on the Princess boat. However l couldn't bring myself to sleep in that bed so l gathered my belongings & checked out...

I have been here one time and said I was never coming back. But I have always given people the benefit of doubt. My first experience here was June 7th..a special day. I live an hour and half away from Detroit. When I arrived, there happened to be a jazz fest going on which was awesome! The location is beautiful and the hotel itself is quite pleasant, but the staff here is TERRIBLE! Most importantly, the General Manager Sandy. I stood at the counter while four employees were having side conversations. Not one person asked if I had been helped. After Sandy finished introducing her male companion (husband I assume), to the other teammates that walked by, she addressed me. No apology, "thanks for your patience", nothing. After assigning me to the wrong room (parking lot view-which should have been riverview), she seemed more frustrated about the fact than myself with condescending remarks, and once again, no apology.
I really enjoyed the scenery and ASSUMED they were just having a bad shift or something. Booked again recently for my grandmothers birthday (we plant flowers on her grave annually). Called to cancel my reservation, they have it for a different date than what I reserved...Sandy informed her teammates to take my name and number, for some reason, she had already had a discussion with her teammates prior to me even calling (fishy right?). I have yet to hear from her. I have called numerous times. At one point, I was on hold for an hour and 21 minutes. They screen calls and do not return them. And of course, there is no one available for me to contact that's above her. Figures in the city of Detroit right?$150.00 wasted that could have went towards something during my grandmothers get together. If you're looking for a place with regards to their customers interests...look elsewhere. They need customer service training courses as well as hospitality courses terribly! Don't waste your time or money here.

Location is great. I attended an Halloween event October 2016 and the security was terrible. I will not be attending another event here.

Amazing staff and location. Super chic hotel. Their manager is the friendliest most helpful hotel staff I've ever met, even helped me get my car out of the parking lot. Would come back again!

I visited RiverWalk to meet with their event coordinator about the possibility of using their facility for our wedding reception. She was very professional and extremely friendly. The hotel itself has great facilities, and a very unique vintage feel to it, but without feeling out dated. The details and warm colors throughout, along with the amazing view if the river make it a standout option for us. To top it all off, their prices are extremely competitive. If you are planning an event in the metro Detroit area, this is definitely an option you should consider.

The room I was given smelled like someone smoked in there. Also, the fire detector was broken. When I went outside to get my luggage at their parking lot, which was luckily free, there were about a dozen drunken people coming out of their restaurant.

We enjoyed awesome views, service, hospitality- a great bar area, even did some Karoake! Phenomenal bang for buck and the concierge gave us details about well known things to Discover in Detroit like the Motown Museum, auto industries and well known restaurants. We had a suite as well, thanks Mike!!

We had a good stay but our room was a little bit dirty. The be was clean, etc. but you could see some dirt ... like the room was only cleaned quickly. Location is great, though, right on the river. Would be nice in the spring/summer. We would consider staying again.

First off terrible customer service right off the start, followed by no hot water which was known by staff from Saturday and we were not informed on Sunday at check in. Then air conditioning didn't work and they were assigning people for those rooms which didn't work. They moved us to another room again no AC. Our key cards got shut off before check out and now were standing waiting at the front desk for a half hour trying to get in to get our stuff.

HORRIBLE HOTEL! This hotel is dirty, nasty, grungy and SHOULDN'T be open for business! It has potential to be a nice hotel if it is TOTALLY RENOVATED. Don't let the riverfront fool you....you're gonna be disappointed if you use this hotel!

The lock on our door didn't work, and there was no remote for our tv. Went down to The front desk to see if we could get a remote and some cups. Front desk guy was rude and said they have no cups in the whole hotel (although he didn't check at all) and they gave us another remote that wasn't even the same brand as the tv. We gave up on the remote and cups, and overall the room/hotel/service were all sub par. It's honestly not worth the money you save.

It was clean.
There were wires exposed from the none working outlets, door handle fell off, no hot water nor pressure, TV was fuzzy and the walk ways to the entrance was a block of ice.

Awful hotel! No house keeping, no air conditioning, and a concert on hotel grounds for 3.5 hours while trying to sleep. Bad staff, bad neighborhood...stay away!

Greek hotel was booked. This was a last resort and so much regrets. I would have gave it no stars if it was a option. Hopefully with all the remodeling is still going on to the place it'll get better but I seriously doubt it.

Child....bye i wish i could give a no star. We went to look at the hotel to host my mother's birthday and get her the executive suite. Firstly the place is not clean. We go in and it was hot as hell as soon as you walk in the door. I'm guessing the air was out. My shoes were sticking to the floor. There were 3 people waiting at the desk and seemed upset. We were supposed to go look at the suite before booking. Since the line wasn't moving we went downstairs to view the area where her dinner would be held...and uhmm it look like the location where they filmed the shining or something. It was dark, not clean and creepy feeling. Mind you we had enough time to do a walk thru on our own because idk where the staff were but they obviously need more staff. As we were leaving out we saw a couple going in, we asked if they were enjoying their stay and before i could get it all out they woman was like...hell no..lol
Super 8 is better than this place.

Unfortunately we never got to stay at this hotel. We made our booking in September 2019 as we were registered to attend a convention in Detroit in July 2020. We made our payment in full. We also booked our flights from South Africa to the USA at the same time. Covid-19 made our trip impossible - Emirates had cancelled our flights and the convention in Detroit was also cancelled. My efforts to request a refund from the hotel and to cancel my booking in early April were fruitless.The hotel simply chose to ignore my mails on numerous occasions and I have given up on hoping for a refund for 4 nights accommodation. This is not the service I expected to receive as a guest from outside the US. Shame on you Roberts Riverwalk Urban Resort Hotel, you deserve a zero star rating!

Just a mess. The only good thing is that the location is gorgeous and the rooms are a decent size. Beyond that, though the hotel is definitely in need of a major renovation. We stayed in July 2013. We had 4 rooms. 2 of them didn't have air conditioning. One of the rooms we had to use an actual key (not a card) to get in they couldn't find the key for it. We ended up having to use housekeeping's key the only one in the entire establishment. Ugh. Never again, unless they upgrade.

Unique downtown hotel. Large room with high ceilings and huge windows. Staff was very friendly. Great rates and they usually have a room at the last minute. A quick Uber ride to anywhere downtown. Access to the river walk as well.

The worst of the worst, it was no way I was staying there. Location was nice but needs some remodeling fast. No air conditioning.....no way!!!!

Better than i expected due to the reviews. Conveniently located and was a great place to stay after a night of partying.

Bad experience and customer service. The Hotel demands a lot of money from and deposit from customers but couldn't afford to a common bathing soap in the room.

Horrible stay! I got 2 rooms, had to be moved from my room cute little room to another room due to an electrical outlet not functioning and the phone not working and a lamp not working (lets just say the room didn t work)

So I was moved to a New room and there is a heating notice that states Due to current cold weather conditions do not turn your heat up past 74 degrees or your heat may turn off.... added insult I m cold, dirty towels, 2 pillows on a king size bed, and you don t have access to the kitchen for sugar....

The room next to my new room 326 was under repairs..... but you could smell smoke coming out of it...... so I guess this was the new smoke room.

When I went down to ask for some of this stuff, I could not get much help cause the staff member was dealing with an emergency ( guess they past out due to the room conditions or maybe froze who knows).

Then when I the agency I booked through they called the hotel on it, the front desk lady Donna basically said I was a liar and my room was GREAT!!!! Never EVER WILL I STAY HERE AGAIN!!!!!

Very classy, affordable, clean and quiet. Rooms are very nice, bathrooms are great! Everybody was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Had a great view of the river. Do yourself a favor and stay here, if it happens to be slightly more expensive than one of the chains, I promise you its worth it.

We came here for the fireworks. We were in line to check in for about 45 minutes. The rooms were ok. Was having a good time until our car and several others was broken into.

My husband and I stayed a one night stay for a downtown concert this past weekend. My husband is not a review reader like myself and booked this hotel. After realizing where we d booked, seeing the reviews, and it being non-refundable we decided we would take our chances, were both pretty low maintenance. Overall, I have to say our room was clean, from bed/bedding/bathroom so no issues there(checked thoroughly after reviews). Room decor is Very dated/shabby which was a bummer as the overall vibe could be very Trendy if they d put some renovations into it for them and the building overall. We had a king with river view which was definitely a perk of the room. We were pretty bummed upon arrival to find out the restaurant was only open til 11:30 a.m. although they may have advertised this and we just missed it. Compared to all the horror reviews, I would say we either got lucky or maybe it depends on your expectations. It is priced great for close to downtown(10 min Uber ride) so with that being said, I think you re getting what you pay for here.

This has to be the worst hotel ever. I ve been here for 3 days now and the experience is terrible. The service is awful. They didn t clean my room at all, I had to make them clean it, and when they did clean it, they left trash, didn t make up the bed fully and etc. They didn t have clean towels or face rags. Long story short, I do not advise anyone to stay here and I really support my black owners.

We stayed at the Roberts Riverwalk Urban Resort Hotel for one night and had some issues:

- The room wasn't ready at check in time (3pm). Even though we got there at 5pm, the room was still not ready so we still had to wait untill like 6pm, late checkout was out of the question. - - The room we received was cold.
- We couldn't turn up the heat. There was a sign stating:
"HOTEL GUEST
DUE TO COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS PLEASE DO NOT TURN YOUR THERMOSTAT ABOVE 74 DEGREES
DOING SO COULD CUT-OFF THE HEAT IN YOUR ROOM
THANK YOU!"
- The windows were drafty (or the cold air was coming from somewhere else).
- We slept in the cold only because we needed to be downtown the next morning.
- We didn't have hot water, just a little warmer than lukewarm.

Very nice rooms. I have the king suite. Only problem is the bathroom smelled like piss, and the floor and and toilet was piss drenched....SMH...

Tucked back towards the water kinda unassuming when you pull up. Hotel is definitely dated and kinda creepy. Dark long hallways. However the lady at the front desk lady night of 11/27 was an absolute wonderful and delightful person. This hotel is great for the money. The other reviews do not do this place justice. Take care

Worst hospitality ever. Manager couldnt come out to speak to us, but yet continued to walk by us and becken her workers to her to handle us. I would never treat that way in working in thr hospitality field before.

Sadly, I give this establishment one star. IF the owners cared at all about the product/this jewel of the city of Detroit, they would invest in improving this hotel. Upon my visit...parking was terrible (pothole filled lot and too small). Front desk was unprofessional and absent upon entry. Lights were blown out creating a dark first impression. Room was dated and unkempt. Bar was closed on a Friday night. Food was below expectations of a dirty spoon establishment. Ballroom space is a pole barn add-on (hard and cold). The ONLY thing nice about this hotel was the view of the beautiful Detroit River with it's many boaters & jetskiers cruising the riverfront. One star rating here is being generous.

Was charged twice for same one night stay! When I called to take care of this error, staff hung up on me. On night of stay, hotel was filthy and we waited over an hour to check in. I loved this hotel in the past, but I won t stay again due to awful service.

Good location, excruciatingly slow check in, dirty hallways, cigarette stench blowing through ventilation system, marijuana smell everywhere, and broken room thermostat. Did I mention the completely unprofessional and excruciatingly slow march to death check in? Look elsewhere before considering again this place.

The staff us awful. No one knows what is going on. The manager is 'On vacation', although talked to her staff while we were standing there. No towels in our room, we were told to "come and get them". No refrigerator as promised, and waiting to see we were double charged as we booked and paid through Priceline, but front desk made us pay again to stay. Could be a great place with the right staff in place.
