Very little about science and health goin on in this place! Merely a dumping ground for seniors... Horrible place for seniors to be... Staff provides Little or no supervision! How this place stays open? Is a mystery... This place is good at one thing... Taking your parents money! If you have or will have someone here...you will have to spend as much time as you can, otherwise your relative will suffer.

terrible food. good medical staff. Good nurse. But systems and processes and patients are often forgotten. Must actively advocate for parents who are there.
Easy to reach with public transport. The hospital is quite big with multiple buildings. Each building encapsulating its own properties. I have been working here as a research student at Rotman Research Institute. I found all the people to be very helpful. Walking in the hostel and seeing happy faces of old people is what makes the aura awesome.
This review is for the 6th floor Palliative Care unit. My brother entered the facility in August and died of cancer 6 days later. He was in a lot of pain and discomfort but the doctor and nurses in this place made his last days as comfortable as could be. These people are truly angels from heaven! They respond compassionately, quickly, and professionally to every issue-- no matter how great or small. I was particularly impressed with the nurses on duty the day my brother passed away. They were so mindful of our suffering and grief-- they managed to be right where they should be when we needed something, yet out of the way when it came to the personal space that my family needed in our hour of pain.
I can't say enough good about these nurses and staff. We are forever in their debt and I will never forget them although we were only there for six days.
Baycrest Dental Clinic: Top notch. Bring your senior here or come here yourself. Dr. Ghadi, Juliet, Irina--all so very kind and caring. Tooth extraction on my beloved senior went well. No pain, no discomfort. Thanks so so much, ladies!
I can't express my gratitude enough for the amount of care Baycrest had for my grandmother who was in palliative care here. Wonderful staff, helpful and kind. They made the process easier for me and my family and they were very understanding.
I can't even rate this 1 star and would give it a minus 5 stars. I would avoid this place and feel guilty that we chose this for our mother. My 95 year old mother was appalled in the treatment given to her after under hip surgery. Nurses seem to be uncaring and don't even smile, The night staff is the worse.
One nurse came to her in the morning and was like a drill searjant telling her she needs to get out of bed. When she mentioned she couldn't suddenly she became surgery sweet on her. Same nurse came to give her her medication and my mother didn't recognize the pills and she said they weren't hers. She said that she would come back with the proper medication and never did. Nurse was reported and was under investigation. My mother told her to stay away from her and not to come near her again. My mother had physiotherapy that day and mentioned it to the physiotherapist who reported it and the nurse was under investigation. She never received her medication since the nurse documented that she received it so they couldn't t give it again. My mother told that nurse never to come near her again.
Since the incident my mother was finally treated with kindness and compassion that she deserved. Since then she has seen that nurse twice on that floor so she is still working there.
The food is terrible especially breakfast and lunch which is packaged and not fresh items. Patients have trouble opening them and have to ask staff to assist them Evening meals are a hit or miss and mostly a miss.
I was there with my mother every day for three weeks and heard nothing but complaints from other patients. One told me a story of his roommate who need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. He rang the buzzer and finally a nurse came and after an hour took him the bathroom but it was too late and he had urinated in his bed. When the nurse took him back to bed he was told it was o.k. and to go back to bed where he had to lay in urinated sheets.
Another patient checked out early and said that she would continue her exercises at home and didn't want to be there anymore.
They will probably never see this review. They simply do not care for outsiders. I called them early in the morning at 9am and the lady did not give 5s to try to connect with me, simply hung up. No idea how this hospital has such a high rating. Called 20 times and was send to another voice mail, never got called back despite leaving my number, hung up multiple times. Also the nurses forced me into circumcision when I was 16 years old, although I said no. Tried to make an appointment for mental health but they don't care for this issue. Thanks for nothing.
terrible food. good medical staff. Nice nurses. But systems and process and patients are often forgotten. Have to advocate actively for parents who are there.
Baycrest has been great for my dad. Few years ago he was in Rehab Hospital for month. Thanks to their help got a lot better. Really took care of him. Since then he as been there using services of their different divisons. They just really look out for him. I don't know anything about living there just Rehab Hospital and other divisons. I highly recommend and I am very protective of my dad.
Greedy board members using the excuse of "benefits scam" to fire 150 hard working cleaning staff, only to replace them with private hourly, non-benefits, "contractors", who will do half the job of an actual unionized employee. The people who run this hospital are disgusting and despicable.
My Mom spent 1 month here for rehab. Don't have enough space to write everything that was wrong, but will point out a few things that stood out. First, the food served in the dining room is practically inedible. My Mom filled something out stating certain foods she cannot eat, but was still served them. The food is bland, cheap and poorly made. Secondly, the staff are very mixed as far as professionalism and empathy go. For instance, there is a rehabilitation worker named Melissa who is perfect for her job. She is kind, friendly and goes the extra mile to make her patients feel good. Then there is Anna. Not sure why she is doing this job, maybe she can't do anything else. She is rude, lacks patience and empathy, and generally makes you feel as though you're bothering her. She needs to be trained as to how to work with people in general. Other staff and patients don't seem to like her either, but I don't think she even realizes how she rubs people the wrong way. Lastly, the staff at the nursing station don't assist you much at all. If you have heartburn or upset stomach (again, the food), expect to buy your own medicine for it. They don't provide things like that. All in all, if you have the choice to go elsewhere, do it. You won't be happy at Baycrest.
Staff and clinical professionals are awesome! Just had one bad experience with a volunteer. I asked her if she could get me water as my sesamoiditis was flaring up the wazoo that day. She just turned around and said no. Other than that, wonderful place!
Baycrest Rehab feels like a nursing home. Most of the staff are not experienced enough to deal with complex patient cases and are not up-to-date with nursing training. Terribly understaffed during the evening/night shift. My mother was quickly sent back to emergency and later moved to Toronto Rehabilitation Institute for proper care. If you really care about finding a good rehab facility for your loved one, don't choose this place.
