I have been attending Tunbridge Wells hospital fracture clinic and Physiotherapy depts. over the last 2 1/2 - years following a severe fracture, which was treated by an emergency ORIF at Croydon Hospital (don't ever go there if you can help it!) and a subsequent infection which resulted in my emergency admission to Tunbridge Wells hospital.

I have found the medical, nursing, X-Ray Physio team to be outstanding and highly competent in their fields.
The hospital is both clean and modern. Many, if not all, of the wards are single occupancy rooms with on suite facilities.

When I have been attending clinic, car parking can be a bit of a challenge, but this can depend on what time your appointment is. Parking fee's are good, considering this is a large hospital.

In all, a good modern, first rate hospital, which many others could learn from.

I have recently had my 4th operation at Maidstone Hospital and have had sessions at Tunbridge Wells Hospital for a urological problem. I have found the urological staff and the staff on the short stay ward to be friendly and professional, the meals to be good including a visit to the staff restaurant. Why not five stars? A long wait of 9 hours for my operation causing some stress because of hunger and seemingly some lack of communication between doctors and ward staff.

My partner who broke his arm 2 weeks ago(!) has Bern taken in +/- every day since then, having to present himself early in the morning - only to be sent home again in the afternoon without any Information if anything or rather that nothing was to happen that day! Worst Hospital I have ever come across, and I am a surgeon. If we had been told they have no capacity, we could have organised the Operation privately! But so??? Appalling! My German friends can hardly believe it!

Very clean, light and easy to get round. Clear marking to guide you around the building. How modern hospitals should be.
The only problem is that the parking facilities are terrible. There are simply not enough parking places for anyone. The staff parking is even more limited so they are forced to park in the regular parking area, causing huge parking problems for everyone.
Solutions have been to park along the road leading up to the hospital or in the garden centre across the road.

3 of the maternity staff are very rude and have no manners. Went to go and see my daughter and was point blanked refused in such a rude way .its shocking how some of these are allowed to work there if that's how they think they should speak to people.Definitely wouldn't recommend anyone going here and to go to the birthing centre instead.

Very excellent patient care. The only negative encounter was in the emergency room Straight from the Ambulance, just one nurse was hostile and showed no empathy, she treated me terribly and was very rude while I was in excruciating pains.
I stayed in the hospital a few days and every single person who attended to me there after were all wonderful and I'm thankful.

Modern day hospital as in other parts of the modern world. All facilities are updated i.e scanners, laparoscopic ports and high care infection free atmosphere in inpatient' care especially in the surgical procedures.
The staff is eager to help and care. And that's what is needed in a modern health care facility. Well done.

Thank you for the fabulous care that you have given a family member this weekend. Brilliant response, timely care, lovely staff.
Day and night 24 hour care how can this service be beaten?
The hospital is clean, staff appeared to work well in a team and co-ordinated and communicated well with us.
There is wheelchair access, lifts, public toilets, Costa coffee and WHSmith on site.
Parking can be paid for by card, contactless or cash. Bus services run regularly within the local areas.

I was admitted to A&E and then had to stay on the ENT ward for three days. I have a phobia of having blood taken and was very ill too. The A&E nurses were absolutely amazing as were the nurses on the ENT ward. Every single nurse went above and beyond during my stay. They all deserve medals and huge pay rises! The title of 'nurse' just doesn't do them justice. The doctors were also very good to me as a patient but I do have to say, when they liaised with the nurses, some of their manners were lacking. Speaking to them as 'one would address the help' rather than as a fellow member of the team.

I have to say, I was looked after very well when I went in there. I needed help and I got it. The 2 English nurses who dealt with me and the oriental Doctor were all professional, friendly and thorough and made me feel at ease.

Was transferred by ambulance here early hours of Thurs morning from Maidstone A+E as there are ENT specialists. From minute one to my discharge this morning I cannot fault the care I have received. I have been treated with kindness, compassion (I was in severe pain and had a high fever), respect and dignity, with a sense of humour, by every person I have come into contact with, especially the staff on SSSU. It's clean, tidy, light and airy.
Thank you for looking after me.

My daughter had surgery here today. All of the staff were really lovely. The nurses were chatty and did their very best to ensure that my daughter had everything she needed. The anesthesiologists were great and put us all at ease. The surgeons took time to chat with us and answer all of our questions without leaving us feeling rushed.

I am really grateful to all of the staff that made today a bit less stressful than it could have been.

I came here with my 11 month old after being advised to go there by 111. After waiting in peadiartric A&E for 3 hours, we asked when we would be seeing a doctor to be told that' 1 doctor is being used across A&E and a pediatrics and we could be Atleast another hour if not longer of waiting as their very busy. Patients qued on beds up the corridors. No fault from the staff as they where FANTSTSIC, KIND AND CARING. However not enough doctors avaliable to be able to provide people with correct care. Staff where fantastic though really kind and helpful. Just a shame there isn't a sufficient amount of staff to cover people's needs.

We have used Pembury hospital many times since we arrived to live down here from Cheshire, and we have had superb treatment in A&E, and all other depts we have used. The staff are always friendly towards us, and what is most noticeable towards each other. Daily we read about the NHS problems, but when we come to Pembury we can not understand what they are talking about, such is the excellence of this hospital. Thank you again from a couple of 80 year olds, Keep up the good work in 2016.

Nice swanky hospital, but NO good for disabled !!

Nice swanky hospital, but NO good for disabled !!

You have a short walk from the nearest car park, always assuming that you can find a space. Then, if you have an appointment, you have to scan the barcode on your appointment letter. Then you wait by the entrance until your name appears on a screen telling you which outpatients area to go to next (A or B). B is quite a walk for disabled people. Then you have to check in AGAIN and then wait until your name comes up on the screen telling you which room number to go to.
The hospital was obviously not designed by a person with disabled in mind.
Clinics normally run late and it is frustrating at times to find nurses having a good chinwag. Yet you are told there is a "shortage of staff".
Treatments are, when you finally get there, quite good.

On visits to the hospital several times in the last 6 weeks, 2 disabled spaces have been blocked off for the use of contractors working at the hospital laying (if you can believe the wording on the side of the van) imprinted concrete !!!

I have mentioned the lack of suitable disabled parking to staff only to be told to park in the car park up the hill. So it seems that if you are disabled, then this hospital is NOT FOR YOU !!

From the initial 999 call at 7-15am through to discharge at 4-30pm every member of the team were first class.
They were all efficient, polite, caring & fully professional.
Why others find it good to berate and complain I do not know.
Over the past few years we have needed to use the services at A & E at Tunbridge Wells Hospital for, for us, some very acute & worrying situations and we have received nothing but 100% first class treatment.

Thank you to you all, receptionists, triage, doctors, consultants and even the security staff.
You are invaluable.

The hospital itself is good, clean enough, staff and nurses are friendly. However, when it comes to time efficiency, is not very well managed. Some are ok, other, especially the clinicians at Women and Children's department are ALWAYS running late. I'm talking at least 1 HOUR before you are being seen by the clinician. This is quite bad considering many woman came with young children and for them to wait an hour or more to be seen is proven to be quite hard.

They have to start thinking on ways to improve this, ... 20-30 mins are considerably ok, but 1-2hours?? Especially if you have to bring your toddler with you???

The staff were brilliant. I can't fault them at all. The only problem, was not everyone was on the same page. Which caused confusion. And as for discharge. That was a disaster. They don't have enough pharmacy staff. I had a 6 hour wait for my medication and then patient transport. As a terminally ill cancer patient. They need to get this sorted. They should have general pharmacy staff and discharge pharmacy staff. Well it's finally 5pm and i have finally got my medication. Talk about seriously taking the mickey. I trust the bosses, don't shirk their responsibility. Tomorrow they should come in. And heads should roll. They need to get this sorted. The bosses should hang their heads in shame. Or if the have any morals. Resign!! I would give the ward staff. . But the Pharmacy and bosses. None.

I attended the Surgical Day Unit yesterday for a minor procedure, and I want to say a huge thank you to ALL the staff I came into contact with. Without exception they were all unbelievably pleasant and caring - and the place was spotless! I first moved to TW in 1977 so have had experience of both the old hospitals, and I think we should be really proud of this wonderful new building, and the staff who seem to be equally proud to be working there

I used to work at this hospital, specializing in T...

I used to work at this hospital, specializing in Trauma and Orthopaedics (Ward 31), and it was a great job, with plenty of saatisfaction with helping people get better.
A lot of patients said they felt isolated, as many hospitals have 4-6 bedded bays, dealing with the same sex.
But my mum was admitted to Ward 30 (Elective Orthopaedics), back on the 23rd of march, and had her total left knee replacement on the same day.
Apart from the A&E Dept that have cubicles, and a ward in A&E called (Clinical Decisions Unit), and downstairs in the SSSU (Short Stay Surgery Unit), the rest of the hospital and wards, each patient gets their very own room, with en-suite, flat screen TV, and now the Internet (If you take your own Laptop or Tablet).

My mum had only been to this hospital for X-rays, and outpatient appointments. But as my mum put it, when she had her operation "This place is the NHS version of The Ritz"!!!

Would recommend this hospital for treatment, to anyone who needs it.

My father waiting close to a year to have his gall...

My father waiting close to a year to have his gall bladder removed and the hospital spending more of our national insurance in keeping him in hospital due to illness surrounding the said gall bladder. One doctor tells him it's not right and tells him he will have the operation one week and then he's let down by another doc and told he won't have it. Discharged again still without any date for his operation and from an outsider's POV, this is all down to hospital politics. If this was a paediatric situation, this would not be happening but when you get to say... 60? 50? It's more of an inconvenience for them.
2.5 years ago wife gave birth in the hospital for the second time, discharged way beyond 10pm and she hadn't been cleaned after giving birth which was evident when she finally got of her bed.
Most of the staff I speak to are friendly but the inner workings of this state-of-the-art hospital are absolutely shocking. I don't like going to hospital like most people but this hospital is something else.

After suffering from a nasty reaction to a wasp Sting causing my arm to swell badly, I attended the emergency department. I was seen to quickly and the staff were very helpful and friendly putting my mind at rest. The nhs gets hammered alot due to waiting times and like with all departments I'm sure when things are busy it's tough see everyone promptly. But the way I was treated I have nothing but praise for the service received. If I could give 10 stars I would. Thanks Tunbridge wells and maidstone hospital.

Not good with a very painful knee. Why on earth did they not build more parking - there s loads of room on the site - come on please! It s bad enough to have to go to hospital and pay for the parking but quite another when you can t even find a space. There were cars evwrywhere!!!!!

Had a day op at Maidstone earlier in the week, they were great, five star.
Ended up back at Hospital Thursday night, my fault, did too much. Awful experience.
Admitted until Saturday, and seriously unimpressed by the nursing staff, particularly
in Surgical Assessment, they really didn't seem bothered at all. Thank God my
Surgeon, Mr Al Hammouda attended, lovely man.

Had the misfortune to be referred here for a CT scan.
A wholly incompetent computerised check in system sent me to the wrong place to wait.
When I eventually arrived in the department I witnessed a middle aged grey haired technician disrespecting a lady in a wheelchair. I am ambulant severely disabled and when I eventually got called into the scanning room the same man showed no disability awareness whatsoever, requesting that I perform actions physically impossible to my condition. He then proceeded to inform me in front of other staff members that I was rude; that my attitude was rude, as I had said very little other than I can t in response to his imprecations.
All in all a highly unpleasant experience. Such people have no business being employed in a healthcare setting. Other clinic staff were also manifesting clear signs of disinterest in the needs of the severely disabled. A thoroughly disgraceful state of affairs, combining incompetence with complete lack of empathy and a sense of misplaced (semi) professional entitlement.
The department is in dire need of disability awareness training.

I arrived with chest pains. The receptionist was dismissive. I had already had an ecg and needed a blood test. I had to wait 30 mins. Then I was asked to wait in the hall , no rest facility. The lab lost my blood sample and I had to repeat the blood test. It took 6 hours to get out. Eventually the doctors were too , in fact more than helpful, but after 5 hours of hell? it made no difference. This hospital only puts you as priority if you are on your death bed and need instant resuscitation, even then I am not convinced they will be fast enough. Terrible.

Knowing full well how bad my breathing condition w...

Knowing full well how bad my breathing condition was an my past history. I was moved to a Covid ward without Covid in June of this year. I was set up to have a CT scan done. Something I have begged the NHS for over a year now to have. To help determine the lung damage and hopefully push towards a diagnosis for COPD or another form of lung disease. However for no explained reason my CT was cancelled and I was pushed out the door. Practically begging them to just continue what they had already set up to do.

Absolutely vile and disgusting. I have been begging the NHS for help for over a year now and I've been left with worsening breathing and feat for my lungs. They take COVID as an extended holiday as the wardwas practically empty in my time there. Nurses vile and rude. Doctors uncaring and rude. And we pay our tax and trust our lives to these people? Now October and being told still not accepting nw respiratory patients. So does the rest of the world without Covid just do one? Can I stop paying my NI if I'm not getting any forn of treatment from the NHS? Absolute shambles. At this rate is rather Boris tear the trash down than let it continue to let others suffer.

I had a short stay of three days here. The staff were attentive and kind and the Surgery Team gave me confidence for which I was very grateful.

The only two negatives were 1 A person on a mobile phone was allowed to make a loud invasive non urgent telephone call .at about 1am in the morning which lasted for well over 30 minutes and 2. I was given an awful cheese sandwich which came all the way from Bradford. Apart from the food miles this must create surely there is a company nearer to Pembury in Kent Sussex who could improve both on both taste and quality. I cannot imagine what motivates the Hospital to have negotiated such an inappropriate contract - did they taste the food first?

Following a terrible fall which injured my leg really badly I wanted to compliment the staff at Pembury Surgery Assessment Unit, as well as reception staff in A&E. Everyone was so kind, caring and helpful, making my long day actually quite pleasant! It made all the difference. I was lucky enough to be given a reclining chair for the day as well as a blanket while waiting for surgery in the afternoon and felt well looked after. The doctors were fantastic too, very thorough and friendly and they managed to squeeze me in for surgery the same day.

Overall an excellent experience and I'm so grateful to you all.

I went for ingrown toenails which went on for nearly 5 months. On Monday 31st of October, one of the doctors gave me meds and I went home. The pain got so bad and Wednesday I got to see at least 7 different doctors. Got X-rays done and two lovely young male doctors help me. The removed part of the nail out. It's Monday today the 7th of November and my toes feel human again. I want to say thank you to them everyday because if I didn't get to the part of healing without all those doctors I never could've done anything more than just sit.

I didn't get your names but thank you to all of you even the male nurse that went a bit further to help me.

I thank you enough

After seeing a recent news item regarding this hospital I felt that I had to write something. My son & his partner have just had a baby boy safely delivered here by midwives & doctors. All during her pregnancy the care was excellent as she had to make several visits during this time. I just wish that sometimes the good was also reported as well as the bad. Many thanks again to all the staff involved.

Tunbridge wells hospital is a sham all that money ...

Tunbridge wells hospital is a sham all that money spent on it and patients are forgotten. My daughter was induced on the friday still nothing by Sunday morning. She was in a room which was inadequate but staff were ok. Went to delivery suite late Sunday afternoon staff amazing little boy born but poorly couldn't fault staff. Neo natal amazing staff . Post natal ward absolutely disgusting. Daughter had to ask for bedding to be changed bins were not emptied for three days yet another inadequate room. Her and her partner were not kept updated on anything and as they are first time parents they needed help and reassurance. She found out via her notes her little boy had sepsis she had know idea how he got it and what it was. She was told after a week she would be discharged after he little boy had his last antibiotic this did not happen. I listen to midwives talking about there home lives there salaries and paydays and haircuts and drag queens for over two hours rather than doing my daughter's discharge notes. Then when midwife came in and done a mummy check I was fuming as she has had all day to do this knowing my daughter was going home. Then when my son in law asked why they were taking so long they laughed in his face it wasn't until I confronted them and told them I had written times and the conversations that they had and sent them to the complaints board her notes and discharge letters were there in seconds. I have given birth at pembury hospital 6 times when it was old I had a great experience everytime what has happened.

Brought mum here with a temperature of over 38.7,was seen straight away, ended up in ICU for a few days, was told that mum had biliary sepsis, after couple of days went to ward 10 for 8 weeks as mum kept getting chest infections & told she has pancreatitis as well. The doctor's and nurse's was exceptional.,the nurse's was friendly, cheerful, always popping in to see if she was ok or wanted anything, even the visitors could be cheered up by the lovely nurse's,mum is in a wheelchair which they got her out of bed most day's to sit in wheelchair for a few hour's a day,she spent 9 weeks here all together & really loved it,she could even watch free tv & listen to music as well so she wouldn't get bored, even visitor's who came to see her her,mum came home for couple of weeks then got chesty again & paramedics wouldn't take her to pembury so the took her to PRUH hospital Farnborough, the nurses are ok but not like Pembury, the weekend kitchen staff are very rude, bad mannered, the frozen food is not always hot, when mum comes home & gets ill again im going to make sure she goes back to Pembury where she's looked after.

Just had our 2nd baby and again, the staff have been wonderful. Many thanks to all of those working in maternity care and the anaesthetists. Our experience has been very good. Unfortunately, the hospital policy of a non smoking site is a joke. As I walked in through the main entrance, no less than 6 smokers were gathered right next to the front door. Lovely fresh air for our new born baby to breath.

Been in early labour since Sunday afternoon. Came in first thing Monday morning to see my consultant and she booked in to Antenatal to be induced for Tuesday morning. Called at 8am on Tuesday to see what time I should come in. Got told 12 midday.
Got to the hospital for 11:30am only to be told they had over booked. Didn t get to a room until about 2pm then didn t get induced until gone 4pm. Had pessary put in but had to have it taken out at 2am as contractions were 40 seconds apart and two minutes long. Had it taken out and they almost completely stopped within a few hours. Got checked at 11am and told I could go to delivery suit to have my waters broken. It s now almost 24 hours later and I m still in antenatal 3 DAYS later. Dealing with head of ward Noella, she s really helpful but the service is shocking and appalling. I ve basic been here for three days with no progress. It s horrible. Noella and mikaela the induction Midwife are the two most helpful people here. I will never have another child at pembury! I m 20 years old and lost 4 children so far and I m worried sick I m going to lose my daughter as well and no one seems to give a damn.

Awful hospital.

Awful hospital.

Although asthetically pleasing the staff are uselss.
My son was admitted to headchog ward on Sunday evening after fracturing is radius and ulna in a skate park, he went down for surgery at 8:30am on Monday and had one set if obs done. I had to push to get some decent pain relief as he was in so much pain.
He was given a full cast which doesnt have room for swelling and he arm was rapidly swelling. I contacted the nurses for food and pain relief on numerous occasions and was only given them after 4hrs and when I threatened to sue.

It took me 6 hrs to get a doctor to come and split his cast to relieve the pressure which was building up. My son was actually screaming in agony amd passing out whilst he had paracetamol, ibroprofen and ora morph in his system and I wad told it was due to the morphine yet he had been fine witj the other doses of ora morph and as soon as his cast was split he was back to normal (well as normal as you can be with 2 broken bones!)

His charge nurse Hollie actually said to me I am so sorry I forgot to get him food and his medication before I went to lunch and when I spoke to another nurse (ward manager?) She stated that Hollie had said she felt that my son didn't need pain relief (maybe I should snap her bones and see how she copes!)

I discharged my son and drove to my local hospital (Medway) who were amazing, the elevated his arm straight away which Pembury failed to do until the last minute, he was given pain relief and even food on arrival after explaining that they hadn't provided food for him and that the cafe had very little to choose from so he had only had chips at lunch time.

I as a mother would avoid this hospital at all costs!

Also they do NOT provide pain relief to take home

So many incompetence admin staff

So many incompetence admin staff

The hospital receptionist is so incompetent that it would be funny were it not having a negative effect on people's health. She does not know what the Neurology department or the ENT department are. The terms are not familiar to her. She is rude and impatient, she is patronising to anyone having difficulty or feeling anxious. The hospital does not in any way take into account a patient's mental health or other issue such as autism (seeing how the treat an unaccompanied autistic man is just horrible). There is nobody to complain to as the PALS staff are just as bad and discuss complaints outside the proper systems and behind patient's back.

My dad been in for day surgery.

My dad been in for day surgery.
Been trying to get an update and one told us he had surgery at 3 and the other said he was in theatre now.

Staff very very rude and very unhelpful from reception to ward staff.
My mum very worried contemplating driving to Pembury the ward said waste of time we had to wait they will call when they are ready.

My 13 yr old son was taken to pembury by ambulance with a suspected asthma attack which got a lot worse while in hospital. The a and e staff were great and then he got transferred to the hdu room in hedgehog. The staff and doctors were absolutely amazing and made my son feel safe and comfortable. I can t praise this hospital enough xxx
