We moved into our new home in May and since the previous owners had used Isaac, we called them over the summer when one of our two AC units quit working the in first two months. They came out and diagnosed the issue and then replaced the unit that was very old and had failed. While they weren't cheap, it was a fine experience... they did a good job and were very nice.
Then come to November and we realized that our heating was also not working correctly. The upstairs of our home would be set at a normal temperature but some rooms were extremely hot and some were extremely cold. They came out and diagnosed the problem by getting into our attic and noticing that some of the dampers weren't working correctly. They charged us, on top of the $90, and extra $200 to do this "full diagnostic". While it seemed a little steep (I thought they were going to waive the initial $90 and just charge us $200), we paid it and they said they would send a different person back to lay down some plywood in the attic so they could effectively work on the issue.
After that, it took a while to get a hold of the correct person at Isaac to schedule the plywood appointment and when someone finally was scheduled and came, he told me he was just here to assess how much plywood would need to be laid and give me a quote. I said ok, and then he went up into the attic to assess and came back down. At that point, he quoted us $2000 just to lay some plywood in our attic!!!!!! I looked at him shocked and he explained it would take two of his men a full day to lay the plywood. He said it was like $1500 for the two men for a day doing "heavy labor" and then another $450 for supplies. I told him that was crazy and he then claimed he could "tweak" the price downward if it took his men less than a full day. I told him I'm sorry that was just a crazy price and that I was going to look elsewhere into laying plywood.
So at that point, I decided to go up myself and check out these dampers and the plywood situation. I'm not very handy at all, but upon getting up there I was able to maneuver over to the dampers on the existing plywood that wasn't nailed in but was sturdy enough. From here, I noticed that there were cords running to the dampers that weren't working... the cords weren't plugged in! So I just plugged them back in and voila, the heating is working fine. What crooks Isaac thought they could be, sending all these people out and trying to make it seem like we were going to have to do all this work when someone with no experience or handiness could go up and see things were unplugged and the cords are setting right there. 1 star for Isaac, never using them again!
