My recliner arrived in March. Unfortunately, it does not meet my needs. I am 5 tall and find this chair very uncomfortable. The main issue is the reclining mechanism. It is placed too far down the side of the chair to be accessible without twisting up and over the arm. It is difficult to pull up and forward to release the foot rest. Lowering the footrest requires sliding forward in the seat, pressing down with my legs, while pulling on the release bar. Not user friendly design.
The seat cushion felt firm and supportive initially. In the 6 months I have owned this chair, it has become mushy. I now use a pillow on the seat and one behind me in order to sit comfortably. Not the look or function I was going for. Very disappointed in this chair.
On the other side, my 6 tall husband finds his chair very satisfactory.

My husband and I paid $4,400 for a Smith Brothers sectional. We are very disappointed in our purchase. The fabric on the seat cushions looks like the sample fabric we selected. However, the fabric on the back cushions appeared very shiny and worn from the day it was delivered. To us, it appeared that they ran the fabric the wrong way when it was upholstered. We discussed this with the furniture store who sold us the sectional. They told us they contacted Smith Brothers and were told it was just the shading of the fabric and would do nothing about it. In addition, it has been two months since the sectional was delivered, and it still has a very strong chemical smell to it. The smell attaches to your clothing when you sit on it. If the sectional was not so heavy, we would take it apart and set it outdoors so it could air out. They keep telling us that the smell will go away eventually; but still two months later, it is still very much there. I gave it two stars because if you can stand the smell, the sectional is very comfortable to sit on. I would not purchase another Smith Brothers product based on their customer service.

There's good reason why this manufacturer does not allow direct contact, they screen the calls through their distributors because they just don't have the guts to face all the dissatisfied customers. Spent $8000 on leather lounge set, and right from the outset we found it the most uncomfortable, and the leather had a high gloss skin which meant if you lean against the backrest your butt slides right off, and if that doesn't happen the cushions slide right off with you on top of them. Lesson learn't, first Google for reviews, and never buy furniture that you haven't viewed and sat on. Looks like I'll be donating this furniture and spending on a comfortable "Made in China" set. Smith Brothers , screw you.

I do not know about this locations service but, I own one of their sectionals and it is amazing. Best couch I have owned. Quality through and through. Oh, I also bought a small chair to match the sectional. Perfect. Will post photos soon.

I just received our sectional and absolutely love it. It Looks so well made and the cushions are firm yet so comfy. I love the semi-attached backs of the pillows because they look neat even after lounging on the couch. Many furniture stores take up to 12 weeks and we received our furniture in 6 weeks just as promised.

Bought a custom section 7 months ago.... told the designer at the furniture store what we wanted, as well as the kind of fabric we were looking for (color, durability). I also picked out a specialty fabric for 2 of the pillows.

We have several cats and DURABILITY was #1 in the fabric choice. The fabric on this couch is pulling and tearing. It's pilling and the seats/cushions & back pillows are awful. On top of that, the pillows I ordered with a special owl print fabric, I thought I was getting "special".... well I found the same dang pillows at Walmart. So disappointed in this company considering I paid $4000 for this couch.

So very disappointed! Bought a custom sectional for our TV room. Items came in with such poor quality! Seat cushions did not meet to the back, 1/2" gaps between the wedge cushion to the side cushions, ends finished oddly. Just an overall sloppy job.
Doug, SB sales rep, let us know they have been in business for 94 years today and are an $18 million company. When I asked him why the cushion corners don't align like showroom sample he said the floor room sofa is perfect and they would be sewing cushions all day if they were trying to make every piece perfect. Hmmmm...94 years should result in a lot of practice sewing cushions but obviously not enough. Fortunately, Todd from Amish Home Gallery took care of this mess. AHG has always dealt straight with us. I'm sorry I can't say the same of Smith Btothers.
Try Carriage Mills, yes they're less money but their quality is outstanding!!

I ordered a couch through a local retailer of Smith Brothers. This was on May 1st, it's July 16th and I still don't have my couch.

Not only do I not have my couch, Smith Brothers isn't giving the retailer an answer as to when they are going to ship my couch. They are telling the retailer my couch is done and through production, but will not give them an answer as to when it's going to ship.

I called Smith Brothers myself, and I've now left 3 voicemails and still no call back. The retailer is bending over backwards for me trying to figure out what's going on and contacting Smith Brothers daily and not getting an answer.

I would NEVER EVER buy furniture from this company. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. How can you tell someone that their couch is finished but you have no idea when you will ship it???!!

God help the manager I get on the phone with from this company...

This is the most expensive and the worst furniture we have ever purchased.We had always had flexsteel and it held up great.We moved and decided to get gray leather and were told Smith Bros was better.First of all it was so stiff and uncomfortable then the leather stretch out and now it is wearing off.It is bonded which we had no idea.Of course they will do nothing about it so we are stuck with this expensive furniture that we are really ashamed of.Would Never Recommend Them.

I purchased a Smith Brothers custom sectional in October 2018 after being told by the salesperson of the exceptional quality of their products. By April, our high quality sectional had pilling and roughness on all fabric that people sit on (not the back of the sectional, for example). After numerous calls to customer service where I was assured I would receive a phone call to schedule service, I was told the sectional would need to be taken to the Smith Brothers manufacturing plant to be repaired. On June 6, Nebraska Furniture Mart picked up my sectional. After no communication, I contacted NFM and on June 21st, was told Smith Brothers needed to order a part and would be off the first week of July. I was to expect a call to schedule to get our sectional back on July 8. After no call on July 8, I called NFM and was told she would email Smith Brothers and would call me by noon the next day (Tuesday, July 9). No phone call. I called NFM at 4:45pm on July 9. The customer service representative tried to call Smith Brothers, but they closed at 5:00 (it was 5:03 by then). He left them a voicemail and assured me Smith Brothers would contact me and NFM. No phone call. I called NFM on July 10th and was assured that Smith Brothers would contact me that day. This customer service representative did nothing because we should give them time to contact us with an update. No phone call. I called NFM on July 11 and was given the same line about Smith Brothers repairing my sectional. My call was escalated and I spoke to Debbie. She assured me that she would contact Smith Brothers and would call me back. I expressed my skepticism about receiving a callback because by this point, NFM has made it clear they do not care about customers after the sale has been made. She actually did call back and informed me that Smith Brothers will ship my sectional to NFM on July 22nd. They should have it by the 29th then will call to schedule delivery. I am appalled by the customer service I have received throughout this entire process not to mention the horrible quality of a sectional that needs to be reupholstered six months after it was built. When delivery finally occurs, we may have our sectional by August which will be two months after it was picked up. In the first year of ownership, our sectional spends two months in repairs, not to mention the months of trying to get it fixed from April until June.
In short, do not buy Smith Brothers Furniture and do not expect anything from customer service NFM.
At no point has anyone from either company communicated with me without numerous calls first.

We ordered a Smith Brothers sectional from Walker Furniture in Gainesville Fl. Once we received it, there was some items that was not done correctly from the factory. I notified Walker Furniture and after sending a manager to view my complaint they agreed that it was not to Smith Brother standards. They agreed to pick up the furniture and returned it to Smith Brothers factory to be redone. Mr. Dustin Myers, quality control manger notified me to address my concerns and promised to keep me informed on the repairs of which he did. I just received our furniture back and can honestly say it is prefect. What I got is what I expected from a quality company and they delivered.

Thank you Mr. Myers and you can be assured that I will again purchase furniture from Smith Brothers.

Very disappointed in the couch we purchased. Reclining sofa sectional. The end recliner does not fit flush with rest of the couch. We are on our third couch in an attempt to allow Smith Brothers to address the issue. The couch was very expensive as were the 2 matching chairs we purchased. Each replacement couch has the exact same problem. Defies logic that the company can t figure it out and fix it.

I've posted on another site and there also are many dissatisfied customers, I'm very sure that they will do nothing about what I have to say but I want them to know directly from a customer, not a sales rep that gets it second hand from a store that sells Smith Bros. We spent about 9000 in total for two recliners and a sofa with a chaise lounge at one end. We are waiting for them to return a recliner that we asked them to put more stuffing in the lumbar, it has been almost 6 weeks, I'm hoping to get my recliner back in the next week or two. I sent the chaise lounge part of the sofa back a month or so after we bought it to have more stuffing put in the cushion back, something we paid extra for and felt it wasn't as comfortable as should be, 5 to 6 weeks we got it back now that same piece, the upolhstery is shifting. We also have another recliner, manual release with side handle, it's release is so hard it's next to impossible to get out of, my point in writing this is I hope SMITH BROTHERS will take it to heart, I will NEVER buy another piece of furniture from them again, it hasn't been a year yet and I should just send everything back as they have over the last 7 to 8 months had parts of my furniture more than we have. I have never been so disappointed in a company for anything in my whole life, we are retired and this was our last big buy for furniture, we can't afford to do it again, I'm just lost as to what to do anymore. It works fine, but is not so comfortable for me. It feels like I am sitting on the chair vs. in the chair. A salesperson said there is a second option for cushions. It is probably not under warranty, so I might have to seek other options. Are there feathers in the sofa, chair or pillows?

Yes, I would seek out SB furniture if purchasing again. I would try out more styles in stores. I would also communicate back and forth more with designers from 2 different stores to end up with the style and comfort I am willing to pay for and live with for years to come. Saw the same styles I own while visiting in Shipshewana. Loved the fabric and color-it took my breath away. Maybe recovering what I own will look as nice.

Please read what others have posted about this company. I ignored the reviews since I had purchased a sofa years ago and was pleased. But I just received a motorized recliner and was happy with the overall look but it is sooo stiff and rigid. My husband is so unhappy since I gave his old recliner to our church charity store. He works extremely hard and only wants a comfortable chair to relax in when he gets home. Well, it certainly is NOT this recliner. After receiving it, I contacted Smith Bros furniture and asked if they could help but they informed me that I had to go to my dealer to resolve any problems. So, I contacted Glidden Furniture store in Terre Haute , IN and they said they had spoken to Smith Bros and they suggested we just give it time. I told them how displeased my husband was with the hard cushions, that he is a small person, and that he is in his late 70's, as well as myself and that we may not have time , so the owner of Glidden's suggested I put the bottom cushion on the floor and jump up and down on it but to be careful and not fall. Really? I did it anyway cause I was desperate to try anything. Of course this did not help. I called back and reminded Glidden's how I needed help. Then the dealer said I might see if some larger friends would come and roll around to make it softer. Absurd. I said this is not the answer. So she said that they would contact Smith Bros and order a softer bottom insert but would probably cost me about $75 and then her brother would come down and fix the bottom cushion and remove some of the stuffing in the back. I said this was fine. Well I have called my dealer and she will not respond. Smith Bros will not do anything either so I have a recliner that cost me $1603 and is very uncomfortable and causes your back and posterior to feel numb after awhile. I sat in many recliners before deciding and most of the cheaper ones were more comfortable. My choice was an expensive mistake. Do your research ! I will not buy custom ordered furniture again. Nor will I care about purchasing from an American made company or a local store. This has been an extremely disappointing experience. Don't repeat my mistake!

I visited the Smith Brothers Factory on August 22, 2018, with three other colleagues. I have worked in other industries throughout my career and hands down this operation in Berne, Indiana, is the best I have encountered. The furniture Smith Brothers manufactures is second to none in terms of quality. I am currently employed as a Design Consultant for a furniture retailer in the St. Louis market and selling Smith Brothers Furniture to my family and friends allows me to sleep well every night. I know the furniture I have sold each of them will last numerous years allowing their family and friends to share many cherished memories as they enjoy their Smith Brothers. I can say without hesitation Smith Brothers is the best company in the industry to work with. They manufacture American made furniture in approximately six weeks and employ over five hundred skilled individuals. The CEO of the company takes great pride in his employees and rewards them frequently. My recommendation to anyone looking to purchase new furniture is to buy Smith Brothers. After multiple email requests and no response I finally found 7 local (within 150 miles) dealers who carry Smith Brothers furniture but none of them carry the reclining sofa, loveseat, recliner style group that I want. The last dealer I visited informed me that I could visit the factory showroom and see the entire group then order it though them. After contacting the company (they finally answered the phone) I spoke to a VERY RUDE woman who suggested that I contact my local dealer (as if I hadn't thought of that??)she couldn't tell me where I could find that group, I'd just have to check around see if a dealer ordered it, and they can t do that at the factory? And no, you can't see furniture at the factory. Before I make that kind of investment I'd like to see what I'm purchasing. I always try and buy American made but Smith Brothers Furniture is a good example of why it's so difficult! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Very disappointed! In search of a new furniture manufacturer

HORRIBLE!!!! Spent $2800 each on two leather recliners. When delivered one chair not only had the power button installed on the wrong side, it was completely beat up. There are scuff marks on the side, top, and back of the chair. While I understand they can fix that my real problem was with the back/bottom of the chair. In one picture you can see where the leather was obviously cut too short. They tried to stretch it to make it work, but pulled the staples and stretched it again. Then they thought using 10 staples to hold it would be a good reflection on their craftsmanship. They sent this POS out the door knowing someone paid $2800 for it. To make matters worse the color is wrong. This is a brown chair where the swatch we saw had red in it. Long story short the furniture company we bought it from is "doing us a solid" by taking back these chairs with a 20% restocking fee of $1140! I am shocked. I read the bad reviews and then let the designer at the store talk me into buying anyway saying only disgruntled people post reviews. Stupid me for falling for it. PLEASE take my advice and don't buy from Smith Brothers.

I bought 2 leather recliner chairs several years ago. I've gotten tons of compliments on these gorgeous, elegant, and comfortable chairs over the past few years. But what actually sold me on Smith Brothers was how they responded when the three steel bars in the frame that support the nine springs in the seat in one of my chairs broke just recently. Clearly it was a metal fatigue issue. But with no questions asked, Smith Brothers explained it is a Lifetime Warranty for the frame. Smith Brothers stands behind their work. Where do you find that in this day and age? Not in many companies! I will continue to buy their furniture, and I recommend it to anyone. Plus it is all made in the USA! I'm a believer!

People who dont rate it 5 stars have no idea what they are talking about and are probaly problem customers. Working in the Industry Smith Brothers is hands down the best built furniture in the Industries. Remember people usaully only review when they are upset and don't get their way

I already posted here, so I won't go into that anymore, however I did want to point out that many people post negative reviews on this company's Facebook page and then the company deletes the posts. In this day and age with the power of social media a suggestion would be to connect with some of these customers and make it right, most people don't continue to complain if any attempt is made to resolve their issues. Totally unacceptable 3 piece leather furniture. Delivered May 2017, $9000. NO ENGAGEMENT AT ALL FROM SMITH BROTHERS.

Bad news company that doesn't stand behind their product. To be fair, I have bought a few things through Dow Furniture that this company made. No problems. I bought a recliner with electronic buttons up and down. Had to return it right away because of it squeaked something terrible. They send it back and tell me it is all better. Dow then goes out of business so I have to go through Penny Mustard. Chair starts squeaking again. Now I have to pay $155 to get this thing transported to and from Berne. Call me and tell me it is all fixed. Six months later, same thing. Naturally, smith doesn't want to handle any of the costs or stand by their furniture. The right thing would be to send me a new chair after three fixes....but they won't.

We have owned the sofa for about a year. The sofa fabric, cushions and backrests, look 20 yrs old. Severe pilling and fabric breakdown. The retailer sent the sofa to Smith Brothers who insists a house pet caused the damage, and it looks like the cause. We do not own a cat, and our 13 yr old dogs don't jump or dig(nest) on the furniture. They never were on the sofa unless they wanted to snuggle. Maybe our feet were too rough. Who knows.They offered a repair, but with the same fabric. A fabric we have no confidence in. We told them to keep the sofa. Terrible fabric grade. Poor customer service from manufacture and retailer.

Bought sofa, chair, love seat, and ottoman (model 410 with high grade fabric) approx 6 months ago. The fabric is severely pilling, and becoming embarrassingly thin. I had to go through hoops to find a direct smith brothers phone number, which only led me to a secretary who stated that I must contact the dealer, and could not offer any more information or assistance. I called the dealer, who stated the fabric is only warrantied for one year, and they could send someone to shave off the pilling. I called smith brothers back, explained my situation to the secretary, and asked if shaving the fabric would be appropriate, since the fabric is already thinning only 6 months into use. She stated, "hold on," and transferred me to a voicemail that stated it was customer service and to leave a message. I have not heard back from them as of yet. I would not waste a penny more on any Smith Bros products!

Bought a Smith Brothers sofa and love seat from Chariho Furniture of Richmond RI in 08/18. Delivered to me 10/18. Everything was great until 02/19 when the sofa starting making a popping noise. Repair man came and made a "repair" though he thought there was a structural problem and his fix may not last. It didn't and in the end of 04/19 the sofa went back to Indiana for repair. Returned to me in June and still made popping noise. 0n 6/27/19 sent back to Indiana for repair and returned to me in Aug 2019.. Still made popping noise so the owner of Chariho Furniture and the Rep from Smith Brothers John Ford came to my home to investigate. The owner of Chariho tried to tell my husband and I the sound we were hearing were the moving parts of the sofa (he said like the sound you hear when you recline a recliner)My sofa and love seat are stationary. The decision was finally made the first week of September to replace my sofa .Due to my upholstery being out of stock I received my 2nd sofa on 11/9/19. Before the delivery men left I said let us sit on it and verify it doesn't make noise. It made a loud clicking noise when you sat on it and then again when you got up. I made a video and sent immediately to the furniture store and to the rep John Ford. I refused the sofa and had them bring back in the original sofa.I asked for a refund of my purchase and was told I had a lifetime warranty and that the problem with my second sofa was being fixed. In addition I was told it was probably what was wrong with the original sofa. The springs were"catching" on the foam that covers the springs and frame. Owner of Chariho also stated we needed to sit further back on the sofa seat as we were over compressing the springs. You can't make this stuff up! 2nd sofa redelivered to me on 11/23/19. Was fine for a short time until it started making a thunking noise when you sit on it. Chariho states there is nothing they can do and says I have to deal with the rep.Neither the owner of Chariho or the Rep from Smith Brothers has come to inspect this 2nd sofa. He finally reached out to me in January to tell me he sent my video to Corporate and there is a defect and they are making me sofa #3. And they can't believe they didn't have more complaints. I sent him my arm cover so that they can match the upholstery again and that was the last I heard from him. I have texted him , I have called him and no response. So I guess my next call is to my attorney. This set cost me $3300. This company does not make quality furniture. I have kept every text and have a record of my calls. Buyer Beware. Zero stars for this company and rep John Ford.

I bought a very nice recliner in august 2013. This is a sorry piece of furniture. Few months after I received it, it had to be sent back for very poor workmenship. Now one of sprints for the foot rest has broken. I called the smith brothers in Indiana and was told to contact the store I bought it from for service. When I had to send it back for the repairs in2013 it was 3 months before I received it back. The store I got it from is going to help me. Be careful what you buy from these people.

Very pleased so far with our Model 237 sofa and love seat. It sits very well and the grade 3 Semi Aniline leather is soft and supple. The fit and finish is on par with my Hancock and Moore furniture. Only time will tell if it holds up like H&M.

I purchased Smith Brothers sofa and chair about 20 years ago and this set looks as good today as as it did 20 years ago. About two years ago we purchased two reclining chairs. One chair started to show unusual ware on the leather. I contacted Smith Brothers about the problem and got the surprise of my life. They contacted me arranged for the chairs to be returned and recovered. The experience was everything you want from a company with that cares about it product. I recommend Smiths Brothers for any furniture needs. You can t go wrong.

The frame construction is second to none, and the fabric looks as good now as it did when we purchased it. We have since purchased three additional pieces (loveseat, another sectional, and chair) all are fantastic! Highly recommend!

I purchased a smith brothers big / tall press back reclining chair a few months ago and was told that the very firm seat would loosen up. It has not and this chair is so uncomfortable that I really can not use it. When I complained to the store that I purchased it from; I was told my only solution was to spend another $100 on a new seat core. We recently purchased a Smith Brothers 5000 sectional to go with our leather chair that we bought a few years ago. The sectional is amazing! We get compliments on how great it looks all the time. Everyone loves the way it sits. I love the fact that it was made here in Indiana where I am from. This is great quality furniture, and it is obvious when compared to our old couch that came from overseas.

Buy American, buy Smith Brothers! You will be very happy with a quality piece of furniture that will last a long time!

Do Not Buy Smith Brothers Furniture!!! Same as all the bad reviews on here. After 3 months of owning our new furniture material started piling. We too were accused of abnormal use which caused it to do that. I guess you are not supposed to sit in your furniture. We have no pets and grown children. After 7 months our couches are also wearing abnormally. The furniture looks like we've had it for 5 years and it hasn't even been a year. They state they have a one year fabric warranty but it doesn't cover piling, shredding, holes, etc... So why do you have a fabric warranty? If it doesn't truly cover the fabric? Ridiculous. We spent way too much money on this stupid furniture. Buyer beware. Do not purchase furniture from this company. They do not stand behind their product. They know the fabric sucks then you are stuck with it. The consumer is at fault for buying their crappy craftsmanship. Also I suspect the 5 star reviews on here have to be from people that either own the company, or are related to the people that own the company or friends or employees. The 5 star reviews are pretty vague and the 1 star reviews are pretty specific. Here's an idea - stop making crappy furniture and pissing people off so you can get a real 5 star review!

I have 2 Smith Brothers sofas and they still look new! One is 10 years old and the other 30 years old! If you want quality that actually gives you what you pay for this is the company to go with! Did I mention comfort? Yes the cushion cores are the same too!

OUTRAGEOUSLY poor craftsmanship, lack of quality control and no pride earmarked a product that looked great on the show floor but fell completely short of expectations when it landed in our living room. Wanting to buy American and willing to pay a premium for custom and quality, we bought from Smith Brothers -- what a mistake! From mismeasured cushions and arm rests to buckled upholstery, to misshapen material all the way to the foulest smelling "leather" that one guest thought we bought Naugahyde, this POS went back to the dealer ASAP. The only good thing to come of it is we played a great game of "find a mistake" that made us laugh until they took it away and the dealer refunded our money. NEVER AGAIN, please take your hard-earned dollars elsewhere, our experience showed they don't deserve your dollars.

I personally own a 6 piece 415 sectional in fabric and a 501 motorized recliner in fabric also. Have had these pieces for a few years, the quality is second to none and the fabrics still look like the same day the pieces were delivered. I also should mention I have a 9 year old daughter and a small dog and have zero issues. I would highly recommend Smith Bros to anyone.

I have seen many factories and sat in more sofas than I can count. What I can tell you, from an insider's perspective is this: Smith Brothers is my # 1 GO TO for upholstery. Their fabric selection is amazing. Their selection of frames is fantastic. The construction is top-notch. The qualux 2.5 density foam is standard on every single piece. Qualux not only assures the foam keeping it's 'crown', but it's amazingly comfortable. Smith Brothers is the only company I know of that consistently asks the question, "How can we do this better?"....not "How can we do this cheaper?" This is a company that is 100% debt free. Purchased a sofa through Penny Mustard. The side sat in the most had noticeable sag in it. They came out since it was under warranty and didn't honor warranty at all. "It's normal wear". They told me it was harder to get up from it because I was getting older and I should out 2x4s under it to lift it up. When pointed out the other end doesn't say he had no explanation. Ended up having pay for 2" of dense foam to add into cushions to bring it back to what it used to be. But the worst part is that the fabric is fraying because they didn't finish it off underneath. I paid almost $2000.00 a few months ago. I'm 5'1" and I can hardly get up in it. My husband and I wanted to purchase quality that lasts. A lot has changed in the furniture industry even within the past 5 years. We were looking for higher quality than the leather sectional we currently have... That was very hard to find because so many companies have cut corners. Yes, we had to spend a little more. Over $4000 for a three recliner sofa, and it's been nothing but trouble from day one. Special ordered, shows up in 4 weeks with numerous things wrong with it. Back not lined up, squeak in the motors, underneath unfinished, I could go on and on. Sent out a repair person that did nothing. Finally, came to take it back to company to be looked at. Eight weeks later we finally got it back. Many issues addressed, but still some issues remain. I plan to call the company, and my dealer yet again, doubt either will be helpful as getting to this point has been a nightmare. Will never purchase a thing from this company or the dealer again. They have shortened the sides to the point that they don't stay on the arms. I really don't want to take them off because they protect the chair but, they are constantly on the floor. I am an interior designer and have worked with Smith Brothers for the last 7 years. I have had nothing but excellent service for my clients. Recently, one of my customers fell in love with a fabric that Smith Brothers didn't recommend putting on the chair. It wasn't recommended because they couldn't promise a perfect pattern match. I just got pictures from my client, and the chairs are absolutely beautiful. You would never expect that they didn't recommend that fabric. Smith Brother's tailors are more than just tailors, they are artists. I can't say enough good things about Smith Brothers.

I recently purchased my sofa & chair from Cherry House in LaGrange KY. Delivery was yesterday (9/18/18). I am so happy with both pieces. I chose Smith Brothers because I was able to choose extra firm cushions & I was able to customize. I love how sturdy both pieces feel. I believe these will last for a long time. I noticed that the pattern on the chair matches perfectly where there are seams & where the cushion meets the fabric on the base. I also noticed that the nail heads are straight & evenly spaced. You don't find such attention to detail with most furniture you see in "big box" stores. I know, I've been looking for months! As for pricing....I compared other "big box" stores & so-called discount stores (I saw no discounts) in the area & found they were roughly the same price (within a few dollars) & they were flimsy & cheaply made. I read the reviews of the other furniture stores & found them to be more negative than positive. I think I made the right choice in Cherry House & Smith Brothers Furniture.

This is my Smith Brothers recliner in the living room, with its leg amputated. The "lifetime guarantee" on the frame lasted less than two years. The lug or insert in the bottom of the frame that the leg screws into is defective. They are telling me that it is not part of the frame. It is an accessory or something and is not covered under the guarantee. They sent me a different part and told me to fix the chair myself. However, I cannot get the defective part out of the hole without a special drill. I am not buying any more Smith Brothers furniture. They should stick to cough drops.

I would have given a zero if I could have. Like many of the negative reviews below, I have nothing good to say about this manufacturer. I bought a sofa, love seat, and chair for $9000. It is now not quite 7 months since it was delivered. The seat cushions shove out on the floor because the seat back cushions are attached with velcro and the force pushes them down and the bottom cushion out. This is a design defect which no customer should have to pay for. The seat back cushions are now misshapen and look like cushions on an old couch. The leather has spots of white like the leather was sprayed on, not real leather. The furniture store (Sheely Furniture, North Lima, Ohio)is supposed to be the intermediary because you cannot speak with Smith Brothers. They are equally worthless. They appear more concerned woth appeasing Smith Brothers. We bought this furniture because we wanted all American made furniture. Purchased locally. They should be ashamed. This furniture is terribly made. How the company responds is the key, and this company will not even engage. They just don't care. Do your research. This is not a reputable company. We are going to have to hire a lawyer to get some help, and plan to contact our state attorney general and the Better Business Bureau.

Don't waste your money buying Smith Brothers furniture. Purchased 2 recliners and the fabric on the seats on back has worn to the point that we need to replace them. When you ask about the "lifetime fabric warranty" purchased at time of furniture purchase of course there is a loophole that does not cover fabric not meeting wear standards. We have furniture by other manufacturers that is over 20 years old that looks brand new...expensive mistake buying Smith Brothers.

We went into our local furniture store to order a sectional for our living room and walked out with that on order and another Smith Brothers couch that they had on the floor for our game room. Then one of the chairs recliner mechanism has broken and I have not been able to get repaired. My dealer doesn't service products outside of warranty and my chair is several years older. Frustrating since the dealer gave me the names of repair persons 150 miles away who don't come the distance to my home. The dealer will not provide any assistance, since it is out of warranty. I found a repair person to do the work, but need to obtain the parts and cannot do so outside the dealer. Very frustrating for furniture of this quality. Tried calling manufacturer and they keep referring back to the dealer.

I have purchased leather furniture for my living room and my family room from Smith Brothers of Berne in the past five months.The furniture is beautiful and comfortable, with one exception. In my family room is a motion sofa in brown leather that I am told is the most popular leather in their collection. The problem is that within four weeks of sitting on the couch I have developed an allergic reaction which has progressively gotten worse. I ve contacted the seller and this manufacturer. Smith Brothers contacted the seller but never responded to my email. The manufacturer said this has never happened to any other customer and there is nothing they can do. I don t know what chemicals Smith Brothers uses on their leather, but I am allergic to it and am unable to sit on it for more than a short time. I took much care in purchasing an expensive couch that was made in America, and am extremely disappointed because I am unable to use it. One way or another this situation must be resolved.

We bought a sofa and two armchairs with decorative pillows from the local dealer for Smith Brothers 4 years ago. The 3-seat couch looks great until you sit on it. The seat cushions separate from each other and you have a tendency to slip into the crack between the seat cushions. The feathers (Duck??) started coming out of the decorative pillows almost immediately. They poke everyone! We paid a lot of money for a couch that was supposed to be "top of the line" and for pillows that anyone could have picked up better quality ones at a Costco! I love the styling of my sofa. But that s where the love stops. My sofa has 3 cushions. They slide around with a large gap between cushion, enough of a gap that it s not comfortable while seated.

I contacted the furniture store where I purchased it. Smith Bros. does not have a way to contact them directly which is a HUGE red flag...one that I didn t find out about until later. After going through the retailer, my sofa was picked up, kept for 2 months and returned.

Nothing was repaired. Cushions still have a gap. I still have to stick a pillow on one end of the sofa to keep the cushions from moving.

I paid a lot for this sofa. What I got was a substandard sofa. I might as well bought a cheap one because this one is not functioning as it should.

I have been dealing with Smith Brother's Furniture for awhile now. I even visited the factory, and wow, the workers they have are second to none. Everyone their cares about the furniture that they make for the customers. You can tell they have a ton of pride in the work they do, and the furniture shows that. A lot of these negative reviews should not be on here because it sounds as thought the retailer has let the customer down more so than the manufacturer. I would highly recommend Smith Brothers, and I have been in the industry for 10 years.

Have had only one week. Quality of upholstery work looks great. Tilt back chair the most comfortable ever. So why are they picking it up tomorrow and my furniture store thankfully giving me a complete refund? It is off-gassing fumes that have given me a headache, sore throat, sinus congestion and eyes burning. Opening doors and windows everyday to air out smell until they pick it up. Loved the look and comfort but no trade off for health.

I notified the dealer that I purchased it from, and they did not respond to my calls (JK Furniture in Little River, SC). I wrote to Smith Brothers and they responded stating that pilling was not covered. I responded stating that it was not pilling, it was fraying. Never received a response from them back. Very Disappointed!

Terrible, terrible quality control and customer service. Bought a power recliner sofa in November 2017 and the sofa cushions are indented and uncomfortable with the fabric covering very loose. Like sitting in a cereal bowl. Company will not exchange or refund money, only repair it under their strict warranty and you have to pay for dealer shipping. If you purchase their furniture you will not be treated like a customer. You will only be a lottery purchaser, one may get good furniture, but most will lose with lousy furniture.
