After a hail storm, my wife and I noticed water seeping through our ceiling. We contacted a roofing company to check out the damage and the roofing expert assured us that we had significant hail damage. We filed our claim with Chad Pleasant in which he sent an uneducated independent photo taker out to take photos of the damage. Chad later denied our claim saying that we had no hail damage (even though his photo taker also agreed that there was hail damage). Chad told us we had wind damage and needed to file a wind damage claim, and so we did. Chad sent the same photo taker out to snap some photos and he denied it again. Chad said the photos showed the same wind damage that was seen in an earlier inspection. The only problem with that story is that the earlier inspection that was done 2 months prior was done from the ground and these photos were taken from on top of the house. Well now I am dealing with the hassle and expense of hiring an engineer and possibly an attorney if need be all because an insurance company that I faithfully paid every year for 3 years is greedy and crooked.

PS Chad Pleasant (the secretary) is not very pleasant at all and has a very bad attitude.

American Risk Insurance has POOR POOR POOR HORRIBLE awful customer service! The people who work there sound like they don t want to work they. They are unclear on their terms and will cheat you out of every dime they can. If you value your property GO WITH ANOTHER INSURANCE AGENCY!!

horrible experience. It's been 3 weeks now working on a claim (our first claim and had this insurance for 8+ years) and have nothing repaired or replaced. called again today for the millionth time and was told they have no notes and no paperwork on the claim, and that not one but two of the claims personnel are not there (no notice) and would not be back until monday...and its Thursday today. this company is pure trash. we try all day every day mon-friday to speak to someone who knows what they are doing..and we get no help. don't do it..just RUN!

I called to find out about my claim and Hannah was so courteous. My check was going to go to the wrong address, but she updated it for us.
She also went out of her way to call me back later in the evening and let me know the check was on its way. Great customer service

Have never done business with this outfit but have been hanging out at a pub that is in a position where I can see the building for close to 10 years. We were laughing this evening about the fact that the big illuminated red letters that are around the top of the building have had the A and the C out for years and I decided to look up the business and when I started reading the reviews I was compelled to write this. There is no doubt that a company that will not even take the time to make sure that the simple letters on their building are functioning properly would be nothing but a sham and reading the reviews seems to support that theory.

American Risk Insurance came thru for me when I needed them most, after my home was damaged by a major water leak. The claims department was very helpful and courteous. They responded quickly and kept me informed in a timely manner. I had no problems getting my insurance funds. I recommend them for their competitive premiums and great customer service. Thanks ARI!

They are only getting one star because it is not possible to give negative stars. This company is terrible - they do not return calls, they do not communicate delays, they stall like crazy, and give no written explanation of how they got to the amount you get and then to top it all off they send out bad checks , and will not help resolve the issues they cause .

I am going to contact the Texas Department of Insurance about their duplicitous business practices.

I have been with American risk for over a year and had to file a claim. I would describe this company as not caring. It has been almost a month and still no resolution to my claim. I have called and have been given the run around. Left two messages for Mr.Simmons to call me. No responce. I will be considering a change after my claim is finished.

My agency has been writing business with ARI for years and they have taken great care of my clients. I strongly believe that most of the negative reviews are the result of either miscommunication or displeasure during the claims process. Let's face it, if you have to file a home insurance claim, you're likely not in a very good mood and you're ready to let everyone know about it.. Overall, ARI will have your back. Just but be sure to read your policy backing and speak to your agent to avoid confusion and misunderstandings!

My company put a roof on for one of their customers. Luckily the home owner paid me what the company's estimate was due to the house being sold so the lender cut me a check. The home owner is still fighting with them along with my help to get the depreciation back. They also shorted the estimate by 800 sq feet of roof. Upon putting in for a supplement I was told to get a eagleview. That measures the roof by satellite. I did that and now like everyone else has said they only talk to home owners and it's gonna be a couple weeks..it's been a couple weeks a couple times. They are extremely rude and it's obvious they have no concern for their customers or the contractors that do the work.

If i could give them a 0 i would especially since they are affiliate with Lee Patterson insurance. They tried to force a policy on me. And when i said no to the policy they kept going back and forth with me even the President of the company tried to tell me I was spinning the truth. I contacted the department of Texas insurance who advised me that these tactic are wrong if you have not sign any policy or given the company money they cannot force you to write a cancellation letter or even provide them with your current policy information. I had to email the company telling them to not contact me anymore. American Risk Insurance cancelled the policy and apologized for the issues. But just knowing that they allow little company's like this to make them look bad makes you not want to deal with their company at all.

American Risk Insurance is the worst I have dealt with while going through a claim process. In North Texas, we had a really bad hailstorm (March 2016) and I had several properties that sustained hail damage. I dealt with other insurance co. like Imperial, ASI, and Centauri besides American Risk Insurance. American Risk took the longest to respond. When I didn't hear from them, I called them back. The desk adjuster, Chad Pleasant was so rude, he basically told me that if I don't bother him by calling, he would have more time to work on claims. Mind you, I had only called once, and that too, when I initially made the claim, I was told to call back if I didn't hear in 2 weeks.
After the roof was replaced, the contractor suspected there could be some leak inside and recommended I call the insurance to have an interior inspection, to make sure. 10 days after I left a V-mail with Mr. Pleasant called me back and started out in his rude manner. I decided I wouldn't talk to him and asked for his boss. I left Larry Simmons, Mr. Pleasant's boss, a voice mail and heard back after another 10 days. Barely seconds into that conversation, it was evident to me that Chad Pleasant's behavior was not an isolated case. It felt to me that this is their company culture.
I would advise anyone to stay away from this insurance company.

Absolutely outstanding customer service by the entire staff. Luis and Hanna especially. Since the first day of my claims process i was treated very respectful and walked through the process so that i had a clear understanding. Both my initial check and depreciation check arrived in a timely manner. ARI even over-nighted my first check so that i could begin my repair ASAP, at no cost to me. I had considered looking at other provider quotes but after all of the exemplary customer service I received, I chose to renew with ARI and never second guessed or compared my premiums. I will continue to have my home insured by ARI for many years to come because of the piece of mind and excellent customer service ARI has provided ... great customer service is priceless these days.

Spoke to Luis Romo Claim Examiner day after day he acted like I should know what to do and explained to me that a letter attached explains it all. So tell me why you say if any questions please contact! He s VERY RUDE! Very unprofessional just wanted to argue with me cause he wanted to be right!! I m the CUSTOMER HERE! Awesome, but once you get past that point to the claims adjustors and everyone else behind them its a total nightmare, they over talked me.. blind transfered me .. people. Horrible insurance company that doesn't explain things clearly. Will use every excuse possible to not pay out. Sure the premium is a bit lower than other companies, but what's the point of paying anything if they refuse to hold up their end of the agreement. Worst insurance company I've dealt with and very rude staff. Also, hopefully your incident doesn't occur over the weekend because you'll have to wait for their offices to open on Monday to file the claim, and then wait a few weeks for the adjuster to come out afterwards.

They gave me the lowest price for my policy, but upon shopping around a few agents warned me that this company is notorious for cancelling within 3 months. 3 agents warned me to stay away and that they stopped working with them due to customer complaints. They actually have the lowest rating for an insurance company. Anyways, after they came in to evaluate my home I get a letter notifying me about the cancelation of my policy due to shingles in the roof missing. I noticed 3 small shingles that were slightly off color due to not being able to match the original. Mind you that the home i bougjt was in excellent cindition as well. Stay away from this company at all costs unless you enjoy shopping for insurance and messing with your escrow. I had to deal with both and I hated it.

I would not recommend this company. Never missed a premium, however, when we had a claim they disregarded the coverage spelled out clearly in our policy. One of the buildings we managed in San Antonio at an apartment community called City-Base Vista burned down in the summer of 2016. We carried Replacement Cost and Rent Loss through ARI. The bids to replace the building all came in around $1,000,000 We received just over $250,000. Really?! ...that math only works for them. If you have had a similar experience I suggest you report them to the State of Texas Insurance Board.

We had the worst encounter ever, they will send a restoration company to your home and the company will act as if their helping you and making inventory of your items but they are only there to dispose of your things so you can't account for everything your losing they will strip your home of everything. The restoration will tell you everything is a lost and then when you keep calling they will inform you that they have your items in a storage and the items have been clean but half the things are missing and when they drop ithe items back to your home they're damage and not cleaned and they will use a moving company so you can't argue about your things, the person handling your case will not return emails or phone calls. Don't Let them send an adjuster to your home they will rip you off use another as public adjuster. Get help from and out side vender when dealing with them. They will give you a third of what it cost to rebuild your home. I'm telling from a current expirence. The worst ever.

I claimed for Roof damage from a recent Hurricane and hail. It was fighting tooth and nail.
They are really horrible. Will not pay , no matter how obvious your damage is... Our house leaked from roof damage, shingles gone , very obvious... yet, the company would not pay a dime .
Their Premiums are High compared to other companies. and when it comes to paying out claims, To SIMPLY WONT.

The customer service representative, Chad Pleasant, was rude to my homeowner, as he was with me. At some point I'll have to put a lien on my homeowners home.

1 star, company changed the dates on my claim to avoid paying a claim for replacement cost and only paid actual cash value which meant they paid zero on the claim. My roof cost $9500 out of pocket. All this after I paid them about $1500 per year for the last 10 years. Horrible way to treat a client. I am filing a lawsuit.

Worst insurance out there. Someone hit my house and caused about $10000 damage. Struggled to speak to an agent. American Risk gave me part of the payment, around $4000. American Risk sued the driver for my deductible, kept it as well as didn't pay on about $2500 of the receipts that I submitted to them. They pocketed about $5000. I submitted my paperwork in Nov. 2018. I called in Feb 2019 to check on the status, they said they never received my receipts. I sent them again. I left many, many voice mails trying to find out about my claim. I received a check today for under a $1000. The worst customer service on top of that. I am cancelling them tomorrow. Do not buy, read the reviews. They were very good at taking my money for 8 years.

Sure it took a little longer because of the # of claims they had but once my claim was processed, the roof was covered in full & Josh & Luis were so easy to work with. They are now saying they are canceling our claim before and never gave us a warning or anything. They say they did but we never got anything in the mail at all we have been keeping any mail we get from them or anything since this is still a newer house for us.

We were first time home buyers and ignorant, but now that we tried to file a claim with them, a legitimate claim, they keep trying to weasel out of it. American risk insurance will not repair any clams made on your roofs ARI train there ajusters to stay under your deductible so they will not have to settle on a clams I have over $6,000 worth of damage on my roof from a wind storm in Hutto tx from December 18 and few other wind storms before that one I got 3 estimates from 3 other roofing company's all 3 showed me where the winds had blown the shingles so fore back the shingles have cracks in them which will let water come thu when it rains and cause more damage to the roof ARI adjuster only looked at the shingles that had blown off the roof and said my claim was only a little over $800. And did not meet are go over my deductible a large amount of homes in the areas are replacing their roofs from the wind storms that came thu . If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. My house flooded due to a faulty water heater on a Sunday. They don t open weekends so I made my claim Monday morning. All week I got the run around and come the weekend I m told the adjuster won t come until another week. My house is humid. My carpet is ruined it smells ugly and we have to keep turning the water on and off just to flush toilets because no one will come. I am over having to call them back and forth to no avail. American Risk Insurance will scam anyone and everyone, they'll happily take your $50.00 application fee plus your $35.00 inspection fee and then they'll send an inspector to make up any excuse of your property (loose shingles, bad paint job etc) and then cancel your service just like that, its a win/loose situation where you loose and they win.

This company is horrible. Had hail damage and didn't know it. After we found out, they supposedly traced it back to a certain date based on weather info. Since it had been over a year, they only paid a partial claim. Then I found out that my broker cancelled them due to poor service with other customers, and he didn't want to quote them anymore. I received a cancellation notice from American Risk 2 weeks after it cancelled. No letter saying it would not be renewed or even using another agent. It's definitely an American Risk if you decide to go with this company. The only reason they have 1 star from me is because I had to choose something.

Horrible company. How the hell are they even in business. I didnt choose them. They were added part of my loan and if i knew they were this bad i would have changed companies. We had our roof changed after a storm. They had approved it before it was changed. Now that i call for the rest of the money to pay the roofers they keep sending me around. They keep asking for weird "proofs" that no other company asks for. Even the roofers have never heard of this sytem this company is running. They originally asked me to show proof that I have paid the roofers and that they are a real company and that i didnt lie about having the roof changed. That mucg made sence. So they tell me to show proof that the check i wrote the roofers have been cashed. So i do just that. But them they turn around adn say they need the actual check! How does the roofer cash the check but send you my personal check to proof i gave them a check. They make no sense. Just a bunch of running around so they wont have to deal with the customers or pay.

A lot of these negative reviews must be from folks that didn't read their policy's. It's a shame that people blame their incompetence on companies. I have personally had two claims with American Risk that were promptly and professionally handled. All prices were fair and the adjustments were handled by an unbiased 3rd party. Please read your policies and learn what actual cash value, depreciation, etc.... means it will save you a lot of heartache.

After days of trying to get in contact with my agent, I finally did, at first she was really nice and polite. Once I told her that I wasn't renewing my home insurance, her attitude changed. She started giving a rude attitude and told me I had to send a written letter and the new contract of my other insurance, which is BS. I just called the bank and put a stop payment that policy. Don't even think of choosing them, you might save 200 dollars, but trust me that American risk insurance is trash.

This is the WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER!!! DO NOT insure with them, instead you could SAVE YOUR OWN MONEY and do much better! I have been with them since 2005 when I bought my home. I NEVER FILED A CLAIM before February of this year when I filed a claim to get my roof done after a terrible hail storm in Spring Texas in April 2015. They sent an adjuster out to my home to inspect the roof, he submitted an estimate, they approved the roof for repair, but only gave me $842 towards a 9,000 estimate. No, I am not kidding you!! only $800 after 11 years of being with them.. WHAT A RIP OFF!! THEY ARE THIEVES!!! They sell the consumers a policy that they KNOW FULL WELL will not cover them for an expense like roof repair, yet they continue to take our money!! Such a policy should NOT be available at all since it allows them to steal money from us, only not to pay when we REALLY NEED THEM. PLEASE warn your loved ones, your friends, your neighbors not to throw away their money. Had someone bothered to explain this policy to me, I would have done things differently, but they DO NOT TELL YOU! After 11 years, I could have had that money in a bank account and repair my roof myself and have money left! THEY ARE THIEVES! I ONLYchose a "1star rating" because they do not have a "zero star rating" as an option. Don't give them your money.

After being insured with them for over 2 months, I receive a cancellation letter in the mail for overall roof condition . What condition is it in you wonder? Original condition just like I told them when I signed up. No issues with it whatsoever.
They mentioned I had layers of roof and they wouldn t insure roofs with more than one layer. Guess what? It has one layer! The original layer of architectural shingles. They couldn t even understand the inspection report which mentioned specifically one layer! They looked at the pic of the edge of roof and saw the architectural look of shingles and thought it was multiple layers.

Just found out that 3 other roofs we have installed for " ARI customers" the depreciation checks have not been mailed out either. They were invoiced from last year! We will never work for an ARI customers unfortunately again. OMG I got screwed. I need a new roof the adjuster came out and wrote up a estimate sent it over to the insurance company and the the insurance company lost the adjustment and someone else file. They took there time trying to find the file and once found it had been back dated it and said my total lost was March 24, 2016 and I just made a claim January 24, 2017. I'm fighting until the end. I have proof and they don't care

Although I signed an agreement with this insurance company saying I would allow someone to come inspect my home, I didn t expect it to be without any notice. When I called to express my fear that I experienced when an unannounced person showed up banging on my door in a vehicle with no business signs on it, I did not receive any support. The person was walking around taking pictures and got on our roof. I was home alone and very scared. All I asked the person answering the phones is that they give some sort of notice to homeowners at least the day/week of. I was told by representative that it is not a requirement, and no changes would be made. I ve lived in my home for 5 weeks now. Would have thought they would ve already done inspection. The company sent out to do inspection was a third party company called Reliable Reports.

Very good company, extremelygood/. With 3 days of closing on a property i lost the property due to a fire incident. The insurance company sent me a check. But due to some inconvenience they have to reissue the check, not their fault. And now, I'm just waiting on the check now.
