Deon arrived on time on a Thursday to check why my furnace had stopped. He explained what he was doing. I wasn't too surprised that the furnace needed to be replaced. He tried a temporary workaround but decided it wasn't safe. Dave came out that afternoon and presented alternatives and arranged for install on Sat.
Pyramid has done several different rounds of work on our house, including furnace work, A/C install, water heater install, gas stove maintenance, and routine maintenance. They are a professional group who communicates well, has a strong back office team, arrives on time, and does quality work. I would call them transparent and honest. We have worked with Dave (sales) and Deon (tech) and highly recommend both of them. We will continue to call on Pyramid when the need arises.
Our representative did a brilliant job clearly explaining what we needed, and why. Likewise, he didn t push us into purchasing anything we didn t actually need. For someone who doesn t understand boilers, I now have an understanding of our heating system. Prices were given upfront, and there were no hidden costs. I whole heartedly recommend this company.

Why have a chat platform and yet still have to give all your information and then have them call you and then they have all your information. If I wanted to call them I would have done it myself, but rather use chat. Pointless.
Pyramid Heating and Cooling is always on time with appointments and takes the guesswork out of our system with their preventative maintenance program. Randy was right on time, very professional, and took the time to answer all of my questions about temperature control. He also cleaned the outside of our air conditioner....it looks brand new again! We are very happy we chose Pyramid Heating and Cooling for our new home.
First off, Pyramid's customer service, flexible scheduling and response time for initial service was amazing (even during coldest day of year and snow storm aftermath) - very much appreciated! That is where the good service ended.
Our blower motor for heat/ac unit died. This part was covered under our 10 year warranty (confirmed by Pyramid, office and tech). When we got our bill it was $370. I asked the tech for the break down and was told approximately $300 for part and $70 for labor (took him 30 mins to do the work).
I was shocked that a part covered under warranty still cost $300! We called the office and they stated that the $300 was for labor, not the part cost.
That is a gnarly rate!
I am very confused. Are they price gouging us? Are they lying? Either way, be very wary with this company. After reading other reviews, this is nothing new.
All that being said, the tech was very friendly and did a great job in timely fashion. I simply question the companies business/billing practices.
The service man showed up right on time--I greatly appreciated that. He knew his stuff, and quickly and efficiently serviced the furnace and a/c. I was pleased.
The technician (Randy) was wonderful, fixed a majorly annoying issue easily and even trained us on how to spot fix it in the future so it won t get bad! Felt safe having him in my home during COVID as he took precautions and wore protective equipment. He even told me that if the problem occurs again to call them up ASAP and they will work with the manufacturer and get a replacement under warranty (although I think he fixed it, fingers crossed!) Excellent service!
Dion did a great job communicating what he was doing and what I should be doing to get the longest life at the least cost from our HVAC system. Pyramid is very fortunate to have Dion as well as Lakin Norton whom I have worked with for scheduling both our residence and commercial properties for maintenance, repairs and replacement of the full HVAC systems.

After having a new pump installed an issue came up. Pyramid sent a supervisor who replaced and reinstalled our pump. He verified that no codes were hung up in our thermostat and that everything was working properly. Excellent service!
Their $109. service fee is a racket! Didn t even find a crack in the heat exchange that the NW Naturals guy found and now want me to pay for another diagnostic.
I contracted Pyramid Heating and Cooling to do a replacement of a retrofit gas furnace in my 1920's craftsman home.
Initially the experience was quite good, as the office staff and the estimator were both quite helpful and friendly. They took plenty of time to explain my options and to help me with the required paperwork. Overall I ended up choosing them over several competing bids, and I contracted Pyramid to install an Infinity 96 condensing gas furnace. That, however, is where the good experience ended.
The installers decided to restructure the system in order to make it easier to install in the existing location, but the changes led to a system that didn't serve the needs of the building well. Ductwork was installed that occupied valuable space in my basement, and due to the proximity of the fan to the return the system ended up being louder than the builder furnace that it replaced.
Beyond the issues with the engineering of the new system was the complete lack of craftsmanship in the install. The system whistled due unplugged holes all over and around the unit, and due to recycled ductwork from my old system, presumably to save costs. In order to install the venting into my basement space without modification, the decision was made to drill the venting partially through the siding and partially through the homes original woodwork doing substantial damage to the exterior of the home. This damage was later partially repaired by the commercial arm, but never completed.
I contacted Pyramid about reinstalling the system in the original configuration, but they struggled to engineer a solution that would fit in the existing space. Once the system had been disconnected to return it to the original configuration I noted the amount of damage that had been done to the furnace itself in order for them to fit it in their original install location. Concerned with the damage to the furnace I asked them to please replace the damaged unit and install it in the original location.
Their response to this was to abandon the project and suggest that I contract another installer. Due to abandoning the project during peak install season for HVAC, I've now spent the last 6 weeks without heating or air conditioning while I contract with a competent installer with a little pride in their craft. If you have a relatively simple new construction install your experience could differ, but if it's at all complicated buyer beware.
Long story short, the office staff is great, but don't let them trick you into using their installers. I would certainly look elsewhere first.
I called to get AC put in. They came the next day for an estimate and installed SHORTLY after. They also installed our furnace about a year and a half ago. They are THE BEST!
I have used Pyramid several times for clients in the past and you get what you pay for. No scare tactics just information and recommendations.
Jared took the time to explain what might be needed to run the system at optimal performance and made arrangements to stay longer to get the job done that day, so there wouldn t be another trip charge.
Randy showed up at the appointed time and quickly started the annual maintenance of our heat pump. He was an expert on our equipment and soon it was back up and running again. And he cleaned his work area thoroughly (which some others before him have done haphazardly).

We had Pyramid out for an estimate on a new furnace and central AC. We were impressed with how thorough they were and informative about our system. They said they would send us an estimate the next day. Hours after they left, the AC unit stopped working (by the way it was 92 degrees outside). We have had no problems in the 9 years we ve lived here. We contacted them that night and they said they would work something out with us in the morning. The next morning (Friday) they told us they can t come out till Monday leaving us without AC for over 3 days in very warm weather. They said it will be $109 for them to come out but if we buy a whole new system they will deduct it from our final bill. I called back very frustrated to say this was unacceptable, the system broke on their watch. They told me it was just a coincidence and I said that was hard to believe and they probably touched something that was about to break and put it over the edge. They said they didn t touch anything and was I calling them a liar! I was being a difficult customer but this seems like bad customer relations to say this and to call me completely unreasonable. They finally said we want to make this better. I ll bend over backwards to get someone out today. No one came out after that, no one called to say when they could come out. The sales manager called to say she s concerned that I would think someone sabotaged the system. I never said that and don t believe it. But how Pyrimid handled the situation was horrible. I would never use them and you should think twice before using them. For the record, I would have been happy with them saying that they are sorry they can t come out till Monday but let me waive the $109 for the inconvenience OR we ll be out today but unless we find that we somehow caused the issue we will have to charge you $109. This could have been an opportunity to show excellent customer service and making the ~$10K sale on a whole new system. Instead they get this review.
I had called on Friday for an assessment on our dryer gas lines, they were able to fit us in that Monday which was quick. The quote was the same as the amount charged. Jared was professional, got the job done quickly and the issued was resolved! Thank you!
Deon was a very friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable technician that helped answer all of my questions. He has worked our my home's furnace before and shared with me some new areas that will need addressed soon. He also did a fantastic job with cleaning and improving my gas fireplace as well. My mini-split unit stopped cooling in early August, during those triple-digit hot days. When turned on, unit cooled for 10 min. or so, then the fan stopped and the system just hummed. I called Sky Heating, since they'd done "regular maintenance" on the system last April. They didn't know what was wrong. (See my yelp review for Sky Heating for details). So I called Pyramid. They were swamped, couldn't schedule me for a few days. But I know they are familiar with mini-splits so I said OK and took the first appointment available. Spencer was the tech they sent. How great was he? When I turned on the unit it seemed to work. Spencer said no problem, let's let it run for a while. He checked circuits, told me about the training he'd had on these units, did some cleaning as the machine continued to work PERFECTLY, darn it! Then we went outside to look at the pump. And when he opened the pump, the cooling stopped inside and the unit went into it's usual humming non-activity. So, turns out the folks doing 'maintenance' had apparently never looked at the pump - at least when I was here no one ever asked to see it. Spencer cleaned out the pump, and cool air began to flow into my hot house. And Spencer lingered a while longer to make sure nothing else was wrong. I highly recommend Spencer particularly and Pyramid in general.
TL:DR - Incorrect/Misleading diagnosis. Suggested we buy a new furnace by red flagging our furnace. Our furnace is 100% normal. We had Pyramid come give us a diagnosis on our furnace after a carbon monoxide alarm went off 1 time. The service tech wore a mask and was pleasant to deal with. The tech determined the furnace was bad by highlighting the color of the flame being orange and not blue. This was the only test he performed which should have been a red flag but I didn't know any better. After getting a second opinion from a company who is a preferred supplier of the furnace manufacturer, they confirmed there is nothing wrong with our furnace/heat exchanger. This tech used a carbon monoxide tester in the air flow and used a mirror/scope to determine the health of the furnace/exchange. The flame also stayed blue and he showed me how 'some' service techs trick people into thinking their furnace is bad by blowing into the flame causing it to be orange. I'm so incredibly happy I got a second opinion as that cost me a service charge instead of a new furnace. I really hope this tactic was not used on purpose to try and get us to buy a new furnace of a competing model manufacturer. Pyramid quoted us for a new furnace and failed to mentioned just the heat exchanger could be replaced. I understand the part would be very expensive for Pyramid to replace as they are not a Trane dealer but they could have at least given me that option. I called 2 other companies and they both suggested that pyramids initial diagnosis didn't seem right and advised I get a second opinion. One even mentioned that Pyramid was a good company so perhaps I just got a bad tech.
Judging by the other reviews, the company is great so maybe this was just a fluke. I guess the lesson is always get a second opinion.
After scrambling to find someone to fix one of our property's boilers all day, I received a prompt call back from Pyramid, who was able to put us on their calendar and get out there as soon as possible during the snow storm. Even though they weren't able to go out the same day, the were organized and easy to work with. We appreciate their time and business.
We called Pyramid after our regular service company was unable to send someone to make an emergency repair on a Sunday during an extreme cold spell. Their serviceman, Athen, called back immediately, arrived soon afterward, diagnosed the problem and fixed it quickly. We were very satisfied with his knowledge, experience and friendliness. When I needed a new water heater, Kim Wing and the team at Pyramid we're all over it. Incredibly responsive, great customer service and a quick turnaround. I'd definitely recommend Pyramid.
During the last heat spell, I turned on my airconditioning for the first time since I had a new furnace and thermostat installed by Pyramid. The air compressor did not come on, only in fan. I called Pyramid. They sent someone out the same day. The problem was that my new, "smart" thermostat and furnace and my old, dumb air compressor were not communicating with each other. It took a lot of time and troubleshooting, but in the end, I was only charged for the new air filter that I had also asked them to bring. Even though this was the correct and ethical thing to have done, since the entire system should have been workong togeather; here are many companies out there that would have tried to charge something extra anyway.
Pyramid fixed my central air. They went out of their way to come back for a separate problem a couple of weeks later. Very professional and prompt. would reccommend them to anyone.
Complete scam artists. Conned my wife into paying $200 for a service plan to avoid a $299 charge for after hours fee. They didn't even replace any parts and charged $223 for "tapping" on the furnace. These hacks made a horrible mess on install of our propane furnace and have had problems with the system throwing fault codes ever since. I usually fix it myself, but was away at work and my wife needed the heater working.

Professional, trusting, and efficient. They caught an issue with my newer furnace that I didn't even know about. Apparently during the install, it was never configured correctly to have the High turn on - only Low. Pyramid heating recognized this through a regular maintenance check and configured the unit. Handbook was hard to find online, and we didn't have one as it was a floor model installed by previous home owners. Glad Pyramid does good work.
We required two visits to repair our furnace. After being charged for the second visit, Pyramid was kind and refunded the charge for the second visit. It is rare for companies to refund customers, and for this reason, I highly recommend Pyramid for honest and professional practices.
Both Keith and Rick that showed up to tune/service my HVAC system and to clean out & sanitize all of the ductwork did a great job and we were very pleased. I will have no problem using pyramid again for our HVAC needs!

Great company,great people scheduling and doing the installs and maintenance. I bought a heating system and hot water heater from them ,ignored both for 6 years until i read in the manuals that its cheaper to maintain them than wait till they fail. So this year i called for maintenance, and Spencer the technician was great----- very thorough,and he showed me how to maintain the water heater myself. Patiently step by step ( i am not mechanically or mantenancely inclined) so i can do that myself for free. He took apart the heat system and cleaned everything and read the codes,made sure it all worked right. Great company i really trust!

Our furnace died during the coldest few days this season. Pyramid responded quickly to install a new energy efficient furnace the very next day. This is our second year having Pyramid perform annual maintenance on our furnace, A/C, and tankless water heater. The experience was great, all around. The office staff were helpful, efficient, and professional. Deon, the service technician, was friendly and knowledgeable. He did a very thorough cleaning of our furnace, (including sealing some leaks around screws and seams), AC, and tankless water heater, and when these were completed, he verified that all the systems were working well. We're very happy with the service and would definitely recommend Pyramid.
Pyramid has been a very good vendor. We just had our 12 month check in on our system. I'm sure the service man did a thorough job but when he left my husband didn't feel fully informed about our whole house ventilation system and why it should be "on" all of the time - so maybe a bit more explanation when going through the check list would be helpful. We got two quotes and Pyramid beat the other one by price and level of air conditioning unit. We are so happy we chose them and we love our air conditioner. Pyramid heating and cooling go above and beyond! 2 years ago they installed our furnace and The service and quality was excellent, but the true test comes when something needs repair quickly.
Our air conditioning unit was initially installed by another company. Turns out, it was installed improperly and was working at half capacity!
We had an inspection for our home sale and a puddle was found below our main vent in the crawl space. We had no idea what was causing this. Despite how busy it is this time of year for AC issues, and the difficult diagnosis of the problem and locating the proper parts, Pyramid stepped up, and got the parts and squeezed us in on the only day available before our home closing!

I wrote to ask if they would come to do an estimate to repair or replace my heater blower. They would not give me a straight answer regarding the estimate. Was it a free estimate? They wouldn't say. How much would they charge for the estimate? They wouldn't say. This is dishonesty from the start. They should give a straight answer to a straight question. As simple as that.
The technician just left my home having tuned up our furnace in preparation for winter. Nothing outstanding about that, but it reminded me that I had never posted any feedback about an experience I had with Pyramid earlier this summer. Our A/C unit failed on a Friday evening. I went on-line and placed a service order. Seeing a 24-hour emergency service phone number, I called and was encouraged by the young lady on the other end letting me know that she would connect my service request with a technician who would be able to get to me the next day. By 9:00 AM on Saturday, I had a phone call from the tech and by 10:30 he was pulling into my driveway. You simply can't ask for better service than that!
Prompt and courteous service on a very busy day in the PDX heating world. Educated me on my ancient system and got me up and running. Professional outfit starting with the person answering the phone, scheduler (who called me back to let me know that the service person would be earlier than originally anticipated), and finishing with a courteous and knowledgeable service technician.
