I just want to say that you have a fantastic team at the Extraordinary Kids clinic there! Dr. Tartaglia and Dr. Wilson were fantastic with my son. They were very patient with my son and did a fantastic job! They answered all of my questions, and I never felt rushed or belittled. They are very warm and it is obvious that they care deeply about what they do!

The best heart transplant team I've ever met and because of them he still alive because of them I will always appreciate a heart transplant team in Denver for saving my son's life
After posting my initial review below and receiving a response, I contacted their finance department only to know that it is a general review response and nothing could be done. Please stop giving this impression that you really take these reviews seriously and want to do something to make it better.
My initial review: The service they provide is absolutely wonderful and so impressed I setup a monthly donation for 5 years now. This was the first time we went in without insurance. A simple visit to cardiology department where a regular ECG was performed. We ended up paying $438.00 for that 15 minute visit after discounts. A complete rip off. President Trump or some federal/state department should look into this to make it affordable for lower middle class. Looking at their fee structure my donations are going somewhere else.
If I could give no star , I would. I had an appointment yesterday with the cardiologist because I ve had pain in my chest and they were supposed to make sure everything was okay with my heart. The doctor was extremely rude and didn t even do tests on me to make sure I was okay , it was a waste of time. The doctor just asked me questions and said it was probably like really ?! Why not examine me instead of guessing , unbelievable.
As of right now we have been waiting in ER for over 2 hours. We have a possible neck injury with head and neck ACH. I asked how much longer because she's complaining of her neck popping n hurts. A six year old is not going to pretend. I'm very upset at the treatment here. I'm going to find a different hospital in future.
We ve had a mix of good and bad experiences with Children s hospital. The biggest issue is that when there is a problem, and a complaint is filed- nothing is actually done. They say they investigate and communicate with the various departments involved, but there s never been an actual apology or anyone admitting they messed up. I don t believe that they take complaints seriously, even when they are valid, and as such we have lost trust in their system. Their concern seems to be their own liability and avoiding any ownership for errors verses actually protecting patients and making changes to protect future patients. The advocates aren t there for the patients, they are there for the hospital.
Thank you to all the staff who made our visit to your hospital easy. You all took care of my daughter like she was one of your own and put my anxiety at ease. I will forever be grateful to each and everyone of you.
I am very disappointed in the care I have received here. My daughter has been admitted for 36 hours and has only been visited by one doctor. She has a persistent cough and their treatment is to have us put her in a bed and then hope she will get better through ignorance. We have brought the issue up to three nurses, 1 charge nurse and 1 resident. Each time they tell us they are sorry and the team will be in soon. For some reason the team never comes in. I couldn t be more disappointed, I am paying an extremely amount to come to the best and all we are getting is ignored. It s too bad.
These guys didnt even notify of a bill, sent my file to a known criminal collection agency and has ruined my family, we are almost homeless because of them but HEY they got there money right. There only concern is not the children but the money they can make off your love for them. I will NEVER EVER take my kids here again.
i hated them care i got at Children s Hospital!! i went in to the ER after not being able to drink or eat without severe pain and pain and nausea and i was severely dehydrated and couldn t walk. they admitted me and forced me to eat without stronger pain meds other than tyleonl and then accused me of ARFID. (an eating disorder) and they threatened to put me in a 6 month inpatient eating disorder clinic. i refuses and they sent me to a doctor who specializes in ARFID and he told me that i absolutely did NOT have ARFID i even took the ED test for him. he is still my doctor and i love him he is super great but he couldn t believe they diagnosed me with that. i am now being tested for this super rare thing called MALS syndrome when i was there that we brought up to them to be tested for while i was there but they told me that it s too controversial and that it wasn t a real thing. but i am now being tested for it by another GI that has nothing to do with children s hospital. all children s GI s have sucked and diagnosed me with stupid thing that s dont make sense cause they have no clue what i have. they definitely did not try there hardest to help me.
I always feel that myself as well as my child are valued when we go to Children's. We are both always treated with care and respect. Everyone actually truly cares about YOU! You can feel it the moment you walk in the door. I would never take my child anywhere else.
I have gone here for a few doctor s appointments. In my opinion, it is a friendly environment for children. The main level includes an entertaining ball structure. A play area for ages eight and under welcomes younger children to play during a sibling s doctor s appointment. A great place for your child(ren) s doctor s appointments.
Our son was diagnosed with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia on Sept. 18, 2018 at 20 weeks gestation. It was a terrifying diagnosis with several possible outcomes, which is not at all reassuring. From the moment we were referred to CHC, we knew our son would be getting the best possible care. Our very first meeting with his care team was a relief. We received pertinent information and they created the best plan for our son. They explained everything concisely and never made us feel as if any question were unwelcome. Every time we had an appointment predelivery, our fears were put at ease. Not entirely gone because this is a devastating disease and not every baby survives it. But we were confident that they would do no less than their absolute best to make sure our baby survived and thrived. Our confidence in Dr. Marwen and the rest of our son s care team was not mislaid. From our very first appointment we knew they cared about our son. The labor and delivery team were amazing too. I feel it went much better than it would have anywhere else. And our son was taken care of from the moment he was born. Immediately after birth the plan from his care team started to unfold exactly the way they said. Our son spent 71 days in the NICU. At one week old, Dr. Marwen performed the surgery to repair our son s herniated diaphragm. The surgery went very well, mainly because of the expertise of our son s surgical team. Every time our son achieved a victory, his care team couldn t have been more excited for him. Our son had very few setbacks. I feel that he had so few because of how wonderful his care team was. They took such amazing care of him from day one. Every doctor and nurse and clinical assistant and respiratory therapist had fantastic bedside manner. I imagine that his follow up appointments will be comprised of the same care as he and our whole family have already received. Thank you all for what you have done for our baby. And thank you, Children s, for having such an excellent CDH program. -Rhianna and Ken Colvin
My 12 year old son needed a somewhat simple procedure to be done. It required an IV. He had a bit of anxiety about this. A virtual reality headset was given to him prior to inserting the IV. He didn t even know when the IV was inserted and had zero problems. It was such a wonderful distraction and the staff at this hospital were so kind and accommodating. They made him so relaxed and comfortable. We had a great experience.
Do Not bring your child here! One star is too many! Terrible administrative and insurance verification department which made us lose our 6 month awaited appointment. They forgot to check our insurance and that it is out of network with them demanding 200$ cash deposit before seeing my daughter telling me it will be another 1000$ or more out of our own pocket. I could have looked for another doctor instead of wasting our time and getting her the medical attention my daughter needs. More concerned about getting their payment convered than the health of the patient herself. So much for medical care. The money thirsty institute does not give a dime about your health and well-being. Such shame they are put in charge of 'care' to people. They should be in hotel business. Will never bring my children here.
One of my God daughters witch is a DIDI twin that was born at 27 weeks was brought in by her mother. That was admitted for have the Rhinovirus and was having problems breathing. I feel horrible because I referred her to the same hospital that my daughter that had CP. My daughter gets all her services at your hospital. I am extremely disappointed in this hospital. From the time she got there they have had nothing but problems. From letting her go hungry for hours, putting tubes down her throat wrong. Nurses have no bed side matter, no empathy to not having no compassion at all for the parents. In this stressful situation. The mother and father was extremely uncomfortable with even leaving the child alone in the Nicu because of the unprofessional treatment that was happening The male respiratory therapists being extremely ruff and when the father tried to express his concern about his daughter the male respiratory therapist became extremely combative. He had no empathy at all. Then the night shift head nurse Had the never to have the parents put out over a personal disagreement. The father left willingly. But that wasn't good enough. The head nurse forced the mother to leave. The head nurse was rude, Inconsiderate and disrespectful. She was unwilling to let the mother show her the exact way to make daughters bottles that her Pediatricians request. Then she tried to tell her she couldn't see her daughter for 48 hours. Which isn't going to happen. Because she hasn't been alone not once and because of the unprofessional treatment from the bringing. Then when the mother ask to have the paper work inregaurds to having her daughter transferred. She been asking to have her daughter transferred to Rock Mountain children's hospital because that is where the were born. And they know exactly what is going on with them. The head nurse denied her any information concerning the transfer. The hospital security even intervened asking the head nurse just to give her the information that she need. Then escorted out. Sadly having to leave one of her didI twin alone with unprofessional, inconsiderate, disrespectful nurses and staff. That made her feel unsafe to leave her daughter under the care of the Nicu nurses and staff alone. I'm honestly rethinking my daughter's care at your hospital. I'm truly heartbroken that this happen to her at your hospital. That I spoke so highly of. I hope you can find way to help with bedside matters.
My experience on third floor was horrible. I had a nurse give tyonal and granite its tyonal but my son cant take it its on the meds list as do not give, when i asked bout it she said she was worried cause he appeared to be in pain but no assessment was done and that if i was a good parent id let HER do what is right. Im a 5 year corpsmen for the navy and am no dummy when it comes to medical. When i told them that i wanted to leave with my son to a real hospital they called a charge nurse that started threaten me to the point i had to call security on her. The security was a good guy a vet and explain to them about corpsmen and how its not best intrest of her or hospital to threaten vets. This hospital believes they are in right of all the parents advocates are not that but for the hospital. The hospital also believes theybare the only one to make calls in the care of the patients and parents are "in the way" as one doc said to me. Its a learning school and the doctor tried to do a lung tap for what he BELIEVED was fluid on lung but was guessing, when asked how did you come up with that he said im a fellow i know.
My daughter was admitted into the PICU for two weeks followed by another two weeks in a regular room. I can t say how thankful I am for the care she received during the most difficult time of our lives. I truly feel like she received the best care available. When it comes to life or death situations, this is a place I would want my child to be. We loved most of our doctors, nurses and other staff we had contact with.
First of all this is an uncomfortable review to write because I am sure there are many very talented and life-saving physicians treating very sick kids at Children's. However, my experience in trying to find behavioral/psychological services for my teenage son was so awful that I have to alert others.
First if you are in my position you already know how hard it is to find services, especially if you are low-income. I spent an entire day (6 solid hours) talking to Children's and encountered the same compartmentalization, bureaucratic attitude, misinformation and lack of compassion from multiple people.
I will tell you what I learned as for me it was a wasted day and there is no sense in anyone else going through that. First, I had called there about a year ago looking for an Asperger's assessment. I was told the wait was two and a half years. I could not believe my ears. That is ridiculous! So i had completely ruled out Children's for any services. But then a therapist told me she had a client who got her son in for behavioral treatment in two months (still ridiculous but not insane) so I thought I'd try again.
I was really surprised and pleased when I was given an appointment in just a few days. But then over the course of the day and talking to various people it turned out that the appointment i was given was in their medical unit for medical problems. This despite me being very clear about the reason I called and what I was looking for. My son already has a primary physician and I was told all that a referral would be given us for psychological/behavioral issues. I explored getting those referrals on the phone but no one knew any so i just cancelled the appointment.
Next I started looking for a parenting support group and I was sent to Parent's Smart which after four transfers I learned was a referral source for parents with physically ill children.
Then I started pursuing talking to someone directly in the behavioral or psyche units. They were so compartmentalized: nurses, social workers, operators, volunteers that no one has any idea what other departments are doing. At one point I asked a nurse if she could just call another unit and ask what services were available and she was very snippy and hung up on me. Finally I was sent to Rita Brinkman an insurance expert at Children's. (she was really awful) who told me that my son was not covered for services. I had already spoken to the insurer and been informed that he was. I repeatedly asked for e-mails confirming what I was being told but everyone refused. I also was told I would get calls from other people, but never did.
I would say that the infrastructure of the hospital is so disjointed and populated by really uncaring people that any treatment experience there other than medical would be terrible.
One of the reviews on this site is written my a doctor who was also disgusted by the treatment he got there as a prospective patient. The only nice woman I talked to all day was an employee who after trying to get her teenage son treatment there took him somewhere else. I think that says it all.
This hospital is essentially a second home to me. Due to my medical issues I tend to come here frequently. The staff here is amazing, helpful, and very friendly. When in a serious situation the staff respect the parents and patients decision. Sometimes even in life or death. When the patient turns 18, they try to inform the child/patient of his/her responsibilities and rights. The location is amazing next to a very busy area. The hospital is also very modern. One thing to note though is that in emergency room if the patient isn't in a extreme situation you'll be forced to wait. Granted an emergency for one might not be one for the physicians. But overall however it is the best of the best. Definitely recommend bringing your child here.
I never take the time to do these but I have had it with this emergency room. The doctors seem nice but they don't care how long they keep you up. I feel like they take their time because they think we have nothing better to do. If it's an emergency don't bring your children here but if you have time to burn this is the place to go.
Barbara Davis is ok. They don't have the TRUE centers address on the website though. Just the one for Barbara Davis. They are not the same building and we only go about 3 times a year. Tried to google it today and only got the Barbara Davis address. I wasted gas having to turn around and backtrack and was almost late for an appointment when I realized where it was sending me.
My wife booked a routine allergy test for our son. The staff was great. The skin allergy test was completed quickly, and competently. Our allergy suspicions were confirmed by the end of the appointment.
Prior to the exam, I did a quick Google search for the cost of skin-allergy testing. It showed a range of $60-$300. Since we have Cigna PPO, I assumed our bill would be a portion of that price range. That is what I budgeted for.
I was shocked, to get a the bill of $1800! For a scheduled allergy appointment? This was not a surgery, or emergent procedure! After insurance processing, my portion of the bill was $1000.
For a test that should cost a maximum of $300, I was financially unprepared for the amount charged, and my portion of that charge.
Lesson learned: Do not use Children's Hospital for routine exams/testing.
They always make sure the kids have something to do. Excellent doctors converse to make sure the best possible care is given to the patients. A lot if thought went into the design with aesthetics that are eye pleasing and interesting.
My daughter had her tonsils out here. The anesthesiologist lied to me about his experience level. When I accompanied my daughter into the OR it was easy to tell that he had very little experience. He didn't even know how to place a mask on my daughter's face without help. I placed a complaint and all that happened was the doctors involved lied to cover their ass. The hospital told me there was nothing else they could do. If I can't trust a doctor to be honest with me, how can I expect them to take proper care of my daughter when I'm not in the room. Also, if they can't take responsibility for their mistakes and they choose to lie to cover them, I don't want them near my daughter. I will never be going to Childrens again.
The wait times are horrible. They called us to come to the appointment early and a hour later still sitting here while they see everyone else. Also now are being told instead of a dr apptmnt he has several.
The night nursing staff in the NICU were terrible when my 7 day old son was admitted. I m an RN myself & worked 6 years in a major children s hospital & would have never treated patients this way: 1. Night nurses seemed incompetent & unfriendly. The nurse just left important medication on my sons crib, I guess expecting his overly exhausted parents to give it until the morning nurse found it there not given. 2. They were frequently on their personal phones & I know they weren t looking up anything medical as they had computers right in front of them. 3. Terribly poor communication between medical staff & patient. We had to wait hours to receive any updated info that was time sensitive even after I asked many times.
The worst hospital and staff we have ever witnessed. Michelle alletg is the rudest doctor. She is condescending and made smirky remarks toward us. They did lab work without our consent. Stay far far away from this hospital!!!!! They didn't communicate with us at all....even though, they are committed to communicating all options apparently. We had no idea when they took my sons blood that they didn't get enough and then they didn't even tell us that we weren't being discharged and were going to have to do it again....Just sent a nurse in with more needles(when it wasn't even necessary to draw his blood in the first place)
If I could give this place zero stars I would. The staff in the E.R. we're rude and incompetent. I will be taking my autistic son elsewhere for mental health help next time.
Great Pediatric intensive care unit. Doctors and nurses we re incredibly attentive to my daughters needs. Doctors and nurses included me in my daughters care, with deep concern for both my daughters and my health. Great hospital, I have transferred all of my daughters medical care to children s hospital. I drive 1 and a half hours to get the best are for my baby daughter.
Super friendly staff. There were 12 other families to be seen before us and they were checked in quickly. We did not wait long in line at all. We finally made it out of the hospital 3 hours after check in but with all the people in front of us I expected it to be longer. Not bad for a hospital this busy. Today is the first day of our vacation for my kids spring break and now I'm confident that the rest of the week will go great.
We were very disappointed by our experience at Children's Hospital. We were originally referred to Children's Hospital by our pediatrician for a hernia on our one month old son. Due to my son's age, Children's Hospital wanted to wait on the repair surgery. Children's did not want to repair the hernia until my son was six months old. At the time of the original appointment, the hernia did not seem to be bothering my son too much. However, over the course of the next two months, my son's hernia kept getting bigger and started to cause him a lot of pain. It had gotten to the point that my son was no longer able to sleep or lie down without screaming. I repeated called Children's Hospital explaining the situation. However, they still refused to do anything until my son was older. Due to the poor condition of our son, we were then referred by our pediatrician to another urologist for a second opinion. After seeing our son, the other urologist discovered that the hernia was becoming incarcerated and recommended a repair as soon as possible. We were able to get the hernia repaired within two days after getting our second opinion. Had we not gotten a second opinion, we most likely would have ended up having emergency surgery on our three month old which would have been a much more high risk procedure. We were very disappointed by how we were treated by Children s Hospital. We wish that they would be willing to treat patients on a case by case basis rather than issue blanket diagnosis and wish that they had taken the time to actually listen to us regarding what was going on. Had they done that, they would have realized that my son s condition was more serious and would not have made my son suffer in pain for two months.
The Doctor visit for my son was fine, but the after visit customer service has been abysmal. I have received three bills from them, all different and no one seems to do anything about it. They say they don t have insurance information, yet I checked in and payed my copay. Clowns could run the billing department better.
If you like your hard earned money, take your children elsewhere. I will not be returning here and will drive out of state if I have to, to avoid coming here again.
My daughter had to have surgery because dislocated her clavicle and it was pushed against a vessel after 4 wheeler wreck. For the most part everything was great. Except a couple of things one being they did not making sure her ice bags were staying filled and ready for her since she had several injuries that required ice. Also one of the nurses when my daughter received an antibiotic made it seem like she was over reacting cause she said it was burning her hand going in and instead of trying to listen to her she told her everything was fine but everything was not fine. She hardly cried and but this burning pain was hurting her. Also we don t know what therapist or doctor does things we have questions like lots I mean our daughter had surgery and we needed to know everything we can getting responses like well that s not my department so I can t help you was crappy. I get it s not your area but maybe a better response would be I am not to sure about those things but let me direct you to the right person. She is our Kid so of course we want to make sure she has everything she needs to make the best recovery possible. Sometimes it just felt like we were the problem. I will give a shout to an RN names Christie she made my daughter feel more comfortable and like she was cared for. She even assisted me with getting her gown so she could have a sponge bath. Even encouraged it. While others told us it isn t a worry... she crashed lake water she was itchy and uncomfortable especially after 3 days of not bathing her hair was matted. I appreciate Christie not discouraging us on the sponge bath. She even helped to make sure my daughter had what she need med wise for our drive home. That made us feel like someone. Genuinely cared for. We do appreciate the doctors who completed her surgery. This was a very scary things for us cause she is visiting her grandparents while we live in Arizona and wrecking in a different state was hard for us. We are happy that everyone was on top of it and got her the best treatment she could get. The food though they hardly got the order correct and instead of asking us if we were going to pay for the extra meals because we had our other kids with us they decided just to not bring it. We were willing to pay extra but they just didn t even bother to ask they made the decision for us and getting several of our orders incorrect sucked. Hopefully they find a better system. And learn to verify everything with the families.
The ER don't care about the well being of a child. been here for 2hrs my son has a fever he's been coughing throwing up and all the lady can tell me is the sickest goes first you cant see my son isn't feeling good just like all the other kids that got pushed right in front of all the other kids that has been waiting to be seen. How do you know that the other kid is sicker then the other nobody is even taking temperatures when you check in
Without speaking on specifics to our stay (multiple days in-patient + several doctors appointments) this Children s Hospital is amazing! The services are great but what really makes this place the best are the people. Highly recommend for the genuine care they provide to their patients across all teams including radiology, specialists, nurses, and support staff. Thank you to the teams that make this place special for our loved ones that are here regardless of what brought them here.
Had very bad experience here but was told it got better. Decided to call the nurse line to seek medical advise on my 5 year old autistic son with a GI problem. Info was taken but wasn't informed that it was over an hour for a call back!! My son has a serious medical history as told to thier call taker and had to seek other help after waiting for over an hour for no response! These are our children and thier health and safety matters! Personally may be for some but noe I'm convinced Childrens isn't a good place for us
I've been in the emergency room for over two hours on top of that there was a young boy who clearly had a broken arm and crying and he's been waiting for over 45 minutes Plus a baby girl who is throwing up and crying and she's been waiting for about 45 minutes as well .
This hospital is outstanding. The staff is helpful and friendly and are all extremely good at their jobs. The rooms are clean and spacious. They are so accommodating and go above and beyond to make you comfortable. You can really feel how big their hearts are and how much they genuinely care about each of their patients. We had a very scary experience, as many parents / patients do, but each person from the doctor to the housekeeping to the maintenance staff made us feel relaxed and secure. Absolutely the best experience under scary circumstances.
We live in Montrose, Colorado and our 9 year old son was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumor in 2015 at Children's Hospital. From the moment we checked-in, after driving through the night, we really felt like the staff cared and understood the scary position we were in because they were so kind. A few days later our son had surgery to remove the tumor and thanks to the amazing skills of Dr. Handler, his neurosurgeon, it was completely removed. Not only was Dr. Handler a great surgeon, but he was very personable and made a very scary experience for our son and family less so. The nurses and therapists that treated our son in the ICU and elsewhere during his recovery were awesome and made the experience as positive as it could be. He has returned many times for MRI's and checkups and our experience with his Neuro-Oncologist, Dr. Green, and the Radiology Department have been great every time. They have been responsive when setting up appointments or calling with questions about symptoms. We feel blessed to have this incredible regional facility in Colorado!
I recently had surgery here and as a teenager I was a quite nervous but after having several doctors and nurses come in and tell me what their role was and how they were going to help me. I had 2 nurses 2 doctors and my surgeon come in and help me out. I also had a very nice women come in who was a part of Child s Life and she talked me through it and showed me everything and even gave me a stress ball for free. Yes it is expensive I d believe but so is anywhere else and I d highly recommend no matter the prices or the reviews this place was fantastic and very helpful and I m without words to describe their kindness
Worst experience with the ER ever!!! We took our 3 year old son in because he fell and hit his head just wanted to make sure he was ok with a huge knot on his head, we sat for 2 1/2 hours and there was barely anyone in the ER. Finally a doctor came in... for 2 minutes gets called away... we sat for another 39 minutes waiting for someone called the nurse in which took them almost 10 minutes after hitting the button so good thing our son wasn t in really bad shape or something worse could of happened!! 10 minutes to respond to the button!!! Unreal!!! Nurse comes in we are like is someone going to check him or??? She has an attitude and says well we will be in when we can. We wait for 30 minutes before walking out... we get a text 2 1/2 hours later that someone will be in shortly that would have been a total of waiting almost 5 hours for someone to see our son!! Shame on you and your staff!!! There was many nurses when we walked out and about 15 people just talking to each other doing nothing!!! Pathetic!!!
This hospital and staff was amazing they saved my little moonbeams life I recently gave this hospital a bad review and I am deeply apologetic for my ignorance my daughter has extreme food allergies and this hospital and Drs and staff went above and beyond to work with us and these very complex surgery I am forever greatful for saving Moonbeams life they even made special accommodations for our whole family to stay together through the whole 4 day event thank you thank you please forgive an ignorant man for a terrible review prior to this surgery I cant thank you all enough
I had the best experience when I was here a few years ago as a 14 year old! This place inspired me to pursue a career in nursing! I will forever be grateful to had been taken care of here!
Our daughter sees Dr. Carla Torres- Zegarra in the Dermatology dept at the Aurora location. Our daughter really likes her, she is sooo nice caring really patient with our daughter and is a awesome doctor. We recommend her for anyone needing to see a Dermatologist. If i could give her 10+ stars I would!!!!
I'm sure CH does a wonderful job. But I can't afford to go there. I took my autistic son to ONE appointment. It cost $647 from Childrens, and $748 from CU Medicine. Total $1,395. After insurance, I owe Childrens $420.55, and CU $198.90. Total $619.45. ONE APPT COST $1,395. Jesus. We don't qualify for Medicade even though I'm laid off and we now have no insurance. When I called CH & CU, they said I could get a payment plan. That's still the same balance due, just over time. If you can afford CH & CU, it's probably great.
Horrible experience and poor customer service, no respect for the patients waiting over five hours; is like you wanna be seen? Well wait! ; they don t even try to hurry the process, for us we got there at 10:40pm on a Saturday and didn t get to be call til 2:34am, Doc show up, it last about 15-20 min got medicine, thank God didn t have to get admitted, and just for the paperwork to get ready so we can leave we waited again til 4:00am, that was a joke!
It was 95% awesome service. You have a very select few staff that think they have to be respectful to patients. But the majority wins on their services provided!!
Childrens Hospital failed our family. We came in with a 2 year old with a high fever. Childrens Hospital had us sit in an ER Room for hours waiting...In 19 hours, we had 2 blood tests one blood culture to find out that our son just had a Virus a "cold"...Childrens Hospital then took advantage of the fact that we had health insurance and charged nearly $15,000!!!!!! That's nearly $1000/hour for a common cold. We will never go to this hospital again. We are asking for an explanation for which we have not received a response because this hospital cares more about "surprise billing" and making money than true patient care.
Just want to say that I am SO grateful for the fast turnaround on my daughter's Covid test (negative thankfully)! After calling around to many places that were quoting up to 10 days' wait on results, Children's got our results to us in well under 24 hours (although they said it could take up to 72 hours). Plus the drive-up test was easy, friendly, and professional. The only frustrating part was the hours on hold to get the appointment, but in the end it was worth it for the very fast turnaround time. Thank you!!!
So disappointing. I have always supported Children's Hospital. I donate every year and have never had a complaint, however yesterday was a nightmare. My daughter had surgery on the 24th of January at the South Campus in Highlands Ranch which went good. I had called the number on the paper sent home on Friday because I had a concern that my daughter had a bloody nose that lasted longer than normal and just wanted to confirm it was okay as of course no parent wants a complication after the surgery and the number states don't hesitate to call. Well the first problem was I called at 5am and was told that I would get a call back no later than an half hour past my call. Well at 9am I called again because I never received a call back. Long story short after going over all the information they had decided it would be better for my daughter to be checked which of course as a parent safe is better than sorry. They expressed that I must go right away and I must go to the Aurora Campus. I am assuming because they didn't have the correct staffing at the South Campus. Upon arriving the waiting room was filled with children with the flu. Thinking we would be checked right in because they assured on the phone everyone knew were were coming. WRONG they had us sit in the absolutely gross waiting room with all these sick children for an hour while my daughter had just had surgery on Wednesday. I was not thrilled not only did they make it urgent that I drive all the way to that campus but to then have us wait in that environment absolutely not okay. It gets better, once we got back to the room what a joke. The room was disgusting. Walls are tinted in black, counters had wrappers from medical equipment laying there, sheets where dirty on the bed, there was a bloody cotton ball under the bed. At this point I was fuming. The supposed specialist that came in basically admitted that she just had lasic surgery so couldn't see really well but after looking at my daughter she looked fine? How would you know you just said you couldn't see. We addressed this concern with the MD that saw my daughter first and her response, "I just work here". Really you as a doctor approve these conditions for being a children's hospital. She then advised us to call a patient advocate. I of course did this right away. All they do is take down your concern and that is as far as it goes is the computer system if they even save it.
Don't waste your time on a robot response to this review saying how you value and are sorry. Guess what actually take action. Plenty of donations go to this hospital and you can't even get it clean?
This hospital was not like this several years ago as I experienced a great hospital 8 years ago when I needed it for my son which made me believe in this hospital and was why we started donating several years ago. After this visit, however it is obvious that the priorities back then are not a priority now and is really sad that I will never go back to this campus and wonder if I will donate moving forward.
I am still mad that my daughter was put in this situation.
Personally in children, the attention they have given to my daughters has been the best since we began to visit the Aurora facilities, my daughters improved their health 100% and I thank the doctors who gave my daughters and all the health back personal,
The staff is always amazing from caring to treatment. No matter who is on call or who we come into contact with. My grandson has Sickle Cell disease so we've become acquainted with the ER, Hematology Clinic, & Special Care Clinic. I find peace in knowing that he's being taken care of to the best of the staffs ability. God bless you all!
Well when I was 6 in 2010, I was diagnosed with: Burkitts Lymphoma. I was cared for so much and the people are just excellent, and nice. They pushed me through this time and now I have been Cancer free for 6 years! Since then I have raised money, and been one of the honored heroes for LLS or Lukeima, Lymphoma Society! They also have good food and have amazing Jalapeno popcorn! BTW: They have a cool Lego model of the hospital on the 4th... or maybe 5th floor! Thanks Guys, you saved me!!!!
I have taken my daughter to the clinics here for years, but the cost for even basic diagnostic test are extremely high. She had a cold but was checked for influenza. The influenza nasal swab cost $438.87, which was not covered by her office visit. Let that sink in - bring your kid in for a fever and a cough, and go home with that kind of a bill. The last time she had a fever like this it was after hours so we took her to king soopers in store clinic - where it cost $30 for the visit (ins. Co-pay) and $35 for the influenza test. $400 less than Childrens hospital. I'm looking into other covered clinics for her primary care now and I'm very disappointed in Childrens hospital.
Trapped my wife in there with are daughter for two days. They invite the ex to come see the daughter he molested. Would not help us with protection at all. Run from this place
We cannot say enough great things about the care we've received from the Spine Institute doctors, nurses and staff. From the way they treat our daughters, with respect and intelligence, to the incredibly loving care we received in 2013 for our daughter's spinal fusion surgery. At Children's, they might only treat children, but they take care of the entire family.
I used to think so highly of this hospital. Until they billed be over $15,000 for a surgery that didn t happen. I ve never heard of such ridiculousness. So not only was the condition which spurred the idea of surgery not corrected, I m $2000 poorer (after insurance). I ll be taking our services elsewhere in the future.
I called in several times to discuss how the charges had to be inflated somehow. I was told that if I didn t start paying, it would go into collections. I asked if I could find a way to pay it in full that day, if they could reduce the charge. They said no. I ve never heard of a place that would rather get a monthly payment for FIFTEEN months at the lowest possible amount than a payment in full minus a few hundred dollars, but go figure. A 15 month payment is what you ll get!
My child has epilepsy. I have to say that the Neurology/Neuro Science Department has been a godsend for my child and my family. After going through other neurologists, The epileptologists at Children's was able to help my child. She is no longer having as many episodes as she had before and is more stable. The staff at this hospital is so helpful. I don't mind that I have to drive over an hour to get to the hospital because I would do whatever is necessary for my child to receive the care that this hospital already provides.
The place is nice and so are the people but every time I go there to get blood drawn I leave with a bruise. One time I left with 2 HUGE bruises on BOTH arms that took 2 months to heal and a small one! The nurse dug AROUND under my skin before swapping arms to repeat then went a little lower before finding an area to draw blood! That's ridiculous! Either get nurses that know how to do their jobs or find a way to not give every kid that shows up a bruise.
I've been bringing my kids here since the first one was born 10 years ago, mostly a good hospital with little complaints except for recently. The last time we were here there was a giant fight right in the middle of the waiting room and we waited almost 4 hours to be seen. This time I am writing this as I sit in the waiting room going on 6 (SIX) HOURS. When I asked the nurse about how much longer we would be waiting she responded with " I'm sorry, we have alot of kids who are actually sick". She doesn't think that I WANT to wait this long for fun right?! I have literally NEVER waited at ANY hospital in ANY of the multiple states we lived in for this long. Please, for the sake of the kids... get it together.
I m still in awe reading some of these negative reviews. But my guess is a lot of those people leave lots of negative reviews, nasty comments & are generally complainers... we all know those people .... unfortunately everybody thinks they re a Kardashian & can t contemplate real world anymore. With that said.... this is an ***update review*** from my original. My son came to this hospital by air ambulance from Wyoming, in what we now know as adrenal crisis. My son and our whole blended family was treated so well! We were there for a week & the only complaint I could find if I was an absolute claude is that housekeeping wasn t always on top of garbage etc.... but our room was always full of people etc which made it difficult for them. The more I hear in support groups, other parents experiences at other hospitals; I am reminded of how WONDERFUL this hospital was!!! They even had a specialist come teach us how to properly administer my sons life saving shot. This will always be my hospital of choice when my son ends up in crisis or needs to be hospitalized for anything! Most of the complaints are from people who s children had minor issues that could have/should have been taken care of by your pediatrician in an office setting; so don t get upset because people didn t jump for a cold or a broken wrist when there are children trying not to die, right upstairs. this Hospital! And the cafeteria!!
I can't wait till the day I never have to see these people again. If possible go to Los Angeles Children's hospital . They cannot handle influxe of clients due to so many people moving here so quality goes down . Record them with you phone cause it's your word against theirs when they get caught not following protocol. Ranked number five ya right. What a joke
..so I was 10 minutes late for a appt due to traffic and accident right in front of me. The doctors that I waited 8 weeks to see made it his policy if we are 10 minutes late that he won't see it and the next appointments available in January. So we have to wait 20 minutes to be seen that's okay but since I have an accident right in front of us I'm Sol wow great service there Benjamin Corbett
We have been so happy with Dr Sayan De and his ortho surgery team at Colorado Children's Hospital! Each visit has been timely positive and helpful! Each time he has sat down with us at an appointment, he's been interested in progress and how my daughter is feeling and open to any questions that we have had regarding care or healing or next visits.
When I ask questions he is very detailed with his answer, and when I ask him to send a MyChart message with the details or referral or test results, he or a member of his team does it quickly and efficiently.
We have so much enjoyed working with this wonderful surgeon and his team! My daughter had a triple arthrodesis and scheduling, pre-op, testing and imaging, phone calls and contacting his staff as well as the actual surgery and hospital stay and everything within the orthopedic team's control was seamless and easy.
From making the surgery date the first week in October until Monday December 7th getting her cast off and being turned over to PT for maintenance and continued strengthening... All of the appointments in between were fabulous and very helpful. I cannot say enough good things about this team!
This is the secound time Iv had a bad experiance in the ER. They have no compassion what so ever . You obviously go there for their expertise. Vibes are everything and if you have no compassion when my son is likley having a asthama attack coughing very irritable and all you can do with a irittated look is stair at him like you never seen a child expecially toddler act out . The way I was asked questions felt like they were very bothered . So before even seeing a doctor I grabed my son and went to another ER. The last time I went with my daughter they make you feel as if you are wasting their time . You would think it would be the total opposite. Its not fun having a sick baby or a toddler with asthma us parents go there for comfort that all is going to be ok not to be treated as if your unwelcome ...Never again will I bring my babies to this place .
We have spent a lot of time this past few months in the burn clinic mostly and the staff is always helpful and friendly. They have helped us make the best out of a bad situation and I couldn't be more grateful for the amazing team we have had fixing our sons hand. I have nothing but great things to say!
My son was hospitalized due to severe weight loss three years ago. It has taken us this long to recover from the negative affects of his stay in Children's. Although his weight loss was caused by severe gut dysbiosis, and despite the fact that we gave the hospital staff plenty of explanation about the situation surrounding his weight loss, we were instead treated as though our son had anorexia or bulimia. He was treated as a criminal, not allowed to use the bathroom without the door left ajar. In fact, the bathroom was locked and we had to call staff if he had to use it. The trauma of how he was treated during his stay caused post traumatic stress affects that were detrimental over the next year and that are only now beginning to heal. The hospital was able to raise his weight up to a healthier level, but they did nothing to treat the underlying cause and did a pretty substantial amount of damage as well. After much trial and error we now have our son on a GAPS diet and he is finally, for the first time, showing signs of greatly improved health.
Over the past few months, my youngest sister has been dealing with kidney pain. The pain has been a source of various "issues" and has had some struggle figuring out what exactly the problem is. She has had multiple surgeries and there still was no resolution to the problem. In the last week, the doctors at Children's Hospital think they have solved and completed the issue.
My grandmother arrived today from Arizona to help attend to Maddie. As we were at dinner, my mother had the chance to finally share some experiences that she had. The one the impacted me the most was about this guy she met in the elevator. She stated that many times people would want to be alone when they got into the elevator. There was one time that was different because this guy wanted to be in the elevator with my mother and talk to her. She started to talk to my mother and asked what was wrong with her child. She told him what was wrong with Maddie and proceeded to ask what was wrong with his child. He told her that his child had a port, meaning he had cancer. Both of them had some small talk, and then right as my mom was leaving, the man said, "Wait, whats your daughters name?" My mother told him and she asked what was his son's name. He told her that his name was Calvin. Right as my mom was leaving he said, "I'll pray for Maddie!" and my mother said that she would pray for Calvin.
At this point in the story, I lost it.. I started crying (much like I am now typing this) and it really made me understand the power prayer and people have. This gentleman knew nothing about my family or my sister. He just was curious about a simple story and cared enough to give love and support to Maddie and my mother. Even when his child is suffering, he still gave back and said he would pray for a complete stranger.
When my mother told me the story it melt my heart because it meant to much that some random guy actually cared and hoped that my sister would be okay and heal. The support that he gave to my family, as small as it is, really means a lot. If he were to ever read this, I would like to thank him and hope he knows that I will think and cherish that moment for the rest of my life. I also think that Children's Hospital does great things, and the staff there are phenomenal! The outcome of many children would be very different if it weren't for the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Children's.
Just the simple act of caring can take people so far. Even at the darkest and lowest moment, when people genuinely care about people, it can mean the world of a difference. I would challenge you to genuinely care about others and show compassion to most around you. Everyone at Children's does just that! I have witnessed when others show compassion and gratitude, they are happier and create an impact on others lives. Thank God for everything that you have and the great health that you have.
I would also ask that you pray for Calvin for a full recovery! God does great things for great people and his family is simply great!
I was there today around 11am with my son Diego and as the day keeps going i keep wondering how come the person that took the metal nails from my son elbow said he didn't need it and did not apply anesthesia??? He went thru A LOT of pain that was unnecessary i believe, as in 2020 there are options :( HE IS ONLY 6 YRS OLD AND THAT WAS SO PAINFUL Something I think could have been avoided. I have a picture of the nails before so you can see how they looked plus he said they were not inside that for me was confusing as i had been told they day of the surgery they were gonna be inside but I believed him my bad, as when he pulled them out I realized how long they were and felt so bad for my Son because I allowed that!...
Children's is supposed to be this world class cancer center and boasts successful hart surgery on newborns. Why then did they screw up something so elementary as my broken knee? I was treated as a waste of space and time because I just had a "bruise." Because of their misdiagnosis, I ended up walking on my leg broken in three places. This caused further damage and has required me to have multiple surgeries as an adult to fix problems that could have been avoided. Some aspects of my knee had to be removed because they were beyond repair. I am still suffering many years later from the negligence of Children's.
we are continually impressed with the focus that Children's has on our child and our family. The entire team takes the time needed and asked for during all of our visits.
Children's hospital may be packed. The wait times may be long. Parking may be a nightmare. There may be mix ups but you should be your child's biggest advocate! These people are human and work long and hard shifts. But those are all minor things. When it comes to life or death, being able to keep your child alive, that's what matters. Medical personnel doing their best even when odds are against your child. That's what really matters. Thanks to this hospital my son is alive. He has a chance at life. And I get more time to love him. So thank you Children's Hospital. Thank you for all you do and striving to be your best.
Overall good the main dr, dentist, and nurse were good even the first nurse we dealt with in recovery till another nurse came and replaced her and got irritated with our crying toddler making the snarky remark of "ok now that's ridiculous"to her crying, and "ok it's time to go" so we could leave, and "just keep it" in reference to our daughter wanting to look like a nurse/dr with the hospital gown that was placed on her. It left a semi sour taste in our mind and we will definitely think twice about returning here again.
