I really like my dr. and nurse in the oncology department but am very disappointed in scheduling. My son's 3 month scans were supposed to be done in December and when I called I was told they were scheduled on 12/22.now I found out they were moved to 1/5 and he will be a month overdue before he gets his scans! I complained to patient advocacy who were not helpful at all. Patient advocacy is supposed to stand up for their patients and I do not feel like that happens at this hospital. My social worker takes forever to get back with me and I wouldn't know any better if I hadn't had such a superb social worker at our previous hospital. If not for our good dr and nurse I would have rated this a 1. They did do a good job at my sons port removal surgery but need serious improvements in the other aspects especially patient advocacy and social work- two very important departments when your life is taken over by a medical issue.

Daughter was sent here for dental surgery. Everything went fine until we started receiving our bill. Long story short they only billed our medical insurance not dental. After Several phone calls (months apart and still receiving bills) I am told they will not bill my dental insurance because they don't see themselves as a dental office. I ask to get a statement of service so that I can submit it to our dental insurance myself. Months pass (never receiving the requested statement) and I receive another bill this time saying that I will be sent to collections on X date. When I call this time they say they will resend the statement but I will still be sent to collections unless I set up a payment plan. DO NOT GO HERE FOR DENTAL RELATED ISSUES!

Amazing service. Took our child to The Medical Center of Aurora ER first and received care from a doctor that seemed to have barely graduated med school. After that train wreck, we took our child to Children s and received individualized and personal care that our child deserved. Great hospital and great ER staff.

Worse place ever to bring your child. I'm sitting in the emergency room .my daughter is dehydrated she is just laying down. They took me to the room. The nurse did even bother to came in after 45 min waiting in the room I Called for a nurse ten minutes later that nurse cames. Worst nurse. I told that I sit 45 min no one even came in. She says well .I'm here I'm her nurse looked at my daughter and said let's wait for doctors and left. My daughter had nothing for 24 hours only two wet diapers and she is not getting treatment yet. If this what nurses are than sorry I don't want to be nurse. I don't want to mention her name!

I cannot say enough good things about this place. We lived here for 55 days and never had one bad experience, even when we had some of the worst days of our lives. I'd like to highlight a few of the all stars from our experience- Dr. McLaughlin, Dr. Kinsella, Dr. Gien, Dr. Chow, Dr. Zeretski, I know I'm missing many names. The nurses were outstanding as well. That list is much longer and would take too long to read.

I'm so thankful for how this hospital strives for excellence. The cafeteria staff needs some urgency though. Long lines and only a few of them seem to hustle. I also wish the food was healthier. The coffee shop - dazbug coffee seems really disorganized and always flustered. I only had a few good interactions there out of many.

Mary from the financial department gave us so much help as well. She's a rockstar.

If you're a parent here, know that you're in great hands! But also make sure to advocate for your kid. The doctors do so much and they appreciate you being involved. It's important!

Terrible service I took my baby who could not breathe well and they told me they were boogers they themselves tried to get boogers out of them with saline water and nothing when looking at that they should look for something else we are talking about a baby who can't express what he feels and if I take my baby, it will not be because of snot take my baby to another hospital because I do not improve that night he did not sleep he was diasnosticated with a virus called (croup) they put an inhaler with oxygen to open their airways and cortisone to deflate talking about something serious in a baby they don't listen to the parents they ignore you I explained to them again and again that I couldn't breathe

So been here since noon for my daughter it's now 7pm people not even here have been told she is getting admitted but the doc just came in and said she hasn't made that call yet the only guy on time was the one getting paid cash the food guy she hasn't been aloud water or even ice chips. Oh and I'm still here in room 27 of the er just in case there is someone who reads these for the hospital the gold star if for the guy who brought me our food. Other wise it's a big fat 0 stars

My mother's, friends daughter, who is 17, had been diagnosed with some type of leg cancer in her knees. It was an excellent experience to be able to go and see her being treated properly and kindly. All the doctors, nurses, and employees are so kind and they really help the patient in need.

The doctor shoved my son and I was told nothing would be done to the doctor. Neil Desi. I will never bring my children to this emergency room again. I already spoke with them. They work for the hospital so they get paid to represent the hospital. Nothing is being done about Dr Desi behavior. Your handling the situation is a joke.

We have attended Children's Hospital Colorado on many occasions for various appointments in different areas and have always been treated with the utmost respect, care, and treatment by all. The staff has been nothing short of amazing each and every time.

Children's is one of the best Hospitals in the nation in my humble opinion, the facility is always looking clean and stunning, the staff members are professional and they seem to care about their patients, My special Thanks go to The CHIP outpatient clinic for doing an Outstanding job, I've always have a good experience when I come in, They make it fast, easy and they staff and nurses are always doing an excellent job. I have no negative comments at all.

The wait for the room and some of the staff was a little long but overall well worth the wait. The staff was so friendly and so kind and so comforting to both me and my child. The doctor's were knowledgeable and understanding and didn't mind explaining things to me if I needed a little extra. They took excellent care of my kiddo and the staff was so unbelievably sweet. I'll drive the extra 40 minutes to go to this campus due to the care provided and the kindness shown. I appreciated everything you guys did for us!

I arrived at 1247 pm my sister was on an atv and it rolled on her I dont know if anything is broken and we are here waiting to be seen I dont think the nurses take her injury serious she is in wheel chair crying in pain can't move waiting. we've been waiting for 15 minutes this to me is a dire emergency. I feel like had I called an ambulance she could have been rushed in. Disapointed with this hospital. This is my first visit

We've been taking our son with developmental disab...

We've been taking our son with developmental disabilities here for seven years. His disability is complex so we have been to a ton of their departments. Some of them are great, some of them are deplorable. Gastroenterology A+++ they know what they are doing and are amazing. Neurology, great. Allergy specialists? Good, they know their stuff.

Nutrition? Stay away, I've met with two separate nutritionists there who were terrible. One basically accused me of child abuse because we didn't give our son milk (dairy allergy, bloody stools y'all, not the made up kind of allergy), she seemed oblivious to the fact that some folks just can't drink milk and was hostile about it. Another called me 5 minutes before our appointment to say she was unqualified to answer any questions about my kid. Because we live an hour away and she gave no notice (this appointment was made months in advance, yet she wanted until 5 minutes beforehand to decide she couldn't talk to us?) she agreed to meet with us, but then recommended a litany of actual junk food that no one responsible for educating parents about nutrition should be outright recommending.

The worst place we've been thus far is probably the Emergency psych department. We took our son there when we felt we had nowhere else to turn, but I knew almost immediately that it was a huge mistake and that they were unqualified to treat him. They knew less than I did about how to treat him, which is the furthest thing from reassuring or helpful. They could have easily read his file, or called any of the doctors in that very building who treat him, but chose to continue fumbling around in the dark and discussing his needs as if he were typically developing. After having us sit in a series of rooms 9 AM to 5 PM without doing anything for him, I complained because they wouldn't even let my husband take our stir-crazy son for a walk, and we had not eaten all day. That clearly offended the attending psychologist who knew less than nothing about my son's disorder and how it impacts behavior, so they just sent us home empty handed, hopeless, and tired, with a referral for a place that would be even less qualified to treat him, that had a waiting list of several weeks, because they don't accept disability medicaid in their office. Sure would be a huge bummer if they had to take less money to treat the most vulnerable population in the state. They are in critical need of an education in developmental disabilities in general.

Children's hospital has taken great care of Amaya. She had a heart transplant at 8 months old. The cardiology department is great especially Dr Auerbach. Dr Miamoto is fantastic as well. The receptionist at cardiology are super sweet to Amaya. The nurses (Sara Shelly and Christine are great). The out patient lab is fantastic. Kelly is the best person ever to draw blood. She is definitely a great asset to the team over there. Amaya truly loves and is super comfortable with her.

Too costly, their accounting staff can do wonders with your bills. I received two different bills with two different account numbers (though the patient was same). One bill had a date of service, I never visited them.

I feel like a jerk giving a 1 star review to a Children's Hospital, but I just had terrible experience. My pediatrician referred me to here to get a blood test to see if my child had a genetic disease.
After weeks of calling and getting no answer, finally I got an appointment. That appointment consisted of a powerpoint explaining what genetics are and then showing my baby over the webcam to a doctor. The doctor then suggested we get a blood test (which is all we wanted in the first place). After that, I never heard anything from them except for a bill.

So months later, I still don't know if my child has a disease, but I got a nice powerpoint and a bill for a few hundred dollars.

This Children s Hospital is by far the worst hospital!! I went to go visit my little nephew who was on the 6th floor. I was very confused on what was going on with him, I asked the nutritionist a few questions which I have the right too & the nutritionist was very rude she rolled her eyes at me & did not answer any of my questions!!! They took the questions as a threat making it seem as if I was stepping on their toes when clearly was not the case & they kicked me out for a very dumb reason!!! So I will never go back to that hospital very very unprofessional

I donated platelets again at Childrens today. They have very experienced personnel in their platelets donation center. Most of their phlebotomists have over 10 years of experience. My phlebotomist today was Jackson. He did a great job. He has many years experience at Childrens plus 5 years in the Navy Medical Corps (3+ years with Marines). He is a terrific young man, but very humble about the excellent work that he is doing for the Children. All of the platelets and blood are used right there in their hospital. Donate today they need you!

I have been dealing with this hospital for over 10...

I have been dealing with this hospital for over 10 years. First this hospital originally reported me to social services because I ask for a different opinion about aggressively feeding my 11mth old daughter. I didn't know when to put her on solid foods. I was a first time single father with a child with cystic fibrosis. I was learning. Solid foods solved the problem. Secondly their social worker reported me to social services multiple times for reports never verified. Causing years of intense social services involvement. Then after proving I'm a good father to social services the social worker tries to have me committed because I found out my other daughter who I finally started getting in my life after being gone for 9 years is being sexually assaulted at her grandmother's house, where she lives. She's only 9. I feel this hospital tries to dictate parents of children. I feel many of the staff employed at this hospital have alternate agendas and that the child's health is not at the top of their list

I can t say enough about this place. The facility is beautiful, everyone is amazing and it is top notch. The cafeteria is open 24/7, which is truly rare. There is a Dazbog coffee shop in the main lobby that is a life saver. The free valet service rocks and is open until 6 pm, which I highly recommend using, especially when visiting a patient or if you re there for an appointment with a provider. They always have something for the kids to do, whether they are there for admission, an appointment or visiting a sibling. I also recommend walking around and checking out the art if you have time. There s even a pharmacy on site if you need to fill a prescription, which is nice. Does anyone want to go to a hospital? No. But if you ve gotta go, this one is excellent.

Horrible! This place is like your average Veterans hospital today. Dirty, old and dated equipment, information systems which put the patients at higher risk, and it's basically a financial racket like a casino where the house always wins. If you love your child do not let them go here. They admitted and released my daughter 3 times within 4 days and did not give her any medication until the final departure. The advocate team is going to comment, but their side of the house is just as bad. The only thing they do is try to get rid of you and sweep things under the mat. We have several complaints documented against multiple departments within this malpractice saga over the last month, and none of our efforts or concerns have been properly addressed. If this is really happening to others as it seems it must, then it's time to band together and put a stop to this illegal nonsense of a company who is using the name of their business to lure in and take advantage of sick children.

I've always been so impressed by the entire Children's Hospital network but I recently had an extremely disappointing experience. The lack of care and lack of leadership is definitely causing problems for patients.

Blessed thanks, we give God for having put all the help of the CHCA in our lives We cannot be more grateful to all the professional staff and other workers who make this hospital a charming place ... Angelica Santos underwent surgery there and everything It has been a success after success, our baby's heart is completely normal now and let alone the little one. She is also, at only 6 months old, she was also a patient at the wonderful Children's Hospital

Trying to transfer my son from this hospital and f...

Trying to transfer my son from this hospital and from their pediatric clinic but so far the records aren't transferring. When called they transferred me to a different department, left a voicemail no call back and the receptionist was rude.
No one ever calls back to let me know regarding my sons test results, when I explained they laughed and said that shouldn't of happened. My son had a flu type "virus" last year which caused him to now have acute flaccid myelitis according to them. The fact that I took him in to get some sort of help to comfort my 1year old and only to hear that he has a virus is very frustrating. My son had high fever but I figured why pay them if all you hear after hours of wait is he has a virus and to control it with Tylenol. Stayed home and did home remedies that actually helped a lot more. Now 4 months later we see the difference in his legs and when I go back to see why he limps and has a shorter leg and thinner they did tests; did they call me back, no, because according to them they had the wrong number. I can't say how disappointed I am and not only how horrible this hospital is when it comes to communicate. Not only is his physical therapy a waste of time for me driving him to only play with cars and get a CUT OUT lift done but also how they can't seem to explain anything.

My son was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot at 22 weeks. Due to his condition it was determined he had to be delivered at children s. After delivery he had a breathing issue and was transferred from the amazing CICU to the horrible NICU. I do bot have the time to detail all the issues we encountered in the NICU department but it highlighted all the issues parents should never have to deal with. Every two weeks the team would change. Every two weeks when the new team came on board they repeated every test our little guy previously had. He has had genetics done 4 times because every team said their test would be better, all came back normal. Not once did any team look at his records. I do not know how many tests I had to decline and fight about because he had already received them and the team was ordering the test without consulting his chart and seeing what tests had already been done. Communication between departments was horrible. At one point the CICU had to come up and show the Nicu docs like they were in elementary school what the issue was and how what the Nicu was trying to say where huge issues where what was to be expected with his condition. The nurses were all over the place. Some were fantastic, some just wanted control and wouldn t listen or compromise with parents. If you have a complex kid, stay out of the Nicu here because they do not know how to deal with those cases and properly consult and listen to the appropriate departments. When we were close to discharge and they told me it would be at least 3 more weeks I demanded that my son be transferred to the CICU. Once I said that demand it came out that they had not been consulting cardiology at all about discharge and were just doing what they wanted and they finally agreed to see what cardiology wanted to do. We were discharged 4 days later. The CICU seems great and I will edit this after our experience in there.

I came to the hospital to see Becca Sachs in the endocrinology department. I have seen a different doctor in this office before and was charged for a specialty visit of $50. This time we saw Becca and she was absolutely no help. She told us that we should just watch and see and come back again in 6 months. We don't have 6 months! That's why we came to a specialist (or who we thought was a specialist). A couple weeks later I got a bill for $600. I called the hospital, the insurance, the outside billing for her office and ultimately found out that Becca was the one that sent the code for a hospital visit instead of an office visit. I talked to her nurses twice and they said they would talk to her and get back to me. Of course they didn't. Her office did call to schedule a follow up visit. I told them I would not ever come back and I need to get this billing code worked out and again, was told they would talk to her and get back to me. Now, instead of Becca or a nurse calling me back for 5 minutes, they sent me to collections. I will never go back to her and will tell anyone looking not to go to her either. What a waste of time and money!

Thank you!

Thank you!
We made the best of our time on the 6th floor and love the neurology team. We will be back on the 28th.
I do have one question and wasn't sure who to call. My son was supposed to be discharged tomorrow (18 March) but came home yesterday. I know that at least one care package is floating around somewhere as it arrived after we left. Any suggestion on how we can track that down and save it until his neurology appointment (third floor) on the 28th?

Yes this hospital is beyond beautiful. It's very easy to be impressed. There's a reason why it's so beautiful - please look at your bill carefully, that is if you even get a bill. My daughter went for a "food challenge" at the allergy clinic. 3 months later, I got a bill which was not itemized, simply a total line number with $1477 in charges. I called and requested an itemized bill and weeks later received one. They charged me for 3 doses of epinephrine at over $300 each. For a total of $925 in epinephrine. One dose was all that was used and needed for an 11 yr old child. 3 doses would be unheard of, even in an adult. I called billing and asked for an audit. A week later, I called back and they told me that the audit proved that their billing was correct. I've spoken about it with my pediatrician who referred me to this hospital and he was appalled. I am now trying to get a human being to speak to on the phone that has a medical background that can reverse the billing to the correct single dose of epinephrine. No one has called me back.

I had a fine experience in the radiology department with my 12 week old son. However, the parking at CHOC at Anschutz is horrific. Why both UCH and CHOC built visitor parking garages that are only two stories tall is beyond me. I arrived 45 minutes before my appointment and barely made it in on time, after parking super far away in 15 degree weather with a 12 week old. The line for the valet was insane. So, if you do decide to bring your kiddo here, hope you have enough time to show up an hour early to find a place to park. The care seems great, it s unfortunate that parking is such a barrier here.

My 16 yr. old daughter has mulitple disabilities and disorders. I had to take her for a blood draw today. She does not handle needles well, and by that I mean lots of crying, yelling, flailing, kicking. 180lbs of out of control. The team that worked with me and her were phenomenal. The two main people who persisted through her protests and accomplished the task were Mitchell and Melissa. They were on point! There were two other females that helped. I'm so sorry, but I didn't get their names. They were on the ER/Trauma side of things, since the main lab was closed today. I am super grateful for everyone's patience and skills.

We came from Cheyenne WY to go to this hospital. My daughter was misdiagnosed at our local ER and sent home on antibiotics. We followed our gut and came to Children's Hospital because we felt that there was more going on. There was. She had to have emergency surgery. The staff was amazing! Environment was inviting and accommodating. Staff was so reassuring. Even though they didn't know what was going on initially, they kept reassuring us that they would find out and they did. A couple of her nurses, Beau in the ER deparment and Danny on the 6th floor were so helpful. Dr. Partrick was amazing as well as his team in the OR. Needless to say, we will always make the trip to Children's over our own hospital. They valued our daughter how we value her and that is how it should be.

Children's may provide great care, but their billi...

Children's may provide great care, but their billing practices are predatory, unethical, and probably borderline illegal. I am being charged almost $400 for a single x-ray at their urgent care center across town. The head of the billing office literally told me she didn't know how insurance worked and then after I explained it to her, she said, "You should be paying more [than someone with insurance] because you aren't paying the insurance company.

I filed a complaint with Patient Relations, but the patient relations office run by Kristin is a joke. Their solution was to "ask my pediatrician to pay the bill for me." What!? Seriously!? Ironically, most places want everything in writing, but Childrens actually refuses to put complaints or their resolution in writing. They send out form letters that say essentially, "we reviewed your complaint and called you with the resolution." But Kristin's story changed at least three time in one conversation so who knows what the "official" resolution was or if there even was one. I asked that the complaint be escalated and that Kristin's incompetence be reviewed. I was never contacted and eventually received an email that basically said, we talked to Kristin and she thinks she's doing a great job. There were no details of the complaint and therefore no real resolution.

Nearly everyone who has actually had to pay Children's hospital for services has similar stories of their wildly inflated prices and complete unwillingness to work with anyone or even act like decent human beings.

Update: I saw the response below and wanted to follow up. Patient relations repeatedly told me on the phone that this was my pediatrician's fault and she needed to fix it. They gave a variety of non-sensical explanations of why and what she was supposed to do about it. She has no affiliation with Childrens at all. The letter they sent said their prices were justified because they are based on ER pricing even though this is an urgent care center. Not sure how I was supposed to get one from the other, but that's Childrens I guess.

We are so glad that we went to childrens hospital Colorado. DR. Wilcox is easy to talk to and made our son feel comfortable right away, along with P.A. Korber. We are particularly thankful for the surgery scheduler, Lacey B. Who answered all our questions, provided all the info, helped coordinate details....all in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend this place for specialty pediatric care.

This place is incredible! I know a patient that has unfortunately been in their for long term and the nurses are great! Especially for those undergoing a tough time it's the little things that make all the difference and the staff as far as I know do their best to do just that.

They take good care of my children's health, but aren't very accommodating towards the family. Just to eat here every day my child is here is $21/day! Our visit to see a dermatologist for my teen daughter was outstanding ! She was seen for teen acne and was thoroughly followed up and screened by an amazing team of doctor Torres-Zefarra and her wonderful assisting doctor (sorry I forgot his name ) along with Michelle the Nurse specialist; They all helped us with so much details and answered our concerns, took their time to explain condition, treatment and prevention .
We are extremely pleased to have such an amazing, caring team and thankful for this world class treatment.

Amazing experience here. We had to get an ambulance ride and a few day stay on the 8th floor for our 2.5 month year old. The doctors huddled in our room and all talked about what they thought was best, and we didn t have one cocky doctor, all of them wanted what was best for our baby and were willing to be wrong and explain things. We had amazing nurses. In specific Mickie was brilliant, and our other night nurse was as well. Very thankful for a hospital that takes good care of my baby when needed. I m sure billing is a mess but I don t think that s their fault.. it s the mess of our insurance system.

Had appointment for my son in urology dept checked in at 8 am Doctor came in quickly and did check up and said we should do a ultra sound she then left and a lady came in and told us we can do ultra sound at 9:30 and they would check us in at 9:15 and left us in the exam room. we sat in room for more than 90 mins and no one came back so after another 30 mins I went and tracked someone down and she said we need to go down stairs for ultra sound and some one should have come and got us. we went down to ultra sound check in and they said we were too late as it was now 10:15. we then left and went home as we will never return, nurse called us on cell as I was driving home to ask about the ultra sound and if we would come back, I gave her a ear full and we can find much better care elsewhere. avoid at all costs

Our son and family had a wonderful experience at this hospital! The doctors, nurses and all of the medical personnel were brilliant! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the billing department cannot get their act together. We have been trying to set up a payment schedule for months and it never works. Then they could not find our bill and now we have to pay a larger monthly sum because they could never figure it out! We do not have a lot of money so this is a big financial strain!

It just seems to me that a place with all this vast knowledge and medical advancement would know the dangers of Splenda and Equal.
So if you want a soft drink there, just pick your poison, LITERALLY!

I was hesitant to go at first because I had heard some not so great things from a friend but I was so surprised by the great care we got. The facility is very well ran from beginning to end things went smoothly and the staff was great. They took such great care of my son and took things very seriously and investigated thoroughly. I hope we never have to but I would definitely go back if necessary.

I've been going here for almost 2 years now, the staff is very rude and inconsiderate of your child's well being. What should have been a simple procedure has turned into more pain and surgeries to come for my 2 year old. Very displeased with this hospital that's supposed to care for my baby.

They closed down urgent care in Colorado Springs and only offer emergency care at the new hospital now. That is a major blow to children s health care here in Colorado Springs. The price points between urgent and emergency with insurance is astronomical. Because of this our son will not be seen tonight because of his fever but 6 months ago he would have. We had nothing but great experiences at the old location and now the big hospital opens they close the urgent care and don t give us another option for urgent care.... wonderful. I guess we won t be coming back anytime soon; a real shame the old location was a real gem and the staff was amazing.

Very disappointed. It took 2 hours for the appointment, several times we had to look for the doctor to remind her that we are still waiting and have a next appointment to go to. while the clinic was completely empty and we were the only patients there. The doctor had to write the prescription for 40 min, which made our child feel worse. No value! The bill was for $606. The explanation of the huge bill was, that they had cancel other appointments in order to see our child on the emergency basis. Our appointment was scheduled in advance, there was no emergency. And the clinic was completely empty - no other patients were there at the time.

We are from the San Luis Valley. My daughter was born here, we have the worst hospital around. they had to fly here to Denver flight for life when she got there they were like why does she have all them pokes from the nurse trying to get the needle in her arm. When she got to children's hospital they were hands down the best ever.

Billing department is absolutely awful. They do not send you paper or email statements so you don't know you have an outstanding balance until you get a call from the debt collector. Its ridiculous. I will not use this hospital unless I absolutely have to because of that.
