Melissa Mowry Review of Children's Hosptial Colorado

So disappointing. I have always supported Children's Hospital. I donate every year and have never had a complaint, however yesterday was a nightmare. My daughter had surgery on the 24th of January at the South Campus in Highlands Ranch which went good. I had called the number on the paper sent home on Friday because I had a concern that my daughter had a bloody nose that lasted longer than normal and just wanted to confirm it was okay as of course no parent wants a complication after the surgery and the number states don't hesitate to call. Well the first problem was I called at 5am and was told that I would get a call back no later than an half hour past my call. Well at 9am I called again because I never received a call back. Long story short after going over all the information they had decided it would be better for my daughter to be checked which of course as a parent safe is better than sorry. They expressed that I must go right away and I must go to the Aurora Campus. I am assuming because they didn't have the correct staffing at the South Campus. Upon arriving the waiting room was filled with children with the flu. Thinking we would be checked right in because they assured on the phone everyone knew were were coming. WRONG they had us sit in the absolutely gross waiting room with all these sick children for an hour while my daughter had just had surgery on Wednesday. I was not thrilled not only did they make it urgent that I drive all the way to that campus but to then have us wait in that environment absolutely not okay. It gets better, once we got back to the room what a joke. The room was disgusting. Walls are tinted in black, counters had wrappers from medical equipment laying there, sheets where dirty on the bed, there was a bloody cotton ball under the bed. At this point I was fuming. The supposed specialist that came in basically admitted that she just had lasic surgery so couldn't see really well but after looking at my daughter she looked fine? How would you know you just said you couldn't see. We addressed this concern with the MD that saw my daughter first and her response, "I just work here". Really you as a doctor approve these conditions for being a children's hospital. She then advised us to call a patient advocate. I of course did this right away. All they do is take down your concern and that is as far as it goes is the computer system if they even save it.
Don't waste your time on a robot response to this review saying how you value and are sorry. Guess what actually take action. Plenty of donations go to this hospital and you can't even get it clean?
This hospital was not like this several years ago as I experienced a great hospital 8 years ago when I needed it for my son which made me believe in this hospital and was why we started donating several years ago. After this visit, however it is obvious that the priorities back then are not a priority now and is really sad that I will never go back to this campus and wonder if I will donate moving forward.
I am still mad that my daughter was put in this situation.
