We endured a drawn out drafting process with continual errors. Colour selection was rushed with only 5 hours to cover everything. No electrical appointment was included.
Zero communication was permitted with the site supervisor directly. Our only official contact was with their Customer Service Officer who's communication was consistently very poor throughout the build. There were no progress updates throughout the build and getting a response to emails was consistently difficult.
Frequent mistakes were made throughout the build despite having specific details on plans/variations. This led to unnecessary disputes with management to fix their mistakes.
Our house has poor quality finishes, particularly in paint and fittings. The carpet installation is unsatisfactory with very visible joins, loose spots and three pieces joined in one room. Almost every door handle has been installed crooked. There are scratched windows and scratched window/door frames on the entire house. Little care taken was by trades and no protective films or coverings were used by the builder to protect any surfaces. The floor tiles were installed prior to paint and are covered in overspray. Paint has been dripped over the brickwork, tiles and carpets with little effort to remove. The builders clean was sub standard.
At handover we were missing keys to our front door and there was no thank you gift. I emailed the builder after they deleted a post I had commented on in their social media advertising the Thankyou gifts they had given other clients. I was emailed a response by their Marketing team telling me that the reason we didn t receive one is because they send gifts out to clients who they know will appreciate them.
There was absolutely no joy or excitement during the building process for us, only relief when it was finally over.
It was really important to us to support a small, local company. There were not many good or bad reviews when we were looking at builders and we took a gamble choosing them . We are bitterly disappointed with the entire process and honestly we wish we had used another builder. Would not recommend this builder.

EDITED TO ADD, The "quality home" they are proud to put their name to is the same home I have described with all of its issues. Coincidentally after this review was left we have also been removed from their Facebook and Instagram accounts.

We built our own custom designed home in 2016 with DR Homes. Good price, good build quality but it is the customer service that really stands out. Every issue we raised during the build was dealt with promptly and with no fuss. Very happy with our home.

We have built twice through DR both our house and Grannyflat 12 months later. DR is definitely not your average project builder and both builds went well.

Really love their what you see is what you get mantra. No hidden agenda here.

Can recommend to price conscious buyers.. Very efficient custom home design stage. Construction does take a long time but that should be the case with most of the builders.. was quite a stress free process but could have had better finishes for the construction work.

We had such a fantastic experience building with DRHomes. It was a pleasure dealing with all the administration staff in Head office who made contact with us regularly throughout the build. Its has now been 1 week since we received our handover and the keys to our house, and I have to say we are thoroughly impressed with our home. When the time comes we look forward to working again with DRHomes. 25.08.2020
