I had to take my 3 years old daughter there once as she had ingested her earrings when we were living in Denver. There is not enough words to say how good they are, I was really impressed by the good care they had with my daughter and with us. I wish we had hospitals and engaged doctors like that in my country.
We had the worst experience EVER at this "ER".
We waited for 2 hours to be called back, which I can deal with, as I know it can get busy.
We were put in a room and told the dr would be with us shortly.
THREE hours later, in strolls a very rude and cold woman (I think her last name was Eastman? Eastan?) Not even sure of her title, because I was so blown away by how rude and condescending she was.
She made me feel so stupid about following my child's pediatrician's instructions, which were to come in and ask for an EEG if he had another nocturnal seizure.
I show her a video and she tells me they're probably "normal jerks that EVERYONE has in their sleep".
Then tells me she doesn't even know if they will order an EEG.
Decides to do a strep test, because my son complained of sore throat and had a fever. He fights her and so she leaves.
THEN she comes back 2 hours later and has the nerve to say "hey, sorry you had to wait just a little bit. I guess they are going to do the EEG."
I tell her that he just had 2 more seizures while she was gone and she COMPLETELY blew me off, acting like I didn't know what I was talking about.
I tell her thank you for getting the EEG and she literally rolled her eyes as she walked out the door and said "no worries.." and closed the door.
To wrap up the rest of our 12 hour stay in the ER, I was then told that my son was not having seizures and that people just do weird things in their sleep. It's interesting to me, because they have his medical records right in front of their faces that state he has had abnormal EEGs and has been treated by a neurologist in the past at the same campus.
Will never set foot in this facility again, and will inform anyone I meet with a child about our experience.
My son was refered here to the Genetics Dept. Driving up from the Springs. I was really surprised how we did not drive around endlessly for parking. Even with Covid restrictions, it was fast to enter and check it at those counters. We also got there early and we were brought back to my sons appoint pretty fast too. Now the staff we encountered in Genetics... Super nice and patient. I had so many questions and i suffer from bad social anxiety. They knew. They explained everything and answered all my questions. Even sent us home with a packet about his issue. On my way home i realized i forgot to ask for a note for school. Got home, looked in the folder and there it was! Great experience all around.
The Ophthalmology clinic is over booked and has way to many patients. My child is partially blind in the right with a temporary lenses placement. He has to be seen every 6 months of not sooner to make sure his eye pressure isn t to high. I had to cancel his appointment due to car issues and when I call to cancel and reschedule they can t get him back in until August. I am sorry this is absolutely ridiculous!!!!! I get that doctors are busy but 6 months out busy this is unnecessary. The person I talked to said they were booking a little a lot to me that s a month maybe. Not 6 months. What happened if a emergency happens for a child and all the doctors are booked?? I have always loved children s but I have taken my services else s where so my child can receive the right car he needs for his eye!
Why are your nurses kicking out patients immediately after surgery?
The staff is very knowledgeable and nice. One of the staff even brought me to the grocery store so I can get groceries when she found out I didnt have a vehicle here. They take time out to really listen to your concerns and needs . Your kids are in good hands when they come here.
Got here at 11:45pm Been waiting for 2 hours and still have not even been seen for our emergency. My daughter is having hard time breathing and face swollen. It is now 3:11am we are still in the waiting room
The PICU is beyond amazing! They went above and beyond for my children during their stays. The staff is awesome and easy to get along with. The discharge planning for both campuses is absolutely awful! First we were set up with services for an oxygen provider without being given a choice of provider (super no no for patient rights) then I was laughed at by the nurses on the phone when I became upset about their lack of attention to detail and not honoring our provider preference. My daughter's chart is now "flagged" so that ANYTIME I come to the hospital regardless of which campus I am made to feel like a felon and given a behavior conduct paper with the passive aggressive threat of security. Talk about a great way to make a mom feel like a failure! The second poor discharge was today when they scheduled my daughter appointments for follow ups with a PCP that wasn't hers even though my family told them that wasn't her PCP and then scheduled a follow up at the main campus for a date and time that we cannot make. I am extremely frustrated with lack of care to detail and communicating with parents during discharge. Not everyone is fortunate enough to take work off and be with their child during their hospital stays. Sometimes the staff will have to pick up a phone and communicate to a working parent.
They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves in the ER. I've been there for 5 hours seriously 5. I was in legit pain for 5 hours. There were seriously sick babies waiting even longer. The worst, I'll never go back.
My newborn was diagnosed with lung cancer right after I delivered her. She is our first baby and my husband and I were devastated and speechless at first. The staff took not only amazing care of my little Eleanor, but great care of us young parents as well. With the help of the amazing staff and outstanding surgeon (Stig Somme) my daughter is now cancer free and is living a normal life. I couldnt be more grateful for Stig and the staff at Childrens for helping my daughter conquer cancer and for taking the ultimate care of her. My heart is full because of them
4 hours waiting to see a doctor we are still in doctor room for an emergency visit....
Waited in the room for about 45 minutes when a nurse came in, apologized and said that they have an urgent case on the "other side" that was taking up their time, then proceeded to leave (stayed less than 2 minutes). Maybe 15 mins later a doctor came in and stayed standing at the door while talking about symptoms (no more than 5mins).
What a way to make you feel welcomed & that they are there for you.
Love it great doctors and specialists who care about there patients
Welcoming and accommodating until you get the bill. They weren't willing to admit any mistake regarding insurance billing, and would not negotiate 1 dollar, even after a year of discussions. Quick to refer to a collections company that reported to my credit even after saying they wouldn't. Then they have the nerve to advertise for donations. These days people who do the 'right' thing, aka, pay for expensive insurance, give correct info when checking it, and care about their credit get screwed.
Great staff, great care, great facility. Other patients kinda suck. Not us, though. We were sweethearts.
My daughter was seen February 2017 for viral meningitis and her Pediatrician asked that we take her to Children's Hospital instead of St Anthony's which is closer to home and very efficient. We waited in the waiting room full of sick children while my daughter was carrying a very horrible virus that could have been spread throughout the waiting area for about 2 hours. When she finally was seen by the PA they gave her a cocktail of medications for the horrible migraine she had and took about 6 more hours to decide about further testing and head CT. In the meantime my daughter was freezing and a blanket was not offered. The room was filthy and then my daughter started vomiting from the medications given on a empty stomach. No one cleaned up the vomit a nurse came in and place the biohazard waste basket in front her to vomit in. Which was removed by me. Who knows what was in the biohazard waste basket. This was the most HORRIBLE experience I have ever had on a hospital. I hope I never have to go back.
I am sure the care for the cancer children is much better than the ER. I would never put my child through an ER visit there EVER AGAIN!
I would like to say the billing department also billed the incorrect insurance. Horrible service in the hospital all the way around. Prayers go out for the extremely sick children at this hospital and their parents. I hope they are received better care
This hospital LITERALLY saved my son s life and ensured he reached a full recovery! They were there for him every step of the way and conducted more than adequate follow up. I can t find the words to express my gratitude because they don t exist! All I can say is that I hope to work here one day, in order to contribute their MAGIC!
We left the hospital yesterday. My baby was at the ninth floor. The nurses who take care of my son were so kind and respectful.Thank you guys for taking care of my baby boy
I was referred here due to my unborn daughters having possible birth defects. They staff were great! Everyone was very kind and any questions I had they answered to the best of their ability or found someone who knew. Sadly while there our daughter past away but all the nurses, doctors, counselors, etc. where so kind and sympathetic. While I wish I will never have to go there again I'm glad I was there at the time.
Once again children's hospital misdiagnosed my son and cost us thousands of dollars in medical bills and prolonged pain for my 3 year old. Today we are sitting at Skyridge outpatient surgery where my son is having emergency surgery after children's hospital in highlands ranch sent my baby home with antibiotics saying he was fine. Thank goodness for the doctors at health one rocky mountain hospital for children for picking up the slack AGAIN and giving my son the medical attention he needed to get well. Also a big shout out to the nurses at the highlands ranch children s hospital who thought my 3 year olds fear of IVs after being stuck by needles 23 times by the crappy staff at children's hoapital was funny. #youguysaretheworst #definetlyquityourdayjob #youneedmoreschool #itsnotkawaskidisease #youdontpaythebillssoiguessyoudontcare #learntocommunicate #whatifitwasyourkid
My experience here is mixed. I have been to the pediatric ER at 12 am and we had no wait. But we were there 6 hours for just a fever. I was concerned so I didn't ask to leave. Our final bill was reasonable. We were in from out of town and had no other care options.
My second time was in the outpatient blood draw. No one was at the desk. Seems like the people drawing the blood are also running the desk (with gloves on, not sure if new gloves or old ones). We waited 30 minutes before anyone even came to the desk and the woman just held her head in her hands several times. Everyone is obviously extremely stressed. They said that the computers were frozen. Just seems... Less streamlined for the expectation.
The hospital itself is gorgeous and beautiful. I always marvel at how kid friend it is. Also, the volunteers at the info desk are angels. Glad they are the first we meet.
Be wary of using the valet service at Children's Aurora. Since they are working on their parking garage, it was recommended that I use the free valet service, which I did. Upon retrieval of my vehicle, I noticed that my driver's side seat had a cut in it. After filling out the incident report with the valet company (which was never forwarded to the appropriate person) and eventually contacting Patient Relations, I received a call three weeks later from their claims manager to be told that "there's no evidence to suggest valet was negligent" and that the company will only pay out claims that are "catastrophic."
Awful experience on 7th floor with their so called child life specialist. Sebastian Kobolowski is a piece of dirt to say it nicely. Multiple complaints and he still works there. And not only from us but from multiple sources . Steer clear of Sebastian and you will save your self some headaches. Doctors are great some nurses as re also but you have to watch them carefully. It just a job to them . They need to do something about Sebastian before a parent does!
My son and I are here often. He has some great Doctors here. Some Doctors are better then others when it comes to communication and explaining test results. It's such a hassle for me to get a Doctor to call me. They rather have there nurses write you on my chart and not even fully explain or answer the questions you have. On another note on my sons last hospital stay for a procedure in November went good. The biggest complaint I have is my son would pick what he wanted to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I would call to place his order. The wait for the food was over an hour. So you have to call in before your child is hungry. Also the food quality is poor. He ordered a build your own pizza and it was burnt to a crisp! Not edible so my friend ordered pizza and sides from a pizza place and had it delivered to us so we could eat. The food is bland and hot food would be cold, cold food would be warm, and food was over cooked. Then the guest/ parent meals are almost $8.50 per meal. That is ridiculous! Mostly for some nasty food. Wish I would have taken proof all the food we ordered or bought from the cafeteria because I want my money back it wasn't edible!
Worst. Hospital. Ever. Over priced for services. Unsympathetic doctors. No HANDICAPPED buttons on any doors. Not set up for children. Our dentist office is set up better for children. Sad.
Just spent 5 days there while you guys saved my daughters life. I will never be able to Thank the Flight Crew (from Omaha, NE) and the PICU nurses and Drs and the CPCU Nurses and Drs Enough for all they did! You are all AMAZING!!!
Zero Stars
We recently were at the Children s Hospital Colorado and needed to have Lab work done. Where we encountered two individuals who did not know how to truly deal with an autistic child who goes into flight mode the moment he knows he is getting blood work done.
When the Lab tech Zac took us back to the room for the lab work. I tried to explain to him that my child is Autistic and has a very difficult time with blood draws where I may have to hold him in order for him to get the blood or we may need another person to help. Right away he told the other lab tech to get behind my autistic child and hold and restrain him which already made the situation worse and as the parent I was trying to calm my child get him to let us see his arm and Zac the lab tech wanted to lower the table down lower on to my autistic child who was in his adaptive stroller which would trap and lock my child in place. At the sound of this my child started to become freaked out and the Lab tech Zac got irritated.
As the parent I attempted to hold my child on the table where my child was wrapped in my arms in away he would feel safer and then Zac the Lab tech said in a raised yelling voice we can t get his blood this way it s not safe. When it is obvious that as the parent of the autistic child I would know best how to help get this blood work done. Zac the Lab tech went on to say after I attempted again to help him understand how this would help him get the lab work that he has felt with Autistic children before and continued to yell at both my self and my child in front of another lab tech who just stood there and another lab tech by the name of kate.
When I tried to take a picture of his name on his name badge Zac the Lab tech turned it over and yelled some more and threatened both my autistic child who is a patient with Children s Hospital Colorado and my self to be kicked out by security. And when I said in a upset voice for him to leave the room and that we did not want to hear him or see him he kept verbally yelling at my autistic child and my self even after the other lab tech Kate told him to walk away. When I asked for their names they refused to provide them by writing it down and said they have no pens or paper and handed a card for the lab. When in fact there are pens that they should have provided the information.
With all of this said I would never Recommend Children s Hospital Colorado to anyone. For anything and if you do go there for treatment I would suggest making sure you get complete medical records for your child including all notes for anyone who has accessed your child s chart.
This place is one of the worst hospitals that I have been to. Our local doctor directed us here when our 1 year old had serious hives from an unknown source all over her body and a high fever. We notified the hospital at 4pm, arrived at 6:30pm, and did not see the doctor or nurse until 8pm. We spent 5 hours in our hospital room after that waiting for sporadic 5 minute visits every hour or so for treatment or to discuss the problem. We didn't leave until 1am. Our doctor and nurse were excellent, "when they were there," and correctly diagnosed the problem, yet they seemed incredibly overworked. The waiting room was the worst part and operates like the DMV except it was less clean. I would avoid this place unless you need a specialist.
We have been waiting here for 2 flipping hours and nothing has been done at all. Two nurses came in asked the same questions and left my son is currently burning up with fever and nothing is being done about it. I am very upset! I used to love this hospital but now you guys are really lacking everything a hospital should have.
In September 2017 My daughter was transferred to this hospital from Lutheran's due to her running a fever. They diagnosed her with adenovirus, put her on a feeding tube and ran a bunch of tests. Half way through our stay they called cps and said I malnourished my baby and they're was bonding issues. They're evidence was I missed 2 feedings because my alarm didn't go off and my daughter didnt wake me up. Also because she cried every so often, she hated me. Nobody took count I was a first time mom, doing it by myself and healing from a c-section. No parent is perfect we learn everyday. I never neglected my baby, she was sick and I'm getting punished everyday because a medical team told them I did. I highly don't reccomend this hospital whatsoever, take your precious babies somewhere else.
We drove 7 hours to this hospital from another state hoping to find the care we needed. Unfortunately their charge nurse can t do a simple blood draw without spilling half of my child s blood on my wife s leg and claim to say it was our fault she dropped it. Doctors are very knowledgeable but nurses don t have a clue in what they are doing. After this stay we will never return.
My sister had an open heart surgery and the doctor messed it up big time, took longer but she is doing better now
Run away from Children's Hospital. The nurses had a new machine that they did not know how to work. They overheated my new baby and they were not smart enough to critical think about the issues. They were not monitoring as they promised for having a baby under heat. I ended up ending the services early because I was more worried about what they would hurt over help. Fast Forward 1 year, they sent a bill late. They cannot figure out how to bill my insurance and only sending me letter saying it is my responsibility (put it on the consumer for their business).
Concussion Clinic and Complex Concussion Clinic delivered substandard care. Beyond physical and vestibular therapy offered no suggestions to alleviate my son's symptoms. And if their argument is these therapies are the standards of care and best practices, that isn't good enough. This is Children's. You have a lot of resources to help families and I would challenge you to do better and think bigger. All I kept hearing is "the good news is that kids heal fast." Not always. He literally suffered for months and months with no relief. Pressure on his brain, ringing in his ears, nausea, dizziness....months. Not once did I see an MD in the complex concussion clinic. You would think that may be suggested if there is no relief of symptoms? Seems logical to me....Not once did anyone suggest alternative therapies, not once did they offer any resources and not once did I hear the words post concussion syndrome. They made me feel like he should have been healing, it wasn't normal that he was not making progress and then did absolutely nothing when symptoms persisted, which made me worry more. There are some serious gaps in care. If you think this is the best program in Colorado, think again.
I'm so very thankful to Dr. Brukner and her staff for CLEARING my baby's severe eczema. He has been dealing with this for months and it has be very hard on our family. The recommendations by his doctor worked overnight and he's an entirely different baby. I am so so happy and grateful!
The care that they say they give And the care they do give it doesn t seem like every anybody is on the same page and my granddaughter may not live this is horrible for a hospital that says it s number one very very sad .
I have been in the hospital with my 14 year old for four days, she has a very rare and serious disease. From the moment we were admitted via flight for life, I made it very clear to every person that walked through her door that I needed two things. 1. A doctor who had knowledge of said disease to discuss my child's condition and explain things to me 2. A plan for pain. As her disease does not allow her to take many of the drugs, and since her level of pain during an attack is comparable with childbirth, i asked to utilize this hospitalization to explore some pain options as the only pain option we have currently is a very hardcore narcotic. I have been asking for both things for four days, and I was told I would see both of these come to fruition day 2. Here we are day 4, such a long stay because the doctors twice gave her a substance that caused a re-attack, and not one of my goals has been realized.
They are sending me home in the exact same position I came in. Not once have I had access to a knowledgeable doctor, my own can't hide his ignorance of the disease. Nor have they attempted to remedy my medicinal issue. I just called my specialist to ask her to rally with me, to help them understand the situation and she said that she has been trying to get a hold of my Dr. all weekend, and he has never called her back. Actions speak much louder than words. Compassionate care? I think not.
If it wasn't for this hospital I don't know what I would of done. Amazing doctors and staff. They have helped my son and I so much in taking care of his health. Polite and Clean and Caring staff.
I am saddened that after almost 10 years, my son with special needs will not be traveling here anymore. We went the last time and they did not have the decency to inform us they were not contracted with NE Medicaid at that time, they are now though. We are now stuck with this high hospital bill and they won't even apologize for their mistake or even help in any way. We travel over 4 hours for this? I would of rescheduled for when they got contracted with NE again.
The nurses are so nice and helpful and so are the doctors. My 4 year old was scared to come to one of the outpatient clinics. We saw a wagon on the way in and it helped her to go in without crying. The staff was really nice and helped keep her calm. Thank you to all the staff, nurses and doctors who made her visit a good one.
I went to this hospital 11th sep. My son had little fever and mild head pain. Spent at most 30 mins.Doc just checked without any kind of test. Last week I got a mail that for this visit , they charged me $860 ..!!!! Bills have no break up .... why they charged me so much. My insurance going to pay some amount and rest $637 ..I NEED TO PAY BY MYSELF ...!!!! THIS IS INSANE ..!!!
I called hospital's accounts department and they said,
"THEY PROVIDED LEVEL 2 SERVICE ... I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT IS LEVEL 2 SERVICE ...
THEY ALSO MENTIONED, THEY HAVE LEVEL 1 TO LEVEL 5 SERVICE ( NO ONE MENTIONED ME THEY ARE GOING TO PROVIDE LEVEL 2 SERVICE ) ..I AM LUCKY ..IF IT WAS LEVEL 5 ..AMOUNT WOULD BE MUCH MORE ..!!!!!
ASK , WHICH LEVEL OF SERVICE THEY ARE GOING TO PROVIDE YOUR KID, BEFORE YOU TAKE SERVICE FROM THEM ...!!! "
NOT RECOMMENDED TO ANYONE .....!!!!
Everyone was beyond wonderful and caring! The nurses were Superior! The doctor was kind and understanding.
I am very, very, distraught over the fact that a man like this is around these children! It is highly inappropriate! This man is also passing counterfeit money around Denver and he is allowed around children? He is using gang signs on his Facebook profile! How is that ok??
Very caring facility and great resource in the Rocky Mountain region.
Brought my teen child to the Children's south campus urgent care clinic to treat a skin rash. The intake nurse decided to check him in as an ER visit rather than urgent care without full disclosure to us. After a simple assessment, which required no specialized ER equipment, a recommendation was made to take an over the counter antihistamine. We soon received a $1500 ER bill from Children's and $125 physicians bill from UC. Contacted Children's to get the ER visit reduced to the appropriate level of service since this was NOT a life threatening scenario. Children's administration team reviewed and denied our request. So disappointed........we will go elsewhere next time.
Dr Donaldson in orthopedics is by far the worst experience we've had at childrens. Not only was he 74 minutes late to our scheduled apt , none of his team even notified us as to why we were waiting for so long. And then he came in discombobulated and pretty much misdiagnosed my childs foot and then only realized his mistake at the end of our apt.
I would not recommend him at all. They seem overworked and understaffed .
Stay away from my brother you guys hurt him I hate you guys shut this place down:)
Scheduled a 730 surgery. Was told to arrive at 530. Security didn't know where to send us, a call up to the ortho. was never answered, walked with my limping daughter down the long hall to the ER (which is where security sent us after waiting an hour), they didn't know how to help us either. Eventually made it up to the 2nd floor and was able to speak to a woman over the phone with the audacity to speak to me as though I was wasting HER time. After waiting another 43 minutes and calling 3 times, we were *finally* informed that there were 2 children ahead of us and it would be at least three more hours. This is not patient care, not by a long shot. My daughter is afraid and in pain and we were literally ignored, then blown off, then yelled at by your staff. Disgusted. You should be ashamed. Your staff is supposed to specialize in children! No one should be treated like this but certainly not a child in pain. We were sent home with no new date for surgery and my kid is still in agony. If zero stars were an option, that would be your rating. One star implies a modicum of competency. I saw none.
Well I would seriously think before trying to get help here,From the incompetence of the milk lab giving my wife's Brest milk to another baby, then they put you on drop let precautions and they only glove and gown up if they choose, very disturbing as well to witness staff saying things like this is not the first time this has happened and so on, I have a very uneasy feeling about this hospital and all of the events that go on daily, but first and for most is the patient and here at Children's hospital in Aurora you make a person feel unsafe and questionable of the skills of the team because there is no I in team and a divided team is a defeated team! Also when do they clean the patient rooms we have been here for 22 days and they have only come buy 1 to clean floors, there are still blood stains on floor that should have been mopped up since the 24th of Jan, oh and god forbid you ask for some assistance from staff you get the are you serious look!!!!! Very worried that all of the extra is too much for their staff thus the constant miscommunication of staff!!!!!!!!!!#GETITRIGHT
During one of the hardest times of our lives the doctors, nurses, staff all the way to the kitchen staff, greeters, ER, pharmacy etc have all been so supportive. Everyone makes sure our kiddo and ourselves are taken care of! The doctors are amazing and spend time ensuring you understand what is going on! My son has an amazing leukemia team and I couldn t be happier! Love Lindsey Murphy!!
Ironically, Children's Hospital puts way more time and attention into responding to these reviews than they put into actually helping people patients and addressing issues. I tried to schedule a Covid test for my kids because someone in our household tested positive and the school wants a test. They told me they could not tell me the price in advance and I would just have to get the tests and wait for the bill. I'm pretty sure that's not even legal. But that is just another tactic they use to price gouge self pay customers. And they absolutely do price gouge if you don't have insurance. The head of billing straight up told me this was their policy.
Not very happy with either Children's Hospital , Highlands Ranch, or the Colfax location. My Grandson fell and broke his arm last Friday-- 09/09/2016-- my daughter took him to the Children's Hospital .Highlands Ranch location. Was there for almost 9 HOURS . Unacceptable!!!
Then , they had an appointment today, 09/15/2016 at 1:30 for Ortho at the Colfax location. The office couldn't get my grandson's name correct, kept calling his middle name, not his first name. didn't bother to call out his Last name. They were there almost 2 and 1/2 hours.
I work for HCA--- I can understand there are going to be wait times, but these are unacceptable wait /treatment times. I will be calling the CEO of both places. NO STARS --- in orders to post this ,I had to give at least 1 star.
TB
My pediatrician referring this place for Covid test for my kids. I am spending hours and hours to make an appointment.. they keep on running the messages.. nobody lifting so long.. I didn't get the call back also. Lot of hours...
If you drive to the outer limits of the national standard of medical care, and continue for another 30 miles or so, you will find this gem of a place that's better ranked with a negative number--1 star is three stars too many.
My 8 day old grandson was admitted for acutely low oxygen levels on the Friday evening of a holiday weekend. A medical student was sent in to explain the results of a cardiac echo, the residents seem to believe bloodwork is an "invasive" test. The diagnostic capabilities of this crowd is limited. Come with an obvious diagnosis or get ready to be ignored/discharged.
So, without any bloodwork after 2.5 days in house, my then 10 day old grandson was discharged to home with an oxygen tank, wrench, no pulse oximeter, no home visit, no parental formal training in the use of continuous oxygen, no firm medical diagnosis, and no clinical endpoints, with directions to "take the baby to the ER if he turns blue". While the residents were not especially knowledgeable, two of them did share their future career goals at the bedside.
My advice to patients: use Wikipedia, YouTube and Craig's list for medical care and supplies before you come here.
My advice to Plaintiffs Attorneys: this one is a negligence smorgasbord. A veritable Home Town Buffet of negligence. Cmon down!
We felt like such a priority in the midst of a frightening time for our family. The doctors, techs, and schedulers were incredibly personal, and didn't rush us with all of our questions. We were scheduled quickly and efficiently. Would definitely recommend.
Children s Hospital Colorado always goes above and beyond to make sure I get the best care possible. As a young adult with several chronic conditions I understand just how rare it is to find a team that is just as invested in your health as you are. I am forever grateful that I found all the doctors, nurses, and staff members that I have. They have change my life for the better! Thank you, Children s Hospital Colorado for having an environment that fosters healing and heath!
If you have an emergency I highly recommend NOT going into this location period! It's a joke! After calling an uncall nurse she told me to take my two NEWBORNS to the emergency room because it sounded like croup and they needed to go in ASAP, I get there check in and of course since they are in pain they were crying and screaming and both were losing their little voices from their sore throat. I waited over an HOUR to go back while every body who came in after me got brought back, and it was especially frustrating because since I was sitting by the desk they all had medicade and none of their kids were crying let alone even looked in pain with big smiles on their faces. So after waiting an hour trying to soothe two newborns I was finally brought back to have a doctor who must have went to clown school for her degree. While both of my girls had the SAME symptoms she said they were fine and then came back to say only one had thrush?! While both are screaming and wheezing and having trouble breathing So after spending all that time waiting she dismissed me and my children implying that only one was sick after I BEGGED HER to look at them since she was about to walk out. I felt very disappointed and was treated horribly! So feeling like she was not right I went somewhere else where they did blood work and the whole nine yards and GUESS what ALWAYS trust your mama instinct because they both had a viral infection!! She misdiagnosed wrote a bad prescription and didn't even listen to concern, clearly she was in hurry to get home or something. If you can drive the extra minutes go to Parker! AVOID! especially if you are hard working person who pays tax money and carries insurance and pays for it because the medicade abusers get upper hand here!
The hospital itself is great, very easy to get around and the staff is super friendly. but wow is the cafeteria a disappointment! food was mediocre at best and they dont sell anything but diet drinks. nobody wants your aspartame
Name sounds just like another camp a long time ago (WWII). The similarities are eerie. Dr. Frederico has no clue what she's talking about and should be ashamed of herself for not allowing mask medical exemptions for kids with asthma. If you don't know how to do your job, you should stay home.
World class doctors, nurses, staff. Everyone who works here has a clear passion to help the kids in any and every way possible. I am so thankful that this is our home hospital.
Bonnie at the gift shop was so helpful over the phone when ordering a gift for a patient. I really appreciated her help & kindness!
The worst experience ever! Never have I waited for my son to be seen for three hours. And then they just moved us from the waiting room to a room to wait even longer...they definitely made me feel as if my son's health isn't important
We have 3 kids who have all seen various specialists here, at both Highlands Ranch and Anschutz. Every moment has been great customer service, from check in, to wait times, to treatment by staff and always geared to the kids, the aren't ignored. Clean, and feels safe with good communication!
We went to the outpatient dermatology clinic with a referral from our pediatrician for eczema. I am so unbelievably disappointed in the absolutely outrageous charges I received. Very simple visit, no biopsies, procedures, etc. Charges for the physician were $300, charges from Children s hospital was $400. That s $700 for one single outpatient dermatology visit!!!!! I am in total disbelief!! If you are a family that has copays and is responsible for any significant percentage of your medical care BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!! I called and asked about any financial assistance. We will miss the cut off for this and they do not take into account in any way our student loan payments, our own medical expenses and all the other financial obligations we have. Never in my wildest dreams did I image we would be charged so much. Billing kept telling me their charges are in line with other level 1 trauma centers in the nation . We didn t go to a level 1 trauma center we went to an outpatient dermatology clinic in Wheat Ridge!!! We will never ever ever again seek care here unless it is a true emergency and we have absolutely no other option. I'm so disgusted.
Where do we start? This hospital is absolutely incredible. Unfortunately, our kids have been frequent fliers here, but thankfully every experience has been amazing. Everyone on staff has a smile, takes the time to listen to our concerns, builds rapport with our kids, and communicates what they're going to do and what to do once we get home. Our oldest has seen Dr. Kenny Chan (ENT) who was very knowledgeable about a rare fever condition he had called PFAPA. We had a seamless tonsillectomy and recovery was amazingly smooth, and it fully cured him of this challenging condition. Our two oldest have several food allergies and environmental allergies, and our oldest has asthma. Dr. Carel has been nothing but amazing to them for several years as their doctor. She communicates quickly on MyChart if I have a quick question, works closely with their school and with any needs on his health care plan there, and is so knowledgeable of this ever changing field. Appointments never seem rushed - she checks in on how everything is going with them and gives us and them plenty of time to voice any concerns. She also ensures their mental health is where it needs to be with the challenges that come with living with these life-threatening allergies. She and her team take the time to build rapport with them; they remember things like a trip they were going to take after their last appointment and ask how it went - our kids feel so comfortable discussing what's going on with their allergies and asthma. Our youngest has been to the urgent care and ER a couple times, and again the staff has been amazing. There has never been a wait and the child life team does a great job of walking him through what will happen next and bringing in toys and other distractions to make it all run smoothly. I will always recommend that friends bring their children to this hospital. We feel so lucky to have them so close now after having to do many long drives up to the main campus in Aurora.
Wouldn't go back there if I was paid to! My son was misdiagnosed and we had to go elsewhere to find out what was wrong with him. Dr.'s were unprofessional and quite rude.
This Is One Of The Best Hospitals ! Thank You For Taking Care Of My Brother During His Bone Marrow Transplant ..
The personnel is always very kind and helpful, from doctors to nurses to admin staff. My son has a condition where we visit Children's Hospital monthly since he was born, he is now 5 years old. Every single time the care he receives is wonderful. However, the billing is a confusing and the cost is prohibiting. When I have a billing question I'm always bounced between different people and I never get a clear answer so I have to figure it out with insurance and researching it myself. My son's treatment has been the same for 5 years so the billing should be pretty easy but it's always coded differently for insurance, unless it's billed using one specific code my insurance denies coverage so I have to call insurance and the hospital and spend hours on hold and explaining to multiple people the situation.
Also, we have had this treatment performed out of state, outside the Children Hospital network, at a much lower cost. I now have a baby and cannot fly that often anymore. Only giving 3 stars due to the pricing and poor billing department but employees are knowledgeable and corteous every time.
Everyone has been extremely helpful, and any issues we have had with personnel have been takrn care of immediately. Food, care, & service are all excellent.
We just had a baby boy. In our last three visits I can honestly say it was a horrid experience each time. Which was surprising because they're nationally ranked. Not only was our trip to the ER terrible, I get that a childrens' waiting room will always be unsanitary but it was uncomfortable as well. We brought our son in at 9 PM and didn't get seen until 1 in the morning! I'm assuming he was a doctor or nurse but a man came out of the back with two other nurses and apologized for the wait and said if we needed anything he would be back, we saw them leave an hour later. It was loud, there were children crying and disgruntled parents everywhere. You would think for an emergency visit for children they would be more on it and accommodating, I will say this to the nurse that gave us a bottle of formula because the wait stretched into his feeding, she was awesome. but they weren't. we left at about 1:30 in the morning after being told there was nothing wrong and our son was just sleeping. The listened to him under a stethoscope and took his temperature. $650 ER bill. I think not! That aside, our two checkups for our little one, first visit took three hours, the actual doctor made us wait 30 minutes after the Doc in training saw us. She wasn't so great either. I don't know how many times I had to repeat myself. Then when the actual doctor came back in I about slapped her because of the way she handled my son who was only 8 days old. She practically dropped him in my arms. We left telling the check in person that we did NOT want to see that doctor again. I think her name was Ty or some other. We assumed this visit was just terrible and the wait was so long because there actually were a few families in that day. So we wrote it off and hoped for a better experience the next visit. Nope. The last visit, and last straw. First the wait, we were one of three waiting families and the appointment took- 4 hours! For a simple weight checkup. My kid was so fussy being in waiting so long once again. We got in at 3 didn't leave until almost 7. The lady who took our sons blood was not only there late because of the doctors she still had more patients after us and was angry saying after our blood sample she was walking out, that it was ridiculous. After his blood was drawn I went to make a follow up appointment, not only were there still more people in the waiting room but there weren't any front desk ops there! They left at 5:30, so I couldn't make a follow appointment! I walked back to the elevators and ran into my new doctor, who was better than the last i'll give her that but I was so frustrated at this point I asked her, So looks like everyone went home. She said yes, and she was on her way out as well. I asked what to do about my follow up appointment and she said oh just call them and leave a message. If I had chosen the 3:20 appointment instead of the 3 o'clock I wouldn't have had time to get my sons blood test done because the lady would've already walked out. Currently trying to find a new pediatrician for my kiddo, Three visit and three chances were just not worth it. I'm sure there are great doctors there and great pediatricians there but I did not meet one.
**UPDATE** The Hospital's customer and billing lead reached out to me directly after this review. This issue was resolved in a matter of days after a year of dealing with their billing and collections agents.
While I am satisfied with the response I sincerely hope this is a "lesson learned" and they have invested some time in uptraining and coaching their individuals who reach out to customers who have billing issues and concerns.
Additionally I hope they terminate the agent "Don" in their collections who told me there was nothing they would do for me unless I was willing to gather the information AGAIN for proof of billing and talked to me as though I was beneath him, even after I quoted the statute to him.

While the doctors were amazing their billing staff is terrible. Took my son in for an accident that caused a fractured spine while his Medicaid was being transitioned. I was assured they would accept his out of state Medicaid and that someone would be following up with me.
The person in billing that contacted me told me it was MY responsibility to file the claim with my state. When I contacted the state they said the hospital had to file the claim because they have to include an itemized bill. I contacted Colorado children s billing and explained that to them.
I didn t hear anything else and assumed it was resolved until the collections agency the sold the account to hit my credit report. This is federally illegal and has really made me question using them for any of my children s needs in the future.
I just want to thank the suisidal department for helping me get help
One of the WORST BILLING DEPARTMENTS I ve seen in 25 YEARS. Horrible hold lines, don t get bills, bills are incorrect, send you to collections without ever sending you a bill. Multiple bills under different account numbers with the same doctor. I refuse to go to this hospital again because you will have a year plus of billing saga to deal with.
We took my daughter in for burns on her hands. We got an appointment right away, did not have to wait, and the burn specialists were beyond amazing. They made my daughter feel very comfortable. There is absolutely nothing that would have made our experience better .
If I could, I would give Children's no stars. They are absolutely terrible to their patients. We were treated like crap and the way the staff talked to my family was horrible. They want us to pay for this awful service and they don't even apologize for how we were treated. No one at that hospital cares about what I have to say. There definitely didn't care about my 6 month old daughter with a fever of 103.6F. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone with kids. Any other hospital would have been better then this one. Please go to a hospital that actually cares about families and their patients. We talked to the patient relations department and they act like they are concerned and care about you but they don't. No one at this hospital cares about the patients or their families. We have been getting the run around since April with everything that has happened and we are getting no where with the hospital. They will definitely be hearing from our attorney who I bet will get some answers.
The best place to go when you need a pediatric hospital.
Staff are very responsive and professional. Their level of care of top notch and I m grateful to have them care for my daughter!!!
Great place. Our experience was above great here. They always make sure the kids have something to do. Excellent doctors converse to make sure the best possible care is given to the patients.
I can not believe you won't allowing siblings to come to doctors appointments because of Covid!! I don't have a babysitter! So my child just not supposed to receive any care for a pre existing condition. What are single parents with multiple children supposed to do?? So 2 parents can come to the appointment but not 2 children? My child has to suffer because I don't have anyone to watch my other child? So what happens if one of my children has to go to the ER and I have the other one with me... Do we get turned away?? If I didn't love their doctor so much I would never come back. How can you legally deny my child care because my child has a sibling?! This is negligent!!!
Outstanding service, thank you God for blessing the hands of everyone at children's hospital and Ronald McDonald House.
For one of the terrifying times in my life, the doctors and staff took such great care of my son. They my son came there in horrible condition from Kawasaki. They all pulled together, and I am happy to say that my energetic two year old is back to himself. There were Two people that I have to give the most credit to. Abby his nurse, from the 8th floor. Abby, you made such a difference to my son. You were sooo personable, I could feel that you truly cared for my son, you are right where you need to be. There are nurses that do the job for a paycheck.. and there are nurses like you who actually care. Blake still talks about you, and the popsicles you got him... out of everyone there your name is the only one he remembers. I didn't get enough time to truly thank you before you had to leave for your shift. I really hope you get the chance to read this! Keep doing what you do, because you are an amazing person.. and a amazing nurse! second one is to his team of doctors, you all acted quickly and got him the meds that he needed, there was one of your residents.. Kanji. I know that is probably spelled wrong, but he was personable too, he took time to try to let my son warm up to him before he tried to do what he needed to do. Really the whole team was amazing, there were just two who made an impact on me and him.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for getting me my healthy son back.
