If you are thinking about doing business with thes...
If you are thinking about doing business with these people....don't! Run Away! We bought a "slightly" used RV (2020 model) from them. According to the salesman, they sold this unit, serviced it and when the original owners were ready to move up to a larger RV, they traded it in. This 2020 Thor Axis 27.7 was "sold and serviced" by Carolina Coach. That was either a lie or the dealer chose to hide a lot of issues, including a lousy repair of an impact, which was only noticed on a thorough roof inspection...be warned...you should do this before buying...lesson learned on my part. Don't trust RV dealers to be honest, especially Carolina Coach.
We drove from Northern VA to purchase the RV, which was not ready - should have been a major signal. The outdoor TV was missing and apparently just discovered the morning that we arrived to purchase...WARNING...that means they did zero inspection of systems, even though they claimed a complete and thorough multi-point inspection. We were then given a rushed walk thru, which consisted of the demonstration of the control panel, how to pull in and out the slides and a walk around of what was in each outside compartment. That was it. Then we were required to complete a satisfaction survey immediately after, while they hovered over us. All of these alarm bells should have sent me running, but as we all know, when you get the fever you lose all sense of sensibility. Within hours of taking possession of our almost new RV, we arrived at a nearby campground and after set up went inside as a rain passed, but apparently the self-retract for the awning did not work and within a couple of minutes the awning had separated from the RV. We called the dealership which basically wished us luck and reminded me that our warranty is only on the mechanics of the Ford engine, despite the fact that we were assured that if anything at all went wrong with the unit in the first month or so, they would take care of it. Also on this trip, again within hours of purchase, the water pump failed - not the one on the engine, but the one that delivers water to things like a shower! So once we used a long extension cord to secure the awning to the base of the driver's seat, we were able to get home. Needless to say, we were angry, felt like we had been duped, but were willing to see what the true situation was. Back home our 5-star rated RV repair shop immediately pointed out the water pump had not been serviced and was in poor condition, even for a 1 year old vehicle. Additionally, while they were on the roof working on the awning and Winegard replacement, they pointed out the fact that this vehicle had been in an accident and had a very amateur repair. As a result, we needed to have a partial roof repair. All in all, which also included a new battery that was shot, and frankly the costs are still racking up, we are out $5K+ on things that any normal dealership that sells used vehicles would have spotted, repaired or replaced before placing it on the lot for sale, much less someone that claims they "know the original owner and did all the service".
After this, I once again reached out to the dealership about the accident that was not reported. It took several days and calls to get to the manager, who was very nice on the call and said he would chase it down and have someone get back to me within the next couple of days. That was now over a month and a half ago. No call, no email, nothing! Since then the Cummins generator had to be fixed at a Cummins location who asked, "has this ever been looked at"? Now to top all of this off and probably speaks to the number of complaints they receive, I got a phone call from a "representative" saying that we would be receiving a new front grill. I was confused by the call and now am the owner an unneeded front grill, while some other "customer" is wondering where is their's. This is the stereotypical used car dealership we see on lousy movies.
