Worst experience I’ve had with and insurance company thus far. Almost 1 full year since starting the claim with a renewal in between still nothing. I’ve had to involve the attorney generals office and my local congress person to get a phone call back. Cant wait for this nightmare to be over. Don’t let my experience become your lesson. Maybe they were an honorable company at some point just not at this point.

Am living with a very limited financial budget, I spoke with a few different representatives..I was transferred to another, I was greed with a great representative by the name of Pamela Sanchez.. She worked on my policy like it was her own.. She was able to create a plan for my budget.. If you in market for home insurance with affordable prices for , give this company a try..

What a joke I have renters insurance and paid my annual payment through my bank. They complained they have not received it. It was taken out of my account before the policy was due . My band says its a paid and not been returned. They are thieves. I will have to get a lawyer to get my money back!

I am beyond unsatisfied, unhappy, frustrated, upse...

I am beyond unsatisfied, unhappy, frustrated, upset, etc, etc, etc. with this company. Unfortunately, I had a claim over a year ago and they have been less than responsive with my case. Even though my Public Adjuster and myself called endlessly to get a response no one ever did. I even uploaded all my files on their website and there was never a response. As time went by and I kept waiting I received a letter indicating that my claim had been denied for "failure to provide information" such a lie!!!! Currently we are battling with attorneys, but they have not responded since June. Such a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! I am currently in the process of calling the State Insurance Commissioner because this is beyond acceptable. Dragging me along for the legal ride meanwhile I have to deal with the loss. DON'T BUY INSURANCE COMPANY FROM HERE!!!

This second part is a response to your previous message. Last week, you indicated that someone would investigate and contact me. It has been a week again and no contact and still living in these conditions.

I have been dealing with a claim for months. I have been very Upset that I am not getting answers. Voice Mails to Sammy Nasser Ext6655 have 100% gone unanswered by me as well as my roofer. I was to close on the sale of this house on 9/15/2020, that looks as though it will not happen. I may lose the buyer all together because I can not get this claim done.

Today I spoke to Patrice Prosper Ext6853. He helped me more than anyone else has to this point. I thank Patrice for his assistance he did a wonderful job.

I can only hope its enough to finish this claim.

Ive had this company for 10 months. I had flood damage in my house August of 2016. This company is great at receiving my money, but will not move the process forward in helping me receive my funds to fix damages. It took til November to receive a check to start construction, and I have yet to hear from anyone regarding my property loss supplemental check which was sent to them for review in December of 2016.

Affordable rates and terrible customer care. Empty promises, slow processes, terrible communication, and careless attitude is what Ive faced so far.

The WORST!!!! Suffered extensive damage to my home from Hurricane Michael. O er a year ppast and nothhi g done but a roof the paid out the ridiculous sum of $38000+. That's without any explanation of why it cost that much for 1250 sq ft roof. ( maybe a kick back to the GSD costction company). Then tried to pay off my Attorney $20,000 to rush me into accepting a measly $42000. Not much I can do with that for a house totally gutted.
They have been no help at all. I pay my premiums on time and I get horrible service.
With all the negative reviews I wonder how the are sttil allowed to do business. nd if I could find a good lawyer I would consider a class action suit against this miserable company

Dear Universal Property, I find it very perplexing that I was denied a claim for the reported lost date of 04/19/2020, and my next-door neighbor Dave Martin was approved. This is about claim number FL20-0122624-M620.
Now we both filed a claim on the same date. We both had the same damage.
Both his roof and my roof were installed in the same year after hurricane Ivan.
The fact that you denied me and approved him shows me that you guys company is inconsistent. Furthermore, it doe not help the fact that the claims adjuster seemed to have a massive problem with my contracting company Apex Roofing, which in my opinion, caused and created instant tension between everyone present during my roof inspection. Because of the tension between Apex Roofing and Universal's claim adjuster, my claim was denied.
I will be filing a complaint. I am not pleased or happy with how I have been treated.

As of September 29, 2020, a gentleman by the name of David Leven called me and we were able to discuss a few things and come to a resolution.
This insurance company seems to be turning things in the right direction.

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. We filed a claim on October 3, 2016. After several phone calls and left messages we still have no resolution nor have we ever received a return phone call. All I am told is that they are busy, the claim is being reviewed, the review has been expedited, etc. We have heard every excuse possible. Now we have had to paid almost $7,000.00 out of our pocket and we are still waiting. Monday will be 6 weeks since the claim was filed and our house is still a disaster. If I was 6 weeks late paying my premium my insurance would be cancelled but they do not afford the consumer the same courtesy of getting claims resolved quickly. We now have to hire an attorney to get this resolved. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

It's been two years since I filed my claim and I received 3 weeks ago a $11,547 from the insurance company to start my repairs. Please keep in mind that 11k was court ordered. The judge made Universal give it to me. They would not release it to me for months.

I submitted the check to my mortgage company to be endorsed and the mortgage company is requesting for Universals to send me their estimate of the damages that were done to my property by Hurricane Irma. Universal's attorney has yet to respond to any of my attorneys request for this estimate to be given to me.

In the two years that I have been waiting for Universal to send me the check, I had to work extra to keep up with repairs. I became pregnant and was a high risk pregnancy. My house is only two rooms and due to the damages done by the storm, I am left with only one room.

I slept in the sofa and gave my 10 year old the room with the bed during my entire pregnancy. My room was full of mold and the walls had to be removed, and rats came in. That was 12 months of my pregnancy.

Move forward to 2019 and I received the check to finally fix my roof from Universal. And I cannot touch it because Universal will not give me the estimate of the damages.

I am current on my mortgage, I pay for house insurance and when I ask for what I think should be given to me by Universal they have ignored and pro long this process. 2 YEARS.

At this point, there is no Justification for this. No apologies, no anything. My house may not survive another rainy season with this roof.
Do me a favor Universal and don't reply with a short message to contact your claims department through email, you have completely dropped the ball on this one.

She immediately contacted me when the claim for my carpet installation and subsequent issues of quality and lapsed time was submitted.
Throughout the process of reviewing all the information
needed to assess the value of the claim...which is always frustrating and stressful...Jodi kept in constant contact and answered all questions.
Her handling was professional, and she had confident expertise to explain various questions submitted by me.
Jodi made the process of submitting a claim no hassle situation unlike other experiences.
You have a fine employee and an examiner er who knows her job.

This company has excellent prices as well as very fast response time to customer needs. It literally took me under 10 minutes to secure coverage and have a binder sent to my mortgage lender! Excellent service! Highly recommend. Now I looked at the history of reviews and I am scared I made the wrong choice!!!!!!

I am in the middle of a claim with Universal (my first) and wanted to let someone know that regardless of the outcome of the claim I feel lucky to have been in contact with Asiah. She has always shown the professionalism and competence that you hope to experience when you are dealing with an agent but, in addition, she conveyed a sense that she genuinely cared about my concerns. While I cannot say that this is rare I can say that it is not usual. It was a refreshing change from the common robotic responses of agents in other companies. I can comfortably say that my conversations with Asiah have left me with a very positive impression of Universal.

My home was hit by a tornado approximately 2 weeks...

My home was hit by a tornado approximately 2 weeks ago. The same day I contacted Universal and informed them. They told me that they assigned my claim to an outside adjuster (a third party company) and they would contact me directly. Approximately 5 days went by and I called Universal back to inquire about the adjuster coming to the house. I asked if I could have the name of the company that was contracted to prove the adjuster and I was told that a company was not yet assigned. The gentleman on the phone basically told me that I have to wait for the adjuster to contact me, but he was not friendly at all. Maybe he was having a bad day, with the tone and influxion in his voice. So I chalked it off and ended the conversation. The next morning the adjuster contacted me (what a surprise) and scheduled to come out that same day. Once finished, the adjuster told me that I would need to contact Universal again in order to get a copy of the proposed damage and repair statement. So today, one week later, I called Universal back in order to get a copy of the proposal and to find out what to do next, but I was told to call back in another week to speak with the Universal adjuster that will be assigned to my case. I asked her I would receive an email letting me know who that adjuster would be or if they would contact me when that person was assigned and she said probably not. I would need to call back in a week. At least the second person that I spoke to was a little more friendly, but not enough to say that Universal provides friendly and courteous customer service. You would think that if my house was hit by a tornado (through no fault of my own) then Universal would do all that they could (constant communication and friendly customer service) to make sure that their customers were completely satisfied. I feel that if a person is paying monthly for a service then the company that is providing the service should do everything possible to make sure that person is 100% satisfied. Now, I do realize that it is not possible to satisfy everyone, but attempting to do so goes a very long way.

I am very disappointed because after being approved to install a replacement garage door I just needed to email them the invoice and it would be paid within 30 days. That was April 15 and now that it is August 18 and I still have not received any reply emails or a phone call to explain why they lied and have horrible business practices. If you are a contractor, I would have them pay 80% up front so you can at least pay for the materials and the employees. I wish I could give less than one star for this experience.

I was hesitant to go with this company due to never having heard of them before. So far we have been pleased, good rates for coverage. When getting our policy we decided to add the mechanical breakdown coverage and boy am I glad we did. Not quite 2 years after purchasing our home the HVAC has a crack and can not be run at all. So I called to see about that coverage. Customer service was very helpful in getting me started. Tiffany McCall contacted me about the claim and made sure I had what I needed. She is a rock star!!! Made it so easy. Very pleased with everything about experience.

Jodi Spilotras was great and quick to help me out . Its been almost a month since i started this claim and seems that some people that answered my calls didn't really want to help me out and just said to call back next week. When i called today to tell her what was going on she took charge and processed my claim right on the spot to the final stage for final approval for the supervisor. I am leaving my a 2.5 stars right now because the first 3 weeks was very taxing on how slow and how uncaring the process was. Don't let her leave this company. She seems to be the few that actually cares for people and this job/position. I hope she gets Management position asap.

The past few months have been stressful for me due to the damages on my property. Its always little scary going through the process of filing a claim and waiting to hear back and obtain the funds. Claims Examiner Bryan Connor went above and beyond to ensure my claim was processed in a timely manner and all documents were received for processing. The level of customer service was just outstanding and I now see Universal Property and Casualty in a new light. Thank you Bryan for all you have done to make a bad situation great.

I went out of my way to make sure they had everyth...

I went out of my way to make sure they had everything they requested for my insurance and at first things went well until two weeks after my closing. When I got letter stating an increase of policy for $261.00 more. I asked them why, they claim they got wrong info on building. Remember they had everything from me with over 75 days in advance and now I have to pay the price for THEIR mistake. I couldn't make changes to policy so I had to cancel policy and re-write a new one. To my surprize they did not prorate my refund properly...well they prorated to their terms. I ended up paying $74.00 for fees that were duplicate. They told me sorry but that is their way.. so I lose $74.00 for their mistake not mine. They were adamant. They don't care about you. It is the bottom line for them. As soon as this policy expires i am going elseware. You should to.. stay away from them...now they send me an email with a story to justify their poor service. And, NO, I will not remove my NEGATIVE report. You earned it. Pay me the money I lost because of your incompetence and maybe then I will add a positive response. By the way, again my policy was cancelled then reactivated.. they have MORONS working there...

I had two claims a few months apart and the claim rep, Jodi Spilotras, picked-up that and started handling both claims. Jodi Spilotras responded to phone messages and emails very promptly always empathetic (as much as an Insurance rep could be allowed) and professional. We had a fair amount of give and take regarding the claims and Jodi was fair but tough. Good for you Universal!

Only four stars to Universal (sorry Jodi) as their WEBSITE email system did not work in a timely manner and Jodi did not get what she needed unless I sent it directly to her.

Jodi gets 5 stars, Universal only 4.

Our field adjuster for UPCIC promptly called 1 day...

Our field adjuster for UPCIC promptly called 1 day after filing for a claim online to schedule an inspection and review; after explaining I could not make the days he was available due to my travel/work schedule he asked if I could see him now... implying how adjustable and understanding he was. He arrived within 90 minutes after our phone call and was thorough on explaining my policy, its limitations and coverage (which did not apply since they covered everything anyways). Very happy with the transaction and especially happy when he said it will be noted on my account should I need to do any supplemental claims when the contractor digs into my drywall and determines that further damage was done and needs corrected. Thank you for the timely response to my online claim, adjuster presence, claim payout so that I can hire a repair contractor immediately.

I was quoted by your company for a closing within 30 days only to abruptly find over the weekend Philadelphia will not be covered anymore! Now there is a delay in closing and I may not be able to purchase my first home! This company doesn t seem as serious as a State Farm! I tried to give them a try but they clearly have a different agenda!It doesn t seem they want to grow at all! This company is the worst company hands down, that I've ever worked with. You can never speak to a supervisor and when you are sent to the supervisor' s voicemail, it's full (I wonder why). The agents tell you whatever story that they make up for that particular day because none of the stories are the same. I don't know where they get their training from. I advise everyone to do your research before purchasing insurance. The extra $10 a month will be worth it. As far as my house. We are living on ply wood floors because this company is taking it's precious time to get us what we need. Horrible... Horrible... Horrible

As an independent agent I work with the majority of home insurers. The company that has the most consistent rates and best customer and agent service is Universal Property & Casualty. They have a fast track claims service that in many cases will get you an adjuster within 24 hours and a check within 48 hours. I have no question when I place a customer with Universal that Universal will honor their commitments.

Comparing this company versus Citizens, I would say this company has better rates, better customer's service, and a more extensive client's follow up and claim resolution. High 5 to Universal!

After the claim was filed, our contractors had norh8ng but praise for the thoroughness and attention to detail on the claim paperwork. They said the other mainstream companies ,or SF, AS, are never that way and routinely miss many of the details covered in my claim. And Chad, the adjuster , was very helpful and was prompt and thorough as well. Very pleased with entire process and will have a customer as long as they will have us.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT USE THEM!! Had them as our home insurance for 3 years never missed a payment. Kitchen ceiling sprung a leak 9 months ago. Still cant start construction because some supervisor named william and his buddies at the company do not answer phone calls, emails or return calls or emails. They will not give a check to the contractor to begin the construction. Black mold is setting in in the whole cieling. Still cannot get a response. I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are very responsive when you need nothing from them or are not a customer yet. Once you need them they disappear. Pay more elsewhere with a trusted insurance company. All they do is tell you to contact support but then support says contact a supervisor via extension, then forwarded to voicemail. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Worst customer service. 30mins to reach the right agent just to ask simple policy questions and no one could ever find my account, I don t want to even think about how hard filing a claim could be. Not only that, there was a week that I call them for some questions and they were closed the entire week due to a storm that was on a different state 600mi away. Worst service I ve ever experienced.

Our Claim was somewhat complicated due to the nature of the loss, however we got a lot of support directly from the claims supervisor, Alex Koji, who made dealing with the claim a lot easier and faster. It's horrible when a Hurricane hits, but it is a lot comforting to know that a company like Universal Property , represented by someone like Mr. Koji, makes a world of difference in treating us more like friends than customers, and make us feel secure and safe.

Our agency recently opened a branch in FL. We needed a competitive market in the area. Michael the agency's marketing rep was there to help us from beginning till end in obtaining an appointment. Once appointed Michael's help did not stop there. Answering our questions with reply emails late night and holidays. Good rates, good products, good UW, and good broker services!

My home was literally destroyed by Hurricane Irma and I had to file a claim(for the first time) to get my home/life back in order. While I see all the negative reviews and I can certainly empathize, once you get the RIGHT person the process actually works.

After considerable delays and administrative nonsense (including dealing with many uncaring folks at Universal) , I was finally fortunate to work with Jodi Spilotras and she was fantastic!!. She was responsive, professional, and expedited my claim(s) in an efficient matter.

Thank you so much Jodi for all your help. You have made a horrific time in our lives a bit more bearable.

This has been the worst experience dealing with an insurance company that I have ever experienced. for over two months I have been waiting on claim information. every time I have called the claim line, I get told it's in review, when asked to speak to a manager or supervisor I am given a number for someone who never returns calls. this is unacceptable for any company.

DO NOT INSURE ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! I filed a claim with them at the end of February 2018 (currently April 18th), it took over a week for an inspector to come and take a look at the damage. It took another 2 weeks for them to give their report to Universal Property (After I made several calls to both Universal and the inspector they contracted). It took 3 more weeks for a claims adjuster to call me (again, this is after multiple calls each week to ask the status, offer any information/pictures of the damage I had, etc.). They finally claimed that they were mailing me a check for the damages (no movement on the reimbursement for hotel/food that I had sent them on week 3), and that I should expect it sometime the next week. No check the following week, so I call them back and they say that it hadn't gone out yet but it will that week, still nothing to verify MY check goes out. 2 and a half weeks later, still no check! I've been calling daily and they have brushed me off at every step of the way and every time I call they tell me it's USPS's problem and somehow forget that I have sent in all my receipts for reimbursement even though I have told them and they have found them EVERY TIME I CALLED. I have now called and told them they need to overnight my check, and their response is that "to overnight the check you will have to mail us an envelope with overnight shipping already paid for". I still have not gotten a check, and there has still been no phone call regarding my hotel/food costs while I wasn't able to stay in my home. DO NOT PURCHASE INSURANCE FROM THEIS COMPANY!!! THEY WILL DRAG THEIR FEET THROUGH EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE PROCESS. As of right now I still don't know if I'll need to involve a lawyer or the BBB, but I'm about ready to.
UPDATE (4/20/18): After 2 frustrating calls yesterday around noon, I received a call yesterday afternoon from Jennifer Marty (Claims Manager) who was exceptional. She called to let me know that she was fully aware of the situation, she apologized for the frustration and said she would resolve it immediately. Less than an hour later she emailed me with a tracking number for BOTH my check for damages and my reimbursement check for hotel/food. I received both checks today.

Beware this Company! They use "Bait and Switch" tactics. Initially you get a really good quote and rate then after you pay money and think you have a policy they change the replacement value of the property that in my case nearly doubled the annual premium. They think they have you then, the paper work you get is so confusing that you really cannot tell what is going on. They say you owe a minimum amount at the time but when and if you look deeper you will see the Policy Premium has increased dramatically. God only knows what would happen if you actually had a claim - BEWARE!!

Very unhappy with this insurance company. Had a major hurricane wipe out my house and they said I didn t have enough damage to meet my deductible. Had another public adjuster come out and had over $337,000 in damage. I cannot wait till we go to court with this company. I have nothing but money and time to sue this company. Have several other friends going through the same thing with this company. I am sending in pictures and videos to the company to prove all the damage. The air quality and moisture company came out and have to replace The east side of my house. This company hired the worst PA to come out and did a horrible job that s why they say there s no evidence but they are about to have all the evidence

It all depends on who you work with! My claim had been open for 5 months and I kept getting the run around. Information was never communicated, documentation was never requested, I was constantly transferred to someone who needed to "review my file" and could never get a concrete answer. One irate phone call got me assigned to Ann-Marie Brown and that was history!!! She is by far THE BEST claims Adjuster there! If she says she's going to call you.. sit by the phone because she will. In one week she got my claim handled after 5 months of sitting! She's reasonable, detailed, thorough and takes time to fully understand your case. I really wish all of their employees were like her!

Will never use Universal insurance again after a major storm event and losing power my sump pump broke and lost everything in my basement. first they tell me im covered and then deny my claim after i have already had servpro come out to help thinking i am covered... so now not only am i out everything in my basement plus
the repairs needed i have a bill from servpro that i cant pay thanks Universal.... You pay for insurance and when you actually need it guess what DENIED... They are here to take your money and when you need them deny... If you are thinking of using this company do yourself a favor and dont do it.

to universal's reply... I was told on the phone i was covered then after the fact i am told i am not covered please check your recorded calls....

March 9th of 2019, We had our worse nightmare come...

March 9th of 2019, We had our worse nightmare come true. All of the cast iron pipes under our house are cracked and cause severe water damage in our home. We had a 35 foot trench in our living room, went with out a kitchen for 2 and half months. All while living here with two small children and two dogs. I called Universal insurance the first second I realized, this is not going to be good. Terrified for my home and family when I first called they took down my information. 7 days later after many phone calls, they had no sense of urgency at all. Finally an adjuster showed. After he left he said he would immediately process our claim and was very concerned. We have had two master plumbers replace the main sewer line in only our main living space. Today is now April 29th, I have called the insurance 7 times. No response we have had to spend over 40k dollars to fix our home, and our bathrooms are still not complete. Two plumbers have said our entire home needs replacing. We still have to tear up both bathrooms and our driveway to finish. Not having the money for a hotel, We have had no kitchen, no running water for weeks. I have , called and begged for financial help from insurance, no response. I have asked for a supervisor, no response. All they say is Of course your covered, we are still making our determination. We pay for insurance of course they will help. WRONG! Its ridiculous we pay for insurance for a reason. And universal doesn't care at all about my home or my family. If you have any other options for your insurance. We still have thousands and thousands to spend, there is no reason for this! Take it from me STAY FAR AWAY FROM UNIVERSAL! And if you do have them hire someone right away for help. This insurance company is TERRIBLE!
