Overall the location is great and the room was clean. Place is in desperate need of updating especially the flooring. For $40/night they charge in fees the internet was slow, dial up slow. Also only had the room cleaned once as the person who cleaned it turned off the thermostat and didn't turn it back on so when we got back to our room it was really warm in there and took 30-40 minutes to cool it down.

I have been pretty disappointed in this hotel. The best thing about it is that it's about as close to times square as you can get, and the ac works pretty well. Unfortunately, the entire hotel smells like they used excessive amounts of cheap air freshener. Faucets leak, drains and phones don't work, noise travels easily, and housekeeping is sub-par.

I came to this hotel for my cousins birthday weekend, and all I can say it's only good for its location. The lobby misleading! The rooms and hallways to the rooms, were disgusting. We noticed a nice patch of hair in the shower before any of us even used it. There is 1 star for location and another star for the pretty flowers in the lobby that smelled wonderful.

At the beginning of November my best friend and I ...

At the beginning of November my best friend and I visited NYC and booked this hotel on Expedia. We chose this hotel because of three aspects; the location, the price and the pictures on Expedia advertised it as clean and spacious. When we first got to the hotel we were pleased because the lobby is nicely renovated. Check-in went smoothly so we headed up to our room.

As soon as we stepped out of the elevator we noticed a significant difference between the lobby and the floor our room was on. Our first impression was that it was run-down and dirty. We got to our room and the carpets were stained, the ceiling was peeling, the bathroom was mouldy, and overall felt unsafe. We did not feel comfortable sleeping there. We decided to take a look at the rest of the floors in the hotel and noticed that they were all the same.

We called our Expedia travel agent that day to ask if there was anyway we could change hotels. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything available therefore he called the hotel himself and spoke with the manager to see if an upgrade was possible. Thankfully another room was available the next day.
The next morning we went down to check-out and get our new room. The front desk receptionist apologized and was a big help! She told us to go up to our new room, and she would have someone bring up our luggages.
We were moved to floor 5 and as soon as we got out of the elevator we were relieved because the hallways looked much cleaner than the rest of the floors. We got to our room and was again relieved because it was much cleaner, and a big improvement from our previous room.

Everything was great until the bellhop knocked on our door and delivered our luggages. We opened the door and offered to help but he was very rude right off the bat. All he said was " Don't worry about helping, just worry about my tip!" My friend and I were shocked by this comment but thought he was joking, however he made us feel extremely uncomfortable as he would not leave our room until he was given a tip. We were appalled by his service. This was very disappointing and unacceptable! Please retrain some of your employees on proper customer service.

I would like to say thank you for accommodating our room upgrade, but will not be staying here again.

I ll give it to you straight. This hotel is a budet hotel, they put all their money into the lobby and the rooms are very dated and worn. These types are referred to as broadway hotels because the only reason to stay here is for location. If you re looking just for a place to sleep after you ve been out in the city all day then this is perfect. If not I recommend the New York Palace, The Marriot, Pod hotels, or the hilton. You can usually get a good feel by looking at pictures of the rooms as I did with this one before i booked.

I was very nervous about our reservation here due to the reviews. However, we really enjoyed our stay. The lobby is clean, check-in went smoothly and the staff we interacted with were friendly. Our room was clean, we have no complaints. It's in a great location. I would definitely stay again. The bathroom vanity was a little small, but would not prevent me from booking again.

Just awful! The walls in the corridors actually have cracks all over- just like the bath tub. The springs in the bed were broken. When I put the privacy please sign outside my door for the day, ran into housekeeping, who actually said could you put the sign back in? I won t clean your room, just so my manager doesn t see it . So unprofessional. When I checked out and paid the resort fee, I gave them a different card to charge than the one I left on file at check in- and of course they charged the wrong card, despite clear instruction. In addition to these unacceptable things, there were also other things that would make staying at any hotel inconvenient: no outlets near the bedside tables; so if you want to charge your phone there were only two outlets far from the bed, 4 inches above the ground without anywhere to put it, you can charge your phone on the ground. Oh, and there is no fridge, so god forbid you eat out and have leftovers or just want to keep a drink cold. When I called the front desk to ask for something, instead of sending it up, they told me you can come down and get it . And the wifi ha! Every time you leave the hotel and come back you have to sign in with your room number, last name, and email, then wait about 5 minutes for it to connect before you can use the wifi again. The location is very good, but if you re looking for a comfortable experience for a trip to New York, I would really look elsewhere.

Very good hotel. Excellent location for being 7 blocks from the best south entrance of Central Park. It is also about 10 blocks from Time Square and on Broadway, meters from the theaters. Tip: subway lines B and C both leave one block from the hotel on Broadway. It has an old-fashioned but functional style. Avoid rooms on Broadway because street noise can be heard at night.

Nice, just wish the room was bigger and it had phone charging accommodations. The outlets were in the most inconvenient of places. Felt like I was being punk'd. Lol. Great service though and couldnt have a better location.(Times Square)

Room was disappointing. They advertise renovated rooms, but put us in an old, dingy, musty pre-reno room, saying they only have a few renovated rooms. We were able to upgrade (at our expense) to a smaller, renovated room for the 2nd night, but the thermostat didn t work right. We would set it to 60-F but after about 5 minutes it would default back to 75-F...every time we adjusted it! I called the front desk and they transferred me to guest services who never answered. We ended up waking up every 30 minutes all night to readjust the thermostat. Also bag check is 90% unattended be prepared to wait while their bellhops wander aimlessly.

The positive reviews are for the high floors and expensive rooms. Regular rooms such as 1135 and of course floors 7 and below that I was told is a shelter for homeless to get them off the street. I have traveled a lot and hands down worst place I have ever stayed. Disgusting, filthy, bed bugs, false advertising as AC does not in many rooms especially C section. My daughters grad trip was spoiled by no sleep in boiling hot room. Mangement and staff beyond rude. Need sensitivity training. They are working in a nice AC lobby which is very misleading to the horrible hotel condition. They have a 40.16 daily charge for things I would never use. It feels like extortion as you are forced to pay regardless. So bad, do not stay here.

Hello, I am reading the reviews, from Barcelona, Spain, I am about to close a family trip to N.Y, with stay at your hotel .... but ... I do not know if you can assure me the comfort of my family !!! Is it a nice place for them ??? Thank you

The hotel is in a very good situation, which allows you to move around the city, if it is true that the rooms are a bit old and the fees that apply are a little high but it is common in the city.

Would not recommend to anyone, don't book this hotel. The staff are rude and they charge 250 dollars for severces you don't need even if you don't want them, and they didn't mention this, I was just asked for a credit card with no word that they planned on taking all that money. It looks like they have spent all their money on the foyer as the rooms where shabby and dated. Also the first 10 floors are occupied by homeless familys.

There was an issues with my room upon arrival. However I was thoroughly impressed with how empathetic and accommodating Valerie and Yaevick were. They found me a suite that was so much better. They even personally walked me to it first To ensure that I was comfortable and happy with it. This is what I call excellent customer service. Way to go above and beyond to improve the customer experience!

Great location however was disappointed once we left the lobby and headed to our rooms. Rooms are very old, no convienent plugs for charging electronics, creaky old bed, styling old and unmaintained, bathroom old beat up and generally unclean looking, towels thin and course. Wifi was good so that was a nice plus.

Super awful. They advertise upgraded rooms and don t have them- only on one floor. They also only have 2 elevators for all of their floors because they reserve one elevator SOLELY FOR UPGRADED ROOMS TO ONE FLOOR. one elevator in a hotel going to one floor for an upgraded room makes no sense!! The line ups for the elevators were absolutely huge while one elevator went to one floor. How does that make sense? The hotel is advertised as non smoking but when people were smoking openly on our floor and we called front desk they told us there was nothing they could do. What? How? I have been to NYC Many times and this is the worst hotel. Especially in Times Square, there are a dozen hotels for the same price that are much better. I don t even want to get into the hotel rooms, the bed sheets were dirty, the walls were stained AND there s an expensive resort fee for extras you will never use and one flimsy bottled water. Absolutely awful. Do not book here.

An experience to forget ...
The treatment of the staff was unfortunate, they get angry if you do not give them the tip they think they deserve. They have inappropriate and rude attitudes.
The rooms are regular, the size is not adequate for people who say they can accommodate.
The only good thing about the hotel is its location.

Horrible!!!!!!!!!!!! The hotel used my credit card fraudulently!! Along the four days I spent... charging more than 2000 dollars. When I called them to share the bad experience, they put me on hold for hours....they charge me different amount for nothing!!!! And it has to be ilegal!! What type of customer experience this brand wants to create?? This is not a trusted source!!!

Terrible! Spend your money somewhere else. Not helpful and very disappointing stay. My family and myself will no longer return to New York City for a long while and it's all due to their unfriendliness.

Not very clean, the drains in the tub and sink don t work very well. Elevator wait time is ridiculous, end up having to stand in line for 15 minutes just to get to your room. Service staff will excessively knock on your door until you open, even if you did not request any service. I wasn t very pleased with my visit and will not be staying here again.

We stayed here in May this would be a 2 star in the UK. We were on the 3rd floor and our room was in need of an update. Very tired room. I got injured while l was here in May by a peice of metal sticking out from the bed which was on the wrong frame. The director of front of desk was supposed to get back to me whithin 7 days and lm still waiting. Its a pity l can't upload the photos of the injury. I feel humiliated by how l was treated. The lady on the front desk who said she would contact me within 7 days was Raluca Avacariteu. My son has messaged the hotel on several occasions and no-one has contacted us.

my daughter and I in NYC for weekend---we ordered room with king size---bed is not king size---more like queen----tub was FILTHY---FILTHY---FILTHY----I had to scrub disinfect wash clean it out---have not been cleaned in months----also the water takes so long to drain after each use-----
no chair in room---they accommodated --bought chair to my room---I already took a chair from the hall-----telephone in room not working-informed front desk as well---I should receive a refund--because working telephone with long distance etc is being charged to this room under fees-- I do not own a cell phone and needed to use the damn phone--
service staff outstanding--well, the bell men, the cleaning people even the person who came to say yeah your telephone does not work---I do appreciate this hotel for having parking--shame you cant go to your car and retrieve a forgotten item----this is my 2nd or 3rd time staying here

*This is an update which is late and should have been written weeks ago....the Manhattan compensated us for our experience--the manager sincerely apologized---we will return as the customer service is excellent--and we did stay [before] and did have a better experience....we enjoy this hotel and want it to be our go to hotel when in that area of NY

The hotel is near to Times Square. You can reach everything from this hotel. I really enjoyed the stay. Unfortunately it was impossible to open the windows. The staff was friendly and this hotel helped us with stolen money. Thanks for the Service!

The location is good. The staff is good. The amenities are comparable to hotels in the vicinity. I had issues with using the Groupon, as it did not allow me the opportunity to specify the number of beds, but again, the staff offered a free roll-away for the confusion, as they had sold out of doubles. Next, the hotel is in need of updates. I know it is an older building, but it is far over due for an update. The walls are discolored from age. So are the showers. It makes it look dirty even if it's not. I did walk in on housekeeping unexpectedly, and I can assure you it's clean enough to eat off if, it just looks dingy because it's old. Also, the handles for the sink faucet were stripped and difficult to use, and the furniture was a bit worn. For the price and location, this place is good, but not a high-end 4 star hotel. Again, I cannot stress how accommodating and quick the staff was, which made the condition of the grounds and the Groupon deboggle much more tolerable.

The pictures of the rooms on the hotel website do not do justice on the actual rooms. Carpets are super dirty and bathrooms are so outdated it's not worth the expensive price we paid. Very unsatisfied.

Very functional hotel services ... especially for travel to JFK Airport. Inside the hotel, in the lobby, there is a souvenir shop and city guides; a bar that serves breakfast ... very expensive and of a low standard with croissants packed in nondescript plastic bags. The rooms are old with a smelly carpet, slightly narrow beds despite being for 4 people; the bathrooms are small and need a freshening of the walls and a revision of the taps marked by time. There is no mini-bar but on each floor there is a space that offers a hot or cold water dispenser and ice, plus a paid drink dispenser. There is a gym on the 2nd floor that offers physical activity equipment (a bit small for the number of rooms): 2 treadmills, 2 exercise bikes, weights and a "multipurpose" machine. The offer is subject to a fee of approximately 50 USD for 5 days per person. Upon arrival, a deposit is paid which is then subtracted the amount of the hotel services and the rest is credited back to the credit card (normal).

Unbeatable location in Manhattan ... 10-15 minutes walk from many places, but it is very outdated. It seems they haven't painted for 20 years, and the carpet ... ufff !!
How positive, the beds, the sheets, and the cleanliness of the room in general (although we had a day that forgot to do it !, we assume it was a mistake).
The attention of the staff, regular ... It depends on who attended you. I was surprised that in general they didn't speak Spanish (in NY it's weird). It is a giant hotel and the Lobby and the number of people serving it seemed very small for its size.
In general: I would not return ... I think there are alternatives in the same area of better quality at a similar price

1st time in New York. I knew as soon as we entered the lobby this was going to be terrible. Since we had to prepay just tried to make the best of it. Got off the elevator to the floor of our room. Carpets old and dirty, doors damaged and dirty. Our room was old, dingy taps leaking and carpet ugly, old. The hotel needs a total Reno.

It was very discouraging when I received a bill under the door of our hotel room. The bill was for a facility fee of $49.00 , I have stayed in Time Square hotels on many occasions this was the first time there was an additional fee. I missed the small print. When attempting to speak with the desk clerk about the charge, he was very dismissive and rude. Advising me I'm able to do a review. The hotel was not clean the icemaker didn't work on my floor and the carpet was all loose and bunched up. I use groupon always for NYC visits. I will look twice next time.

No stars. Really. We are in the middle of a snow storm in NYC. and the corporate charged us an extra 50 dollars for early check in. Also a 32 dollar Resort fee which surprised us. ??? For what free wifi??? Hotel is old. Paper is peeling. Looks haunted.

Got this dirty hotel through Expedia. Showed up around 7PM to a long line, with about 30-40 dumbfounded guests milling around. Apparently they had computer and phone issues that were causing delays. After waiting for almost 45 minutes, I finally got to the front of the line only to be told that my room was not ready. Mind you it is now close to 8 PM am no clean rooms, this has nothing to do with the phone lines. The manager, a woman at the time seemed understandabley overwhelmed, and told me that she would call my cell when ready. FYI she never called. I decided to get changed, in the dirty lobby bathroom and head to dinner. We got back around 12:30 AM, where there was still a bit of alone so I proceeded to the side of check in and was greeted by Adam. I told him my frustration and he offered me a free breakfast for my 3 other guests and a waiver of the 30.00 maintanance fee. I obliged and started my way with my room keys upstairs to my room. The hallways were noticibly dirty and run down, def not a hotel u would think would be anywhere near Times Square. I tried to open the door and it wouldn t open. I went back down stairs and told him, the door would not open and wanted to speak to a manager. The manager had nothing to say. No answer, to my annoyance. I asked if they could send someone with me they said no. That this time it would work, and there was a phone in the hallway if there was an issue. I went all the way to the 17th floor and for the second time it failed to work. No phone in hallway so I went back down to the lobby where then they finally agreed to send someone up. Still the room did not work even after the msintance man tried. I decided to call Expedia and cancel. Left at 1AM with kids and it ruined our whole mini getaway, we basically left the city and drove home. What a joke! If there was something that seriously wrong, why not have more staff!!! The manager did not care about us whatsoever and should not be in management. What a dump. The manager kept on saying there was nothing he could do over and over as I made my exit.

We stayed at the Manhattan a few years back... a great experience we had! This time... they gave us the wrong room... had to wait a hour for right room! Rooms were horrible at best... old dingy rugs! Then they dropped my daughters computer in the lobby tiled floor!
Not to mention how RUDE the bell guy was to all the clients! He was barking at them to all wait and how he was only one person!
NEVER staying there again!!!!!

if it weren t for the location of this hotel it wouldnt even get one star. terrible over pricing and customer service. first day of checking in, a really nice man helped us with our reservation. no problem there. went up to our rooms time of check in and for the price we paid, I expected more honestly. once check out came around, all we were told that was going to be charged was a deposit (which supposedly they return after check out) and a facility fee. (they also let us know all this at the beginning of our stay) all of a sudden, the lady up front says something about $65 and when I ask her what that charge was for she replied oh no nevermind it didnt go through. the facility fee. that makes no sense at all????? after asking her again she didnt want to give me a straight answer and kept avoiding it. I asked her one more time what would be charged on my credit card and she clearly said a deposit, but that will be returned once I check you out and the hotel facility fee. travel back home and the next day there s a double charge of $65 on my account. something they did not mention at all. I call the hotel to ask why this was being charged and told me it was an authorisation fee for the facility fee. are you kidding me? an AUTHORISATION FEE???? as if me authorising $32 a night for facility wasnt enough. ridiculous.

Although the location is nice, the rooms are dingy and outdated. We walked into ours and noticed it hadn't even been cleaned yet. Rooms are so old, paint peeling, dust everywhere. Asked for our money back, went a few blocks down and got an amazing room at the Hilton

We stayed in the executive Class rooms on 18th floor which was nice and modern, however we heard a lot of complaints about the rest of the hotel been poor, we witnessed people complaining at the front desk.

We stayed in room 1818, very noisy with lifts going up and down all night, however the room was nice and fresh and great shower.

Breakfast is a coupon for a coffee or orange juice and a piece of fruit and a muffin or crossint.

Great location but hotel could be much better.

Very central but very average

It needs a comprehensive reform. Especially in the bathrooms and bedrooms
