We were in December 2019. On arrival they did not have the room we had booked. We were 4 people and the first night we were put in a room for 3. One person had to sleep on the floor. For the following nights we were changed rooms but the 2 beds were narrow. The treatment we had on arrival by the staff was bad.
The only good thing about the hotel is its location.

Great

SLUM LORDS! For $400 a night plus $100 last minute "facility" fees, you'd think the place would be a little better maintained. It's beyond old and dated, it's down right falling apart and disgusting. Do not believe the photos from the website, classic bait-and-switch! Everything is an up-charge, you hear and feel every spring in the bed, moldy, stained, and broken. I guess you're paying for the location, a decent view, and friendly staff. Good luck.

Excellent location, good service, rooms nice and big, warm and comfy bed, just getting outdated and tired and need refurbishment, sockets loose and not working, wallpaper hanging off the walls, carpet ripped and old, otherwise satisfied for the price for 4 nights

The rooms would need a major renovation.
Breakfast With the service of Mohammed and Dolly perfect.

Average hotel to motel standard. No restaurant, bar or room service. Elevator and lobby is always over crowded. Room interior, carpets, curtails, washroom plumbing, noise from next room etc. are quite sad. But the bedsheets, pillow covers and towels were fresh and clean. Good quality Wifi for free. Location is most convenient, I literally walked to most places and when I had to take the subway, most lanes were within 1-2 blocks. I would give about 2.5 stars over all.

Disliked - old and dirty carpets in rooms and corridors, dirty air con. Unhealthy place, I became ill allergic crisis without voice. I went with a friend, they put us in a double room only one bed claimed they had no other accommodation and if they were placed another bed would be charged. Unattentive staff, no courtesy, indifferent.
Would not recommend.

The stay was pleasant but the room wasn't ready until 4pm, it was surprising that they couldn't turn over the room any sooner than that. Additionally, we had a booking in an executive suite and those rooms come with a complimentary breakfast but that's limited to "a fruit, a beverage, and a pastry" - a bit misleading when they describe this 'perk'. Lastly, the hotel has no movie channels/PPV options to order movies and the channel selection leaves a bit to be desired. The thermostat wasn't working properly, it kept blowing cold air even after we turned the temperatures up. The rainfall shower head was a nice touch for the executive suite. The hotel is very well-located near the Ed Sullivan theater and we were in town to attend a taping of the Colbert show so that's the primary reason we chose The Manhattan at Times Square as our hotel for the night. The bellman staff and check-in team at the reception counter were very friendly.

The hotel has a great location and the room is simple but comfortable and clean. The worst thing was when in the end of our first day, when my family came back to the hotel, we were very disappointed with the receptionist. OMG, how that woman was rude for no reason. So sad when it happen.

Check your room, mattress was stained along with the pillows. Room could of been clean way better . Manager was very helpful sorting us a replacement room but the cleaning manager was not bothered about the state of the room and took no responsibility for the state of the rooms.

Very clean, very well located

Very clean, very well located
simplicity of the entrance hall contrasting with the bedroom on the 18th floor well appointed to the height of the position
not very disappointed better than the Sheraton where I stayed for 5 days
discreet service smiling professional thinks of the comfort of the customer and we see that he likes his hotel
the most important and appreciable thing 4 USB sockets allow charging of mobile phones tablets without any adapters

Old rooms with stains on bathtub, dirty carpet, old towels. I stayed in 2 different rooms and they were both dirty. The place needs new carpet and a paint job.

Plus the bell men are sexist. Watching women in a disrespectful manner. If you want to pay $210 a night for this place you ll be better off paying $250 or $270 at the Hilton or Sheraton. Both hotels are across the street and worth the money.

The hotel itself is ok as far as the lobby and elevator goes. Beyond that, the bed is it's only saving grace. Our king bed was comfy but it seems as if they hadn't vacuumed the room in who knows how long. Dust in the corner, someone else's hair pin in the floor... Ceiling was cracked and the bathtub was old but that's to be expected of an older Manhattan hotel. Overall was ok, wouldn't stay again.

Rooms were dirty dated the wallpaper was falling off the wall for what we paid for this place you would think it would be a little nice compared to surrounding hotles. Very displeased .

First of all, nothing looked like anything advertised in the pictures. Upon arriving, the concierge couldn t find our reservation and took my cell phone in the back office for about 10 minutes. We finally get checked in and go upstairs to find outdated hallways with dents and scuff marks along the walls and doors. Inside the room, the bathroom had shoe prints and the carpet looked like it wasn t even vacuumed. The thermostat barely worked and didn t start cooling down until it was basically time to check out. Rooms also aren t soundproof at all whatsoever. Starting at 6 am, all we could hear were doors slamming and people talking. We should have read the reviews before booking and will definitely not be staying here again, especially with a $50 fee for the parking garage

Elevators are very slow and skipped our floor numerous times causing us to be late. Some of the service was really rude but some were very nice. Rooms varied widely even for paying the same prices and they weren t the best quality. Good location though.

We absolutely loved the hotel!! The staff was amazing to the kids. For a busy hotel, they took the time to remember our names & made us feel at home. The location could not have been better. Can't wait to go back.

Lovely location. A very nice and comfy room for a business trip. The price also was so good. And especially their staff who valued their customer. All the wants they give it to you. They served great food as well. All in all, I give them a thumbs up! A five-star rating for this hotel. I will definitely visit this place again.

Best things about this hotel are the location, friendly helpful staff, and the oh so comfortable beds & pillows. The place is definitely in need of a refurbishment but for what you get for the price you pay, you certainly shouldnt be complaining! I'll definitely be staying there again as soon as the 'Corona-Apocalypse' is over! Thank you Staff at The Manhattan.

Have only been here one day and not very thrilled....

Have only been here one day and not very thrilled. It's a pretty expensive hotel and the amenities are not up to snuff. The lobby is immaculate which is the slyest form of trickery. The rooms and halls are old, scuffed and gross. Wallpaper is peeling off the walls, water damage on the walls, floors are disgusting and it's just very old and outdated. The sheets are aged and there is just no care taken for anything Furniture is dingy, damaged and scuffed up. The bathrooms don't have any ventilation vents. And the mattresses sink towards the middle.

Update: They updated our room due to my complaints and it was a hilarious lateral move. We were told that the 5th and 18th floor we're the floors that have been renovated and by renovated, it basically means the wall paper is not coming off of the walls. These mattresses are not new. You can literally feel the springs pressing through. BUT we were given around with a outside door that goes out to a balcony. That is a view of a...wall! Yes, a wall. You can look at up and see some of the buildings. And all of these balconies are only separated by plants..meaning that you can walk all the way across the patios for every room on that side of the hotel. So safe.

There are way too many hotels in this area in this price range that are beautiful. Go somewhere else. I was stuck here for 5 days and I'm very upset about it. Don't make the mistake I did.

Fairly nice hotel in uptown Manhattan. Very affordable for NYC. The bathroom could use a little better cleaning. All in all, very satisfied. The photos are the view from our 11th floor room.

I was very upset with my stay at the Manhattan Hotel this past weekend. After arriving late at night, I was greeted to a room that looked like something found in a Motel 6. There were stains on the carpet, scratches on the wall, and a bathroom with a toilet that looked like it belonged in the middle of a correctional facility. The next morning, I turned the shower on to find mold all over the shower liner. I ran down to speak with a manager and he apologized and told me he would relocate us to a better room. He did. The new room was great. But why was I not put in that room before? It did not make any sense. Also the biggest turn off was the number of people that hotel was accommodating. It was INSANE! I had to wait over 15 mins to get into an elevator and the lobby was just jammed pack with tourist and luggage. It was a complete mess. The staff even commented that it was out of control. I was very disappointed with my stay at The Manhattan and would never recommend it to anyone. The place is under staffed and overcrowded.

The location and staff were the best part of the hotel. The rooms were dated and dirty. If I could show you pictures of the furry smoke detector, the banged up walls, the crusty bathroom ceilings and mold around the tub you would be turned off. The bed was clean, so that was a plus. We have stayed at a few other Times Square Hotels and were pleased. Not staying here again.

This is the worst experience that I've ever experienced with a hotel!!! Especially from the mamnger I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!! Also I don't suggest booking this hotel at all. They charged me for a hotel that I didn't even stay in and refused to refund me my money back.

A hotel well located for being in all the heart but uncomfortable for its access, it has NO direct entrance from the street but only by elevator! Fair rooms and small bathroom. The only restaurant during breakfast no queues to enter q and q you feel, the temperature little nice (everyone goes cold) and service except someone, inattentive.

Windows disgusting and TV had a sound shortage!!!!! Bathroom horrible. Not told about breakfast or 1 day advance on airport shuttle! No food/drinks amenity in this pricey hotel. Filthy carpet! Wasted money indeed. Maybe 20th floor & up are better rooms......such a ripoff!!!!!!

Can t beat the location. The staff was lovely, but the rooms themselves were a bit on the low end. Very old and dirty tiles and flooring in the bathrooms. Fixtures in the hotel were very old and didn t work well (the lights mainly). The thermostat didn t seem to work so the room was very warm. Was good for the quick stay I had, but doubtful that I d return.

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE!!! It is absolutely disgusting! EVERYTHING is dirty, the hallways are completely stained, wallpaper is peeling & the pictures are bogus! I booked a 3 night stay. As soon as I got to my room (at midnight), I immediately checked out! The manager still charged me for the five minutes it took me to bounce. DON T STAY HERE!!! #truestory

This hotel does not deserve any rating at all and stay well clear. Firstly when I walked into my room, it hadn t been made up. It was a mess. Secondly the coffee machine didn t work and finally, I go to the gym only to find my room locked out by cleaner and waited 10 minutes for security. Hotel walls and doors filthy and need of an upgrade. Better places to stay in NY
