Outdated, poor customer service. I've been in the customer service industry for over 30 years. Their customer service definitely needs some work. Otherwise it's a great deal for the price.

Booked the room from Friday-Sunday. Checked in and was given the wrong room size. Had the front desk switch us to a king size room like Expedia guaranteed we would get. Upon trying to take a shower, noticed the shower floor was absolutely gross. Stained, molded. Called the front desk, they stated they couldn t get me another room due to being sold out and they could try to switch me in the morning. So I m expected to stay here in this dirty room because the reviews online are fake?

Nice hotel with friendly staff. The room was huge as well as the bed. Everything was clean and comfortable except for the door that was really heavy to pull open. The location is fantastic!

The location and staff are great at this hotel. However, the room was dirty and dated. When we checked in, there was a dirty towel still hanging on the bathroom door and a spot of MOLD on the tile about the size of a grapefruit. The bathroom was just plain gross, could have really used a deep clean with some Comet. Our air conditioning kept our room frigid cold even though we had it set above 70 degrees and spontaneously quit in the middle of the night. In addition to the lack of cleanliness, the housekeeping was incredibly loud and began their services around 4 AM. For what I paid, I expected a much nicer room but received a truck stop Hotel 6 grade room. Also, in addition to the excessive nightly rate, I had to pay a "hotel services" fee which I still do not know what it was for since services were minimal. Do not recommend.

I'm sure I'll get the same copy and paste apology that everyone else gets from Able, but if I can save at least 1 person from wasting their money then this review is worth my time. This hotel is the dirtiest place I have ever stayed. There was blood in the bathroom, mold on the pillows, the carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned (as in vaccumed) in a very long time. The only reason we stayed was because the hotel was booked by a third party. If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would. The air also didn't work and it was unbearably hot. We barely slept the whole weekend. I also believe a couple of floors are shut down and used as a shelter or short term rentals for low income families. Overall, this place is just terrible. I can't wait to get home and wash everything I brought and pray that nothing creepy or crawling comes back too. Run as fast as you can from this hotel!

I had a wonderful experience when we stayed here for our anniversary in May. For the price and location it was great. All the reviews talk about a small bathroom and A/C. I felt the bathroom was large enough after all you are not sleeping in it. The room was roomy and the beds were great. We spend 4 nights and the next time I go back to New York I will stay there without a doubt. The front desk was very helpful and willing to do whatever to please you. Yes the Wi Fi was extra but this happens in a lot of the hotels. We were busy sight seeing and didn't mind not having the WiFi. Please know that we really enjoyed out stay. There is a great place to eat less than a half block. We had a full breakfast for less then $8.00. The location is great for walking to the different attractions.
Thank You Manhattan for a wonderful hotel stay.

Nice rooms, very clean. Could use a bit of modernizing some of the floor lobbies, but overall very good. Excellent location, very good concierge services, coffee shop in the lobby open during the morning

The customer service was welcoming and friendly, and the location is within walking distance of so many New York City activities/attractions. The view out of our room was great, and the room was what you d expect from a hotel at this price range; clean, but could use some renovation. Overall we were happy with staying here!

Location was fantastic, directions given by the desk weren't good at all. However, the man and lady who did the breakfast, William and Dolly, were fantastic with directions very friendly to everyone including children, they were lovely people and probably the best thing about the hotel! The rooms however were not at a high standard at all.

After reading reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, however I have no complaints about our stay at all. Upon arrival we were greeted by a polite gentleman and promptly checked in. Lobby nicely decorated and clean. Our bed was big and comfortable, large TV, decent shower. The location is unbeatable, in the heart of Times Square and surrounded by many places to eat/things to do. All in all, a pretty good place to rest your head after a day of travelling/exploring

The hotel is getting a bit old. The rooms are generous for NY. The location is perfect in every way.
Nevertheless, I think that the hotel would benefit from a soft renovation. The carpets are getting on in years.
If you don't have very high expectations, the hotel fits. I wouldn't book it anymore.

Old hotel with old fabric carpet in the rooms. Curtains of old and dirty rooms with dust and stains. It strives for appearance and conservation. Despite the great location, I would not recommend it.

We will NEVER stay at the Manhattan in Times Square Hotel again. Right when we entered the lobby of the hotel, it was too warm and uncomfortable. The room was small and definitely not worth the price that we paid. The room was 77 degrees and we could not adjust the temperature. When we called the front desk, they said that we could not adjust the room temperature! It felt like we were sleeping in a sauna! It was so warm that I could barely sleep through the night. The view was not that great either. The restroom did not look clean. We should have stayed at the Double Tree. We stayed at the Double Tree the last time we visited NYC and it had a fantastic view, the room was much larger and a great deal for the price that we paid. We actually booked the hotel stay through Hotwire and found a cheaper price on the Manhattan at Times Square Hotel website after we booked through Hotwire. We tried to submit a request for the difference between the rates for Hotwire's "Low Price Guarantee" and our request was denied. We will not use Hotwire again either.

This hotel was in the middle of renovating certain levels of their hotel. Unfortunately we good one of the old rooms. Which was dirty, had old smelly carpet and the bathroom was in a bad state. After staying one night I spoke to the manager who understood our frustration and gave us a refund for the rest of our stay. If this hotel updated all their rooms next time I visited NYC I would stay here, as the price was very reasonable. The staff were very friendly, which isn't always the case in NYC.

the first room I was placed in was small and had a queen bed, I saw that the other rooms were bigger and had a king bed, so I asked the reception to place in another room. and the gave me room 1618, which should not be habitable because of noises coming from the elevator mechanism.

the sheets had a smell that was extremely unpleasant, the bathroom had hair in it, the floors were dirty, there was blood on the bedside lamp, and the general condition of the hotel was bad with the exception of the lobby.

because of the noise coming from the elevator, and the smell of the sheets, I had a bad sleeping quality.

I would never go this hotel again. When I go back to Home after staying this hotel 3days, me and my girlfriend skin is itchy and tough. I doubt that the hotel bedding article had never ever cleaded

I can not give you a star, we stayed this week staying there, on a trip organized by agency, old and dirty rooms .. the bathroom is the worst ... the foot of the shower, if you happen to look around in the bathroom you leave ... dirty tiles, all broken, blackened, carpet full of dirt and ancient dirt ... we found a candy And there it was until we decided to remove it ourselves ... And the workers at the reception the final shot, people despondent, unpleasant ... we trying to communicate with them in English and they watching you and repeating in a loop you can phrase without a minimum of empathy or kindness, 0 in all senses, not even saved by location, there are 1000 hotels in the area ..new a little more expensive surely ... but they deserve infinitely worth it.

In a blizzard, with all transportation shut down, getting in on the last train into the city, the manager would not let us in the lobby to wait for our room. This hotel lacks common courtesy. The staff has no empathy for a paying customer. Someone who reserved two nights, was unable to cancel and not helped in the least bit.

We booked over priceline and it had a 4 star rating , the hotel didn't meet 4 stars at all so we decided to make the best out of it. The room was clean but old and run down. I really hope that soon some renovation will be done and that housekeeper get trained how to clean a room properly. This is an easy fix with a checklist..Management should thake the time to inspect the rooms. 600$ for 3 night's is a lot of money breakfast is not included and you only have coffee for free in your room when the housekeeper fill it up, so i had to search for one to get coffee. Usually I would only give two stars and they are for the location. My 3th Star goes to Jack he made our vacation really special. We needed directions he gave it to us made us laugh and he will be allways a memory of this vacation.

I am hosoedada since monday, the location is great but we were poorly received at check in. We were charged an insurance fee that we were unaware of, absurd and to make matters worse our ckm chip card does not pass in the card machine. The very thick attendant only said that the card did not pass.

Last night of a 7 night stay here at the Manhattan Hotel. Picked this hotel initially because of the photos on the website and the location.

Would rate the lobby and the staff here close to 5/5; the rooms on the other hand are closer to 2/5. Found out that some of the rooms are renovated and majority were not.

I would show photos of the room, but would rather not have those memories burned into my head. There s a $32USD resort fee that s also charged to provide internet, access to the fitness center, business center, and two refillable water bottles. Fees add up quickly when staying 5+ nights, which I would not mind if the facility is nicer, but definitely not worth it here.

If you choose to stay at the Manhattan, please check your mattress, pillows, and basically your entire room before unpacking and sleeping. You never know what creatures you might be waking up to!

Save the hassle and look else where. The only thing going for this place is the location. Check in is 4pm. What the hell? Currently sitting in the lobby at 3:18pm and there are over a dozen people waiting. Have to pay a $32.00 fee per night for WiFi and bottles of water. Ridiculous. We went through Groupon for our stay and wish we didn t so we could cancel tomorrow and just stay elsewhere. Also there is no breakfast. I d say you get what you pay for since the price is nice but even Holiday Inn has better ammenties than this place.

EDITING: Yes I was caught off guard about the ridiculous fees because Google says you have free wifi in the hotel details....

For the price this hotel definitely needs to be refreshed. They are hiding behind the fact that they are near times square but there are other priories nearby that are much better with similar prices

This hotel is in a great location but is far from having nice rooms. We did not get the room we had reserved yet we were still charged normal price. We spoke to the front desk and as their big apology gesture, they gave us 2 souvenir mugs... Which obviously does not compare to the amount of money they should have refunded us. The rooms are not updated and they were not clean. Ours smelled like smoke even after requesting a non smoking room. You can get more for your money!

This place is horrible ... It's 65 degrees outside and the Hotel has no air conditioner... I have to stay here because it was crazy just to park ... We had to strip naked n sleep with the windows open ... If I can take away the one star I will ... This place is just disappointing

I simply loved my stay, I was super well attended, upon arriving I received a room upgrade and the room was amazing with a beautiful view of the city and the very spacious room, not to mention the cleanliness which was always flawless. Would go back for sure!

Anniversary of Tears! I have never seen such an appalling lack of hospitality from hotel staff! Even after arranging for early check-in weeks before arrival we were still subjected to hours of wait after our red eye flight. The front desk agent didn't even greet my husband and I, nor look at us while checking us in, I informed him of our early check-in status. He sneered at us and told us that we have to wait 3-4 hours for our pre-assigned 18th floor Executive Suite! We finally got our Suite and we might as well have checked into Motel 6! Our shower should have been a bath, the drain was clogged and the handles weren't functional! We felt disgusted with the unsanitary condition! Mold was on the ceiling! We tried to get some much needed rest and was kept awake by the noise! Maids slamming doors, construction, and a constant dripping from a leak in the wall! The Manhattan is Ghetto! I spent my entire anniversary in tears that was ruined by the hotel staffs complete disregard of our pre-arranged requests, and lack of communication after our complaints to the front desk personnel that same day! We had to contact the Property Management before the Assistant Manager would contact us to try to resolve the situation. Unfortunately our Anniversary Vacation was ruined by the Manhattan Hotel and it's staff before he even called! Don't stay at the Ghetto Manhattan at Times Square New York!

Loved it. Amazing place. Heard a lot of negative things about rude New Yorkers, but I'm hear to tell you. I was treated very nice and found them very helpful. Can't wait to go back.

After 17 hrs of being awake and traveling we were greeted by big beautiful smile at the reception and were checked in 10 min time:) room is clean quite on the 20 floor beautiful views and neer waited more then a minute for the lift. only thing you can hear doors closing from the other rooms . location is the best, you are close to everything. and to use this oportunity to say BIG THANK YOU to Leon -guest manager who left hand written card and small present for my gilfriend whose birthday was on 25 th december.

With the exception of some of the staff , this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in NYC ! And completely ruined mine and my daughters New Years Eve experience! Our room , which I basically paid double for during the holiday, was horrible! The TV didn t work right , as well as the phone , the wallpaper was peeling and the bathroom shower paint was so badly peeling( which I did not see at first) that when I was showering a big piece fell on my head startling me thinking it was a bug and I slipped and almost fell ! I spoke with the manager who was giving me a new Upgraded room the next day at noon ! Needless to say I had to wait until after 3 pm to get my room and the manger on duty then ( Wesley) was less than helpful , rude and seemed as though he could care less ! My UPGRADED room was exactly the same 5 doors down and I guess from upgrade they meant no paint peeling and the tv and phone both worked ! However the first beds box spring was broken and made noise with any small movement!!!! Absolutely Ridiculous! They claim newly renovated, but leave out it s only the 18 th floor ! I was also told I would not have to pay the resort fees , but then charged me for one night ! I have pictures and documents of all accounts and plan to contact The Better Business Bureau , Consumer Protect , and any and all Media Outlets if I am not contacted in a timely manner with some sort of resolution and/ or compensation concerning this matter!

Pictures were a little misleading. Underside of beds were not clean. The place is very old and outdated. It's a decent price for a stay but the fees are crazy to stay. No breakfast offered.

Great location, right in the heart of New York. Only 10 minutes walk to Central Park and 5 minutes to Times Square. However the Hotel is nothing special, old rooms and corridors. In my opinion it is in need of some renovations. There is no room service. There is no restaurant.

We booked a room through trip advisory & paid for ...

We booked a room through trip advisory & paid for everything including hotel fee* for my wife birthday weekend (Aug-18). We reserved a room with two queen mattress. was suppose to be a weekend to spoil my wife with a nice room, wine, spa, just relaxation from her job in the military.
but everything went south really fast, upon arrival the clerk behind the desk was extremely rude, just nasty, and didn't care to understand what we were explaining about the booking reservation, she kept telling us we would have to pay a hotel fee* (even though we paid through Trip Advisory) and told us what we do with trip advisory dont have nothing to do with them, and i asked "if y'all dont have nothing to do with them then how'd are we getting a room that we booked through them" the lady kept telling me she dont care that they have nothing to do with what trip advisory charge us and we still would be required to pay the hotel fee, then she told us our room was ready and that they switched us to a king mattress with a roll out bed (which was way cheaper than what we paid for) so i asked what about a refund for the room we paid for since we getting a room that cost less, she told me no other rooms were available, trying to stay positive we took the room, made our way up only to find the room in horrible conditions, soon as you walked in the wallpaper was torn, there was mold all over the room and bathroom, and the room we thought we getting from the picture their site & trip advisory promote wasn't nothing like the room we got, nothing luxury about the rooms here except on the 18th "EXECUTIVE FLOOR", so every other room looks worst than Motel 6 rooms, our room had trash and dirt on both sides of the bed, that bathroom had mold on the ceiling, around the soap holder, and on the silicone around the base of the tub, another thing is pest, ROACHES, i went to get ice & water and there were roaches on the water dispenser, and ice machine and the area just looked so dirty, when i went to tell the lady at the front desk she told me to goto another floor, but guess what MORE roaches, so when i tell her and showed her the videos, she looked at me with a look, like i wasn't good enough to have water from a clean dispenser, like i just needed to suck it up, she went grabbed me ice that took her literally 30 minutes to get because she was huddled up with other coworkers laughing and talking, and pointing at me and they all kept looking up at me, that's when i decided to write this report because no one should have to experience anything like this from a place of business, this place is literally the worst when it comes to service, location good, that it. when they switched my room to a two queens, we had to ask for a shower curtain more than 6 times, and when i went down to ask again the lady said "UGGGH" and stormed off with an attitude. I don't know if the garage service is through the hotel but MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR VEHICLE FOR DAMAGES cause the workers literally drives crazy, speeds, brake too hard, and jerk the cars just to move 2 ft to the garage door. Good luck to anyone whom books with these guys, you'll need it.

If you are in search of a hotel with the normal comforts don t stay here! This hotel was horrible. If you don t mind a bathtub that won t drain and nasty stuff coming out the drain, filthy carpet, uncomfortable bed with gum stuck to it then definitely stay here. When I called the front desk they sent someone up and I was told that s just how the hotel is. It takes 45 minutes for tub to drain, so 45 minutes between baths for 4 people. This is a complete rip off for the money they charge. I ve seen a Motel 6 that looked better than this. Don t be fooled by the renovated lobby it s a just a nice front to a dump. There are a few renovated rooms but you ll pay out the ass for those. Can t believe Groupon would put this hotel on their site and endorse this disastrous hotel. Damn shame!!!! Other than that this hotel offers the best location!!!!

This place could use some cleaning and updating. After a long day in the city, I arrived at the hotel for some rest. It wasn't until the next morning I realized there were dishusting stains on the pillows, so the bedding was clearly not fresh. They charge for wifi whether you need it or not. The bell hop is incredibly unorganized, and there seem to be a lot of staff standing around doing nothing.

Please Don't stay...We stayed at the Manhattan this past weekend and were very disappointed. Although we did not have big expectations considering it is rated as a 3 star hotel, we did expect it to be clean. The hallways were dirty, the beds were old and gross and the rooms just left a lot to be desired. Bathrooms ohmg yuk....so dirty....
I can't imagine this hotel does not have the funds to do a little bit better for the guests.
Just awful experience......Hotel keys were not working, in a day i had to change the keys for 5 times.....Elevator sucks....

Just don't stay nothing else

The rooms were small and very outdated. The rooms were extremely warm and the only way to cool off the room was to open the window. The faucet dripped all the time, the bath fitter on the tub was loose... a lot of small things like that. Unless you've been there before, you wont know that it costs 50 dollars a day for no access parking or that the internet costs 15 dollars a day. It was a good experience overall for me and my husband, but next time we'll probably look for a hotel with a little better quality.

Very disappointed with this hotel. We booked a trip checking in there 31st and leaving 3rd. Because of the new year celebration, the whole time square was blocked by huge amount of police that we not aware of till we get there. We tried to get around the police and they keep telling us we need to walk 10 more blocks. The weather that day is extremely cold and freezing. our flight arrived at 12:30 am. We didn't not arrive hotel till 2 am. My parents were carrying our huge luggages and we almost begging cops to let us in. For my parents who came to US as their first time, it is a very bad impression of new york. The hotel really should let us know that the entire time square was blocked!!!!! My mom ended up crying on the street. We finally get a tricycle person to talk to cops and letted us in. And, that took us 105 dollars!!! The hotel really should let us know this ahead of our trip, but they didn't.
After we went inside the hotel, from priceline, we booked a two queen bed, however, once we in the room, there is only one king bed. I ended up sleeping on the roller bed the whole time which hurts my back a lot. Never will book any hotel around that area!!!! This hotel is so horrible, did not worth a 4 star!!!!!!!
