Gillece Services Review

Tried charging my elderly mother $10,000 for a new gas furnace. All Pro Plumbing installed the same unit for $2,400.
Gillece Plumbing should be avoided at all cost but if you do use them, make sure you have another quote.

I host an Airbnb in Pittsburgh, and one of my guests flushed a big hair clip down the toilet. The serviceman (I wish I could remember his name) from Gillece was AWESOME. I am so glad I called because the damage could have been way worse. Very fair pricing, and prompt with appointment. I will call again if I am ever in need.

Asked them for estimate, charged me $50 for estimate and their price was $7000.00 and some change. I was shocked and asked another company did the same job for $350.00. Yes $350. Just be careful when you contact them

We had Gillece out to our hose to inspect and rewire a connection for a ceiling fan. The technician was very nice and knowledgeable. She provided two different estimates - which was nice to have options. She completed the work in a timely manner and gave us piece of mind. On top of that, we called on a Saturday afteroon and they were there the same do for no extra charge.

Excellent service. Ed was courteous and professional, and fixed our problem that very same day. I will definitely use them again.

It doesn't deserve any start. I had called Gillece to checked clogged line and Paid up front visiting fees. Their procedure is to give you quote for next step. And I was not happy for the quote so said never mind we will do our-self. But technician was very rude he said if you don't do than I will complain to health department and he did. Also talk to their office they didn't take any action it's all mess. I will never ever call them for any service.

Tech was not eager to complete the job on a 98 dollar drain clear.

I called Gillece because my furnace was blowing cold air. The tech came to my home and checked my furnace.. he told me after 10 min that my inducer motor and my gas valve needed to be replaced. And it was going to be about 1300 dollars.. I told him that I couldn t afford that the day after Xmas.. he said that the inducer motor is still working so it could wait.. but the gas valve needed to be replaced to have heat and it was 800 dollars.. I paid him and he said somebody will be in touch in a hour..I had to call them and they said I had to wait 2 days for the part. Since I had to wait 2 days.. I decided to get a second opinion.. had a different furnace company come out and they said that the valve was working fine and so was the inducer motor He said that my pressure switch was bad it the part was 35 dollars.. he put it in and it s working fine.. bottom line is.. beware of gillece.. they are rip offs get a second opinion or don t call them.. they are liars and scammers.. they will try to sell you parts you don t need!!! Trying to get my money back from them now.. if they give me the run around about that.. I will be leaving another review soon.. stay away from them!!

Pricing was steep, but generally good advice and freidnly staff.

Company typically does a good job. However they keep pushing my grandmother's appointments back or rescheduling for the neat day at the last minute.

Tako and Ron were phenomenal and explained everything to me and answered all of my questions.

I had an issue w a DIY faucet replacement and contacted Gillece. Plumber Dave Luton arrived to review the situation and provided me with several options to move forward. As I had the project started, I requested possibly receiving an adjusted cost to complete everything. Dave was very courteous and contacted his boss in an effort to help me out, and was able to work with me thru his boss to come up with an agreeable price. All the work was completed in a timely manner and cleaned up when the job was completed. He is very personable and was attentive to my requests, which helped in completing a project that needed quick resolution.

Great response time, nice clean work, all options explained clearly. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive, and you can't beat a 36-hour turnaround from initial call to wrapping up the job -- others we called were booking 4 weeks out. Tiffany V. was a great technician and was both friendly and professional. She also brought some other issues to our attention, including one that even the home inspector missed: the electrical service wires to our house were broken and could have caused extensive damage due to unbalanced load. Recommended!

Needed a water heater replacement called on a Sunday and was told a tech would contact in the afternoon, call from office said no tech available untill Monday. Not bad but not as advertised 24-7 service. Techs showed on Monday at 10.30 am. Discussed options with quotes. The techs were knowledgeable but very arrogant. They wanted 856 .00 to install a heater I purchased, with minimal labor ( old heater was already removed) and no warranty because I did not purchase the heater from them them, both items were Rheem with same warranty and size. Priced a tankless 1600.00 heater and with installation with filtering in the line was quoted at 6000.00. WOW. I am sure the work would have been done on time and professionally. Also a Rheem heater provided by them was quoted at 3000.00 with installation. I purchased a Rheem at HD with same warranty and size for 1075.00. Tech claimed his Rheem was much better .The tech defended the crazy prices by telling me how great he was and how much he needed to make a living too, and the company need to make money also. He claimed he was educated like a doctor. Consequently I hired another plumber who installed my provided heater for 350.00 same day with two men doing the job.

John Russell from Gillece came over to unstop my tub drain. He was very matter of fact about it; got the drain unclogged in less than 30 minutes; gave me some good suggestions and was on his way.

Wish there would be more plumbing pros like him.

I called them around 2 pm and they put me on their schedule on the same day and the cost was not expensive

The worst experience ever-would not recommend to anyone!!!!!! Had a $320 repair done. Had a technician out 3 separate times to "fix" the repair that was never fixed the first time (for $320!!!) On the third visit was told they need to repair again and would credit the $320 towards the additional costs??? I told him absolutely not and he needs to have a manager call me. he said "I don't need to do anything." and proceeded to walk out the door. Unbelievably rude and, perhaps, the poorest customer service I've ever experienced. Haven't made the call to manager yet, but would give a no star review and will NEVER use again.

Our technician/electrician was very professional and knowledgable.

They advertise for $93 drains and sewer
opening but when i called them they would not tell me how much they would charge on the phone and when the technician shows up to open a shower drain he say that he will charge me $400 to open one drain (to remove some hair in drain) or 65$ for his professional visit without doing anything... these people are scam

I'm very happy with the plumbing service that I received from Gillece. I saw their commercial on TV and decided to contact them after 2 months of exasperation with a local plumber that gave me a quote and a promise to start within a couple of weeks. A man named Owen from Gillece showed up 3 days after I contacted the Company. It's now less than 1 week from that initial contact and the work is all done! I wish that all people that do residential work of all types could be like Owen. He is clean, kind and professional. He has Integrity. He took at look at everything that I needed done and gave me a written quote. He then asked me if I wanted him to start working that day! I thought the quote was good but I needed financing. He took care of that right away. I now have a low $49 a month payment with 18 months same as cash. He worked all day yesterday putting in new pipes, a new hot water heater, and he switched out my old disgusting laundry tub for a new one that I had purchased. He made sure that everything was in perfect working condition, checking and rechecking all the work. He was great, and I will request him in the future for any plumbing work that I need. Also important to me, my dogs loved him. Dogs have an uncanny way of knowing whether or not you are dealing with an open, honest individual. Thank you Gillece for taking care of my plumbing work and thank you Owen for making it painless. Like I said "very happy!"

I was very pleased with the service that the technician (Tako) provided. It s always helpful when you are given honest information and not pressured to buy a product.

Over priced and always making customers do work to their homes that isnt necessary. Quoted $10,000 for a job that may take $500 that has now killed two real estate closings. Prey on the elderly where my parents had a simple clog in their sewar line, ended up replacing the entire line for a grand total of $25,000 for a 50 foot line.

In the first instance, they were able to com over on short notice, which is always somewhat amazing! Also, the particular electrician that they sent over (sorry, don't remember his name), was one of the nicest people you could meet. He reviewed the situation, explained the options, gave me three estimates--one for each option--and stuck to the estimate/option I picked. He was also good enough to notice another potential issue I had with an overloaded switch box and gave me a separate estimate to consider on that. He completed the work quickly, and gave me the greatest confidence that he completed the work as it should be!

The services was excellent fast, thorough and efficient. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

I asked for the 99 dollar 10 outlet special they tried to charge me 9700 for a new service line and I paid 1300 for 12 plugs. These people are known in the restaurant business as cheats. I was in a jam I should of listened to my peers. Do not get anything from these guys. Wayyyyy overpriced and a rip off!

I am writing this review for my elderly cousin who was scammed by these crooks. She had a problem with her floor drain backing up, so she called them to come unclog the drain with their $93.00 special which is a scam too. They came to her house and told her that they could not unclog the drain and that they would have to dig up the floor and replace the trap an short section of pipe. I live 300 miles away from her so she called me and put the plumber on the phone. I spoke with him and he told me what would need to be done and stated with certainty that this was all that could be wrong ad it would cost no more than $6000.00 which I thought was a lot of money. He gave me all these excuses of how he would have to get permits and then have Allegheny county inspect it. Well as it goes my cousin called me the next day and said that it was going to cost over $10,000. The told her that they had to do the additional work or it would not pass inspection(what a scam). Companies like this that take advantage of elderly senior citizens should be run out of business. Probably roto-rooter could have done the job a lot cheaper.. If you are smart and value your money DO NOT use this company or you will be scammed too. If I could give them no stars I would.

Update: butler sewage already working on repairs for NO COST and new quote to replace 80feet line $2900. Whah a different in price.

I wish I could give a zero so everyone will be warned. Horrible scheduling. Overpriced.

I scheduled due to a pipe under my sink in basement backing up. They scheduled me on Tuesday from 8:00am-12:00pm, I received a phone calling at 11:55am informing me the service man is stuck at another job site and it be early afternoon. At 3:00pm I received a phone call that they were going to have to reschedule. Rescheduled the next morning 9:00am-10:00am and I would be the first customer of the morning guaranteed. At 9:45am received the phone call that again the service technician was stuck at another house and was running late. What happened to the guarantee?? No apologies. I had already taken two mornings off from work and had to try and have someone available to be at the house

I was informed they were unable to get a hold of the original technician but Steve (who was standing right beside her) would be on his way. I was told he would be there in 45minutes. I questioned this since they were in Bridgeville which is an hour and half from my house. Finally at 1:45pm (2 hours later) and 6 hours later then the GUARANTEED TIME, Steve (technician) arrived. Steve was a very polite and talkative technician. Steve started working. It was $93 or free if unable to clog which is what was advertised. I was informed the snaking wasn t working and I was going to have to pay for them to use different equipment to clean the line. I was told that if it didn t work they would deduct the $1900. I was told that in most cases this would fix it, but every house is different.

The next day and $1900.00 later I was told it was not successful that the next step is for them to dig because there was a broken pipe and unable to clear the clog.

I was giving varied quotes due to how I was going to pay but between $6,000 to 8,000. This was to dig a hole 4ft x 4ft x 3ft hole and fix a small section of pipe. This seemed a lot of money. There was no Place where they showed a $1900 deduction. There was maybe we should call your local sewage company and work with them to fix this . I was told to call them on Monday and let them know how I was going to pay and when I wanted them to start.

After a restless night of sleep, I decided to talk to my neighbors about if they had any issues. Both informed me that they have had some local plumbers come in and replace their whole sewage line for $2000-$4000.

So I called for a second opinion and thank goodness I did. The local plumber showed up at the scheduled time (actually he was a few minutes early). I informed that I Had called Gillece and everything that technician Steve has done and the information he told me. When I discussed that the break in the line was 100ft our from my house, local plumber stopped me and told me he would bring in the local sewage company. Five minutes after leaving my house local plumber game me a phone number to call to schedule an appointment with local sewage company. They were there in less than 30 minutes. I found out that the break in the line isn t even on my property. The local sewage company will be fixing the break for FREE. He was surprised to hear the quote from GIllece for just a small section of pipe.

Charging 3 times what it should cost!!!!
I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone unless you want to flush money down to toilet.

I really enjoyed speaking with Zach Wesolowski. We were trying to decide if we should buy a warranty or not and he laid out the information for us to make the best decision. I highly recommend contacting Zachary Wesolowski at Gillece to discusss your plumbing and HVAC needs.

I had my annual furnace check today. Dave (the service person) had a multitude of gadgets (meters, monitors, etc.) that he used to test my furnace. He is the first service person I had that used so many monitors and did so many checks, and at the end I felt my furnace had a truly great check. He also checked how much gas was being emitted to burn and found that the gauge was set too high (waste of energy & $$$) and set it to the proper level (I look forward to saving $$$ on my gas bill). He also checked to ensure there was no leakage out of any of the metal pipe joints to the furnace or break in seals . This is the first time Dave ever came to my home, but when it's time for my air conditioner check (as well as future furnace checks, etc.), I will be requesting that he be my service person. He was a great service person and an all-around nice guy.

If I could give zero stars, I would. My furnace wasn't heating at all, and we called Gillece because we'd heard good things about them. One of their technicians came to my house and charged $95 just to look at the furnace. He then told us it was installed incorrectly, and would have to be taken apart and put back together to the tune of $3,150. Before committing to dropping such a huge chunk of cash, I called a local, private business for a second opinion. He diagnosed and fixed my furnace (incidentally, the furnace was properly assembled and all that needed to be replaced was a pressure switch) in a few hours, and charged me $117 for service and parts. I feel scammed by Gillece, and would recommend against them to anyone I know.

Steven Thompson was extremely professional and competent. He arrived on time, called right before he arrived, and had his covid-19 friendly mask on. We were extremely impressed by his professionalism and attitude. Steven Thompson went above and beyond what we expected to try and help us clear our clogged drain. Unfortunately we were unable to clear the clog but Steven left us with a bunch of different options such as financing. He was a great plumber and I wish more were like him!!

Technician arrived on time and was very professional, went over everything he did for the inspection on my furnace.

Tiffany was a great electrician. She was very clear about assessing our requests, presenting options and pricing, and she did each job quickly and effectively. Gill eve is lucky to have her.

The good part is they did come out the same day to replace the main valve coning into my home that was leaking. The Plumber they sent was great a friendly. Te bad part is $790.00 for 15 minutes of work is outrageous. Definitely feel that I was taken advantage of, other estimates that I checked into were 1/4 -1/2 of their price. If you call Gillece hopefully you'll get dinner and a movie before you get..........

Won't ever be my choice ever again

This is my 2nd time leaving a review for Steven Thompson don t know what s going on with google.Had Steve replace my whole kitchen drain ,went from rusted metal to pvc he did great I even felt Comfortable leaving him in my house while I went and ran to the doctors.He did clean work I would definitely have him back.Thanks gillece

They came out to unclog the main sewer line they were here for 10 minutes and on top of that they broke the secondary sewer cap and did not tell us they broke it and did not unclog the clog and did not use an electric auger all he used was the camera to identify where the clog was I talk to the manager and they are saying that he did not break the sewer cap and would not refund any money beware do not use this company and beware of when they send Scott Christian out to your house he is one who broke it and did not unclog it

Steve Thompson Sr was the one sent to our house to address the sewer problem. He showed up on his day off! And stayed at our house for several hours to get an accurate diagnosis of the problem. Within 24 hours we could at least flush the toilets again. The entire process took a few days. Before the job was inspected by the county, Steve returned to the house to re-camera the lines and show me everything was 100% clear. We had several people here doing the work over a few days. Being self employed and my wife is management, you can see when someone cares about there work. Steve and (Tim ) I didn t catch his last name, are real assets to Gillece! You ll be happy with there work !

Needed a replacement hot water tank. Did some research on the internet and found out the tanks, installed, usually run $600-$700. Called Gillece. They charged me to send someone out to talk about getting one from them.

Rep showed up with a binder that showed their product and services. They wanted well over $2,000. Thanks, but no thanks. Way too expensive.

Wound up calling a local plumbing company and had a new tank installed for about $650.

Horrible customer service. I scheduled an appointment and was given a 4-hour window for the plumbers to show. I took off work and stayed home the entire day. I got a call 30min toward the end of the day saying they weren't going to make it. The receptionist offered some days next week. I asked if she would waive the $55 service fee since I'd have to take off two days of work and she said "Oh, so you basically want this for free is what you're saying?"

Incredibly rude. Failed to deliver service. Does not care about earning customer trust or business.

I had work done several month s ago. A lady from the office called a few days after the service was completed and I expressed a concern I had to her. She told me my concern and contact information would be passed on to the office manger and that the office manger would contact me. To date the office manager has not contacted me. It is my opinion once you pay the bill the commutation and follow through stops.

The technician was very professional and very informative . She answered all my questions and was very pleasant and knowledgeable and on time!

Scott Christian came out and repaired a leaking pipe and fixed our water pressure. SUPER nice guy and completely professional. I would absolutely recommend and use Gillece again and ask for Scott by name!

Asked for a quote on cost to repair or replace circuit breaker for microwave. Before even looking at that, the electrician told me I needed a new water heater and furnace?????? Water heater under 3 years old and furnace never an issue. Then quoted me an outrageous amount that made absolutely no sense - over $10k. Plus tried to pull off a service contract that was $200 if anything should go wrong after their work. R u kidding me. Taking advantage of the public because you think we don t know anything about costs, electric, etc. is a shame and bad for business - go elsewhere

Great service and easy to work with tech. They came through in an emergency that was needed. I was warned about history of this company from a decade ago but it definitely has changed. Very helpful and did everything great! Ask for Hal for electric work!

By far the worse people ever they take full advantage of your situation all we have to condem this and that my best advice call a few other company's before you let them do your work the guy that came to my house name was Chris sattuerfield don't listen to a word he says Talks a good game and sucks you right in I wish we could put negative stars on these people cuas they SUCK

Ron was extremely helpful to us in fixing our air conditioner problem. He explained in detail the problem and then fixed it. He was very professional and respectful of our home. We would recommend Ron to anyone. Thank you again Ron.

No Show

I Called Gillece to repair a leaking hose in a water purification system they installed within the past year. One of the first things the telephone rep asked for was a credit card number to pay for a service call. I mentioned to her that we had just paid $2000 for the installation less than a year ago and I told the Gillece rep we should not be having this problem. After putting me on hold for about a minute she came back on the phone and told me there would be no charge for the service call. The customer service rep mentioned someone from Gillece would call to let us know when the technician was due to arrive. We did receive a call back a few days later mentioning the service technician would arrive in a few hours. The service tech did not show. I waisted an entire day waiting. There was no follow up call or apology on the part of Gillece.
As a result, my wife called another company which came on time and did an excellent repair at a fair price.
