We went here about a year ago. It was absolutely delicious!
Expertly prepared food, good prices, exceptional staff. Great take-out service with Samantha!
Rebecca, very good bartender. We came for a party and wondered what kind of place was this? In the heart of the Rustbelt, the town showed no promise. Once inside, we were surprised to find a cozy , well run bar/restaurant with good food and great service. Now I can say worth the trip.
I have not had a bad experience at Red Lion ever and I have been going here for a long time. We always get a great server and great food with great big helpings. I love coming here and I will continue coming here keep up the good work
Trying out a new place and pleasantly surprised! The service warm and friendly, the food large portions(I brought home dinner for tonight) and very tasty! I do plan to return.
Food was disappointing. Not happy with the service.
The food is good and pretty different from other choices in the area. The price is a little high but it's quality for the price.
Awesome. Friendly... And good food what Moe could you ask for.
This is the second time we ve had a private party here.
The first time we had few wait staff and we kept asking for bread and never got it. Finally one of the party goers got up to get it which was setting on a tray
Water went un filled Very slow or no service. I overheard things being sent back to warm up
Second experience was when they weren t prepared and it was scheduled very early dining experiences. The place was cold. Very cold. I think they didn t warm up the place early enough
We notified staff but nothing changed
The wait staff complained that more people showed up than the 20 expected.
The staff were rushed and I felt bad for them but we asked for refills and napkins and to go boxes multiple times with no response
The soup was so salty it was inedible
Our space to eat was crammed and
We didn t get dirty plates removed
I will say that the one bathroom for each gender is tiny and the door is very hard to open.
The fried chicken nuggets are bland. We didn t like them at all. They were also used in the salads.
I didn t say anything g at the time because they were rushed and the chef have limitations and all with what to cook with but what another disappointment overall.
It s a nice location and attractive
Wide ranging menu, good quality food and friendly service
We stopped here for lunch last month while researching our family tree(the Wylies, Eastons and Hawkins). What a pleasant surprise this little gem was. Though our waitress was on her first week working there, she was quite attentive and knowledgeable! I had the Reuben on Rye and my wife had the grilled chicken salad, both were excellent. As we were leaving I asked the hostess all about the old bank building the restaurant has been in since 1980 and she showed me some pictures old Elizabeth hanging on the wall - one of which was a picture of my family's Wylie Brothers Hardware building, which still sits across the street. Instantly I made friends with long, longtime Elizabeth residents the Rockwells. Thank you Lynn Rockwell McHolme for your hospitality, and an excellent meal!
First time I've ever been here & I've lived In Elizabeth for 20 years! Wow, I was not disappointed that's for sure. It is very nice inside. Very clean. The food was great. We plan on going back very soon.
We forgot about this place. We went there for a retirement seminar a month ago and have been there twice more since. Great food and atmosphere.
I always go here for the seafood don't even think about red lobster
Wonderful food! Great service! Good place to have a wonderful meal! Highly recommend!
Sam is our waitress most of the time food is good and creative. I like that they serve lunch portions into the evening. Sam makes amazing drinks and is very personable.
Best food around! Such a great menu selection and awesome soups including Chef Orrie's famous Creamy Pepperjack Crab soup! There are so many great lunch and dinner specials and full bar! Elizabeth's hidden treasure!
Best restaurant in SW Pa. All original menu that is made to perfection.
Great food. Limited beer list. Definitely recommend if driving through the area.
This gem is a fantastic place to eat. Great tasting food, and even better service. The building is historical and is well decorated. Had the filet oscar, it was amazing. Perfectly cooked. Will definitely be back.
Our favorite restaurant for decades! The food, service and atmosphere is the best!! Love everything about this gem of a restaurant. We always have a delicious meal every time we go. The menu is perfect, so many choices. If you just want soup and salad, an appetizer, sandwich or a meal, so many great choices. They also have great portions, I have lunch for days! Love their murder mystery dinners. So much fun and laughs and a wonderful buffet. Rockwell's Red Lion never disappoints!
I was there for a wedding reception dinner. Food was good and atmosphere was nice
Excellent food...excellent and personalized service!
Great place to eat. Wonderful ambiance. Food is fantastic and the service is the best. We had a perfectly wonderful family dinner there. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Food is great and the waitresses are really nice.. especially Janet. Hubby loves the ruebens and I enjoy the sweet but savory pistachio salmon salad. They also added back the hot roast beef sandwich, which is delicious and a new turkey sandwich with an herbed mayo that is a surprisingly delicious
This is our favorite local restaurant. The food is excellent, the atmosphere delightful and the service first rate.
First time here and wow!! The restaurant had historical look inside. It was really neat looking at all the history. The bread, omg, it's fresh from the oven and so tasty. I could've eaten a second loaf myself. My husband gave me his cole slaw and I'm usually not a big fan. This was the best cole slaw I've ever eaten. It was rich and creamy and sweet and its homemade. The fettuccine alfredo was a huge portion and was delicious. I cannot wait to return and try more. ... and get some more bread
Last nights Williamsburg Dinner event was just AWESOME. What a great night with friends. Chef Orrie and the staff exceeded expectations!
If there are some open tables over the next 2 nights, I would highly recommend!!!
Excellent soups and delicious entrees keep me coming back regularly.
Nice little place that's casual, but can almost feel formal. I went in with my SO a few times before I wrote just because I wanted to actually really know the place. Jumbo crab is amazing and always hot. Steak burgers were as they mentioned. And the mozzarella sticks are huge and hot. Staff really don't miss a beat. They do very well with check ins, even when busy. Oh and you can always see everything is wiped down even more so than normal. Great food. Great staff.
Ate at this restaurant 1 time and it was fantastic! Conversation with our waitress led to an event that they have a couple times a year. She took us down to the area where they have this event and I knew I wanted to come for this! Went for the Williamsburg Candlelight Dinner tonight and It was Fantastic! Thank you so much for the experience and the fabulous meal!
What a nice surprise! We will definitely be back!!! Lynn the owner was so welcoming !
Wonderful place to eat. Food is very good,as well as the service.
We have wanted to try this resturant for years . Finally went on a rainy Friday night. Good cocktail menu. Great cocktail prices. Food reasonably priced except for th entrees. They are worth the money. Both of us had Apricot Chicken and their crab bisque. Wonderful!!
Fantastic service. Knowledgable staff. Got exactly what we expected. All around great experience.
Meal cost twice as much as it should. Very bland. So disappointed!!! Probably won't be back:( The service was very attentive, though.
Nice small intimate restaurant, the food is amazing and the service is excellent
The food and service are always outstanding! Samantha is a fantastic server! Highly recommend! The pepper jack crab soup is a must!
First time at this location, and I had the Asian Duck for dinner. Funny thing there was no breast, this dinner came with two thighs. Ate the meal and wasn't planning a return. My wife and I were talking afterwards, she strongly recommend that I call and let the management know about what happened. I did just that. Just giving feed back on my experience. I was told the duck come in cyropacks and was one piece. I assured her mine was two pieces and had no breast. Giving feedback on a poor dining experience was not regarded as welcoming. I stated I would not be returning and I was not looking for a free meal and felt they should be aware of this issue.
A diamond in the rough! Great food and atmosphere!!
I was there for a financial seminar. And the food was absolutely wonderful. The service is great and I would recommend it 4 a night out as well as if someone has a business and would like to have a business meeting that would be a great place to go because it was very very nice.
Absolutely love Rockwell's Red Lion, from the fish sandwich to the nightly chef inspired creations, Red Lion never disappoints. Of course the pepper jack crab is always perfect. I highly recommend this quaint romantic restaurant for anything from just simple dinner to an anniversary dinner. They are having their annual Valentine's Day dinner for 2021, already have our reservation, book soon, it's worth it !!!
Food was good if not excellent. Our server, Stephanie was great. She handled a table of 15 with ease. All 15 ssid they would return to Red Lion.
This is at least my third time experiencing this location.
Most recently, as of just last evening, I chose this eatery when my parents asked me to choose any dinner location in which I'd like to spend my birthday.
Personally, I abhor the limelight, so we never shared that it was my birthday when we booked our reservation with Rockwell's Red Lion.
Just as in all of my previous experiences, I was extremely impressed with each level of service my parents and I were provided.
The gentleman who booked our reservation was attentive, quick and made booking on a busy, same-day Saturday dinner appear quite easy. The hostess was pleasingly polite - not even so much as a hint of the rote, "corporate" way of some eateries. She was just, refreshingly, polite on her own accord. Our server was so VERY wonderfully enthusiastic with each stage of our meal as well!
Again, per my own wishes, I didn't want anyone at Rockwell's Red Lion to know that yesterday's dinner represented my birthday. However, that never stopped them from still making me feel quite "special" and helping make yesterday one of the finest birthdays I've experienced in some time.
What better compliment could be offered? Rockwell's Red Lion, just in the exemplary service levels they offer each day, didn't even realize how special they made my birthday dinner. That alone should inspire a visit to this wonderfully lovely, local gem that deserves much more widely recognized acclaim.
I'll be back for the turkey dinner on the second Friday of each month. The meal is a bountiful feast!
It's been about a month since my latest visit here since I don't live anywhere near Rockwell's but this place has never disappointed me,
Every time I've ate at Rockwell's I've gotten the Jumbo Lump Crab Meat appetizer ($11.95) and I will continue to do so every time I come here. It comes with garlic butter toast points topped with a bountiful amount of jumbo lump crab meat. I live down near Washington DC and I've been eating Maryland blue crabs my entire life, and while I'm not as snobbish about my crab as some are, Rockwell's has great crab for a place 300 miles from saltwater. I definitely recommend it.
The Creamy Pepperjack Crab Soup is ridiculous, even if you don't get anything else on the menu, you really shouldn't miss out on this, it's creamy and crabby with a bit of a kick. They also sell their soups by the pint to-go. ;)
On my most recent visit for my main course I ordered the Duck Black Forest ($24.95) which is half of a semi boneless duck served crisp, glazed with a raspberry and black cherry sauce. There are full cherries in it, and it's sort of like a pie filling on an entree, though I am not complaining at all because it's soo delicious. I may however be a bit partial because I was craving a cherry pie my entire visit in PA so this satisfied that.
Meanwhile everyone else at my table ordered the Veal Rhode Island ($25.95) which should been indicative of how delicious it is. I managed to steal a few bites off someones plate and I was not disappointed. I don't think there's anyway you can go wrong with the combination of veal, crab, and garlic herb butter.
I've tried their crab meat risotto ($7.95) and its honestly such a fantastic side dish very creamy and delightfully crabby, not to mention a generous portion.
TL;DR: Rockwell's is really great, a bit more pricey than other places in the area, but I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a special night out or a damn good meal.
Always delicious! The shrimp fritters are my favorite
I've been here one time, and I'll be back. The service was great and the food was delicious
Very good food! Stopped for lunch and everything was great!!
This is a comfortable, quaint hometown restaurant. The decor could be updated, but it doesn't bother me. The food is the star - always good. This is a little out of our way, so it's more like a place we would make a special trip to go to. I always lean towards a pasta with seafood of some kind. However, we've had sandwiches, soups, salads, steaks. It's reliable. I would suggest reservations especially for a weekend supper.
I absolutely recommended this beautiful establishment. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with such hospitality. The atmosphere, food and service was impeccable. I myself am in the food industry and was very pleased with my experience. Highly recommended!! Thank you we will be back!
We ve probably ordered take out during quarantine almost weekly and have never been disappointed. There s not many food options in the area that constantly deliver every time and red lion is our go to. We are happy to support a local business during these trying times and they never disappoint!
Red Lion does many things right, but their pastas are overcooked & undersalted. Our table was large, 9 people. I think our waitress did a pretty good job keeping everyone in drinks, bread, getting the food served mostly together. She was pleasant & spoke up.
The soups & zucchini fries were delicious. Entrees were a large fish sandwich, blackberry chicken sandwich, pork medallions, kids shrimp & grilled cheese with fries, apricot chicken - all good. The Teriyaki salmon was slightly overcooked & the sauce was flavorless. The Chicken Picatta & Chicken Parm both lost their breading like sleeves, although the sauces were good. Those last 3 came with pasta & none of us are the pasta.
Desserts were just ok. Triple chocolate mousse (pie), Oreo Explosion, Apple Fritters. The white chocolate portion of the chocolate was rather tasteless, a hint of vanilla. The chocolate cake layer of the Oreo Torte was very thin & rather dry, but it was loaded with Oreo filling frosting & whipped cream. The fritters took a while to come out. There was a large plate of piping hot deep fried sweet dough with chunks of apples. Although good, it could have greatly benefitted from a dipping sauce of some kind.
Overall, I think the supper entrees are overpriced. If you're looking for a hearty, good bowl of soup, a good sandwich or dinner salad, those are good choices reasonably priced.
While i love their food and want to support all local restaurants as much as possible, the prices on Doordash are outrageous. When you re trying to stay afloat during this difficult time charging unreasonable prices just lost you business. I order through doordash at least once a day for my family and/or my employees and have spent thousands this past year on local businesses trying to make it through. I just can t justify your prices.
We had a large group of people. A reservation was made for this group. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly, attentive, and professional. The food was outstanding. This was my first time trying this place and will definitely go back.
You must try the spicy pepper jack crab soup!!! I've never had anything like It! It's an expensive restaurant but food is always great. It's has a romantic atmosphere, great for a date night!
