I bought the ticket that includes the garden's and I paid 25 euros. Likely I found a 50 on the ground in the middle of nothing somewhere in the garden. The palace was amazing. It took some time to visit the whole thing but it was fun.

Get there before 9 am. It's hot and crowded so take water. There are plenty of places to buy food and water. We treated ourselves to cake and coffee in Cafe Angelina. Expensive but excellent food and service. We then ate a roll we had prepared at home while in the grounds. See everything. It's all worth a look. If I went again I would hire one of the little green buggies to see more of the grounds. Fantastic inside and out. Don't miss the musical fountains.

I love it so much I ve come here three times now. On my third visit I got to show my daughter the beauty of the gardens. Top tip though, pre-book a time slot rather than prebooking a day ticket. Time slot gets you in way faster in peak season.

Not worth the wait. Not worth the hype. Too crowded. It's just a big chaos. We had to wait 3 hours to get inside and the interior wasn't as stunning as castles I have been before in Germany. You need extra tickets to get into the garden. REALLY NOT WORTH IT!!!

Beautiful place to visit!

Beautiful place to visit!

Tip: go during the week, less people.

You will need to get 2 tickets: one for the garden and another one for the palace. To buy the garden ticket go at the garden entrance, they do not sale them in the palace. You get discounts if you are a student.

If you plan to visit both the garden and the palace, it will be an entire day experience, so start in the morning and pack sandwiches.

There is also a pond where you can rent a boat :)

You must come to visit...can not express how big and beautiful it is. Be remind that it is so crowded-so so long line, as early as posible if you are single traveler...Group has no problem

I was pretty shocked to find out that the capital investment required to build this place effectively impoverished the nation.

Versailles is a must see if you've never been. The unbelievable display of wealth will sort of melt your brain after a while.

Get here as close to the doors opening in the morning to "beat the crowds".

The palace is wonderful and one of the best to see , all type of arts ( paintings, sculpture, architecture, history, gardening,etc...)
When you are in Versailles you should free your day to enjoy one of the best gardens in the world.

The only problem you face is that most of the staff are rude and speeks French only, they are not well trained how to guide and respect tourist...

Massive queue but by going to the ticket office in a building to the left we were able to buy a timed ticket. It cost the same and allowed us to enter only 5 minutes later - to the obvious annoyance of those who had queued for a good hour in the hot sun. Some shade for those queueing would be a good idea.
Versailles is fabulous but you could imagine why the peasants revolted. Clearly expense not spared. A single day is not enough to see everything, including the gardens, so either plan for 2 days or research beforehand and target what you want to see.
Catering is very expensive inside - a small macaroon was more than 2 Euros; so be warned.

Museum is great. It has a huge collection of historic items and paintings. The garden is huge and well maintained. One drawback is the building has no AC and it was really really hot and humid.

We loved the palace and the surrounding gardens. The palace was nice to walk through, especially the hall of mirrors. However, our favorite part of the experience was walking through the gardens. The garden area is huge. We loved walking through all the corridors and seeing all the fountains. There are places to eat and grab a drink scattered around the gardens. Would definitely recommend spending more time out in the gardens than walking through the palace.

One of the most beautiful historical places in France. Make sure to buy your tickets online to avoid the crowd. I never had to wait in line very long personally. I also recommend packing a picnic and rating near the canal in the grass. You can leave your bag at the coat check of the castle.

Very special place.

I liked this place, i felt history here

Limited time entry ticket is must unless you want to spend more time lining up for the ticket than real time in the palace. Queen's chamber was under construction for renovation so wasn't available. Check before your visit.

Well, not much to say about Versailles that probably has not been written already. Grand and luxurious architecture, adorned with crystals an work of arts inside, covered with shiny, glittering gold up to the very top of the roof on the outside. Amazing landscaping work with stunning water features. An incredible array of gardens of all sorts and shapes. Fountains of all sizes filled with beatiful statues.
A really pleasant surprise are the restaurants inside. Good selection of excellent wines with the choice of top quality gourmet food. This is something you don't find even in the best British Stately homes. Special mention to Angelina, top notch restaurant with amazing wine and superb food quality.

Beautiful palace and gorgeous (very large) gardens. The only downside to this is the organisation is lacking. Queues for the toilets, queues for food... Just poor amenities and too many people at same time.

Lovely artwork. I was wowed by each room which is just what I expected of Versailles. Entrance is 18 for people over 26 years old, and free for those under. I'd say it's not worth it if you're not really interested in art or history. The restaurants around the place are pretty expensive.

The palace is very beautiful.

The palace is very beautiful.
Not just the walls, but even the roofs are decorated with beautiful paintings. Multi lingual audio devices provide good insights into the history of the palace.
The palace garden is spread over a very large area and is a great place to spend a sunny day.

Gorgeous grounds and beautiful palace. However, there are many issues with the staff or overall management. Here's some tips to help you through the palace.

First problem was with the line to get in. We had heard about the line from prior reviews, so we bought our tickets ahead of time. Since we figured the wait was to buy the tickets we didn't do the reserved time tickets(meaning you have to be there within 30min of your ticket entry), which would have allowed us to bypass a line to get into the palace. However, when we got there, the line was just to get in the place. It would have taken about 2 hours to get in. We decided to buy reserved time tickets while we were in line, which meant we skipped the entire line. TIP: buy reserved timed tickets. If you know the time you're going to get there, buy them the day before. the day you get there to maximize your time

Second issue is with the audio guide. This is a VERY small issue, but it's about not including a headset with the guide. This meant you held up the guide to your ear throughout the palace. Our arms were sore by the end. TIP: bring headphones for the audio guides.

Third, do not eat at the Angelina restaurant. We were hungry, so we waited for a table at the Angelina in the palace. That was about 20min of waiting. Once seated, they took our order fairly quickly, but then forgot about us. No food, and our water had long run out. About 30min later, a waitress said our food would take another 10 minutes. It wasn't a complicated order, a clung sandwich and a Caesar salad. Even before the waitress told us about the delay, we thought about leaving. Once she told us, we just walked out. TIP: don't eat at the Angelina restaurant, and instead try to make due with the snack stands they have. Or, if you get out to the the Flottille restaurant out by the canal. It is much cheaper and a better selection of food.

Some of the most spectacular art ive ever seen. The whole palace is a masterpiece. Make sure you bring your walking shoes to get down into the gardens. A nice lap around canals at sunset is the perfect romantic afternoon

What an amazing p(a)lace! A must see when visiting Paris; just 30 minutes on RER C from the city then a 5 minute walk. Book your tickets in advance and arrive early to beat the crowds (well some of them at least). The guided tour of the King's private chambers is well worth the 7. It's also worth queueing for the audio guide. The onsite Cafe (Angelina) offers good food that's perhaps not as expensive as it could be. Unlike the adjoining restaurant which serves the same stuff at greater cost.

The main thing that makes Versailles Versailles is...

The main thing that makes Versailles Versailles is how big it is. The other thing is how expensive it all was to build and occupy. The unique thing is that it's all still here more than 400 years since it was first designed and occupied, and people who pay an entrance fee can walk in more places in one day than any of the original occupants, royalty or not, ever could. Of course, no one waits on us hand and foot. Instead we wait when it's crowded, and mainly walk, inside or out. Also the guards these days have bigger guns than Louis XIV could possibly have imagined, not to mention bulletproof vests, but this really does not interfere with the experience. Also, handheld audio narrators are free inside the palace tours, and it's weird to see attentive tourists from many countries and ethnicities walking around with "communicators," albeit one way devices. The asians have figured out you can hang it from your neck and plug in your headphones, but I didn't see any bluetooth devices.
I liked the gardens more than the rooms, but the best gardens are only available with a paid admission. There are much larger forests outside the palace gardens, but not so developed. The water show was cool, but a long walk from the gates. The gardens were mainly designed as outdoor venues for entertainment, and so most of the trees are behind lattice work--an interesting arrangement. Music plays in a number of the different spots.

The first time I heard about Versailles was in my history lesson "Treaty of Versailles". Visiting Versailles was an eye opener. It's the surroundings which amused me more than palaces. The splurge of wealth all around. It's a must visit to realize what filthy rich could actually mean.

Please, please buy online "timed" entry ticket for the palace otherwise you would have to wait in literally a km long queue. There is a separate entry for timed ticket. I reached there 10 mins before scheduled time and was given direct entry.

There is a lot of walking in the palace so be ready for that. Although there are lot of benches to sit inside the palace. I went in May end so I was told about lots of crowd but didn't find any more that we find usually at tourist places.

Don't forget to visit Marie Antoinette estate which I found more pleasant to visit.

The palace was great but was the 30 min wait to live up for the ticket.. and then the 2hr wait till get through security that dampened the whole day... there was only 1security machine going when there was 3. The organization lacked and we weren't the only ones disappointed

Unpleasant experience

Unpleasant experience
Despite buying the tickets in advance we had to wait for 3 hours. Everywhere, there were queues, toilets, restaurant...The queues are haphazard
When you arrive at Versailles, there is very little information on where to go, which queue to join, hardly any staff to give you advice. They don't do anything to make the wait pleasant. They could learn a thing or two from Le Grand Palais, they even had a musician there to entertain us.
Eventually at 3pm we got in. It was so crowded. We felt like cattle, really not like we were in a palace. And at 5pm, they inform you in every language possible it is time to leave. It is the only time, you get any kind of information.
Why do they let so many people in at the same time?
It is the last time I go to visit Versailles. This is not worth the money nor the time.
There are so many places to visit in Paris where you will enjoy the experience and feel exhilarated. Versailles is not one of them.

Oh just so so busy in the summer. Bought a timed entry ticket which significantly reduced the queuing time, but looking round the palace itself was not enjoyable and actually quite uncomfortable on a hot day when you are being herded round with so many other people. The gardens were fabulous.

This is the most prestigious part and intresting part of france pre-republic. Its just awesome listenning to the explanation learning the history looking at the extravaganza refined in 17th century. Many parts have been refurbished or bought back after vandalism and looting happened during revolution. Its a must see dont miss it, buy priority pass do not be cheap except id ur time is not worth few euros. The full sight pass is 27euros. Or else u will have to wait in lengthy long long lines. Enjoy.

I visited with my partner and two friends of ours. It was our first trip to Paris and made sure that we got the most out of our trip (June 2018). Palace of Versailles was absolutely beautiful. Expect to do alot of walking, so make sure you have comfy shoes on, and plenty of time to see everything, as the campus is huge. We spent about 5 hours here and covered most ground. Would definately recommend, just take a look at my photos!

It's not possible to understand the scale of things here without a visit, and I'm glad I came. I would not recommend visiting on a rainy day. The lines move slow, and there is no covered area to wait.

The sheer scale of the palace at Versailles is hard to fathom. Even after being there and walking around for several hours, it feels like you just scratched the surface. One could easily spend days on end finding various little nooks and grottos in the gardens. It's a quick and direct train ride out of Paris, so there is no excuse to not visit Versailles if you are in the Paris metro area.

Absolutely oozing with history from many monarchs. Plan to spend an entire day here if you want to see the interior and the grounds, as both are impossible to do if you only have a few hours. The grounds are massive and I suggest the horse drawn carriage to ease your tour of the sheer expanse of the neatly manicured grounds.

Until you see it, one has no idea how royalty lived.

Unless you have a lot of time in Paris, boring waste of time is how I feel. Every tourist in town is there and everything your going to see is blown away I'm the museum's of Paris, including the architecture. Been there never will do that, if you come to Paris for the first time to see Paris do just that....see Paris not that you will be able to take it all in.

Over two hours of a very painful waiting line out ...

Over two hours of a very painful waiting line out in the snow were horrible and not worth the visit in the palace. There was no warm place to relax and get dried after hours of standing outside, except the restaurant and a coffee shop which were over loaded and also very expensive. This is not a good time to visit- the gardens are not tempting at this weather and are under renovations. The indoor palace is beautiful and impressive of course, but the experience is completely ruined by the coldness (in order to proceed between parts of the palace you must go outside); the massive amounts of groups and individual tourists packing every part of the exhibition make the tour very claustrophobic; the audio guide didn't work on all the numbers under 200; and where it didn't work we couldn't use the written explanations that were only in French. Overall this wasn't even worth the long train ride from Paris, not too mention the ticket price. Maybe in season.

There was a significant queue when we visited, but the weather was fine and the queue was in a spectacular courtyard. The buildings and the grounds are everything that they promise to be. Bring some comfortable shoes; the gardens are vast. Some of the areas are a little crowded. We tried to time our walk so that we were either in front of or behind a large tour group - this helped.

What an architectural marvel! The palace is well maintained and has such a jaw dropping beauty to it, especially the paintings indoors which just scream luxury and grandeur. The lines are super long to get inside. A must visit if you are visiting Paris. It's just a short train journey away fro Paris.

The gardens were so beautiful. Some fountains have a water show they perform regularly throughout the day. Music can be heard throughout the gardens. There's a lake where you can get a boat. Make sure to get a map because a lot points in the garden don't have a main directory map. Only the main garden highlights do.

Very disappointed with the whole experience, we paid first to go in the gardens for a musical water experience, not one fountain was actually on just some classical music coming out of a speaker ....
I last visited over 40 years ago and still have vivid memories of the palace, which have now been crushed. On entering after queuing for what felt like an eternity . Only to be made to put my lunch in the bin before entry , it was like a cattle market ,hot stuffy with no air flow unable to see anything . The only rooms that were not crammed, actually had no information about them on the tour headphones .
Decided to purchase some food in house to replace the discarded lunch to find a price of 16 euros for a piece of quiche in the restaurant . In the 2nd of 3 food places in the grounds ,slightly cheaper but nothing really of good enough value to feed hungry children . Finally in the last we managed to get 3 filled rolls for under 30 euro ....on seeing at the cashiers desk they did soup only to be told it was finished , after paying for the rolls. soup was brought out so I purchased 1 bowl of steaming hot onion soup which was the highpoint of the day a 5 euro bowl of delicious soup the only thing of value to be found .

Line was so very long with limited direction as to which line to get into. A three hour wait could have been shortened with better organization and for those with small children it was borderline dangerous. Inside the palace the staff was so very careless about their duty. Some of them had completely turned their backs to the rooms they were watching over. The audio tour was informative and helpful but over crowding made it impossible to enjoy the tour and see much of the rooms. The beauty of the palace itself was obscured by a thick layer of dust. Some of the most beautiful rooms were made dull. The gardens were spectacular. Well kept and clearly the only part of the palace grounds that receive attention. Overall this was a disappointing view into what is such a significant and unique part if history.

Everything is great and it's definitely a must-see. The little Trianon was by far the best bit. However, there are huge badly-managed lines but not for tickets...they are there thanks to the security check-point. There are just two!!

what a beautiful place to spend an afternoon. Even though it was wintertime in the gardens weren't in Bloom you could still see beauty everywhere by touring the palace. So many different rooms and each one has a special theme and beauty to it the ceilings were also painted with lovely scenes
