The first time I heard about Versailles was in my history lesson "Treaty of Versailles". Visiting Versailles was an eye opener. It's the surroundings which amused me more than palaces. The splurge of wealth all around. It's a must visit to realize what filthy rich could actually mean.



Please, please buy online "timed" entry ticket for the palace otherwise you would have to wait in literally a km long queue. There is a separate entry for timed ticket. I reached there 10 mins before scheduled time and was given direct entry.

There is a lot of walking in the palace so be ready for that. Although there are lot of benches to sit inside the palace. I went in May end so I was told about lots of crowd but didn't find any more that we find usually at tourist places.

Don't forget to visit Marie Antoinette estate which I found more pleasant to visit.
