A place you must visit at leadt once in your life. TBH the gardens are the best part of the venue. Also the Queen's Farm is a gem; really really photogenic. Beware the estate is M A S S I V E - consider riding on the little hop on/hop off train at least one way, your body will thank you.

A Glimpse into the Glamorous Life of the Past'

A Glimpse into the Glamorous Life of the Past'

Personally, I was absolutely delighted to make this my must-visit on my very first visit to Paris. You should be prepared to spend at least half a day here for what this place has to offer - the very famous Hall of Mirror, Art pieces, the Trianons, Chapel and the beautiful gardenscapes.

Tips:

Choice of the Day to visit: Definitely try to go during weekdays and as early as possible. As mentioned, the sheer size of this vicinity will take you quite a while to explore. If you are in there to take photos or to just enjoy a quieter environment, you want to try to ease through some of the locations by being early before the bulk of the visitors start coming in.

Gears: Wear shoes that you would be comfortable to walk for distances. The sheer size of the vicinity will require quite a bit of exploration. While there are golf carts that you can rent at a cost, the numbers are quite limited and you are probably better walking than waiting. In addition, you definitely want to go light - as large bags/backpacks/suitcases etc are not allowed.

Overall, this is a must visit, especially if you are spending multiple days in Paris.

My Mom and I caught the train from Paris to Versailles on a Sunday morning to visit the palace. Train ride was about an hour with a 5 min walk to the entrance.. not bad! We went in the off season and the line was still about an hour long.. make sure you get tickets BEFORE you get in line!

The palace is stunning! Grab an audio box for information on each of the rooms, there's so much to see and lots of people so reading the blurbs might get tiresome. Mom and I were there 3 hours and only made it through half the grounds!

The restaurants are pretty expensive, so eat off grounds.. definitely an all day adventure!

One of amazing palace in France. If you are under 26 y.o and student in Europe you can enter the place for free. There is massive garden sorrunding the palace and ticket for garden is separated With ticket to enter the palace. But we can buy it in the same time. From Montparnasse gare (France) you can take train to Versailles direction, only take around 15 minutes. To come to Versailles palace from gare, it can afford by walk. Along street We can enjoy appealing view of the city.

I was ten days in Paris, and I saw so many places in Paris, all of the most popular, but this is my favorite. I like it very, very much. I was fascinated with this castle and beautiful gardens. I am in love with Paris too and when someone ask me what to visit in Paris, my first recommendation is this place. Castle is not so much big and you can see all the rooms in peace and love without hurrying. The most famous room is Hall of the mirrors. The castle has historical influence too. But when I went to the gardens, I thoght I am in paradise. I could not believe that something like this exsits. There are not to busy like the all the sights in Paris. The garden is so big, so harmfull, so impressive, so outstanding, simply wonderful. All these trees, flowers, meadows, and for sure fountains. This is something I can not explain. Everybody who came in Paris must to see this place. With love and greetings from Serbia.

A must when in Paris!

A must when in Paris!
Unfortunately there are too many visitors inside.
In the garden there's more than enough space for all the visitors.

We booked skip the line tickets and it was well worth it! The line outside the Versailles must have consisded of a couple of thousands people.

Maybe we caught the staff on a bad day. Other than the 2 wonderful ladies at the Information Desk, seemingly every other staff member was staring at their phones, or just ignoring their duties. Queue for entry was mass confusion. We had timed-entry tickets and at first there was only one line for Gate A. Then after an hour in queue, there are 2 lines at Gate A, with no wait for timed-entry tickets... Frustrating. Ate at Cafe Angelina. 10E for a coffee and bread roll... no plate to eat the roll on. Signs for WC just stop half way, leaving you at a loss. Hand dryer in bathroom broken, but they left a soaking wet roll of paper towels. The palace, the gardens, and the artifacts are wonderful, but I think a lot of folks could make a better use of a day's vacation in Paris. Just watch a nice documentary on the History Channel.
