First, it is important to note that we have done extensive research before ever contacting the Dealership, and knew exactly what we were looking for.
While searching inventory, we found the Audi A6 TDI that we eventually ended up buying advertised on the Dealer website. When I arrived at the Dealership, the Salesman was unable to locate the vehicle, and after an exhaustive search, he reported that the Service Manager was driving the car and he was not at work that day so the car was not available to look at. I informed the Salesman that I was interested in that specific car and would like to look at a similar car to verify my interest and would return to look at the specific car when it was available. After inspecting a similar car and discussing it with my Wife, we decided we wanted the vehicle, so I called the Salesman on the phone and placed a deposit on the vehicle. I informed the Salesman that we would take the vehicle barring any unforeseen circumstances and to notify me when the car had been through scheduled service, detailing, and was available tor pickup.
The Salesman called me on Thursday and informed me that the car needed a part that would be installed and the vehicle would be detailed and available for pickup on Saturday. We made an appointment to sign the paperwork to complete the purchase on Saturday at 2:30 PM.
I called the Salesman on Saturday at 1:00 to verify that the vehicle was in fact ready to go and he responded that the car was in for detailing and would be ready when we got there at 2:30. We arrived at the dealership at 2:30 and were invited to have a seat in the lounge and have coffee because the car was just being finished up. At 3:15 we were advised that they were bringing the car around and we could go outside to inspect it. When we got to the car, the outside was dirty, there were someone's personal belongings on the front passenger seat, coffee spilled throughout the vehicle, and the floor mats etc. were missing. We also noted when we turned the car on that the service engine light was on and there was over 750 miles more on the car than were advertised.
Despite this major set back, We decided that we still wanted the vehicle.
We renegotiated the purchase price for the vehicle based on the condition and mileage, a loaner vehicle to drive until the new car was ready and signed for the vehicle. Again we informed the Salesman to notify us when the vehicle was available for pick up and were on our way.
I received a status update from the Salesman to Monday, and another call on Tuesday informing me that the vehicle was all fixed, detailed and available for pick up.
This time, when I arrived at the dealership, the service engine light was out and the car was in fact detailed and in satisfactory condition. The salesman reported that the Sales Manager was holding one set of keys in his locked desk drawer and they would have to be mailed to us. Additionally, the license plates had not been removed from our Trade as they were promised and I was required to follow the Salesman to a nearby holding lot to retrieve the license plates to transfer to the new car.
While we understand that the Dealership in undergoing major construction and is not at their best, We are overall disappointed with the purchase experience at Cherry Hill Audi. Twice we went to the Dealership to inspect the vehicle and it was either not available to look at or was in disrepair and not in condition to be sold. We wasted two trips to the Dealership, and several hours of our time because the vehicle was not in the location or condition that it was reported. We were extremely patient with the Salesman and Finance Manager and were promised compensation in the form of "Audi goodies" when we took delivery for our inconvenience. Not only were we disappointed that there were no "goodies" in the vehicle at delivery, We still don't even have the keys for the vehicle.
As you can see from this account, the overall theme for this experience has been "Promises not kept"
