Carpenters handled the claim for insurance for my two children after they were involved in a car crash. My claim was handled by Ryan McIntyre and I do not have a bad word to say of him, I was kept informed every step of the way, he promptly replied to my emails and was extremely polite and efficient, his dedication and customer service was second to none. My claim was dealt with quickly and the initial stress of having to deal with the insurers was unfounded. I would definitely use this company again and would be looking for Ryan McIntyre to be my advisor.

So far so bad, I've gone for my medical assessment, it came back and the doctor made mistakes on the report. I contacted carpenter's and said I'm not signing it as there were mistakes. They said they will sort it. Since then I have phoned several times which I could not get through or the case handler was not available. I have also sent several e-mails and had no response. Very poor customer service in my view.

Ignore emails most of the time .. hardly do any work that I have seen in near 3 years since they handled the claim . I will of course make a formal complaint against Carpenters in writing tomorrow.

This is a terrible firm of solicitors I would not recommend them to anyone.
We were assigned them by Tesco Legal Guard and I must say i would not advise anyone to pay for extra cover as I think in time we will see that this type of cover is unnecessary and just like the PPI scandal it will be found to have been miss sold
So to sumize do not pay for extra legal cover as it never pays anyone anything.

Do not use this company. Lying comes easy to the employees of carpenters. Even the manager lied to me on a call. As soon as they got 25% of my compensation money, i didnt matter anymore. I still had to retrieve my loss of earnings which was substantial. But they do not get any of my loss of earnings so i was cast aside. In court they got my job title completely wrong. They did not disclose all the important information relevant to my case, and so they lost all my loss of earnings. The post they will put asking to contact them, apologising for thier unsatisfactory handling of my case is purely to deflect how bad a service they provide. I did complain and was spoke to like a piece of dirt. You have been warned. Steer clear.

Its a shame I have to add one star. No star would be more appropriate. I have a case running for my daughter. Its a simple case and claim. A straightforward case, as my daughters is, should take no more than 4-9 months from start to finish according to other solicitors. Over a year and I'm not even at an offer stage. I seem to have a different claim handler every month. Hardly ever respond to emails or answer questions. Never answer the phone. I'm awaiting a response to a formal complaint procedure because I have had enough. When this gets ignored as I'm sure it will do, then I will then refer the whole case to the legal ombudsman. I advise others to do the same. If your insurance company hand you over to these people then do yourself a favour and opt NOT TO USE THEM and choose your own legal representatives. It will be quicker and a lot less stressful. I don't believe any of the 5 star ratings are actually by genuine customers. Just an attempt to by Carpenters staff to try and maintain any type of rating above zero. Carpenters please don't respond with we are deeply concerned by your comments. You clearly are not which is why the poor feedback continues. Maybe I should request to all other people posting we should get together and expose them to BBC Watchdog.

Your speaking to an Accountant and I do understand Cheque and BACS.

So you bank the cheque to day it takes 3 working days to clear Today, Friday and Monday its is ready to use.

BACS takes 3 working days so at the latest should Clear my account on Wednesday. You submit it to BACS on the first day ( Monday) BACS process it day 2 (Tuesday) it clears the Payee acount day 3 (Wednesday)

So please explain your 2 day difference, and now we have faster payments you should be able to pay me on Monday.

To days modern banking system has something called faster payments, something Carpenters should consider all the other big companies have it !

I would like to contact the TPI and confirm the payment has been made by cheque so please provide me with there details.

The whole experience of dealing with Carpenters is the worst I have ever come across.

I look forward to your response and want to inform you that I will be posting this across the internet, and taking the matter further as complaining to your company direct has no effect. I feel that John Carpenter needs to step up and respond as requested.

As your payment came to ourselves as a cheque we have paid it into our account and have to wait 3 working days for the cheque to clear. When the cheque has cleared we send all of our BACs payment as a 3 working day BACs, which will take a further 3 working days for the funds to hit your account.

Thank you for your email. It can take up to 21 days after your claim has settled to received payment from the third party. I have a schedule in my name on the 10th of this month to chase the third party insurer if your payment has not been received. If your payment has not been received by the 10th of this month I will put the third party on a 7 day warning which will gove them until 17th September to send your payment. If they fail to send the payment by this time your file will be passed to our issuing team to see what legal action they can take to recover your payment.

I will keep you updated when your payment is received.

I have asked Luke to provide me with information and to date this has not been forth coming. I fail to understand why added to the fact that his manager did not contact me as agreed.

how they ever got 5 stars is beyond me. Such poor service, so slow to react and liberal with the response. Would not use them again but would like to see their professional body sit up and take note then react accordingly.

Spoke to a manager who was going to call back the next day, and you guessed it she did not.

Worst people ever to handle a Personal Injury claim. I'm so disappointed. Niamh Sanders is a disgraceful handler. Ive had to move my claim over to Aston Gowman Solicitors who have been brilliant by the way.

We used Carpenters after a minor RTA for 3 people one of the claim are done and dusted we still have 2 ongoing claims. The staff were friendly polite and explained everything in as much depth as possible. Our claim was dealt with in a timely manner and we were kept up to date all the way through. We have no complaints and would highly recommend this company. I would use again if needed.

I was referred to Carpenters and in particular to David Walmsley, following an incident involving myself, on my bicycle and a third party uninsured driver, which resulted in me sustaining broken bones in my neck and back, requiring inpatient care for a week. I cannot thank David enough for the professional and knowledgeable manner with which he has handled my case and brought it to a very successful conclusion on my behalf. Moreover, David has provided his service attentively and sensitively, given I was diagnosed with a serious illness part way through the process - thank you David.

Jan 2017 update!!!..well my case is still active almost 2year later and Carpenters are a bunch on con artist. I e-mail my case handler for her never to reply no real professionalism here. Gave me an offer for settlement, I accepted and and it still not settlement. If I could give them - stars I would. Please guys do not let these guys take on your case. You will be left in the dark.

Hey guys am Dave and Dj and producer.
So the accident happen Feb 2015, when a women crash into me then drove off, she disputed the claim saying she wasn't at fault despite it being on cctv. I was paid out for my car at Xmas 2015. Still waiting for my personal injury claim. My case handler Niamh is a very polite, but is really slow when responding to my emails. Never calls when arranged, never provides me updates. Everytime call for an update she would say "I have a reminder to contact you" but never does. I dont know if my case is at trail or settled. I feel the service here is poor and they dont care about clients, they seem to prioritise cases based on how much the company going to make. I understand the firm will be overwhelmed with cases but surely they have duty to respond to clients emails and calls. Avoid at all cost!!!

Accident on 27 November 2015. Initially received papers regarding my accident and sent them back. Had medical referral and the 5 or 6 Physio sessions, which was handled very well by insurance company in liaison with Carpenters.

Was sent a raft of letters dated a few days of each other which requested a return within a week of the date of the first letter (they all arrived in the same envelope), the papers being received the day they were due back (admittedly a pre-paid envelope was provided but thus was 2nd Class).

Since then My medical evidence has been prepared (and approved by me) and sent to the other driver's Insurers who still claim they don't cover him (despite MIB confirming otherwise).

7 months later and still nothing - Case Handler Emily is polite but there seems to be a "factory" quality to this which as a Solicitor myself I find impersonal as everything relies on "the system" rather than a physical file.

I may upgrade the rating if my payment comes in before November 2016

I was involved in a non fault accident in 2016, the third party insurers did not accept liabilities to start with. After a lengthy legal process and numerous change of case handlers my file was passed to Naaiem Ishaq, whom I found very pleasant, articulate and above all she had always kept me informed of the progress of my claim.
Due to the third party insurers position, Naaiem advice was court proceedings must be served, in order to get a satisfactory outcome. I did accept her recommendation and just before a final hearing at court, a settlement offer was received from the Defendant.
I had no issues getting hold of my case handler, Naaiem has been fantastic through out and I'm grateful for all the work she has done on my behalf.

Absolutely Shocking company to begin with everyone in the company is rude from people answering the phones to the actually lawyers dealing with the claim, been well over 6 months and the most thats actually happened is receiving a doctors report and nothing has progressed from there it gets passed on to person to person with no end result and no clear direction where the claim is heading, still on going claim and i would highly recommend avoiding this group, bunch of joker lawyers.

Edit 28/06/2016: After making a official complaint i finally gained a response and only today was given a call by my new case handler who was actually really nice and seemed very help full and finally read about the case and gave me clear instructions of what is going on, once this situation is dealt with properly i will come back to give a final outcome and possibly increase the star ratings.

Finally my claim came through after around 3 years of deliberation still wouldn t recommended anyone to use this firm stay away

Accepted shared liability despite my instructions to contest the claim. A lorry hit my car on a roundabout and drove off. The driver did not know which road the incident took place on. I had a witness. The other party did not even provide an account of the events. I had to supply an account 3 times.

Awful awful company to deal with. Would not recommend if they paid me. I had to do all the chase work. They sent info to wrong offices for medical report. You can't speak to anyone when you call. It's been 11 month since my car accident and its still on going and It was a small accident. I sent them all the relevant information they requested about pay and overtime etc. Only to be asked for it 8 month later because the "solicitor" who was dealing with them went on mat leave. I honestly don't think the people you deal with are real solicitors. Just office staff following instructions. If you are passed to this company from Hastings direct. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

Well to start of with i was a passenger in a car accident back in september 2015, their response time for my medical was fairly quick i was reviewed withing 2 months, however i waited the best part of 6 months for my medical report to come back. During this time i was constantly ringing the office for an update on my report and all they could tell me was they were waiting to get it back from the doctor. I finally recieved my ammended report back on the 19th of July 2016. Still now a year later i am having to ring the office for an update on my claim and they still are unable to give me any further information. I feel carpenters as a whole is highly unproffesional buisness and really needs to improve on their customer service.

After being knocked off my motorcycle on the 19/09/19 by an elderly man my insurance company suggested I used Carpenters solicitors for my legal representation.
The solicitor who took on my case was David Walmsley.
I found David to be a great help for me, highly professional, efficient and at the same time friendly and personable. The claim took 6 months to be settled due to my serious injuries but that was much quicker than I first thought it might be.

I only wish it was possible to give a 0 star review of this company, because I would.
After being rear-ended over 13 months ago, Hastings Direct instructed Carpenters to help with my claim.

Over the course of the last 13 months, I have been passed from pillar to post. No one knows who my case handler is. Today, after complaining about the service (or lack of) Carpenters had provided, my insurance company called them. During this phone call, they were told 3 different names of people that were believed to be my case handler. Is it Lauren? Is it Danielle? Or, is it Andrew? WHO KNOWS!

During these 13 months I have had minimal contact from Carpenters. The case ended up going to court mid-March this year (a year after the car accident) and obviously, as this was a claim where someone rear-ended me, the court ruled in my favour. I was told of this, and that payment was due within 21 days. The beginning of April. Please bare in mind here, I have no idea what happened at court because I was told not to attend. So, you can imagine my surprise when some of the money I had claimed (taxi to A&E, that sort of thing) was not awarded at court. I thought oh well, at least this year-long-saga is over and i'm finally going to get most of the money I spent fixing what this accident caused! Ha. I was so wrong.

April came and went. No word from Carpenters. I tried emails, phone calls, nothing worked. I understand, of course, we are in the midst of a global pandemic, but everyone else (including myself) is still trying to do their job.

We are now in mid-May. Still no idea where my money is. Still can't figure out who my case-handler is, let alone get in touch with someone! The best i can do i get through centrally, to be told nothing useful.

So the moral of the story is DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If your insurance directs you to them - do yourself a favour and request someone else.

Overall, a quality service I thought. The claim was set up within 24 hours and was completed within 3 months.
Only complaint was, we were left in the dark a little bit and would have preferred Layman's Terms for each stage of the process.
But thank you for helping me nonetheless.

If I could give this company negative stars then I would. I was in a car crash nearly 3 years ago which was caused by some irresponsible boy racer, who fled the scene, it was so severe that he was put in prison for the offence. This has left me with both psychological and skeletal injuries. I have been told to sign a form saying I am fully recovered which I am not, I took it to my GP who told me not to sign it because it is completely wrong. Carpenters told me I could have got the injury from sneezing too hard, what a joke! I have been advised to report them to the legal ombudsman and not to sign anything to say I m back to normal. I went to 18 weeks of therapy and was told to go back to doctors and get anti anxiety medication and they would detail in their report that I was not back to normal . I was told by my case handler they didn t even read the report, they didn t have it and they weren t going to get it because it doesn t matter what it says. Also trying to ring them is a joke, they do not give a damn about their clients, they purposely send emails at 4.55pm on a Friday so you can t get in touch with them, I would advise anyone thinking of using this incompetent, useless joke of company, they would be better just getting any money they may have, and any sanity they have left and throw it in a fire, because even though I couldn t keep working as a teacher that doesn t matter because as I said,they do not give a damn about any one of us, as long as they get payed. I honestly hope none of their loved ones are ever in a crash and need to use them. Oh and thanks carpenters, firstly told me to buy a new laptop because mine was smashed and car seats for my two young children and now they are telling me I should have had it fixed 2.5 years ago so I could look into doing that again. Completely ridiculous!!!

I wish I had read the reviews before selecting but my insurance company assured me, they where good. Close to a year nearly and they still haven t received my medical report from my doctor even though it was sent signed and tracked. Then they can never get through to the doctor clinic when I call them, I always get though straight away. If they are busy call back in 10 and someone will pick up. Staff clearly don t care, everyone is always so busy but with what?

Never felt like I have been looked after, and then when my claim finally gets settled they will want to take a cut! No way are they worth there percentage. Just not the best. My case took well over a year only, then right at the end before my case going to court my handler for some reason doesn't have my statement which I had to all over again. You get told different information by their employees, 1 told me 3 weeks for a pay out and the other told me 6 weeks? Seems like they need major improvements and I wouldn't reccomend this company to any one I know

This is the worst experience ive ever had with a professional company. They ignore emails, ignore requests and had my medical report sitting on there desk stagnant gathering dust which has delayed my claim and im now approaching 12months with no settlement reached yet. Disgustingly bad "law" firm

Worst experience from start to finish! Unfortunately I had no choice in my solicitors, 4 years to settle, 3 solicitors later, not one informed me they were leaving! Another took over & lost all my paperwork, causing my case to suffer. I was finally told that the other parties solicitors were far more experienced than mine & I should accept the offer or face losing & added court fees, when my case was 100% win!
Please avoid, they have changed there name to try to rebuild reviews! They should not be serving the public!

Hopefully this might prompt a response from 'the powers that be'. I have tried getting a call back from my alleged 'claims handler' for almost 5 weeks now...still no joy. In 3 months I have received 1 email from him asking for more details, I replied straight away....unfortunately he hasn't. In total, I have 2 cases with you ( first was transferred from another company...not by choice), both are non fault RTA, both cases the other side has admitted fault...still no progress. I'm at the end of my tether now, I'll be ringing my insurance company tomorrow telling them the service I have received.

UPDATE: Now the claims have reached 14 months and 10 months respectively.....still non the wiser as to what is happening. Wish I could leave a lower then 1 star review but I can't. Maybe my solicitor will get in touch when he's back in the office ( he seems to have been out of it for over a month now). We are still due a few hundred pound but carpenters have already had their fee from our compensation. Spoke to one member of staff today to when we will expect the rest of our money(not a solicitor) ,and when asking her if Carpenters "don't really care" as they've had their fee- she admited it!!! Couldn't believe it!!!

Initially good service, they were quick to arrange assessments which I attended. Medical reports took a while to come back which delayed everything. The communication could be better, I feel that I have had to constantly chase Carpenters to find out what stage my claim is at. I have never managed to get through via the telephone number provided but a reasonable response time for emails. Approaching a year since my initial accident so hopefully my case will be settled soon.

I like many of you had a non fault car accident in 2016. The third party admitted liability straight away. carpenters law were appointed by my insurance company to deal with the personnal injury claim. I also got frustrated by the length of time in Which things were taking to sort out. But found out that the wait was not due to Carpenters it was in fact my insurance company holding things up . As They would never answer my claim handlers calls and emails. Emma was great. nearly always Replying to my emails within a day or two.
My only advice would be to contact customers in between long periods of inactivity with an update even if there has been Little progress.

Not happy me and my wife were involved in a accident in September 2016 and used these solicitors which I now think is a big mistake for month I would get the same letters sent to me again and again. And my wife would constantly have to phone them to see What's happening are they don't bother phoning you. Finally(12/03/2018) my wife gets paid out and they tell her I will get paid out a few days later, but am still waiting. And it's not worth me phoning up because if I do I get told there's no record of me like they did when I phoned them November last year even though I have given them my full name.

an absolute joke this company dealing with a personal injury claim i had been told and shown by third party insurance company compensation has been paid on my behalf on 23rd May 2016 to carpenters law .They are still saying that the information cannot be found on the payment and I still haven't heard anything back from them I keep trying to ring them but get no answer accident over a year ago avoid these clowns at all times.

Recently wrote a review, was contacted by someone and told what was going to happen with my claim etc after my case worker has not been forthcoming with updates etc, since then I don't get responses from my emails I have to send a message on the portal to get my emails acknowled. I keep being told different things, different time lengths, I was told the court pack would be sent on the 22nd and now apparently I have to wait longer while someone authorises it. Get blunt responses when I do get them not even answering all of my questions.

Very similar to most other reviews, my experience of Carpenters so far has been 'disappointing'. Still waiting for a medical 7 WEEKS after my accident, no response to emails, or web portal messages, umpteen failed promises of 'a call back later that day' . Absolutely terrible communication thus far.

**Prompt follow up call after posting the review with customer relations team, and also an update from claim handler** - Now updated to 3 stars - as they both explained what was happening & reason for delays to my claim.

RUBBISH COMPANY WITH A RUBBISH SERVICE , I DONT DO REVIEWS but I am Not happy with how slow it takes to get your claim settled, had an accident April 2015 only received my settlement offer in 2016, again rubbish service, after accepting my offer, it's been 65 and still no sign off my check but was told I would received it in 21 working days now I am being told they haven't received a check and they are chasing it up,I wonder how long I will be waiting this time again RUBBISH SERVICE... My neighbour had a accident in January not his fault received his offer 4weeks ago and check came 2 following weeks after settling, so how is it taking these idiots a year to settled my claim? They were assigned by my insurance company, when my car was hit in the rear. They handled the process quickly & efficiently & kept me informed at every stage.

Awful service, trying to get an email, letter or phone call from this 'legal' company is virtually impossible it seems, I'm not the type of person to pester but getting a reply is not much to ask for especially when YOU are making money out of my claim. My insurers recommended carpenters to me, I've also emailed them to ask why they insist on their customers use them.
I've contacted another solicitor about transferring my claim, and I will possibly be changing my legal representation. My claim has stood still since August and that is not acceptable but what annoys me most is that you don't make any effort whatsoever to update, reply or pull your finger out. Don't use this company would me my advice, they're a compensation claims factory rather than a solicitors

Was referred to these after an accident last April. Called today to see where my compensation is and I was told other side insurer had sent check on 22/12/17. Today they said they hadn't looked at the cheques and don't know if mine has arrived... Surely when a claim is settled the solicitor would pay the client and re claim the settlement from the other side... This is starting to drag now.. come on carpenters

My motor motor vehicle accident occurred in February 2012 and has finally been resolved by Naieem Ishaq!! The initial action by the Carpeters staff went very well but then unfortunately it all got bogged down as my file kept being passed from one staff member to anofher and the continuity was lost and there were long periods of inactivity ....until Naieem was given the file. She was the best ever!! She got straight onto the case, got a perfect understanding of all the complexities of all the details involved and was absolutely brilliant in her handling of everything. Naieem managed to get a satisfactory resolution within 6 months of taking up my case without having to go to court. Thankyou very much!!! Now I am awaiting payment and I have been promised 4 to 6 weeks. Thankyou Naieem and Carpenters.

From day one I was assigned an adviser, Hannah Smith, she stayed with me right throughout my claim. I was treated with the utmost sympathy and respect. I was completely kept in the picture every step of the way and the advise that was given to me was 100% accurate. When I had to call, things were explained in lay mans terms, all my questions were answered and my adviser took time to listen to me fully and attentively.

My claim was settled fully and to my satisfaction within the timescale predicted by Hannah.

I would not hesitate to recommend Carpenters Law to anyone who has been in an accident of any sort.

Thank the Lord for Chris Kennedy! It took just under 4 years to get my case to court and for the first 3 I had a different solicitor through Carpenters. I posted a review last summer saying how i knew i was gonna lose my case with that solicitor. Within 1 hour Chris Kennedy was on the phone to me and in that first 10 minute discussion, we had discussed far more about the case than i had in the previous 3 years. Chris has been competent, efficient and kept me well informed with regular updates. He has discussed my case whenever i phoned without making me feel i was wasting his time. No question was too small or irrelevant. My case was by no means clear cut. Having had my car rear ended by someone who denied an accident occurred, was a battle. Chris was honest about our chances and the pitfalls of going to trial. I felt i could absolutely trust his advice. On going to court i was concerned that i would be represented by someone i had never spoke to, but Chris assured me he was good and oh my word he was! Again Chris was spot on. We went to court, I went through Hell (court is no picnic), but we WON..the judgement was 100% in my favour. I have absolutely no doubt that Chris Kennedy got me to that judgement, he is a credit to Carpenters..I would have no hesitation using their services again if i had Chris on the case. So thank you again and give him a pay rise!!!!

I have been very impressed with carpenters. The lady who supported me through a very difficult case was called Naaiem and she went over and above to help me. She was always quick to respond and happy to answer any question I had.

I don't normally write reviews but feel compelled to warn people about this company.

Quite possibly the worst customer experience I have ever encountered. My claim went on for almost a year (I was not at fault) and in that time I made dozens upon dozens of calls and emails to move things along. Communication was extremely poor, they did not gather evidence correctly, I had to gather my own documents and call insurers and third parties on their behalf. Their culture is one of refusing to pick up the phone. I never once received a phone call for an update even though I requested explicitly numerous times. I was continually told that people were 'out of the office' and this is why things they promised to action were not. In the end I had to take matters into my own hand and make the necessary investigations, calls and cross-reference of evidence for myself to get the outcome I deserved. Only after threatening legal action did they actually take notice and even after that they were still incapable of picking up the phone.
I highly recommend you NEVER use this firm. They are cowboys and have absolutely no respect for their customers.

I appointed this company to assist with a legal matter over the course of a three and a half year period.

My case eventually went through three of their staff. The handover in all cases was unprofessional and I had to resubmit information and documents I had already provided (thankfully I made electronic copies).

I would call and email to no avail as I was simply ignored in most cases and really had to push immensely hard for a response in some cases.

Documents I posted and had acknowledgement of receipt were later lost and the opinions of the staff were completely different from each other on how to proceed.

The middle person whom dealt with my case for the longest period was the one whom told me that my loss of earnings in the form of missed O.T outweighed the actual claim for damages. I was told this so I expected it.

However, when he left the company and the third person took over I was told this wasn't the case. It was highly misleading. Within six months I settled and took what I could and I'm so happy I did as I felt I spent way too much time doing effectively what was asked of myself things that had already been done.

Based on my personal experience, I would never entertain approaching this company ever again, nor would I advise anyone else to.

Carpenter's wrote the reply below. I did write an email to them as requested to no avail. Nobody has bothered to reply. Big surprise.

Trying to get hold of my case handler, email, phone calls, letters. Absolutely shocking, sometimes 2-3 weeks without anybody picking the phone up, never reply to emails. . In fairness when I do eventually get through my case handler is very helpful, I've got three claims with you and we are the ones always chasing up our cases. I don't like to leave negative reviews but the lack of communication is appalling. My daughters case, well we where told six weeks ago a figure we should expect, still no confirmation of offer of aknowlegement. My accident was June 2015.

Genuinely the worst, most frustrating company I have ever had to deal with in my entire life. I ve never felt so undervalued as a customer, especially a customer that has been through a high speed motorcycle crash, and basically had to deal with everything by myself, with the smallest amount of help possible from Carpenters.

They seem to be attached to most insurers as their preferred solicitiors to suggest to their own customers after a crash.
Just please, please, please don t agree to go with them. Useless from the moment the whole thing started.

I was directed to this firm recently via my insurers after a recent car accident which I was not at fault. I had excellent communication throughout with this firm. They were honest and offered sound clear advice. My case handler Mr Peter Gill in particular was very helpful throughout, explaining the process and offering clear guidance.
