Regret the day I agreed to use them for my house conveyance via the recommendation from my estate agent. Very poor performance and service. I have worked at a conveyancing solicitors and found their procedures and time scales were awful. do not use them unless you want a very stressful experience.

Myself and my husband used Carpenters solicitors after an accident in our motobility car. We had a first class service from Hayley Soul who handled our claim. We were kept uptodate regular and never had to chase for information. I would highly recommend Carpenters Solicitors.

They don t answer any calls and when they do the lawyer is not available. They obviously trying to avoid me and i have had the worse experience ever. DO NOT USE THEM IF YOU WANT RESULT. Edit: Spoke to James who cleared up a few misconceptions about how companies such as Carpenters receive their payment. This however still doesn't excuse the lack of communication and the method of communication when I did receive it. A reluctance to have the conversation with the third party insurers which ultimately resulted in their acceptance of liability is still a sore spot and although I now feel less bitter in my dealings with Carpenters, I still would not use them in future.

Everything was great at first. I was regularly contacted by Carpenters who promptly gathered any evidence I could provide and they helped to arrange my appointment with a medical professional. I was repeatedly told I had a strong case and that they were aggressively pursuing the third party.
However once all of their potential revenue streams had dried up and they had maxed out their legal expenses, bam. All contact stopped. When I did finally get a response I had a new case handler and without even giving me the courtesy of a phone call, simply sent an email pressuring me to accept 50/50 responsibility. They ignored irrefutable evidence which discredited the third paty's tall tale. I dug my heels in and refused to accept any portion of blame and after weeks of back and forth, my new case handler begrudgingly went back to the third party to seek clarification of her story, at which point she accepted full liability!
I will NEVER add legal cover to my motor insurance again. They are only interested in milking your case for their own financial gain and will only actually help you if you have dash cam footage and an independent witness who can corroborate your story... But if you had those things, why would you need a Solicitor in the first place!?

Utterly pathetic. I have had to tolerate some of the most unsavoury individuals at this company. I did not choose them for my accident claim but was put through directly by Hastings who were my insurers.

Im hindsight I should have chosen a local company. Carpenters have hit the jackpot on my family's claim while we have received pathetic and demeaning service.

Telephone conversations have always been very polite.. Helpful and have left me in no doubt that my claim is being handled very well... Carpenters have been a fantastic company to deal with, it is the first time I have ever had to make a claim for anything and they helped me through every step of the way. I dealt with 3 different people during my claim at Carpenters and all were excellent, their communications back to me were always prompt and clear and technical blurb that I couldn't understand. They helped me get a nice compensation pay out and could have probably got more but I didn't want the hassle of having to go to court, they did pressure me into anything I didn't want to do and understood that I didn't want to proceed further. So a great experience with Carpenters form day one, would definitely recommend them to family and friends.

Well this is my partners claim this happened 14 months ago we have just been to see second Dr we phone to talk to Antony Evens and he's never ever available so you speak to another staff member we have just spoke to Mike !!! Who wasn't interested in what we had to say who was very rude and abrupt Mike!! When your working with the public make sure your polite,professional,and a little sympathetic because theses people your working for IE the pubic have had very bad experiences.
This has got to be the worst company ever no one ever gets in touch to tell you what's going on or where your up 2 with your claim and when you contact them they make you feel like your a nuisance will never ever deal with this company ever AGAIN!!!!
And will strongly advise people to stay well clear.

Very disappointed with the customer service and lack of communication from them regarding my claim. I was constantly chasing up for updates on my claim... What should of been a straight forward claim seemed to take ages for them to deal with. I know they probably have lots of clients but it took days for them to reply to emails phone calls were difficult to get through and promises not kept.

My minor claim with them has been open for around 6 months and it has still not been closed.
It's impossible to get hold of the person in charge of my claim (she never answers emails or phone calls), so I always end up having to talk with one of her team.
In the end, because of supposed slowness from a 3rd party, they told me to get the repair done myself and they would reimburse me.
Nearly a month on and I haven't seen a penny of it.

I believe it is more than clear they have communication issue, I regret that I hired them, my case is simple and straightforward, even the insurance agree to accept reliability. but the procrastination is high in this company, I have emailed them and no outcome, 3rd party company called me without even being notified by them that I should expect a call even via email. it is an appearance that they don't appreciate customer, I am not sure if I signed a contract with them or no. not happy at all.
However, the good think in this company they read the review about them and they did contact me to fix the issues and makes things write.

I've been delighted with the service I received. The people I've dealt with have always been very patient and understanding. My solicitor was Adam Kinnear who was always very helpful and kept me updated at all times. Telephone calls were always answered and calls returned if Adam wasn't available. Amazing solicitors from start to finish with all 3 of my daughters and there claims . Heather Mcardle was great always getting back to me kept in communication with me also linsey fisher with my oldest daughters accident claim it was a complicated case as my daughter has special needs and they where all brilliant . My daughter even had to go to court she was really nervous and panicked a lot but as soon as Chris the barrister introduced himself he made myself and my daughter feel at ease I would recommend them they are brilliant and got all my daughters claims settled with great results.thank you so much .

This review is 5 star's only for James McConville - Customer Resolution and Audit Manager who seems to be the only person (along with Zoe Scarce Platt my first case handler) that actually care at this company! After 18 months of getting no where with my case handlers who seem to rapidly change and the last one being the worst - ignoring emails and then when you call giving vague answers and an air of indifference - James settled my case. After dealing with James since June he managed to get the ball rolling with the other solicitors and final close the case keeping me updated regularly and professionally. He really cares about his work and it shows. The other case handlers are either completely overworked with too many cases and working under pressure or just lazy and in the wrong job! Either way it leads to appalling customer service from Carpenters. Thank you James for your exemplary service.

After a serious motorbike accident last year, my insurance company referred me to Carpenters Solicitors (Glasgow office). From day one my case was handled by Calum MacGregor. At every step of the process, Calum was very professional and understanding (even when I wasn t).

The medical professionals that Carpenters referred me to for my assessments are exceptionally qualified in their own fields of speciality. Some of these meetings were also very helpful in my recovery as I could convey their concerns to my own doctors.

Although the Legal side of my case was dealt with fairly quickly, unfortunately the damage done in the crash has meant that I still have some serious ongoing health issues. This means that I have been and still am unable to return to my job. During the period since my accident (18th October 2016) Mr MacGregor has secured two very substantial interim payments on my behalf. These payments have went a long way to take the pressure off of me financially which cannot be underestimated during an incredibly stressful time for me and my family.

The other parties insurance company made an unexpectedly high final offer which I was inclined to accept. Mr MacGregor advised me not to accept until I had spoken with an Advocate. A meeting was arranged and I spoke with Mr Kenneth Christine (the advocate). The meeting lasted a couple of hours during which time Mr Christine, Mr MacGregor and myself discussed all aspects of my case (past, present and future). After much deliberation, I decided to accept the six figure offer and would like to thank both Mr MacGregor and Mr Christine for their very helpful and professional advice.

Slow to respond and further the case. Waited three months for them to chase up a simple email from other side and still haven t had settlement. They don t appear to care and often don t answer questions I ve asked. Not happy.

I have had the misfortune of being in two accidents in the space of 12 months, both accidents not of my fault, the other party tried to get out of excepting liability which caused both cases to be dragged out for over 2 years. Carpenters Solicitors helped me with both cases. To date I have won both cases with their help. I just want to say that the help I got from Carpenters has been second to none. Very professional, Very Friendly and they are very good at their jobs. All the advice that was provided from Carpenters was 100% I recently went to court for my last accident and my barrister was Awesome, Absolutely fantastic, Sterling :)
Together we won my last case. I cannot express how grateful I am to Carpenters and the two solicitors and barrister that helped me win both cases. I will be forever in your debt. Thank you so much for helping me get justice. I will never forget what you guys have done for me. I am finally stress free.

One star is more than generous if i could leave minus ones i would. I have never known such an incompetent company. 2 years I have been passed pillar to post one case handler to another. Was told that my cheque had been sent from the third party to then be told a week later that the cheque had been lost in the post and consequently another cheque would have to be raised. I have phoned twice a week since December to find out what was going on and been told varying degrees of lies. Called today AM told they hadn't resieved the cheque today call back pm after post had been checked. Called back PM cheque had been resieved and after been asked if I had the money in my account and I told them no was then told that the money must have been paid into someone else's account/file and they will have to do some digging and as luck would have it my case handler wasn't in the office. Furious would be putting it mildly. I have over looked the unanswered emails the hours spent on the phone most times ringing out and not getting anywhere. Incompetent unprofessional and if I had chance I wouldn't of even let them handle my claim as a passenger in a RTC

My partners insurance appointed Carpenters to deal with our claim , since the word go , hes had one bit of paper work and one phone call relating to the claim in 6 month , endless amounts of chasing and questions being asked whats happening , to be told a utter load of rubbish , with the latest being nobody can help me as the case handler is on annual leave ( a lady called Pamela who has never rang us once may i add & never gave me any confidence that the claim is moving forward ) , we are now 6 months down the line and yet again told that they will speak with the relevant department and someone will be in touch , lol iv heard it before .. see how quick they are to respond to online feedback .. avoid at every possible chance !!

From my last update which I chased 3 month ago there still no further forward. Staff don't seem to want to be there. 10 month down the line and still not finished. And after all is said and done they still deserve 25%?! What for exactly, not customer service for sure.

At First i didn't have a very good experience dealing with Carpenters at all and it was extremely disappointing how the claim started off. I then went through the complaint system and a man called rob took over my claim, he then done a fabulous job in the end. I was very shocked with how unprofessional i felt my first solicitor was.
I would love to put more than 3 stars but due to the disappointing start i feel i am unable to do so.
The improvement i feel needs to be addressed was communication and making sure every one in your firm is more professional but i can understand people are busy doing other jobs.
That is just some feedback you could improve on, please take is as constructive criticism not me being rude.

Overall a disappointing start but as soon as Carpenters dealt with my complaint and a new solicitor took over it was a fabulous business to work with.

Absolutely useless!!! Stay right away!! Six months into a claim. They ve made no progress. I haven t received a single phone call from them. Lee Brown, who is handling my claim is rude, a liar and has done absolutely nothing to progress this claim.

I'm very disappointed with my dealings with Carpenters. I feel like I've been mislead with false information and it's ended up in my mental health taking a huge turn for the worse due to anxiety and nervousness.

I had an accident and they were initially really great, them seemed hell bent on getting me the 'compensation I deserve'. However it seems that I've been pulled pillar to post, with no information available.

I was told when agreeing to their legal team putting in a claim for my compensation that once I agreed to it, I couldn't change or cancel or sign with other people.
Considering the fact that I've never been in a crash before, it was not at all my fault, the other party took full blame, and I was still in shock when I spoke to them, I went along with it. Thinking that that was perfectly legal.

It turns out, that information is not only wrong but its also illegal.

So, I was refered to physio treatment, booked my appointment and attended. I wasn't given any treatment at that session, just a review to see what the damage was and if any other sessions where needed.

The lady I saw, was very lovely and I had a chat with her regarding the insurance claim and she said, in no uncertain terms that the reason the insurance puts you through and 'pays for' 7 sessions of physio is that it's cheaper than paying you any compensation.

It is impossible to talk to anyone at Carpenters and emails are left unanswered, I can't help but feel my case has dragged on unnecessarily due to Carpenters lack of diligence in keeping files and communication up to date. 14 months so far even though the other driver has admitted liability.

*UPDATE - Carpenters has responded to my post asking me to contact them. I have emailed Client Feedback on a few occasions and have not received a response to my emails. In two of these I requested a copy of the complaints procedure by return email - and of course have heard nothing back.

IT IS OBVIOUS THE OWNER UNDERSTANDS THE IMPACT OF ON LINE REVIEWS AS THEY ARE REPLYING SO QUICKLY TO ANY NEGATIVE POSTS. THE FACT THE OWNER IS SO ACTIVE ON THIS FORUM JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW EASILY THEY COULD BE POST BOGUS POSTS!!!

The reason I find it so hard to believe that so many customers were so satisfied is down to the shocking treatment my daughter had by this firm. She was 17 at the time of the accident (this is why I was required to speak on her behalf). She was badly injured and quite distraught after the accident. She was referred to carpenters by her insurer who told us they would call soon. We did not hear from Carpenter's for weeks, and when I took it on my self to call them they were closed or busy. Because my daughter was in obvious need of physio, I called a firm I had used to my own RTA case previously. They were able to set up the case and arrange a meeting with an agent over the phone on the first call. However before I could sign paperwork with this company, I received that long awaited call from Carpenter and spoke to a gentleman who said everything in his power to persuade me to sign paperwork with them and cancel with the other solicitor, This turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes we could have made and since signing that paperwork with carpenters they seem to have lost interest in us and seem to have no goal of settling our claim. Impossible to get a straight answser from them when we do finally get in touch with them after being passed from pillar to post!!

Very Poor service. Had an Non Fault accident in August 2016 and I'm still trying to arrange a medical for my son. I'm having letters saying they have been trying to contact us - But funny we have had no missed calls and then letters saying we have failed to attend Appointments, but the appointments are being cancelled by the Medical Agency. Michael j jones handled my claim and despite making several attemtps to contact him and leaving messages i did not hear from him.
I finally received an email saying i need to respond to his email today otherwise he will proceed with the claim without my instructions.

He accused me of denying the incident, he refused the fact that he is acting on my behalf and said he is acting on insurance company's behalf.

He refused to listen to my side of the story in the beginning and accepted the third party's claim of thousands when my car had only touched their car while i was reversing in the car park and they had previous damage on their car.

All i would recommend to all of you reading this, please use some private lawyers or claim management company who will actually defend you rather than waiting for your insurance company to sell your claim to such solicitors who will not help you but only favour third party.

Avoid Avoid at all costs!!!My case is currently ongoing but my experience with this company is that I would appeal to people that even if your insurance company recommends you use them DONT!!!; be prepared to get your own solicitors because in the long run it will it will save you all the hassle of dealing with this incompetent company.As an example of how good they are, they issued court proceedings within 5 months of my accident,then informed me that the 3rd party had not responded so were asking for a summary judgment, to then admit they were suing the wrong company.I have given them 1 star because you cannot give zero.

Terrible customer service. In the 6 months that our supposedly simple claim has been ongoing, have not been able to speak to our solicitor on the phone even once. The receptionists must be trained to give such poor customer service, as I don't believe it comes naturally to anyone to be that bad at their job.
Have just called five times, asking each time NOT to be transferred to a line which just rings out... only to be transferred five times to - a line that rings out! Have just wasted 25 minutes trying to get through to anyone, and that has been the same story every time I've ever called them.
Regarding a particular part of our claim in the early stages, I was given incorrect advice on how to proceed by at least 3 different members of staff, each of them giving completely different (and incorrect) instructions.
Our solicitor finally advised on the correct way to proceed, but that in itself took three months! And that was a very slow response, via email.
I grudge the fact this firm will get some of the money we are claiming for. Because we have not been kept up to date on what's happening, we've had no decent communication whatsoever, we haven't been listened to, and we haven't ever been contacted via telephone despite several requests.

Sometimes took weeks to respond to emails. And that's when I was chasing progress. My assumption is they don't work on your case until you email and then the wait for a response is while they do some actual soliciting!

They are totally not trained professionals as they sent non-legal documents to the 3rd part solicitor who obviously rejected them. Surely Carpenters would know this to be the case?



I had to make a decision to accept or go to court in a 24 hour period as I was given the final offer (before court) 24 hours before the legal deadline! Believe me you would NOT want this shambles of a company representing you in front of a court!!!

They couldn't even get the initial figure on the paperwork correct that was the bill from the physio company. The 3rd parties solicitor had to correct it within the settlement paperwork!
