Great people to work with! We won't go anywhere else! Dave and Taylor are our lifesavers! We also we're experiencing some tire noise one day while in Des Moines, even though we hadn't purchased the car through them, they still got it in to look at within minutes. Turns out, lug nuts were loose, tightened and on our way within 15 minutes with no charge! :)

We recently purchased a used vehicle from this dealership. I was kind of let down however with the whole process. I felt like I had to do all the follow up and communication. We wanted to look at about four vehicles that were the same, however, when we told our salesman when we could make it he only had one vehicle on the lot to show us. That one happened to be the one that we were least interested in. Then I found one that I liked online and told him and he kept showing me some other options and I told them no that I was only interested and focused on this one. There was not much back and forth, you just have to come up to a number that they are good with. Which let me clarify on that, I am very happy with the price of the vehicle and the vehicle itself.
Before the deal was completed I had purchased GM oem mud flaps (not from the dealership) but would not have cost them much and they were not willing to do so. I did it myself and it literally took 30 minutes and no drilling. Then afterwards I just asked politely if I could get a free oil change and tire rotation to see how I liked their service bay and for additional potential business, again I do not feel that this was out of line and it doesn't cost this dealership much since it is in bulk. I wasn't looking for a years worth or anything. Again I had to message the salesman to follow up with this request which all he said he could do is a couple of car washes, which I am sorry felt like a slap in the face I gave you business and I really just felt like I was just a transaction to these guys which is fine I guess but it is sometimes the little things. I will not be driving out of my way for just a car wash thanks but no thanks. After that I took their logo off the back and threw away the salesman's key chain. I do not like to write bad reviews and I cannot not say that I wouldn't buy another vehicle because as I stated earlier I was happy with the price and the vehicle itself. We totaled our vehicle and they were nice enough to hold it for us till our check went through. But as far as the salesman and follow through itself I was less than impressed. If they do reach out to me it sucks that it took a negative review like this to do so. As far as that salesman is concerned too, just be happy I left your name out of it. I thought about it long and hard and I get this is your livelihood and that you have a family so just think about your next deal that you make. Again I am sorry but this is my honest opinion so far.

I always have a pleasant experience with any of the members in the service area. Quentin always listens to my concerns with either of my vehicles. I feel I get quality work for the price I have to pay. Even though I did not purchase my vehicles at Bob Brown, I feel a part of the family and trust them. Quentin never makes me feel because I'm a female I don't know anything about cars. He gives me great service and I give him cookies!

I brought my car in to the collision center on Monday just to get an estimate on the cost of repairs. That experience was quick and easy. After this the insurance company company handling my repairs needed the estimate to be uploaded and sent to her. On Tuesday I called to ask if it had been sent. They told me they would do it by the afternoon. By Thursday it had not been done. When I called to ask why it had not been done the man (Scott from collision) on the phone was really rude and made up an excuse and said, "Well we have cars here that haven't been touched for a week" . WELL EXCUSE ME But that is not my problem. Get yourself some more staff if that's the case.. I only brought my car in for a quote.. Don't tell a customer you're going to do something and not do it.

I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. First of all when I purchased the car, the finance guys make you flip through hoops before they will come down on the interest rate, which for them is a very easy thing to do. Second I purchased a Chevy Equinox that was 1 year old. A month after driving it there is problems with the car already. My car salesman misinformed me that I would not need an appointment to get the problems fixed. This was very far from the truth, even after I booked an appointment, they called to cancel on me because they were too backed up and only one mechanic. Then when I finally get my car in to get fixed, it was there for a full 7 hours and only one of the 3 minor problems were fixed. One of these problems was my temperature control, something very obvious that there is a problem, hot air blows when you have the vent at what is supposed to be the coldest temperature. Should be a no brainer, but not for these Bob Brown mechanics, they seemed to think everything was just fine with the temperature. In service you are not treated like a customer should be, only one person can make the appointment for you and when they go home for the day no one else can help you. Everyone seems too busy and no one seems to care. You sure get treated wonderfully when they want to rip you off for selling you a faulty vehicle, but you will not get treated like you even matter to them when you need any sort of repair. Don't count on anything getting fixed by Bob Brown service. I would save your time and buy a vehicle elsewhere.

I took my wife's GMC Acadia in for what I believed...

I took my wife's GMC Acadia in for what I believed should have been a simple fix - the front blower wasn't working. Turned out to be a nearly $500 repair because the blower motor "took out" the the control module or vice-versa...some load of crap or another if you ask me. One component "taking out" another and viola, now you need both components replaced. I'm sure if I had the time and did a little research online I probably could have saved myself about $250 but, I relented and let them do the work. I guess they have to pay for the big new campus some how.

Not only that, but there were about 4 other costly repairs that they happened to identify while it was in. How convenient considering we are just over 61,000 miles on a 60,000 mile warranty...suddenly the thing if falling apart!

We've had no end of trouble with this GMC Acadia since we bought it. Frankly, it's a $47,000 pile of crap if you ask me.

We are two payments away from owning it and I will be looking at trading it in for something in the near future. I can tell you this, however, I will never purchase a GMC again and I will never purchase another vehicle from Bob Brown.

Update:

Out of curiosity I did some quick research on Amazon and found both parts for under $100 total:

15-81638 GM Original Equipment Heating and Air Conditioning Blower Control Module - $18.99 plus free shipping with Amazon Prime

TYC 700236 Replacement Blower Assembly - $47.41 plus free shipping with Amazon Prime

Went out to YoutTube and easily found a number of videos that showed how to change both components and neither looked difficult at all. I'd guess even someone like myself with no experience in ever having changed either of these components could complete the job in less than an hour.

Point is, going to a car dealer to have these kinds of repairs done simply doesn't make sense in this day and age. Parts are easily accessible online at a fraction of the cost that a dealer will charge you and there are plenty of step-by-step videos that show you how you can make the repairs yourself with tools that most everyone has available in their toolbox. Even if you don't, you could easily buy the tools and STILL be money ahead.

I feel pretty stupid for letting the service tech convince me that this work needed to cost this much. I should have known better though. Another dealer wanted $265 to change the spark plugs on my son's Honda Accord. I purchased the plugs at NAPA for around $55, bought an extension for my socket set and we changed all the plugs in less than hour.

I won't make this kind of $400 mistake again.

I've had repairs done here. Work on my car was slow to start (they reported the shop was short staffed), but I was getting calls with updates after the shop had officially closed for the night, and it showed that they took the length of time I didn't have my car seriously. Ultimately, they kept me well informed of service and costs by phone, and came in slightly under online estimates for similar service.

I've had oil changes here too, and its the quickest I've ever been in and out. Football was on in the lobby, and I only got to see six plays before they had me back on the road.

I stopped at quicklube at the Chevy store while in town. Even though they were busy the staff was professional, efficient and Kody was very helpful and explained everything clearly that was going to happen with my visit. The manager (Joe) came into the lobby several times to point out things to myself and other customers about their vehicles to recomend service on things before they could become a problem which was very helpful since my car has a line leaking I did not know about. Joe took time to get me an estimate on a repare and took me out and showed me the concern. I got a detailed report on my car's health and contact information business card with a service advisor (John) to follow up on a repair. Joe also came in and tried to talk to a lady upset about something and handeled it very professionally and did not get frustrated. Dispite being very busy they cleaned my windshield and even took time to open my car door for me on my way out! The whole experience exceeded my expectation and customer service was great, while I do not get to Des Moines all the time I was pleased with my visit and will be back in the future.

My wife and I were looking for a used or certified Buick Lacrosse. We live near Omaha, NE and we were not finding the color or the right equipment in any of the local cars. We decided to expand our search to the neighboring area. We found a few different cars in the neighboring areas with exactly what we wanted. We sent a few messages, but unfortunately we weren't getting any responses.....at least until we sent a message to Bob Brown Chevrolet. Within three minutes of sending the message I had an email from Jason in the internet department. After a few emails back and forth where he answered all of my questions, we set up an appointment for the following Saturday. The excellent level of customer service we were receiving was evident from the first email and definitely continued when we arrived. The Buick was waiting near the front door with a welcome sign in the front window. Jason accompanied us on a drive and answered a few more questions and then the wife and I left for a bit to grab some lunch. When we arrived back to the dealership, the excellent customer service continued. Everyone was extremely helpful without taking it too far. No one was pushy or overbearing and they were very patient as we took our time to decide. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the whole experience and the next time I am looking to buy, I will make the drive from Omaha to Bob Brown again.

My car was with Bob Brown for 2 months I worked with John in the service dept. At first they had no idea what was wrong. They were amazing with communicating with me and making sure I knew what they were doing. It took so long due to a part being back ordered. Once they received the part they were quick to get it changed in my car, test drive it, and gave it back to me the same day! Also was very thankful for getting a loaner vehicle during this whole time. Of course COVID 19 outbreak started during the time my car was with them. They took precautions and made sure everyone was safe when I picked up my car. I am so glad I took my car to bob brown and will always be my go to for now on. Thank you!

Prior to my recent experience, I had purchased two used autos from Bob Brown. Those experiences along with the obvious customer-focused growth of the business gave me the confidence to buy a new vehicle from the team. The combination of inventory options, convenience of location, service/maintenance options really gave me peace of mind prior to making the decision to buy. When I needed extra time to make my decision, I was not pressured to stay on the lot and decide at that moment. When it was time to finalize the sale, the team happily fielded and answered my many questions. They let me take the time that I needed to feel good about signing the papers. The hospitality didn't stop once the deal was done, and I drove off the lot with no regrets and no outstanding concerns. I would definitely recommend the Bob Brown team to anyone in the Des Moines Metro area who is looking for value, convenience and outstanding service.

It started at Mr Coleman, my salesman. Just a hard working, good guy. Ms Fife is so energetic and kind, it's infectious. Melissa and Randy in service just get things done, period. Ms Tejada, she's a natural and good with people. I've observed this dealer, and it follows institutional theory well, in that Institutions take on the personalities of it's owner or leaders. Our Sales Agent was Cody, and after reading reviews he seems to be good. However, he didn't listen to what we were looking for in a car - drivetrain; wanted AWD and he had it for FWD. Had our car appraised and they didn't even drive it, looked at it for maybe 5 min.

Was not impressed with Bob Brown, I feel that our age was a big factor in how they treated us.

So historically, communication from service depart...

So historically, communication from service department staff has been lacking..either incorrect appointment time, or late/no follow-up. However, the last time I made an appointment, I was actually the one who forgot about it after a trip out of state. So, the next week I decided to just go "walk-in" and due to no loaners available was able to schedule (and keep) an appointment for a couple of days later. The lady who met us at the garage doors and helps with intake is a phenomenal person! She is very kind, very upbeat, professional, and helpful. This trip in, we got there and the loaner was provided, I got my daughter to school on time still, and my car repair was finished and the loaner returned in less than two hours. I was pretty impressed with that - how smoothly it went, and the repair (rear windshield fluid was leaking into the car) seems to be working well. Thank you.

I had shopped for my car for 6 months! I found a Chevy Malibu on your website and sent a message to inquire. Mike McNeley was quick to respond to my email. I traveled over an hour to look at the car only to find that it had sold just minutes before I arrived! I looked at another car but it just wasn't "the car". I had seen another Malibu on your website but it was still at another location being cleaned and inspected. Mike was very helpful and I never felt pressured to buy something that I didn't want. I ended up buying the other car sight unseen! Mike messaged me when the car was ready and even shot a video and sent it to me! I am more than pleased with my purchase!!! I will absolutely recommend Mike to my friends and family!

I did not buy a vehicle due to a very poor experience at Bob Brown Urbandale. I keep getting surveys and congratulations on several new vehicles I've supposedly purchased at this dealership. I've asked for them to stop. I've spoken to a Bryce (maybe?), a Joe, a Tim (maybe?) and all have assured me that 100%, never again will I hear from Bob Brown Auto. When will I see this promise fulfilled?

The only thing missing was an explanation of which oil change I would receive and how much it would cost. Afterwards I had to go online to figure out which oil change I rec'd. I didn't have to pay since I had credit (newly purchased car) which was great, but when I saw the charge on my bill I thought it was a little high. I guess I rec'd the platinum since my car is newer than 2011.

They got me what I needed and I didn't have to "haggle" I was able to get a great SUV at a great price without having to think about if they were taking advantage of me. Most of all I didn't get "talked" down to like so many other dealerships do to customers. I am excited to go back and get my husband a new SUV.

I'm giving five stars because of salesman Mike Holzman. I threw a rod on my C5 Z06 and Bob Brown was the only dealer in the country at that time that had the combination of options I was looking for in a C7 so I negotiated by phone and flew from Los Angeles to inspect and drive the car. Mike went above and beyond the call of duty in multiple ways including picking me up at the airport, taking me to the dealership for the inspection, taking me to my hotel, bringing me back the next day to conclude the deal, taking me back to the airport and later coordinating with the shipper. On top of that, after Mike dropped me off at the hotel after the test drive, I discovered my wallet was missing and called Mike, who drove all the way back to work to find it (I inadvertently left it in the C7 after the test drive) and brought it back to me at the hotel, which was a lot of driving, especially given that his work day was already officially done and I was not staying anywhere near the dealership. Mike never complained and was in every way, from my first call to the last, cheerful, professional and a pleasure to deal with. He is really a credit to the dealership and to Chevrolet.

My only complaints about the experience had nothing to do with Mike. Someone above him who I had to deal with about the paperwork almost lost the sale by not understanding the dealership's own paperwork and when I got to Iowa I discovered that the car had about 500 more miles on it than advertised. I suspect that someone above Mike was using it as their personal car and racked up the miles during the short time I was dealing with Mike before coming to Iowa as it would take a lot of test drives to put 500 miles on it. That was not cool but I do not believe Mike knew about it and I'm still giving the dealership five stars because Mike alone deserves 10 stars. As crazy as it might sound to fly from LA to Iowa to by a car, when I'm ready for a new one, I would seriously consider going back just to deal with Mike.

He answered all my questions ( and there were a lot!) and was so willing to go above and beyond what I was expecting. They worked with me to make sure I felt comfortable with my trade, and made sure I was put in the right vehicle for my needs. I would highly recommend Bob Brown and make sure to ask for Alberto!

I tried to deal for a new vehicle for over a week until I finally had to settle for the color I did not want in the Traverse. I feel like the dealership did not look hard enough for my choice of vehicle and color. It is bad when my husband and I don't even want to drive around that much in the Traverse. I tried every Chevy dealer in Iowa and Bob Brown Chevrolet got me the best price. Mike McNeley was my sales consultant. I highly recommend him. The dealership is really nice and everyone there was very professional. I would definitely buy from Bob Brown again.

I recently purchased a used 2014 Chevrolet Cruze w...

I recently purchased a used 2014 Chevrolet Cruze with low miles. The sale representative Joseph Pentland, was extremely helpful. After the purchase he called several times to check to make sure everything was okay with the car and to see if I had any questions. I was very happy with his help and service.
With that being said, I was a little less than pleased with the finance department. When we had to work with them during the process of purchasing the car, there were several times when we asked them questions and they seemed either confused or not sure of the answer. One of which, asking for an amortization schedule so we could see cost comparisons for a loan over different months, should have been a simple task, as their job is financing. However, when we asked them this question, they seemed confused. Also, we asked about the $100 Chevrolet accessory coupon that, if you did the "Shop, Click, Drive" online, you could receive. I was curious if they did something similar to that at the dealership itself. Again, the financial guy seemed somewhat confused and told me I needed to just do that online.
After doing this online, I took my car in to get a small part fixed 3 weeks later. While there I stopped by the parts dealer to use the online coupon. They informed me that it should have been something that was done at the time of the purchase.
On top of this, we traded in two vehicles. This would normally be no big deal, however, again the finance guys messed it up. Instead of putting both vehicles into the contract, they put only one. This was not apparent at first and we were almost home when, luckily, we looked and noticed one missing. As a result, we had to drive back to the dealership to have a new contract printed out for us to sign.
Lastly, after taking my car in the first time to get a part fixed, I was told that they needed to order the small retainer clip that needed replaced. I made a new appointment for the following week. I took the car in, waited for about 20 minutes, and was informed that the retainer clip was still not in stock and I would have to come back again to have it fixed.
Overall, I was happy with my sales consultant, other than that I feel like the dealership needs to their act together.

Great dealership!! My husband was only in Des Moines for a couple hours to help our daughter move. We live 4 hours away. They were able and very accommodating to get our Diesel Pickup in right and away when we called and made a quick fix for us!! Much appreciated!!

I was on a tight schedule and needed to be back on the road. The service department was very busy this week and it was a little difficult to get the appointment. I finally spoke with Jan Stewart who put me in touch with Randy Walker. Randy had me meet with Bob Lundy. My experience and repairs went very smoothly from this point on. They were even able to complete the air bag recall that other dealers had been unable to do for several years due to having no parts available. My 16 Sierra was repaired in the body shop after a rear-end collision. The first time they brought it to me the bed was misaligned on the frame, there were still masking lines in the door jambs, and the spare wasn t hung right. They made all that right the next day but since then I have noticed that the emblems on the tailgate were not applied straight. These folks do not have an eye for details.

I took my car in on Tuesday before work. They were able to get me into a loaner in a brand new car. Told me it would take about a week or more to get my part in and put on. I got called today (Thursday) saying my car is ready and was fixed! Exceptional service! Free car wash! Very happy!

I was given an estimate of approximately $2000 for repairs on my Escalade. My husband called for a second opinion and they quoted us a cheaper price. He then called Dennis to let him know. Dennis immediately said he could take $200 off. That right there made me lose my trust in your company. Even more so when I found out one item you wanted to "replace" for $600 didn't need to be done. You were scamming me. The repairs cost $1100. Shame on you Bob Brown......I won't be back, nor will I recommend you to anyone.

Sent an email expressing interest in a car in the used lot and received a reply from Michael McNeley the next day, which was a Sunday. I was able to setup an appointment for Monday evening. I met Michael and he showed me the car and let me test drive it. He was really helpful and worked out a good deal with me so I was able to purchase the car the same day. I wasn't planning on buying it that day but he made it so easy and offered a really good deal. He even stayed late and waited on me to run home to grab my checkbook. Overall I was very satisfied with the high level of customer service.

Scott at the body shop was just amazing. He kept us informed about our Equinox and was so VERY helpful and extremely friendly. We have been bragging to everyone about how great all of you are there, from buying both our vehicles, to the quick lube, service dept and now body shop. That is why when we got involved in a hit and run, we didnt think twice about where we wanted our vehicle fixed. THANK YOU for being so customer service-minded!!!

I brought my car in for repair for an insurance claim. I needed my tail light and some body work fixed. I received a call my car was ready, just to receive a call back that after the car wash you noticed some paint scuffs and needed to fix it again. I had to switch rental cars from enterprise to one of yours. After my car was fixed again, I came up in the rain with my 2 children and their 2 car seats. The service manager told me my car was right outside the door. I walked around lugging my kids and their car seats in the rain to not be able to find my car. It turns out my car was near the back, so my service advisor ( Brad Beigler) went and pulled up my car for me. He was awesome through this whole experience by the way. I load up my kids just to realize the back seat was pushed down, crushing some items I had in the trunk. I get my kids situated and look over the work and notice they are 2 small paint chips I know were not there previously. My car is a 2008 and not in perfect condition, so instead of having them fix it yet again, I am just going to deal with the imperfections. I don't want to deal with another rental and the hassle of it all again. I actually currently need service and I have chosen to use another Chevy dealer in town.

He accurately described the truck that they drove down half way to meet me where I purchased the truck. I experienced a bad incident in which I totaled my brand new Chevy Colorado 3 days after purchase. Bob Brown went above and beyond during this timeframe and worked closely with my insurance adjustor to ensure that they had access to the wrecked vehicle. The collision department was very good about squeezing my vehicle in between appointments to ensure that the adjustor was able to make a decision on whether to total the vehicle or not. Once the determination was made, my salesmen, Pat Sullivan and Mike Fontana began the search for a replacement new vehicle for me. They were able to find a vehicle that I really love and it even has Front Collision alert! Hahaha I cannot say enough about how wonderful Bob Brown Chevrolet in Urbandale, Iowa has been. I will definitely NEVER buy another vehicle from anyone else.
