From checkin, to the pool, to room service, to the genuine care of the staff this hotel missed the mark by a long shot. Upon checkin there was a line of 6 guests waiting while 3 staff spoke with each other about when they would be leaving for the day. This is negligible but when you have to grab your checked in bags 35 minutes after arriving and have the wrong house keeping set(2 of one but none of the other) needless to say my trip didn t get off to the right start. From there I went to the pool where for close to 1 hour I tried to get the attention of anyone with a name tag, to my dismay everyone seemed too busy with other things. I had requested a in room menu because they don t have any printed in the room(not too sure what I m supposed to order from?) and ended up checking out before it came. The architecture itself is breath taking however the service is that of a holiday inn. Upon check out I witnessed and eventually helped an 80year old woman attempt to lift her bags down the stairs while 6 staff stood and asked if she or I needed a cab, this should be the least of your worries at this point.Hopefully the management see the obvious flaws and attempts to fix the many problems because this hotel has so many things going for it. Don t think I will be returning anytime soon unless some major changes happen :-/
This place was spectacular. From the drive in to the room views. When you drive in through the gates you re met with torches and jungle landscapes. It is the most beautiful scene in the world. I had to do the entrance a few times to get the real feel of it on camera. It s worth every penny. The service was a hit or miss at times, but there were some honorable mentions, most remarkable was Kody from Concierge. WOW. Above and Beyond, Super Star hospitality and information. I worked with a few from the hotel, but didn t receive the service like I did from Kody. The hotel staff were great, Maria from housekeeping and all the lovely ladies in the tower dining area. Same with Randall, Haweka and Luke from Valet. There was one other gentlemen that was extremely helpful in valet, but I can t remember his name bc it was hard to pronounce. They were phenomenal. I was very pleased with the property. However, The beach services were a flub, the beach and photography service was distasteful and the pool is tiny. Other than that I absolutely loved the hotel and the hotel grounds. It was stunning and breathtaking. The hotel staff and the beautiful grounds will make this my regular go-to hotel when I am in Waikiki. I loved this hotel, I would absolutely book again over and over. I don t need to try any other hotel. I found my Hawaii home.
First when we checked in night time. Bathroom floor was all water. We called desk they didn t even apologize or change room. They fixed next day when we are at beach . They keep double charging make sure check your bill. When we checked out we got final bill. After came home they charge resort fee and they said we forgot the charge it at final bill. What kind of business they doing I don t understand. They are very unprofessional. I really don t recommend . Go to other good name hotel..
Best location, right in the middle of the Waikiki. Staff are friendly and views from high level milani tower is second to none.
Loved sharing a drink out of a pineapple at the mai tai bar.
The most charming and idyllic place I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The building itself is brimming with the level of character only attained by heritage buildings. The grounds are clean and well-maintained and the staff friendly, accommodating and professional. Prior to having stayed here, on trips to Hawaii as a child, I distinctly remember always adoring "The Pink Hotel," largely because I was a little girl and it's a pink castle-like building. But being able to stay there some years later, I can honestly say it was every bit as charming and endearing as I imagined as a girl.
The stay was great! The bedding was very soft and clean. The doors are a bit thin and let lots of sound through, and the hotel is a bit behind on modern standards which are provided in the Sheraton right beside it. You get exclusive seating on the beach, and there are many toiletries included!
The great lady of Waikiki and my favourite hotel in the islands. The entrance through the palm garden affords immediate escape from the 21 st century. Broad verandas encourage lingering and the ambience and decor take you back to the 1930s.
The Mai Tai bar is one the best places to meet new people and the amazing Susan will make you the finest cocktails.
Don t come here for the wifi. Come to sit, look and speak.
A beautiful hotel with a beautiful restaurant and bar right on waikiki beach. Absolutely world class.
Pink is a nice hotel
Historic building
The place was very well presented yet with the service I received I was not so pleased
Located in the center of the city, I think it is one of the representative hotels in Waikiki, with historic buildings, extensive ocean-facing sites and spacious gardens.
Everything is fancy (and expensive), but amazing accommodations and the best beach around.
The location of the hotel is within walking distance to the beach. The rooms are very luxurious with full service. The employees are very welcoming and always there for any assistance. The pool is right next to bar and dining services.
Walked through the hotel to access the beach. Looked a little dated.
The Royal Hawaiian is a nice hotel to stay in, as a tourist. It s housekeeping staff are very courteous, exceeding customers expectations most times. It is a nice place to be. I stayed in the hotel with my wife in September 2016 when we visited Hawaii and we had a very nice time. The staff were also friendly and they were ready to go the extra mile to satisfy clients. It is an heritage tourist hotel. I ll recommend the hotel anytime.
An absolutely beautiful place from the lobby to the grounds, full of a rich history and aura. It has a very authentic Hawaiian vibe to it. The staff were hospitable and give out chocolate coins each night, at least in the room where I stayed. The location and the view was perfect too. Pool options were poor and the Mailani Tower breakfast was basic, like the stuff you see in the two- and three-star chain hotels. The breakfast restaurant is definitely overpriced, but worth trying once for the pink pancakes as those were delicious.
An iconic land mark of Waikiki that brings back the nostalgia of old Hawaii.
The location of the Mai Tai bar was amazing! Drinks were delicious. Service was great. Live music was fun. The whole ambience was the typical Hawaiian tourist experience you would imagine.
While the hotel is old, it is indeed a great hotel. The rooms are great, the spa is fantastic, and the food has been delicious.
My father stayed here during WW2 & made himself a promise to return! In 1971 on his 25th wedding anniversary he did! He took his family and shared the memories of his Pink Palace with us. It was a different time & place in 1971 as I'm sure it was during the war., but the look on my fathers face when he walked through the hotel doors.again was magical. Thank you for keeping the history alive while also bringing in the 21st century.
It was disappointing that it was overlapped with the strike of the employee.
Stayed in the tower and was not disappointed. Great views, nice private deck got a late checkout which was nice as well.
I thought breakfast was a little steep but I guess it s the price for main stage Waikiki... oh well. It is what it is.
Disappointing as strike by staff for better conditions meant for lack of amenities and service. Dont go until strike finished.
Very nice place it has and old almost Hollywood feel about it you feel that this is where you would meet the stars of the 40s, beautiful grounds was truly a treat for us.
Great location next to the beach. Did not stay at the hotel so unable to comment on the service.
Historical hotel but its a little too old for my taste
We had brunch at Azure. The setting. Is beautiful, service was perfect and the food was delicious. I brought my son in a stroller and found it frustrating to navigate all of their ramps (there are tons of places with only a couple of steps). It would be doable but I don't feel this hotel is set up very well for strollers or wheelchairs.
Excellent customer service. We had a great breakfast at the surf lanai,
Fabulous staycation island hop at this iconic hotel. I love the decor and the gorgeous rooms. Extremely classy and sophisticated feel. Breakfast outside on the beach was delicious! Fabulous service
'58 to '61 Dad(CDR)was stationed at "Pearl".When the family got off the boat(Matson Line)we were put up at the Royal Hawaiian. It was the biggest hotel on the beach.
The"King"(Elvis)happened to be staying there at the same time, tried to pick up my 15yo.sister.
Dad took my bro and I out back and threw us into the"Pacific" where"I" learned to swim.
I seem to remember their was a radio station in a Banyan tree across the street.
"Hawaii 50" & "Magnum PI" were "fave's"growing up.
After a week at the "RH"THE fam.was moved to "Barbers Point " to a ranch house right on the beach.(now known as Iroquois Point).
Bro.&I ran out the back door for a swim every day before school.
Our first time in Hawaii we stayed in the perfect place for the perfect first visit! Staff was friendly, food was delicious, beach was beautiful, rooms were cool and comfy. Absolutely no complaints. So close to all the great restaurants and shopping is a short walk away! The grounds were landscaped flawlessly and small details like fruit water at check-in/out did not go unnoticed. We had a beautiful time at this beautiful place.
I had stayed here 3 nights from January 25 to 28. We were visiting with our 4 month old infant and had a very rough stay. From the beginning, it was a very poor experience. Not only did I feel like they were trying to price gouge us, their service was below standard, and they did a poor job of compensating and taking care of problems within their hotel.
As an SPG member, we used our free nights and booked a standard room. At check-in, I asked for a larger room since we had an infant with us. They had a suite available, but they were asking for an additional $200/night. After looking at their prices online, I noticed there was $100/night difference between their standard room and the room they were offering us. When I brought this to their attention, they were then willing to change the price and charge us $100/night instead of the original $200/night.
On our second day there, we received notification that their staff was on strike. I completely support and respect the union workers' rights, but as a result the standards and services of the hotel were greatly diminished. Multiple shops were closed, no one was at the concierge desks, and multiple services were unavailable. However, our hotel charges and extra resort fees were unaffected. The daily resort fees remained the same (unlike the level of service I was paying for!).
We also had an incident where thousands of ants invaded our room. We came back to our room during the day to find our clothes, luggage, and food infested with thousands of ants. This was already very distressing, but life with a 4 month old infant made this experience a thousand times worse. We had to spend a significant amount of money as well as a waste a whole day washing all our clothes. We called the hotel to report the incident, and someone came and took one picture of a table with a few ants. I mentioned that there were thousands of ants crawling in our luggage, but they just looked at it and walked out. They offered to spray the walls with alcohol, but only while we were gone. This took a while as we had to clean and pack enough stuff to take care of an infant for a few hours. We received no notification or communication that anything had been done. We had to reach out and check on the progress before even returning. At check-out, they gave us a $100 total credit for "our troubles". $100 is nothing compared to the cost of staying at this luxury hotel. That doesn't even cover our resort fees (for the non-existent services because of the strike).
Needless to say, this was a terrible establishment with terrible service. The rooms are of poor quality and the management is of poorer service. No manager ever reached out to me. The staff would always have to "go check with their manager" before anything could get done. I would highly recommend staying away from this hotel and their ant-infested rooms. There are tons of other less pricey places to stay on Waikiki with much better service!
Good hotel but the stuff is not very friendly and helpful! As a platinum guest I was expecting better service.
The response of the staff is good overall.
However, the feeling of resort was cut that the correspondence of the Japanese staff of the bakery in the hotel was bad.
As many come to buy, I understand that it is irritating and frustrating well, but it seems to be a part-time job for convenience stores.
I stayed at The Busena Terrace in Okinawa, Imperial Hotel Osaka several times, but the atmosphere is better than that.
As it is old hotel, pool and room may be small, but it may be easy to talk with everybody smiles all day, so you may be immersed in overseas travel feeling, probably because people with plenty of multinationals are staying.
The Royal Hawaii Center is next to the hotel, but there is no noise if it is within the hotel grounds, and no Zorozoros will come to the grounds.
We arrived at the hotel at 10 o'clock and only checked in the carry bag until 3 o'clock. The building is old and rooms are narrow, but access to the beach and shopping is convenient and the view from the room I stayed was the best.
I felt that the water pressure in the shower was weak, probably because of the 17th floor.
I would like to stay at home if there is room in my wallet.
My friend (sharon dehart 81, of Oregon) her dad had an opportunity to buy this hotel back in the 1940s for $15,000
Recently attended a professional event held in the Manoa ballroom. Beautiful venue with amazing views, great food, fantastic service, and an overall gorgeously historic hotel.
Despite the strike, we liked the stay here... two of the restaurants were closed to worker strike during our visit. Beach is beautiful, could be better without all the noise
It is a beautiful pink hotel as the name is also known as Pink Palace.
As it is the center of Waikiki including Royal Hawaiian Center, it is convenient to go anywhere.
The rooms are very good with a retro Hawaiian atmosphere.
Although the hotel is old, it is very close to the beach.
This place is not worth half of what the room rate is. The service at the excutive room checking is 0 stars. Every person spoke to was rude and unhelpful. The executive lounge is a joke! I'd compare it to a terrible airport lounge! For cocktail hour the variety was limited to say the best, and that's when there was food there! The coffee machine was broken with no substitute! No water bottles, if you want water it's from a water jug with a tap which at times was empty. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just tap water also. I'm generous with my 2 stars because the location is good. The pool is very basic and the jacuzzi didn't work! Save your money and go somewhere else. This place seemed to be a trap mainly for Japanese tourists.
The Royal Hawaiian is an awesome luxury hotel on Waikiki Beach and a part of the SPG Luxury Collection
Never trusted the staff and the operations in a whole. They also overcharged for staying and I would never go back to this place again.
Had the best Mai Tai right here, actually the Mai Tai's were invented here... Also it's a really lively place.
Beautiful old school Waikiki resort. Check out the Mai Tai bar - best beach side bar on Waikiki! Had a 5 night redemption stay Jan 2020 - platinum elite - received all the perks, upgraded to ocean view double in the Mailani tower, free breakfast buffet at the surf Lanai (in lieu of points), concierge lounge daily (breakfast and dinner), free birthday cake was delicious.. I could go on. GREAT redemption stay, first class! Staff is excellent! Mahalo!!
One of the first hotels on the island beautifully contrasts with the new skyscrapers SUPER SERVICE despite the strike
This is a beautiful hotel. So relaxing atmosphere. Right on the beach. Gorgeous
They has a lot of great things for most holidays and to take home as gifts. There are multiple types and shops.
It is a famous pink cute hotel!
I sometimes go to eat the morning set.
Is delicious.
Service at the Cheesecake Factory was good but the wait was very long.
We just stayed at the venerable Royal Hawaiian Hotel and found ourselves playing tourist in Waikiki. The rooms we had was in the Garden Wing - spacious with comfortable beds and excellent amenities. We even went to the Wednesday evening luau, something we have not done for years. Excellent show with Diamond Head as a background and we did not have to get on a bus and drive for an hour. The Mai Tai Bar remains the best beachfront watering hole in Waikiki. Love the bell and front desk staff, so helpful and friendly
We love staying here, its beautiful and well kept, inside and out. The only thing that we aren't happy with, is this place and just about all of the motel's are on strike. I spent about a hour doing things that we thought would be done by the motel. We didnt get picked up by people who were going to show us some sites, they didn't show. A young lady named Sunny, helped us make plans for tonite, and this coming Sunday, she was wonderful.
Beautiful front area with rocking chairs, a great lawn, and trade winds breezes.
Pink Elephant? In fact, the car was so blocked that I couldn't see it properly. I'll walk next time ...
Enjoyable, unique building. Stopped by for a drink to experience it first hand.
