This hotel really made our trip. While the hotel was great, it was the little things that really made it for us. My daughter must have received a gift from every staff member by the time we left. Very photographic settings throughout the hotel. The solitary complaint I have is that some of the amenities were difficult to use, access or find. Such as the go-pro checkout desk in another hotel, or this club level that several staff members told me was on a different floor in different buildings, historic wing, the tower, or the Sheraton. I never found it. While that was disappointing, I was hoping to use it for midday snacks, it didn't kill the trip. I highly recommend the hotel, but I'd love to really solve the mystery of this club room.

The Royal Hawaiian was a good hotel. Staff members were friendly, we we're offered a room upgrade and free pastries from their bakery. We we're also offered a free photo shoot that we did not use. My only complaint is the valet. You do not have an option to self park and we spent a fair amount of time in traffic waiting to get up to the valet (also there was the added complication of having the drive through the Sheraton traffic) or in the lobby waiting for our car to be brought out. Also, the Google amenities say that parking is free, which is definitely not true. It was about $40 a day.

Had suite overlooking garden, it was very big as expected. People need to remember this is the original hotel to Hawaii so the historic side will have a layout like the 1940s just fyi. Staff was great.

An important ring was stolen in the room.
I suspected the housekeeper had been stolen and contacted the front desk.
I was about to return, so I asked the Japanese staff for contact information, and I checked it there
The reply was very slow, and the reply I received was "I will contact you if I found it", but I could not find it properly.
It is only housekeeper's work that the ring that was in the room disappears, so it is very disappointing that it may come out if you ask it properly.

If I was sleeping in the room on the day of check-out, the house keeper suddenly entered the room and was surprised. Is it normal to come in immediately before check-out time?
All that is impossible for a luxury hotel.

The mai tai bar has the best mai tais on the island, hands down. You will pay for them, but they are worth it! This colonial style hotel is a treasure and I loved every minute of all my stays there.

Awful place! I have never been to such an awful 5 star hotel. Found bunch of ants in the room. Even on the bed. I requested room change after all but was very annoyed. It wasnt like they were apologetic about the situation. It felt like discrimination. They are soooo kind to Japanese people. But other nationalities i dont know. I will avoid going here from now on. Even yoga classes held at the hotel was done 70% in Japanese. I couldnt tell if i was traveling to Japan or Hawaii.

I was wondering around Waikiki looking at sites, possible restaurants and even the events that were put on for all to enjoy. I was pleasantly surprised by the numerous offerings. You have no need to go anywhere else to keep busy. I wondered what it would be like to stay there but I will not know, at least not on this trip.

We loved our 8 day stay. Wasn't thrilled with historic room with no balcony, so we upgraded the room to the tower. Best decision. Light breakfast and evening appetizer and wine/beer reception. This is where we met some amazing people from all around the world. We'll definitely be back.

This place was AMAZING!! RIGHT ON THE BEACH!! The room was wonderful and the staff was very helpful recommending local places to visit! I loved our trip and staying here was a wonderful choice. The garden was beautiful and it was right within walking distance of so much! It was also very convenient to jump on one of the buses because this was one of the bus stops, unlike many of the other area hotels.

Great service. Upgraded is to a partial ocean view room, which ended up pretty much being ocean view since it looked right out to the beach. You also get use of the pool at the Sheraton Waikiki next door, which is great if you have kids.

Beautiful hotel right on the beach, right in the center of everything! Service was great. Breakfast is awesome. You can use the hotel pool next door as well since the one on the property is very tiny and can get crowded. The gym was small and disappointing. But the property is gorgeous. A little pricey. The rooms can be outdated and the bathrooms in the room are quite small and cramped but overall clean!

We stayed in the Diamond Head Tower on the 12th floor. We upgraded because we wanted a partial ocean view. We were there for 3 nights close to Halloween.

The pros were lighting was good, large TV, view was gorgeous, air conditioning was wonderful, grounds of the resort were beautiful, and the fireworks on that Friday night were outstanding!

The cons were furniture was worn, carpet worn and seam coming apart at the bathroom door, hook behind bathroom door only a stub of metal- the majority of it had broken off, doors sticky, and the drain in the bar sink area was rusty.

The Hawaiian Village is a fun place to stay but I think the room we stayed in needs an upgrade.

I've been staying there for a while. I was very happy to have various benefits such as class up of the room when I stayed many times. Above all, the staff were all friendly, friendly and cozy. Everything, including the beach, is compact, so I didn't have to go out much. It is also a good memory to buy a hat at a traditional hat shop in the building.

Great historic hotel with lots of cool facts and features in an amazing spot right on Waikiki Beach!! Love love love this area. Will definitely come back. Clean rooms. Front desk at check-in (night time) didn't seem to be the most knowledgeable or willing to help, didn't have to interact too much after. Go Pro rental is a huge plus as well as the fact that there are many complimentary activities( Lei making, hula dance lessons, ukulele lessons, Aqua Zumba and others- available on different days) that you can participate in that are held at the Sheraton next door. Also really love the fact that Royal Hawaiian guest can use the pools at the Sheraton. Family-friendly area as well.

The historic Royal Hawaiian Hotel is probably the most palatial and opulent hotel in Waikiki. The structure and rooms have a classic feel to them, yet they are nicely appointed and updated for today's market. Other travelers have pointed out that the bathrooms are a bit small however, and I believe this is a carryover from the olden days. Despite their size, the bathrooms are updated and new.

What I liked about this hotel was the ability to open the window and look a few floors down at the folks walking near the entrance. The room itself was also comfortable and clean.

Finally, I liked the Mai Tai beach bar connected to this property. The staff there is friendly, and it's always nice to grab a drink near the beach.

Old, lovely historic hotel. Staff was friendly and professional. Sound carries and echos so it was often difficult to hear speakers in the main ballroom if there was a lot of conversation in the area adjacent to it. Food was average for hotels in Waikiki.

Nice hotel with friendly staff and nice restaurants on site. The pool and fitness center are small but your room key gives access at the Sheraton next door, which is the Royal Hawaiians sister hotel. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would certainly come back.

I did not stay at the hotel. I visited a gorgeous lobby and the surrounding shopping plaza. The property has lush greenery and tiki torch lighting that creates a nice environment day or night. The ballrooms are nice and come in a variety of sizes.

We had a suite at the top of the hotel and had ants on our room service tray the next morning. Small pool for only adults but they "share" with the hotel next door for a larger, kid friendly pool. Nice but a little worn and expensive for what you get.

Just looking at this hotel will make you happy.

Just looking at this hotel will make you happy.
The pool is small and it doesn't feel like swimming, but I am happy just to be under the pink umbrella.
Location is the best.
The rooms are small but the atmosphere is good.
The elevator is old and I feel a little sick.
I love the lobby and the restaurant

This is our first stay at th Royal Hawaiian and it s been amazing! Our room window looks right out o to Waikiki beach. All of the staff here have been so friendly and helpful, the restaurant has amazing food, and there are a lot of wonderful activities on the guest calendar to participate in! I would highly recommend the lei making class with Anne and the bracelet weaving with Ruby. They had so much interesting information to share about their crafts and were a delight to spend an hour learning from!
