'58 to '61 Dad(CDR)was stationed at "Pearl".When the family got off the boat(Matson Line)we were put up at the Royal Hawaiian. It was the biggest hotel on the beach.
The"King"(Elvis)happened to be staying there at the same time,tried to pick up my 15yo.sister.
Dad took my bro and I out back and threw us into the"Pacific" where"I" learned to swim.
I seem to remember their was a radio station in a Banyan tree across the street.
"Hawaii 50" & "Magnum PI" were "fave's"growing up.
After a week at the "RH"THE fam.was moved to "Barbers Point " to a ranch house right on the beach.(now known as Iroquois Point).
Bro.&I ran out the back door for a swim every day before school.
