Excellent hotel and great location! Love the entrance.
Excellent hotel and great location! Love the entrance.
The restaurant had good service. Food was all enjoyable and tasty.
The Royal Hawaiian is a decent hotel. It's not quite as good as I thought it would be, but Oahu is a weird place, so I guess that makes sense. You don't get much bang for your buck on the island!
My first time staying at the Royal was my birthday. The room was cramped and had no cell service or ocean view. The next trip was a much better room, Diamondhead and ocean views, spotty but ok cell service.
All the employees are so nice. They made this trip what it was. The pools are great, multiple hot tubs, plenty shops, great location, center of Waikiki right on the beach.
I recently attended a wedding reception at the historic Royal Hawaiian hotel. The ballroom was immaculate and the lanai reached out to the ocean. The hotel lobby was very clean as well as the hotel restrooms. The valet service and front desk personnel, were very friendlly and easy to talk to. In addition, the banquet staff were fantastic and helped with all our needs.
The building is old. I was there for one week and I had bought flight and hotel as a package and had paid full for eveything in advace but when I wanted to check out the hotel chareged me 37$ per night as RESORT CHARGE !!!!
Beach crime but good time. The only bad part of the trip was almost getting robbed on the beach. We had rented an umbrella and chairs on the beach. While were in the water someone tried to steal our beach bag. We stopped the thief in action, it was a really old really drunk lady who looks to have lived a challenging life.
The hotel staff let her go since we got our stuff back. So be careful on the beach and get one of those locking beach safe bags. A manager was supposed to talk to us afterwards but that didn't happen.
Now for the good parts- the hotel is beautiful, and the grounds are wonderful. Our room was small but still comfortable. The beds were great, room got cold, and the balcony afforded us an amazing view of the ocean. We were in the new tower and it comes with breakfast and snacks, juice and coffee are available in the lounge area. That saves you a lot since food is really expensive in Honolulu.
The hotel grounds are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. The plants are amazing and there is a floral scent that envelops you. I think it's jasmine, but I'm not sure. Take a lot of pictures.
The beach is busy, but beautiful. Diamond here is always visible, and you get to watch the sunset in the most spectacular fashion.
The customer service was very good and so was the food at azure
The Mai Tai bar is a great place to grab drinks before or after dinner! Highly recommend the truffle fries as a good appetizer!
Amazing place. Heritage hotel. Excellent service. They just want to provide great service to you and don t expect tipping. Something so hard to find in US. This place is the best
Historic hotel in the heart of Waikiki. Stay in the main building if you want the beautiful decor of remodelled rooms, tower bldg for the direct ocean views
The employees were very welcoming and showed great Aloha spirit.
Great waves. Very shallow blue waters. Surfing lessons are great
It was my first time in Hawaii and I stayed here because of my wife's request.
It was a good hotel.
Honestly, there are dissatisfaction in detailed places compared to Japanese hotels, but there are different places in different countries.
Well, the wall is a bit thin (laughs)
I think the knock noise of the next room is my own room (laughs)
Lovely hotel. Visited the Mai Tai bar which is set on the beach. Great cocktails. But when we went back a couple of nights later the service was really bad and so were the cocktails. Disappointing
The food and service were on point for the wedding I attended
Had shave ice at island vintage and walked around. It was good but waiola is better
Great old Hawaiian Hotel ... classic style of old Waikiki
We enjoy The Royal Hawaiian for our honeymoon. Front desk upgraded our room to Mailani Tower Premier Oceanview. Everything is pink in this hotel. You can easy to take some great photos here!
Beautiful hotel. Room was clean and there were enough amenities to keep me busy the week I was there. Room was beachfront on Waikiki. It doesn't get much more scenic than this.
Best surf lessons. Even if you are an average athlete, you'll be standing on the board within 30 minutes!
Royal Hawaiian beach bar, great Maitai, great service
Went in to see the Sunrise crew from Australia getting set up for filming. We were blown away to discover the hidden gems this hotel had to offer. It's a wonderful spot hidden from the hustle and bustle of the main shopping strip
One of our best hotel stays ever. Staff are extremely friendly. There package we had included breakfast and we got to eat some amazing food to start off the day. The property is central to Waikiki sights and is a very relaxing environment.
Try the whole fish at the Azure. You will not be dissapointed. Beach front is amazing, and Diamond Head is so pretty at sunset and sunrise. Highly recommend.
Spurged for one night. Great and classic hotel. $840 a night.
The Royal Hawaiian treated us like queens. They treat all their guests like they are truly special and they want to make your stay memorable.
This place is absolutely beautiful. If you dont stay there, at least walk thru. Hand carved doors on every room.
There are photographs of old nobles and dresses, etc., and you can feel the history, and the location is within 5 minutes walking from the room to the beach. Courtyard feels like a jungle is nice
Beautiful historic hotel right on Waikiki beach. The staff are amazingly professional and helpful, the rooms are great size, and the property is beautiful.
This Place Is Probably The Best Hotel In Oahu, Let Alone Waikiki Beach & I'd Absolutely Reccomend Staying Here.
Though A Bit Pricey The Royal Hawaiian & Fairmont Orchid Were My Favorites Across The Board & I look Forward To Returning To Either.
Great hotel. Great location. Rooms are older and perhaps less appointed than others, but the service and ammenities are outstanding.
Beautiful Resort. Feels like a getaway from the city even though it's in the heart of Waikiki. Historic preservation is on point.
Very nice and good service. Beautiful views, especially of Diamond Head.
A beautiful hotel to stay, super central in Waikiki!
It is a beautiful pink building. If I stay once
I want to go there again.
We have been staying in the Royal Hawaiian for a week now. Our room was not ready for HOURS after we were supposed to check in, housekeeping cleaned our room late each day, loud rooms with hallway noise, and worst of all bad hotel management & rude/ inconsistent staff. You have many other options in Waikiki and at this price point you have better choices (we are gold spg members). Stay elsewhere.
A very cozy and genuine place where you can experience what Hawaiian life might be like. Wonderful service and just a lush and beautiful view from our room. A must stay.
Wow! Ya gotta, at least, walk around and through thos place. I doubt that it rains water here. Most likely, gold. How the other 1% lives!
Stayed here in my last trip. Beautiful, historic, on the beach, very convenient to everything. Would stay again
Very beautiful, historical hotel and very conveniently close to shops and restaurants in Waikiki. Loved the 5 star treatment
I was there for only about 30 minutes, but feel great since it's close to the ocean and the view is fantastic...
We can over here for the Main Tai bar on the beach and loved the ambience and atmostphere. Try the chicken wings!! Best thing on the menu.
Hotel itself is beautiful. The beach is literally outside our hotel. The hotel provides their guest with beach towels which is amazing. Hotel has a small pool about 4ft deep or so, water is warm so it feels nice. The rooms come with a/c, so that's a plus! The hotel provides small travel size shampoo, conditioner, body cream, body wash, a shower cap, face soap and a body /hand soap bar, vanity kit which includes q tips, and a dental kit with toothbrush and toothpaste.. we didnt enjoy the smell of any of the products..therefore, we purchased our own. My complain are these fees after paying and booking for the rooms..once you check in, BAM, slap you with a random fee for 38/day.. ridiculous. We booked our hotel from june 30-5th of july. Well, we had to call for room service to come up because our bedsheets were not made/changed and our towels were not replaced. This happened 3 days, we shouldn't have to come to our room after 4 to see our room not made. Housekeeping are sweet people but someone kept forgetting to do our room.. our other complain is that when we booked our room it showed and said our room came with a microwave....NOT, sike, it does not. Anyways, they told us they would send us a microwave to our room free of charge. That usually its upon request and your pay a fee a night for it.. I was like cool, thank you for waving that fee and accommodating us with the mircowave... well here we are today July 5th. Guess what? We didnt recieve the microwave till july 4th around 11! Well, thanks for the microwave but we check out the next day... would have been nice to recieve it when they called me that day to tell me they would send one up..not the day before we check out..kinda pointless now. overall, the staff is super welcoming and friendly..the place is clean and that's why I rated it 3 stars.. of we didnt have to continuously call for them to clean our rooms, the fees and the microwave issue this place would be rated a 5.!
This hotel is beautiful, an Art Deco building from 1927, with gardens of lush trees and spacious and comfortable rooms. The service is excellent with heated pool and quick access to the beach.
It was the best!
I want to go there again!
Stayed here for two nights during our honeymoon.
Rooms: We upgraded to an ocean facing room. Definitely worth the upgrade as the view was phenomenal, the room comes with lanai, and it grants you access to this exclusive room which serves free breakfast in the morning and free happy hour/snacks in the evening. The room itself was well maintained. Furnishings were nice and modern. Bathrooms have the japan style toilets with the bidet. Only things that I disliked about the room were the water pressure in the shower (extremely weak) and the lack of outlets directly next to the bed.
Service: I read reviews previously that they thought the service was lacking at the hotel and staff seemed not to care. I had the exact opposite experience. I thought every encounter I had with staff was a pleasant one and all seemed eager to help. Plus, the lady at the front desk sent a bottle of champagne up to us on the house to celebrate our honeymoon. It wasn t expensive bottle but small touches like that go a long way.
Amenities: My wife and I spent most of our time outside of the hotel and Waikiki so we didn t really get to experience everything the hotel had to offer. The things we did try, the pool and beach grounds, were a little disappointing. Considering how big the hotel is, the pool and beach front were extremely undersized. The pool and the surrounding chairs were packed before noon and same with the beach chairs. At one point during our stay, we tried to rent boogie boards and were upset to find out that they stopped rentals at 3:30 PM. Overall though the grounds are well maintained and are beautiful.
Parking: I had to make a special note about this. Parking is 50 bucks a night. While I know this due to the limited space available in Waikiki, it just feels excessive to me. I would recommend trying to find a cheaper lot and just drop your bags off at the front at check in.
In summary, if you are looking for a swanky hotel to celebrate a special trip or occasion, I think this is the best hotel to stay on Waikiki. The historic charm gives it an extra over the competition.
I stayed in the historic building twice. Latest stay on 1/3/2020.
Arrived really early -8 a.m. due to flight arrival so we rented chairs for the day which were $40. Come to find out the hotels chairs were $40 and the nicer open to the public chairs -brown ones are $50. You would think this would be the other way around that the location and the quality of the chairs would be better for their guests. I felt that the quality of the chairs and umbrellas for the hotel were extremely poor. The umbrella provided was not optimal to shade anything and we only used it for 2.5 hours due to this. No one came by to ask to see if these needs to be adjusted at all. Sat there for 2 hours before the waitress even came by although we were apparently in the serviceable area of the pink chairs. The brown ones while only $10 more where way better in quality and sun coverage. Really didn t matter that they weren t serviced as my waitress was MIA. I would ve been better off staying off property and renting the brown chairs or just sitting in a free chair at the pool.
Arriving early I was advised there was a room on the 2nd floor to freshen up. This room was packed with teenagers all camped out like they were living there also and extremely dirty. Their belongings were all over the place. Shortly after the same teens decided to camp out on the paid beach chairs that didn t belong to them and were kicked off the chairs by the staff.
Told we could chat via the Bonvoy app to check on the room, never found the functionality. Called at 12:30 and sat on hold for 5 minutes before finding out the room was ready.
While the room was nicely sized and well appointed, the negatives on the room is that the walls are paper thin. I am listening to my hotel neighbors television next door at 4 a.m. as I write this. I am not thrilled with the noise along with the poorly insulated walls and doors you can hear everyone pass by and their conversations and all you can think of.
Water pressure in the showers also not great and pool is extremely small. You can use the pool at the Sheraton next door which is not as convenient.
Mai Tai just perfect, service also fit, but prices too high.
We've stayed here numerous times. We usually stay at either The Moana Surfrider, The Royal Hawaiian or the Halekulani. We like the historical feel to The Royal Hawaiian. Service at all three hotels is good. There was one time a few years ago that we experienced not-so-good service at The Royal Hawaiian, but thankfully, the following times we've stayed here, the service was much better. Still one of our favorite places.
I was just here for a wedding but I was rather impressed with the food.
Beautiful place, incredible view and amenities, very friendly, helpful staff.
The Royal Hawaiian, affectionately known as the pink palace. A truly amazing place that no matter who you are makes you feel VIP. Amazing service and the amenities are top notch. Most Amazing bath robes we stayed in the historic wing of the hotel and it was elegant. Garden view with a lanai the beach front was special. You could walk out for miles it seemed and be no deeper than your waist. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet- primo, but we like the buffet at the St. Regis in princevile Kauai more would definitely stay here every single time I visit Honolulu
And I kind of destination in downtown Waikiki the Royal Hawaiian features several different attributes not found in most hotels on the island including my personal favorite the mai tai bar where you can have a amazing selection of craft cocktails and Island inspired drinks made by tremendously talented bartenders in the heart of Honolulu and Waikiki
My wife and I had a memorable 5 day stay at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. The customer service was excellent, from the moment I checked in, to the time we checked out. The location of the hotel is excellent, on Waikiki but recessed just enough to make the guests feel they are away from the craziness on Kalakua Avenue. The hotel has a special feel to it, historic and grand. I was fortunate to meet the management team, which made my stay even more special. I would recommend the Royal Hawaiian Hotel to anyone who wants a first class experience in Honolulu, without losing the historical feel of a grand hotel.
This place is beautiful. Right on the beach and a classic hotel. Beds are comfy. The continental breakfast is great and gives you a ton of food. Definitely would stay here again.
We stayed in the tower and paid a premium to stay there.. The air conditioner did not work correctly doing off and on every two minutes during most of the night. They said they fix it but no change in the way it worked. The room was a little shabby, the desk chair fell apart and needed to be replaced as well as the shower head that had mold on it. The room was adequate size but very sparsely furnished. We are not going back.
An unfortunate end to our stay with an unhelpful/rude luggage attendant - for a 5 star resort, I would have expected much better customer service.
I might have expected too much, but the service and the quality of the room facilities were not as good as the price.
The view was great. I thought that it was a bit old in the room of the new building, but there was a feeling of cleanliness and the space of the Royal Hawaiian = Pink was wonderful. It is very convenient for children because it is close to where to go.
They treated us wonderfully. Amazing food. Close to so much in Honolulu. An oasis of downtown.
I haven't stayed,
I stopped by because it was nearby.
The beach is right in front of you, and there is a beauty salon so you can see everything.
I would like to stay if I have the opportunity.
I had a great time at a luau. Great food and drinks, and amazing show.
Longing pink palace blue sky and sea blue and pink umbrellas. The view from the window is wonderful and I want to see it all the time!
The breakfast pink pancakes, club omelette and banana bread French toast were also delicious. Oh, the pink beer we had at lunch time prefers a cold one ...
The building is quaint, but my favorite is the garden connected to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.
There are various events, so why don't you stay without staying?
