Is there a way to give lower than a one-star? Simon on their customer care line is absolutely rude and has no customer service skills of note. Our experience at the Laurens Road location in Greenville SC was simple: they have no integrity and take advantage of women. The response when I called to complain and ask for resolution: "Just call 1800PEPBOYS to log a complaint." Really? That's it. PEPBOYS needs an overhaul through their entire company or simply shut down. I'm contacting the BBB.

Their service is deplorable. A simple thing like installing a trailer hitch was beyond them. It was in stock and they called to confirm the installation. They said it would take about an hour. This was important since I was leaving for vacation with the vehicle the next day. An hour before the appointment they called and said I would need to leave the vehicle for a few days until they could get to it. When I objected to that as being unreasonable they said they wouldn't even work on a 1 ton class vehicle and hung up! There competition works on 1 ton vehicles since I just had tires put on. These people should close their doors now and save their customers the aggravation.

Dropped my car off 9am on a sunday for a tire patch. Was told I'd have the car back by three by Kieth. 152 I called for an update and to give the correct number to reach me at 430 was told by heather that they tried to contact me about needing a new tire for my car no missed calls from heather on my end also confirmed that the number was changed to what I gave earlier. Heather confirmed that she had the new number but the old number wasn't changed Called. Back at 530 and was told by Keith that the car was ready and that heather had "called me and let me know" again no missed calls from heather. Showed up at 610. Stores closed but employees are still inside including keith who had just spoken to me previously on the phone. No one even acknowledged that I was trying to pick up my vehicle that was sitting right out front with the doors unlocked. I confirmed as I was looking to see if they left the keys in the car because hey why not doors are already unlocked. I wont set foot in any pep boys location. From here on out. Emergency or not.

I would like to start this off by saying my One star rating does not reflect the rating I would like to give, as this "company" deserves ZERO stars. I purchased tires online and then received double my order at my house, along with 4 additional charges to my credit card. I called customer service 8 times to have a refund to my card and to have the second set of tires picked up from my residence. I was told 4 separate times that a shipping label would be sent to me via email. I received a blank email the first time around and then it took over a month to finally receive the proper shipping label. To make matters worse, the label they issued did not have the capability to schedule an at home pick up. Keep in mind, I still hadn't received my refund for the incorrect order that was charged and sent to me. It has now been almost TWO months and nothing has been corrected and customer service has told me that a credit can not be put back on my credit card and they will have to send me a gift card or check in the mail, which I still have not received and everyone I have spoken to has told me that only the Finance department can resolve this, but they won't let me talk to anyone in that department. The lack of care in the customer service team had be dumbfounded. The company as a whole is inept and I would never recommend anyone shop here. Worst company on Earth.

Pep Boys is a horrible horrible horrible business they quoted me $845 to get my AC fixed. I went to another Pep Boys they want to charge me $680. I just got my AC fixed for $160 your company is a total rip off a total rip off.

I m very unhappy with the services that I received from pep boys in st. Charles il. I took my vehicle here to get serviced and they only made it worse but destroying my vehicle and over charging me. I took my vehicle to another mechanic shop only for them to tell me the same problems and that pep boys did a horrible job. I do not like to waste my time or money so before I began to put in law suit I will take the necessary steps in beginning that process if I do not see a resolution or my problems being handled. I m looking forward to hearing from pep boys ASAP.

Took 2 different appointments for my car to be misaligned after waiting HOURS each time.The 2nd appointment I showed up for I was waiting for 4 and a half hours. Absolutely INCOMPETENT and charged me for 2 alignments ($180 total) because they couldn't figure out how to align my car. The real kicker is....I almost CRASHED my car driving home because of how bad it was swerving when I gave it gas. I have no idea how this place is still in business and hasn't had a LAWSUIT yet.

It's very clear all they care about is STEALING your MONEY and getting you as quickly out the door as possible with no regards to your SAFETY. They pay their mechanics flat rate so they make more money the quicker they push you through the door so this all makes sense.

The parts you sell are so cheap quality made it's not even funny hope cheap they are and that's with every part no wonder people cars only work for half a week or a few days after there supposbley fixed , issue I have is I have replaced my window regulator twice and the two times I have got the regulator it has broke and does not even last me 3 months . I bought a serpentine belt that couldn't hold up and snapped on me. It's taking me a lot of time to fix stuff that shouldn't be worked on in such a little amount of time after it has already been fixed I have a very busy schedule to be dealing with your cheap ass parts but going to keep warranty them out every single time since I have the lifetime warranty , now I'm risking my car getting stolen because my window won't go up!!!!!! I used you today for the first time and the website didn't pull info over to the store and the confirmation has a store # and not the address. I doubled checked the find a store and found the store I wanted to use and the store # is not located on the find a store beside the address so you know which one you are going to. When my car was done they said they text me and I called and they number was incorrect so I didn't know my car was ready. I called 1-800 number and the first person answer transferred me to someone else and they didn't fell them in so I had to tell the story again.

It is sad that y'all allow customers to be treated like this and allow management to basically rob their customers. I ordered 2 important parts for my car through their web site and needed to put them on at the same time I paid for them and they told me they would be in the store the next day. I received an email the next day telling me my parts were at my store and ready to be picked up I arrived at the store just before closing. When they looked up my parts from the order # I gave them the one guy who helped me first admitted he didn t know what they were another guy came and got my one part from the shelf but said I had to order the other part I told him I already did online and received an email saying they were ready. He than told me that the corporate office sends out the emails but doesn t know what inventory each store has. So what is the point of ordering them online. I had to cancel my mechanic until the part comes in hoping he will still be available than not to mention I now have to arrange and pay for another ride to your store when the part is available. I took my car into one of your Pep Boys location for a routine service (2160 N Alma School Rd, Chandler Arizona 85224). What was supposed to be a routine oil change ended up turning into a nightmare and I hold Pep Boys 100% responsible. My service manager at the store was Daniel Peclet and the mechanic that worked on my car was Richard R.

I dropped my car off at 11:25:17. I picked up my vehicle at 4:35 pm and upon entering my vehicle I noticed that there was a crack on my windshield that was longer than a foot. I immediately exited my vehicle and went into the store to let the store manager aware of the issue. The store manager claimed to have checked the cameras and said that they could not be held responsible for this issue. Upon further investigation of my issue I also found that the front and rear driver side wheels do not have my Toyota Prius hubcaps. I have taken my Toyota Prius to Pep Boys since I purchased my vehicle and I am sure you will find the entire history of my car in your records. I need Pep Boys to immediately rectify the situation. The pandemic is no excuse for any of your employees to take advantage of their customers. I am a hardworking individual and I refuse to be given this treatment by a company that I have been extremely loyal to.

Pep boys is responsible for ruining my engine on my Camaro! I have been getting my expensive synthetic oil changes done at Pep boys on I-45 North, Spring TX for years and less than 3 months after my last oil change my engine suddenly starts knocking! I checked my oil and had to add 4 quarts to it! My car only holds 5 quarts, 6 with oil change, my car never used oil and doesn't have any leaks! So that means Pep boys did not add enough oil when they did my oil change. My car only had 94,000 miles on it so it should have never started knocking. Took out the oil filter and it was old and very black which means it was never changed in all the $65 oil changes over all those years since I had been getting my oil changes. Now Its going to cost $3,500 to $4,500 to rebuild or replace my ruined engine! Pepboys you are sorry! I trusted you! I expect you to pay for this!!! This should have never happened! I've had to lease a car to be able to get to work and home since this happened.

Giving Pep Boys a One Star Rating is way too good. I would give them a negative rating. The Highest negative rating that I could give them. I purchased 4 new Michelin LTX tires. Within 48 hours I got a flat tire. When I brought the tire back I was informed that the tire could not be fixed Then they checked on the computer and was told the tire was out of stock and they would have to reorder it. They could have it here Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. They would call me when it came in. Never received a call. I call them on Wednesday and they told me Hopefully Thursday. Still nothing. Called Them again on Thursday and was told maybe Friday and they would call me. Again never heard anything. Saturday I called another store and the gentleman that I talked to told me that this particular brand had been discontinued and there was none available in the entire State. I was never informed of this as I should have been when I first came into Pep Boys on Saturday to purchase the tires. Apparently there philosophy is to make a sale and the hell with customer satisfaction. NEVER EVER will I do business again with Pep Boys

I got to Santee, California, from North Dakota and needed my front brakes replaced. I was just going to have them checked. I would do them on my own but just moved here and wasn't set up to do it. I took my car to Pep Boys because I felt being a national franchise would be a safer and more trustworthy place to take it. Boy was I wrong! They gave me a quote of around $1600 because they had to supposedly replace everything including the calipers and when I told them I decided not to do it there, they would not even release my car. I'm now stuck here without a car and having to rent one because I'm here for school and have no friends or family in the area. I would have had to actually hire a tow truck to move it to a different location. After I did threaten to take it to another place, they somehow figured out that my calipers (over $800 for them) were not bad and I located rotors at a parts store that saved me another $100 that they said they would let me bring in and they would install. The parts I replaced with were comparable or better to what they were going to install. I still paid over $500 with my parts included and now, 6000 miles later, they are already bad making metal against metal noise. They said I could bring it back but they wouldn't cover labor because I am 30 miles over and since we brought other parts in, they need to check those parts. At this point I don't trust them and if I did take it back, I'm fairly safe to assume that they would find reasons not to warranty and they will charge me big bucks again and who knows if they would even release my car. I have since replaced my rear brakes and I think I paid $64 for them and they are lifetime warranty. It took me about an hour to do this. This is the worst place I have EVER dealt with. I believe they saw that I was from out of state and they took huge advantage of the situation. I would never go back to any Pep Boys and will tell all my friends to avoid it at all costs.

Pep Boys charged me $2000.00 dollars to fix my Ford F150 and when I was dropped off to pick it up , it made it 15 minutes down the road and was doing the exact same thing I brought it in to fix. I live 8hrs away and had to wait at a closeby Walmart until 2am for my girlfriend to get me from Alabama and take me back to Florida.They give me the runaround of we are looking into it. Called pep boys on dysart road in avondale arizona at 11:30am asked if they have that sized tire said have 4 different brand told them care is jacked up in garage i need to do this today being that i need to travel tomorrow morning and will be away for 5 days and my wife needs the garage for her car. They said no problem we have 4 tires in stock so i brought in the tire and said they will call me when it is ready. Over 3 hours later 3:00pm i get a call that they do not have the tire. Said they can put a different sized tire on the car. They left me no choice it is now to late in the day to find another place for the tire. I don t even know what to say hear about this whole experience.

In August of 2017 my car would not accelerate. Long story short I needed transmission work. I was told I got a new transmission. 24 hours later after picking my car up, my car would not accelerate again. Paid estimated amount of 3,000.00. Then I paid almost 60.00 to have my car towed back to the original Pep Boys that did the work. They sent the transmission out and got my car back in a couple of days. Dec 4th, I was getting off the freeway and again my car would not accelerate. I paid 111.00 to tow my car back to the original Pep Boys. Keep in mind I keep paying for towing as I was told both times, they would only tow to the closest Pep Boys. I wanted to hold the location accountable to their work. In my many conversations with Brian at Pep Boys in Orlando, I said many times, "my fear is bring stranded at night". They told me the ball joints were really bad and needed to be replaced. They told me they were so bad, my 2 front tires had to be replaced. I asked why the car would not accelerate as it seemed to me it was the transmission. I was told, that when the ball joints are bad, it can cause me to have a wreck and my car has a safety valve which will keep my car from moving. I accepted this as the truth. Later, I found out through Chevrolet Dealership, IT WAS A LIE!
1400.00 later I am told my car is ready from the ball joint repair. On December 6th close to closing time, I picked up my car. 2 - 3 miles down the road, my car will not accelerate again. I call Pep Boys. I am frantic, as it is dark outside and my car will not go. They asked me if I could turn around and bring it back. Really? It won't go! He knew I was leaving town early the next morning. He told me to have it towed in when I get back. They did not offer to come get my car, pick me up and take me home....NOTHING! 2 strangers got out of their 2 cars and pushed my car to safety. When I returned from my trip on Dec. 10th, I towed my car back to Pep Boys. Now I am told it is the transmission. I called a mechanic that works on Chevrolet and I called the Chevrolet Dealership. My car does NOT have a safety valve on it to keep it from driving with bad ball joints. It was a lie! I reviewed the paperwork that they gave me for the bill of the ball joints. In the comments, they only mention low oil and coolant. If in fact the ball joints were bad, wouldn't it be mentioned in the comments? I am requesting a refund of that entire bill of 1401.81. I am furious that I was lied to. 2 mechanics told me it was impossible that my car would stop on its own, and the symptoms my car had of no acceleration is not ball joints. Beware! Moving forward I will only go to a Dealership. I will not let this go. I want to be made whole!

Update: I just wrote a bad review on my experience with Pep Boys. They thanked me for a Great Review! This is amazing. Now I know they don't even read what is written. Too sad!

Update 2 months later - I knew they would contact me and apologize. They didn't! Not even for leaving me stranded at night after I just left their establishment 5 minutes earlier. I am female, 4'11 and weigh 95 pounds. 5 minutes, if that, car shut down. I called them for help. None came!

Employees do not know what they offer and do not know about cars. They will trick you and offer services that they can not perform and charge you high amounts for services that they dis not perform. The store he went to in oxford valley, pa would not accept his coupon , instead they argued with him over it and had terrible customer service experience there. I received a simple oil change in Delaware and the tech that worked on my car did not replace the drain plug the proper way. My parents live in Cambridge Md and i travel back and forth often. On this specific trip my engine decided to seize up due to the lack of oil in my engine. I was stuck in Cambridge and no way of getting home, I had to have my best Friend drive to pick me up. when my parents mechanic in Cambridge diagnosed the truck and informed me I needed a new engine I was shocked due to the fact my motor only had 70K miles on it and was maintained regularly, with no prior issues. I was told by the manager at the pep boys on kirkwood hwy in Wilmington de, that if i would like my car fixed by them they would have to get the car in their possession which seems ridiculous because they cant manage an oil change let alone the thought of replacing my motor. The Mechanic is preparing me a letter with everything that he has found and Diagnosis, he is also taking many pictures. Im a hard working guy. I save my money and i bust my ass. i don't like being played with and not having my many phone calls returned. my next step is going to the news and getting a lawyer, a simple task like an oil change should have been done properly and there is no reason for me to have to replace a motor in my truck. My 2012 Nissan Xterra quit running in the middle of I95S in Palm Beach, FL on Sunday around 5 p.m. There weren't a lot of options where to tow it and we had to be at my son's college orientation early Monday morning. Took it to Pep Boys at 3189 Northlake Blvd and they determined it needed an alternator/battery but we had to leave it. The manager showed me an estimate for $700 which was with military discount which I thought was high but I was desperate to get back on the road. The got us a Lfyt ride to get a rental. Today, we went to pick it up and the same guy said my bill was $990 which again included military discount. I complained and he knocked it down to $880.42 and said the estimate he showed me was only for the alternator. I had no choice but to pay it to get my vehicle. This is RIDICULOUS! Horrible customer service!

I had another mechanic look at it and they told me i was screwed over. Now i have to pay out of pocket again for a service I paid for 2 times, all I was told was to bring it in and they would fix it no One knows what the Corporate number is or can provide any help in the situation. Did not listen to anything I said. She asked for my name after I finally got through to the woman I was speaking to and I asked to stay anonymous so that the person I knew who works at pep boys wouldn t get in trouble. Honestly doesn't deserve any. But I went in on March 6 to get back lights switched. I brought up the lights that wanted switch to find out they didn't do it at all. Went into the store the shop manager was extremely rude wanted to be right and when I asked to speak to someone higher then him he said that he is that he is the highest and I can't talk to anyone. I asked for his name and a number and he said no. The shop is a joke. I got a refund but not after hearing the the shop manager belittle my knowledge on my car and what lights were out. We waited for over an hour and when the mechanic still had not arrived, we chose to take our business elsewhere. First of all, if your employees are going to arrive that late, they should be fired. But if you insist on employing such irresponsible people, you shouldn t lie to your customers. been trying to order a online part sin March. Was sent the wrong part first, had to drive over 100 miles to return it. Second time, they said that I had to pick up the part in store. Closes store was over 50 miles from my home, drove their and it was wrong again. As a disabled person this wasn't easy. I took my 2015 Chrysler for routine synthetic oil change and tire rotation and now my front tire is rubbing, smoking and making knocking noises. When i picked up my vehicle from Pep boys in Bear, Delaware I noticed this and imediately brought the car back but nothing happened and the knocking is worse. Now i might have to get an attorny if this issue isn't fixed. I will contact corporate tomorrow first to see if we can resolve this issue. My son took his care in to be looked at on a Sunday. They checked it and determined it needed CV Joints or Axles. Warranty company was closed so they would call them the next day. My son checked back with them and was told everything was good to go and he paid his 100 deductible. From then he was given the run around for days saying the mechanic was not in and we will call you back but never did. After having the car 5 days, I reached out and got the same response. The employees went as far as leaving on my hold for 20 mins and then when I called back stating they could not hear me. I was finally able to get through to the manager and he gave me the spill of different people was handling it, they were on the phone with the warranty, etc. I had to demand my car be fixed by the end of the day. When we went to pick the car up, the car would not start and service was horrible. We had to tell them the car did not come in like this and need to be returned to original state. They so call replaced a battery. I will never ever go there again or recommend them. Service is horrible.

I had a very unpleasant experience here. I drove from Dublin, CA in stop and go traffic because they advertised on their website to change my oil with a free tire rotation. They did not show any information about tire tread requirements. They also took off my tires to check my break pads because the light sensor was on in my car. The woman who charged me for the oil change (Which cost more than my regular oil changer, which shows that Pep boys DOES NOT do everything for less) said that there were other issues with my car so she showed me the price estimating about $1,300 . I told her my father was good with cars so he would fix it instead. She then went to tell the repair men to stop working on the car. I asked her why she had them fix my car without my permission and even having the audacity to take apart my car without my consent hence the fact that I went the for only two things. 1. An oil change and 2. A free tire rotation. All together I waited about 3 hours just so they could change my oil and put my tires back on. I am never going there again and I hope the rest of you don't as well!!!

That part cost $12 -$22 at most (Google it ) they wanted to charge me a total of $369 for that part and the belt .. I decided to pay for the belt only ( which they charged me $169.67) . When I decided to leave . I saw my car up in the air on the rack .. Long story short they tore up my crankshaft pulley and didn't even put my panel on the underside of my car correctly . Later that day my mother and son drove pasted and noticed his car out of the bay, thinking it was done they stopped and were told that his car was moved because one of the techs. had a friend that needed something done really quick. PLUS, they were paid to replace a blower motor, days later.... I look in his trunk and OUR part was still in there BRAND new...never put on the car. It was still making the same ticking noise it was when we took it in. BUT WE WERE STILL CHARGED for it. NEVER USING THEM AGAIN..it should be illegal to charge for something you didn't do...ohhh wait it is illegal...

Which they both misdiagnosed my vehicle which I found out after I paid over $1,500. The customer service is horrible. They show no empathy and it s very distasteful. My 2010 Chrysler Sebring keep on dying while I d be driving the vehicle, completely cut off while the radio light and ignition light were still on they thought that the issue was to replace 4 coils, 4 sparks plugs and 2 sensors and they over charged me $834 which I told them firestone quoted me a lesser amount $300. The issue was NOT fixed and it s still dying they literally rob me out my money, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! They are scammers, the girl who assisted me the day before literally told me diagnostic fee will be waived as long you fix it in the shop but the next day on the phone he tried to secretely add the fee on there. I thought firestone was robin me, but these guys at pep boys are literally some thieves who are hungry for your money but not willing to fix the issue. You will hear from me soon

A car was parked in front of the next bay and Louie, the general manager of the bays was working on it, 5 feet from me. After I said excuse me sir 4 times he finally acknowledged me and said it would be a moment. No problem . After he finished tinkering with the other car he walked away and made a phone call completely ignoring me. After 8 minutes I began driving off and asked Rudy the name of the rude worker and Rudy was very gracious and checked my tires. I will NEVER shop at this store even though they are less than 1/2 a mile from my home. I would give it zero stars if I could because this isn't the first time he has been so rude.

What's the point of an appointment if they never are on time. Last year I took my car to the WC location for an oil change and I was in and out in no time. Silence then... "I'm sorry sir we will get it back now and it will be ready in 35 min." Still calm like I always am I say ok. My fiance picks me up at 5 of course she's pissed because we have concerts tonight and cant pick it up by closing. So she said I'll drop you off and meet you at the school. We get there the car is parked yay they got it done hmmm its still in the same spot I parked it! I go in of course had to wait 10 min just for someone to ask if they could help me. " I called not that long ago about my car. She had a look on her face like oh sh** . " I'm so sorry sir it's been busy." The tech came over and said he's been stuck on one car all day. Are you kidding me!!! "We can reschedule you." No thanks! Took my key and left. It was there overnight they never called to say they were busy and hadn't gotten to it yet..they dont answer their phone and they lied to me several times. I called the store and got the number to the service manager and of course he's not returning my call. I'm done never again. No excuse for this.

I would like to begin with stating I am not complaining about any employee but strictly the services and policies of Pep Boys as a whole. I purchased a set of tires AND a warranty in July 2018, it's now February 2019 and I had a blowout on the freeway. I thought, no problem, my tire purchase came with free roadside assistance and with the warranty, I should be back on the road later on today at no additional cost. Boy was that an incorrect assumption. After being towed to the nearest Pep Boys location, I was told that my tire was not in stock and the nearest location that had the tire was in Nashville, TN, which would take 3-4 business days to ship (even though Kuhmo Tire's warehouse is located right here in GA) or they could have the store in Buford (18 miles away) deliver a similar tire by Goodyear the next day. With this option, I was offered to leave my vehicle overnight. I simply requested that the spare donut tire be installed, it was and I was on my way. The next day, I decided to go to the Buford location (8 miles from where I live), in hopes of having the correct replacement tire shipped to this store instead. I am now being told since they do not ship tires, I would need to pay for the shipping, installation, labor and prorated amount for the tread used on the 6 month old tire. I went to the website and read the warranty for the tires and nowhere does it stipulate that I am to pay for shipping, installation or labor. My question is, why would I be sold a warranty on tires that are not kept in stock, then told I needed to not only have the tire replaced at a "prorated" amount (which was clearly not the verbiage used at the time of purchase) but also be responsible for the shipping AND wait 4 days?!?! That is the epitome of horrible customer service. I will send corporate an email as instructed in the previous list of unsatisfactory reviews but wanted to possibly warn any other unsuspecting consumers of what can be expected from this "warranty."
