The air quality is very bad. I cam to the Island for two weeks, I already spent three days in the emergency room from 7 days of my arrival. My advice Do not ever try it if you have concerns about your health specifically if you're sensitive to mold.

Stayed there for a week Oct 19th - 26th. The resort was very clean. Rooms were clean and kept clean during our stay. All the food was very good especially the Hibachi grill. Staff was extremely friendly & helpful. Beach was very sandy but was a little rocky in the water but resort cannot help that.

Beautiful resort, service really sucks. The maintenance guy is also the bar tender/chef/dj/taxi driver/door man. No one has a single job description. The waitress clearly hates her job, & the lunch menu consist of either a burger or a salad. If service improved, sugar bay would be amazing.

Went here for a wedding as was very pleased with my stay. The staff was very friendly yhe best part was the kids club.My son had so much fun that he didn't want to stay with me, the counselor there was so concerned, informative and caring when it came to my son. The pool was great the food was ok, mainy ate from the grill by the pool. The birds trying to steal your food annoying but it was funny trying to run from them. They greet you with open arms and fresh cookies. I can't wait to return

We just got back from a 7 day trip in St Thomas. We stayed at this hotel and had the worst customer service. Feb 13- Feb 20. As we pulled up they stood around talking and no one took our bags we did it ourselves. The front desk was kind of snooty and no one ever smiled. They put my wrist band on too loose and when I went to the front desk to get another one they said it would cost me $85. (These are your room keys). I had only been there about 15 mins when they put it on and it is a typical plastic club band. We had ordered champagne to be in our room when we arrived. (It is all inclusive) it never arrived. We were celebrating Valentines and my boyfriend birthday. Our room was nice and clean. As soon as we got to our room the A/C wasn't working and the smoke detector was going off. We addressed it immediately with front desk and left the room for a few hours came back that evening and it still was not fixed. We called and asked for service again and waters, diet coke and rum for our frig. They brought 2 bottles when we asked for 6. They told us we had to call food and beverage, we did no one very brought them. It took 3 days to get water for our frig. Restaurant was a complete joke. Every night we went to dinner there was a huge wait, food was over cooked, cold, horrible service and we had to go to bar to get a drink. Prime rib night, we were the 2nd people to be sat down so we knew we could get a hot meal and not be out of food, WRONG! Other tables got food before us. We waited over and hour for our steaks, our salads came AFTER desert and when we went to management they apologized and said they sent our food to another table. We asked for a bottle of champagne to our table and the waiter would only bring us a glass. After my boyfriend raised hell we got a bottle and when it came to dessert I asked for the ice cream and they said they were out but another waiter walked by with it 10 mins later for another table. They brought us out stale desert that was wedding cake from the night before. Breakfast is always the exact same buffet, Lots of carbs, fat and greasy foods. When we ordered egg whites omelets we get attitude and they toss a ton of oil and butter on it after we specify no oil butter or cheese. Coffee at the cafe ($4) is not included in your all-inclusive and it was cold and the same coffee you get in the restaurant. (Really!!!) ALCOHOL- wow this one was a hard pill to swallow for us. This is all inclusive, top shelf vodka (Absolute, Titos or Grey Goose) you have to pay for but crap is free. We tried for 7 days to get Vodka and Rum in our frig so we could have drinks in our room or to take to beaches with us, It NEVER happened. We sat on our beach one day, all day; NEVER did a waitress come over and ask for drinks. We had to walk into the bar all day. We asked to fill plastic bottle water with rum and vodka so we could have it in our room. You have to stand there and order 10 shots of each to fill the bottle yourself. They can't do that. THEN GIVE US A BOTTLE for Petes sake. We had 1 bartender that smiled every day. Anissa I think it is how it was spelled. She wore beautiful purple lipstick and always smiled was friendly and very accommodating. She is the ONLY person in this entire hotel that was friendly, helpful and accommodating. She was amazing. For my boyfriend birthday (Feb 19) and ordered a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberry s to be in our room at 4:30. This was not free I had to pay almost $100 for. It never came... I personally went to the front desk and ordered it and they wrote it down in front of me and I read it with a note to say Happy Birthday sweetheart. NEVER got it. Next day did it again, never got it. We asked for a wake-up call one morning since we were going on an excursion at 5:30 am. They called at 6:34 am. Thank god we had our own alarms. We met a few people at dinner in Shima and they were all having the same horrible experience. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY THIS WAS THE WORST HOTEL, FOOD, SERVICE EVER AND THE STAFF HATES THEIR JOBS AND TAKES IT OUT ON YOU.

This place is a shame. It has the location, equipment/facilities, and size to be incredible, but falls short almost every time. The oceanfront rooms are amazing with million dollar views. The pool and recreation area are located in a relaxed "valley" that has a great natural breeze. Seeing iguanas and chickens wandering along the edges gives you the feeling of being away from home.

The problem is the attention to detail or lack of it. Breakfast is always a buffet, which is fine, but the same exact thing every day. Ok for a motel, not ok for a resort. Lunch was good at the grill by the pool, especially if you like hotdogs and burgers. There's also a buffet and it's mostly the same food day in and out. Dinner was most frustrating because there are three "choices" of restaurants. It sounds good until you realize your choices are Italian, hibachi, and (you guessed it) buffet. On certain nights only two of the three are open. I like Italian and buffet, but a resort in the Carribean should offer at least fresh, local cuisine once a day. At no point during our stay was that the case.

Trying to use the gear and equipment provided in our package was a real treat too. The resort stressed the use of their beach towels, but ran out the first day we were there, and no one seemed to know or care when more towels would arrive. The snorkel hut was "closed" even though the sign said it was open, and we finally realized the girl running it was hanging out at one of the bars. We noticed this happened every day of our stay. The lady in charge of the kayaks and paddle boards also seemed to more interested in getting guests to get off the equipment so she could close up shop (like 2:30-3:00) and go get her drink on.

Some of the staff seemed very cold toward guests and annoyed if they were asked a question. Others were extremely pleasant and helpful. We didn't see any management who wanted to check in with the guests to see how they were doing. Very disorganized. Certain facilities (spa and exercise room) were hard to locate with few signs, and other facilities (bumper boats, mini-golf) didn't look like they were used or maintained at all.

We had a great time on our vacation, but it was because we chose to, not necessarily because of this resort. We have been in St. Thomas before and have had much better experiences at other resorts. Overall, be cautious if planning to go here.

Service was FANTASTIC. We were upgraded to ocean-view room on our 3rd night there due to some issues with the water pressure in our first room. But even if I was left in the bay view room, I would still give this place 5 stars! Most of the staff are friendly and very helpful with any questions. The resort is clean and the food was quite enjoyable. I felt like I was dining in a 5-star restaurant every dinner meal. I also really enjoyed the daily activities they provided such as karaoke, newly-wed game, bingo, volleyball, etc. And with each game, they gave prizes! And another huge plus was that the kitchen was ALWAYS open pretty much from sun up to really early in the morning 1-2am, so you can always find something to eat or snack on.

I would definitely stay there again!

This resort is not good. Well let me start off with the electricity crisis. The whole island has electricity and this was the only resort that had power cuts. Some people were stuck in elevators for an hour. Later talking to the cab driver, he said that this is very common in sugar bay. The phones do not work. If I have to call front desk, then I have to use my cell phone and search out their number and then they pick up. Their extensions also does not work. Their site also does not work. My friend wanted to cancel his booking. They asked them to click on a link on their website and the link was broken. It took them 3 hours to talk to the reservation office.

If I had an option of giving this resort half a star, I would gladly do it.

Sugar Bay Resort is a beautiful place to stay on the island. They have everything you need for a tropical vacation and I strongly suggest that you buy the all inclusive package and chose an ocean view room. It's so worth the money and some. My favorite things were the pool bar, the view of the sun rise and all the wildlife. You will have a blast if you remember to smile, treat people with respect and tip often.

Holly SlaybackDreams Sugar Bay St. Thomas
I stayed here for five day in May 2015. The sites were beautiful but the hotel was not even close to a five star resort. Not a single ice machine in the hotel worked. The spa had no one on staff to braid my hair during my entire stay. Their web page states all inclusive and I order the anniversary package three months in advance and did not receive anything I was promised. I had to go to KMart to purchase beer, soda and liquor for my room and still could not get ice at the hotel without an issue.

Rachel Torres Shame..Shame..Shame on you Dreams Sugar!!! You should refund them their money!!! It takes 1 person for 35 new clients. Times that by 35 per each one. Now you have social media involved. Everyone will share & know about you & your lack of services. This is THEFT! You are in breech of contract for failure to provide services ordered & paid for. This is goods sold and not delivered. I will be posting this on every social media site possible. Make good on this & give these people something since you lacked doing anything while they were still there.

Do not go to sugar bay resort and spa, it's all inclusive if you pay for that. Even though it's all inclusive you have to pay half price for sushi. They run out of food and have Sand bugs that bite you up, they are not regularly treating the area for The bug infestation, when you leave is going to look like you had the chickenpox that's how Bad they bite you. I have never in my lifetime seen roaches At a resort in the areas were you (buffet and other eateries) eat. The rooms look nice but the bathrooms were dirty, I should of took pictures. They had rusted & hard water stains, you could see green all around the shower head for 300 plus a night. The view to the ocean is beautiful. They had cats which is not a problem but it you have a bug and flea infestation biting up the guest really bad WHY would you have cats and Chickens running around. THIS PLACE NEED TO BE CLOSED DOWN AND CLEANED and spray for the insects. It is not a lot of activities onsite. DONT HVE YOUR WEDDING HERE Because they escort you on a golf cart talking about its a shutter and cover it with a sheet but I still manged to get oil on the bottom of my dress. You spend thousands of dollars and they have a golf cart to escort you for your wedding. A lot of the workers are not friendly and the rooms had different stuff, like I wanted sun block with the lotion like my friend had in her room and I ask the housekeeper and she said she didn't have any but clearly she had some on her cart. I would never go back and I'm fighting for my money for my dress.

All positive besides the room service...I would be able to give it a 5 star rating but twice during a less than 1 week stay we did not receive any towels after room service visited...to make matters worse we called in the issue and were told we would be provided with towels...BOTH TIMES NO TOWELS WERE SENT. Beautiful setting with friendly staff otherwise.

No idea on the resort but I guess it was so terrible we cancelled 150 guests that were supposed to stay there mid March 2016. The meeting team decided with a day notice we would not be attending. Had to make other plans.

My wife and I are not sure why Sugar Bay has such bad reviews. We both feel it's a solid 4 Stars.
We stayed there for a week celebrating our anniversary. We stayed in a Preferred Club Deluxe Ocean View Room. The room had a fantastic view. We enjoyed great sunrises every morning from our balcony. The room itself was very nice and comfortable. The cons of the room I see in other reviews. The door to the bathroom is a slatted door so it is less than private. The air conditioning is "adequate." We did have to leave it on high with the thermostat turned all the way down. I believe they are using water instead of freon in their air conditioners. They are not as efficient but there is no loud noisy compressor outside. When you are on the balcony all you hear is the ocean. A little "give and take" there.
We found the majority of staff members to be fantastic. There were a few bad apples but they were counted by exceptional staff members. The exceptional staff members really set the tone for the resort. If you are lucky enough to meet Prissy at the pool, latch on to her. She will always make sure you are happy and your needs are taken care of. She is so great, I felt the need to go out of my way to make sure the Resort manager knows just what kind of employee he has. Overall I'd give the staff an 8 out of 10. The bad aren't that bad and the great are really great.
They have a wonderful pool area at Sugar Bay. The pool itself was clean and a good temperature. The swim up bar is very convenient and the bar tenders are very friendly. The restaurants around the pool are very good and also very convenient. There were activities at the pool during the day such as bingo. At night the had parties at the pool that were a lot of fun.
The beach could be improved. It's not very big and it is a little rocky. They do offer snorkeling gear and kayaks at no extra charge. They have scuba activities that are an extra charge.
The resort has a number of restaurants. We found them all to be very good and the servers to be very pleasant as well. The restaurants in the main building have great views of the oceans.
The room service needs improvement too. There menu is split up into times that you can only order certain foods. It seems to me, if the kitchen is open you should be able to order anything on the menu. If I want a burger at 2:00pm I should be able to get it, not have to wait till 10:30pm to order it. It also takes a very long time to get your food. My wife unfortunately became ill one night and she wanted some ginger ale and chicken soup. I was told they were out of ginger ale, which surprised me. I told them sprite instead. They said to allow them 45 minutes to deliver to our room. After an hour and half room service finally came with cold soup and no sprite. I had to call back and ask for the sprite again. It took another 15 minutes to get the sprite. I talked to other guests that had similar complaints about room service. I talked to the manager about this and he was very apologetic. He seemed to take my complaints very seriously and didn't blow me off. He assured me they would be taking steps to improve the room service.
I'd also like to comment the general appearance of the resort. The exterior of the building needs work. There are a lot of cracks and even some missing pieces of walls. I understand Dreams has only owned this resort since November 2014. They have a lot of repairs and remodeling to do. I watched for a week the repairs they were doing to a balcony that was falling apart in the building next to us. I watched as they removed all the old rotten wood and replaced it all with aluminum beams. I was glad to see they were not just putting a bandaid on the problem and were actually improving the structure.
I feel this resort is exactly what you pay for. We felt that for the money we paid, we were very happy. Overall it was a great experience. We would come back again and would recommend to a friend. I might suggest waiting a few months for the improvement to be completed.

This resort was amazing. The level of customer service is off the charts. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. The grounds are impeccable. The pool is totally magical. I highly recommend this resort.

Dreams Resort on St. Thomas, was by far the worst ...

Dreams Resort on St. Thomas, was by far the worst resort my husband and I have ever stayed at!! It was our honeymoon and we decided to purchase the all inclusive package of water activities and meals. The rooms were not throughly cleaned (toilet or showers not well scrubbed, towels and sheets never changed out unless you throw them on the floor and unstrip the bed yourself), the buffet restaurants did not keep their food warm (selection contained plates of different meats, baked vegetables like red and green bell peppers, beans, and more not under warmers. Salad bar was terrible...lettuce, cheese to top and 3 dressings choices...that's it!), most of the veggies you could tell were frozen not fresh, water activities are limited to a few kayaks they keep stashed on their small beach invested with gnats. The beaches should be groomed every night, but are very poorly taken care of. The beach was the size of maybe an "average" backyard and pictures made it look a mile long! Before you count to 10 you will be at the end of their mini stretch. Kayaks are available when the kayak guy is there and others don't already have a kayak. The only other water activity is snorkeling in which you can get the gear only when the rental booth is open. Pools close at 7pm everyday...they are green filled and disgusting! Cigarette butts all over the pool bottom, dead bird and feathers in the pool and they let the iguanas swim in their pools! No fence to keep them out! We didn't even want to put our feet in! Dreams makes it sound like they have an assortment of water acivities...there are none but only the kayaks and snorkel gear available at no charge if you purchase the unlimited package. We never were asked for service on the beach and the package says you won't even have to leave the beach for a drink. Actually, we never noticed any staff out there at all! The poolside bars were never open. Their nightlife activities were limited to either the main bar behind the lobby with a pianist or mini dj or the same by the bar near their pool loction. You can only get a blended drink as well if the bar by the pool is open. All other bars don't have a blender...we couldn't believe it! Their "garden walk," was a dirt patch with some specks of grass and a path around it...it was a joke! My husband was entirely disappointed this is what we paid for on our honeymoon. We did tell management about all the problems and complained about our less then pleasurable stay....they sent us in circles of whom to speak with. Finally the finance manager authorized to let us check out early for a refund of the nights not yet stayed, but we would incur a $300 dollar charge per night for the remaining nights since we checked out early!!! That would of been over the cost of our package so we stuck it out. Some management!! They did "upgrade" us rooms. The room was slightly larger, we some how ended up with a smaller fridge - never restocked, smaller safe box, maids knocked on our door 3 times a day and even when we had our do not disturb sign on, not to mention the new room didn't have a working phone. We complained about it 3 times and finally they determined the line was bad. The lady at the front desk was trying to tell us the phone doesn't have a dial tone...what?!?!! Never heard of that! Needless to say, we couldn't even order room service unless we walked to the front desk from our room...completely defeats the purpose! So, there goes our unlimited rooms service portion of our all inclusive package. Then to top it off, when we checked out, the front desk tried to charge us for a 10 minute call to California...HA!! We never had a working phone and then you want to charge us?! We couldn't make or receive any calls without a working line. Repairs were also going on during our stay....we woke up to extremely loud drilling noises in the morning. My husband and I had to yell loudly to hear each other in the same room! We stayed at the resort this past August 2015. We never dream of going to Dreams Resort again!!!

Arrived to celebrate 11th year Anniversary. Saw property online and looked very nice, recent reviews were very favorable. Arrived and the lobby looked amazing, just like on the website. That's where it ended. They first at the desk put these ridiculous wristbands (as if you were entering a club) which you used to enter your room instead of the regular door cards. You have to akwardly torque you wrist against the wristband reader on the door to gain access. As the bellman escorted us to our room the brick walkway looks as if it hadn't been powerwashed in quite some time. The grounds looked as though they're not maintained regularly. Our room was on the 7th floor as we approached our room there was a swarm of Bee's, not aggressive just a nuisance, there is a sectselections. wall opposite the walkway that's exposed (broken away) where the Bee's are nesting. Walkway full of dead Bee's in the mornings. Shima restaurant was good, so is the breakfast, not impressed with the resorts other dining choices. Getting full compliment of towels daily for the room is a challenge, haven't had two of each since first night (2 washcloths, 2 hand towels, 2 bath towels).
Room was actually descent, staff was very friendly but property has been severely neglected. First resort I've been to where I wanted to spend more time away from the resort than enjoying the amenities. Had no desire to check the Spa selections. I never write reviews but had to. This was too much to overlook.

Celebrating our honeymoon and did some looking around but this all-inclusive definitely took us for its great accommodations(all drinks/meals and late night menu from 10PM-12AM); 80% of the island closes at 5:30PM (downtown) and the other 15% around 12AM. Drinks were great (each bartender has their own...ASK!), but their meals were nicely plated but lacked in flavor. It comes with breakfast, which is the same every day. We got an oceanfront view room, which look freshly remodeled and cleaned daily (attempt not to get sand in your room/taxis...God forbid you go into the ocean and are running late). Beach access was on property ground but have to enter in from of the masseuse area to make it a smooth transition because there is lots of coral/rocks any other place (makes it great for snorkeling so sign out some snorkeling gear with fins). Service was 4 out of 10 when it came to food but 8 out of 10 for "bartender's special". Check out is at 11am but ask for extension on bracelets.

This hotel is worn looking and in need of a major facelift. There are cracks and raised stones in the walking area that is a disaster waiting to happen. In addition, the service was horrendous. Can anyone imagine waiting 50 minutes for a burger? When someone complained, we overheard a server tell another one, " I'm not rushing my brains out for no one". Also, the owners found it fit to give all the snorkling equipment to their friends and family that were staying in a yacht that was moored off the coast by the hotel, in addition to the fact that there were no lifeguards or lifesaving equipment on the premises.
Do yourselves a favor and stay somewhere else.

I was at Sugar Bay Resort 3-31-14 through 4-5-14. I had many concerns while there. First one being no reservation for us when we walked through the front door, don't know if it was the fault of the hotel or Vacations To Go. Lots more concerns as the day went on, then more each day until I decided it was time to get management involved. I finally talked with a gentleman named Michael on 4-3-14 and he explained that he had been brought in to correct all of the problems with the hotel. He promised me that would contact me before check out on that Saturday before 11am. I have much to say, good and bad about my trip but I would like someone to contact me before I say more. I have just calmed down enough to even start to think of writing a post. I am not one that thinks everything should be perfect, but I am one that just spent a lot of money to go on vacation and I can say I didn't enjoy my stay at Sugar Bay all because of the staff. I hope to hear from someone soon.

Where do I begin....let me start by saying I have ...

Where do I begin....let me start by saying I have never stayed at a Dreams Resort, so I did not have any expectations. I traveled with a large group of about 100 people (the largest the hotel has had since opening in December) and it was CLEAR they were not prepared. Upon arriving to the hotel and checking into our room we were not happy. My hotel room had dead bugs and old urine stains on the toilet and the lid. A few of my other travel companions were given keys to rooms that people were already staying in, their personal belongings were everywhere (talk about security issue). In some of the other rooms the AC was not working. We went to the lobby to discuss our concerns with the hotel staff. Needless to say the hotel staff is NOT accommodating at all, they gave us a hard time about switching our rooms. The first person (Natalie) claimed that they were completely booked and didn't have any more rooms. Being an avid traveler, I knew not to take her word for it. I had to speak to 2 more people to get our rooms switched, which is ridiculous for the thousands of dollars we paid. Finally, we were able to check in our rooms.

After addressing this issue, we headed down to the pool area to get some food after a looong day of traveling. NOPE! That wasn't happening b/c the restaurants closes at like 4pm and reopens at 6pm. The cooking staff was rude about it too " NO WE CLOSED", the lady yelled. I went to speak to the manager and he said that they were open. He walked over to see what the problem was...and just as rude as the cooking staff was to us, they were just as rude to him. Telling him "NO WE CLOSED EARLY". All the manager was able to say was that he didn't know they were closing early. This goes for all the restaurants. They all close early, reopen, and close around 10pm. Although the resort is all inclusive, you will have to time your travel and island activities around the restaurants if you plan on eating. Also, they did not restock the rooms with alcohol as they claimed on the website.

The BIGGEST issue came on Sunday, May 24, 2015. After putting a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my room (b/c the maids were leaving the doors open, allowing misquotes to take over my room) the hotel staff saw it fitting to enter my room and place a letter on my bed despite my request. This letter stated "that the hotel will have a power outage between 1:30am and 4:30am to allow for system upgrades to the electric system". WHAT?!?! I was appalled. How can a hotel decide to have a power outage Memorial Weekend, with a booked hotel full of guests? We are in the tropics, its sweltering, and this was going to affect the AC, lights, water...everything. I went to the service desk to inquire why..the only response I got was "Sorry, this is an unavoidable power outage, we have to upgrade the system and we thought that 1:00am - 4:00am would be the best time". I asked him did they take a survey, how did they come to this conclusion? What guest wants to be hot and trying to sleep? Why would management make this decision on a holiday weekend with a booked hotel? More so, why weren't we informed of this at check in on Thursday. We were given notice at 8pm (5 hours before everything was shutting down), I was livid! The hotel staff didn't care at all. They didn't offer to comp our room or even extend our check out time. I told them they should change the resort name to NIGHTMARES! In my opinion, this resort is THIRSTY for money. They opened to soon, as they are still under construction. They need to close down until they have renovated the entire place and send down the "Dream Team" to get that fiasco of a hotel staff together. I thought team work, was suppose to make the dream work...but it's not working for Sugar Bay. I wish I could rate the hotel a negative 1! I will never stay at another Dream Resort. This was my first and last.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST! Giving this place one star is gracious. I booked this place for my 2 kids and I and the pictures and description from their website are completely deceiving and are a gross misrepresentation of the property. The grounds are horrific, dirty, and unkept to say the least. There are also feral cats roaming the property. The beds were broken and ants were crawling all over the bathroom. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE. There are 2 restaurants (not 5, as their website indicates) that serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner....that is all!
This place is NOT A HOTEL, NOR A RESORT; BUT RATHER A RUN DOWN MOTEL!

I was so disgusted upon my arrival. I called Travelocity, demanded a refund, and booked a reservation at Marriot Frenchman's Reef. If you are planning a vacation to St. Thomas, DO NOT stay at this place, stay at The Marriott Frenchman's Reef.

Bad things they need to improve on are:
1. The front desk personnel are absolutely ignorant to being nice and customer service.
2. The music BLARING by the pool is bad music selection and horrible quality sound. The speaker sound like they are blown.

Good things:

It's a great place to stay. No complaints. I was a bit hectic at first when reading some reviews but still decided to try it out. The building is a bit older but they are working on remodeling it. We loved this resort! Everyone was super nice and friendly. We did the all inclusive and loved it. Eating and drinking whenever at no extra cost was great. Room was super clean and well taken care of. Dinner was pretty good most of the time. not 5 star food but good enough to get your fill and get back to activities! We will for sure be going back! This was our Honeymoon and we enjoyed every minute of it at Sugar Bay Resort & Spa!!! Also, I know alot of reviews say there is little to no wifi, my wife and I had no issues connecting and staying connected once we got there. We didn't pay our phones much attention anyways!

Very much disappointed in the way they cater to their guests. Their lunch is permanently only burgers and fries. The restaurant-chef does not care whether you like his food or not. We did not have a single decent lunch in seven days. They put a label of a "chicken soup" while it smells like fish and contains fish in it. They call "brown" rice that was never brown. The chef did not object to all this, he offered that we should not have come to his restaurant to eat, but there was no other choice for lunch but that place on the beach. Very sad that in our day and age people who are in the heart of food industry never heard of a healthy food. We strongly believe that we were not the problem here: the chef should go! Sincerely hope that the resort administration reads my review and takes steps to improvement. Please do not spoil your beautiful place with filthy food!

This resort was the worst resort I have ever stayed at! First off the place is falling apart, to turn the a/c down in our room, we had to turn off the entire unit. Secondly, the food is AWFUL! I have never stayed at an all inclusive resort that didn't have room service either! There are a total of 3 restaurants and don't count on choosing out of the three, the only one that was open everyday was the terrible buffet!Out of the other two, you had to choose one, cause only one was open. The lunch buffet was terrible, you had to walk all the way down to the pool/beach area and eat on an open air terrace, no a/c, there were ducks swimming in the pool and the food there was terrible, I will never stay at this resort again and I would encourage you not to either, you will be disappointed, I have stayed at several and have never been so disgusted with the money I spent. I would have rater stayed home and went shopping!

The place is on a decline. I thought my experience last year was bad - I was given a complimentary stay this year to make up for the last. This year they had roaches. Huge ones on the balconys on the ocean view side - the place just isn't clean. The change in management is evident. They no longer offer room service nor is there a vending machine on the property so if you plan on eating past 10pm - you better stock up on food. Very minimal choice in food. The resort got 1 star solely because I couldn't give it a 0 - the ONLY good thing about the resort are the views.

Two restaurants were open - the hibachi and the Italian restaurant. The first room I was in had no clock and an inoperable fan and many dead ants in the picture frames and ants in the shower. I was told two days in a row that someone would come check on the fan and no one ever showed.

SUGAR BAE RESORT IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED... THE ROO...

SUGAR BAE RESORT IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED... THE ROOM WAS CLEAN AND GREAT OCEAN VIEW, HOWEVER, THERE WAS A LOT OF WEAR AND TEAR IN THE BATHROOMS. BATH TUB WAS OLD AND DINGY WHICH MADE IT LOOK DIRTY. THE SHOWER HEAD HAD MOLD AROUND IT. THERE WAS RUST ALL AROUND THE TOILET, AND IT WAS NOT THOROUGHLY CLEAN. THE TOILET WATER WAS YELLOW AND SMELLED. I CALLED TO HAVE THE BATHROOM MAINTENANCED AND NO ONE EVER CAME. THERE IS A HUGE INFESTATION ON THIS RESORT OF WHAT THEY CALL SAND FLEAS OR CHIGOE, AND I BELIEVE THERE IS ANOTHER NAME FOR THEM. THESE THINGS ARE EVERY WHERE AND IT PROBABLE DOESNT HELP THAT THEY HAVE CATS LAYING ALL AROUND THE RESORT, AND THEY KEEP THE CLEAN SHEETS IN A OUTSIDE CLOSET WHERE THE SAND FLEAS ARE AS WELL. I WAS BIT ALL OVER!!!! YOU CAN TELL THEY DO NOT TREAT THEIR RESORT WITH PESTICIDES TO KEEP THE INSECTS DOWN. I WAS THERE FOR A WEEK AND SEEN NO ONE SPRAYING. THE FOOD WAS AVERAGE, NO SPECIALTY DISHES, AND ALL THE SO CALLED SPECIALTY RESTUARANTS WERE AVERAGE AS WELL THAT YOU CAN GO TO IN YOUR OWN CITY. REALLY DIDNT GIVE YOU A VARIETY OF FOOD. THE CHOICES OF FOOD WAS THE SAME EVERY DAY. I WENT FOR A FRIEND'S DESTINATION WEDDING, AND THE CHAIRS FOR THE WEDDING FOR PEOPLE TO SIT IN AND WATCH THE CEREMONY WAS HORRIBLE. THE CHAIRS WERE CRACKED, BEAT UP, FADED PAINT, AND UNCOMFORTABLE. THE FOOD FOR THE RECEPTION WAS COLD. IT SEEMS THAT MANAGEMENT DO NOT PUT MONEY BACK INTO THIS RESORT. THE STAFF WAS OK (FRONT DESK) HOWEVER, THE HOUSE KEEPERS WERE RUDE, THE FIRST FEW NIGHTS NO ONE CAME TO CLEAN MY ROOM, AND THEN THE HOUSE KEEPERS BANG ON YOUR DOOR AND DEMAND TO COME IN. OVERALL ST. THOMAS IS BEAUTIFUL BUT I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAYING AT SUGAR BAY RESORT UNLESS YOU FIND A CHEAP DEAL AND WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT.

My wife and went there on our honeymoon 3 years ago. Was not a good experience. They were supposed to be fully open and were still under renovation. They said they would rebate us and never did. Would not ever recommend shady management. Don't go thete.

The Good: The servers in the restaurants are the best! Ms. Augustina "Tina" Turner, Ms. Shirley, Mr. Swayze and the others were great. They were more than happy to accommodate any request including taking pictures of you on the balcony. The concierges Sonny and the others providing this service really take their jobs seriously making sure that as guest we are happy when we arrive. The Sales Team, Ms. Lorna and Clyde did an awesome job making our anniversary a memorable despite it not going as my husband had originally planned; Ms. Lorna went out of her way to make up for the mistake. Activities were good also. Ms. Kendall is the life of the party. She is going to make sure that you have a good time on her watch and we appreciated this about her. She welcomed all guest during activities and you can tell that she was genuinely interested in getting to know the people that were staying at the resort.

The Bad: Housekeeping is not the greatest. One day it took until 2pm for someone to clean our room and then we were told that there were no more wash clothes so she couldn't replace our old ones. The cleaning of the room left a lot to be desired. Cuisine was not the greatest. Breakfast tended to be on the luke warm side instead of hot. Options for meals are limited and they tend to recycle the same meals; we were there six days and breakfast was the same everyday with a rotation of waffles, pancakes, and french toast. The restaurants close early and the menus are limited. The food at the Mangrove is not the best. Had the Jerk Mahi Mahi with remoulade sauce and it was the worst (the remoulade sauce was actually tarter sauce)! Bites in the Lounge was also limited offering only a few items until midnight and the dessert left a lot to be desired

The Ugly: Guest Services needs to be sent back to hospitality school, especially the Assistant Manager Marliqua. I'm not sure how she received her position, maybe by default but she sucks at it. We were to have a king room and instead we were given a double. We requested a change immediately with the assistance of our concierge, Sonny. Told to call back at 6pm arrival day, first thing the following morning, after 11am, after 1pm, after 3pm. Doing so each time until Marliqua informed us there were no rooms available (although people were continuously checking in). She apologized and then promptly informed me that she didn't care if I accepted her apology or not. Needless to say I asked for the manager...surprise a room is now available. However, this room was worse than the first as the water from the sink was rust colored and the room needed some work. We stayed considering the hard time we had getting the king room, but we won't be back at the Sugar Bay.

If the customer service skills were better, we could probably consider the Sugar Bay again, but Marliqua messed it up for everyone. I better understand now why the Wyndham pulled out of this partnership and why all the locals felt sorry for us when we stated we were staying at the Sugar Bay.

Just okay.. Expect long walks and lots of stairs from and to everywhere. Extremely slow service for small portions of average food at high prices. Bar has small selection but luckily the high prices compensate...

The Sugar Bay Resort & Spa is by far THE ABSOLUTE WORST Hotel/Resort I've ever stayed at. From the beginning things were a mess, they didn't have our reservations confirmed as promised so were waiting in the lobby for hours. The employees need more customers service training especially the supervisor at the front desk. Not to mention they don't have room service. The food is horrible & not worth the trouble. The maid service is absolute garbage. The tv doesn't work properly (constantly loosing a signal) The phone was broken for (2) days, The toilet was clogged & it took maintenance forever and a day to come & fix it. Last but certainly not least this resort has ROACHES. I've never been so excited to leave from a vacation. I will never ever come back to this trash of a resort!!!!!

Hopefully once the resort is open to the public it will be better. No air for 2 weeks, spotty internet, and God for bid your vehicle gets hit. The most didn't seem to really care. I understand we are here for storm recovery but it's not like the resort is free, they are still making money off us.

I would highly recommend this property and the all inclusive package. Also, it is a beautiful setting for a wedding as well. We had actually booked a wedding and 10 night stay at this resort when it was a Dreams property still then our actual travel dates were following the transition from Dreams to Sugar Bay. Initially, we had concerns regarding the transition, but the Sugar Bay staff was incredible, kind, and did absolutely everything to make us feel comfortable. I had booked the resort for our wedding site unseen so I was very happy when we pulled up and it was gorgeous, the rooms were beautiful and clean, and we could even see St John from our room. The staff was welcoming and friendly as well as the wedding coordinators Pam and Naomi are incredible and bent over backwards to make our wedding beautiful perfect and so special. Also, the food is very fresh and delicious at all the restaurants and buffet, especially compared to other all inclusive resorts that we have stayed at. The resort is one 3 of the largest on St Thomas and includes a private beach with lots of activities and fun going on.

LET ME JUST SAY THIS.....FOR THIS TO BE A RESORT IT DIDN'T STAY OPEN LATE LIKE ONE. WE HAD TO LEAVE THE RESORT AND CATCH A CAB IN ORDER TO EAT LATE. EVERYTHING CLOSED AT 12AM. THEY HAD CATS AND CHICKENS ON THE PROPERTY AND BIRDS THAT WOULD ATTACK YOUR PLATE IF YOU ATE OUTSIDE BY THE POOL. NO CLUBS ON THE PROPERTY. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS RESORT TO.ANYONE. THE STAFF WAS WONDERFUL. THE ROOMS ARE OK. THE BREAKFAST BUFFET WAS GREAT. THE HOTEL IS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE DREAMS RESORTS AND YOU COULD SEE WHY.

This place is absolutely amazing! Do not listen to the old reviews as new management has taken over and improved things drastically. The service is completely attentive, the property is luxurious and clean, and the food is over the top and delicious. One of the best resorts I've ever been to. I read some of the old bad reviews and was hesitant and then went and was completely impressed. An absolutely beautiful place! 5 stars!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT! I certainly will never come to this resort ever again!
The service is terribly rude (with a few exceptions)
The food...a huge disappointment. No options...when paying for all inclusive you expect to have some options but they only had one restaurant open. Breakfast was inconsistent in quality and cold. Dinner was terrible.
Vomit floating in the pool...no joke! Seriously...no joke! And when we alerted a staff member I am assuming nothing was done since people were still swimming in the pool.
Ants in our room, the ceiling fan - could not turn on due to the amount of dust on the fan. The rooms get stuffy and hot even with the air conditioner on full blast so the ceiling fan would have been helpful.
Power goes out every single day ...and at night while we are sleeping!
Rocky beach - please note that you will not see a smooth sandy beach - don't let the resorts Marketing on FB fool you. The beach is very small as well.
The beach chair cushions are beyond disgusting!
The beach itself...talk about trash dump! Cigarettes, food, dirty cups everywhere in the sand and left all over the pool area. Employees would walk by and leave dirty cups laying around.
DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!
Upon check out they asked how our stay was and we said honestly the resort could use some attention...the front desks response "Awesome". Huh?
My opinion...go to Little Divi in St Martin or Windjammer Landing Resort in St Lucia both 5 plus star resorts!!!

Our wedding was planned September 2017 in St Thomas. We chose the Sugar Bay Resort because it was near Linquist beach, and that s where our wedding was. Because of Hurricane Irma and Maria hitting the week of our wedding, everything was cancelled. But let me just say the customer service before the hurricane hit, was an absolute nightmare. Nothing but red flags. Unprofessional, rude, and no communication.
Something needs to give. My family has been begging for their refunds since this happened. THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS! We have been more than understanding and patient.
My reviews keep getting erased, phone calls and emails are going unanswered and ignored.
Does anyone know who the owner of this property is? Please help!

My husband and I booked there for our honeymoon that was in November 2017. Today is August 12 2019 and we still did not receive a refund and all trials to contact the office have failed, no answers to emails, no call backs when I leave a message. Very unprofessional. I was very excited about spending our honeymoon there and felt sad when the hurricane Irma hit, but it's not my fault to lose the money and they must've had insurance to pay for the damages. Very disappointed. I was hoping to try to go to St Thomas again in the future but I would never go to this place.

Just left this resort and it was wonderful! The staff was awesome, the food was great, and the Caribbean night is the absolute best! Chris the manager was a true gem. The only down fall was we did not have tv the entire stay!

Just last week. One of the worst Dreams Resorts I have ever stayed at. Most of the employees were rude with the exception of maybe 5. The Buffets were the same foods everyday and they would run out of things even bottled water. It seemed as though they were not stocked enough to accommodate the number of people staying there. The Asian Restaurant food made me sick in my stomach. The pool water was like it was just defrosted it was so cold and most of the umbrellas would not open. They advertised room service and restocking the refrigerator in the rooms but this was a lie. The room was renovated except for the tub which was pretty old and nasty.

We stayed at Sugar Bay in December 2014 or our honeymoon. We were there right before they made the switch to DREAMS. Even though we stayed during the construction....I mean they were actually planting giant palm trees when we 1st arrived it was peaceful and quiet and for the most part clean. The staff upon arrival were amazing and were great the entire time!!! Top Notch and should be commended for their exemplary service. We were always greeted with a smile and we got the best service with any request we made. Again despite the construction and a few detours here and there. Our stay was memorable. The water supply wasn't all that great but we made do. Hey...it was St. Thomas...how much can you really complain? We can't wait to get back there and stay at the new upgraded resort!! Trying to make a way to get back there ASAP. The only thing my husband would say was that the pool was too cold. :) Besides that.....We will be back!!!

If the only amenity you want is a friendly staff, then this is the place for you. The staff was terrific, almost good enough to make you overlook everything else. Air conditioning barely worked, food was mediocre at best unless you eat at the habachi table (which you need reservations for), the pools were small and extremely green and dirty and they run out of booze everyday which is a problem when you are paying for an all inclusive resort. When they didn't run out of alcohol, they watered it down in the bottle to make it last. Basically they up sell this resort with their photos. Do your research before staying here and read all reviews. My suggestion would be to stay at a cheaper place and enjoy traveling around the island and to such places as St. John. Do NOT waste your money on this all inclusive. There are way better places on this island, which in itself is a beautiful place.

My kids and I absolutely LOVED this resort!! All of the staff were so nice and helpful. The rooms were very clean and felt very comfortable. The entertainment coordinator Gloria is fabulous!!! My son Nick was a big hit with her and the dancers! We will absolutely be coming back for our next vacation!!!!

We checked in late the first night. Our AC did not work. With occupancy under 40% I can't imagine why they would choose to put a guest in a room with a broken AC. I called the front desk and an employee came up about 20 minutes later to move us to another room with a working AC. The food was just ok most of the time and sometimes not even ok. They have four different venues to serve food but usually one is open at a time. Breakfast was usually the best meal, but they were a little slow getting fully operational, omelet station etc. There was a grill man from Haiti who I found to be disrespectful. One night he was making some stir fry mess and guest would ask what is the meat? He told some members of our party Chicken and some Turkey. One night they had grilled Lamb chops and they were prepared to order by the Haitian(he told me he was from Haiti, I did not ask) two chops at a time! Two is enough for a serving, but more could be on the grill with twenty people in line. While I waited for mine to cook the Haitian was replaced by a very large woman from another section and she asked me how is she supposed to know when they were medium rare? By touch! When they were done enough I said I'll take them and just then another woman who sometimes appeared to be a maitre d' held a dish kind of low on the side and took my chops. I had to wait for two more chops to be prepared by a person who had no idea what she was doing. There were other grill stories about sub par food, but overall poor quality and service. It appeared as if some of the employees were unhappy to serve us at times. I waited fifteen minutes one morning to see if someone would ask me if I wanted coffee and water. Well, nobody ever did even though two of the wait staff stood not ten feet away having a big conversation. The condition of the buildings was poor. In many places water damage and rot was visible. Our room with the working AC had a very noticeable moldy smell, but the AC worked so I lived with it. The cost of this vacation was more than twice that we have ever paid and it was not worth half of what we paid. The beach is very rocky and my wife hurt her foot on a rock and fell, not their fault but there are much less rocky beaches we visited. No service out by the beach at all. You had to walk to the bar to get a drink. Service at the pool bar was horrible. I would never go back to this resort. We had a great time overall because the water was beautiful and that's what we enjoy. The climate was mild and that's what we like. A tent, a open fire and a hot dog roasted would be fun and a lot less expensive. We were there 2/6/13 - 2/13/16, that's right we got home last night. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained.
