Was woken every morning by the service staff, talking near our room and the service trolley was extremely noisy. And we were staying the more expensive part of the hotel, in the Beach Club rooms. My daughter was at the other end of the hotel, as she had two children, right near the laundry and maintenance sheds and one night the workman were welding and hammering till 2am. She ended up ringing and complaining to be told, oh yes other guests have also complained. It is a holiday, no one wants to be woken up unexpectedly. The rooms need upgrading, especially the bathrooms, dirty and old. - For what we paid, expected more.
Gym too small for the size of the hotel.
Food and drink was very expensive as well.
No information material in the rooms about the hotel and its facilities.

This place is huge!!!!(for a local )For first timers, is better to read the map and don't be afraid to ask for directions or help. This place is amazing with awesome pool activities. I really enjoyed my stay here.
Contact Person - very cooperative, friendly, knew her job well; Rooms - good, spacious, clean; Booking - good Service - excellent Conference venue - right size, good food - excellent
Staff were super friendly and always greeted with a smile and Bula. Thanks to Sharika from guest relations for a smooth check in and out.Ravlin from Salt bar was great.we had my daughters birthday party there and the staff from salt went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of. Thank you everyone for a great night we had .Muni(head pastry chef) is super creative and very talented.Special thanks to im for making my daughter a pineapple shaped cake that she wanted. He did a wonderful job on the cake.So spa was amazing. We were in love with their spa . Ended up there twice .it was relaxing and staff there were great. We were greeted by Sonia who was very accommodating with the day and time we wanted.Monika and her partner were our therapists both times and were great making sure we are comfortable at all times. Overall good experience.. just the rooms seriously need renovation to be rated at 5*. Bathrooms look gross . We will be back !
As you enter the great welcome by your security Emosi Balainuku than the best service by your front desk staff and the rooms are awasome and the pools are good and the breakfast is really nice. Only I had a problem explaining what I want where that guy making the omelet. He ask me you want vegetrain omlete for us egg is not veg whereby he should ask do you want bacon with your omlete guest will not be confused. Rest is nice.
we stayed 4 nights in a waitui beach club room. Room was comfortable and clean and the Pure fiji toiletries and small gifts in the room were a treat. A well set out hotel with lots to do. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The beach club was peaceful and relaxing and the staff couldn't do enough for us. We loved every minute. Rooms need more information in them regarding activities, restaurants and connecting to the wi-fi Food is very expensive if you're eating in the hotel.
Room for improvement at breakfast. The larger chap cooking omelets first few days neither friendly nor responsive in conversation and acknowledgement of questions. Not once while we were having breakfast was I offered a tea or coffee. Constantly out of items, need to have one person just replenishing food. Also around pool area very hard to find staff to get food and drink orders. In the past always staff asking if you wanted anything. Rest of experience good as usual
Truly pleasurable. From check - in, dining, bar, housekeeping, activities, room service, Turtle Club, So Spa, concierge and check-out; the friendly and professional staff made our stay at Sofitel Hotel & Spa Fiji so special for me and my family. It really was such a homely & welcoming feel. Everyone was happy and lovely adding to our magnificent stay. Vinaka!!
Our check-in was very friendly and we were pleased to have been accommodated with our room request of a free standing shower as well as being offered inclusive breakfast. We went to the beach club on our first day and all was good. We went on our second day and were very embarrassed to be declined entry. We were told that this was not included in our stay. When we visited last year we received automatic entry. When booking I did not see that we had to choose separately to include the beach club. Your receptionist did not ask if we wanted to use the beach club, which as retirees it was our desire to enjoy a quiet facility. As I say it was terribly embarrassing to be turned away. We also ate at casually at V Dinner which was a cheese tasting platter. When I offered my Accor card I was told that this was not included in the Accor benefits. I was under the understanding that all food was at a 50% discount. These issues have left us feeling less than positive about being Accor members. A matter that you may or may not have any control over but might hopefully be in a position to give feedback to those concerned is that we paid $30 Fiji for our taxi from the airport to Denaru but had to use the Denaru taxi service returning to the airport which was $45 Fiji. This trip was our 10th visit to Fiji but small issues mount up and leave one wondering if we want to return again.
The 4 stars are only because the hotel is under renovation. It remains an excellent place for a resort holiday. The service is faultless and a beautiful example of Accor's core values. Caters well for families but looks after singles and couples effortlessly as well. Can't wait to see this beautiful venue rejuvenated and shining like the pearl it is!
We came here for a wedding in late June 2019 and as the wedding was held at the Sofitel, we were offered discounted accommodation. It was still approx $400AUD per night for a standard room in the renovated section. We had friends who paid a similar amount for the non-renovated section and just as a helpful tip- get the renovated room. The space is the same but the bathrooms and flooring have been updated. We were greeted with mango juice shot and shown to our room behind the adults only beach club. We had read reviews of the beach club but at $170FJ per person additional to use the beach club, we thought it too much for what is worth. Our room was clean, modern, our bed was an actual queen bed (not two single mattresses stuck together) and super comfy. Our minibar had only milk and water which is refreshed daily. There is coffee pods and tea available in your room too. Breakfast was a good spread with hot food, come cuts, sweet pancakes and baked goods and cereals/oats/museli too. The milk for coffee is full fat and tasted odd to me so I drank pineapple juice the remainder of the time. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The pool area is large and there are heaps of pool chairs available. To get a drink served you put a little green flag up your umbrella to signal to the waiter. Cocktails are $28FJ each and happy hour only brings the price down to $20FJ. There is a list of pool activities run most hours of the day including volleyball, Aqua aerobics, sarong tying sessions, traditional dance presentations and more. We also utilised the So spa for a couple's massage at $320FJ for an hour. After the massage (which was really good!) We were served free champagne and could use the jacuzzi as part of our experience. I used the gym as part of the stay which included free weights, two pulley machines and a range of cardio machines. It is well air-conditioned and there is water and towels available and the gym is open 24/7. The wedding on the Saturday night unfortunately had a lot of rain. Initially the reception was to be in the restaurant which is currently undergoing renovations and so ceremony was outside on the beach with umbrellas. The reception was in one of the conference rooms/halls to the side of the main entrance. Canapes were excellent and drinks were served and refilled quickly. The dinner was a buffet with traditional Fijian food. Unfortunately there was no clear descriptions of some food and there were a few people with allergies (seafood, peanuts, beans) and cross contamination may have been to blame for once guest being unwell during the night. The DJ played a range of requested songs and playlist by the bride and groom. It was a very lovely night. On check out, we paid for all the drinks and massage that had been charged to our room and the whole process took less than 5min. There is also a check in station for Fiji airways available from 4am which checks your luggage in and prints your boarding passes to make your time at the airport hassle free. Overall we give it 4 stars due to some aspects being overpriced and we expect once renovations are complete, that room prices will also go up.
We were staying in Sofitel for two nights and we were originally assigned to a Oceanview King Bed Room on 2nd floor. However there was absolutely no ocean view from the balcony. After discussing with front desk, we were asked to talk to the duty manager Ashveen Navayan. Ashveen helped us switching to a 2 Queen Bedroom with a much beautiful ocean view on the 3rd floor and arranged the moving of our luggage. During the room change, somehow my wife lost her contact lens case. We found that out around 9pm and Ashveen called the pharmacy at the Marina to see if they were able to help. Also in our last day our departure time was 9:40pm. Ashveen extended our late check out to 1pm and also informed us about continuing using the hotel facility including shower at the So Spa before our departure.
Also we had a very good experience with the new receptionist Rose Huang. We understood that she just started working at this Sofitel a week ago. However we noticed an excellent working attitude and service from this new staff. She was quite helpful in various way. We are certain that she will turn out to be a good receptionist in your hotel.
The room condition was a bit disappointed on the other hand. In the first room, I believe it's Room 252, we saw some hand prints and dirty marks on the wall and the closet door. Also the grout around the bathroom tub showed some black spots which totally lowered the standard of a decent room in Sofitel. We were quite disappointed with this room. The new room 398 didn't show these issues we experienced previously.
Although there was some disappointment on the room condition, overall we were extremely pleased with the excellent front desk and management service. We certainly hope the good service from Ashveen and Rose can be recognized by the upper management.
We have stayed at the smaller Resorts on the Isands, but the Waitui Beach Club at the Sofitel is luxurious with all your desires catered for, without fuss. Breakfast included, it is more than enough for anyone. All day in the Club pool relaxing in the water, or at the sit-in bar, and then happy hour to kick the night off, before another great meal. The outlook is superb, a tropical wonderland, just as you would imagine. The staff are friendly and happy to please. It is all the little extra things that you are given at the Beach Club, that make you feel special. The rooms are nice but not over the top. The whole Resort is clean and tidy as is expected. What else could you wish for in a holiday.
We stayed at the Sofitel in 2015 so we were happy to return. The adults only beach club is a great innovation. The staff are friendly and co-operative and happily moved us into a more suitable room as my husband has health problems, Thank you Nate!! Incidentally I lost my address book and I'm hoping it turned up in Room 216 and that it will be posted to me. __ I'm lost without it!! The food in the V restaurant is really lovely and has a delightful atmosphere. I will be recommending Sofitel Fiji to my friends.
Stayed in Radisson, Wyndham and Sofitel at Denarau but Sofitel is just perfect. Kids loved the long slide. We loved Everything about Sofitel. Friendly stuff, clean room, entairtainment and also must mention a farewell song just for us in the restaurant when we were leaving. Isa Isa Lei.. love Fiji, been many times.(Warwick resort, Musket Cove etc..) Sofitel is the winner so far.
The beachfront club is a must if you don't have kids. Great service and a really nice place to relax- especially if you have just spent time in one of the islands that are over run with kids!
We came for a conference, the atmosphere was great for families with kids and the group overall. The staff were lovely and very helpful. With other functions (two weddings) it was quite noisy at night. The room was very very tired, ours needed a coat of paint, and the bathroom desperately needs a facelift. The food was ok, it could do with some love on the plate for the prices.
I really enjoyed spending time in the Sofitel Denerau in Fiji. Everything was a great standard of service and very pleasant. The only reason I would say it was not at a 10 standard was the condition of the Bathroom. Was very small and found rust in the Bathtub. The fact that the bath was also the shower meant that with my limited mobility I found it quite challenging to get in and out of the Shower each day. Everything else was awesome ! Love the Waitui beach club ! ! !
Although we were given a very high recommendation to try their buffet dinner on Sunday night, I'm afraid it fell well below my expectations. Way over priced for what we got and the food was cold. Was not impressed.
BULLA another gem in beautiful FIJI. Wonferful staff and a warm welcoming place. Can seem a little expensive but hey your on holidays. Ask about meal deals and offers at check in. 9.5 out of 10
We had a very relaxing holiday with our daughter who absolutely loved the pool and slide. The staff couldn't have made us feel more welcome, no matter whether it was the concierge or gardeners, everyone was welcoming and had a smile for us.
Fantastic resort but bathrooms need an upgrade and management aware of this WAnt to make special mention of following staff TOMASI REBA in guest relations front office JO at concierge and ORISI at concierge NAVI at front desk VENAISI and ALA in Lagoon Restaurant
It was under renovation but we were upgraded to the waitui club...it was so beautiful the landscaping, friendly staff, delicious buffet with a variety to choose from...loved the spa TELA did a fantastic job, I heard myself snoring more than twice....a great experience!! Thanks IRI LTS for hosting us!
One of our favourite resorts to stay in Fiji. Denarau is the perfect place to relax with everything close by. Staff are really nice and helpful. Resort is clean and beautiful. The pool is amazing!
Currently staying at Sofitel Denarau in the fabulous Fiji. We have a room in the adults only Waitui Beach Club and are absolutely loving it! This is our 3rd time staying in Waitui.
The main Fourier was very welcoming, tropical and clean. The staff were wonderful, however the food in the main dining area was substandard. Very tasteless, and unattractive in appearance. We ended up eating in the a la carte restaurants which weren't cheap but a step up from the main dining area. The rooms need A lot of updating! The beach in front of this hotel was very disappointing too. If u r looking for the green and blue tropical waters u won't find them here but will need to take a boat to another part of the island or to another island that u have to pay for in order to experience the aquamarine waters. I don't think we will stay here again.
Fiji was wonderful again unfortunately the Sofitel was not. It was a nice touch meeting Allan the General Manager in the lobby and getting to have a brief conversation with him. As a company director myself one of my roles is to look at my staff and identify who is performing to a standard and who is not, and when they aren't, why aren't they. to me it appears the Sofitel Fiji have certain managers who don't communicate with there guests, or there staff as to what they should, or need to do to provide there guests with a 3 star experience. We arrived at the Sofitel for our 2pm check in in a suite with beach club access, we were told our room was not ready but we could have full use of a standard room until our room was ready, which was fine. We were on a one night stop over as we were transferring out to a island resort the next morning so we did have things to sort out that afternoon while in Denerau. 4.30 pm and we checked with the desk to see if the room we had paid for was ready and were told no, the guests that were supposed to have checked out had not vacated the room and couldn't be located, at this point we asked to speak to a manager and were transferred to the manager in charge, who only told us our room was still not ready with no further explanation. I told him that this was beyond a joke, we were now 3 hours after check in and for all we new through him, no wiser as to why we could not have a room that we had paid for. Approximately 15 minutes later he rang back and said our room was ready and would send a porter to collect us. This was dually done and we were taken to the extreme other end of the resort and shown to a suite. Firstly the suite is at best a 3 star not a 5 star the air Conditioning was noisy the tiles in the bathroom were stained to the point they look unhygienic and generally the room was very tired and shabby. We were not given beach club access cards and by proximity certainly didn't feel like we were part of any club at all. Also by this time we had missed happy hour at the beach club so I had paid all that extra money on this occasion to have a swim in a adults only pool and that was it. ( the most expensive swim I have had in a while). I understand that guests may not do what they are supposed to at times but I do feel that we got severely disadvantaged by the actions of someone else. Firstly we should have had the situation explained to us by management and then given what options were available to us given the situation. 1) Do we want a suite way down the other end of the resort 2) Do we want to stay in the day room and adjust what we had paid for accordingly 3) do we want to wait until eventually the room we supposed to have was ready and I would suggest with some form of compensation recoverable by you from the guests who had not checked out at the agreed time. We left the next morning again letting the manager know of my dissatisfaction and disappointment in the way out stay had been handled, to compensate the manager waivered the one cocktail and one beer we had by the pool and the two pizzas we had thru room service that evening . A few days latter we returned at around 6.15pm for our last night in Fiji and were shown to a much more modern suite by the beach club area as we had booked again. We did appreciated the lovely bottle of red wine and card signed by Allen. and that we were given a late check out and beach access until we left at 6pm the following day. I have to point out that thru out the couple of days we stayed the staff, from porters to cleaners, gardeners, reception and everyone else were always extremely polite and as helpful as the could be, although at times again it was obvious that the were lacking in strong leadership. Again thank you for the wine and 2 drinks and 2 pizzas it was appreciated but going forward I would have much preferred that the communication is better the managers actually manage and I could happily paid for my drinks and food.
It's always lovely coming to the Sofitel. The staff are warm and make the effort to say hello and it's nice to know that they remember us from previous visits.
In essence a standard Denarau hotel. Nicely appointed grounds, friendly staff. Rooms are a little tired looking. Hotel has not been upgraded in past 10 years. You will find little in terms convenient power sockets to charge phones etc but the radio does have original iPod dock connector During busy times it gets really busy, you'll be lucky to get space for breakfast without waiting. If you're traveling with kids it's great as pools are fantastic and staff cater for all kid needs. If you're an adult after peace and quiet pay extra for the beach club.
I so much loveeeee sofitel fiji! Cant describe how wonderful the service was! Room service was amazing, esp the sleeping package! Very recommended to call the room service for sleeping package. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful. While the staffs were so friendly and helpful as well. The only minus 1 star was due to financial matter when checking out. Was double charged and almost one month now hasnt been settled just yet.
We had been offered an upgrade via email which we responded 'yes' to and were not given this option again which was a little disappointing. We were very well looked after though when it came to the birthday we were there to celebrate which was very nice. The hotel is quite tired and could do with a facelift. We thoroughly enjoyed 3 nights at V restaurant, the service and food were equally 100%. We found most of the staff helpful, and everyone incredibly friendly.
Awesome hospitality Rooms clean Service on point Helpful n caring staff Food is just woww
But......
The room doors bang very loudly. Creates more issues when some people lack manners knowing that the door bangs so loudly that the whole corridor at times vibrates
We were in room 279 and 281 and it was an aweful sound to jump up to in the morning and evening when u trying to fall asleep and than a sudden bang makes u jump
Above all :our fav person was KUKI at the reception. He was very pleasant n kind. Helped us find our daughters teeth retainers. Five star to KUKI
GREETING COMMITTEE are PHENOMINAL, they will drive you in a golf cart or buggy to your room if far from reception,
TVs are huge and have all the info and room service menus that u can order from 24/7 even though restraunts are closed
I highly recommend including Buffet
Staff always say hi and smiling
We were very concerned about our belongings when the staff cleaned our rooms as we had lots of expensive camera gear, jewellery and other equipment stored in our room, also cash, and safe to say, 10 days straight, nothing went missing from our wallets or room
They have a safe as well to lock away your valuables
The pool os great and big, played heaps of pool volley ball as they have a net also can swim in it 24/7 , also pools come with signal flags per umbrella to signal staff you want to order or make an enquiry
Be aware there is a 800 deposit upon check in
Wifi is free, just gta log back in every 24 hours
They always top up your shampoo conditioner, shower gels, towels soaps, water n milk
The beach is also very safe at night, as it is well lit compared to neighbouring beaches where at night it was too dark to roam on their beaches
Was also great they had convenience stores in the hotel and a mini mall that way we never had to travel out for extra late night snacks
Overall, highly recommend, the money is worth the PURE FIJI EXPERIENCE
It was wonderful. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The pool was perfect and the activities were lots of fun. The room has a beautiful view of the ocean. The bathroom was dated and the fridge was not functioning properly and a bit smelly. The breakfast had an amazing range of food and drinks. It was fresh and delicious. The kids club was great. The toys could do with updating though.
I found my stay less than average and dissatisfied due to the high cost charged. I was given the run around because the room wasn't ready and when i came back 15 minutes later than they asked me to come back to get my room key... it still wasn't ready. I then went for a swim but the pool was closed because a child had defecated in it. i then went to dinner at Salt Restaurant and a mother was bouncing her nappied baby on the table top... i was disgusted. Breakfast came with crying screaming children, children running around my feet and i couldn't find anything to eat that would take my fancy... it was all the same as every other breakfast i have had everywhere else... usually sofitel tends to be of a higher standard but i thought it was all very average. Finally, when trying to check out they charged me for breakfast... which was rather disappointing. I booked two rooms and my father and husband couldnt come at the last moment so it was just my mother and myself. One of the rooms was paid for, the other paid for using my Accor member certificate. I understand that the room on the certificate didn't come with breakfast but they could have charged two of us together in one room so i didn't have to pay because our other family members didn't come and when i suggested that they just said no... it felt like you were just out to make money instead of looking after your guests. This was compounded by the 1 welcome drink given to each of us (rather than 2 even though our family were absent) and we only got 1 fruit platter... seriously don't waste my time filling in preference forms prior to my visit if you aren't going to fulfil my expectations. I won't be back and i can't recommend it to anyone I know. It was well below par
Good and best Issue with Accor .. not special checking Seems Accor special checking is for overseas visitors we experienced and not locals Also at breakfast orders were taken on racial listing we saw the staff writing "kaindia" for us The dinner buffet was not very good and we were served with Lautoka bug we had never eaten Change word bug to lobster maybe One of the rooms had food platter the other two did not We booked 3 rooms. I think dissatisfied with Accor service And your dinner buffet was really al carte .thats not really buffet Overall the hotel and the time spend was exceptional and enjoyable Thank you
The experience was bad. Despite early check in through Accor plus we had to wait for 2.5hours and finally could have our rooms ready around 2.20pm. The front desk staff were not helpful at all and tried to suppress our requests. Excuses like it's fully booked and look at the lobby crowd.we have to serve them as well. Our key was also not working. Checkout procedures were really bad as well. The staff didn't seem to know his duties and was just making us wait asking others for clarification. Infact my husband and I told him that we had to pay extra since we used the facilities. The staff didn't seem to understand the simple basic of deducting our charges with that of the upfront deposits. Service wasn't worth the trip. Wouldn't prefer to book for another stay .not even with accor plus membership.
Overall a great holiday . The resort was all you would want from a resort. Great food, friendly staff, great facilities (including spa!). Saving up to come back.
The one frustration i had was that our room was not ready by check in time. I was travelling with two pre-schoolers, the 2 year old needed a nap. I appreciated drinks vouchers but still would rather had room ready. Was also disappointed that duty manager waved me off when i asked to speak to manager as 2 hours of waiting in lobby was too long. He was probably the rudest of all staff we encountered.
I also would like to suggest that if the do not disturb sign is out that housekeeping don't dusturb. We had knocks on door and phone cslls asking if we needed towels water etc. Nice in theory but not when it wakes toddler from nap.
Also would be good if there was a compendium about the resort as i bet there were things we didn't know there was or useful things about denerau. The website has no info so was expecting some info at hotel... like don't catch the tiger bulla bus from the golf club restaurant as wont take you back to the sofitel
We dined in the fine dining restaurant on our recent trip to Fiji and couldn't fault the restaurant. Perfect place for date night while on holidays.
The meal was absolutely devine, the service and staff were attentive and knowledgeable but didnt interrupt your meal. Finally the cost of this dinner was fantastic, great value for money.
Wonderful way relax and enjoy the lovely Fiji friendliness and hospitality. Excellent pool side wait staff and delicious drinks and canapes every evening
After sorting out our very poor room designed for the disabled we were given a beautiful garden view room. Well appointed n spacious. Good food n a very well designed pool area , even a designated adult pool area if u wanted it.
