Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa Review

Great experience with the family and work colleagues!! The room, food pool and staff was so great!!! Well worth the time, money and effort!!

Stayed here a number of times, has the required standards to be classified as a 5 star. Enjoyed each of my stays at Sofitel.

This would have to be the worst hotel in Denarau. I have stayed at every other resort in Denarau so thought I would give Sofitel a try. The rooms are old and tired, the grounds are bland and the customer service is well below average. I checked into my room and didn't like it to so decided to change hotels. The Duty manager at the time named JOE tried to make our departure as difficult as possible to the point where we said if he didn't approve our refund we would get it reversed on our credit card. He finally agreed but would not give us anything in writing so we took his word for it. We then moved to the Sheraton were we had an incredibly stay. On our return we chased up our refund and the manager (Joe) openly lied about the conversation we had and denied that he said he was going to approve the refund. I expect more from Sofitel and a hotel is a reflection of its staff. This manager should not be in his role. He was uncommitted to his job and it showed in every aspect of our short stay at Sofitel. Do not waste your time or money here. Stay at the Sheraton which is a much better hotel.

Not the best for an expensive international hotel. Room not ready on arrival and reception staff disappeared to avoid conflict. Overpriced drinks and ony average quality food. Good facilities but better to eat at the Marina.

Waitui club is nice, service at waitui club is great. The rooms are in need of an update.

Friendly service the hospitality is just superb...i do hair & makeup for weddings here alot they're so helpful and it's genuine... it's a wonder they're the busiest...5 all the way

Cocktails were poorly made and over priced. For a cocktail that costs $27 I would expect a proper cocktail glass with some fresh fruit as a garnish at very least

Please, make sure, in the check - in email from Sofitel, it won't misleading fraise - "your key will be ready
on your arrival"!!!!

If you are visiting Sofitel as a couple, I'd highly recommend the Waitui Adults Only VIP Beach Club for some peace and quiet. Children are the future, but sometimes you just want that silence whilst on holiday. You should expect everything from a Sofitel and more at this grand location in Denerau. Highly recommended.

As this was our first time in Fiji we were unsure what to expect, our stay at Sofitel made sure we will back again and again.
For us the highlight of the resort was the Waitui Club as it was so relaxing, no hassles and no fuss with impeccable service, the staff and facilities in this area are a credit to the resort.

We were lucky enough to get a bottle of wine on arrival and that set the tone for our stay, we also enjoyed cultural performances from the hotel. The kids loved the pool and the staff are always friendly. Also very close to the Marina and Waterworld which made it so easy with kids.

Hotel is nice. Beach isn't... Dark, heavy sand makes water murky.

The grounds & pool area pleasant, staff friendly but service slow. Felt the hotel was overpriced & bedroom & bathroom did not meet our expectations. Room was clean. But, we woke up first morning to find a fungus/ mushroom growing out of the carpet! The shower/bath door inefficient- we had a large puddle of water on the floor after each use. We sent my wife's meal back (scallops) during our first dining experience at Salt - it was cold when it should have been served hot. Second dining experience at Salt, we both ordered same meal (Butter Chicken), there was a huge difference in serving size, which we commented to the waiter. We felt compelled to eat/ drink at the Sofitel because we had purchased a food& beverage package - wish we had not! There was no information in the room about services etc we requested a compendium, but it still lacked any information about Denarau and other attractions.

I really have a great time just a word or entertainment it's beautiful and the bed and air conditioning was excellent nice and clean

Room was not secure, or well maintained - the door lock to the veranda (sliding door) was broken. Room needs an upgrade.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Sofitel Fiji Resort.Staff were super friendly & most obligeing. Pool was awesome & plenty of activeties and treats going on especially with the kids , & for those that wanted to take part. Buffett had an amaizing range of choices. Hopefully i can return some day. Spent 2 nights in the luxury suite with Waitui beach access, and lets just say the whole experience was surreal. The main attraction was the kindness and hospitality shown by the staff of the hotel and excellent customer service. I was thoroughly impressed that even though we were local guests, the quality of service and hospitality remained the same as if we were visiting tourists. The room was pleasant and views were spectacular. Another great aspect was being an AccorPlus member made the trip affordable and provided a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of life. A special thanks to Alfred and Annie at the Waitui beach club, and the sweetest, Asinate, from guest relations. Vinaka Sofitel, will be definitely visiting again.

Hotel was very welcoming and all staff extremely friendly and willing to help at all times . Restaurant was outstanding . Rooms very clean and serviced to a high standard . Would definitely stay again and will look at sofitel for other holidays

On phone booking our stay with Accor Hotels Reservations directly, as an Accor member, and expressly requesting to be booked in an Adult only area, then on checking in and asking the reception personal to confirm that we had our room in an Adult only area; it is extremely disappointing to get into our room to find out that families where either side of our room, with kids constantly yelling obsenities and about how big their private parts where.
This lead us not able to enjoy the balconey, with views of the ocean and having to close the balconey sliding door while in our room for 5 days.
What was more disappointing is that we were never informed at time of booking with Accor Reservations or as we asked at reception on arrival at the Sofitel Fiji, that for a small top up payment we could have enjoyed staying in a new exclusive (1 year old) Adult area of the Sofitel Fiji, called the Waitui Beach Club.
We would have happily paid extra for this option.
When we questioned the staff about our "Adult exclusive room" at the later part of our stay, only one staff member (whom didn't seem able to do anything about it) apologised on behalf of the Sofitel Fiji, however, most of the staff during our stay when we questioned the room that we were in, being an "Adult only" area; either lied or just did not care about our issue/query.
The Sofitel Fiji advertises that it's a 5 star hotel property. We travel alot and can confirm that our room was a 3.5 star at the best, albeit we understood by reading some information, that it was due for an upgrade commencing 2018 apparently.
I would say though that my wife and I will be returning to Denarau Island, although, we will be looking at other hotel options and more than likely not renewing my Accor membership, as no one really has shown to give a toss about our concerns and disappointment. (not a Manager in site throughout our stay!).
The only saving grace about our stay at the Sofitel Fiji, is that we were in Denarau for a friends wedding which was at a different Denarau Island resort, which ment we spent alot of time away from the Sofitel Fiji.

Our stay at Sofitel was great. Everyone was SO nice, our room was mostly perfect (with the exception of some bugs that kept coming in the last two nights which was super annoying and the bathroom was small and water got everywhere) but we had a great ocean view room and the beds were comfortable. The Beach Club was the highlight of the hotel and our stay there; the servers were attentive and nice and the food and drinks were delicious. Amelia was exceptional and did a lot for us :) We didn't get the best initial information on the beach club on our arrival and had to ask for more information regarding it on our own but that's okay. Also, we thought we asked for a Shuttle to the airport on our last evening but the communication with that wasn't the best and there was a lot of confusion when we tried confirming when our shuttle would be taking us. But it got figured out. The staff there is really attentive and want to do their best at making things right if you have a problem. We didn't report the bug issue so that was our fault. The gym was good, especially at the beach club; outdoor and you get a private instructor! I highly recommend this hotel.

A good resort with lots of facilities. Also the cheapest / one of the cheapest 5-star hotels in the Denarau Island area.

Great resort situated of the mainland yet connected

They are open while under construction but still keep everything clean and quiet. The Bazaar Buffet is amazing and a must try. Foods from around the world.

The room was OK. The bathroom was a bit in need of deep clean or repair to the tiling and grout. There was little else to do other than the swimming pool. The service from people who worked there was below average. People were unfriendly, and at times even difficult to ask questions about local attractions and things to do outside of the hotel. Charges to room were awful. You (hotel staff) need to have the receipt signed everytime, immediately at the point of delivery please as we had a lot of unknown charges.

Very nice resort. Main pool can get very busy (and noisy). You can pay extra for the adults only beach club and if you are after peace and quiet it is worth it.

Very friendly staff, rooms was a bit run down for 4 star and the buffet breakfast was not good at all. Room service and Pool bar was excellent. No white sandy beach, but the family pool was excellent.

The recent renovations at Sofitel Fiji has turned this great Resort into a magnificent one. Wonderful experience and the ambience was enjoyed by us all.

I am coming back, for sure and often.

The staff were great. The food in the restaurant by the beach was average. Pool was beautiful. Rooms were ok but need to be updated with a bigger bathroom. Also, regular pest control would be good. The room was clean enough but could have been cleaner.

Sofitel Denarau has positioned itself as a five star resort however I feel it's fallen short of the mark significantly in a number of key areas.
Rooms were good and the service was certainly friendly however it was highly ineffecient and at times frustrating when staff members were unable to appreciate the various Accor products they they were participating in.
The room I stayed in was in the upgraded "luxury beach club access" room. The room was not very different to the standard rooms however the area was kid free.
The rooms were spacious, the bathrooms were not and poorly designed.
The beach club was worth a visit when the weather was good.
Sadly for our trip the weather was poor for 4 out of five days. There was .a cyclone and this clearly showed that the Sofitel team did not appear to have a unified approach to disaster management.
The hotel was flooded with children and frustrated adults, the kitchens beyond capacity with food taking more than an hour to be served from the limited 'rainy weather' menu.
During this period it was extremely difficult to get any time with staff, many avoiding customers attempts to talk. This was extremely frustrating.
Internet offered at the hotel was not workable and very slow. I was unable to do my work, despite having purchased the "fast" internet. The free guest internet as the hotel next door was 5x faster!
Food offerings at the hotel were good with the exception of the buffet. Here the environment reminded me of a cheap cruise ship. Disorganized, little food hygiene and the very poor, unappealing selection.
Members of my travelling group were taken down with vomiting an diarrhea, the common denominator was the buffet.
Business services at the hotel were average and very slow to fix problems but quick to add charges for doing it.
Pools were well kept and the beach club had a bar with simple food and drinks. The staff of the beach club were variable. Some super friendly, many who gave an affect of "rather not be here".
Overall I was not impressed with the Sofitel. It absolutely did not match the international reputation of the chain.

3 Star Hotel with 5 Star prices. Food was god awful, not much entertainment and staff would take a drink order and you'd never see them again. There was a storm which resulted in cancelled flights. Some unfortunate guests had to book another night. They put the price of a room up to almost double! Just don't bother.

Check in was very poor, wasn't advised of our entitlements, spa had specials that we weren't advised and we got charged full price, restaurants quite expensive for both food and drink

Overall good, pool side floor needed cleaning with water not just sweeping. Often sticky and dirty under loungers attracting ants.

Being an Accor member was not asked for or explained at the reception desk in relation to ordering and paying for food (i.e there was inconsistency in the cost of breakfast depending on whether you paid cash or charge to room and had to remember to show your card as you arent asked if you are a member or not.
Due to the amount of bookings the towels ran out, the pool was crowded and not enough chairs by the pool. Id suggest some are retained to be put out later in the day as guests were getting up early putting towels on them for the whole day :( It seems a waste for a large pool at the Waitui and then nowhere for adults with teens to go ?

Great hotel, great location, very organized, staff up to the name

The staff at the Sofitel in Denaru really made the trip for us. From kids club to the Lagoon restaurant the staff would anticipate our needs and make us feel welcome. They were absolutely wonderful with the kids. In particular I would single out Alfred, Seini, Merioni and Ala who always went above and beyond and were so genuine and kind to us and our kids.

Best family resort, choose Sofitel Fiji for that Fijian Experience. Bula, Welcome to My Home Fiji.

Nice pool, nice beach. Alacarte charges and hidden charges for various amenities. Wifi, using adult pool. Buffet restaraunt is crowded breakfast eggs cold and runny. Bathrooms in rooms especially need upgrages. Facilities dated. Place needs a upgrade. Overall comfortable, but a bit overpriced considering the overall facility condition

I think the Sofitel Denarau plays on its location to pretend to be a five star hotel. The service was generally poor, usually slow and often confused. Fiji time is all very well but charging five star prices requires five star service. The one hour wait for our dinner on the first night in a largely empty restaurant was typical of our experience.
The first room I had (364) was tired, suffered from smoke from adjacent rooms and the shower over the bath was dangerous. The second room I had was better but the mold on the shower was not a good look.

Outstanding experience with good customer service,friendly and committed staffs and a nice environment too.

A big thank you to all the personnel at the Sofitel. The warmth and hospitality of all staff members we fantastic. The facilities are great and it will be a place the we will most definitely return too.

Very luxurious. The pool is great with a small waterslide for the kids.

Still a great resort experience - pool is excellent and rooms are family friendly. Food wasn't quite as good as 2016 and everything seems a notch more expensive. Place could do with a bit more maintenance - elements looking tired.

Amelia at the adults pool provided exceptional service well beyond what is expected at any hotel. An asset to any hotel

Other than breaking my finger and hand on the first day inside the top of their dangerous water slide our stay was really nice and enjoyable. Bit disappointed that even after my nasty fall and my advice to have non slip mats put in the top of the slide where I fell, no one actioned my advice and subsequently other people fell in the same place, children included.

This is the second time I have stayed at this resort and I was happy with the room discount and to have breakfast included. Overall a good experience. Would appreciate if i could get email updates on local specials.

The slide and the sea view were the reason we chose Sofitel. My daughter loved the slide and the pool was amazing. The sea view wasn't what I'd hoped though I'm sure some rooms have a great view but still I really enjoyed sitting out on the balcony. The food and staff were amazing. The hotel has good facilities and all the communal areas were very good but the room was tired and so was the linen. The movies were ridiculously overpriced but over all I didn't find things too expensive.

The pricing of this resort is definitely 5 star. The actual facilities are about 3.5 to 4* Reasons being the rooms are well kept, but there is a shower over the bath tub. Very 2*. The actual buildings, grounds and staff can not be faulted. There is very little to do other than the pool. The beach is kept immaculately clean and groomed but it's not a coral beach with reef etc. We could not find a sauna room or steam for guest usage (without charge). Pricing of meals is quite high - $99.00 for a buffet dinner is quite high. $13.00 for a local beer. I would recommend this resort but be prepared with very high prices.

Some staff friendly, others can be cold. Slide closed for a few days which doesnt help kids. Also there is no free turtle club anymore and lots of renovation noises. Tried to take out kayak for last 3 days but not allowed as resort wont allow watersports while they have boats racing from the ramp.

Recently stayed for a week. Definitely would recommend to anyone needing excellent family getaway. Enjoyed the activities and evening traditional meals. Staff and hotel services were awesome.

Everytime we had park the car right at the back since front parking was always full.
Everytime we had show our room card to security guards that we were there as guests to access front parking and offload the lugguage.
Parking service needs to be improved and accomodated for the guests..

The rooms were clean and housekeeping was prompt with all requests.

The food was amazing especially the breakfast which was included in the package. I love their lolo buns!!!

The staff were friendly and helpful. From housekeeping to reception to the restaurant staff, everyone had a smile on their faces and seemed happy to help. One of my friends loves Asian breakfasts and although congee wasn't on the menu, the chef was happy to make it for her.

A place i would recommend to anyone whose looking forward to a relaxing getaway!!!

Lovely facilities. The ocean front is picturesque but not good for water sports other than still water activities, not even snorkling. Room and service were great when taking Bula time into account. Kids loved it.

From the check in process to our stay to my wedding coordinator and the running of our wedding- the service from the staff was excellent! It was nothing short of spectacular we loved our stay here.
