I just had my MacBook pro battery and top case replaced - the whole process was a breeze and the staff was amazingly attentive and knowledgable when dealing with my machine. They also finished ahead of schedule, which is always a plus! Definitely recommend!

Efficient, friendly service. This team went above and beyond to help - including letting me know that a repair on my computer (that I'd not inquired about) was covered under apple care and had it fixed for me in the time that I needed before I caught a flight out of town. I highly recommend them and will go back!

I needed a new SDD drive installed in my 2009 iMac DVD bay. I requested a quote via their website at 8:45 on a Sunday evening and they sent one out 10 minutes later, which astounded me. Even better, they understood exactly what I needed to be done without any questions. I dropped off the computer in their store and it was ready within the promised 24 hours. (Well -- 25 hours -- but close enough!) Everyone I communicated with -- in-store, and by email -- were friendly and knowledgeable. I was very pleased with my experience.

Screws on the bottom of my Mac were coming loose. Walked into the shop and Tejal took care of them in about a minute and a half. (Fact that I have to take it to a shop at all is another story.)

WARNING: Technicians did NOT follow Apple guidelines when replacing my aging battery in my iPhoneX.

Upon re-sealing the phone they either forgot or chose not to include the water seal protector. I found out the hard way when using my phone in a light rain shower.

Carbon computing refused to fix the phone and tried to scam me into replacing the entire unit for $700 !!

Of course I took it elsewhere. When they opened the phone they told me the water seal was missing and knew right away that someone had worked on my phone. The Oled screen died due to water damage because of Carbon Computings faulty replacement.

I was out $350 for a new display. Upon contacting Nathan who runs Carbon computing (quite a useless fellow) he hid behind a prepared statement we follow the guidelines. Contact Apple directly .

This is a warning to everyone. Get your phone serviced ONLY AT APPLE STORES !!! This place not only failed to follow the battery replacement guidelines Apple set out for them but refused to make up for it.

If you ve had a similar experience I urge you to contact APPLE immediately and log the complaint. They should not be servicing Apple products if they aren t going to follow the repair guidelines set out for them.

Updated: In fairness a lot of this is the fault of apple's booking process and the staff here seem pretty helpful. I get the feeling there is a lot of frustration going around regarding this particular issue.

Wanted to do the iPhone battery replacement. Called CC first. Was told to book appointment online via Apple site. Did that and waited a week for it. When I got there the service desk was busy so waited another 20 min. Then was finally told that the batteries are out of stock for 2 or 3 weeks... left with nothing but disappointment and frustration.

Great! Brought in my iMac for diagnostics on slow performance, and although they weren't able to totally figure out my possibly imagined issue, the service was great and my computer came back in the best shape of its life.

The ONLY place in TO that'll put in an 8GB RAM into a non-vintage Mac (where 'vintage" means 6+ yrs old). Even the Apple store won't do this for you anymore, though it's their flawed design that created the issues. If you want to run High Sierra and use Chrome, you need more than the 4GB RAM Apple ridiculously includes in many of their laptops. You need 8GB.

It cost $100 to get the 4 traded for 8 and finally, my MacBook Pro works. we all know Apple are crooks, but these guys were great. Fantastic customer service too.

Do not bring in your personal data storage.

Recently brought my macbook (which wasnt loading past the start screen) to carbon computing and I brought my external hard drive (with everything I've ever owned backed up on it) to carbon computing to have my macbook data backed up and it came back to me after 3 visits to the store, without either one working.

I am blown away by the lack of help, communication and professionalism at Carbon Computing. I brought my external hard drive with me to be used by the tech team only if they could salvage files from my macbook. The first time I picked up my hard drive and computer, I was told by a tech over the phone that almost all files were able to be transferred but that the computer had a failing hard drive and would need a new one if I wanted to repair it so I elected for no repair and was thankful of the file transfer. The tech said he had to create a file in my already created media file but that it was good to go. Problem was, got home and absolutely no files...whatsoever...were on my hard drive. Nothing at all... it had been wiped clean. I felt so sick and went back in immediately to ask how to access my files from the macbook and ask where all of my other files were.... no one had an answer.

No one was able to help, and they took everything back for more time with it. Weeks later, no calls... I call and am told it was good to go. I arrive, and none of my previous files were on my hard drive still. None. They did transfer some of the macbook info, not all, and have no idea where my data is on my 2TB hard drive of data. My biggest question is, if my hard drive had been failing...how were you able to transfer my broken macbook files. It just makes no sense and there is a big problem with the lack of answers.

I spoke with the manager about all of the problems with the tech 'experts' and he had no resolution and said that likely my external hard drive failed. Nothing added up from the people I would speak to on the phone and the people who would give me back my tech. I have no words for my experience there. Awful customer service, zero capability of problem resolution, and no way to recover files THEY lost that are extremely valuable to me. I am heart broken and very upset by my experience with carbon computing.

Will never go back again, will not recommend and am hoping that this review helps make your choice more clear to not use Carbon Computing for data backup.

I had a stuck key on my keyboard. Without taking a single look at my MacBook. I was told the entire keyboard needed to be replaced at $800 and labour would cost another $100. I thought it was ridiculous and started to leave. They said to me on my way out Apple would say the same thing . I went to Apple at the Eaton Centre. They replaced the entire keyboard for FREE.

I was unable to charge my Mac notebook because there seemed to be some debris in the port. I took it to Carbon Computing and Alexandra helped me right away. Within 5 minutes I was leaving the store with a clean port...at no charge! Will definitely return for future computer issues.

I walked in with my frozen MacBook air that would not respond. Alexandra and Tejal were friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. The services Carbon Computing provide are very reasonable, but before they even took my computer in Tejal tried one thing and fixed the problem in a few seconds! They told me to come back if there were any further issues, happily there haven't been. If I ever have any future issues with my Apple products, I'll definitely go back!

I went here because I read all the great reviews that were written before mine, turned out to be a huge disappointment. So even though I don't usually write bad reviews, or reviews in general, I felt compelled to write this one.

I left my Macbook Pro with these guys for diagnosis because it was running extremely slow. Although did some research on my own in prior of what could be the cause, I thought these guys would know better. I told the guy at the counter that faulty SATA cable inside could be the cause, but he just said "Yeah " and brushed off what whatever I told him. Sure, that's fair. That's why I brought it in, so I can get a professional take a look at it.

After 7 business days of wait (which, to be fair, not really their fault) they were finally able to take a look at my computer. I called in to check in on the progress and the technician kept telling me there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, even though there clearly was. I kept asking if he could take a look at the hard drive, he just insisted to rely on the diagnosis software. And again, it came out clean. His solution to me was to re-install the OS or to get a new hard drive, to which I said that I can do myself and payed the diagnosis fee.

My Macbook was still slow after getting a drive and it was obvious that OS or the old hard drive was the cause. I ended up taking the matter to my own hands, did some digging around the web and found that it WAS the SATA cable. It was literally the biggest waste of money to bring my computer here, just to have him run a test that requires him to press a single button. If I'm paying someone I expect them to find exactly what is wrong with it.

The moral of the story is, just go to the Apple Store and save yourselves a trouble and $73.45 fee. I don't think I'll come here for any tech support here anymore.

I wasted a lot of time trying to get my battery replaced and thankfully they did not charge me...hence the 2nd star.

I emailed them ahead of time to ask if my mac's battery can be replaced and one employee replied it would likely fall under a warranty. I brought it in and 7 days later, I get an email from a different employee saying it would cost up to $400 to replace a battery from 2015!

I said I was not interested in replacing the battery anymore and went all the way downtown to pick it up after one week without my laptop. I wasted 4 hours of commuting to have bad internal miscommunication between employees here tell me the replacement will cost more than I expected.

I actually bought my macbook pro here 5 years ago! I loved the service. In the future, please tell your employees to get acquainted with warranties and tell your customers the estimate before they spend time commuting.

Great service! I had my iPhone 6S battery replaced here last week and they had it done in about an hour and a half. To avoid disappointment make sure to contact them before hand, I sent them a msg via Facebook, to see if they are taking walk ins or if you need to make an appointment.

I was very unprepared for the upcoming school year. I had the wrong machine with the wrong specs and no idea. With help from Alexandra, I was able to get a machine, accessories, and warranty at a reasonable price but more importantly she helped me find the machine with the right specs at the last minute.

I'm very appreciative of Carbon Computing and all the help and advice they gave me regarding my macbook. Their technicians take the time to speak with you on the phone or in store at length about any questions you may have. When determining the cost of replacing the display for my out-of-warranty macbook, Devin suggested I call Apple, and they actually ended up covering the cost of all the repairs, saving me hundreds! I also like how quiet their store is, unlike the chaos of the Apple store, so you can get the help you need in a calm environment.

Toronto Mac experts that have been around for ages, moved from Queen east to Queen west. They are authorized Apple product sellers and fixers; had them deal with my phone instead of going into an overcrowded Apple Store. I would definitely consider them if you are in the market for anything Apple or accessories to go with.

I went in to purchase RAM for the first time for my computer. The staff were friendly when approaching, however, not only did they overprice me the RAM and charging an installation fee, the RAM I got given weren't paired properly and now I can't return it. I feel very taken advantage of despite having told them my computer issue. For anyone reading these reviews, I advise you go to WinMac Inc. instead. They installed my RAM for FREE in front of me and their advice/knowledge were far more informative.

The team at Carbon Computing (an Apple Certified Service Provider) are phenomenal!!!

My iPhone required service during the COVID-19 pandemic. With Apple stores understandably closed, it was a relief to find Carbon not only still operating, but having a:
streamlined online appointment system (much appreciated and the team were reliably on time); and
very responsive & helpful service team (both before, during and after service).

Carbon had also thoughtfully enacted social distancing measures (one person at a time in store; isolated table with metal tray to place iPhone for repair; distancing protocols; and employees wearing personal protective equipment) to ensure the health and well-being of both employees and customers.

My iPhone came back restored, new battery and in the same pristine condition I delivered it.

This was my first visit to Carbon and for future service issues, I will be returning ... and already have highly recommended Carbon. Carbon provide the same high quality service you receive in an Apple store, without the crowds!

EXCELLENT customer service! I picked up my new 2017 iMac & Cintiq 22HD today and asked Chad to double-check what adapter was needed, before taking everything home and having a potential meltdown and/or fit of rage later. Turns out, not such an easy thing as the new Macs have thunderbolt/USB-C and the Cintiq needs a DVI port...and Mac doesn't make an adapter. Ended up needing to link TWO different adapters, but at least everything works. For $6000, customer service should always be so great...thanks Chad!

My phone was not charging, I'd tried cleaning the port myself but I needed professional help. I booked my appointment quickly and got my ideal time slot. The salesperson quickly and efficiently cleaned the port and got my phone back to me. Functioning perfectly well. The best part - because it was such an easy fix, they didn't even charge me. Overall, an excellent experience.

I was blown away by the service I received at Carbon Computing today. I went in utterly confused about how to back things up in a way that would suit my needs. Adrienne counselled me and gave me ideas and recommendations. I ended up buying a hard drive which he then partitioned for me, which I would never have known how to do, and it solved all my problems. I was thrilled. But really, his considerate, knowledgeable, patient, and friendly approach from beginning to end was the real thrill. He kept making sure I understood what he was explaining to me, checking in to make sure I was okay with what he was about to do with my hard drive and computer, and just generally being really engaged and caring. I highly recommend this store!

In April of 2012, my MacBook's warranty expired and of course, it started acting up...strange issues like frozen, pixelated screens, grinding noises, etc... I called Carbon Computing and dealt with Melissa.
She was so professional, asked detailed questions and gave clear answers. She sent me a quote and not long after, I was in the store, handing over my "baby" to her. She was confident that they'd have it fixed before the end of the day. I felt a little stressed as a self-employed person, running two companies from this MacBook....but just over an hour later, I received a call from her saying they were all done.
Once my jaw left the floor, I headed over and picked it up.
New hard drive, new memory, diagnostics run, the whole nine yards.
The price was incredibly reasonable and to this day the computer has not even flinched, frozen, stuttered, anything. It runs like lightening speed and is great. Melissa even sent an email afterwards to follow up and ask if my restore went okay and if there was anything else I needed help with or questions answered.
I won't be going anywhere else to have repairs done on my MacBook "baby". This place is awesome.

Had an appointment to get an iPhone battery replaced - they didn't have the battery in stock and their policy is for me to leave the phone with them until they get the battery in (1+ business days).

What is the point of making an appointment in advance if they wont even have the part in stock?! I offered to leave something else (ID, etc.) but they said their policy is to leave the phone.

Will not go here again

I came a bit early for our appointment to pick up a phone and she wouldn't release it to us even though we had already paid for it because it was outside of our scheduled time. She said she had to deal with other customers. It was me, my husband, and her in the store. No one else. Not very flexible or friendly. My husband really needed his phone for a work call and this was the only time we were able to step out for the day now we won't be able to get it until we schedule another appointment available days from now. Quite frustrating.

Dependent on my laptop for work, the staff were approachable & accommodating, on the phone & in person. My timing may have been right & the work required was not too intense, however they were extremely helpful & completed the job within a day & half. This will be my go to place from now on. Thank you very much for your help.

Excellent service at a reasonable price!

I was recommended to Carbon Computing by an Apple Genius at the Genius bar as they were unable to repair my "Vintage" (mid-2010) MacBook Pro. Although CC was unable to locate a new part for my computer, they were upfront as they sourced a used part (from a presumably dead) MBP and charged me very little for the part and labour.

I am eternally grateful for their great customer service, workmanship and overall ways. I will be sure to return to CC and recommend them to anyone I know that has Apple related issues. I'll be sure to come back if/when I decide to finally upgrade this vintage MBP.

They made quick and reasonably-priced work of the hard drive replacement and now my laptop runs like new. Would definitely use their services again!

Hi all, please make sure you now that if you have water damage to your apple products- and you don't know about it when you bring your item in- it will void your apple warranty coverage and you will have to pay their service fee if you refuse the repair diagnostic. It's in their fine print. Otherwise, good service. Cheers! Mario

The store wasn't able to resolve the issue my phone had. Not sure if they have any authority to make a call on any device.
However it's good that they accepted it and asked me to get in touch with Apple store directly so that there is no wastage of time in going back and forth.
I wish they could resolve the issue.

I just got back from an appointment at Carbon Computing to have my iPhone 6 battery replaced. I specifically made the appointment for a battery replacement earlier in the week. I show up only to be told that they don't have any batteries in stock and that it will be 2-3 weeks before they receive new stock. While I understand that this is a matter beyond their control, couldn't they have called me and let me know ahead of time instead of me wasting time and money to get there?

BUYER BEWARE! Bought a laptop from CARBON COMPUTING. Experienced issues with the computer crashing within hours of purchase and had just a passing battery. Apple recommended replacing internal component. Had to pay restocking fee to return it to vendor.

Customer Service was bad, and no remorse or sympathy for the position they put me in (was stuck overseas without a computer for a work deadline) and slapped me with a restocking fee. Had I purchased from Best buy or Apple Store, I would have had a no-questions-asked return. Carbon Sucks!

Carbon Computing has assisted me over the years. Recently since December 2019 they have been helpful on a #of issues I had right up until Feb 24th 2020. Quite often they go above and beyond what would be expected of service to their Customers. They are definitely my go to company for Mac Products and services.

Went in to the shop with my Mac Book and was freaking out about a cache problem. On the phone they said they would have to bring it in and do a diagnostic, etc - charge me for that (naturally) and then fix it if they could. BUT when I brought it in and explained the issue the guys took the laptop out and brainstormed the problem, fixed it in about 10 minutes AND DIDN'T CHARGE ME ANYTHING! They were friendly and helpful and did not make me feel like some old doofus who knows nothing about computers - and I don't. Awesome. I'll be back to buy and get repairs in the future.

Super quick + easy! Made an appt to get a battery issue fixed. I was helped by Alex who not only solved the issue quickly, but taught me how to do it on my own and even provided me with a complimentary tool to do so. Awesome experience!!! I would definitely come back and recommend this service instead of visiting the Apple store.

I had a good experience last year with another phone repair, but I was a bit disappointed with my service this time around.

I had a battery replacement for my iPhone completed here and it took four times longer than what they told me initially (four days without a working phone is obviously awhile, and if I had known in advance I would have prepared for this - also this does seem like a long time for a battery replacement), also I had to contact them to find out whether or not the repair was completed after they asked if it was alright to go ahead with the replacement (they claimed that the notes had said I was emailed but that it was never sent...).

Additionally I dropped my phone off with a glass screen protector and they returned my phone without it. When I broached this, after consulting with the manager, the rep told me that there was nothing that could be done in the way of replacing the screen protector as the rep who took my phone in did not make a note of this (they also didn't tell me that they would be getting rid of it, again if I had known this was necessary I would have prepared for it).

After I just dropped money on a new battery you'd think they would believe me when I tell them it was on there but I digress...

I feel as though there are so many places in this city to have an iPhone battery replacement done expertly and I that this was one of them, but this opinion has changed. I'll go elsewhere next time.

Keep in mind that anything I mention took place during the covid pandemic:

While I was harsh on their performance in some emails, I had a great experience here. The staff are knowledgable, kind, and want to make sure you not only have a good experience all around, but also get what you want.

Thanks guys for working during these times, people like me appreciate it.

Just over emailing several different places, Jonathan at Carbon Computers was super helpful and kind which was the main reason why I decided to go with Carbon Computers. They at least tried, a bit. I had a Macbook from 2011 that I brought in, I had easily done my own diagnostics via the internet and found that I had to replace the logic board, and Macbooks from that year all had faulty logic boards. They advised me to get a whole new computer altogether, or my other option was to have it looked at for an $80 diagnostic fee, and have the logic board replaced somwhere around $800 which that money would go toward. I walked out, went to the mac store in Eaton centre and had the laptop looked at and the logic board replaced both for free. I get that it is an independent dealership, but as a licensed Mac retail store, perhaps the staff need to be better trained. I saved $850 by not using this store.

I took in my Macbook Air because the battery would lose charge extremely quickly and there was a warning that said "service battery". They didn't even open it up to try any troubleshooting but immediately said I need a new battery, which would be $185 plus a $39 service fee, plus taxes (so over $250 in total). I specifically asked if the $185 battery cost (not the service charge) was the same through an Apple store and they said yes. Instead of leaving it with them, I phoned Apple Support and they said that it would cost $169 plus tax in total (battery + service) at the Apple Store at Eaton Centre, but first walked me through the extremely simple step of performing an SMC reset which took about 30 seconds and immediately solved the issue. They also showed me how to (again, very simply) check the battery cycle count, which is only at 368 out of the max of 1000, which indicates it likely doesn't require a replacement. These are extremely simple steps that Carbon should have performed right away before trying to overcharge me for a new battery that I clearly didn't need. I came very close to being completely ripped off at this place.
