I took in my Macbook Air because the battery would lose charge extremely quickly and there was a warning that said "service battery". They didn't even open it up to try any troubleshooting but immediately said I need a new battery, which would be $185 plus a $39 service fee, plus taxes (so over $250 in total). I specifically asked if the $185 battery cost (not the service charge) was the same through an Apple store and they said yes. Instead of leaving it with them, I phoned Apple Support and they said that it would cost $169 plus tax in total (battery + service) at the Apple Store at Eaton Centre, but first walked me through the extremely simple step of performing an SMC reset which took about 30 seconds and immediately solved the issue. They also showed me how to (again, very simply) check the battery cycle count, which is only at 368 out of the max of 1000, which indicates it likely doesn't require a replacement. These are extremely simple steps that Carbon should have performed right away before trying to overcharge me for a new battery that I clearly didn't need. I came very close to being completely ripped off at this place.
