Banner Thunderbird Medical Center Review

I love everything about this medidal center! My families go to for an emergency. My youngest will be born here & the few times I had to come in the maternity ward they are always so gentle, informative, caring. Ive only had one issue with one nurse in the maternity ward named Jen. Had her twice - she was very rude, rolled her eyes at my grandma, never even let me fill her in on what was going on or how I was concerned. I now let them know upon arrival she is NOT allowed in my room. They respect my patients rights. Other than that everyone is so friendly, the entire medical plaza is clean, cafeteria has really good food. You are in good hands if you have to come here pregnant, for an emergency, admit your children, whatever the reason this is the place to go & to be well taken care of!

Everybody will have their own opinions. My experience with my father being there was nothing less then exceptional! The nurses took great care of him and I am very pleased with what they did. They went above and beyond for him and the family! Thanks floor 3 Staff that worked with Mike Fritz.

I was scheduled for an induction on the 16th sep it s the 19th today.I called and they tell me the are no beds available. Still waiting...

ICU nursing staff completely unprofessional. You would think the staff in this area would be highly trained and they would understand human nature.

Basically worst hospital to go to in the United States of America. Seriously not joking.

Banner is the worst medical facility I have ever been to In My Life. Discharging people from the hospital, while they are still violently throwing up. Just to come back 3 hours later, and have to sit here in the waiting room for 3 more hours, just to be seen by a doctor again for help.

My youngest son Gage was in thunderbird behavioral center for two weeks not for drugs but because of behavioral issues and I don't believe I would of ever found a better place then this place they all were so very kind and understanding . Not only did they help my son they help me being a very concerned parent that I am to help me undersatand about mental health showed such love and compassion towards my son and my family through a very difficult time . They didn't act like it was just a job to them they actually really care about there patients. I will never forget the whole staff down there for everything they did for us . If you have a loved one and you want the best care possible then this is the place for sure .

My fiance came into the ER in extreme pain. Any person could see she was in horrific pain beyond explanation. Pain so bad that only fentanyl could subside it. What did they make her do? Wait 5 hours in the lobby. Triage was done poorly. Ended up staying in the hospital for over a week.

This place was fast. Has great doctors, food, and nice rooms.

I went to the ER because I felt I was having a stroke. Needless to say I was quite frightened. All the doctor kept saying was we see lots of strokes here and we know how to diagnose them. I was left on a gurney with no pillow or anything. Finally I asked for a pillow since my back was hurting so much. I was told they didn't have any. They did a CT scan and sent me on my way with paperwork on how to deal with headaches. Don't know why since my symptoms were dim vision etc no headache. I didn't trust the diagnosis so I went to my primary care who sent me for more complete imaging tests. Turned out I had had a stroke and most likely was having it when I was in the ER. So much for their proficiency in stroke care. Needless to say I have told all my family members I never want to go to that hospital again.

Ardecely at the intake counter in ER is an awful person! She was extremely rude! I checked my son and I in for the same genetic issue. Because he's a child I had to go to the pediatric side first I was told to check back in when finished in pediatric so I can get to a room and be seen but she had told me other people needed to be seen ahead of me! Are you kidding me?! I was checked in 1st! They can't treat you with your child but expect you to wait all over again even after you had gone through triage?! Absolutely ridiculous!!! This hospital needs to step up it's game, treat families at the same time and hire new, caring staff!

These people are liars, plain and simple. The staff is unprofessional on the floor but the worst part is their billing department. At no point in my dealings with this department did they ever tell the truth. We were charged for services never rendered and when we requested an audit of the bill they simply sat on it for two months and then sent the bill to collections. We requested the contact info for the board of directors and we're advised banner does not have a board of directors which a quick Google search shows is a lie. The next step is working with a lawyer as well as the state of Arizona. Whenever dealing with these people especially if they are attempting to defraud you and your insurance make sure to get names.

This hospital has no jurisdiction to take People kids. One American is a Corporation. Waited at the emergency room 4 hrs out in the sitting area horrible service they take for ever cramping with twins 14weeks and I m waiting more than 4 hrs for them to see me if something is wrong I m done with them

I had my baby back in June. She was born at 33 weeks at the time of her arrival the NICU was full they were able to keep my baby at that hospital till I was able to go home. They transferred her to banner estrella NICU they told me they would pay my ambulance bill not to worry about the cost. So when I got the bill in from the ambulance I called them they said they had no record of them saying they would pay it. After back and forth phone calls and them telling me they will look into it I'm stuck with the bill that is now in collections. So if you have a baby that needs to be transferred to make room for other babies make sure you get it in writing that they will pay the bills. Other then that issue I love the staff and doctors.

Im having chest pains. I need to be strong and then week I was at home before my blood results were read and nobody has an explanation on why I'm having chest pains I was told I can come back if I'm having chest pains on the paperwork I looked at the nurse and I said I'm still having symptoms and she said there's nothing that we can do for you I'm having all the symptoms of a heart attack can't afford to come back an hour later understanding you need a bed but I spent 5 hours in the hallway before I even got a room this staff downstairs was really kind and nice and sincere when I got upstarts kidna nice but treated me like a drugy its not right the heart monter was a moble one that wasn't even working and they discovered it 15min before i was realised.

The worst place in the world! If you can avoid coming here please do so. Not only is the wait super long the doctors are rude and don t genuinely care for their patients. My son was seen for 20 mins and I received bills close to 2,000. This place is seriously a joke and a total scam.

I was admitted into this hospital in February of 2016. They have the most amazing staff. As busy as they were in the ER , they had patience lined up in the hallways, the staff was so friendly and caring not only to me but my family. I ended up staying in the hospital for I think 9 days. The staff on the floor the nurses, respiratory technicians , dietary people, even the cleaning people went above and beyond. My husband stayed with me entire time and they would even ask him, if he wanted a pillow or blanket. Just in the last month I have been back to the hospital as an outpatient for some tests and I was treated so nicely by the receptionist, and the technicians. I would not want to go to any other hospital, to me you guys are all the best.

I waited 2 hours with bronchitis with my lil sister who had it too and after the 2 hours gone bye they just looked at my sister and not me and she didnt prescribed use with nothing she just said to buy stuff over the counter and left again for a long time again i would never come back to this hospital or recommend it.

Right now the worst. Crying in pain and left in a hallway not one nurse or doctor comes to check on you and the only person that asked if I was OK was a janitor. May 14 2016 at 2:30pm

Wishing I would had read reviews before ever going to this location. Now after receiving a bill I am seeing reviews with the same issue. I am being charged for MANY services that I denied up front and never received. A bill over $4000 of things that didn t happen?! Waiting to be contacted because I REFUSE to allow that and I will not be paying for something I didn t receive! I d rather just go to court. Ridiculous.

They got me in fast, have given me excellent care. My leg is healing nicely from diabetic ulcer. They have provided me with great information, and medicine. Only problem was not them, but the provider for supplies that insurance preferred.

I went to banner after 1st going to pv. Hospital. Pv didn't run any tests or better yet do anything to see if there might of been
Something/ more then what meets the eye. So I was discharged within hours And I actually left feeling worse then when I went in. Which lead to go to banner for a second opinion either I was crazy or Pv. Was
Pv. Ended up being the crazy one as soon as I got to banner I could tell with the urgency that it wasn't good. Banner ended up finding about . and Lots of medication. They told me I was very sick thought my whole body! Not to mention the staff and dr.s were beyond professional with an added sympathy, leaving me feeling stress free and confident that I'll be treated the best possible.

Always choose banner over anywhere else..............you won't be disappointed as a matter of a fact you'll be healthy and happier them before .

Had my now almost 3 year old here and had an amazing experience. It was a scheduled cesarean that went off without a hitch. The nursing staff kept me informed and tended to me and my baby for all of my needs in a timely manner. They were accommodating to my partner as well. I am about to have my third son (second time at this hospital) and I am super excited. If you are looking for an amazing OB ask for Doctor KOON. He is the man!

They ignore us in the hallway. Took my mom to this hospital they had us waiting in the hallway for more than 6 hrs. On the other hand they had this other patients who arrive after us in the hall but when they had an empty room in front of us they put the orher patiet who came after us maybe because it was white dont know just seem so racist

This hospital needs a zero, they do not care, they do not act as if things are an emergency. I ve been here twice and both times I ve sat for 4-5 hours without getting a room or any type of care. They are very snobby when you ask them about the wait time. They act as if they are doing you a favor, like it s not their job or something you or your insurance pay for. I do not recommend this place to anyone. EVER. The staff are a**holes and the service is awful.

If I could give the ER 0 stars, I would. I went for severe (all of these symptoms are severe btw) nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and bloody diarrhea. I went to the ER at about 5 am, didnt get checked in till around 6, and meanwhile I was puking my guts out in the waiting room and none of the staff came to my aid. I got into a room around 6:30. On the bed was just two sheets.... not even a pillow. So I used my shirt as a pillow (they gave me a gown).They took my blood immediately so I thought it was going to go smoothly, I was wrong. The nurse told me if I needed to know where the bathroom is to press the nurse button which I did multiple times, she ignored them all. So I finally just got up and found it myself. They took me to imaging for a CT around 7:30. Which I was happy about because that seemed to be very fast, but it gets worse. I m in the room and the tech told me they couldn t do my CT at the time because my labs were pending, which I understand you don t want to do a CT when the lab results weren t in. So they took me back. Two hours later I asked my nurse if my lab results were in, they were. Another hour passed and the nurse came back to tell me they haven t done the CT because they didn t do a pregnancy test. I guess that s not standard procedure there to take a pregnancy test at first there but whatever. I gave them a urine sample, which my nurse sat on the tray in my room for about an another hour. Then my doctor came in and asked me if I had me CT done, which they should know if I had it done or not. Finally around 11:30 they took me to imaging and I got my CT done. (This is the part that makes me the most angry) The doctor didn t even come to tell me my diagnosis till 1:45 pm. The whole entire time I was waiting for the doctor I was crying because I just wanted to know if I needed surgery or not (they were very sure it was appendicitis at first). They prescribed me antibiotics, and no nausea medication. I got there at 5 am and didn t get out till 2 pm. They said if I keep experiencing my symptoms or got worse to come back. I refused to, instead I went to urgent care and was finally prescribed nausea medication. Then yesterday I went to my primary doctor and she asked me if at the ER if they took a stool sample to tell which kind of infection I have, and when I told her no, she had a look of confusion on her face. I haven t been able to eat solids for a week now, I ve lost 20 pounds and today I m finally able to hold water down. I only went there because banner hospitals are the only hospitals my dads insurance covers, and it was the closest banner hospital from where I live. Don t go there if you, a family member, or friend is driving you there. Banner thunderbird is extremely understaffed, and the staff they do have is rude and seems to not care about you at all. This place is also very dirty. Don t go there. 0/5 stars.

I had a terrible experience there. Left me alone in a tiny cubicle still in a neck brace for hours. Than when they found out my insurance covered all xrays, the doctor on duty pressured me into getting a full body cat scan even though I didn't want all that radiation exposure. I asked for an ultrasound and he refused and said he would not treat me unless I got the full scan. He was a total jerk and obviously they are only out to make as much money from insurance as possible. 6 hours and they wouldn't even give me a?drink of water. A terrible primitive facility and uncaring insensitive employees.

I have been at slow hospitals but this is the slowest!! It took three hours to get me to an ER room even knowing I had DVT in my arm!! It took another hour (total of 3) to get any pain relief! They checked on me in another hour and decided I needed to spend the night ... It took a total of 7 hours to get me to a room!!! They missed two of my medications that were to be taken that evening!! Spoke with the Doctor this am and he said they were going to do a CT scan and blood test and then discharge me .. I spoke with him at 8:00am and its after noon right now .. Still no CT scan!! Got the blood a couple hours ago!! I should have been discharged hours ago!!!!! Still here but I do appreciate Banners quick response below!! I am here still waiting 5hours after seeing the doctor at 8 this morning!!!! I gave you my room ... Come talk to me!!!!

Saved my sons life! He caught coronavirus and was so ill. The doctors and nurses were great. I will always be eternally grateful

I was brought in to the er and the nurses have already stated it's a slow night. . .it's now been 2 hours and still nothing. They made me pee and took blood to see if I was pregnant. 2 hours later they still haven't come back with results. Um. I knew in 2 min. So I'm leaving. This is ridiculous

My wife recently had heart surgery here and even though she was in a lot of pain, the staff was awesome. So we would like to mention them...

This is day 2 of coming to this er. Yesterday I waited 4 and a half hours and only got as far as triage. I'm a single mother of 2 and had to get home to my babies. So despite being in pain since Sunday I went home hoping it might pass or get better.

After not lifting anything or doing much of anything in fear of making it worse I had come back so I can get some relief or answers as to what is wrong with my back.

I'm not sure if they are just really short staffed but being a big hospital and a well populated area I'm confused as to why it is taking so long for the er wait times. I'm not bleeding to death but the pain has gotten worse and sitting in a waiting room for hours on end certainly hasn't made it any better.

With this many reviews of horrible wait times why has this issue not been addressed?

Staff are horrible they dont disinfect the rooms night staff sleep at night and dont ever walk in to check up on patiants i went in with one minor illness 5days later still there they do over dose the patients there are blood on chairs they dont change sheets on beg while u at thunderbird its a frightening feeling being here its like am i going to die here they really dont help people here at all the sick keeps getting sicker

Worst experience, went to ER staff said their systems were rebooting and they were taking longer than usual, so they proceeded to sit there gosiping while we were asked to wait in line for our turn all the while there was atleast 3 nurses in clear view that were on their phones none doing anything that looked important. Once the system came back online the admitting lady donna proceeded to tell us there wasnt anything she can do, that she is only doing her job, while still making us wait while she gathered all the information needed. Heaven forbid someone is bleeding out or really critical and goes in to this ER they might not make it in get attended. Horrible experience, un-attentive and un-caring staff will never be using this hospital

Worst hospital ever I wouldn t recommend going here at all ! My son was bleeding excessively after he had a circumcision He was in so much pain they were not doing anything about it !!! He was crying nonstop for a good hour and I was rushed here with my son in the ambulance! DO NOT GO HERE and I was on the pediatric side !!!!! I m so disappointed in this hospital I should of told them to take me to Phoenix child s hospital

There should be another low quality name for poor/fair like terrible/rude. My mom was released without a wheelchair and the nurse new it.

Horrible!!!!!! I been here since 3pm it's 8 pm and still haven't been seen!!!! One of the female nurse was sooo rude!!!!! And I'm still here with a swollen finger !!!!! And I can't get checked out!!!!! I'm never coming back!!!!!!!

Been here 6 hours they gave me a bed in the hallway across from 6 empty rooms said they were admitting me only to have me wait two additional hours for a room when I asked the nurse why I haven't got a room they shrugged there shoulders and did absolutely nothing my Ivs were empty for three hours before anyone came to change them this hospital sucks

I had my first child there and had an amazing experience from the cleaning people to the doctors.
I was lucky enough to have amazing nurses during and after delivery as well as in my stay afterwards. Can't thank you enough for all your hard work and dedication specially when we are at our worst moments in life and our mood is not the best. Thank you Dr. Galasso for delivering my daughter and been such an amazing doctor.

Brought my daughter to the ER today experiencing bad stomach pain that needed attention quickly, not 6 hours of a wait! Looked Like something out of a bad movie! There were people everywhere no seats open, this included a very sick woman in the entrance moaning that she was extremely sick and throwing up in a bucket! There was a man with that had been sitting in a wheelchair complaining he had no idea why he had a neck brace on and didn t come In for anything related to needing it! He was there five hours waiting and wanted it off so he could leave. we tried to check in and we re told it was a 6 hour wait and asked us if we were sure we wanted to stay? Meanwhile a worker told us to find a seat and move from where we were standing because they were taking people like herds for blood tests and bringing them back to the waiting room again
another lady coughing so badly had been there since 2:30 That afternoon and it was now 8pm we sat there still not helped, I have never seen anything like that.
I asked how much longer to be seen because my daughter was doubled over in pain and they told me they had no idea but it would at least be a 6 hour wait.
The entire time I sat there the woman in the doorway of the emergency was literally standing and vomiting and saying she was sick for at least two hours and nobody paid attention to her worst treatment I ve ever witnessed not only for my daughter and I,
but for everyone else trying to get help! I took my daughter out of there and found Another hospital that treated her immediately, I Won t be back !

Kept waiting for hours. sign says blood work takes 60 minutes I waited 4 hours. While the staff is kind enough I'll be going to other hospitals because it's very clear that there is no concern for the patient's time. Intentionally vague statements make me feel like I'm being given the the run around.

When I arrived at 7:30 in the morning there was no one in the waiting room. They got me right back which I was impressed with. They were very kind about that. When I went into the back after getting all checked in there was only two other people in rooms. It took four hours to get an x-ray, a shot for inflammation, and pain pills. My largest issue with them is after I told them I could not have Percocet that is exactly what they gave me for my pain. I threw up all the way home and have been nauseous ever since. Paying attention to your patients drug allergies should be of your utmost concern. I will never go back to Thunderbird Hospital again.

Spent 4 days in openfloor floor. Staff ratio poor. I bathroom for 40 patents to use.hasd.to.wait on my self. Never. Got any thing I need. Tv didn't work. Aske to have a bath x3. With no assistance.

Took me 3 hours to be admitted, they didn t go in order of who arrived and every time I tried asking the doctor a question she looked like she was in a rush and kept trying to walk out. Horrible would not recommend for immediate emergency s

Wish I could give no stars. If I didn't get my beautiful daughter from the experience it would've been entirely negative. If you're an expecting father don't expect to be treated with respect or dignity for that matter. The nurses immediately separate you from your wife and ask her if you're abusive. My wife was in labor and the nurses disregarded her pleas for an epidural for so long that she had to give birth 100% without it. When I asked to see my daughter the nurse looked at me and said "I could take her for longer if that's what you'd like" no joke as an excited, expecting couple this place was a torture chamber.

Had a baby here a month ago. He is beautiful and healthy and I am so happy for that, but my experience here was absolutely awful. I was treated so horribly I still can t believe it. I arrived in labor and I was so hot that I fully undressed More

Went to Ob Triage 12/14 around 12p to get checked out, Tech sitting at desk did not bother looking up and rudely asked what I was there for. She made me feel very unwelcome and as though I was an inconvenience. I completed my registration and was told to wait for the tech to room me, waiting was not the issue, the fact that my husband and I just stood in the middle of the hall without her acknowledging us (again, just staring down) until she was done with whatever she was doing is . A little communication goes a long way, something she should definitely work on.

The nurse I had, I believe her name was Jodie, was very thorough and helpful. She made me feel at ease and let me know what was going.

Avoid at all costs. Don't waste ur time. This er is No help. I've been here countless times. Never have gotten an actual room always been in a hall way. Even when puking in a bucket. They say one thing then do another. Went in with flu symptoms. They gave me everything I was doing at home and then Basicly kicked me out without even taking the heart monitor off! Didn't wheel me out like they wheeled me in. Asked several nurses about finding another patient they stuck their noses in the air and had ma walk way up front to have to walk all the way back where I was. While being sick! They don't care about their patients!
I left this hospital feeling worse then when I go there!

The absolutely worst ER, Ive ever been in. I will never go back. Triage is completely inept and the dictors and nurses refuse to provide care simply because they dont want to. They treat you very badly, gossip about you and laugh at you. They refuse to get any history or medication list and refused a physical exam. They also put patients with compromised immune systems in the waiting room with patients who have contagious illnesses.

I've worked for BTMC as a CNA for over 1 year now, I love my job & I Love the people I work with. It is my personality and I have found my career till I retire. I LOVE HELPING OTHERS!

Our son passed away here at this hospital. As a mother I will never get past losing him, having a loss to this degree is something that we as humans can not physically comprehend or understand because the pain is so unbearable. I wake up every night thinking it was all just a nightmare, but it wasnt. I wish I could go back in time and have just one more minute with him, i just want to hold him one last time and I would give anything for it. I wish I could show him how much I love him,although I know he knew how much we loved him I just wish I had more time with him.

Now your probably wondering what this has to do with a review of the hospital.

On the day our son passed we say at the hospital for several hours as tests were ran to try to get us answers, a hospital social worker sat with us as well others. But the doctor never made time to come talk to us as parents, we were told "he has no answers" and the doctor refused to speak to us. He never once made any time to talk to us at all. At first I was upset but numb and extremely emotional however over time this has never left my mind, how could an emergency room doctor not make time to speak to the parents of one of his patients who just passed? The social worker tried to be supportive however nothing would have made the pain any less that day or any day going forward. But as a person I think this review should let you know that the doctor never once spoke to us all we saw were trauma nurses and even as we sat in the quiet room no doctor ever spoke to us, even after repeated requests the doctor refused.

I love everything about the hospital the staff and the ER process how fast it is compared to to other Banner Hospitals

If you love someone who needs help, please do not take her here. There is one nurse in the entire behavioral health wing at any given time. I brought a loved one to this facility and, although we alerted the staff of her special medical needs, they ignored and neglected her for hours. We repeatedly asked them to contact her pharmacy so they could provide her prescription medications, and they never did get around to it. She is a smoker and (because it's a "non-smoking campus") we asked if they could please provide her with a nicotine patch. Hours later, they had neglected in do so, and she was suffering from nicotine withdrawal, and still being ignored. For quite a few hours she asked if she could take a shower, and when they finally allowed her to, she wasn't supplied with soap, shampoo or conditioner. Hour upon hour, the staff allowed her anxiety to escalate and neglected to see to her basic needs. My impression is that the hospital itself is understaffed and overpopulated. As I walked through the halls, they were lined everywhere with patients on gurneys waiting to be adequately treated. There is just very little evidence that anyone I encountered at Banner Thunderbird really cares about their patients at all.

I HAD KNEE SURGERY AT 730a ON THE 2nd FLOOR ORTHO UNIT THERE WAS VERY LITTLE WASTED OR WAIT TIME ONCE THEY TOOK ME BACK. THE SURGEON DR CHIANG ANETHESIOLOGIST DR ANDO AND THE NURSES WERE POLITE PROFESSIONAL AND FUN.
ESPECIALLY NURSE ANGELA I LOVE YOU SWEETHEART.

My fiance was brought in after a horrific motorcycle accident and unfortunately did not make it, but this wonderful hospital and staff tried everything they could including brain surgery to give him every chance. The Nuro Surgeon, Trauma Doctor and Nuro ICU nursing staff were so compassionate and caring during this difficult time. I am forever greatful my Scott was brought to this hospital after his accident. They treated him with such respect and dignity as he left this life. And they were very comforting to me and our children as we struggled through losing our Scott.

Despicable treatment of patients with EDS, MS, and chiari malformation. Medically discharges patients without resolution of issues, rude doctors and nurses. Evident medical malpractice in numerous cases. Steer clear.

The care here has been ok. The doctors have been good with my treatment plan. Some nurses are friendly and attentive, some aren't. The only real negative I have is being stuck with a broken bed. The mattress they use in them work on an air pump. Mine is broken, and stays constantly on. So if you have ever used and automatic pump for an air mattress that is what it sounds like. So sleeping with that noise is not an option. My nurse told me they wouldn't do anything so we unplugged it.

Update: They changed out my bed so I'm super happy with the prompt care I received.

Horrible horrible hospital. You will die here before you get an answer from anyone. The doctors are no where near on the same page.

I normally don't write reviews, but I feel obligated. I was seen in the Emergency room on 8/1 for a severely swollen wrist. Now I told them I have stage 4 ckd, and that I had done nothing to cause trauma to my wrist. I shared with them, that I also have suffered from gout before. The doctor said we will do labs to check your kidneys, and urich acid levels. After waiting for about 2 hours for someone to draw my blood, then another hour and a half for the results. They forgot to check my urich acid levels. When I told the nurse that the said he was doctor was going to check it, she said, they must have forgot, then she said let me go call. She came back and, then said you can just get it done at your kidney doctor when you see him or her. Then billling came in with a bill for over a $1,000 dollars with my Insurance! #STAYAWAY #SMH

Called to speak to my Grandma who was in the E.R. and they played phone tennis with me until finally I reached a woman who told me there's no phones in the E.R. rooms. That's bull I've been to this hospital countless times and there's phones in every room! She was extremely rude saying she didn't have time for me calling for my sick Grandma and told me well you can just come down, but unfortunately I have no vehicle right now.This hospital along with the entirety of health care in Arizona has gone down the drain! You want good healthcare and people who actually want to help you, well you're better off moving to another state!

My mother is currently in the CVICU and was admitted just a little over 2 weeks ago. Every nurse has been spectacular from Dee to Jessy, to the RT, David. The have honestly been such a wonderful support system taking the time to explain things and always available for questions. I think they need to be recognized for their stellar nursing and RT care!!

One bad experience we have had was the nurse Angela. She is extremely rude. She makes us feel as if we are bothering her every time we ask questions, she is abrupt in speaking with us and is very condescending. My mother is in critical condition and the family has lots of questions. My sister and I asked to speak to the ICU doctor and she told us "the doctors already been in here to speak with other family members and they will only speak to one family member about your mothers condition and to basically get the information from the other family member" I know that not to be the case working in a hospital. There are care managers who can put together a meeting to meet with the family so that we are all on the same page. I feel like Angela has the worst bedside manner. I work as a Clinic Manager in another state and if any of my nurses treated patients' families the way she treats us I would have written them up. So very unprofessional, it's as if she is unhappy with her job and takes it out on the family members making people feel very uncomfortable.

Wow. I'm sorry about the bad reviews I see here. That was not my experience. I visited the Wound Center and worked with Ashley Forrester LPN. I was supposed to be seen by a Dr. Dhillon, but after encountering Mrs. Forrester at the wound clinic on 12th street, and her telling me she was moving to Glendale, I said "See you there". Mrs Forrester is one of those "tell it like it is" people. She worked with me when she was heavily pregnant, and had a workload which would leave other people insane. But through it all, she was funny, sharp, caring and professional. The people that worked around her were a dream. Two stand out that worked closest with me. I'm going to find the paperwork and update this review with their names. They took extra care of me and tried their best to fight I-Don't-Care1st to get me the things they felt I needed. They along with the rest of the staff, spoiled me rotten. I was actually sad when my care was over and I had to ring the celebratory bell for the first & last time. Treat them right, and they will go to the moon and back for you. Cop attitude, you'll still get service, but it won't be the experience I had.

I visited the ER last night. Checking in with the front office was fast and they were very friendly!!! I was taken back to a bed within 20 minutes. The nurses and medical assistant in the back were another story. I sat in that room for 4 hours only being seen when they took my blood, felt my back, and wheeled me off to do a cat scan. I was told by a nurse that she would bring in something for the pain and she never brought anything. For 4 hours I sat there listening to them talk about what they were going to buy from a shopping catalog and antagonize the belligerent man in the next room.During my visit I signed up to receive text message updates about my bloodwork etc...I got a message saying that I was being checked out and a nurse would be in shortly to discharge me. An hour and a half later I was discharged. The nurse didnt even read through the papers with me;told me to just sign and I could read them at home. Being 1:30 in the morning and disappointed beyond belief with their care, I signed the paperwork and left. And I will never return.

They gave my daughter wrong results of her ultrasound and could have killed my unborn grandchild. NEGLECT ON THE RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT COULD HAVE COST A LIFE!!! I will never step foot in this hospital again!

Literally the worst hospital. they have no concern for patient privacy or if the patient has a pleasant experience. I understand it s an er and nobody is happy to be there but after spending 10 hours there and accomplishing nothing I will not be returning.

I took my child to be seen 4 hrs waiting to be seen just in the E.R for adults then got called back cool pediatric department that was good....I will never go to this hospital rude stuff even got video off stuff been so rude and talking about patents been seen at the hospital there I thought stuff can't talk about patents behind there's back I will post it up on Facebook ,Instagram, I know it's against the law talking about patients behind your back especially being rude (WE AS PATIENTS HAVE RIGHTS) is Miguel / Matthew the owners because there's the only ones responding to the reviews???????? I have never had a more horrible experience at a hospital. The triage woman told me that from an emergency standpoint, there is probably nothing we can do because it s not an emergency . Do you think it was her place to say this? Is she a doctor? Does she know what s wrong with me? Does she somehow perform a magical diagnosis as she does triage?

I have a large mass that formed on my lower back, that I m in extreme pain for and I was already visiting with my regular doctor. Obviously, i felt I had no other option. I went to work today and it got 5x worse. Trust me, I didn t want to sit 3.5 hours at the emergency room (that s what security was saying was the standard wait time) after two hours and people who had minor issues (I know because we sat there talking) cake and went ahead of me, I know that she left me to rot at the bottom of the list. I will never go back to this hospital, I d rather be sent to baptist or St. Joe s, ACROSS town.

Fabulous treatment. Currently a patient as I type this and I've been very impressed by almost everyone I've talked to...except one lady in the room service/meal ordering dept.
I placed a breakfast order at about 745 and was told it would be brought up in about an hour. Cool, I can wait that long.
Informed my nurses and was given my insulin at about 830 expecting to my food to arrive soon. Boy were we wrong!
Called down to see what was going on and was told I didn't even order until after 9 and then the lady argued with me when I said I have a time stamp on a text that says 750, after I told my mom I had ordered.
I then cancelled my order and hung up the phone...10 minutes later somehow the food they hadn't started was being delivered. Or more likely it was someone else's tray since I could smell bacon and I don't eat bacon.

Stay away from this place. ICU, 2nd floor, South tower. My rating is not one star. It is less than zero. Doctors great, a couple of RNs great. The rest of the RNs and staff are HORRIBLE!!! Please heed my advice: stay away!

We ve had nothing but great experiences at this hospital. It is our hospital choice, and always will be! Our son spent a few weeks in the Thunderbird NICU after he was born prematurely, and I couldn t have asked for a better experience considering the situation.

I had to take care of my two children while they ran up the bill on my wife, they explained to me that the bill would be settled and proceeded to waste over three hours. Turns out not only was it not settled, but everything else about the bill/insurance turned out to wrong due to negligence. We are left with an uncovered bill. They did not administer any treatment or care, just tests (unwanted and un needed) they took advantage of me and my families situation. They don't care about people. I really thought health care would be better, but it's third rate, they only care about revenue. I'll go further to the other hospital if my family needs it. I'm new to the valley and I'm glad it wasn't something serious.

I had to wait 3 hours just to get seen in the emergency room. All I got was an x-ray and was told it was just a contusion on my leg I went another hospital it turn it out that I have a torn ligament. Talk about neglect what a shame banner was the best hospital when I was in the ER I could just hear the nurse complain about the company that they get in trouble for going to lunch and they do not get back up. No wonder it takes them 3 hours to get someone back when they do they have to give 10% on what they can do for you. Nurse are treated horrible there for us patients get treated the same way.

When I had my surgery there, the service was awesome. The staff was great, the food was good, the recovery room was perfect. My second surgery was at a different hospital and I will not go back to that one. Banner Thunderbird is the only one I will go to if needed.

..Is this even a hospital? Like seriously, out of every hospital I ve been in, in my life, this is the absolute worst.

Worst hospital I ever been toto. Took my son when he was 2 weeks old because he had purple finger nails and trouble breathing. The ER sent him home STATING HE WAS FINE . that same night I took him to goodnight pediatric and they told to take him to phoenix children hospital as soon as we got there they rushed us back and couldn't believe Banner Thunderbird sent away a sick child my son had sever phemonia. Unfortunately we had to take my son again at 5 months due to high fever the lady at the registered is rude as heck . announced my personal business to the entire lobby. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HIPPA PRIVACY. when my son got taken back two uneducated nurses started poking my some multiple times with a needle to draw his blood. And the whole time the one nurse was training another nurse . like really my son is not a freaking orange to practice on I informed the nurse 3 times I want some one else to draw his blood that nows what they are doing. I'm sorry but my son was screaming and he was sick with high fever any parent will stand up for there child . the nurse ignored me and stabbed him the third time at that point I was so angry and mad. I told her she was done . I wanted to speak to the head director of pediatric of course I got ignored once again I had to tell the lady that handles insurances. That came in the room to get the head boss of the department at that point 30min later the lady tried to tell me my son was complicated patient and pediatric are hard some times . first off Wow wow wow. Really so your tellintme you poke every pediatric patient multiple times nope not happening with this mom. My child suffered enough. Then the manger of the department tells me I'll get some who is good for you but if she caint do it then there is nothing we can do. Long story short the lady who was well trained and obviously good with kids got the stick in one try . so how come two nurses torchering my son for almost an hour the manager didn't have a problem with and yet a well experience nurse did it in one try we could have avoided the whole situation if the lady didn't go against my WILL......... WHEN I ASKED 3 TIMES GIVE ME ANOTHER NURSE. I INFORMED THE MANGER SHE DIDN'T SEEM TO HAVE A PROBLEM. I SERIOUS DISLIKE THIS HOSPITAL AND STAFF THEY HAVE NO PATIENT CARE AT ALL . THEY MISS DIAGNOSED THE PATIENT. THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE REALL DOCTORS. WORKING. WORST HOSPITAL EVER WILL NEVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL AGAIN. RL

Had my baby here on May 11, 2018. All my nurses were extremely nice and very helpful with every need or request I had. Every shift rotation, each nurse had made reports to the new nurse coming in making it 10 times easier on us patients. A special thank you to all the nurses who helped me through the new process of becoming a new mom! Great staff! Great service! Hoping to be able to keep having my babies at this hospital!

Waited hours for help in room, 10 weeks later redoing the entire testing

A few weeks ago, our son had croup, on 5/21 he woke up at 4:00 in the morning having a hard time breathing. Our on call physician told us we should go to the ER. The staff including doctors and nurses were great, this is why Banner gets 2 stars as opposed to 1. We were there for an hour, they suctioned his nostrils and gave him a $35 medication. The amount they billed the insurance company? $1800. There is honestly no way those services should cost that much. Because we have a high deductible plan we were on the hook for over $1400. At no time was the cost of service transparent to us, the billing office has told us that the amount of time or services rendered during the visit are irrelevant, that the ER visit is based on a flat rate given the urgency of the condition. Our son was not rushed back, we had to wait, not a long time, but I would say of the hour we spent there, about 75% was waiting. Banner is a clear example of what's wrong with healthcare in America, lIt truly pains me to think of all the families that could have a similar experience and face the choice of seeking medical care for their child or taking their chances to wait for their physician or urgent care to see them. He was starting to feel better during our wait, how hard would it be for the staff to tell us, "Before we take you back, you should know that we will bill your insurance company $1800."? If what the billing department told me was true, that there is a flat rate, this should be possible. The lack of transparency is clearly intentional due to the hospital counting on the non elasticity of emergency care. It's bad enough to be scared for the health of your child, but to be financially taken advantage of adds to the negative experience. My advice? See if you can get into a 24hr urgent care, and avoid the extortion of all Banner hospitals if you can.

Took my wife to the emergency room there because she was experiencing all the symptoms of appendicitis. We waited in the emergency waiting room for than 2 hours. While my wife was bent over in pain not knowing if her appendix was going to rupture or not. They were taking junkies and treating them first just so they wouldn't have to see them in the waiting room. That's unreal .

Minus the one horrid experience i had here (being accused of being on meth and a liar to my face by the doctor because i was a 21 year old with piercings and colored hair)
All of my experiences after that incident have been nothing but amazing. I sincerely hope they fired that other doctor. Currently here for reoccurring asthma flare ups and even without having a current flare up they are trusting and caring and are still taking the action they would be taking if i was in a current flare up.
The triage and check in workers are equally as nice. Which other hospitals ive been to have lacked.

If no stars was an option I would choose it, I wrote a review (that I cannot find now) about a month ago about fighting for my medical records. They were extremely hard to get just because I m not 18 and they were very rude about it when I called for them. I did eventually get them through approval from my mother. That being said the visit back on November 21st 2017 was quite pleasant, however, the nurses were not completely honest with me. I had a CT scan done and the nurse or maybe doctor (I was pretty out of it) came in to tell my parents what didn t show on the CT but they didn t tell us what was found. They were looking for swelling in appendix which came back fine. What did not come back fine was after fighting for my medical records and getting them nearly 4 MONTHS later I read the report to find out I have a hernia! They DID NOT mention this AT ALL!!! I had four months of not knowing four months of a very active life and wondering why my stomach pain was slowing increasing but putting it off because I thought to myself I was just in the ER if they found something I would know . Because you would think they would tell you about anything serious but NO!! I will NEVER go back to this hospital after this, if they aren t going to tell you something as big as that then who knows what else they re not telling you.

Poor service.... when i needed something, i pressed the call light of course I wouldn t if I didn t need anything but kept ignoring me. Awful service

I'm 73 yrs. old and am a retired R.N. I was admitted to this hospital from the E.R. after a my arms and legs went limp at home. A seizure was ruled out, so I was transferred to medial from neurology. No diagnosis could be
found so no code could be applied to Medicare. I had to be moved. My gait was unsteady. I was moved to the basement where the rooms are very close together and I had claustrophobia. I was never given bedtime medications and was suddenly moved around 10 p.m. to a nursing home from hell. I had been told I was going to rehab. for gait strengthening.
the nursing home would not give me my bedtime meds. I have 7 joints replaced and am a survivor of both breast and liver cancer. I am on addictive pain medication. I went into full withdrawal and could easily have died. It was one of the worst experiences in my life and could easily have been avoided.

I have to say that last Feb., I fell and had a brain hemorrhage and got excellent care at this facility. Diana Woodruff

Being from out of state and having a medical emergency is scary enough. Unfortunately I had to be admitted to this hospital three times for the same issue that is still a mystery. I'm a retired nurse, in fact I was a nurse manager at a level 1 trauma center and I have never been treated worse. The ED is subpar. I had a fall risk on my bracket, they made me go to the rest room unattended and I fell, strike one. My husband had to "paint the scenario" to the ED doctor to get me admitted, strike two. My floor doctor was rude, condecending, uncaring, and actually combative with me and I assume that it's because she is in over her head. I know that when I return to my home state my medical needs will be attended to professionally by real doctors that actually care. Oh and since I fell under Banners care the legal aspects of "negligence" will be attended to as well. Stay away from this hospital at all costs and that is a professional opinion.

This has been the worst experience at a hospital. I am here visiting the emergency room and the nurse who came to talk to us was very rude and condesensing. I will never come back to this place again. The burse acted like we are here for nothing basically. Why would we be at the ER unless something is wrong. Plus they have rooms available and yet no one had cleaned them and they have us sitting in a chair in the hallway. If rooms are available clean them so patients don't have to sit in a hallway. If i could give this place zero stars I would. The nurses name was Sarah. Worst nurse ever.

I brought my son for in the emergency room at BANNER THUNDERBIRD due to non stop couching, having hard time to breathe and temperature of 103.7. Upon arrival in the ER, we were told by the guard to wait (like 5mins.) no nurses, or MA's to assist and triage.
We were called by the receptionist and interviewed about our insurance info etc.
I asked the lady, "Is this normal in your ER facility that you will take the insurance info. first etc... before you triage your patient, this is ER right?" The lady said, "yes this is ER, and all hospitals do this before being seen by the nurses" I said, "in the ER?" She replied annoyingly, "YES". I said, "I'm sorry it's our first time here and this is kind a new to me..."

WOW! ER no medical people will triage you right away, they will ask for your insurance information first before treatment?

DIDN'T LEARN MY LESSON FROM THE FIRST TIME WHEN I BROUGHT MY SON TO BANNER URGENT CARE!
BANNER ITSELF IS BIG BUT THEY HAVE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

BTW the STAFF inside, THE DOCTOR, THE NURSE and PULMONARY SPECIALIST are AMAZING!

I will edit my rate from 1-3 stars because of them. Only that TRIAGE issue and how they treat you in the lobby...

Excellent treatment all services were professional and courteous.

Let me clarify (this place gets 0 stars. I gave it 1 star so I could write this review).

Came in to seek some assistance with the depression I had. Within 5 minutes of checking in at ER, I was written in as "Homicidal/Suicidal". I have NEVER been hospitalized for depression and certainly NEVER felt the need to take another person's life, just my own. Anyhow, I was security scanned with my bags confiscated. I spent the next 24 hours even more depressed, than before I voluntarily walked in. I listened to the unprofessional Staff talk about me, others and went through several other horrible things.

This was the beginning of an 8 day journey YES 8 days, I was hospitalized for seeking help. I was threatened by one of the head Psychs. She said if I didn't cooperate, she'd petition the court to force me to stay. I came to them. Not the other way around. Prisoners in Norway are treated better than Mental Health Patients in the United States.

Making a long story short, during my hospitalization, I met individuals who had been hospitalized before. As we conversed, they believe I was admitted simply because of the "good" insurance I have. As I thought about it, it made sense. Plenty of people threaten their own lives and don't end up in Psych wards. Not to my surprise, after 8 days in the Psych ward, the Doctors wanted me to stay longer. $$$$$ is all they saw. I'm truly convinced. They didn't care about my Mental Health.

I wrote a documentary about my entire stay. From the ER fiasco, until my discharge day and the toll it took on me days after. I hope to upload it to a couple of Media sites. Maybe someone will see it and contact me. I'd love to tell my story.

After my experience, I understand why so many people don't seek treatment in Arizona. Never again will I.

Banner Thunderbird, YOU ARE THE WORST!!! Fire everyone in your Psych ward Center and gets some real Police Officers. Rent a Cops, should be reserved for Childrens' birthday parties!

I gave birth to my son here in March of this year. I had a very pleasant experience. The staff was very kind and helpful and made me feel at ease as I am a first time mom. I am happy that I chose Banner Thunderbird!

Our daughter just had our first grandchild here. Unfortunately the only reason they got a 3 was the staff in Labor and delivery was wonderful. The staff in the post partum rooms however. Did not give any advice to a new mother and had no beside manner in our experience.

Brought my son 4 month old in for breathing troubles.
No answers and had us sitting for 5 hours.
The place is extremely dirty and the physician assistant was beyond rude. Don t bring your child here unless you want a large bill and no help for your little one...
