I will never again go to Banner Thunderbird. If zero stars was an option, that would be mine. My son was admitted on a Sunday and discharged on the following Wednesday. By Friday morning, CPS was at my front door. My son was diagnosed with the flu, which I soon after contracted. My family and I were taking turns being at the hospital so I could rest, I was specifically told by my son's hospitalist that it would be best if I did not go to the hospital because of how sick I was (103 fever, nausea, vomiting, coughing) and because he was "doing just fine". I went back anyways and wore a mask the whole time there, no one was going to tell me to stay away from my son. A report was filed against me for neglect. When CPS did a home visit, they decided the report was unsubstantiated. My home is clean, kid-friendly and my son is a happy and healthy 3 year old. I think it is wrong that I was told by medical staff to stay home and rest (mind you, either my mother, my aunt, my grandfather, or a combination of the three were always there, my son was never left alone), and then a CPS case was filed against me for neglect. I am so disappointed in the Banner group.

They have not even posted my problem with this hospital it's a good hospital but the nurses are bad especially on the third floor they make up stories. The nurse is on the first floor awesome they do the job right they don't give me problems at all

be caution on going to or taking your love ones to this hospital:

I just recently had a baby on Aug 31st at Banner Thunderbird everything went ok I got discard on Sept 2nd. Two days later started having concerning abdominal pains and a little more heavy bleeding when I spoken to a nurse at Banner she made it seem like it was ok because I just had a baby but the pain grew worst and I knew something was wrong so I had to go to another hospital for a second opinion. thank God I did because they found a huge piece of the placenta still left in me just growing a infection on my uterus walls and had to do a emergency surgery to remove it...right after i did contact my ob doctor to let them know what happen. non sympathetic of course and still act like it was normal and just prescribed me medication to stop the heavy bleeding... still in recovery from just having a baby and NOW having a infection cause by a doctor and NOT by a natural cause...I will NEVER go back to Banner.

Banner thunderbird has to be the worse hospital in the Phoenix area. How does it take 3 hours to get labs results back? How does it take 7 hours to admit someone with mental illness? Theyll have you lying in the hallway of the ER when there s rooms open, these ppl don t care about you. Their nursing staff has 0 work ethic, disrespectful and doctors are no help in ER center. If it s not life or death or you re not in dyer need period I suggest you go somewhere else.

Treated my mother rudely and accused her of trying to overdose. Then let her just walk out without a wheel chair, without a nurse, and an I.V. still hanging out of her arm. This all right after she nearly died because her kidneys and liver shut down causing her medications not to Pass through her body. She also had multiple siezures! How can these doctors and hospitals get away with this kind of treatment!

I came in this hospital multiple times and most recent times on 12/03 it was total disaster , You see a nurse practitioner and Doctor that come to see you spend only few minutes . The Doctor Staff do not care for your problem the do not listen or provide any sympathy for your issues you are just a number to them, The nurses are siting by desk are chatting about the their life texting on the phone one of the nurses was even making very unpleasant jokes on her patient ,The nursing staff do not care for call or patient that alarms is beeping or buzzers. It is insane that we are paying a large hospital bills that support people that do not deserve this pay.

Took my son to the emergency room with a screaming stabbing headache they told me it was a migraine pumped him full of drugs said he had to spend the night to get an MRI the next day I slept in a hard chair spend $15,000 that night to sleep there had to explain my sons situation 16 times to 15 different doctors All did nothing but pumped him full of drugs to keep him quiet nobody wanted to know why he had headaches just said he had migraines. Which I argued with because kids don t just wake up and have migraines for no reason . Then the neurologist comes and says the MRI was clear and that he was having rebound headaches from all the drugs and when I tried to argue with her until her that s impossible they started before we gave him migraine medication she gave me an attitude and told me I could go to a different neurologist . turns out or year later it s nerve pain if somebody would ve looked at his neck and said of just his brain they would ve seen that the C1 vertebrae was out of place pinching and his nerve unacceptable this hospital is the worst ! A simple x-ray is all he needed ! Never will I go to the hospital again !!!!!!!

Worst hospital, worst staff, worst experience. I went for breathing pain and it took 4 hours for a ct scan result and there I was still in pain with no answers on a stiff bed in a hallway listening to puking all night long leaving no comfort for any sleep! Perhaps I'll just stick to abrazo for all of my health care needs. I was there for 10 hours and was maybe checked on a couple times! Never again will I choose banner health, I should've learned a long time ago at Estrella the patterns are the same!

If I could give the ER 0 stars, I would. My daughter sat in the ER for more than 4 hours and and everyone, I mean EVERYONE, was called back, but her to the point she left. She felt no one cared about her and she ended up having a panic attack in the car after she left because she was so upset. This hospital is the WORST hospital EVER and I will never go back there again. She had a legitimate medical issue that required surgical intervention.

Excellent care. Was in labor and went to ER because I could not make it to St Joseph's. Delivered my baby within 20 mins and entire time nurses, nurses aides and doctors were caring, quick and very supportive during delivery. During the stay, the nurses were amazing. With the exception of a few staff members who were rude, I would recommend this hospital to family and friends. A few bad apples can't spoil the bunch. Every staff member from doctor to kitchen or housekeeping was friendly and always asked if we needed anything else. Would have loved to get more help with breastfeeding while I was a patient, but otherwise was a great experience.

After I was in the hospital for two days, my husband and I left the maternity ward just with the overnight bag, we did not look like parents. My perfect pregnancy ended at 32 weeks, and my twin babies were to be held in the NICU for the next 2 months. We were completely heart broken and unprepared for the weeks that fallowed their birth. Watching the babies hooked on monitors, IV's with TPN, was hard. But the staff was so compassionate, caring and supportive through out up's and down's. At first they allowed us to touch them, than they involved us in our babies daily care. Once transferred to feeding and growing area, the nurses, physical therapy, and speech thought us how to feed, to change, and to comfort our babies. One nurse even called me at home to remind me that I should bring breast milk for the babies, another nurse, interrupted her busy night just so I could give my babies a bath. I was pleased to have the staff involve me in my babies daily care. Thank you everyone for the most amazing experience I ever had! Thank you for giving me the tools I needed To know in order to care for my babies at home.

I have never been treated better. Went in with pain in my ribs. Come to find out my gallbladder was infected and needed to be removed. Arrived on Halloween, surgery and release the day after.

I gave birth here and my son experienced an extended NICU stay. To start they did not trest my fiance and sons father like he was the father at all they treated him like a stranger and were extremely rude to him constantly ignoring him or questioning why it is he wanted to help his PREGNANT girl who had been going through contractions for 3 days. Creepy male nurse in labor and delivery and very rude delivery doctor she should not be involved in such a special moment in someones life. Each time we would visit our son we would get unpleasant stares from the staff and the majority of the NICU nurses would treat you like you were and idiot or get overly attached to my son and treat us like we were not his parents. They often did things without making a phone call to us so next time we visited we would be surprised to see something else such as an IV sticking out of his head thought they promised to call of anything had changed. They would not check on my son as much as they claimed and I'd often have to instruct staff to fix something for him because they just werent paying attention. I get it's busy but you need to check all your patients or staff more.
The 2 stars are for the fact that my son made it out early and for Nicole who was an amazing labor and delivery nurse who made my fiance and I feel welcomed and made him feel involved.

The labor and delivery team was amazing. They made me feel safe and comfortable and help motivate me to keep pushing. Wonderful experience. Thank you for helping me bring my beautiful baby into the world.

Was there for surgery and had to spend 8 days there. Worst care I have ever seen felt like I was dismissed and I was just a bother to them. Itd take me all day to list the problems and bad treatment I received. Was a living nightmare for me and my fiance.

My son is currently in the behavioral health unit. They are not consistent there. He has seen 3 different doctors for a few minutes each time. Each one tells him something different. They don't listen. They think they understand what is going on with him. Don't take your loved ones here.

Not sure the docs name or the nurse but every staff member truly was so nice and actually listened and wanted to help. This is not a normal accurance for me. I was treated how I wish I was treated when I see the doctor or er anytime. Thankyou!! It was nice to be heard and helped and not treated badly. I feel less worry less stress, please keep this up. Its an amazing feeling to feel this way getting care. Im at the er right now getting released the nurse and doctor were amazing. In response thankyou, I would like the doc and nurse to know they were great.

Great experience when we took my mom to ER early evening on July 4. From check in to check out, all staff were a delight to work with...professional and pleasant throughout. Great at interacting and cleary explaining each step taken. Best experience ever in an ER!

I was transferred last night from the Phoenix VA for evaluation. All the information was sent but I have been waiting hours due to them waiting for them upload Radiology images to their system...SMH This not cavemen trying create fire for the first time... The reason I give it a is due to staff being polite and professional. But in all seriousness, to be in 2019 and to take this long to upload data is absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!

Been waiting in the emergency room going on 5hrs now, Brought my mom here because she fell and now she is having extreme pain in her chest and cant move without crying in pain, please keep in mind she is 75. She cant move, she is in extreme pain and can hardly breathe... The staff is rude, made her get out of her wheel chair because it was" too crowded". I will never come here again. I never am one to give bad reviews but this ER is horrible. If you care about your loved ones please take them elsewhere. Even it is far. The most unfriendly staff i have ever met. They have no compassion for the sick and elderly. If there was a negative star i would give a negative

The days of care are over. Banner has cut back on services for the things that matter to a patient. Having worked in a hospital for 16 years I m very disappointed with patient care at Banner Thunderbird and how it has deteriorated in 3 years.

I have been at thunderbird hospital in the CARS unit since Friday the 15th and I am still currently here . Overall it has been a horrible experience I am in what they call a over flow area where the doctors do not come talk to me everyday , I ask for doctors multiple times a day and they don t come , some of the nurses I had were great but most of them (different nurse everyday in over flow) are very slow to simple request , rude or just ignore the call button completely. I have been here 5 days with no bath I have expressed to them that I want a bath and everyday they give me the run around day I v the next day I will be moved but I have yet to be , just this morning alone I have been waiting on a new IV to be placed for over 4 hours which means I have been with out my IV medication for 2 hours and no one seems concerned , nurses said my diet was changed but no one know why and they don t know when the doctor can come talk to me. I feel like my treatment plan is not being discussed with me , I would not recommend coming here and I will not be back I asked to leave the second day I was here and be transferred to another hospital and they said if I went to another hospital my insurance would not pay the bill .

The doctors, nurses and staff were great, I felt pampered. The menu looked delicious and had great options although I didnt get to try it because I was on a liquid diet during my stay. I picked up my prescriptions from a pharmacy they have inside the hospital, very convenient. I was almost sad I had to checkout. Thank you Banner Thunderbird.

this happened last month but didnt think to write a review until now, i came in for worsening confusion/cognitive issues spent 2 or 3 days in normal er section then went to mental health section for about a week during all of those days not one test was done and after the week was over i was discharged despite not feeling ready to be. i never once had a neurologist to come speak to me,no eeg, no mri, no memory testing etc, any doctors that would talk to me would do so for 5 seconds at a time. the staff was very rude on the first day as well.

My spouse was there for an extended length of time and while he was there, he was provided the best of care. All of the staff was very kind and considerate and made his stay very pleasant. The nurses and the doctors took time to listen to and respond to his complaints and the housekeeping staff made sure to keep his room very well cleaned and stocked. I'm sincerely grateful to the staff of Banner Thunderbird for all the care and compassion that was shown to him and my family during his long and painful recovery.

Everyone was very nice and efficient.Had to go to er with some health issues and was promptly seen and well attended to by everyone. I was made as comfortable as one can get in the er and feel I received excellent medical care. My father had been treated here in the past and I saw how good they were to him so I entrusted my medical treatment to them and I'm glad I did. Thank you everyone for your skill and kindness.

Key factors to consider are QIOs and the new Banner health hospital just build in Tucson Arizona which cost 500 million. So, how does all this money get raised and at how many patients insurance expense? Are angry? yes you say after doing a little detecting into why patients are being treated poorly, harmed, and some dying yet so call services provided are charged to insurances which taxpayers by the thousands are paying state and federal taxes. Does this mean not just patients are are being treated poorly, harmed, and some dying? No What this means is everybody is being treated poorly, harmed, and eventually killed. So says several state and federal investigators which wanted me to go on record and speak up about my poor treatment at the emergency room at Banner thunderbird hospital. I told them to leave my residence and never contact me again because what happens in hospitals when you're a patient and their is poor treatment, harm, and death as a result is none of my business. However, I believe the CEO was involved because I told he was under investigation for something called grand larceny, and how he was the person who actually contacted the federal government and mentioned whistleblower defense. Thus, shame on CEO for involving innocent patients to speak up about the effects of getting poor treatment, harmed, or causing death to some patients visiting Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, 5555 W. Thunderbird Rd., Glendale, AZ 85306

I brought my son in for a fever and shakes and right when we got there they told us we'd be acccepted immediately but that took 45 mins then they saw us for about 5 mins and gave him some medicine then sent us to another room to wait another 30 mins to an hour just to take us to another room to wait 20 more, then the doctor comes in all in a hurry and checks my sons heart rate then ears and says ones red and he wants to check again in a little bit amd leaves all withing 2 mins...we wait another 30 then they come in and swab his nose which they shoved up it and wasnt nice and dipped within 30 seconds and they never told me what it was for or the results or anything just said he had a flu amd prescribed a few things...never checked his ear again...so a few days later hes getting worst and we decide to take him to an urgent care...both ears are infected.

Hospital really runs slow patients scattered in different halls to wait for a room. I had to wait 3-4 hours just to be give a room, first and last time I'll be walking into this hospital. Really does not offer good service !!! Never had this issue with banner estrella At any moment !!

ED wait time is TERRIBLE. You apparently have to be a good actor or needing drugs to get seen. My boyfriend has been actively waiting for over 4 hours at this point and has some pretty severe pain. Clearly they don't even care. Definitely helps that he's a Banner employee as well... NOT. This is atrocious.

Update: they said they have a room for him and they're just "cleaning it"... only to keep calling other names! Also, the wait time posted here on yelp says 39 minutes. What a joke!!!!!

Update part two: finally in a room... the attached picture is apparently the definition of clean a jug and sample cup of someone else s urine. Delightful!!

Staff is excellent but not very many people here Staff feel that they are short-staffed and do not have the equipment that they need I have been here 13 days and only had three valves have been moved from one unit to another problem being that every time you moved it's a different doctor as your hospitalist then if you have any Specialists they rotate through on anywhere from three to five day rotation so no one knows what the other one has been doing the process is here suck takes an hour to an hour and a half to receive your breakfast or dinner tray once you've ordered it sorry that I ever got admitted here since I'm out of state and I'm waiting to be transferred back to my own state to maybe some better Healthcare the nurses have been excellent and wonderful people but the hospital's processes are horrible I need to be looked at by The Joint Commission and the state

I had to go to the hospital to have tests done for my baby because I am 34 weeks pregnant. I had to go to OB triage. My appointment was at 230pm i did not leave until almost 7pm. Nobody could find an order for me. The lady whose name was Ann, who did my ultrasound, was very careless and she just gave off negative vibes towards me and did not make me feel comfortable at all. Not only that, but as she was leaving she kept bumping her machine into my bed. Like how rude! And she failed to tell the nurses that she had finished, so I stayed there for another hour and a half for no reason, when I could have been went home. I am due to give birth at the end of July and I'm not sure if I even feel comfortable because of what I went through.

My friend was in the hospital , I never go to hospitals I m not sure what to do. There was one nurse who would explain what to do and kinda guided us but everyone else was really rude. I asked for a pillow because my friend didn t have pain meds yet and the nurse just handed me a pillow. She had a open wound on her leg and no pain meds. I tried to put the pillow under my friends leg because the nurse didn t and it caused her pain. The nurse just watched me do it.. it was really uncomfortable . The nice nurse sent us to the waiting room. I know it s a hospital but I would think people would have a bit more empathy or at least just walk me through what s going on.

This was from a few years back . So could have had changes. I had to have
my gallbladder out. Came on sudden . By the next day I was in surgery . The day after that I was home. Everyone was proffesional and attentive.I was lucky enough to have the same nurse through my stay. The room was nice and clean. Didn't have the opportunity to really eat so won't say food was good. All in all it turned an unpleasant situation into one that was bearable.

Billing is the absolute worst! We had our baby in March and banner has been working since before the birth to combine all of their separate accounts into one. Every time we talk to them, they insist they have combined them and everything is set but then we have the same problem again every couple weeks. They keep finding additional accounts and find more charges to bill us. Their customer service is about as bad as Cox.

Hmmmm, where to begin. I brought my mother here with a bursted appendix and yes she still had to wait over 2 hours to be seen in ER. She did have surgery and after the fact one can't visit their relatives after surgery. Then when the surgeon comes out, we had a 30 second poor assessment of her condition and wouldn't answer questions. What's sad, it only gets worse. She was admitted to ICU where her stay only got worse. Upon her arrival into ICU I've never seen a more unorganized outfit ever and I work for an airline and this hospital takes the cake. Unanswered nurse call bells, charts that had no information given from one department to the next, poor building management such as unclean floors, broken elevators and unlit corridors. Did I bring my mother to county hospital, maybe I should of because I think that I would have received better care had I took my mother there. BANNER GET IT TOGETHER!!! I will be bringing this to the attention of the State.

If no stars were an option, that's what i would give. There were only about 3 nurses in ICU that I can say that were caring. There was this fat nurse named NIkki that had a bad attitude & spoke really disrespectful. How she ever became a nurse, i have no idea! Maybe Thunderbird is about quantity of nurses rather than quality. If I ever get bad & have to go to this hospital I think I'd rather die than come here. I've read some reviews & they give a generic answer to each neg. post. Sad!

Excellent experience here! I just delivered my son this week and despite so many different stress factors I never felt like the staff was unprofessional or rude. Everyone has been kind and helpful throughout our time here. We would definitely recommend anyone (especially first time parents) to consider Banner Thunderbird when picking their delivery hospital!

February I gave birth to a baby girl....because of their negligence and mistake my case went to c- section...They broke my water and left me alone approximately 1 1/2 hour....no doctor is there only nurse took care of me....they interested for c- section not for normal delivery....I did not see this type of doctors ever....They spoiled my beautiful life.....I hate this hospital....Better to avoid this type of hospitals which had irresponsible doctors....Other than doctors every thing is good. Before I felt doctors are the gods on earth but now I changed my opinion...

I was in more pain there than I was before going in because they wouldn't listen to me about not putting my IV in my left arm that I was having severe pains in and it had just gotten its color back from being purple and super cold the hour before. I was in for chest pains and the doctor later informs me at the end of my time there that the nerves on my left intersect with the nerves in my chest so all the massive pain my arm was in from the IV (that was sending my heart rate through the roof everytime my arm accidentally shifted) was going straight to my chest and all my chest pains were causing more pain in my arm. I was there for 5-6 hours with an IV almost the entire time. It was not a good experience at all. There were also some serious HIPPA violations going on in my room and on top of that they made my heart rate go from a resting 80 at one point when I'd finally gotten comfortable at around midnight to 119 in three seconds flat and it kept spiking between 90 and 119/120 for the next 10 minutes. This was an hour and a half before my release telling me I owed them almost $1000 in medical expenses. This is before we even got my results back and mind you I was in for chest pains and they want me to go see a heart specialist.

For peds I feel they need to speed things up a bit! To have mamas and babies wait for over 4 hours is ridiculous! We made the choice to leave this am because we may as well wait at home to schedule an appointment with our doctor then to sit there waiting on this staff.

Worst hospital ever I am currently trying to sue, they prescribed Oxycodones to my breast feeding wife and cause my baby to be excessively sleepy, and not only that but my wife had a vaginal year after birth and gave her 3 types of pain killers and ZERO antibiotics to prevent infection, and yes she ended up getting an infection...I would strongly recommend another hospital

Back in hospital will not treat me when I'm a lvl 10 in pain and wants to eject me for the room. Have used a dog to intimidate me for them to release the iv. Thinking medical malpractice suit against dr. Modie. Was seen by Jodie for less than 1.30 minutes and decided I am not need treatment. Will go back to emergency department for them to treat me again. Will need to wait for hours again to be seen. Very unprofessional from everyone can't see a 2ed doctor because the want room.

Emergency room takes forever to get in for treatment.

Waited for 3 hours with a 11 week old... I think that explains it all. Worthless trip. Waisted time and money. Came here because it s close to my house and didn t want to drive to Phoenix children s hospital, which is 30 mins away. I bet I would have finished there faster with the drive.

I had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago out patient procedure. I needed bloodwork, xrays, covid test etc a week prior. Every single person i encountered was awesome. They took great care of me the entire time during recovery. I went in petrified because i hadnt seen a doctor in 30 yrs but left with a great experience. Top notch staff.

So my step dad is currently an inpatient here. My step sisters came from Idaho to help support my mom and their dad during this time. Banner's current visitation restrictions because of covid are one person can visit once per day and virtual visitations are encouraged. So, for our family when one person goes in, they initiate the virtual call with other family members on the line. When my mother cannot go in, the family member will turn the call to the doctor or nurse so that my mother can get an update (my mother is also a nurse). Well today, the nurse and her supervisor stated that my step dad can no longer have virtual calls because we had been recording them. First of all, this is banners policy for visits. Second, my mother needs to he informed on his current status and care because he is having numerous health issues at the moment. Thirdly, the family has not recorded any calls with staff or taken any pictures of them. Our family had only taken a few pictures of the chat to keep other family members updated. In no way were any hospital staff ever recorded or pictures taken. Are these staff members so vain that they honestly believe we want pictures or video of them? A virtual call is no different then a regular call to get an update.

Why was this never an issue with any other patient in the banner universe? If banner staff had concerns about something like this then maybe they should bring it up with administration instead of chastising an already upset family. In closing, if you can choose somewhere else to go for your family's Healthcare needs, I would highly encourage you to do so. Banner does not have you or your family's best interests in mind.

If I could rate this place s Zero I would. The worst experience by far. Luckily this isn't the hospital that "I" have to go to. Sitting here with my client and have been waiting 6 hours for lab results that should have only taken 60 minutes. The nurses left the room a mess, and had no ideal how take blood from my client. It took three nurses to take blood from my client. I've had much better experiences at Banner Estrella. I hope I never have to come to this trashy hospital ever again!!!

I was overcharged for an outpatient surgery in October of 2018 and still waiting on a $1500 refund. I call their billing department at least once a week and get the run around. Never any supervisor or manager on duty. Now I think they should also reimburse me for the interest I ve been paying on that $1500.00 for 3 + months!

The only reason I Don't give this Hospital a 1 is because of the Nurses! They were all amazing.
I had my baby at this Hospital November 2018 we stayed for 4 days do to my baby having jaundice. Four days after being home baby had a fever of 101.1 we headed to the same Hospital thinking it would be best since we delivered there. (Didn't know we had a Children's Hospital found out we had one 2 days after being admitted) E.R took us in right away, but when they tried to search for my newborn's veins to put IV it seemed like they had no idea what they were doing. After 3 pokes! & vein search they ended up calling the Ultrasound team. Amanda was the most helpful, she even went out of her way to help my child by coming in on her day off. They also tried to do a LP test they poked her 5 times and couldn't get what they needed. At this point I wish they would've been smarter with the future procedures that were done, but NO they ended up trying this LP test over and over!. I was so tired of seeing my baby going through this. All these pokes and test are now being charged when they weren't even successful, makes me feel like they did this to my baby just keep charging my insurance because on the 7th day they decided my baby needed to be put to sleep for the LP producer!. At this point I just wanted to transfer to Children's Hospital but they told me they couldn't do that because my baby was already being treated and that my insurance wouldn't cover. My family and I are greatful for all the nurses but they can only do so much for us. PLEASE DON'T BE ME AND MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD GETS THE RIGHT PROCEDURES DONE THE FIRST TIME SPEAK UP. REMIND THEM IF IT WAS THEIR CHILD THEY WOULD'VE DONE THE MOST PROFESSIONAL PROCEDURE TO GET THE RESULT RIGHT AWAY. My best advice is go to Children's Hospital because that place specifically focuses on children.

If I could write a NEGATIVE 10 I would. This hospital is one of the worst I've ever dealt with. They are half fast, make opinions about you and your loved ones based on a past history. They treat everyone like a number. Theirs no compassion in this hospital. They will tell a patient or an advocate one thing and do the complete opposite. They will twist the truth to their favor I watched them do it to my brother and to my other brother. Neglect of care killed my mom at 44, but they felt they did no wrong then, but caused her more pain and suffering than she deserved. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone ever!!

Worse place ever. My mom went in with a blood clot. She missed meals because no one ordered them for her. I finally ordered them. The nurses assistant was just sitting there not doing a thing. I asked for water for my mom. The na stayed seated. Finally I went and got it. Then today when they released her they released her in a gown only no briefs. You boys are pathetic. Poor excuses for humans. Rolling eyes.

Worst facility I have been to yet. Went into the emergency room for irregular heartbeat and heart palpitations. I've struggled with SVT throughout the years so I know the drill of these hospitals. Typically since I have trouble breathing and my heartbeat is so erratic they usually get me in right away and push me to the front of the line since this can be pretty serious. They made me wait in the emergency waiting room panicked out of my mind and struggling to breathe for over half an hour. Every other facility I've been to has never made me wait ONCE. They always wheel me back in a wheelchair immediately. The nurses and Doctors were nice and seemed very professional once they finally got me back but everything took forever and no one ever sat down and discussed with me lab work, or CT scan results. I had to ask THEM like 5 times what my results were until a nurse finally told me that my CT was clear. After I was cleared a bill of good health and ready to go home I was told the last thing we were waiting for was an Echocardiogram just to be on the safe side of things. Well I waited half the day for this Echo and finally I spoke up and asked what was taking so long. A nurse told me "these Echo people like to just come whenever they want and we really don't know" after that I said this is just ridiculous and you cant just keep me here waiting for this Echo that may never come. After basically clawing my way out of there and begging and pleading to go home to my 17 month old they FINALLY discharged me. I should of been out of there first thing in the morning but waited until 3 o'clock in the afternoon for this "echo" that probably never would have come. Two different Doctors told me in the morning that I could probably just do an outpatient Echo so who the hell knows why I waited an entire day for people to communicate and figure out they probably never even ordered the damn thing.

This place would have gotten more stars but the staff in OB Triage showed judgmental tendencies and the ER in general is nothing short of comical. Once I was admitted though the nurses were great and we were treated pretty great. If you need immediate care, do not go here. Urgent care is both cheaper and faster.

I writing this review as im still in the hospital. Here overnight for observation overflow and find some positive aspects of the hospital that produce excellence in patient services while a few orhers lack basic care and humanistic approach.
Here are areas of improvement :

Cleaning ER- floor dirty, dirty bathroom with no toilet paper. Maybe frequency of cleaning will help.

Overflow area - very clean but should be explained to patient that you are in another waiting area with no doors when spending the night. Very noisy and must ask for items that are in regular rooms :
Toothpaste, towels. Socks. Blankets for bed. TV in operative..reported to nurse and did nothing.

ER triage- xray, pathology, and Dr on staff for cardiology. Excellent paient service experience. Limits waisted time , so when called back on call Doctor or PA can diagnose faster.

Staff ER - excellent in cardiology section!!
Staff Overflow- ok seems like new staff , lots of PHI discussed with each other while patients can hear.

Like i said. Ok Hospital with areas for improvement.

Wow, now going to be discharged. Im glad!!!wish process worked better. Thanks for reaching out to me and the apologies.

Had to have a wound flap at this hospital and the whole experience was a nightmare! From the start my surgery was set up as an out patient when I was supposed to be hospitalized, I have to be in bed for 2 months before I can even sit up! My doctor, Dr. Tatum prescribed me half the dose of pain medication after my surgery than I was on prior to my surgery just for maintenance. I had such a large wound that it looks like an alien burst out of my back from hip to hip, and I was in excruciating pain for the first 36 hours with no rest or sleep before a different doctor took over after my wife, who s a PA had to essentially fire Tatum! Found out Tatum is in charge and no one would take a complaint. The case managers immediately pounced on me to get me out of the hospital and kept trying to place me in a rehab center for my healing that had 1 and 2 star reviews and in one 5 hour period came into my room 6 times to hound me to pick a place when I had no options and accused me of not wanting to leave the hospital and being difficult. When I did find a place to be transferred to for recovery it still took over a week for it to be approved and the whole time I was hounded to leave. I m a paraplegic but with full feeling and was accused several times by Dr s of faking pain to get more pain meds. Eventually while at the hospital I contacted an attorney. It took him having to call the hospital for them to pull their heads out into the sun shine! Once he was involved they treated me like a normal person. I m still not sure how this will end up but I never got any rest and feel like this severely set back my recovery from the month of stress I had constantly at this hospital. Feel free to contact me Banner if you d like to resolve this. Never going back!

Update: 12/3/19 Responded to Banner waiting to see if they do anything or if this is just words.

I'm so Disgusted with T Bird Banner. I used to always take me daughter here when she was sick. These last 3 weeks have been a complete NIGHT MERE. I took my daughter to the ER for her Asthma the RT had no bed side Manners and was annoyed that I was asking questions. After he gave my daughter a treatment he told me she sounded perfect. I knew he was lying so I listened to her and she did not sound any better then she did before the treatment. The Dr came in and I said that treatment did nothing she sounds the same. They then gave her a dose of Steriods and a checked on her in 2 hours and sent us home. My daughter did not get any better she like a Rollercoaster good one day and bad the next. Moving forward 2 weeks my daughter woke up Monday morning having trouble breathing. I rushed her to TBIRD they did 3 back to back hour in a half treatments then over night gave her a treatment every 2 hours the nurse came in at 11am and sent her home. No Asthma protocol was followed the Nurse DANA basically blamed us for the lack of knowledge and and for my daughter not seeing a Pulmonologist. I on the other hand let him talk. I'm very educated my daughter has been seeing an Allergist since she was 4 years old. Her Dr has been the best when it comes to my daughter's Asthma. Dana also told me my daughter's White Count was higher then normal despite her condition he eager to release is. On Friday I got home from work with my daughter fighting to breathe O2 was 88 and pulse was 145 and a temp of 103. I rushed her to TBIRD. ER. Upon arrival I put her in a wheel chair as she was weak. I enter the ER packed full of people my daughter turns to me and says she doesn't feel good and begins to vomit because she was not able to breathe. Her body was compensating. They triage her and she continued to vomit and her eyes rolling back in her head. We waited hopelessly. The nurse came back and we went to Peds waiting area. As we were waiting my daughter was having an Asthma Attack and again started vomiting aND complaining she was seeing spots. I immediately went to get a nurse whom laughed at me and told me my daughter had to wait just like the rest of the people about 2 hrs. I was so upset, confused, I got my daughter and took her to Dignity Westgate where they immediately assessed her and gave her meds, IVs, Xray and then admitted her to PCH for Astoma Excerbation ca used by a Virus. NEVER again TBird!!!

I'm a diabetic and I presented to the ED at 2130 on 8/24 with a gaping leg wound that required stitches. I waited in a filthy waiting room for nearly 9 hours before being seen. No food, no water, no medical attention. Not even a tylenol for the pain. When I was finally seen, I didn't get enough stitches, I was given the wrong dose of antibiotics, and now the wound is open, infected and I'm on the verge of taking legal action.

Worst hospital ever, no one cares they brush you off. Always question what your health status or treatment plan is. I'm shocked. I went with out a call light for days and my call light broke in my new room and I'm still waiting 6hrs later for a new one. I feel if I had a life threatening illness I would not survive at Banner Thunderbird. I will never take a love one here.

The care is good and I like alot of the nurses (or the ones I had during my stay for covid complications.) But you guys are HORRIBLE at communication. My mother has been there a month on a ventilator due to covid and I've gotten to video chat ONCE and see her when she was sedated. I get conflicting updates from different people and some days don't even get a call back. Come on you guys. We can't be there and we need to know what's going on with our family members in the ICU. I get that you're busy but there needs to be a system and a little more compassion!
