DANGEROUS. Dropped my mother several times. One time her femur was broken and they didn't want her to go the the hospital. I called the state and they received several deficiencies. (feel free to look it up, it's public) Then, they dropped her again. Now they will not return my calls. May be I can get one of their lawyers to give me a call if I start to make this public....... This is really not a good place... It looks nice from the outside, but the care is terrible.

We have lived here for five years and have enjoyed so many aspects of life on campus: the Gaithersburg Beloved Community Initiative, Strathmore performances, Keese School lectures, yoga classes, Arena Stage excursions, participating in governance committees, and volunteering for various projects, to name a few. In March, we wondered how our lives would be changed by COVID-19.
One would assume that living in a retirement community during a pandemic would be a very stressful and potentially isolating experience. However, this has not been the case for us. The Administration acted quickly and decisively to put in place effective policies and procedures that made us feel safe and well cared for. They provide transparency and real time data about COVID-19 cases at Asbury on a dashboard on their website which is updated daily. In our neighborhood we established phone trees and weekly Zoom meetings to keep in touch with our neighbors.
Now that it s safe to resume some activities in person, we are once again enjoying the pool and exercise classes, dining with friends, and attending meetings in small groups. Some activities still take place via Zoom, but Asbury has done an admirable job of striving to keep residents engaged while at the same time keeping their safety and well-being a top priority. We have always felt that moving to Asbury when we did was the right decision for us and that is being reinforced every day.

My list of wants were more meet when I moved to Asbury Methodist Village. I wanted medical services, affordable living and safe, secure environment.
Asbury as a Continuing Care community offered independent Living, assisted Living and rehab/nursing home Center. They have many doctors available on campus along with Home care services covered by Medicare or self paid. not only that they have Physical Therapy and hearing services on campus I will not mention the Hair Salons, swimming pool and gyms ( with trainers).
When I checked my expenses in my four bedroom home with a quarter acre of land I found that the monthly fee was less. but Wow they wash your windows yearly, Change your filter, and even clear off your car when it snows. I had not consider a food plan.. it is wonderful not to shop, cook and wash dishes. Someone else does this for you every day. and you have more than enough food... I have to watch my weight!!
I have more than I could possibly do available to me each day. But more than that I am secure and safe on a beautiful campus!!!!!

I have happily lived at Asbury now nine years. Two years ago my husband died, and I began to look for ways to cut down on expenses. I became aware that my apartment really has more space than I need for contentment. So I talked to Louise Stewart, who was my move-in coordinator and she was very helpful. After checking out possibilities, she found a smaller apartment to show me. I had hoped that if I moved I might find a ground level apartment because I have a pug that requires regular walks. I was delighted to find the apartment she showed me not only was on the ground floor but it also had a patio. I will save enough money on service fees to cover the rise in price we get each year. So I am confident that I will be able to cover future expenses and still live fully as I have the last nine years. I benefited from this change, but I also hope that Asbury can benefit from being able to resell the larger space to new residents.

Every time I visit Asbury, I feel like I am driving onto a beautiful college campus. My parents moved to Asbury in 2006 when there were in their early 80s. They lived in a large 3-bedroom apartment and they got to spend 8 years living there together before my dad died in 2014 at the age of 91. They loved all the things they could do at Asbury like playing bridge, going to movies, playing shuffleboard, participating in trivia game nights, watching football in the community room on Sundays, going to exercise classes, seeing lots of live entertainment, going to church in the on-campus chapel each Sunday and eating dinner with the many friends they made at Asbury. It was always a different group of friends each night. They loved the meals and we began to have all our family holiday dinners at Asbury. (The food is really good.)

My mother lived at Asbury for another 6 years as a widow and died last month at the age of 95. We as a family are all so grateful that she lived out her final days at Asbury as Mom continued to be happy there. She had many friends during that 6-year period and she always said she lived in the friendliest building. A highlight as she lost much of her sight and hearing was still having dinners daily with friends until Covid. Even then, she liked getting her dinner delivered to her apartment and always enjoyed it. I cannot imagine any other place handling the Covid virus as well as Asbury. Mom died in her sleep one night from old age, which is now called failure to thrive. She was always grateful that Asbury was her home

I am so grateful to be living at Asbury Methodist Village! Even though things are hard and different during the pandemic, the Asbury Staff has gone the extra mile to make all of us living here feel safe. I can't think of a better place to be!

When my husband and I decided it was time, we visited the retirement communities in this region and chose Asbury as the best. We frequently congratulate ourselves on our choice. The beautiful grounds feature two ponds with a visiting blue heron, as well as many lovely trees and flower plantings. Our house, half of a duplex, is attractive and well designed . Associates, from top managers through housekeepers and handymen, are consistently capable and obliging; they seem to like working here. Asbury is pet-friendly and has recently installed a spacious dog park, where dogs and their human guardians can socialize. Our neighbors are interesting, and there are enough people here to provide an ample variety of social experience. We have numerous cultural events here, notably the lectures and musical evenings sponsored by the Keese School and the Strathmore Music Center.

I have lived at Asbury for 5 years and am so very thankful we moved in when we did. I was 68 and my husband was 75 and basically in good/great health. We are especially thankful during COVID-19 because everyone here reaches out to us to ensure we are taken care of. We have the beautiful 134 acre campus to walk around every day, and the TV studio has our exercise classes and movies going daily. We are loving retirement because we are doing what we want to do and not spending our time worrying about and taking care of a house! We have over 120 clubs and also educational classes here. We are busy every day with activities and events that we want to participate in. There is no place in Montgomery County for retirement like Asbury. All of the associates and residents are fabulous people and we have made a whole new network of friends even though we moved from a neighborhood that is only 15 minutes from Asbury.

This place is AMAZING! Everyone you talk to here is so happy to live here at Asbury! There are generations of families that have lived here. Almost anyone you talk to around town knows someone that lives here. The staff here work very hard to provide the best experience for everyone that lives on this campus. You definitely LIVE MORE AND WORRY LESS at Asbury Methodist Village! It is a great place to work as an employee!

It took us a few years from the first time we saw Asbury to the time we moved in. I continue to love Asbury Methodist Village and I am thankful to be here now. I'm a walker! And having the ponds to do a daily 2 mile walk from our house around the ponds and back is one of my favorite things about being here. And if the weather is bad, I can go to the gym. I have a new gathering of friends, lots of them. All the activities keep us very busy and that is a good thing, At the same time, I can stay connected to the wider Gaithersburg community, helping refugees and immigrants. Attending Keese School lectures keeps us current and continuously learning. I started a new website in the Villa community here and we keep everyone informed, especially in these COVID 19 times and have some fun while we are at it. I'm grateful we moved when we did so that we could start a new and wonderful life again.

My husband Gordon and I moved to Asbury Methodist ...

My husband Gordon and I moved to Asbury Methodist Village (AMV) almost 5 years ago when we fell in love with The Villas , an independent living suburb of the main AMV Campus. Our lovely villa is very comfortable and AMV provides excellent maintenance, which we appreciate after all the responsibilities of home ownership. The campus has beautiful trees it is a qualified arboretum and our special delight is the wildlife area of the ponds where we walk, always on the lookout for herons, deer, geese, and turtles. During the pandemic we have felt well protected, and have valued that AMV provided access to meals, groceries, and medicines which could be delivered. We never felt lonely during the lockdown. when visitors were restricted. because we are surrounded by friends and neighbors here.

I am not big on writing online reviews especially ...

I am not big on writing online reviews especially when they are negative but since we relied on reviews to make our choice for a family member, I feel it is important to share what we personally experienced since I believe our experience could be indicative of how others may be treated and could seriously affect others and their loved ones. We personally had a bad experience with the Wilson Health and Rehab facility. This review pertains to the Wilson Health Care side, not the long term residential or assisted living. I have heard great things about those facilities which made us even more surprised at the care we received in the Wilson facility. I also want to mention that we tried repeatedly to work with the staff and management directly and felt the response was significantly lacking to put it nicely. We ultimately had to relocate our loved one to another facility where the attention to detail was much improved.

Part of the issue I believe stems from their sales approach to wanting to acquire patients. The sales staff is very friendly and said yes to everything we asked. We asked if special dietary needs could be accommodated since that was a critical part of care in our situation and were told - absolutely! They failed miserably to address the dietary concerns. Our loved one also kept running out of drinking water. We would find her showing signs of dehydration and needing water. We repeatedly asked that they get her setup with a pitcher instead of the small cups they would provide since she would drink a cup and have to wait extended periods for staff to check on her later in the day for a refill. They told us they would not provide a pitcher since they were afraid patients might use a pitcher in an ice machine causing a germ transfer risk....we went out and purchased a pitcher for her to be able to have a supply of water. I have never seen a hospital type setting like the Wilson Facility without a way to keep patients hydrated! It was one snafu after another with staff bringing the incorrect foods and time and time again we would speak with them and remind them about the sensitivity of the diet plan. The next day it would start all over again with the wrong foods being delivered to the room. We alerted management and felt as though they just didn't have the ability to properly manage the staff. Management blamed it on staff being independent contractors and turnover to a large extent and said they would keep trying to get the word out about the dietary issues. We found one helpful nurse who witnessed and recognized the issue and our ongoing attempts to get it corrected and she posted warning signs at the door about the diet; staff still violated the restrictions. Management appeared not to have a reliable way to broadcast patient messages to staff and it seemed management had to remember to run down each person and say - remember, no milk products to room 100 as an example. Then they would tell us they didn't get to one of the staff that day and they made the meal delivery so they would be sure to get the message to them. Then staff changed and it happened over and over. If a patient's allergies include milk, you should not deliver milk or products containing milk to their room where dementia patients especially are likely to consume them and get sick.

We tried having conferences with management but in my opinion they don't seem to want to accept responsibility. They passed the buck to other staff or issues. They are in charge - they run the facility and they need to find a better way to communicate patient allergies and dietary problems so they don't repeatedly deliver the wrong foods to patients. We were lucky to be able to have family at the facility as often as we did so we witnessed the problem and kept reporting and correcting it. Many families don't have the ability to have someone sit with their loved one and things like our issues would go unreported only to potentially cause a patient to have allergic reactions complicating their care. There is more to the story but space is limited by Google.

Caring associates, lots of activities in pre-pandemic times, good food with lots of menu choices, an excellent fitness program including a great pool with many fitness professionals, a beautiful campus with ponds and walking trails and most of all a real community spirit of compassion make this a great place to live. The administration has done a fine job of minimizing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and provided classes of all sorts on our in-house AVTV.

Now, by myself - I feel safe (especially with covid) and right at home with all the wonderful & friendly people and the lovely campus - great for walking. Did I mention the food? Asbury truly lives its mission everyday to do all the good we can in all the ways we can!!! Its a blessing to work with an organization that lives the words they speak and are appreciative of the opportunities to do so.
The feeling of family is so strong here and the associates and residents embrace and support one another in a way that is uncommon in our industry.

A new chapter of my life began with a move to Asbu...

A new chapter of my life began with a move to Asbury Methodist Village in May of 2019. My husband of 25 years passed in 2012 leaving me in a beautiful but very empty home. Prior to his passing, my husband and I had participated in many fun Asbury activities including Sunday afternoon tea dances, New Year s Eve parties, and trip planning meetings with friends. A move to the Gaithersburg campus was a logical next step in my life s journey.

After moving to Asbury, I began participating in many enriching activities including exercise classes in the beautiful swimming pool and large auditoriums. I also attended seminars offered by Johns Hopkins and periodic movies in the Rosborough Community Center.

Wildlife is a passion for me, so I joined the Habitat Action Committee. The wonderful birds at Asbury are well fed by the Committee. I am one of the feeders and also a member of a group of dedicated monitors who observe and document activities in the dozen Blue Bird nest boxes on campus. The summer of 2020, while challenging for us humans, was thankfully beneficial for campus Blue Birds.

I became a middle school mentor through art in connection with the Gaithersburg Beloved Community initiative and Asbury Pastoral Care program. Bingo is a fun event that I facilitate weekly and have even initiated a discussion group that also meets weekly to talk about a variety of everyday topics. Over time we have incorporated poetry and singing into our time together.

The campus offers two well-equipped computer centers that are overseen by the Cyber Asbury organization. A contribution that I make to this group involves maintaining the extensive membership list of Asbury residents who use the centers and receive the monthly fact-filled publication it produces.

The compassion of Asbury residents is demonstrated in many ways. The recent racial unrest sparked an expression of concern for persons of color in our society. As a result several individuals are involved in a series of discussion about issues of race. I facilitate one of the groups and have found it to be both educational and rewarding. Another effort of special interest is the group of folks who dress like clowns and make themselves visible throughout the community. They never fail to lift the spirits of all who reside in this tremendous community. My clown name is Speedy.

My decision to live here continues to be exceptionally rewarding for me.

I ve been here 4 years and am very happy I came. There is so much to do that you almost need a calendar updated daily. Of course many things have been curtailed during the virus period, but that is for our own good. We are now beginning to get back to normal for dining and fitness.

The one activity that was a major factor in my joining Asbury was the Keese school. We have two semesters Fall and Spring with two classes per week. The subject matter covers a wide spectrum. This Monday the subject is the music of Colonial MD and Thursday we will be hearing about the American Church in the post Christendom area.

I offer this review of my association with Asbury ...

I offer this review of my association with Asbury Methodist Village, from the viewpoint of marketing, education, wellness, and other aspects of life after my move here. Maybe it will answer some of your questions about life at this retirement community. My association with Asbury Methodist Village started in May 2020 with a search for my forever home at a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). Katie Davis of the Asbury Village Marketing Department was most helpful in presenting Zoom tours of available apartments. Even a Zoom tour in these pandemic times, highlighted that Asbury Village checked all the important boxes for me! My tour led me to select an apartment, and pay a deposit to hold it. About two weeks later, I visited my new apartment in-person and got to design it from floors to ceiling fans. Fortunately, Asbury was redoing the complete apartment, so I had a blank slate and was able to offer my input to the final outcome.

Katie Davis also spoke initially with my realtor in Arlington, Virginia, for after all I wished to sell my home before moving to Asbury. They outlined a plan to put up my home of 29 years for sale, and guess what-- it sold in about six hours on the first day of appointments open to the public. Remember these were Covid-19 times and I'm grateful that it all worked out for me.

My move-in days to Asbury Methodist Village were July 30 and July 31, 2020, just two months plus a week, after my first contact with Asbury Village on May 22, 2020! Talk about an accelerated pace! Of course I was in quarantine for two weeks after my move-in, but after that I spread my wings to experience the opening up of a Circuit Weight class in the Asbury Wellness Center, and Zoom yoga classes; and lectures, music concerts, race discussions, and other forms of learning through the resident-run Keese School of Continuing Education.

I'm a VA gal primarily raised, educated and careered in Virginia, and between August and September 30, I accomplished getting my Maryland driver's license, and MD auto registration and car insurance. Also, because I left all my physicians behind in Arlington, I'm working to establish a local primary care doctor; will retain some of my specialty medical professionals, like my dentist and other specialty-care physicians.

Having a dining plan was one reason that Asbury Methodist Village appealed to me. A dining-plan service option comes with my apartment, and I'm working with the chef and dining manager to accommodate my dietary needs, which are more challenging for me than for most others.

Now I'm at Asbury Village exploring new things and taking my time to assess where I want to volunteer my time. Oh yes, I registered to vote in Maryland, and will cast my vote for the first time in my new county of Montgomery. My last word to you folks is to VOTE.

Yes, indeed! Six years ago, we sold our Takoma Park condo and, after a fairly lengthy search of CCRCs in the region to which we moved from California because our grandkids and their parents were here, bought into a two-bedroom apartment in the Edwards Fisher building. Rollie, refusing to consider he was getting old, was reluctant. Bernie, tired of cooking, was ecstatic. A few months earlier, she had come to see a friend at Asbury and soon met many friends. Even though active in our condo association, she was conscious of the transiency of our Takoma neighborhood and of the ability here at Asbury to secure long-time friendships. And Rollie after a very short time agreed that this was a great move. We were a bit nervous about telling our children but then saw the great relief in their faces when we did.

Bernie is more of an inside-the-neighborhood person, active in local community and church associations. She loves our Keese School opportunity to continue her education. She helps organize parties in our Edwards-Fisher neighborhood. Rollie is more an outside-the-neighborhood person and loves to work with the resident-run Gaithersburg Beloved Community Initiative which gets him and many others here at Asbury involved in local schools, community organizations, and city and county affairs. He is also quick to take advantage of lectures, book reviews, and other activities in DC usually hopping the metro a few minutes away.

We like skipping around the dining rooms, cavorting with friends at the Blue Note, and taking advantage of the events, theater, and parties right here at Asbury. We often say how fortunate we are to be able to be here and hope that someday all US residents will have this opportunity. Covid-19 has brought this realization home with a thud. We, with management, are scrupulous in following the rules of public health and are rewarded with a sense of security as well as comradery in protection from the virus.

We understand that good health, education, friendship, and happiness does take a Village.

Rollie and Bernie Smith

I have lived at Asbury Methodist Village for 11 years and have loved it. When the COVID hit, a lot of the activities were shut down but AMV has done a great job providing alternative opportunities. When people ask me how I am doing, I can honestly say "I haven't been better." The Asbury TV station taped all the fitness classes. I take the 10:00 am classes every week day in my living room and can now do movements I've not been able to do for years. For example, I can now strand up from a chair 15 times without using my arms. Our Yoga teacher has made two videos that are broadcast Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons on AVTV. I do not miss those because taking Yoga eliminated the lower back pain I endured since 1963!
I have the meal plan and after the Dining Rooms were closed in March, we were given daily menus and our meals were delivered to our apartments each evening. The food has been tasty and quite varied. I've been able to make healthy choices and have reached my 1966 Weight Watchers goal weight for the first time in about 20 years!
From my 10th floor windows, I have a beautiful view over the tops of the trees shading Gaithersburg and Rockville. The weather is always interesting to watch.

I've lived here for just over six years. I love the people, the programs, the maintenance-free living. There is such an atmosphere of respect and caring among the residents here. It's more than a community, it's a family. I've been able to use my organizational skills to manage, upgrade and staff our campus Clothes Closet, which sells gently-used clothing for ladies and gentlemen. It's so rewarding and even more meaningful because all the proceeds go to our Benevolent Care, which provides funds for those residents who have outlived their resources. After 54 years in nursing, I never imagined I'd be managing a clothing thrift store. It keeps me out of trouble and dresses me well for a pittance!

My family memeber has been there for over a year now and I can t say our experience with her there has been great. From not noticing her cloudy urine, to not doing anything about the several open wounds on her body because her skin integrity wasn t being monitored even though she s BED RIDDEN, to feeding her foods she couldn t chew after we requested accommodations several times, so instead she had to go hungry. It s very concerning to know that these are things they should be noticing/trying to actively prevent, yet they are being so easily overlooked. If you have a family member here, make sure you really advocate for them because no one else will. The attitudes and rudeness from many of the staff members is very disappointing. I understand this is not an easy job and it can get very frustrating but do they really think that the patients want to be there any more than they do? if Asbury wants to be known for PATIENT CENTERED CARE they really need to makes some changes.

They are very pushy when they want your parents to get in as soon as possible. If your relatives come from separate families and they do not share estates, it's best to avoid the heart ache and distress caused by poorly written legal documents which are easily corrected but they refuse to correct. Dealing with administration can be a nightmare. Even the ones who have been doing their jobs for years.

We live in the Courtyard homes section of Asbury. It a lovely home which we have enjoyed for more than nine years. During this Covid 19 period we have been kept safe and comfortable. Meals were delivered, along with drug store items and light groceries. The associates have worked so hard during this period earning our heartfelt appreciation. I'd like to add, one associate, Louise Stewart of Marketing, has been a friend and mentor during my attempts at Stand-up comedy. She's a gem! We love our neighbors, too with whom we are now enjoying virtual happy hours.

Started our search for a retirement spot with an O...

Started our search for a retirement spot with an OSHER course surveying retirement options and communities in the Durham-Chapel Hill area of North Carolina. Visited half a dozen sites. At the prodding of our kids, added 2 more in NC, 3 in Austin, and 3 in Northern Va. Made the winnowing process as rational and factual as possible, but the final choice was still a decision. Three finalists. Selected this one. Home Run!!
100 years of tweaking has left all the services with the resident's interest on top. They have arranged, either internally or with long time partners, a smorgasboard of support services for living independently, ranging from routine housekeeping to in-home health care and even Hospice. We have not moved into an old age home; we've found an apartment for ageing in place with vetted care and services at our fingertips. That scores on our first selection criteria, staying together.
Our second criteria was financial reliability. At a public briefing, the director said We want you to know we are handling YOUR MONEY responsibly. That about covers it.
As a bonus, in addition to the absolutely wonderful staff other reviewers have commented on and a refreshing Customer First mantra in its operations, the place is loaded with alert and engaged residents - a bubbling pool of wonderful new friends. Nice place to live.
We nailed the peaceful, stress free retirement folks dream about. Life has turned out better than we ever expected. Check out Asbury before you commit.

Where you live can make all the difference. Asbury...

Where you live can make all the difference. Asbury Methodist Village (AMV), in Gaithersburg, Maryland, is an incredible campus with beautiful 134 acres of green pastures, rolling hills, lovely flowering trees, and two great ponds with paved walkway around the ponds. This 1400 residence campus of continuing care retirement community has five high-rise apartments plus an assisted living apartment, and a nursing facility, Villas, and Courtyard Homes. How one ages-health, cognition, strength, balance, happiness-is determined primarily by the lifestyle choices made not genetic make-up.
My wife and I made the transition to Asbury ten years ago. After living in one of the apartment building, Edward Fisher, moved to the Courtyard Home. We were able to watch our house being built from Edward Fisher. We moved to the Courtyard home in May 2011. While many people relocate to retirement communities after they leave the workforce, some Americans are moving to one before to stepping away from the office. I for instance, live at AMV and continue to work for the Federal Government full time.
There are so many factors played into transitioning to this continuing care community. The most significant is that the Asbury residents are never asked to leave due to outliving their resources through no fault of their own. The others are the design excellence of the lovely Courtyard home. Courtyard has large enough to various plants, outdoor table and chairs, large enough for our son and grandchildren to play games and cook-outs, when they used to visit prior to COVID. We quite often get together with our neighbors, having social hour, pot lucks, parties including Christmas party. COVID has not restricted us to get together in pergola on Fridays following social distancing, and social hour with zoom on Tuesdays.
There are several main features of this 2 bed rooms with a den, two car garage courtyard home. The natural light pouring in every room, including great room with double glass door to courtyard, the den with five windows looking at Asbury campus and courtyard. Another great feature is the spacious two car garage with some store above ceiling and storage shelves all along the three sides of the garage wall.

I've been a big booster of Asbury Methodist Village ever since the early '70's when I was recruited by my church for some volunteer jobs at AMV. I continued volunteering here as an Asbury resident until 2019 my last job was in the Wilson Gift Shop, until it closed, first for renovation and then for the pandemic.
As a result of my volunteer activity here, I knew many years ago that I wanted to spend my retirement years at Asbury. My husband Joe and I have had the special pleasure of living here for more than 13 years.
It is such a warm, friendly, caring community with a huge variety of activities and programs at our disposal. You can be as busy as you like here, or you don't have to participate in anything. No pressure is put on you either way.
They feed us so well, the associates (employees) are kind, patient and caring and the beautiful 134-acre campus is a big plus to life here. Three levels of care are offered here, so there s peace of mind in knowing that your needs will always be accommodated. Asbury has done an amazing job of keeping us safe and healthy and happy during the pandemic. I really, really enjoy my life here!

With relatives at Asbury for the past few years, we have had many occasions to visit. Our family is satisfied with the structure and tiers, amenities, and personal touches. While parts of the complex are in need of a refresh, it is a big place and thus is to be expected. The evolving response to COVID seems to be measured and appropriate.

I saw myself as a future resident of Asbury 20 years ago when I visited the village with my mother. And it is a village. Why I would not trade Asbury for any other retirement community is the mutual respect and concern residents and staff have for each other. That is number one for me, even though the management of this place, the quality life here & the health care cannot be beat. I know about the health care because I spent 3 months recently in the health care center recovering from gangrene. In such emergencies, this is where you want to be. Mutual respect ruled there too.

My husband and I have been at AMV for almost 3 years and find it to be a great place to live. Our community is beautiful - similar to a college campus (making us feel young again)! The residents are friendly and interesting, while the staff is responsive to our needs. Before the pandemic, we found many AMV volunteer opportunities in the local community and within AMV. The educational classes, lectures, interest groups, and entertainment have been great. During this Covid pandemic, the administration and associates have worked very hard and have gone to great lengths to help keep our community safe. Likewise, the residents are concerned for each other's welfare, considerate and helpful. This is a continuing care retirement community - so all our future needs will be met here. We have no regrets choosing Asbury and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a worry-free place to retire. Our dog, Shelby, also loves it here - especially when residents or concierges like to give her a treat!

I am a resident of this facility. Where else can you find a really great retirement community in Montgomery County? After extensive research, we decided that Asbury was the answer to our prayers; and after living here for a year and a half, we are even more sure that it is. We live independently in a villa at the top of a hill, in a 125-acre park with two ponds, beautiful trees (Asbury is a recognized arboretum), and lots of wildlife. We enjoy and contribute to an active continuing education program run by the residents. We swim in a large indoor pool and exercise in a gymnasium run by dedicated trainers. The other residents are friendly and interesting, and the staff takes care of all our needs. The very warm atmosphere is pervasive.

After a great deal of agonizing, I decided to move to Asbury at my daughters' encouragement. I am so happy that I took their advice and found that this is the best place for me. The residents and staff have been so friendly and welcoming. I felt at home within my first few weeks of moving in. I have made many friends, including a group of wine lovers who meet on Friday nights. I've found new interests and volunteer opportunities that are afforded by the numerous activities available here. For example, my love of writing has given me the chance to be a part of the Village Life, Asbury's on-campus newspaper.

I feel I made the right decision when I moved to Asbury Methodist Village a year ago. The marketing department was most helpful while I was deciding which unit to take, and the move in process, even with my coming from out of state, went very well. I have enjoyed making new friends and felt welcome right away. I had a few months to enjoy the many varied activities here at Asbury before Covid 19 restrictions started. During those 'shutdown' months, we were well taken care of with delivered meals, all kinds of interesting programming on Asbury TV, and detailed up-to-date information at least weekly from the Executive Director and the home office in Frederick. I appreciate their transparency and adherence to all the Covid rules and restrictions. The staff is friendly and kind and seem to genuinely like each other and their jobs. Living closer to my family has been great, and I feel comfortable and secure at Asbury.

This is our third year as residents in AMV and could not be happier! My husband and l moved here from South Carolina and felt a little queasy about moving to the "far North" after spending most of our lives in the Carolinas--the Sunny Friendly South. What a surprise we got! The staff and residents here immediately made us feel welcomed and at home. We noticed their accents were a bit different but we were frequently asked about our accent too which we proudly said "southern ".
We could not have felt safer during the Covid. AMV was a step ahead in meeting our heath safety in taking care of our every need. We are delighted to be here during this crisis.
AMV has all kinds of activities for every interest.

Choosing a retirement community is a big decision....

Choosing a retirement community is a big decision. Having lived at Asbury for four years now, we are sure we made the right decision. We chose Asbury for the beautiful campus, the well-run corporate structure, and the many activities and opportunities available.

In addition to the excellent resident-run education series, we have issue-oriented committees composed of residents and administrators, and a robust wellness and exercise program. We even found space for our bicycles and kayaks. Another plus is the spacious Resident Gardens, protected by a 10-foot deer fence, where I raise vegetables and flowers.

And importantly, in a crisis, Asbury is able to innovate: we were particularly impressed with the pro-active and fact-based actions Asbury took to keep us safe during the pandemic.

I can't imagine what life would have been like for my husband and me if we hadn't been living at Asbury when COVID first hit! From the very beginning, we felt safe here. Asbury took the necessary precautions for our health and safety while also providing for our comfort.
Four course meals, chosen by us from a daily menu, were delivered directly to our door. We could place orders with the campus Shoppe and have them delivered too. My husband and I continued our morning walks around the ponds and grounds of the large, scenic campus. The classic and new release movies we had attended at the campus theater were screened for us on the campus TV station, in addition to their regular interesting programming. We continued our yoga classes with our regular instructor via TV as well. And now that the fall session of the Keese program has begun, those lectures and musical programs are also being broadcast.
With restrictions gradually being lifted and the dining halls reopening, we are returning to a more normal routine, knowing that Asbury is paying attention to what can and should be done with each phase. We feel incredibly fortunate to live at Asbury Methodist Village.

I really do love it here. There is a great feeling of family in my building and especially on my floor. The chances for intellectual stimulation before Covid were tremendous and though we have been affected by the changes, I have felt very safe here because they have done a tremendous job of taking care of us. They are recently opened the pool with restrictions, but love swimming there for exercise.
I love the location, right in the middle of Gaithersburg where everything is easy to get to. This also gives those of us who want to an opportunity to work with the underprivileged in the community through our own Gaithersburg Beloved Community Initiative, so we're not just a bunch of privileged seniors sitting on a hill.
Our campus is also really beautiful is all seasons with two small lakes, and footpaths through forest and over stream. We have many beautiful trees and flower beds with picnic tables throughout.

The campus at asbury is lovely. The landscaping and maintenance can't be beat. What I like about the place is the people. From administrators to nurses to support folks, they are friendly knowledgeable and kind. My father lived there for nearly a year and all of us were impressed.

Tom and I moved to Asbury to be close to grandchildren. We're glad we did; we love the community! We especially appreciate the proximity to Washington, D.C. I play violin and was hoping to find opportunities to play chamber music with residents. We are very pleased with the Asbury has managed the coronavirus pandemic. We feel very safe.

Yes, I love my perfect apartment.

Yes, I love my perfect apartment.
Yes, all the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very, very helpful with their various jobs: dining, maintenance, secretarial, medical. There aren't any curt or short answers - just smiles and all the information and help you need.
Yes, the other residents respond to this safe and lovely environment in turn with cheer.
But this could be said of many CCRCs.
The special plus for Asbury that I appreciate is something unique among elder care facilities - the large and very beautiful grounds. Because the plot was purchased for AMV nearly 100 years ago, the campus is very large (143 acres). That means you can take a walk any time you wish, a long walk, among old-growth trees, towering above you, passing a large beautifully landscaped pond, gardens, flowers and flowering bushes.
It's remarkable how the feeling of freedom to enjoy nature on your own for however long you want to be out adds a unique dimension to living at Asbury.
And my children are very impressed, too! A point not to be underestimated!

We ve known Asbury since the 70 s. Both our parents were here in the late 80 s/90 s, and we came in about 15 years ago. Before we made our decision, we ran the numbers on annual costs and discovered that from a strictly financial view (considering house maintenance, new roof, appliance repair/replacement, utilities, taxes, insurance, etc.) Asbury was arguably a better bottom line.
The staff are almost like family. Housekeeping treats the place like it was their own home. Maintenance is everything you could ask for. And then, there is convenience. For example, if an appliance breaks, depending on the urgency, it is usually replaced within hours (with no charge for a service call.) Couple all this with a theater, bistro, TV station, bank, fitness center and pool, all set in a beautiful campus, our only regret is that we didn t move in sooner.

My wife and I have lived at Asbury Methodist Village since 2017. We could not be happier. We invested in one of the "model" apartments in the Park View building. Except for moving in our furniture and hanging some pictures on the walls, we did not have make any changes in the apartment. The Asbury facilities and amenities are excellent. The Asbury staff is absolutely superb--some of the best and nicest people I have ever dealt with. We particularly enjoy the Blue Note Bistro as a once-a-week "date." My wife and I are still very active. Moving to Asbury, we have been able to continue vitually all of our outside activities. I invested in some electronic teaching hardware and have been able to teach remotely from the den in our apartment--a course in American criminal law for 150 students in China and a more recent course on negotiation in New Delhi, India. My wife loves it here as do I. I can't think of a thing we would change in our present circumstances.

Asbury Methodist Village is a well-run organization. My wife and I have been here almost 3 years, and have felt welcome and comfortable from the beginning. The management group all work at communicating with the residents, so that no one has to guess what's going on. The community is large enough to be able to offer a wide variety of amenities. We believe we made a good decision in choosing Asbury over other options

On our first visit to Asbury six years ago, we knew it was where we wanted to "retire". The vast campus is beautiful. The array of activities keeps us busy from morning till night. The residents and associates are friendly and welcoming. Even before the Covid virus, we were really happy to be living here. But with the onset of the virus we became certain that we could not be in a better place than Asbury. Every precaution has been taken to keep us safe. The associates have worked tirelessly to see that that we stay healthy and have plenty to eat, and even though in-person classes and lectures have been cancelled, our campus television station broadcasts daily exercise classes, a wide range of lectures and programs and full length films to keep us busy and entertained. Now, more than ever, we feel very fortunate to live in such a special community.

My husband and I moved here 15 years ago. We enjoyed the beautiful campus and attended classes, concerts, and educational lectures of interest. We took many trips far and wide with Asbury groups. My husband became ill and used home health, day care, assisted living, and the health care center with Hospice, services before he died in 2018. I continue to enjoy many friends, and appreciate the carefree living in this friendly environment. I am grateful to be safe and secure here during the pandemic, with the help of wonderful associates as needed. Moving to Asbury was a great decision 15 years ago, and I look forward to more adventures to come!

In the fall of 2018, I decided it was time to look into a place to spend the "rest of my life." After visiting a few continuing care communities, I felt sure that I had found my home at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg. From the beginning, I felt a welcoming presence while touring this facility with Marketing staff. The one-bedroom apartment shown to me was one which met all my needs, and all the physical and cultural activities offered were very appealing. My decision was made.

Living at Asbury has been all I anticipated, and then some. I have made many friends (everybody speaks to everybody) and have enjoyed participating in many exercise activities - water aerobics, line dancing, etc. - as well as the Keese School of Continuing Education. The Keese School, which is run by and for residents of Asbury, offers lectures, classes and musical events. And, if you choose not to cook, the dining facilities offer a wide variety of meals.

Covid-19 has affected life here. And on this subject, I am impressed with the attention given to us by staff and associates. This includes a Covid-19 test given to all who wished to participate, weekly telephone calls to residents to inquire about any symptoms being experienced, the delivery of meals to residences, screening of visitors, employees and associates, the availability of temperature gauges in lobbies, and, last but not least, required masks at all locations.

I chose well.

I wanted to update my review because I am very happy about something. In this COVID crisis, I cannot emphasize just how much great care Asbury is taking for our safety as residents. My Mom lives in a different part of the campus, and she is getting older. But I sleep very well with her at Asbury. I know she is safe, as I am. I cannot put a price on the feeling of being safe.

For awhile I was the youngest residence on campus, and I may still be. But I needed to settle a number of issues, and Asbury was a perfect fit. I know people who wait until their situation requires them to move here, but to me that is a mistake. There are so many benefits to living here that I would encourage people to consider Asbury while they can still enjoy all the benefits of this environment. I know I am happy I made that choice, and do not feel I made it one day too early.

Nice clean setting. Most staff are friendly. Not a good place to go if you are post surgery and have severe pain that needs to be medicated with opiods. It may take half a day to get your first doses approved by their doctor and delivered by their pharmacy. If you go there make sure you are premedicated and have at least two next doses sent with you from the hospital.

Notice most of these ratings are from staff, not victims. I was really excited about this place. All the reviews looked good, website nice, and by no stretch of the imagination do I expect any rehab or nursing facility to knock my socks off because nobody will care for your loved ones like people who really love them....but...this place has a very interesting dynamic. The admissions department was great, 90% of the CNA staff is extremely rude, lacks empathy, and ignores you while you talk, 40% of the RN staff if rude, unresponsive and short, the internal medicine physician that I encountered cuts you off while you talk, like you can t even get .25% of a word out, the rooms stay at 40 degrees, and when you mention how cold it is your told that nothing can be done, the social workers lack empathy, aren t very helpful, and won t go the extra mile...well they might if your the right color......, PT/Occupational Health also exhibits a sense of entitlement and racial undertone. This being said, the facility is clean, and food looks good, so if that s all that matters to you, then you re in the right place. I wouldn t recommend for minorities, and if your loved one is a minority then stay with them because there is a lot of questionable behavior. Discharge is even worse. The social worker will promise things that she won t follow-through with then laugh about it, they ll leave the clothing soaked in urine, you have to ask for the medicines to take home, etc If you love your loved ones, don t bring them here. All that glitters is definitely not gold.

I was not ready to move in to AMV; my wife was. I...

I was not ready to move in to AMV; my wife was. I was wrong; she was right! Asbury has exceeded all my expectations and calmed any concerns I had. Two main reasons: 1) The variety of opportunities--for the mind, heart, and body--is unlimited. We have made many new friends and tons of wonderful new acquaintances. We've restarted yoga, attend lots of the Keese School lectures (I've even given one!), and find that there are simply more things going on for than we have time for each day. 2) While Asbury has enriched my life, it has not limited it in ways I once a worried about a bit. I still do all the same things I used to do before moving in; we keep up with the same friends; I arrange my day as I want. And we now enjoy the profound reassurance that when, hopefully years down the line, things do begin to get rough, Asbury will be on the spot to be the needed first responder. Our kids are spread all across the country; my wife and I both spent way too many weekends during the heart of our professional lives driving five hours to try to provide support to our parents. Because we are at Asbury, our kids will not have to go through what we went through, and that makes us feel very, very good.
